With just 24 hours to go before President-elect Donald Trump was set to take the oath of office for the second time, most of the conversations on Sunday&#8217;s political talk shows were focused on what people expected to see happen not just in the coming days, but through the end of Trump&#8217;s second term.

Karl also spoke to Jon Finer, who used his last moment in the spotlight to help President Joe Biden claim credit for the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Hamas terrorists who have been holding a number of hostages since October 7, 2023.

Biden said that his stutter made him realize growing up that &#8220;there&#8217;s so damn many bullies around.&#8221;
&#8220;The reason for all the safeguards out there is, in a very trite way to say it, is to keep the bullies from taking advantage of everybody else, the basic guardrails,&#8221; he added. &#8220;And I think that this concentration of enormous wealth and power in a circumstance where everything&#8217;s changing, and the biggest thing that&#8217;s changing is how we communicate with one another.&#8221;
Biden complained that social media companies would not censor conservative opinions and demanded that rich people pay their &#8220;fair share in taxes.&#8221;
&#8220;So I guess what I&#8217;m worried about is that the thing that keeps it on track are the guardrails, that there&#8217;s a Supreme Court that&#8217;s independent, but accountable,&#8221; he added. &#8220;There is a Congress that you speak your mind, but you&#8217;re held accountable to basic standards.&#8221;

Biden’s jab at red states simply does not comport with reality. As The Republican National Committee <a href="https://gop.com/research/red-states-are-outperforming-blue-states/">pointed</a> out last September, Labor Department data showed that through last August, “16 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and 16 of the states have Republican-controlled legislatures. Out of the top 10 states with the least jobs recovered, eight are Democrat-led. Republican-led states, on average, have recovered 143 percent of their lost jobs compared to just 118 percent for Democrat-run states.

Reid was mocked online for the claim, including by Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing, who pointed out Shapiro helped to create The Daily Wire, which generated over $200 million in revenue last year.

As MSNBC ‘s ratings have tanked after the election of Donald Trump to the presidency in November, the woman who ran the hard-Left network throughout almost all of the Biden administration has resigned.
Rashida Jones rose through the company from her position supervising daytime and weekend news programming. She <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/14/business/media/msnbc-rashida-jones-stepping-down.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=tw-nytimes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">oversaw</a> the hiring of former White House Press secretary Jen Psaki to host her own show, replaced Rachel Maddow four days a week with Alex Wagner, and extended “Morning Joe” to four hours.
“After four incredible years at the helm of MSNBC and 11 years at NBCU, I have made the decision to pursue new opportunities,” Jones wrote in a memo to staffers.

Jones will be replaced on an interim basis by Rebecca Kutler, whom Jones hired from CNN in 2022, serving as senior vice president of content strategy. Comcast, which owns MSNBC, recently announced that the network, although keeping its name, would become part of a new entity run by the chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, Mark Lazarus. Lazarus <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/01/14/media/msnbc-president-rashida-jones-stepping-down/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lauded</a> Jones, saying she had “expertly navigated MSNBC through a years-long, unrelenting and unprecedented news cycle, all while driving the network to record viewership and making investments in nonlinear businesses.”
In a move to shore up sagging ratings, Rachel Maddow is expected to return to five days a week until April 30, when she will return to her once-a-week schedule.
Kutler was one of the driving forces creating CNN+, the news service that Warner Bros. Discovery shut down soon after its inception.

But Democrats and legacy media were quick to put distance on the topic of the border and the crisis that has unfolded there under the Biden-Harris administration&#8217;s lax policies — and they emphasized the fact that at least in this particular case, the perpetrator was an American citizen who had been radicalized.
On ABC News&#8217; &#8220;This Week,&#8221; Chief Justice correspondent Pierre Thomas raised the question of how exactly the New Orleans terror suspect had been radicalized — specifically, whether ISIS had recruited him or he had come to them.

On &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; CNN anchor Jake Tapper pressed Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) on the issue — asking specifically whether Trump had jumped the gun when he linked terror threats in the United States to the porous border and the lax immigration policies under Biden and Harris.
&#8220;Wasn&#8217;t that premature given that this was an American citizen?&#8221; Tapper asked.
Banks pushed back, noting that former President Barack Obama had referred to ISIS as &#8220;the JV team of terrorism, and obviously they&#8217;re not.&#8221; He went on to note that Trump had essentially cut ISIS off at the knees during his first term and was prepared to do the same again.

For those who don&#8217;t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week&#8217;s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
With just a few days remaining in 2024 — and only 20 more until President-elect Donald Trump once again takes the Oath of Office and returns to the White House — the media conversations on Sunday largely focused on two things: what people should take away from 2024, and what they expect 2025 will bring.
The common threads — with a few exceptions — were as to be expected from legacy media and the majority of their guests: a white-washed picture of President Joe Biden&#8217;s tenure in the Oval Office, juxtaposed with predictions of disarray among Republicans when Trump returns to the presidency.
ABC&#8217;s Jonathan Karl pushed the division narrative on &#8220;This Week,&#8221; drawing on recent debate within the Republican Party over legal immigration and the H1-B visa program, sparked by some <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/reason-im-in-america-elon-and-other-trump-allies-battle-it-out-over-foreign-worker-visa-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comments made</a> by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
Karl quoted The Washington Post as saying that Musk had &#8220;incited a MAGA Civil War&#8221; when he posted on X about the program and argued that the United States should be bringing in qualified and competent foreign workers, particularly in technology-related fields.
Musk argued that competition in business should be like it is in &#8220;pro sports&#8221; and that America should draft the best team even if it was necessary to go outside the U.S. to do so.
His comments quickly sparked fierce debate as some argued that the H1-B visa program was being used to import cheaper labor rather than simply to build the best team.

Karl also pressed Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) about another division point within the party — namely the fact that several Republicans in the House had not yet endorsed House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) in his bid to keep the leadership post.
Lawler noted that a failure to re-elect Johnson as Speaker — and quickly — could hold up the certification of Trump&#8217;s November 5th electoral victory. Lawler also said that he believed Johnson would win the necessary votes to retain his position.

On CNN&#8217;s &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; Democrat Karen Finney attempted to rewrite President Biden&#8217;s history, claiming that the people would look favorably on Biden&#8217;s handling of the economy and would credit him with leading the country out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
&#8220;Joe Biden’s record with regard to the things that he’s accomplished, I think will stand the test of time,” she said, &#8220;It was very disturbing to learn late in the year about just how bad, how poor his health has become. And like many, I did not realize that it had gotten to that point. That being said, I think he’s still look, he showed up for the job. He got the work done. I think some of the accomplishments also in the Middle East and foreign policy will also stand the test of time.&#8221;

President-Elect Donald Trump Meets With Biden, Congressional Leaders In Washington

For those who don&#8217;t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week&#8217;s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
As politicians head home from Capitol Hill for Christmas — with less than one month to go before President-elect Donald Trump takes the Oath of Office and assumes the presidency for the second time — the talking points have clearly been issued. Everyone, from members of Congress to pundits to the hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View,&#8221; is complaining about billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and whether or not his influence on the incoming Trump administration is outsized.
Much of the conversation centered around the recent fight over a last-minute deal on a continuing resolution to avert a government shutdown just before members of Congress left for the Christmas holiday, and the fact that Musk — along with Trump and a host of others — had taken to X to pan the 1,500-plus page deal originally supported by House Speaker Mike Johnson. That deal fell through, in part due to widespread exposure of what it actually included, forcing lawmakers to try again.
There were several obvious lessons that could be learned from this particular situation — chief among them that Congress could have reached a deal long before the previous one had expired, thus eliminating the need for an 11th-hour stopgap measure entirely. They also could have learned that if such a situation was truly unavoidable, the people might appreciate the transparency of a clean bill that only addressed the truly emergent funding needs.
According to most Democrats — and even a handful of Republicans — the only thing worth learning from that scenario was that Elon Musk, because he owns the social media platform X and has Trump&#8217;s ear, must necessarily have too much influence over the policies that will shape the incoming administration.
From ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; to the House floor, courtesy of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/whoopi-airs-fever-dream-on-live-tv-says-musk-and-vance-could-be-plotting-hostile-takeover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Whoopi Goldberg</a> and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) respectively, came the too-clever-by-half labeling of the SpaceX CEO: &#8220;President Musk.&#8221;
That tone continued into the Sunday morning political shows as both the hosts and their guests reacted to the question of Musk&#8217;s influence — and whether or not Trump was happy about it.
On ABC&#8217;s &#8220;This Week,&#8221; former Governor Chris Christie argued that Trump might be fine with Musk having a bit of the spotlight for the time being, but insisted that was likely a temporary scenario — and that if Musk overstepped or Trump needed to blame someone else for something, the bloom would quickly come off the rose.
Christie began by suggesting that Musk was &#8220;intoxicated&#8221; by the adoration that came with being in Trump&#8217;s orbit and that at least for the moment, the entrepreneur had a lot of influence. &#8220;I used to say this to General Kelly when he first became chief of staff,&#8221; Christie continued. &#8220;Today you&#8217;re trading at 100 cents on the dollar. You will trade to zero, the only question is how long will it take.&#8221;
Christie did not put a timeframe on how long he thought Musk might last, but instead described how he believed it would happen, saying that Musk would likely be pushed aside &#8220;when Trump believes that something has gone wrong and he needs someone to blame — and Musk becomes the person to blame.&#8221;

On CBS&#8217; &#8220;Face the Nation,&#8221; Rep. Tony Gonzales defended the relationship between Trump and Musk, saying he was like a &#8220;prime minister&#8221; in the recent battle over funding — but that in that role, he had amplified the concerns being voiced by regular Americans.
&#8220;We have a president, we have a vice president, we have a speaker — it feels like — as if Elon Musk is our prime minister,&#8221; Gonzales said, and while he conceded host Margaret Brennan&#8217;s point that he was obviously &#8220;unelected,&#8221; he argued that much of what Musk had done was shine a light on all of the unnecessary and wasteful things that had been included in the first funding package. &#8220;He has a voice, and a large part — a lot of that voice is a reflection of the voice of the people.&#8221;

Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) pushed back on the prevailing narrative on CNN&#8217;s &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; telling host Dana Bash that it was clear to him that although Musk continued to work in an advisory capacity, Trump was still the one holding all the marbles.
After first explaining that the contents of the funding bill had been made largely available to the general public because Elon Musk had bought Twitter (now X), Hagerty said that social media-enforced transparency had forced lawmakers to face direct feedback from their constituents. That, he said, was what had ultimately led them to a cleaner CR.
&#8220;I think President Trump is clearly the leader,&#8221; Hagerty said when challenged directly, saying that he&#8217;d met with both Trump and Musk together and had no concerns that the SpaceX CEO was elbowing his way into undue influence of the incoming president.

Later on the show, Republican pundit <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/scott-jennings-nukes-democrats-claiming-musk-is-in-charge-i-invite-them-to-pick-up-the-wsj" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Scott Jennings</a> mocked the Democrats for complaining about the &#8220;unelected&#8221; and &#8220;billionaires&#8221; steering Trump on policy, noting that even the mainstream press was finally waking up to the fact that President Joe Biden had not been the one calling the shots in the current administration.
&#8220;I hear Democrats criticizing the idea that we have unelected people with too much influence over the government,” Jennings said, in reference to the myriad claims that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/whoopi-airs-fever-dream-on-live-tv-says-musk-and-vance-could-be-plotting-hostile-takeover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Musk</a> was controlling the outcome of the recent government shutdown-averting continuing resolution.
“I invite them to pick up the Wall Street Journal from this week and find out that unelected people have been running the government for the last four years,” he said. The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-details-emerge-about-white-houses-cover-up-of-bidens-cognitive-decline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> he mentioned laid out concerns — voiced by officials from within Biden’s White House — that Biden was not capable of even hosting long meetings, mush less large unscripted events, without fears of a major slip. Others had weighed in on his decision to seek a second term in office, saying that they were unsure how he would have the capacity to finish out his current term, much less embark upon another.
&#8220;I hear Democrats criticizing the influence of billionaires on our politics, when you’ve got this Soros punk running around collecting Democrat politicians like my kids collect Pokemon cards,” he said. “I think all of the criticism of Musk coming from the left is totally hypocritical, totally over the top, and he is doing something interesting: bringing some transparency to the federal government, it’s not a terrible thing.&#8221;
Trump himself addressed the media narrative from the stage at Turning Point USA&#8217;s America Fest in Phoenix, Arizona, saying that he had no concerns about Musk usurping the office. &#8220;No, he’s not going to be president, that I can tell you,” Trump said. &#8220;You know why he can’t be [president]? Attorney Neal Katyal said on Sunday that he believed President-elect Donald Trump was trying to &#8220;bait&#8221; President Joe Biden into offering ousted Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) a pardon, arguing he&#8217;d then use that as evidence that she&#8217;d done something wrong.
Katyal spoke with former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on her Sunday morning MSNBC show, &#8220;Inside with Jen Psaki,&#8221; and <a href="https://x.com/InsideWithPsaki/status/1870910046034686087" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he argued</a> that if Biden were to pardon Cheney — in an effort to insulate her from retaliatory prosecution over her involvement in the January 6th Committee&#8217;s investigation — it might actually help Trump to go after her in the court of public opinion.

Katyal&#8217;s logic was simple: a pardon for Cheney, despite the fact that she hasn&#8217;t yet been charged with anything, would give credence to claims that she may have committed a crime that would required her to be pardoned.
&#8220;I think what Trump is trying to do here is to bait President Biden into pardoning Liz Cheney, and that&#8217;ll allow Trump to say, ‘Hey, look even Biden thinks Liz Cheney did something wrong,'&#8221; he explained. If he were able to cast doubt on Cheney&#8217;s role in the investigation, he could then also argue that, by extension, the entirety of the investigation was tainted and thus justify the pardons he wants to issue for those who were convicted on charges related to the riot on Capitol Hill and the breach of the U.S. Capitol.
Katyal also argued that if Cheney was ever charged for anything related to her work as a part of that committee, <a href="https://www.threads.net/@insidewithpsaki/post/DD5FdTsNz3z?xmt=AQGzPTMhwv89y4WApOiwaLKWXQU1T22bvJCka0hLKs9uyQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nothing was likely to stick</a>.
&#8220;It would fail right at the get go, not just because there&#8217;s no crime here or any credible allegation, but also because Liz Cheney, as a member of Congress at the time, is entitled to the constitutional protection of speech or debate immunity,&#8221; he told Psaki.

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle praised President-elect Donald Trump this week for being far more accessible to journalists than his Democrat counterpart, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Ruhle is an adherent defender of Harris, and made waves when she gave a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/msnbc-anchor-makes-excuses-for-kamala-after-interview-yields-heaping-bowl-of-word-salad" target="_blank" rel="noopener">softball interview</a> to the VP during the election and later defended Harris for her non-answers.
&#8220;I rolled the dice and I called him on the phone,&#8221; Ruhle said about reaching out to Trump after his Madison Square Garden rally. &#8220;And he answered!&#8221;
The MSNBC anchor <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DDr80Coujuf/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> &#8220;So Many Issues&#8221; host Lukas Thimm that she asked Trump for an interview on the call. Trump told her no, and Ruhle joked that he told her, go f*** yourself, but emphasized that she was at least able to get through to Trump. Harris and President Joe Biden, on the other hand, have dozens of handlers between them before you can even get in some sort of contact, Ruhle explained.
&#8220;I wasn’t calling to chit-chat,&#8221; Ruhle continued. &#8220;I called for one reason, I said, ‘You just said a whole bunch of public things. I’d like to sit down for an interview with you. We’ve got five days before the election.’ &#8230; I said, &#8216;I want an interview.&#8217; Obviously, he said no.&#8221;

Reiterating the point, Thimm posted the clip of Ruhle on social media and stressed that &#8220;politicians need to adapt&#8221; to the changing landscape.

For those who don&#8217;t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week&#8217;s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
With less than two weeks to go before Christmas — and just over a month before President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated to serve a second term in the White House — the news cycle is as jumbled as ever. Some of the focus remains overseas, as unrest continues to to rule the day in Syria after the fall of Bashar al-Assad — but things at home are also quite literally &#8220;up in the air&#8221; as rumors swirl about mysterious drone sightings over states along the east coast.
After multiple reports of the strange aerial phenomena — many of which seem to be concentrated in northern New Jersey — local officials have admitted to being completely baffled and federal authorities have done little to dispel fears that all is not exactly what it seems.
During the week, the FBI <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dhs-fbi-release-statement-about-drone-sightings-in-new-jersey" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released a statement</a> alongside the Department of Homeland Security, claiming that the majority of the sightings had likely been manned aircraft operating in a lawful manner — and while they could not give a definitive answer on what the people were seeing, they were certain that the public was not at any risk.
On ABC&#8217;s &#8220;This Week,&#8221; Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted that some of the sightings were, in fact, drones — but again said that he did not believe anyone was in danger.
&#8220;There’s no question that drones are being sighted…There are thousands of drones flown every day in the United States — recreational drones, commercial drones,&#8221; Mayorkas said, apparently suggesting that the things people were seeing were not really anything out of the ordinary.

Mayorkas also responded to claims that the drones were potentially being sent or operated by foreign adversaries, saying that he did not have any information leading him to believe that. Mayorkas told ABC host George Stephanopoulos that he had heard of &#8220;no foreign involvement with respect to the sightings in the Northeast.&#8221;

But former Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) also weighed in on the issue, and he pointed out the fact that the longer the American people went without any definitive answers, the more likely it was that conspiracy theories would run wild about what they could be seeing.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve lived in New Jersey my whole life,&#8221; the former governor explained. &#8220;This is the first time that I&#8217;ve noticed drones over my house.&#8221;

Klobuchar also took some time to discuss a slew of pardons and commutations issued by President Joe Biden as his presidency nears its end.
While Biden&#8217;s Thanksgiving weekend pardon for his embattled son Hunter Biden certainly raised the most eyebrows — on both sides of the political aisle — Klobuchar noted that just by sheer volume, Biden was testing the limits of what she found to be acceptable.
Klobuchar first said that she was among those who did not like the fact that Biden had pardoned his son — but then said she also worried about the some 1500 sentence commutations he issued in the past week.
She proposed an &#8220;outside board&#8221; to aid the president in selecting cases for pardons or sentence commutations &#8220;instead of people just doing it in the middle of the night, and people in the White House — this makes no sense to me.&#8221;
&#8220;This whole process cries out for reform, because otherwise you undermine the justice system,&#8221; she added.

But on CNN&#8217;s &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; retiring Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) said that despite having often been at odds with Trump himself, he was not overly concerned that the president-elect might use the Justice Department to attack those who had opposed him.
&#8220;I&#8217;m not particularly worried about criminal investigations,&#8221; he told anchor Jake Tapper. &#8220;I think President Trump is likely to try and focus on the future.&#8221;
