A trans-identifying member of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/congress" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Congress</a> was confronted with &#8220;biological reality&#8221; in the U.S. Capitol last week.
Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL), who was presiding over the House chamber on Thursday, called on Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE) to speak.
&#8220;The chair recognizes the gentleman from Delaware, Mr. McBride, for five minutes,&#8221; Miller said.
McBride, who identifies as a transgender woman, went on to speak critically of the Trump administration.

Miller was alluding to President Donald Trump taking <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-order-will-end-military-gender-insanity-ban-taxpayer-funded-gender-transitions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">actions</a> that are focused on gender during his second term.
&#8220;I refuse to perpetuate the lie that gender is open to our interpretation. It is not,&#8221; Miller added.

Katie Miller, a member of the DOGE team and wife to White House official Stephen Miller, also commented.
&#8220;You are not required to live in someone else’s simulation,&#8221; Katie Miller <a href="https://x.com/katierosemiller/status/1888283931633672316" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
On X, McBride <a href="https://x.com/SarahEMcBride/status/1888273599242387886" target="_blank" rel="noopener">encouraged</a> people to watch the remarks that followed the 15-second clip of Rep. Miller&#8217;s introduction.
&#8220;It was my first ever floor speech!&#8221; emphasized McBride, a first-term member of the House.
This is not the first stand taken by Republicans in the trans debate over the past few months since the 2024 election.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) introduced a resolution to ban trans-identifying men from women’s bathrooms or facilities on Capitol Hill.
The Daily Wire exclusively <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-second-nancy-mace-bill-would-ban-men-from-womens-facilities-on-all-federal-property" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> Mace followed up with a similar measure that focused on all federal property.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) then <a href="https://apnews.com/article/sarah-mcbride-speaker-johnson-transgender-bathroom-f3943e1b3b2dc9c8d62d2ba6660aaf91" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> trans restroom restrictions in the U.S. Capitol and House office buildings.
McBride <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-identifying-congressman-agrees-not-to-use-female-bathrooms-after-johnson-brings-the-hammer-down" target="_blank" rel="noopener">agreed</a> to abide by the directive while claiming it was an &#8220;effort to distract from the real issues&#8221; facing the country.
&#8220;I’m not here to fight about bathrooms,&#8221; McBride said. &#8220;I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families.&#8221;
McBride added: &#8220;Like all members, I will follow the rules as outlined by Speaker Johnson even if I disagree with them.&#8221;

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) taunted Democrats during a House hearing on Wednesday after they reprimanded her for saying the word &#8220;tranny&#8221; during the hearing.
Mace made the remarks during a Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing.
&#8220;Um, the gentle lady has used a phrase that is considered a slur in the LGBTQ community and the transgender community,&#8221; said Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA). &#8220;Let me please finish without an interruption.&#8221;
Mace interjected: &#8220;Tranny, tranny, tranny. I don&#8217;t really care. You want penises in women&#8217;s bathrooms, and I&#8217;m not going to have it. No thank you.&#8221;
Connolly responded: &#8220;To me, a slur is a slur, and here in the Committee, a level of decorum requires us to try consciously to avoid slurs.&#8221;
&#8220;You just heard the gentle lady actually, actively, robustly repeat it and I would just ask the chairman that she be counseled that we ought not to be engaged — we can have debate and policy discussion without offending human beings who are our fellow citizens,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And so I would ask as a parliamentary inquiry whether the use of that phrase is not, in fact, a violation of the decorum rule.&#8221;
Mace said that she refused to be counseled by a man on the issue of having men in women&#8217;s spaces or men who have mental health issues dressing as women.
Chairman James Comer (R-KY) dismissed Connolly&#8217;s concerns in a joking way, saying that he was &#8220;not up to date&#8221; on his &#8220;politically correct LGBTQ terminology.&#8221;

On Thursday, a majority of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/house-democrats" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Democrats</a> once again voted against legislation that seeks to ensure <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/illegal-immigration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">immigrants</a> who commit sex crimes or domestic violence can be deported from the United States.
The <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/30?q=%7B%22search%22%3A%22Violence+Against+Women+by+Illegal+Aliens+Act%22%7D&amp;s=3&amp;r=2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bill</a>, called the &#8220;Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act,&#8221; <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/16/us/house-bill-deport-immigrants.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed</a> with the support of 213 Republicans and 61 Democrats. Another 145 Democrats and no Republicans voted against it. Fifteen other lawmakers did not vote.

The bill <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/7909/text" target="_blank" rel="noopener">states</a> that it would &#8220;amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide that aliens who have been convicted of or who have committed sex offenses or domestic violence are inadmissible and deportable.&#8221;
It also contains provisions that apply to crimes of stalking, child abuse, child neglect, child abandonment, or violating the portion of a protection order &#8220;against credible threats of violence, repeated harassment, or bodily injury&#8221; to the protectee.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, <a href="https://x.com/HouseJudiciary/status/1879916098608386552" target="_blank" rel="noopener">argued</a> the bill was redundant when it came to cracking down on foreign national criminals and would <a href="https://x.com/RepNancyMace/status/1879908971219161577" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;set back&#8221;</a> efforts to protect victims because it could be used against these survivors if they are immigrants who resist their abusers.

An Illinois man allegedly attacked South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace on the United States Capitol grounds Tuesday over her views on trans-identifying men in women&#8217;s spaces, Mace said.

The Capitol Police told The Daily Wire that they arrested a person accused of assaulting a United States representative Tuesday evening. That person was 33-year-old James McIntyre of Illinois, the Capitol Police said. McIntyre is facing a charge of assaulting a government official.
“Just before 6:00 p.m., the Member of Congress’ office reported an incident in the Rayburn House Office Building,” the Capitol Police told The Daily Wire. “House Division officers, and agents with the Threat Assessment Section, tracked down the suspect.”
McIntyre reportedly went through security screening before entering the congressional buildings, where the incident apparently occurred. The Capitol Police specifically said that “the Rayburn House Office Building was open to the public at the time of the incident.”

On “<a href="https://x.com/NickFondacaro/status/1860005722932576303">The View</a>” on Friday, Behar and her cohosts were discussing Rep. Nancy Mace&#8217;s (R-SC) bill to keep McBride, who will represent Delaware in the House next year, from using the women’s bathrooms at the Capitol.
&#8220;We have bathrooms here in this building, it just says &#8216;all genders,’” Behar explained. “Why can&#8217;t they just do that everywhere?&#8221;

The comments came after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/aoc-keeping-men-out-of-womens-bathrooms-is-endangering-women">Mace provided</a> details of what has since been labeled the “Protecting Women’s Private Spaces Act,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-second-nancy-mace-bill-would-ban-men-from-womens-facilities-on-all-federal-property?topStoryPosition=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exclusively</a> to The Daily Wire this week. She said it will ban “members, officers, and employees of the House from using single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex, and for other purposes.” It also forbids anyone from accessing facilities on federal property that do not correspond with their biological sex, and it provides precise definitions of what it means to be female or male, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-identifying-congressman-agrees-not-to-use-female-bathrooms-after-johnson-brings-the-hammer-down">reported</a>.
“I’m going to do everything I can to protect women and girls here on the hill, but also across the nation,” she said on “The Michael Knowles Show,” where she first unveiled the bill. “This is a question that needs to be answered. Do women have rights or not? Are we going to allow these men to bully us into submission? And I say, no, no more. I’m done with this.”

“It is important to note that each Member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol,” he added. “Women deserve women’s only spaces.”

Democrats still seem quite troubled about what went wrong in the 2024 election. They keep offering various reasons for the loss. Their reasons range from the failure of the meritocracy, according to David Brooks, to the utter disconnect of the American people involving racism, sexism, bigotry, and homophobia — all of it.
Well, the latest explanation comes courtesy of Kamala Harris&#8217; advisers. According to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/11/20/why-harris-lost-democrats-lessons/">The Washington Post:</a>
<blockquote>Senior officials with Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign say her defeat stemmed primarily from dissatisfaction among voters about the overall direction of the country and discontent over inflation and the economy, arguing that those headwinds proved too strong for Harris to overcome in her sprint to Election Day.</blockquote>
This is a very convenient explanation for Democrats, because it means they don&#8217;t have to change anything. All of this feels like whistling past the political graveyard. It is a refusal to deal with the underlying factors that led to the Democrats getting shellacked across the country.
Well, now we’re getting this same sort of sense from the so-called “resistance.” There&#8217;s a lengthy article in <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/20/us/trump-womens-march-protests-activism.html?searchResultPosition=3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Times</a> discussing Trump&#8217;s resistance encountering fatigue. It turns out that all of the ladies who protested during the first Trump administration are a little frustrated because they&#8217;re not quite sure what to do.
According to The New York Times:
<blockquote>The first Trump presidency spawned the largest protests the country had seen in half a century.
But not everyone wants to participate in another four years of mass movement work. When Women’s March shared information about an upcoming rally on Instagram, one person responded, “No im tired, yall have fun though.” (Women’s March later hid some of the pushback and limited who could respond to a handful of posts.)
On TikTok, plans for the march were met with memes of women saying, “Get somebody else to do it.” “This is an opportunity for a national brunch day for the 93 percent,” said one user, referring to the 93 percent of Black women who exit polls suggested had voted for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Others questioned whether the previous protests had resulted in substantial concessions.</blockquote>
So they&#8217;re realizing that their protest movements have accomplished nothing. But what they refuse to recognize is the reason why those protest movements are accomplishing nothing.
Maybe it&#8217;s because there was at least the patina of legitimacy to many of the causes people were protesting back in the 1960s and 1980s.
And now, as it turns out, the causes they&#8217;re backing are just bad.

And this brings us to the controversy of the day.
Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) has now sponsored a resolution on the floor of the House that is going to be implemented. It suggests that women should be able to use their bathrooms without men with penises in those same bathrooms. 
This seems perfectly legitimate. In fact, this is relatively non-controversial in the regular world. And these transgender bathroom rules are perfectly obvious. There&#8217;s nothing particularly shocking about them. A man should use the men&#8217;s bathroom and a woman should use the women&#8217;s bathroom. Apparently, according to the Left, this is very bad. How dare Nancy Mace. How dare she? 
Mace appeared on Scripps News and during the interview the anchor kept insisting to Mace that she was barring a woman from using the bathrooms, to which Mace responded, “No.” Sarah McBride is a dude whose name was Tim McBride and still has all of the male appendages. In her <a href="https://www.scrippsnews.com/politics/congress/rep-nancy-mace-tells-scripps-news-new-bills-would-limit-bathroom-use-for-transgender-people" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview with Scripps News</a> Mace says a true thing, but an offensively true thing:
<blockquote>Scripps: I just want to add that the congresswoman-elect does identify as a woman. I will be…
Mace: She&#8217;s not a woman. It&#8217;s a man. She was born a man. She&#8217;s a man. She is biologically a male. That is science. You guys on the Left in the mainstream media want to say, “follow the science.” Let&#8217;s follow the science. Okay. He is a man. He can wear a dress. He can call himself, his pronouns can be she or her. But he doesn&#8217;t belong in a women&#8217;s restroom, period.</blockquote>
Again, according to the polling data, most Americans agree with this. This is not a controversial proposition, but the Left can&#8217;t let go of it.
For example, Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has <a href="https://x.com/Acyn/status/1859047222895407475">suggested</a> the real problem is Mace and company, of course:
<blockquote>This is what we&#8217;re doing. This is the lesson that you&#8217;ve drawn from the election in November. This is your priority. If you want to bully a member of Congress as opposed to welcoming her to join this body so that all of us can work together.</blockquote>
The priorities are truth and protection of women. One of the most annoying things about Democratic policy on this particular proposition is that they do something totally abnormal and out of the boundaries of decent human behavior — then, they question when people bring it up.
For his part, Speaker Johnson has put out a <a href="https://mikejohnson.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=1484">statement</a> saying,
<blockquote>All single sex facilities in the Capitol and House office buildings such as restrooms, changing rooms and locker rooms are reserved for individuals of that biological sex.</blockquote>
It&#8217;s also important to note each member’s office has its own private restroom. Unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol. Women deserve women&#8217;s only spaces. Again, perfectly reasonable. There are alternative solutions. 
Despite many of his heterodox positions with his party, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) is still a progressive. He <a href="https://x.com/SenFettermanPA/status/1859316484029259986" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a> out, 
<blockquote>There’s no job I’m afraid to lose if it requires me to degrade anyone. If that’s a defining issue for a voter, there will be a different candidate. We have a bathroom in my office that anybody is welcome to use, including Representative-elect Sarah McBride.</blockquote>

Popular broadcast news journalist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/katie-couric">Katie Couric</a> weighed in on the Capitol Hill bathroom controversy, stating that she found it “sh***y” that members of Congress are expected to use the bathroom that matches their biological sex.
Her statements come on the heels of Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nancy-mace">Nancy Mace</a> (R-SC) introducing legislation that would require “members, officers, and employees of the House” to use bathrooms according to sex. 
The bill was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mace-on-trans-bathroom-ban-as-a-rape-survivor-i-know-how-vulnerable-women-are-in-private-spaces">introduced</a> this week as Democrats are preparing for their new member, Sarah McBride from Delaware, to become the first member of Congress to identify as transgender.
A reporter asked Mace, “Is this effort in response to Congresswoman McBride coming to Congress?”
“Yes and absolutely, and then some,” Mace replied. “I’m not going to stand for a man, you know, when someone with a penis is in the women’s locker room, that’s not okay.”
Couric, meanwhile, took issue with Mace&#8217;s tone. 
“Hey everyone, I&#8217;m just so disappointed that this Nancy Mace, a Republican from South Carolina, is being so rude, and I don&#8217;t know, just bigoted against Sarah McBride, who is a new congressperson from the state of Delaware,” the 67-year-old TV personality said in a video <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@katiecouric/video/7439545297161751850?lang=en">posted</a> on TikTok Thursday.

“I know Sarah. She is the first openly transgender member of Congress, and she&#8217;s an extraordinary human being, has done a great job representing the people of Delaware and is now going to be doing it in Washington, and it just seems nasty and mean, and cruel because she is the only member who is now forbidden to use the ladies&#8217; room and it&#8217;s just sh***y, you know. Anyway, I just wanted to say that.”
Couric isn’t the only one upset over the bill. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was fuming over the idea of people sticking to the bathroom that matched their sex, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/aoc-keeping-men-out-of-womens-bathrooms-is-endangering-women">saying</a>, “It’s disgusting. And everybody, no matter how you feel on this issue, should reject it completely.” 
“They’re doing this so that Nancy Mace can make a buck and send a text and fundraise off an email. They’re not doing this to protect people. They’re endangering women,” she continued. “They’re endangering girls of all kinds. And everybody should reject it. It’s gross.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) supported the move, noting that “each Member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol.”
McBride also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-identifying-congressman-agrees-not-to-use-female-bathrooms-after-johnson-brings-the-hammer-down">weighed in</a>, saying, “I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families. Like all members, I will follow the rules as outlined by Speaker Johnson even if I disagree with them. This effort to distract from the real issues facing this country hasn’t distracted me over the last several days, as I’ve remained hard at work preparing to represent the greatest state in the union come January.”

Ocasio-Cortez&#8217;s remarks come after Johnson signaled support for Mace&#8217;s measure that would allow people to only use bathrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms that correspond with their biological sex.

Mace provided her bill, dubbed the “Protecting Women’s Private Spaces Act,” exclusively to The Daily Wire this week.
The bill prohibits “individuals from accessing or using single-sex facilities on federal property other than those corresponding to their biological sex.”
Mace <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-second-nancy-mace-bill-would-ban-men-from-womens-facilities-on-all-federal-property?topStoryPosition=1">told</a> Daily Wire host Michael Knowles that her legislation should not be controversial, arguing that independent voters and even Democrats are “with us” when it comes to “forcing this crazy gender ideology down the throats of our children and other Americans across the country.”
“I’m going to do everything I can to protect women and girls here on the hill, but also across the nation,” she said on “The Michael Knowles Show,” where she first unveiled the bill. “This is a question that needs to be answered. Do women have rights or not? Are we going to allow these men to bully us into submission? And I say, no, no more. I’m done with this.”
“There’s no amount of bullying and threats on my life that they’ve made this week that’s going to stop me from this,” she added, promising to “fight like hell” for the protection of women and girls.

Here’s the thing to understand about Donald J. Trump: He is like Batman. He is vengeance.
That is the theme of Trump II. Trump has said this before: that he is the vengeance of the common man.
That’s taken by the Left to mean he&#8217;s going to jail his political opponents and use all of the facets of government to target the people he hates.
But that&#8217;s not what Trump means when he says he is your vengeance.
He means that the American people have been victimized by a small group of elitists who have decided that their morality is superior to those of Americans, that they ought to be able to rule every area of American life using their pseudo-expertise.
Trump is the revenge of the normies. He&#8217;s the revenge of the common man.

Here’s a kind of frivolous example: There’s a hot fight that has now broken out in the House of Representatives over a representative who calls himself Sarah McBride. Sarah McBride is a man named Tim McBride who changed his name to Sarah and identifies as a trans person. He insists on using the ladies bathroom, even though, of course, he&#8217;s a dude.
Rep. Nancy Mace, who just happens to be a female, as in biological female, has now sponsored a rule on the House floor. This rule says that if you&#8217;re a lady, you ought to use the ladies’ room; if you&#8217;re a dude, you ought to use the dudes’ room.
Mace was asked if her effort entailed a response to Congresswoman McBride coming to Congress? She <a href="https://x.com/charliekirk11/status/1858938196371096054" target="_blank" rel="noopener">answered</a>:

I will be there fighting every step of the way.</blockquote>
Nancy Mace: clear, concise and very brutally honest.
This, of course, angered Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic minority leader, who <a href="https://x.com/Breaking911/status/1858953643946557501" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a>, “As Katherine Clark indicated, the notion that this incoming small House Republican Conference majority is beginning to transition to the new Congress by bullying a member of Congress. This is what we&#8217;re doing? This is the lesson that you&#8217;ve drawn?”
The lesson that you have drawn is to continue to maintain an absolute falsehood. And that falsehood has been purveyed throughout our culture, throughout our society, to the point where people are afraid to speak basic common sense such as: boys are boys, and girls are girls.
We are all tired of this. We&#8217;re done. When there is a norm, when there is a center to a civilization, it’s not difficult to tolerate people on the fringe as part of the system, because if there is a center of gravity, the planets will circle that center of gravity.
But when a decision is made — as the Left has decided to do over the course of my lifetime — to destroy the center of gravity, when the center no longer holds, when the norm has been destroyed in the name of the fringe, eventually a new gravity will form. Eventually there will be a new center.
The new center now is that the bulk of people, particularly in America, are still normies. And the new center is going to look a lot like the old center.
That is what is happening right now. That is what&#8217;s happening with Team Trump.
The political effect of this is that the Left pushed too far in one direction — and the snapback is coming.

The trans-identifying congressman at the center of a Capitol Hill bathroom battle has agreed not to use the women&#8217;s facilities following a mandate from House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Sarah McBride, a newly-elected representative from Delaware who identifies as a transgender woman, issued a statement on Wednesday saying that he will abide by Johnson&#8217;s Wednesday directive that &#8220;all single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings — such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms — are reserved for individuals of that biological sex.&#8221;
“It is important to note that each Member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol,&#8221; Johnson said Wednesday. &#8220;Women deserve women’s only spaces.”
Johnson was responding to backlash on Capitol Hill over Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace&#8217;s resolution banning men from women&#8217;s facilities in Congress. That resolution specifically said that “allowing biological males into single-sex facilities, such as restrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms designed for women, jeopardizes the safety and dignity of members, officers, and employees of the House who are female.”
Left-wing media and lawmakers argued Mace was targeting or bullying McBride. But Mace repeatedly emphasized that, as a survivor of sexual assault, she believes in protecting the integrity of women&#8217;s spaces.
“There’s no amount of bullying and threats on my life that they’ve made this week that’s going to stop me from this,” Mace <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-second-nancy-mace-bill-would-ban-men-from-womens-facilities-on-all-federal-property">said Wednesday morning</a> on the Michael Knowles Show.
&#8220;Sarah McBride’s promise to abide by Speaker Johnson&#8217;s policy is a step toward acknowledging the rights of women everywhere—something we’ll continue to demand without compromise,&#8221; the congresswoman told The Daily Wire on Wednesday afternoon.
When McBride backed down Wednesday, he said in a statement: “I’m not here to fight about bathrooms.&#8221;

&#8220;It is important to note that each Member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Women deserve women&#8217;s only spaces.&#8221;
When asked by a reporter if the policy would be enforceable, Johnson said, &#8220;Like all House policies, it&#8217;s enforceable.&#8221;
&#8220;And we have single-sex facilities for a reason, and women deserve women&#8217;s only spaces,&#8221; he noted. &#8220;And we are not anti-anyone and we are pro-woman. I think it is an important policy for us to continue. It’s always been an unwritten policy and now it is in writing.&#8221;
