A wealthy Russian former MMA fighter has been <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15684583/Wealthy-Russian-beat-girlfriend-FaceTiming-Barron-Trump-jailed-four-years.html">sentenced to four years in prison</a> following a violent, jealousy-fueled rampage in a London apartment, an attack that was interrupted by an unlikely witness: Barron Trump.
Matvei Rumiantsev, 22, the son of a prominent Russian coffee tycoon, was sentenced Friday at Snaresbrook Crown Court, concluding a high-profile case centered on a brutal, hour-long attack during which the victim feared she &#8220;might die.&#8221;
Prosecutors said Rumiantsev flew into a &#8220;jealous rage&#8221; in January last year after discovering the victim’s friendship with President Donald Trump’s youngest son. The violence escalated when Rumiantsev answered a FaceTime call from Barron on the woman’s phone.
During the call, Rumiantsev showed Barron the woman’s face before grabbing her by the hair, throwing her to the floor, and kicking her in the stomach while calling her a “slut” and a “whore,” according to court testimony.
Despite being thousands of miles away in Florida at the time, Barron Trump, then 18, spent several minutes trying to figure out how to contact British emergency services. In a recorded 999 call played for the jury, he told operators: &#8220;I just got a call from a girl … she’s getting beat up. It’s really an emergency, please.&#8221;
The victim later <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15505703/Russian-ex-MMA-fighter-guilty-beating-girlfriend-FaceTiming-Barron-Trump-cleared-raping-her.html">testified</a> that Barron Trump “helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment.&#8221;
In sentencing, the judge delivered a stinging rebuke of Rumiantsev’s character, describing him as &#8220;given to jealousy&#8221; and possessing a volatile temper. The judge also criticized Rumiantsev for being &#8220;totally unrepentant,&#8221; continuing to blame the victim and refusing to take responsibility.
&#8220;Your lack of insight and empathy was apparent at trial,&#8221; the judge said.
Rumiantsev was sentenced for actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice. The latter charge stemmed from what the court described as &#8220;repeated efforts&#8221; to subvert the legal process. After his arrest, he used a police station phone to pressure the victim and later wrote to her from Belmarsh prison, convincing her to briefly withdraw her statement before she eventually retracted the withdrawal.
Rumiantsev, who attended an elite £80,000-a-year boarding school in Cambridge, was cleared of charges of rape and strangulation. However, the judge noted the severity of the sustained physical attack.
The legal consequences for the Russian national may extend beyond his prison term; Justice Bennathan warned Rumiantsev that he now faces the possibility of deportation from the United Kingdom following the completion of his sentence.

Five years after Disney+ fired Gina Carano from “The Mandalorian” for expressing her opinion via social media posts, the actress and former MMA fighter is coming back into the spotlight, literally.
Netflix <a href="https://www.netflix.com/tudum/features/ronda-rousey-gina-carano-mma-live-on-netflix">announced on Monday</a> that Carano will face off against MMA competitor Ronda Rousey in a live, professionally sanctioned fight on Saturday, May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The event marks Netflix&#8217;s first-ever mixed martial arts event and is being co-promoted by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the combat sports company co-founded by Jake Paul.
The fight will take place at featherweight, 145 lbs, inside a hexagon cage instead of the traditional UFC octagon. The format will be up to five 5-minute rounds under the Unified Rules of MMA.
Carano holds an MMA record of 7-1 with wins by submission, knockout, and decision, and her earlier Muay Thai record is 12-1-1. She has not competed since 2009. Rousey has a 12-2 record, but has not competed in the sport in a decade following a WWE career.
“Been waiting so long to announce this: Me and Gina Carano are gonna throw down in the biggest super fight in women’s combat sport history!” Rousey <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/gina-carano-ronda-rousey-netflix-mma-fight-the-mandalorian-1236507548/">said</a> in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. “And we’re partnering with the fighter-first promotion MVP as well as the biggest and baddest streamer on the planet Netflix. This is for all MMA fans past, present and future. More to come… much more.”
“Ronda came to me and said there is only one person she would make a comeback for and it has been her dream to make this fight happen between us,” Carano said. “She thanked me for opening up doors for her in her career and was respectful in asking for this fight to happen. This is an honor. I believe I will walk out of this fight with the win and I anticipate it will not come easy, which I welcome. This is as much for Ronda and me as it is for the fans and mixed martial arts community. What a time to be alive.”
This un-cancellation comes just a few short years after Carano was abruptly fired from “The Mandalorian” in February 2021 after Lucasfilm objected to her social media posts.
The firing was widely condemned by conservatives as a case of Hollywood cancel culture. Carano filed a lawsuit against Disney alleging she was wrongfully terminated for her political beliefs.
Shortly after the high-profile termination, Carano partnered with The Daily Wire for a movie deal that resulted in the feature film “Terror on the Prairie,” which premiered in June 2022.

An MMA fighter in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/florida" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florida</a> removed an alligator from a road in Jacksonville this week by wrestling with it with his bare hands.
Video showed licensed trapper Mike Dragich, known in the MMA world as &#8220;Blue Collar Brawler,&#8221; chasing down the reptile near a strip mall on Sunday evening.
Dragich was reportedly in the area to attend a Jacksonville Icemen minor league hockey game when he got the call from law enforcement. It was because he was at the game that he did not have his equipment and had to use his bare hands.
“I was at a hockey game in downtown Jacksonville with my family,” Dragich <a href="https://www.news4jax.com/news/local/2024/04/22/florida-man-uses-bare-hands-to-remove-8-foot-gator-from-busy-road/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> News4JAX. “Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office called the emergency alligator situation to FWC and I was dispatched. It was only five minutes from the game, so I literally left the game, caught the alligator, and then went back to the game.”
The Tampa Bay Times <a href="https://www.tampabay.com/news/bizarre/2024/04/23/mike-dragich-alligator-wrestling-video-jacksonville-florida/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that the ranked middleweight fighter has a 2-2-0 record, but hasn&#8217;t stepped in the octagon in a year and a half. &#8220;He also leads a nonprofit called Project Savior Outdoors, which uses outdoor adventures to help veterans deal with post-traumatic stress disorder,&#8221; the report added.

Former MMA fighter, Green Beret, and founder of humanitarian rescue organization <a href="https://saveourallies.org/pages/our-story" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SaveOurAllies</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tim-kennedy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tim Kennedy</a>, detailed the reality of what&#8217;s going on in Israel and the Gaza Strip on the latest episode of the Ben Shapiro hosted “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/sunday-special" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Sunday Special</a>.”
Discussing the current conflict, Shapiro noted that Palestinian civilians were crossing the border on October 7 &#8220;and taking part in the massacre and taking part in the atrocities.&#8221;
&#8220;The attempt to create moral equivalence between what Hamas did and what Israel is doing in the Gaza Strip is astonishing. I can see that as a commentator,&#8221; Shapiro continued. &#8220;But you obviously have the military expertise and military experience. You&#8217;ve been in these situations. What exactly is it that Israel is facing in the Gaza Strip?&#8221;
Kennedy, who was on the ground in Israel in the days following the October 7 attack for rescue operations, explained to Shapiro that Israel&#8217;s task of taking out an insurgency, and the way they are doing it, is &#8220;historically nearly impossible&#8221; due to the nature of the terrorists&#8217; actions.
&#8220;What we see Israel trying to do right now is identify military targets that are in Gaza, that are the Hamas terrorist organization,&#8221; the decorated veteran said. &#8220;We don&#8217;t want to just leave October 7 as the standalone thing that has happened because that&#8217;s intellectually inaccurate and historically wrong. Hamas has a long history of attacking Israel on countless occasions &#8212; not just intifadas, not just big assaults and attacks and the things that we saw on October 7, and terrorist attacks. But it has been a constant execution of this long plan of trying to incite Israel so they&#8217;ll lose in a propaganda battle.&#8221;
&#8220;Israel is trying to do the right thing, they&#8217;re just doing it the wrong way, and this is just my opinion,&#8221; Kennedy explained. &#8220;They are trying to limit as many civilian casualties with a group that are intentionally hiding amongst civilians, and a populist that, frankly, is sympathetic to Hamas.&#8221;
&#8220;When Hamas was returning from the attacks to the Palestinians, into Gaza, what we saw was rejoicing in the streets,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;They were excited about the success of the attack. They were getting constant updates inside of Gaza. And you can find the videos, you don&#8217;t have to trust my word. You can go and look at the Palestinians rejoicing at the death of 1400 people, taking out 200 captives; the rape, torture, and murder of children and Holocaust survivors. It&#8217;s atrocious.&#8221;
&#8220;And Israel now has to go block by block, door by door, fighting an embedded insurgency,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;And they&#8217;re trying to do it in a way that is acceptable to the world. And that&#8217;s the problem right there, Ben.&#8221;
Kennedy went on to explain the difficulty of current battles between democratic nations like the U.S. and Israel and insurgencies, such as what we see in the Gaza Strip.
&#8220;We&#8217;re not going to be able to fight the state-on-state thing that we so desperately have been wanting to fight,&#8221; Kennedy said. &#8220;The last time America was truly a dominant aggressor in a war was in WWII. Since then, we have not really decidedly won any wars. And it&#8217;s because of what&#8217;s happening here in Gaza &#8212; it&#8217;s a perfect example of it. They&#8217;re not fighting by the rules that Israel is fighting by. They&#8217;re hiding in hospitals, they&#8217;re hiding behind women, they&#8217;re intentionally taking their military equipment and positioning it at schools. These are the things that terrorist organizations and insurgencies do. And these are not the things that a proper military would do.&#8221;
&#8220;So it&#8217;s a hard battle, and every time that you try to take a block, you&#8217;re of course going to incur civilian casualties, because the bad guys are hiding with the civilians intentionally and using them as human shields,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So any time an Israeli soldier tries to move to try and find insurgents, of course there&#8217;s going to be a civilian casualty because that&#8217;s what Hamas wants, and that then continues this revolving door of propaganda. So it&#8217;s a real tough situation that Israel&#8217;s in right now.&#8221;

Victoria Lee, a rising <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2023/01/09/victoria-lee-dead-mma-one-championship-fighter/">undefeated</a> star in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA), has died, according to her family. She was 18 years old.
The news was confirmed by Lee&#8217;s older sister and fellow MMA fighter Angela Lee, who wrote on Instagram that her sister died the day after Christmas.
&#8220;On December 26, 2022, our family experienced something no family should ever have to go through&#8230; It is incredibly difficult to say this&#8230; Our Victoria passed away,&#8221; Angela Lee said. &#8220;She has gone too soon and our family has been completely devastated since then. We miss her. More than anything in this world. Our family will never be the same. Life will never be the same.&#8221;
&#8220;Victoria was the most beautiful soul who ever lived. She was the best little sister in the world,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;The best daughter, the best granddaughter and the best godma / aunty to Ava and Alia. We miss you so much sis. More than you could ever realize. We&#8217;re all broken. Because a piece of you was in each of us, those pieces were ripped out of us when you left. We will never be the same. Each and every little thing makes me think of you. From the sun rays, to the sunset.&#8221;
Angela Lee concluded the statement by encouraging people to &#8220;check on your loved ones&#8221; and to do so repeatedly.
&#8220;Give them hugs and tell them how much they mean to you,&#8221; she added. &#8220;You just never know.&#8221;
No cause of death was given.
NBC News <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/victoria-lee-rising-mma-star-dies-18-rcna64853">noted</a> that ONE Championship, an international sports media platform, said in a statement that the company was &#8220;devastated over the tragic passing of Victoria Lee.&#8221;
“I am heartbroken by Victoria Lee’s passing. I first met Victoria when she was 11 years old,&#8221; ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong said in a separate statement, according to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/09/sport/victoria-lee-mma-star-death-spt-intl/index.html">CNN</a>. &#8220;I watched her blossom over the years as a martial artist and a human being. I always remember thinking how wise, thoughtful, and selfless she was beyond her years.&#8221;

Jason David Frank, best known for portraying Tommy Oliver, the original Green and White Ranger on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, died at 49 years old in Texas, a representative confirmed Sunday to media outlets.
&#8220;Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being. He loved his family, friends, and fans very much,&#8221; Justine Hunt, a representative for Frank, told <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/11/20/power-rangers-jason-david-frank-dead-dies-tommy-oliver-green-white/">TMZ</a>. &#8220;He will truly be missed.&#8221;
Although sources have not confirmed the cause of his death, TMZ reports that Frank&#8217;s death resulted from suicide.
Born in Covina, California, Frank began making waves in his career in the 1990s in both television and film adaptations of the popular franchise. During his time with the franchise, he started as the Green Ranger in Season 1. He later became the group leader as the White Ranger, and was a leading cast member for 123 episodes spread over 3 seasons.

He had a wild sense of humor. We had our shares of ups and downs, but I stayed consistent about being an ear if he needed one. My prayers go out to his family and all that will miss him.&#8221;
Amy Jo Johnson, who played the Pink Ranger, posted a tribute to her former co-star on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/ClMgFbQu4hY/?hl=en">Instagram</a>.
&#8220;Jase, you were beautiful and truly unique,&#8221; she wrote on Instagram. &#8220;My life just won&#8217;t be the same without your frenetic, hilarious, caring, driven, and creative ball of energy. I will always love you, dear friend. Please Rest now In Peace.&#8221;
The actor was also a professionally trained mixed martial artist. During his 34 years of experience, Frank <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/news/obituaries/2022/11/20/power-rangers-star-and-mma-fighter-jason-david-frank-49-dies-in-texas/">earned</a> an 8th degree black belt in American Karate, a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, won the gold medal at Mater Toddy&#8217;s Full Contact Muay Thai competition in Las Vegas, and created the martial art known as Toso Kune Do.
The World Karate Union Hall of Fame inducted Frank in 2003 as the American Karate Master of the Year.
Frank, who also trained taekwondo and judo, fought professionally from 2008 to 2010.
Frank owned and operated Rising Sun Karate and MMA,  founded Jesus Didn&#8217;t Tap, the first Christian line of MMA fighting apparel and gear.
Mike Bronzoulis, a closer friend and trainer of Frank, shared a picture of the two on Facebook after hearing the news of Frank&#8217;s death.
&#8216;RIP my brother from another mother Jason David Frank, Bronzoulis <a href="https://www.facebook.com/mike.bronzoulis/">wrote</a>. &#8220;I&#8217;m still in shock. I&#8217;m feeling terrible he called left me a message and I took too long.&#8221;
&#8216;Jason was a good friend to me and I will miss him&#8221; he added. &#8220;Love n prayers for his wife Tammy and their kids, I [pray] that God gets yall through this difficult time.&#8217;
Frank posted on Twitter last summer announcing he would make an appearance at the first edition of ComicCon Paraguay scheduled November 25th-27th.

A professional Russian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mma" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MMA</a> fighter with no history serious health problems reportedly was found dead in his apartment by a family member.
Alexander Pisarev, 33, was rushed to the hospital, according to some sources, along with his wife, who remains hospitalized, on October 30 after his father found him.
&#8220;Alexander Pisarev died in his sleep and did not have any chronic health problems,&#8221; a member of the featherweight&#8217;s Tomahawk team told Russian news agency TASS. &#8220;According to preliminary data, death was the result of food poisoning.&#8221;
The Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-11381559/Russian-MMA-star-Alexander-Pisarev-dies-aged-33-eating-poisoned-watermelon.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that some local news stations reported that Pisarev died from food poisoning after eating a watermelon, while others suggested that he died from an opioid overdose.
&#8220;I looked into the room — Alexander and his wife were sleeping,&#8221; Igor Vladimirovich, Pisarev&#8217;s father, told a Russian newspaper. &#8220;I came closer and then realized that my son was no longer breathing. There were fractures of the fingers after the last fights, but this is nothing. We all eat the same food, we live together.&#8221;
Russian officials have since launched an investigation into the cause of Pisarev&#8217;s death.
&#8220;In Balashikha, an investigation was organized into the death of an athlete as a result of poisoning,&#8221; the Moscow Region Investigative Committee said in a statement. &#8220;Investigators, with the participation of a forensic specialist, are conducting an additional inspection of the scene, confiscating items relevant to the investigation, and planning a forensic chemical examination.&#8221;
Pisarev&#8217;s Tomahawk team later confirmed the athlete&#8217;s death in a statement, but did not list a cause or give any further details.
“My brother, my friend, my student! Words cannot express the extent of the loss. Alexander Pisarev is the standard of friendship, decency and courage of a Russian person,” the statement, posted on VKontakte, <a href="https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2022/11/1/23435098/investigation-launched-mma-fighter-dies-of-poisoning-in-russia-news" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “I and we will miss you!!! Rest in peace our brother.”

Actress and former MMA fighter Gina Carano addressed the Left&#8217;s attempt to cancel her and responded to rumors of whether she will fight MMA star Ronda Rousey during a new interview.
Carano shared the remarks during an interview on Fox News&#8217; &#8220;Unfiltered&#8221; with Dan Bongino on Sunday.

&#8220;When you don&#8217;t have anything to apologize for, and you&#8217;re communicating in a very open and honest way, I just kept on thinking that there&#8217;s going to be other little girls like me, there&#8217;s going to be other people like me, that aren&#8217;t going to be able to handle what I went through as well,&#8221; Carano said. &#8220;So I figured if I can&#8217;t go through this, how am I supposed to expect anyone else to?&#8221;
Bongino also addressed growing rumors that Carano could appear in an upcoming MMA fight with Rousey.
&#8220;Ronda Rousey respects you so much. She says you&#8217;re the only person she would return to MMA to fight. Are we going to see Gina Carano lacing up the gloves again?&#8221; he asked.
&#8220;I just never put it past me. It could happen,&#8221; Carano said. &#8220;But it would have to be like six months from now, because I have a lot of stuff I need to do, but my fight is that I really want to create, I want to direct, I want to produce, I want to give artists — I want to give Ronda a job in one of my movies. So maybe there&#8217;s something we can do there.&#8221;
The speculation regarding a bout between Carano and Rousey began earlier this month when Rousy mentioned she would potentially return to fight, but for only one person.
&#8220;There&#8217;s only one person I would come back for,&#8221; Rousey said on an episode of &#8220;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAuNbbAwL1U" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Kurt Angle Show</a>.&#8221;
&#8220;I mean, I&#8217;ve said it a million times. It&#8217;s not like it&#8217;s something new. [I&#8217;d come back] for Gina, man—Gina Carano,&#8221; she added.
Carano finished with a 7-1 record between 2006 to 2009. Rousey holds a 12-2 record, being the first woman inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.
Rousey acknowledged Carano as a person who influenced her career during the interview.
&#8220;She&#8217;s the reason why I got into fighting. She&#8217;s the reason why I knew it was a possibility. British commentator Piers Morgan weighed in on an MMA match from the weekend which saw an openly male-to-female transgender athlete handily beat a female opponent, calling the match &#8220;sickening&#8221; and warning that the trend of allowing biological male athletes to compete in women&#8217;s sports could prove &#8220;deadly.&#8221;
As <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/openly-transgender-mma-fighter-beats-female-opponent-in-debut">The Daily Wire reported earlier Monday</a>, &#8220;Alana McLaughlin — a biological male and former member of the U.S. Army Special Forces — beat Celine Provost with a rear-naked choke in the second round.&#8221;
&#8220;In order for McLaughlin to compete, the fighter had to pass a hormone panel, which McLaughlin did. McLaughlin said that it was difficult to find a female opponent willing to get into the ring for the fight, regardless,&#8221; The Daily Wire noted.
Morgan, though, pointed out that it wasn&#8217;t necessarily the outcome of the match that was concerning &#8212; that McLaughlin defeated Provost &#8212; but that McLaughlin was allowed to compete against biological females, adding that the match was &#8220;sickening to watch,&#8221; since it appeared to Morgan as though officials were simply allowing a man to beat up a woman.
&#8220;Regardless of her military record or personal struggles growing up, none of this justifies what happened on Friday night. I found the bout sickening to watch,&#8221; Morgan said. &#8220;It was obvious very quickly that McLaughlin was too strong, and equally obvious that this strength came from the 33 years she spent as a biological man.&#8221;
Morgan then noted that testosterone level is not the only advantage that biological males may have over biological females. Testing testosterone gives an incomplete picture of how McLaughlin compared physically to Provost, and the mere fact that McLaughlin was born male has its own advantages.
&#8220;As I’ve said before, the restrictive hormone treatment that sports authorities make transgender women do before they can compete in women’s sport does not reduce muscle density or power,&#8221; Morgan said.
He then suggested that the trend of allowing male-to-female transgender individuals to compete in women&#8217;s sports could have deadly consequences. Allowing male-to-female transgender individuals to compete in non-contact sports like track and weightlifting is one thing, Morgan said, allowing them to fight women is another.
&#8220;This creates a bad enough unfairness in non-contact sports like sprinting or weightlifting, but when it comes to combat sport like MMA it creates a potentially deadly disparity,&#8221; he said.
McLaughlin fired back at critics of the fight in an Instagram post following the match. The post shows McLaughlin with visible facial injuries and the message below the photo suggests that McLaughlin does not believe there was any physical disparity between the two athletes.
&#8220;Y’all need to show @cylinelagrande some respect and take your concern trolling elsewhere,&#8221; McLaughlin wrote. &#8220;She almost finished me more than once, and on scorecards she definitely won that first round.&#8221;
&#8220;Transphobes are just making my block hand stronger,&#8221; McLaughlin said.
McLaughlin is the second male-to-female transgender athlete to compete in an MMA fight. It does not appear that there are further plans for McLaughlin to fight other athletes, though the athlete admitted that it was difficult to find an opponent for the weekend&#8217;s bout.

Fallon Fox, the first transgender individual to fight in mixed martial arts (MMA), will be getting the Hollywood treatment in an upcoming biopic.
&#8220;The writing team of T Cooper and Allison Glock-Cooper are giving Fox&#8217;s life story the big screen treatment,&#8221; reported <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/biopic-of-trans-mma-fighter-fallon-fox-in-the-works">The Hollywood Reporter</a> (THR). &#8220;Fox will serve as a consultant on the film, while Mark Gordon and Bonnie-Chance Roberts will produce for Mark Gordon Pictures, alongside John Papsidera.&#8221;
Bonnie-Chance Roberts referred to Fox as a &#8220;remarkable woman&#8221; whose story needs to be told.
&#8220;Fallon Fox is a remarkable woman and athlete who has withstood and achieved so much in her life and whose story is far too little known,&#8221; Roberts said. &#8220;She is a universal, living icon of strength and persistence. It is a true honor to work with her, and the indomitable writing team of T and Allison Cooper, to bring her experiences more to light and to share her with the world.&#8221;
&#8220;I’ve had a great time so far working with the producers and writers bringing this story to life, and I hope this film sheds some light on the topic of trans athletes in sports. This story needs to be told now more than ever,&#8221; Fox said of the film.

In a statement last week, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its unequivocal support for the transgender community and expressed no misgivings about the prospect of biological men outcompeting women in their given sport.
“The NCAA Board of Governors firmly and unequivocally supports the opportunity for transgender student-athletes to compete in college sports. This commitment is grounded in our values of inclusion and fair competition,” the NCAA said.
The NCAA then touted the (<a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/trans-women-retain-athletic-edge-after-year-hormone-therapy-study-n1252764">highly questionable</a>) concept of testosterone suppression as a valid equalizer for men competing in women’s sports.
“The NCAA has a <a href="https://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/Transgender_Handbook_2011_Final.pdf">long-standing policy</a> that provides a more inclusive path for transgender participation in college sports,” the NCAA said. “Our approach — which requires testosterone suppression treatment for transgender women to compete in women’s sports — embraces the evolving science on this issue and is anchored in participation policies of both the International Olympic Committee and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Inclusion and fairness can coexist for all student-athletes, including transgender athletes, at all levels of sport. Our clear expectation as the Association’s top governing body is that all student-athletes will be treated with dignity and respect. We are committed to ensuring that NCAA championships are open for all who earn the right to compete in them.”

When Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in 1947, he was subjected to racist jeers from fans, discrimination from some of his teammates, death threats, and sometimes physical abuse. During his first year on the Brooklyn Dodgers, a player from an opposing team intentionally slid into him cleats-first, leaving a gash in his leg. This treatment was all due to the simple fact that he was a black man playing baseball. His willingness to endure heckles, taunts, and worse, while blazing a trail for other black athletes to follow, has led many people to label him the bravest athlete in sports history.
But now, according to the gay sports outlet Outsports, Robinson&#8217;s reign has come to an end. Cyd Zeigler, writing for the publication, has <a href="https://www.outsports.com/2020/1/14/21062012/fallon-fox-trans-athlete-mma-courage-brave">declared</a> that the bravest athlete of all time, the sports figure who best embodies the virtues of courage and heroism, is a biological male who beat the hell out of a bunch of women in MMA. Zeigler gave the &#8220;trans&#8221; athlete Fallon Fox that moniker in a recent article, explaining that the professional woman-beater &#8220;is an indelible part of LGBTQ sports history&#8221; and has &#8220;opened possibilities for trans athletes in women’s sports that will be felt for generations.&#8221; Why any of this requires courage — much less the most courage of any athlete ever — is never explained.
It also isn&#8217;t explained how courage is involved when a biological male, with his testosterone and greater muscle mass and denser bone structure, <a href="https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/transgender-female-boxer-gives-female-opponent-concussion-breaks-her-eye-so">fractures the skull of a female opponent</a> and leaves her lying on the mat, concussed, and bleeding. One would think that the female opponent at least has more courage than the man who is beating her half to death.

We&#8217;re assured that it&#8217;s okay for a male to physically brutalize a female because females sometimes brutalize each other. This is how Fox himself justified it. &#8220;I’m not the first female MMA fighter who’s broken another fighter’s bones,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And people will of course, because I’m trans, hold it up as this devastating thing that couldn’t possibly happen if I weren’t trans. But there are many different examples of similar things happening.&#8221;
He&#8217;s right, of course. He&#8217;s not the first female fighter to break another fighter&#8217;s bones. Mostly because he&#8217;s not a female fighter at all. Notice here how the arbitrary sex versus gender distinction has been collapsed and disregarded. The large, muscular man with a penis and XY chromosomal structure isn&#8217;t just a woman by gender. He is, in fact, a female.
Don&#8217;t count on Zeigler to grapple with that difficulty. We are just supposed to dutifully applaud, accepting at face value whatever lame excuses and justifications are put forward. Zeigler doesn&#8217;t present actual arguments in favor of allowing men like Fox to fight women because there are no arguments available to him. It is objectively wrong on every conceivable level — morally, ethically, scientifically. A coherent defense of the practice cannot be offered, and never has been offered. The most the other side of this debate can do is make vague emotional appeals, hoping we&#8217;ll forget that the women being abused and cheated have emotions, too. But their emotions are irrelevant, we&#8217;re told. Just as science is irrelevant. Just as fairness is irrelevant. All that matters, for some reason, is how this one guy feels. And his insistence on doing what makes him feel good, at any cost, is admirable. Not just admirable, but also heroic. Not just heroic but the most heroic thing anyone has ever done or could ever do.
Heroic. Courageous. Beautiful. Keep repeating it until you believe it.
