<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Following years of declining popularity and lackluster sales, </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/victorias-secret"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Victoria’s Secret</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> brought back their once-popular runway fashion show, this time including two male </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/models"><span style="font-weight: 400;">models</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> who identify as </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender"><span style="font-weight: 400;">transgender</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show started in 1995. It featured supermodels, or “Angels,” strutting the runway in lingerie and other high-end styles from the brand. The show was put on hiatus in 2019 following public backlash over body image expectations and the general content of the show. Many critics on the Left complained it wasn&#8217;t inclusive of body types or race, and accused the show of lacking LGBTQ representation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the following years, the brand moved away from “Angels” and instead made ambassadors out of &#8220;accomplished women,&#8221; such as soccer star and leftist activist Megan Rapinoe, actress Priyanka Chopra, and trans-identifying model Valentina Sampaio.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The fashion show returned to Brooklyn on Tuesday night. This time, the runway lineup included two trans-identified models in skimpy lingerie. Alex Consani and Sampaio participated in the show, while another trans-identifying male model for the brand, Emira D’Spain, sat in the front row.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Other models who walked the runway included industry veterans Kate Moss, Alessandra Ambrosio, Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima, and sisters Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A representative from Victoria&#8217;s Secret told </span><a href="https://people.com/tyra-banks-gigi-hadid-announce-2024-victorias-secret-fashion-show-details-8702976"><span style="font-weight: 400;">People</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in an earlier statement that this year’s presentation aimed to &#8220;deliver precisely what our customers have been asking for—the glamour, runway, fashion, fun, wings, entertainment—all through a powerful, modern lens reflecting who we are today.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sampaio told Marie Claire that being included in the show was a “major victory for trans people.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Being a trans woman often means facing a closed door to people&#8217;s hearts and minds. So working with Victoria’s Secret meant everything to me,” the Victoria’s Secret ambassador </span><a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/fashion/valentina-sampaio-victorias-secret-fashion-show-2024-interview/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">said</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Lingerie carries a deeply personal meaning for me—as a child, it represented an inspirational symbol of femininity, and it still does,&#8221; Sampaio added. &#8220;Sometimes when I put it on, it reminds me of my journey, of all I had to overcome to be who and where I am today.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Social media reactions to the revived Victoria’s Secret fashion show were largely negative. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The company, owned by Australian &#8220;body positive influencer&#8221; Karina Irby, posted on its Instagram account a </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C2QyRMgS6MB/?hl=en"><span style="font-weight: 400;">video</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> of male model </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jake Young wearing a very revealing &#8220;SUGAR SLINKY&#8221; one-piece, the </span><a href="https://nypost.com/2024/01/22/news/moana-bikini-defends-using-male-model/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">New York Post</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> reported. The brand markets itself as &#8220;swimwear designed for every BODY!&#8221;</span></p>
<p>Social media users commented on the post and said they were done being customers after seeing the ad.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;This is not only in terms of our size and style range for women, but — most importantly — in our love and acceptance of all races, ethnicities, body shapes and sizes, genders and sexual orientations,&#8221; the spokesperson said. &#8220;This hasn&#8217;t changed and never will change.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Many commenters are using the excuse that they believe it is &#8216;insulting to women&#8217; when in reality, it&#8217;s quite clear they are homophobic and have an issue with someone expressing their sexuality proudly and confidently,&#8221; the spokesperson added.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Imagine living a life where you choose to be offended by something and stick around, comment and engage only to make yourself more and more angry,&#8221; the spokesperson continued. &#8220;This sounds like a &#8216;them&#8217; problem, not an &#8216;us&#8217; problem to be honest.&#8221;</span></p>

<p>Maxim magazine named a biological male and former Australian rules football player, Danielle Laidley, to its &#8220;Hottest 100 Women&#8221; list in Australia for 2023, with the trans-identifying man landing in the number 92 spot.</p>
<p>Laidley, who played and coached in the Australian Football League (AFL), joins actress <a href="https://x.com/picsofrobbie/status/1714676489998815572?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Margot Robbie</a> on the &#8220;Hot List,&#8221; who was named the hottest woman for the fourth time.</p>
<p>The magazine released the list on Wednesday and is being blasted not only for honoring a biological male in a list of hot women, but also because three years ago Laidley, who formerly went by the first name of Dean, was arrested for stalking, <a href="https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/ex-afl-coach-admits-stalking-woman-but-spared-more-time-in-custody-20201118-p56fnq.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Age</a> noted.</p>
<p>In 2020, the Maxim honoree reportedly pleaded guilty to stalking after repeatedly making calls and sending text messages to a woman, also sitting in a car outside her home watching and photographing her, the outlet noted.</p>
