Momcozy is a top choice for mothers when they purchase a breast pump, but a potential connection with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has raised concerns about customers&#8217; personal information being harvested by the Chinese.
Since Momcozy is a Chinese-based company, it could be required to share information with the group under China’s laws. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) — who chairs the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee — expressed his unease with Momcozy possibly sharing customers&#8217; information with the CCP.
“We have already seen cases where foreign adversaries such as China have sought to exploit U.S. laws to acquire information that could be used against individuals and our national interests,” he explained in a letter sent to Momcozy on Wednesday that was obtained by The Daily Wire.
The HELP Committee, led by Cassidy, recently launched an investigation following the U.S. Department of Education’s report revealing that foreign entities aligned with the CCP were trying to “influence American universities.&#8221; He also has looked into numerous cybersecurity lapses that put private American data at risk.
The private information that is shared with Momcozy not only puts the parents at a potential risk, but their newborns as well, according to Cassidy.
“As we consider steps to protect families from having their information misused, we must pay particular attention to protecting the safety of our children,” Cassidy wrote.
The HELP Committee sent a letter to the chief executive officer of Momcozy, Athena Pan, Wednesday afternoon to better understand how Momcozy protects the privacy of these families.
In the letter, the HELP Committee addressed three specific protocols that Momcozy follows, requesting answers to numerous questions regarding how privacy is protected. The three protocols targeted are “detailed person information” that is collected, Momcozy’s headquarters in China, where the information is “transferred” and “processed,&#8221; and products connecting to Momcozy’s app via bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
The Senate committee also raised questions regarding Momcozy&#8217;s use of information, what personal information is actually being stored, and any sharing of information with the Chinese Communist Party. 
&#8220;In the last five years, has Momcozy shared any information of individuals who reside in the United States with the Chinese Communist Party or the Chinese government?&#8221; the letter asks, adding, &#8220;What privacy and security protocols does Momcozy have in place to ensure this information is not improperly accessed?&#8221;
The HELP Committee requests answers to their questions by July 6, 2026.
Momcozy did not respond to The Daily Wire&#8217;s request to comment.

Olivia and Liam remain America&#8217;s most popular baby names for the seventh year, according to the <a href="https://www.ssa.gov/news/en/press/releases/2026-05-08.html">Social Security Administration (SSA).</a>
<a href="https://www.aarp.org/social-security/most-popular-baby-names-2025/">The new rankings</a> marked Liam’s ninth consecutive year as the most popular name. Liam — an Irish form of William — first claimed the top spot in 2017 and has remained there ever since. Olivia, whose name derives from the Latin word for “olive tree,” joined Liam at No. 1 in 2019, ending Emma’s five-year streak as the most popular girls’ name.

The list comes as policymakers renew efforts to support mothers and families amid a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/america-is-on-track-to-literally-die-off-new-fertility-data-warns">plummeting, record-low birthrate</a>.
On Mother&#8217;s Day, the White House launched a website to help expectant mothers locate pregnancy centers and learn about health and wellness, a move framed as a nod to the pro-life and &#8220;Make America Healthy Again&#8221; movements, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-white-house-launches-moms-gov-a-win-for-pro-life-and-maha-movements">The Daily Wire exclusively reported</a>.
<a href="https://www.moms.gov/">Moms.gov</a> addresses “the needs of mothers and fathers who face difficult or unexpected pregnancies and [ensures] the wellbeing of mothers and the health of American families,” the White House said in a statement.

The website also features information on the Department of Health and Human Services’ new dietary guidelines, along with nutrition resources for expectant mothers and details on Trump Accounts and Trump RX offerings for those hoping to conceive.
America is not alone in falling birth rates. In England and Wales, the fertility rate fell to a record low of 1.41 in 2024, marking the third straight year of decline, <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/bulletin/news/uk-birth-rate-motherhood-cost-of-living-crisis-b2949745.html">according to The Independent.</a> Across the pond, however, baby-name trends look a bit different, with <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly4g2v0ej6o">Muhammad recently surpassing Noah</a> as the most popular boys’ name.

When well-meaning people tell expectant moms that “motherhood changes you,” they may be more right than they know. A new study by brain scientists in the Netherlands suggests that a mother’s brain undergoes distinct changes after having a second child that seem to help her adapt to caring for her growing family.
A decade ago, a related study found that women’s brains lose gray matter after having a first child, and the changes last for years — something researcher Elseline Hoekzema referred to as “<a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2016/12/22/health/pregnancy-brain-changes/index.html">synaptic pruning</a>.” Second-time mothers’ brains appear to be “more strongly altered in networks involved in reacting to sensory cues and in controlling your attention,” researcher Milou Straathof <a href="https://medicalxpress.com/news/2026-02-pregnancy-uniquely-female-brain.html">said</a> of the recent study.
The new study, detailed in an <a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-026-69370-8">article</a> published in February, found that the changes were distinct enough that “women could significantly be classified as having undergone a first or a second pregnancy based solely on their brain changes between sessions.” X user Anish Moonka <a href="https://x.com/anishmoonka/status/2049010221847310400">shared</a> a synopsis of the study ahead of Mother’s Day, causing many moms to comment that they were thankful to know their so-called mom brain moments, though frustrating, had an underlying purpose.
“It&#8217;s incredibly important to study how pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting affect the brains of women (and men, too). The majority of adults become parents at some point in their lifespan, but there are still major gaps in our understanding of how the transition to parenthood affects our neurobiology, cognition, health, and brain aging,” psychologist and professor Darby Saxbe, author of the forthcoming book &#8220;<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Dad-Brain-Science-Fatherhood-Shapes/dp/1250387523">Dad Brain: The New Science of Fatherhood and How It Shapes Men&#8217;s Lives</a>,&#8221; told The Daily Wire in a statement. Saxbe is listed as a peer reviewer of the 2026 article.
The 2026 study involved 110 women who underwent MRI brain scans to examine data points such as gray matter volume, resting-state brain activity, and white matter tract organization. The women were divided into three groups: women pregnant with their first child, women pregnant with their second child, and a control group of women who were not pregnant.
Psychologist and licensed behavior analyst Lauren Mahoney, who teaches at the City University of New York, told The Daily Wire that the research tracks with her personal experience as a mother.
“After my first child, the shift felt internal. My attention narrowed in a way that almost felt protective,” Mahoney said. “I remember thinking how strange it was that I could pick up on the smallest cues but at the same time forget something as simple as why I walked into a room.”
“After my second child, the shift was entirely different,” she continued. “I had a very clear moment where I thought, ‘My brain doesn’t get to stay in one place anymore.’”
The concept of matrescence, the process of becoming a mother, is important for women to be aware of, experts told The Daily Wire. Many people describe it as the process of transforming from maiden to mother. 
“Another important piece of the research is that the most significant changes in first-time mothers occur in the default mode network, which is heavily involved in self-referential thinking and understanding other people’s thoughts and emotions,” Mahoney said. “That helps explain why first-time mothers often describe such a profound identity shift. They are not just caring for a child. Their brain is actively reorganizing how they understand themselves in relation to another human being. By the second pregnancy, that system has already adapted. So instead of restructuring identity again, the brain appears to refine and build capacity for managing complexity. That is where the shift toward attention and action systems becomes so important.”
The findings of the study weren’t a total surprise for researchers who have conducted similar studies with animals and had similar findings, said neuroscientist <a href="https://www.jodipawluski.com/">Jodi Pawluski</a>, author of the book &#8220;<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Mommy-Brain-Discover-amazing-maternal/dp/1772584878">Mommy Brain</a>.&#8221; Pawluski said the new study may point out the obvious (or at least what is obvious to experts) — that a second-time mom experiences changes in neural networks related to attention, sensory, and motor pathways — but it’s still very important research to build on.
“The majority of the research we have on the maternal brain has focused on how becoming a mother for the first time is related to changes in the brain,” Pawluski told The Daily Wire in a statement. “However, the majority of mothers have more than one child, so understanding how the second (or third, or fourth) time impacts a mother&#8217;s brain is incredibly important to ensure we are doing all that we can to support mothers and families.”
The authors of the new study were also interested in how these brain changes correlate with mother-baby bonding and peripartum mood. The article states that for both groups of pregnant women, less pronounced brain changes were linked to depression.
Many people underestimate the amazing nature of the mother-baby connection, Dr. Kristin M. Collier, associate professor of medicine at the University of Michigan, told The Daily Wire, <a href="https://churchlifejournal.nd.edu/articles/a-relational-theology-of-biology/">citing research</a> that shows that a mother’s voice can affect her child’s brain structure, can influence her baby’s heart rate, and is likely a key factor in her child’s development of language.
The new study could contain meaningful information for moms going about their everyday lives, Mahoney said. Most importantly, she wants moms to give themselves grace when they feel like they no longer function the way they did before having children.
“The difficulty focusing, the constant mental switching, [and] the feeling of being cognitively stretched are often interpreted as personal shortcomings, when in reality they reflect a brain that has adapted to manage complexity and unpredictability,” she said. “When women understand this, there is often an immediate shift from self-criticism to self-compassion. They begin to work with their brain instead of against it. That might look like structuring tasks differently, allowing for more flexible attention, or recognizing that efficiency now looks like responsiveness rather than sustained focus.”
Either way, moms can be grateful for scientific proof that their &#8220;mom brain&#8221; is actually their superpower.

For years, the abortion debate has been framed almost exclusively around law and ideology. But behind the slogans are women making deeply personal decisions often under intense financial pressure. <a href="https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3729671/">National research</a> consistently shows that the cost of raising children, especially childcare, weighs heavily on those decisions.
March 12 is National Working Moms Day. At Human Coalition, we are taking this moment to celebrate the hardworking moms we serve as the nation&#8217;s most trusted life-affirming alternative to Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry. Every day, we serve pregnant women who are already working to support their other children and fearing that they can&#8217;t possibly welcome another child in their current circumstances. 
But if we’re serious about honoring working moms, we need to confront an uncomfortable truth: childcare is one of the most consequential factors shaping decisions about work, family, and even abortion. 
According to Human Coalition, a national pro-life organization that serves thousands of pregnant women each year, <a href="https://www.humancoalition.org/impact/blog/continuum-of-care/">76%</a> of women seeking abortion say they would prefer to parent if circumstances were different, and financial reasons figure prominently in many of those decisions. Nearly 40% cite <a href="https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3729671/">economic concerns overall</a>, and more than one in four say they “<a href="https://www.guttmacher.org/sites/default/files/pdfs/pubs/psrh/full/3711005.pdf">can’t afford a baby and childcare</a>.” 
These are not abstract statistics. They represent women staring at bank accounts, calculating rent, daycare, groceries, and gas, and concluding they have no room left for a new baby.
Consider “<a href="https://www.humancoalition.org/impact/blog/how-does-childcare-affect-a-womans-abortion-decision/">Cindy.</a>&#8220;
When she first came to Human Coalition, pregnant with her second child, Cindy was overwhelmed and unsure whether she could choose life. With practical support, she completed her GED, secured childcare vouchers, and started working. Stability seemed within reach.
Then her employer changed her hours. She lost childcare. Without childcare, she lost her job. One scheduling shift unraveled everything.
Human Coalition walked with her again, helping her regain stability. But Cindy’s story illustrates a broader reality: for many working-class mothers, childcare access is fragile. One disruption can mean lost income, lost opportunity, and a life thrown off track.
That’s why recent reforms in the Working Families Tax Cut deserve real attention.
The legislation included meaningful steps to strengthen childcare access and expand flexibility for working- and middle-class parents. Lawmakers <a href="https://www.ffyf.org/policy-priorities/tax-policy-and-child-care/#:~:text=The%20tax%20code%20was%20updated%20in%20July,or%20provide%20child%20care%20for%20their%20workforce">reinforced funding</a> streams by increasing the Child &amp; Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC), expanding dependent care assistance program (DCAP) limits to $7,500, and boosting the Employer-Provided Child Care Credit (Section 45F) to encourage business-supported care.
The bill also modernized certain eligibility pathways and acknowledged something working mothers have long understood: that affordable childcare isn&#8217;t a subsidy for working parents; it&#8217;s a foundation for a culture that makes room for new life.
And without accessible childcare, financial stability slips away for some of the most vulnerable moms in our nation.
These reforms matter because the cost burden is staggering. In 2024, parents reported spending roughly 22% of their income on childcare and nearly 30% of their savings just to maintain it. A new<a href="https://americanfamilysurvey.byu.edu/american-family-survey-2025"> 2025 American Family Survey</a> showed that the average annual price of center-based child care is $15,570, rivaling mortgage payments in many communities.
And even when families can afford care, they often can’t find it. More than half of Americans live in a “<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/childcare-deserts-labor-shortage-infrastructure-affordable-childcare-working-parents-2021-11">childcare desert</a>,” where there are at least three children for every licensed childcare slot.
This isn’t just an affordability crisis. It’s an access crisis.
The cultural conversation often assumes Americans don’t want families anymore. The data tell a different story.
A 2024 peer-reviewed paper from scholars Lyman Stone and Clara Piano found that states with less restrictive childcare regulations have meaningfully smaller “<a href="https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/coep.12677">fertility gaps,</a>” which represent the gap between how many children women say they want and how many they actually have. In the state with the most burdensome regulations, simply adopting the regulatory environment of the least restrictive state would increase fertility rates by roughly 13%. 
Strikingly, in every state, the average desired family size remains above the replacement level of 2.1 children.
Women want children. They need the structural support that makes those children economically possible.
The goal here isn’t to replace immediate family or community support with government. It’s to remove unnecessary barriers that make family formation financially perilous. Smart childcare reform can expand options for those who need them most. If we want stronger families, a healthier economy, and a culture where moms don’t feel forced into abortion by their circumstances, we cannot ignore the role childcare plays in all three.
National Working Moms Day shouldn’t be reduced to social media tributes and corporate platitudes. It should prompt serious reflection about the policies shaping women’s real-life experiences. For many women standing at the edge of a decision between life and death for their unborn child, it can be an undeniably pro-life policy.
We’ve made meaningful progress. But until no woman feels cornered into a permanent decision because of a temporary economic barrier, our work isn’t done.

I grew up believing America is the land of opportunity. Over the last few years, however, I have begun to wonder if that America still exists. Are we still the kind of nation where children can realistically pursue happiness, homeownership, and the American Dream?
Even in the face of endless division and media narratives designed to make families doubt it, I believe, perhaps now more than ever, the answer is yes. That’s due in large part to the Trump administration introducing <a href="https://trumpaccounts.gov/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">Trump Accounts</a>, a major step in setting American children up for success. And that means a lot to this mother of three with a newborn at home.
During the Biden years, I was genuinely scared about the financial state of our country. Inflation was out of control, crime was rising, and the value of the dollar felt meaningless. I couldn’t help but wonder if my kids would ever be able to afford homes, raise families, or even live independently in the country I love.
That fear is exactly why <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/restoring-america/3209769/why-mothers-should-back-trump/">I pleaded</a> with other moms to vote for Donald Trump. And now, everything feels different.
Last month, I gave birth to my youngest daughter, Monroe Lee, a name rooted in American history. And for the first time in years, I feel something I haven’t felt in a long time about this country, real hope for the American Dream. Inflation and crime are down, and Wall Street can’t outbid first-time home buyers. Under President Trump, the American Dream feels alive and well again.
That’s why Trump Accounts hit me personally.
These investment accounts are brilliant in their simplicity. This isn’t some complicated, exclusive program — it’s a literal capital investment that starts growing right away. A $1,000 jumpstart for a better future.
If we want our nation to prosper, we must facilitate individual prosperity, and one of the easiest ways to kickstart long-term, widespread opportunity is to give every child a personal stake in the nation’s success from day one. Not only will they grow into more financially independent adults — reducing long-term reliance on government programs — but they will be literal stakeholders in America’s prosperity itself. Under current guidance, parents, employers, and even philanthropists can add to these accounts, and contributions are invested in low-cost, diversified funds designed for growth.

This is the kind of financial opportunity that creates generational wealth — something that has, for too long, mostly been accessible only to the already wealthy. But Trump Accounts change that by giving every child a tangible financial head start.
The tragic reality is that most Americans lack the kind of financial literacy and experience that builds wealth. That’s why it often seems that the rich get richer: they know what they’re doing, and oftentimes they have a head start. While the American Dream provides endless opportunities, that means little to those who don’t know how to take advantage of them. But Trump Accounts make it as easy as it’s ever going to get to <a href="https://time.com/7358662/trump-accounts-babies-kids-investment-businesses/">break the curse of generational poverty</a> and shrink economic disparities.
Hard-working Americans — parents, grandparents, employers, and even outside donors like Michael and Susan Dell — can contribute to these accounts over the years so kids can watch their money grow with them. Major financial firms have committed to <a href="https://people.com/jpmorgan-chase-bank-of-america-match-employees-trump-accounts-11894873">matching contributions</a> for employees’ children, and some philanthropic investments provide additional seed funds for those who otherwise might be left out. 
Even just that sense of security in knowing there’s money in the bank can pave the way for children to pursue greater opportunities as they unfold before them. By the end of President Trump’s term, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/society-equity/bessent-says-500000-have-signed-up-trump-accounts-more-donations-coming-2026-01-28/">25 million American children</a> could have investment accounts growing in their name — if only parents and families simply take advantage of this opportunity.
As a mother, I’m perpetually thinking about the long game: Am I teaching my kids the skills they’ll need as they grow? Am I instilling values that lead to success? Am I doing everything I can to set them up for happiness and prosperity? But it isn’t just parents who should be thinking about these things. The whole nation should consider what we are doing now to build a better future for those coming after us.
At the very least, every American child now has equal access to a seeded investment portfolio, regardless of race, creed, or economic status, thus creating unprecedented possibilities for tens of millions of Americans through generations to come. The clichés are real — the best time to start was yesterday, but the second-best time is now, because now is when their future starts.

In an era of spiraling political absurdity, America finds itself squandering precious time and resources on what should be one of the most straightforward, apolitical facts of human existence: only women can get pregnant.
Even Democrat strategist James Carville recently <a href="https://x.com/GrabienMedia/status/2012559321582772621">mocked the absurdity</a> of today’s gender politics on Fox News, saying, “I’m not worried about getting pregnant. I have no idea why this is the number one issue in America.”
It’s time to stop pretending this point of view is controversial. As a mom, I’m calling for this political charade to end in 2026.
After many decades of modern scientific consensus, which follows centuries and even millennia of common sense on the subject, we’ve somehow devolved into laughably ridiculous disagreements over gender. This isn’t just science; it is the order of creation itself, designed by God with intention and clarity. But it is politically unserious to convene hearings where elected politicians and sitting Supreme Court Justices go through the motions of grilling so-called experts on a matter that, in terms of objective reality, isn’t even up for debate.
Imagine a congressional hearing on whether gravity affects everyone equally, or if some people can ‘identify’ as not being subject to such a narrow-minded and restrictive force. Or, imagine someone bringing a case before the Supreme Court to decide whether humans require oxygen to live, or if some could ‘identify’ as anaerobic and live on carbon dioxide alone. We, the serious masses, wouldn’t even entertain the conversation. We would turn our attention to real political issues like immigration, national security, or the economy, and not waste our time.
Speaking of which, I don’t have much time to waste these days. I just welcomed our third child in three years into this world. It was beautiful, painful, exhausting, and awe-inspiring; the kind of experience that reminds you just how extraordinary the female body truly is. God entrusted me to carry a child and give birth, something only a woman can do. A man is simply incapable of doing what I did. That isn’t opinion, it’s biological reality.
And as a mother who just gave birth, I’m exhausted that this ever became a political issue. Women shouldn’t have to fight to own something as fundamental as pregnancy.
Which is why I was so disgusted when I watched the congressional hearing where Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) questioned the so-called “expert,” and (somehow) certified OB/GYN, Dr. Nisha Verma.
Dr. Verma testified before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee on abortion pill safety. She represented Physicians for Reproductive Health, and Sen. Hawley asked her a simple question that has an objective, biological, common-sense answer: “Can men get pregnant?”
Dr. Verma, who definitely knows the answer, repeatedly dodged the question — insisting instead that it was a “political tool” that “polarized” the discussion and failed to capture the “complex experiences” of her patients. I wonder if Dr. Verma would also dodge questions about whether people could choose to live without oxygen or decide that gravity doesn’t apply to them. Would she claim such farcical questions are political tools that polarize?

That is really the crux of the issue here; none of this should be treated as a political issue. A serious nation would not waste another moment nor another taxpayer dollar entertaining such an unserious conversation. The entire premise should be dismissed outright as unworthy of the time it would take to even ask such a ludicrous question. Stop indulging delusion and start governing in reality.
Incredibly, this Senate hearing came just days after the Supreme Court heard arguments regarding men in women’s sports. Ironically, this is the same thing that happened to one of the sitting Justices during her confirmation hearing, when she was unable to answer a similar question — “What is a woman?” More incredible still, she and every other person still hung up on this issue suddenly know what a woman is when it comes to breaking the glass ceiling and placing the first black woman on the Supreme Court of the United States.
Suddenly, they all know what a woman is? Suddenly, that distinction matters? No, not suddenly. They always knew because it’s an objective, reality-based fact that isn’t up for debate, unless we pretend along with those who want to bend reality.
Even James Carville wasn’t just stating a fact; he was calling out how absurd the debate itself has become. His joke on Fox News wasn’t about biology; it was about how fake and manufactured this entire controversy is. But Democrats keep entertaining fiction to pander to rabid extremists and then expect the rest of the country to play along.
The bottom line is simple: there is no debate, so entertaining one is foolish. Polling consistently shows that most Americans are willing to publicly admit that they understand the biological reality of sex. Voters aren’t confused, but Washington is pretending to be. Americans are tired of political grandstanding on issues that don’t matter. And 2026 should be the year this nonsense ends.
It’s time to stop coddling absurdity as though we owe irrationality an esteemed seat at every table. One might say that when you wrestle with a pig in lipstick, it’s still a pig, and you both get dirty. It’s not respect, and it’s not compassion. It’s suicidal empathy. If we let lunacy hijack constructive conversation, we all crash together.

Traversing the tragic road of chronic illness is never an easy feat, especially when the victim is your child. However, nothing is more important than teaching a kid to resiliently aim upwards when life throws a curveball. 
But how do parents encourage their child when certain activities are not an option due to health issues? In the final episode of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/parenting">Parenting</a>,” Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down with parents Greer and Catherine to discuss their four-year-old’s chronic illness, as well as how to uplift him in creative activities. 
“Three weeks ago,” the father, Greer, said, “my wife and I learned that our four-year-old son was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition that is going to progress throughout his childhood and life to the point where he may lose the ability to use his feet, legs, hands, and arms.”
“We live on a cul-de-sac full of little boys,” the mother, Catherine, added. “He runs out and wants to play with them on the asphalt and, inevitably, he will bite the dust and faceplant on the asphalt. He wants to play with them and we want him to play with them.”
The parents went on to explain how their son is imaginative and creatively driven, as well as that he likes to play with older kids who will happily sit down and play games with him. 
Dr. Peterson informed the parents that their task is to help their son “find his way” in the non-physical activities he enjoys.
“You’ve already adapted to this,” Dr. Peterson said. “That’s worth knowing. The best predictor of future performance is past performance, and you already have a track record of that. You already know how to make the adaptations that are necessary for this particular child.”

The teenage years can present numerous challenges that parents must adapt to, and it’s vital for a child’s development that parents don’t give up on teaching them responsibility, even when they start talking back with an attitude. 
In the second full-length episode of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/parenting">Parenting</a>,” Dr. Jordan Peterson sits down with parents Jamie and Casey to talk through ways they can foster responsibility with their 13-year-old son, who is prone to throwing tantrums when he’s told something he doesn’t like. 
“We&#8217;ve got two kids, a 13-year-old and a 5-year-old,” the father, Casey, said. “Our 13-year-old, of course, was the only child for seven years. During that time, we spoiled the heck out of him because I grew up with nothing. And Jamie grew up in a household where things were love.”
“We both ended up funneling our attention on our children into things for those two reasons,” Casey added. “As a result, our 13-year-old throws tantrums quite often, loud screaming tantrums when he doesn&#8217;t get his way. And we&#8217;re trying to figure out how to get him through this part of his life to become a responsible adult.”

The parents asked Peterson how they can handle their teen’s behavior and push him in the right direction. 
“I think it helps when I talk to him like a human being,” Jamie said. “So if I ask him to do dishes or I say, ‘I really need you to help me with this, do you think you can do that?’ And he’ll say, ‘Yes.’”
Peterson then pointed to multiple questions parents can ask their children about contributing to household needs. 
“Well, he&#8217;s old enough to start thinking about that because he may never even notice that if he does pull his weight, he feels better about himself, and he&#8217;s more mature,” Peterson said.

So, how do you get through to your toddler in those difficult moments and reward them when they do good? Those are some of the questions that parents are asking Dr. Jordan Peterson in the first full-length episode of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/parenting?row=0&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;rowType=Square+Show+Carousel">Parenting</a>,” which is now streaming exclusively on DailyWire+. 
“So we&#8217;re here because we want to foster a spirit of cooperation within our family,” a father named Nathan told Peterson. “Right now, we&#8217;re dealing with a pattern of behaviors with mainly our son, who&#8217;s three years old. Whenever we want to leave the house or cleaning up, sometimes he agrees … and then he starts running away. And I can always sort of pin him down to [put on] a jacket. Although I don&#8217;t think that&#8217;s a viable strategy over the long term.”
“Finding that balance. This is what we have to do. And we have to do it now,” Nathan’s wife, Jasmine, added. “But at the same time, we don&#8217;t want to crush that independence, autonomy, curiosity. So we need that balance.” 
Nathan and Jasmine said that they have a disciplinary issue with their toddler “at least three times a day” with outbursts that can last up to 30 minutes. “Just him running around, throwing his jacket on the floor,” Jasmine added. “Other times, let&#8217;s say it has to do with picking up his toys, I ask him to do it. He says, ‘No, my legs are broken.’” 
“Oh yeah, that’s creative,” Peterson said.

The world-renowned psychologist then dissects why their child might be testing boundaries and goes through strategies that the young parents can use to align their toddler with their desires for him. 
Later in the episode, Peterson highlights the importance of rewarding young children when they go “out of their way to do something slightly better, or maybe a lot better than they have before, or just doing something that&#8217;s thoughtful or kind, or that helps the family come together.” 
“If I&#8217;m giving a reward, how do I teach the value that we&#8217;re cooperating? We&#8217;re getting trust because that&#8217;s actually a family value. As opposed to, I&#8217;m just going to get a reward out of this. Like how do you translate the bigger value?” Jasmine asked Peterson. 
Peterson goes into how parents “have to use reward carefully,” giving parents examples of how to encourage and praise their children’s good behavior.

“The walls are there because they protect you from the outset and circumscribe a space, and a garden is a place where nature can flourish. If you set up a walled garden in your household properly, your children will play. That will give you a chance to play with your wife, which you want if you have any sense. The emergence of play in your household is an index of optimized harmony.&#8221;

Dr. Peterson argued that boundaries are crucial in minimizing anxiety so this “play” can flourish. 
&#8220;Boundaries as a fence reduce anxiety, and that&#8217;s the same thing with stable household rules,&#8221; he added. &#8220;You might say the rules are restrictions, but what they&#8217;re really restricting is the chaos that produces anxiety… Boundaries, in the abstract sense of the principles by which you run the household, produce the kind of predictable stability within which play and exploration can take place — and they quell anxiety. You&#8217;re doing your child and you and your wife a great favor by imposing that regularity.”
These boundaries, according to Dr. Peterson, are the grounds on which parents fulfill their obligation to shape their children. 
&#8220;Your role as a parent — there’s two that are fundamental,” he said. “One is to encourage your child to be maximally socially acceptable, and you want to have that more or less in place by the age of 4, or there will be trouble, and it will be severe and hard to fix. And then your household should be a proxy for the real world, which means that it&#8217;s your responsibility as a parent to encourage behavior in the household that would translate well to the real world.”
