The New York Post Editorial Board roasted Democratic presidential nominee <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-yorker-magazine-goes-after-generic-kamala-harris">Kamala Harris</a> on Monday for attempting to hide her “true self” from voters and blasted the legacy media for gaslighting audiences about her record.
The front page <a href="https://x.com/nypost/status/1822947760598831449">read</a>, “Kama Kameleon: Flip-Flopping Harris Hides Her True Self From Voters.” The outlet went on to call out the so-called journalists who are “desperate to hide” Harris&#8217;s views because so many Americans are against them.
“Kamala Harris is being recast as a centrist Dem — but the radical truth is plain to see,” the headline from the Post Editorial Board says.
In the piece, the editorial board noted that a 2019 report by <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/07/25/us-news/govtrack-scrubbed-its-rating-that-had-kamala-harris-as-most-liberal-senator-in-2019-after-biden-dropped-out/">GovTrack rated Harris “the most liberal” </a>member of the Senate, but GovTrack has since scrubbed it. The report also noted that she was found to be the least likely senator to back bipartisan legislation.

The article compared &#8220;Kameleon,&#8221; the current narrative Harris is pushing, to &#8220;the truth&#8221; on several issues.

The truth: Donald Trump’s claims were not false. During the 2020 presidential campaign, Harris said repeatedly she wanted to <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/08/02/us-news/kamala-harris-fracking-flip-flop-is-affecting-races-for-other-democrats/">ban the gas and oil extraction method</a>, which has become an economic lifeblood of Pennsylvania and other states.</blockquote>
The authors pointed to other flip-flops by Harris. But when it came to illegal immigration, the editorial board said Harris isn’t just flip-flopping but “straight up” lying. It accused the “border czar” of doing “nothing to either strengthen the border or tackle the ‘root causes.’&#8221; 
The editorial board concluded by asking if Harris really stands for anything. 
“Or is her only ambition to say and do whatever it takes to get elected, then let the left wing of the party run the nation?”

Former President Donald Trump acknowledged the miraculous nature of his brush with death on Saturday when a would-be assassin shot him in his right ear, narrowly missing his head, at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump noted that only the fact that he had turned his head slightly at the moment the shots were fired saved him from certain death.
“I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead,” Trump told <a href="//14592C1D-8032-4C41-95BD-717492154773/v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Post</a> aboard his private plane on Sunday on his way to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Calling the attempted assassination a “very surreal experience,” Trump said, “The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this. He called it a miracle.”
Trump said he wanted to continue speaking after he was shot, but Secret Service agents hustled him off the stage, reminding him his safety was at stake and that he needed to go to a hospital.
Praising the Secret Service agents who tackled him as “linebackers,” he explained why, after they got him to his feet, he had insisted, “Wait, I want to get my shoes.”
“The agents hit me so hard that my shoes fell off, and my shoes are tight,” he said, smiling.
He continued by praising the counter-sniper who killed the would-be assassin: “They took him out with one shot right between the eyes. They did a fantastic job. &#8230; It’s surreal for all of us.”
“I just wanted to keep speaking, but I just got shot,” he asserted.
Pennsylvania GOP senatorial candidate David McCormick, who was seated in the front row behind Trump when the attack occurred, <a href="//14592C1D-8032-4C41-95BD-717492154773/v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acknowledged</a>, “It was pretty clear quickly that this was a series of shots. And the president went down immediately and the Secret Service jumped on top of him. And then he got up and you saw the pictures you’re now seeing on TV where his fist came out in sort of a measure of, I think, defiance and reassurance, leadership. He really reassured people that he was okay. &#8230;  An inch difference and the president would have been dead. It was a very scary moment.”

Some of the intelligence veterans who signed the infamous <a href="https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000175-4393-d7aa-af77-579f9b330000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> used to discredit the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hunter-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hunter Biden</a> laptop story weeks before the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/2020-election" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2020 presidential election</a> were on the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CIA</a>&#8216;s payroll at the time, according to a new report from Republican-led House committees.
Congressional investigators <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2024-06-25%20The%20Intelligence%20Community%2051%20-%20How%20CIA%20Contractors%20Colluded%20with%20the%20Biden%20Campaign%20to%20Mislead%20American%20Voters.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> that two of the 51 signatories — former Deputy CIA Director Michael Morell and former CIA Inspector General David Buckley — were actively working for the CIA as contractors when the statement was published.
The Weaponization of the Federal Government panel <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/media/press-releases/new-information-shows-cia-contractors-colluded-biden-campaign-discredit-hunter#:~:text=This%20revelation%20raises%20concerns%20that,and%20would%20hurt%20the%20Agency.">said</a> the &#8220;revelation raises concerns that these officials may have abused their positions to expedite the statement&#8217;s approval and may have been earning taxpayer dollars while they did it.&#8221;
Hunter Biden&#8217;s father, Joe Biden, was in the midst of running against then-President Donald Trump when the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/10/14/email-reveals-how-hunter-biden-introduced-ukrainian-biz-man-to-dad/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">began reporting</a> on details of the younger Biden&#8217;s shady business dealings and personal life contained in the copy of a hard drive.
The letter suggested the timing of the laptop story&#8217;s emergence had &#8220;all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.&#8221; POLITICO, which obtained the letter, <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/10/19/hunter-biden-story-russian-disinfo-430276" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> a headline in 2020 saying the intel veterans were claiming the laptop story was &#8220;Russian disinfo.&#8221;
Many of the contents of the laptop and hard drive have been <a class="c-link c-link--focus-visible" href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/03/30/hunter-biden-laptop-data-examined/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-stringify-link="https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/03/30/hunter-biden-laptop-data-examined/" data-sk="tooltip_parent" data-remove-tab-index="true">analyzed and shown to be authentic</a> over the past few years, but during a debate in the final stretch of the 2020 election cycle, Joe Biden was able to <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/house-gop-demand-records-from-ex-intel-officials-about-hunter-biden-laptop-letter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cite</a> the letter to cast doubt on the Post&#8217;s reporting.
A new <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2024-06-25%20The%20Intelligence%20Community%2051%20-%20How%20CIA%20Contractors%20Colluded%20with%20the%20Biden%20Campaign%20to%20Mislead%20American%20Voters.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees, along with the Weaponization panel, said emails showed that at least some of the letter&#8217;s signatories were on &#8220;active contract&#8221; with the CIA during its drafting, review, and publication. A CIA employee&#8217;s internal email in response to the letter said, &#8220;This frustrates me. I don&#8217;t think it is helpful to the Agency in the long run.&#8221; Another said, &#8220;I also love that at least a few of the random signatories belong to individuals currently working.&#8221;
The report said the investigating committees requested the identities of all the CIA contractors on the letter, but the agency has not &#8220;declassified the complete list of individuals &#8230; due to purported operational security&#8221; beyond disclosing Morell and Buckley.
A chart shows that three—including ex-CIA Director John Brennan, former CIA official Marc Polymeropoulos, and former National Counterterrorism Center Director Nick Rasmussen—were not contracted with the CIA on October 19, the date of the letter.
Congressional Republicans previously revealed that Morell <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2023-04-20-jdj-mt-to-blinken-re-public-statement-on-hunter-biden-emails_0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said &#8220;yes&#8221;</a> when asked if a call around mid-October 2020 from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/antony-blinken" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Antony Blinken</a>, an adviser to Joe Biden&#8217;s campaign who now serves as secretary of state, triggered a series of events that led to the letter.
Blinken <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blinken-denies-asking-for-hunter-biden-laptop-letter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denied soliciting the letter</a>, but emails show Morell asked fellow intelligence veterans to add their names to it with a stated purpose of giving Biden&#8217;s campaign a debate &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-cia-chief-sought-debate-talking-point-with-hunter-biden-laptop-letter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">talking point</a>.&#8221; Another top Biden campaign official later <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/media/press-releases/new-testimony-reveals-secretary-blinken-and-biden-campaign-behind-infamous#:~:text=Morell%20testified%20that%20his%20communication,him%20for%20writing%20the%20statement." target="_blank" rel="noopener">thanked</a> him.
The new report noted Morell acknowledged it is &#8220;inappropriate for a currently serving staff officer or contractor to be involved in the political process,&#8221; though Hatch Act political restrictions do not apply to them in the same way they do to CIA employees.
&#8220;Such an overtly political action would be illegal under the Hatch Act for a permanent CIA employee. Congress ought to consider whether to extend this important prohibition to CIA contractors as well,&#8221; the report from the GOP-led House panels added.
Also mentioned in the report is how the CIA&#8217;s Prepublication Classification Review Board (PCRB) received a draft of the letter because former senior intelligence officials had signed it, and a top officer said he informed the top brass that it would be published soon.

While the report asserts senior CIA leadership had an opportunity at that time to &#8220;slow down the CIA’s process for reviewing publication submissions&#8221; and &#8220;ensure that such an extraordinary statement was properly vetted,&#8221; the agency defended its work.
A process in which CIA officers are required to &#8220;sign a secrecy agreement that includes a lifelong obligation to submit any and all intelligence-related materials&#8221; to the PCRB before they are published was followed, a CIA spokeswoman told the New York Post.
Confirmation by the PCRB that &#8220;information is unclassified is never an endorsement of the reviewed content or its veracity,&#8221; the CIA spokeswoman added. &#8220;These former officers were not speaking for CIA.&#8221;

Singer and actress Barbra Streisand found herself at the mercy of a phenomenon named after her — The Streisand Effect — when she attempted to drive people away from The New York Post on Monday, prompting the exact opposite response.

Former Director of National Intelligence <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/james-clapper" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Clapper</a> had a short reply when he was asked by Fox News if he regrets signing the intelligence officials’ letter in 2020 that labeled the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation.
Clapper, along with 50 other former senior intelligence officials, signed the letter in October 2020 — just weeks before the presidential election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden — saying <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/10/14/email-reveals-how-hunter-biden-introduced-ukrainian-biz-man-to-dad/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the New York Post story</a> that exposed emails from Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
Since that letter, Hunter Biden’s laptop has been confirmed as authentic by multiple media outlets and the Department of Justice. The laptop was also confirmed as real during Hunter’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-biden-gun-trial-confirms-laptop-was-real-all-along">ongoing gun trial</a> earlier this week when the prosecution shared images from the laptop and Hunter’s iCloud account that showed him nude and holding crack pipes.
When Clapper was asked if he regretted adding his name to the intelligence officials’ letter, he simply replied, “No,” Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/former-obama-official-one-word-answer-asked-retract-attack-hunter-biden-laptop">reported</a>. He also refused to publicly remove his name from the letter.
Hunter’s laptop contained evidence that the first son introduced the commander-in-chief to a Ukrainian businessman less than a year before then-Vice President Joe Biden pressured Ukrainian government officials to fire a prosecutor investigating the businessman’s company. Hunter had been hired to the board of a Ukrainian energy firm a year before Joe Biden’s meeting with the Ukrainian businessman.
Clapper, and dozens of other former intelligence officials, wrote of the Hunter Biden laptop story, “If we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this.”
The letter was covered in a report by <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/10/19/hunter-biden-story-russian-disinfo-430276">POLITICO</a> that was published on October 19, 2020, and Biden referred to the letter in a debate with Trump three days later when Hunter’s laptop and foreign business dealings were brought up. Biden went on to win the 2020 election just two weeks later, but it would be another three years before the “Russian disinformation” claims put forth by the former intelligence officials were debunked by the DOJ.

Earlier this week, House Republicans <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-and-james-biden-referred-by-congress-for-criminal-prosecution-over-provably-false-statements">referred</a> Hunter Biden and the president’s brother, James Biden, for criminal prosecution for allegedly lying while testifying as part of the corruption-focused impeachment inquiry into the president.

In a poorly typed tweet, the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/17/lifestyle/woke-people-more-likely-to-be-unahppy-anxious-and-depressed-new-study-suggests/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a> shared the results of a study which suggests “woke” people are more likely to be unhappy. Of course, we didn’t need those results to be “suggested” because we know they’re true.

The study was conducted in Finland where researchers examined the progressive ideology that has now infiltrated their culture. First, they created a social justice scale with a list of truisms, or principles of progressivism, to ask participants of the study whether they agreed or disagreed with those statements. Then, they compared the results with other behaviors based on the responses to those statements. The study’s final Critical Social Justice Attitude scale included <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/17/lifestyle/woke-people-more-likely-to-be-unahppy-anxious-and-depressed-new-study-suggests/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter">seven truisms</a> of woke people: 
<blockquote>In the end, their final Critical Social Justice Attitude Scale identified seven truisms of woke people:

<li>“If white people have on average a higher level of income than black people, it is because of racism.”</li>
<li>“University reading lists should include fewer white or European authors.”</li>
<li>“Microaggressions should be challenged often and actively.”</li>
<li>“Trans* women who compete with women in sports are not helping women’s rights.” (reverse scored)</li>
<li>“We don’t need to talk more about the color of people’s skin.”</li>

For the people who agreed with these principles, identifying them as the things they are concerned with on a daily basis, it is no wonder they’re unhappy. The <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/17/lifestyle/woke-people-more-likely-to-be-unahppy-anxious-and-depressed-new-study-suggests/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter">conclusion researchers drew</a> is the same conclusion we all could have told them without even doing this study:
<blockquote>However, the most concerning finding was the relationship between mental health and agreement with the scale. Specifically, researchers found a high prevalence of anxiety and depression in people who believe the statement “If white people have on average a higher income than black people, it is because of racism.” More broadly, they found that those who identified as left-wing were most likely to report lower mental well-being.</blockquote>
That’s correct: “They found that those who identified as left-wing were most likely to report lower mental well-being.” Color me shocked.
Although researchers noted that we should not assume this is the case in every society and country, we know that it basically is. Finland can take these results and expand them to other countries because this is truth — and it’s certainly not isolated to Finland. Columbia epidemiologists have acknowledged depression rates <a href="https://magazine.columbia.edu/article/why-depression-rates-are-higher-among-liberals#:~:text=American%20adults%20who%20identify%20as,inducing%20topics%20like%20racial%20injustice%2C" target="_blank" rel="noopener">are higher among liberals</a>; American Affairs, a journal of public policy and political thought, has evaluated the <a href="https://americanaffairsjournal.org/2023/03/how-to-understand-the-well-being-gap-between-liberals-and-conservatives/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“well-being gap”</a> between liberals and conservatives; and the New York Times has analyzed <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/09/opinion/progressive-sadness.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sadness among progressives</a> and its self-destructive effects. This is not new information.

Evidence for why the Left’s mental well-being is lower is evident on television, in the news, or on social media: The Left constantly eats their own. They are friendly with you — until they aren’t. You can be the champion of all their current stances and you can wave all the flags, but if you ask one wrong question or so much as step a little bit out of line, they will rip you to shreds. They will cancel you, insult you, and kick you right out of their group, which is the definition of a toxic relationship and an unhealthy environment.
The Left also promulgates a victim-centric attitude, an attitude that leads to mental illness. Psychologists have studied that fact for years, yet that exact attitude has utterly taken hold of our society. The replies to <a href="https://twitter.com/nypost/status/1769483261728657609">the Post’s tweet</a> brought up these points over and over.

Meanwhile, the people who quote tweeted told a completely different story than those who replied. They seemed to want out of the comment section to tell their own story without anyone around to disagree with them. For example, one person said that the list of progressive truisms “are also correlated with higher intelligence,” meaning that people who agree with them have a better “understanding of how society and the world works.”

In actuality, science is split on that. On the one hand, numerous reports have been published explaining that intelligent people are miserable and unhappy because of the unbearable weight of the world; on the other, countless reports explain that intelligent people are actually incredibly happy for a myriad of reasons, usually due to their worldview, attitudes, and what they believe in terms of happiness and fulfillment. How an individual chooses to live their life has a great impact on those outcomes.
Another quote tweet said that those who are “aware of the problems” are the ones who will be upset about them.

To be clear, conservatives are not unaware of the problems that exist in our society. We aren’t walking around in ignorant bliss and therefore not upset. Listen to any Republican or conservative give a speech and you’ll hear a Right-winger ragging on about some problem or other. (When this happens, the Left critiques us, saying we are just trying to pull society backwards by disliking everything in the modern world — which is obviously not the case.)
No, it is not that conservatives have not identified problems; rather, conservatives see different problems. We do not find problems for the sake of having a pity party and an opportunity to complain — something which, by and large, is what many people on the Left resort to. Rolling around in self-pity and complaining just to complain create feelings of powerlessness and anger, leaving them spinning in a cycle of victimhood.
People on the Right, however, are realists. I would argue that we are solution-oriented, an attribute critical to happiness. Conservatives and psychologists alike agree on this. We have hope, we’re positive, and we genuinely want conditions to improve. I genuinely care about everybody in this country, and I want them to thrive and be successful, not be dragged down by their own attitude about the world. I hope that for everyone because it benefits our society as a whole.
In an article published in the National Post titled, “<a href="https://nationalpost.com/opinion/gad-saad-of-course-conservatives-are-happier-they-believe-society-is-worth-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Of Course Conservatives Are Happier — They Believe Society Is Worth It</a>,” well-known Canadian psychologist and professor Gad Saad explains this phenomenon, saying: 
<blockquote>By definition, conservatives believe that there are values, beliefs, attitudes and ideas worth conserving. Hence, they wake up every morning with a sense of existential glee; they recognize that their society, whilst far from perfect, contains many tried and tested ideas worth preserving. Liberals and progressives on the other hand wake up with a dark cloud of existential doom because their society is apparently racist, sexist, transphobic, Islamophobic and ableist. Canada supposedly sits on stolen land. Capitalism is an exploitative system that rapes Mother Earth. We have less than 15 minutes to go because of the existential crisis associated with climate change. Hence, from the perspective of the Noble Progressive, we must dismantle the current system and fight for Unicornia, which lies just around the corner. How could one be happy when there is so much ugliness in the world?</blockquote>
Saad’s contrast of conservatives and progressives is succinct, yet impactful. Conservatives have a hopeful and positive reason to wake up in the morning — and that changes everything. We have goals. We believe in the best of society and the best of what it can be. We have values outside our political ideology, which the Left often does not, and it is those values, like faith and family, that propel us forward and fulfill us. Saad’s acknowledgment that we “believe that there are values, beliefs, attitudes and ideas worth conserving” is accurate, in that we have solid, tried and true values that have stood the test of time. They are far more stable than the values of the Left, which change daily based on their emotions or the current trend. The fact that we have a strong foundation to stand on — that we know what we’re fighting for, that we know what works — speaks volumes.
Perhaps most importantly, we understand and accept personal responsibility, which is something many on the Left lack. We know we are responsible for our own happiness, for our outlook, and for our response to the world around us. We are responsible for our values and the circle of people we surround ourselves with. This is all intertwined with happiness. And while conquering and owning personal responsibility is difficult, it is also incredibly empowering.
Ultimately, that is why we are happier.

Ousted CNN anchor Don Lemon had a tentative deal to host a new show on Elon Musk&#8217;s X platform — but according to a recent report, the whole thing might have fallen apart over Lemon&#8217;s &#8220;diva demands.&#8221;
The New York Post reported that, among other things, Lemon had <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/15/media/don-lemon-demanded-tesla-cybertruck-5m-advance-equity-in-x-before-elon-musk-canned-him-sources/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demanded some control</a> over other news content that might make its way onto the platform — and had aspirations of hosting the &#8220;first podcast in space.&#8221;
The alleged list of demands, according to The Post, included &#8220;a free Tesla Cybertruck, a $5 million upfront payment on top of an $8 million salary, an equity stake in the multibillion-dollar company, and the right to approve any changes in X policy as it relates to news content.&#8221;
Lemon also reportedly wanted to helm the &#8220;<a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/19/media/don-lemon-wanted-seat-aboard-elon-musks-rocket-to-do-first-podcast-in-space-sources/?_gl=1*1scr8yc*_ga*MTkzMTkwODE1Ni4xNjY3OTUyODk2*_ga_0DZ7LHF5PZ*MTcxMTAzOTc3NS40Ny4wLjE3MTEwMzk3ODIuMC4wLjA.&amp;_ga=2.127897869.1676480561.1711035583-1931908156.1667952896" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first podcast in space</a>,&#8221; suggesting that Musk use SpaceX to make that happen.
Lemon had also set up an interview with Musk — which was initially set to air as his debut episode — and had reportedly attached another list of demands to their planned meeting in Las Vegas. Among those were a suite, drinks, and massages for Lemon and his fiancé — and a private jet flight on X&#8217;s dime.
Despite knowing about the demands at the time of their interview, Musk agreed to do it anyway — but cut ties with Lemon afterward, calling him &#8220;underwhelming.&#8221;

People negotiate all the time, but that’s, come on,&#8221; Lemon told <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/podcasts/it-wasnt-a-gotcha-interview-don-lemon-on-elon-musk-and-the-shocking-meltdown-of-his-deal-with-x/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mediaite&#8217;s</a> Aidan McLaughlin. &#8220;It’s obviously a deflection. Because it has nothing to do with the interview, and I’m not going to fall into that. I don’t read the New York Post, but I do love their horoscopes. It’s great. The New York Post Editorial Board published a piece Thursday laying into a recently-introduced bill that they argued would turn <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/canada" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Canada</a> into an Orwellian nightmare.
The bill in question (Bill C-63), referred to as the Online Harms Act, was first introduced by Justice Minister Arif Virani in February — and would <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/14/world-news/canadian-law-endorsed-by-trudeau-could-imprison-people-for-speech-crimes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">empower the government</a> to place citizens on house arrest if social media posts provide &#8220;reasonable grounds&#8221; for officials to believe that someone &#8220;will commit&#8221; a crime.
&#8220;No, Canada!&#8221; the Post&#8217;s Editorial Board wrote in response. &#8220;The country that brought you debanking protesters and government-assisted suicide for the poor now wants to criminalize speech to lock up people for life and to put wrongthinkers under house arrest if the state sees a chance they will commit a crime. Doesn’t get more Orwellian than that.&#8221;
Minister Virani claimed that the bill was all about safety on the internet, something that he said hit close to home because he had children himself — and suggested that it would be no different than forcing toy manufacturers to abide by certain product safety regulations.
Another provision in the bill addresses &#8220;advocating for genocide&#8221; and increases the penalty for that particular infraction from five years to life in prison — and the Post noted an inherent risk in that provision as well.
&#8220;We’re sure a law that criminalizes &#8216;advocating for genocide&#8217; could never be twisted to criminalize support for Israel,&#8221; they wrote. &#8220;The pro-Hamas left will have a field day.&#8221;
The penalties for social media companies would be steep as well if they dared to refuse cooperation if the bill becomes law: fines could be upwards of a staggering 6% of global revenue.
&#8220;Handmaid&#8217;s Tale&#8221; author Margaret Atwood pointed out the dystopian future the bill was likely to help facilitate, saying via X, &#8220;If this account of the bill is true, it’s Lettres de Cachet all over again. The possibilities for revenge false accusations + thoughtcrime stuff are sooo inviting! Trudeau’s Orwellian online harms bill.&#8221;

Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> ignored recommendations while attorney general of California to investigate an alleged pyramid scheme at a company linked to her husband, according to documents obtained by The New York Post. 
The Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/02/17/business/bill-ackman-accuses-kamala-harris-of-conflict-of-interest-on-herbalife/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on Saturday that it had documents showing that Harris discounted recommendations from staff to investigate Herbalife in 2015 over pyramid scheme suspicions at the same time her husband Doug Emhoff worked at a law firm that represented Herbalife. Herbalife is a Los Angeles based dietary supplement company that <a href="https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/refunds/herbalife-refunds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was sued</a> by the Federal Trade Commission in 2016 over accusations that the company was lying to customers about how much money they could make selling Herbalife products.
While she was attorney general, Harris was given a memo from her staff saying that Herbalife was “engaging in a number of tactics designed to maximize the number of distributors selling its products, which results in cash flow back to those at the top of the organizational pyramid,” according to a March 2015 document obtained by the Post.
The memo was written by Supervising Deputy Attorney General Judith Fiorentini and Deputy Attorneys General Sanna Singer and Jinsook Otha. They said that there was a “need for formal investigative authority” to look into whether Herbalife was trying “to skirt around” product distribution regulations. 
Harris’ staff wanted to interview former Herbalife distributors, subpoena company documents, and begin an undercover investigation. They wanted two deputy attorneys allocated to look into the company. 
“Conducting an investigation of Herbalife at this juncture will send the message that this office takes continued monitoring and enforcement of its existing judgements very seriously,” the memo reads. “In addition, it will ensure that Herbalife is held accountable for the acts of its distributors.”

Despite her staff’s urging, Harris did not open up an investigation into Herbalife. Meanwhile, Emhoff worked at Venable LLP, which represented Herbalife after it was sued by the FTC. Emoff <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/08/us/politics/doug-emhoff-kamala-harris-law.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">did not</a> personally represent Herbalife, though he was head of the Los Angeles branch of Venable.
In 2016, Herbalife <a href="https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/refunds/herbalife-refunds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">settled</a> with the FTC, agreeing to pay customers $200 million and restructure its business. 
Pershing Square CEO Bill Ackman, who previously shorted Herbalife back in 2012, pointed out on Thursday the ties between Emhoff and Herbalife. He also critiqued Harris’s decision not to investigate the company.
“As a result, her staff leaked its memo to us and the media at that time. Unfortunately, by then no one was interested in the story,” he said. “Interestingly, at that same time, AG Harris’ husband was a partner at Venable, one of HLF’s top law firms. HLF has always been very savvy about managing its regulatory and legal risks.”
“The whole situation is an incredibly damning indictment of how our regulatory enforcement apparatus works,” Ackman said of the settlement with the FTC and Harris&#8217;s ignoring of the memo.

New <a href="https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67511701/united-states-v-biden/?order_by=desc">filings</a> in the ongoing case against President Joe Biden&#8217;s embattled son confirm that the laptop tied to Hunter Biden was, in fact, his — and that the Justice Department knew it.
New York Post reporter Miranda Devine — who has been working on the Hunter Biden story since the very beginning — laid out some of the new details in a thread posted to X. She noted that in addition to the Bidens and the Justice Department being fully aware that the laptop was Hunter&#8217;s, they had even been able to match the contents discovered on the laptop to content stored on the cloud under his account.
&#8220;In a new court filing today, the DOJ confirms Hunter Biden’s laptop is real, that he left it at a computer store, and that the contents matched what they obtained from a search warrant of his iCloud. Don’t hold your breath for a retraction from Joe Biden (&#8216;It’s a Russian plant&#8217;), the #Dirty51 or myriad dishonest media operatives. They blamed Russia when the Bidens knew it was Hunter &#8211; and so did the FBI. Hunter also blamed Russia when he was caught using adultery site Ashley Madison,&#8221; Devine posted to start off her thread.

Other details in the most recent filings included additional information about Hunter Biden&#8217;s allegedly illegal firearm — and the federal form he had allegedly filled out dishonestly in order to obtain it.
Among the evidence was a text message — allegedly sent by Hunter Biden within 48 hours of purchasing the firearm — in which he stated that he was &#8220;meeting a drug dealer,&#8221; &#8220;smoking crack,&#8221; and sleeping in a car.

The filing also stated that cocaine had been found &#8220;on the pouch&#8221; in which the younger Biden had stored the gun in question, suggesting that he had the gun and the drugs in close proximity and at the same time.

The New York Post said Tuesday that a lawyer for Harvard University &#8220;threatened&#8221; them for looking into plagiarism allegations against the school&#8217;s president.
The Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/12/12/news/harvard-secret-plagiarism-probe-into-president-claudine-gay/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> it contacted the university on October 24 asking for comment on 27 alleged instances in which Harvard President Claudine Gay&#8217;s work appears very similar to other academics&#8217; words and phrasing.
Harvard&#8217;s senior executive director of media relations and communications, Jonathan Swain, who is also a <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanlswain/details/experience/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">former</a> Hillary Clinton aide and served as a <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2020/11/18/harvard-swain-tomasini-biden/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">member</a> of the Biden administration&#8217;s transition team, responded by asking for more time to review Gay&#8217;s work, the Post said.
The next day, Swain said he would “get back in touch over the next couple of days” but then did not respond after that.
Then on October 27, a major Virginia attorney, Thomas Clare of the law firm Clare-Locke, contacted the Post saying he was Harvard&#8217;s and Gay&#8217;s defamation counsel.
Harvard finally publicly admitted on Tuesday that the school had investigated Gay&#8217;s academic work for plagiarism, a day after the Manhattan Institute&#8217;s Christopher Rufo <a href="https://twitter.com/realchrisrufo/status/1733977126020481266" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> questions about Gay&#8217;s PhD dissertation on social media.

In a letter to &#8220;members of the Harvard community,&#8221; the college said the probe began in late October after the school &#8220;became aware&#8221; of allegations about Gay&#8217;s work.
The investigation found &#8220;a few instances of inadequate citation&#8221; but concluded she had not violated Harvard&#8217;s “standards for research misconduct.” Harvard said Gay would request four corrections in two of her published works to insert citations and quotation marks that had been “omitted.”
&#8220;In this tumultuous and difficult time, we unanimously stand in support of President Gay,&#8221; Harvard&#8217;s letter added.
The controversy around Gay&#8217;s academic writings comes on the heels of her highly criticized congressional testimony on Harvard&#8217;s response to anti-Semitism on campus.
Gay along with the presidents of MIT and the University of Pennsylvania avoided answering whether calling for the genocide of Jews violated the universities’ codes of conduct.
“It can be, depending on the context,” Gay told the lawmakers. She said such hate speech is “at odds with the values of Harvard” and that when that kind of “speech crosses into conduct, that violates our policies.”
Some of the academics whose work appeared very similar to Gay&#8217;s said they did not feel she had plagiarized them.
However, Anne Williamson, a professor of political science at the University of Miami in Ohio, was less happy, even &#8220;angry,&#8221; she told the Post.
Gay&#8217;s 2017 paper “A Room for One’s Own? The Partisan Allocation of Affordable Housing” has phrases that are very similar to a 2011 paper by Williamson.
“It does look like plagiarism to me,” Williamson told the Post. “If they are going to do what they did, then I should be cited as a reference. My first reaction is shock. The second reaction is puzzlement. There was a way to draw from my paper. All she had to do is give me a credit.”

A reporter chided <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/white-house" target="_blank" rel="noopener">White House</a> Press Secretary <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/karine-jean-pierre" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Karine Jean-Pierre</a> after she refused to call on him.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/new-york-post" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>&#8216;s Steven Nelson spoke up during a press briefing on Wednesday, lamenting, &#8220;You haven’t called on me in two seasons, Karine.”
Jean-Pierre replied, “And I’m not calling on you today.&#8221; She tried to move on, repeatedly telling another reporter in the room, &#8220;Go ahead,&#8221; but Nelson wasn&#8217;t done.

In response, Jean-Pierre insisted, &#8220;There is no restriction.&#8221;
It&#8217;s not for a lack of trying that Nelson has not been able to get Jean-Pierre to answer questions during a press briefing in the intervening months.
At the end of a briefing in September, he asked about Biden interacting with his son Hunter&#8217;s foreign business associates. The press secretary ignored the question and walked out of the room.
