For those who don&#8217;t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week&#8217;s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
With less than two weeks to go before Christmas — and just over a month before President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated to serve a second term in the White House — the news cycle is as jumbled as ever. Some of the focus remains overseas, as unrest continues to to rule the day in Syria after the fall of Bashar al-Assad — but things at home are also quite literally &#8220;up in the air&#8221; as rumors swirl about mysterious drone sightings over states along the east coast.
After multiple reports of the strange aerial phenomena — many of which seem to be concentrated in northern New Jersey — local officials have admitted to being completely baffled and federal authorities have done little to dispel fears that all is not exactly what it seems.
During the week, the FBI <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dhs-fbi-release-statement-about-drone-sightings-in-new-jersey" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released a statement</a> alongside the Department of Homeland Security, claiming that the majority of the sightings had likely been manned aircraft operating in a lawful manner — and while they could not give a definitive answer on what the people were seeing, they were certain that the public was not at any risk.
On ABC&#8217;s &#8220;This Week,&#8221; Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted that some of the sightings were, in fact, drones — but again said that he did not believe anyone was in danger.
&#8220;There’s no question that drones are being sighted…There are thousands of drones flown every day in the United States — recreational drones, commercial drones,&#8221; Mayorkas said, apparently suggesting that the things people were seeing were not really anything out of the ordinary.

Mayorkas also responded to claims that the drones were potentially being sent or operated by foreign adversaries, saying that he did not have any information leading him to believe that. Mayorkas told ABC host George Stephanopoulos that he had heard of &#8220;no foreign involvement with respect to the sightings in the Northeast.&#8221;

But former Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) also weighed in on the issue, and he pointed out the fact that the longer the American people went without any definitive answers, the more likely it was that conspiracy theories would run wild about what they could be seeing.

Klobuchar also took some time to discuss a slew of pardons and commutations issued by President Joe Biden as his presidency nears its end.
While Biden&#8217;s Thanksgiving weekend pardon for his embattled son Hunter Biden certainly raised the most eyebrows — on both sides of the political aisle — Klobuchar noted that just by sheer volume, Biden was testing the limits of what she found to be acceptable.
Klobuchar first said that she was among those who did not like the fact that Biden had pardoned his son — but then said she also worried about the some 1500 sentence commutations he issued in the past week.
She proposed an &#8220;outside board&#8221; to aid the president in selecting cases for pardons or sentence commutations &#8220;instead of people just doing it in the middle of the night, and people in the White House — this makes no sense to me.&#8221;
&#8220;This whole process cries out for reform, because otherwise you undermine the justice system,&#8221; she added.

But on CNN&#8217;s &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; retiring Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) said that despite having often been at odds with Trump himself, he was not overly concerned that the president-elect might use the Justice Department to attack those who had opposed him.

Romney made the remarks during a Sunday CNN interview with Jake Tapper on &#8220;State of the Union&#8221; while reflecting the outcome of last month&#8217;s elections.
&#8220;Donald Trump won,&#8221; he said. &#8220;He won overwhelmingly. He said what he was going to do, and that&#8217;s what he&#8217;s doing.&#8221;
&#8220;I mean, people are saying, &#8216;oh, I don&#8217;t like this appointment or this policy that he&#8217;s talking about,'&#8221; he continued. &#8220;But those are the things he said he was going to do when he ran. So you can&#8217;t complain about someone who does what he said he was going to do.&#8221;

Romney also dispelled fears that Trump could weaponize the justice system to go after his political opponents.
&#8220;I don&#8217;t know how much of what the president says is hyperbole, because there was a lot of &#8216;this person ought to be jailed and that person ought to be jailed&#8217; that was said during the last two campaigns,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;But I think President Trump is likely to try and focus on the future,&#8221; he added. &#8220;People who committed crimes, I&#8217;m sure, will be prosecuted. But I think that&#8217;s few and far between.&#8221;

Romney To Trump Critics: ‘Give Him A Chance’

Since 2020, every candidate the Democratic Party has nominated for president since 2000 has actively backed restrictions on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/free-speech" target="_blank" rel="noopener">free speech</a> online, according to a new analysis from the Media Research Center shared with The Daily Wire. 
“Since the 2020 election cycle, no less than seven of the most recent 10 presidential nominees have called for censorship and/or government regulation of political speech,” MRC researcher Luis Cornelio found wrote in his analysis.
MRC Free Speech For America analyzed the comments and positions of every presidential candidate since 2000. The group found that every Democrat — and just one Republican — who ran for office in that time frame has backed some kind of restriction on speech since 2020, whether banning &#8220;misinformation&#8221; or pushing for the government to crack down on free expression.
That includes former President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris, the last of whom has advocated censorship for years. Harris has <a href="https://x.com/EndWokeness/status/1829651058269806658" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushed</a> for social media companies to remove posts from former President Donald Trump and demanded more government oversight and regulation for social media companies. 
“They are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation, and that has to stop,” Harris told CNN in 2019. 
The report found that former President Donald Trump had taken steps to promote free speech, citing his efforts in 2020 to define Section 230 — a provision that largely gives tech companies immunity for what third parties allow on their platforms — in a way that protected the First Amendment.
Mitt Romney, who ran for president in 2012, is the only Republican the MRC found to have “voiced support for censorship and against the American principles of free speech online.” 
The Biden-Harris administration <a href="https://mrcfreespeechamerica.org/blogs/free-speech/gabriela-pariseau-christian-baldwin/2024/06/25/mrc-free-speech-america-exposes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">used</a> several federal agencies to censor speech related to the COVID-19 vaccine, MRC previously documented. This came as Biden claimed that Facebook was “killing people” by allowing posts critical of the COVID vaccine.
“They’re killing people — I mean they’re really, look, the only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated,” Biden <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/tim-graham/2021/07/17/networks-promote-biden-claiming-facebook-killing-people-covid">said</a> on July 16, 2021. “And they’re killing people.”
Hillary Clinton, who has long blamed her 2016 loss to Trump on so-called Russian disinformation, has proposed arresting Americans for spreading “propaganda.” 
“I think there are Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda, and whether they should be civilly or even in some cases, criminally charged is something that would be a better deterrence,” Clinton <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxrngjBER3E">said</a> on MSNBC last month.
Earlier this month, Clinton urged for social media companies to “moderate” posts, <a href="https://mrcfreespeechamerica.org/blogs/free-speech/donald-perkins/2024/10/07/hillary-clinton-pushes-censorship-expresses-fear-losing">saying</a> on CNN that if “they don’t moderate and monitor content, we lose total control.”
“We should be, in my view, appealing something called Section 230, which gave platforms on the internet immunity because they were thought to be pass-throughs that they shouldn’t be judged for the content that is posted—but we now know that was an overly simple view,” she said.
Obama <a href="https://archive.is/k29vX">said</a> back on April 21, 2022 that protecting “democracy” meant more government regulations for online speech.
“Each of us, whether we work at a tech company or consume social media, whether we are a parent, a legislator, an advertiser on one of these platforms, now’s the time to pick a side,” Obama said at Stanford&#8217;s Cyber Policy Center. “We have a choice right now. Do we allow our democracy to wither or do we make it better?”

Last month, John Kerry, who lost the White House to George W. Bush in 2004, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/john-kerry-if-democrats-win-we-can-change-first-amendment-to-fight-disinformation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asserted</a> that the First Amendment was a major impediment to fighting alleged online misinformation.
“But look, if people only go to one source, and the source they go to is sick, and, you know, has an agenda, and they’re putting out disinformation, our First Amendment stands as a major block to be able to just, you know, hammer it out of existence,” he said during a World Economic Forum meeting.
Vice President Al Gore, who has made a fortune pushing fear about climate change, compared social media algorithms to AR-15 rifles in December 2023 and called for them to be banned if they lead people in a certain direction.
“If you have social media that is dominated by algorithms that pull people down these rabbit holes that are a bit like pitcher plants, these algorithms, they are the digital equivalent of AR-15s,” Gore said. “They ought to be banned, they really ought to be banned. It’s an abuse of the public forum.”
Romney, the only Republican on the list, was included because of comments he made during a congressional hearing in July 2023 where he seemed to endorse federal government employees pressuring tech companies to restrict certain posts.
“Employees of the federal government have First Amendment rights, too,” Romney said. “Censorship is when the government shuts something off. This is arguing to try to convince somebody else to shut it off and that’s the right people have whether they’re in government or outside of government.”

Romney made the remarks during an interview with Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC as the subject of border security and illegal immigration has routinely been one of the top issues for voters for the duration of Biden&#8217;s presidency.
&#8220;People have been screaming about the border for all three and a half years Joe Biden has been president,&#8221; Romney said. &#8220;He’s not done anything to solve the problem of the border. That’s a huge issue for President Trump, I can’t understand why President Biden didn’t tackle this from the beginning.&#8221;
Romney said that Trump was strong on the issue, that it was a major reason that he won in 2016, and that Trump believes it will propel him to victory again this fall.
&#8220;If I were President Biden, I’d be all over that, and instead he served it to President Trump on a silver platter,&#8221; Romney said.
Romney noted that the issue of border security and illegal immigration &#8220;was not a problem when President Trump was president.&#8221;

Romney Defends Trump, Blasts Biden Over Border: ‘Was Not A Problem’ With Trump

Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney is warning that President Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign focus on the January 6 riot is beating a “dead political horse.”
Biden delivered the first speech of his re-election campaign on Friday, taking direct aim at former President Donald Trump. Trump is the favorite to win the GOP nomination for president in 2024, though the first primary contest in Iowa has yet to take place.
During his speech, Biden continually hit on Trump’s alleged role in the January 6 riot and compared Trump’s rhetoric since to that of the Nazis. Romney, a moderate Republican and vocal Trump critic, said that Biden’s focus on the January 6 riot of three years ago is a political loser.
“As a Biden campaign theme, I think the threat to democracy pitch is a bust,” Romney told <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/05/us/politics/biden-speech-trump-jan-6.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Times</a> in a text. “Jan. 6 will be four years old by the election. People have processed it, one way or another. Biden needs fresh material, a new attack, rather than kicking a dead political horse.”
Biden characterized Trump as an authoritarian and a threat to the United States.
“Three years ago tomorrow, we saw with our own eyes the violent mob stormed the United States Capitol. It was almost in disbelief as you first turned on the television,” Biden <a href="https://apnews.com/article/biden-speech-valley-forge-trump-campaign-bda2293cac2b30e49157c2e6fb256d64" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on Friday. “For the first time in our history, insurrectionists had come to stop the peaceful transfer, transfer of power in America. First time.”
“It was among the worst derelictions of duty by a president in American history. An attempt to overturn a free and fair election by force and violence. A record 81 million people voted for my candidacy and to end his presidency,” Biden said of Trump’s handling of the riot. The president said Trump orchestrated the riot in a last-ditch effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election after exhausting “every legal avenue.”

Despite Biden’s amped-up rhetoric surrounding the riot, politicos and lawmakers are skeptical whether hammering Trump on January 6 will be a political winner. Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mitt-romney" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mitt Romney</a> (R-UT) slammed President Joe Biden&#8217;s son, Hunter Biden, during an interview over the weekend while talking about how he has benefitted from his father&#8217;s last name.
Romney made the remarks during a Sunday appearance on NBC News&#8217; &#8220;Meet The Press&#8221; with host Kristen Welker while discussing the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/feds-file-new-criminal-case-against-hunter-biden-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nine new tax charges</a> facing the president&#8217;s son.
&#8220;His lawyer said that if his name was anything other than Biden, the charges would not have been brought,&#8221; Welker said. &#8220;What&#8217;s your reaction to that?&#8221;
Romney responded, &#8220;Well, if his name were anything other than Biden, he wouldn&#8217;t have been able to bilk millions of dollars from foreign entities, so let&#8217;s start there.&#8221;
&#8220;And not only did he take all this money from foreign entities, trading on his father&#8217;s name, which is ugly and unsavory, he then didn&#8217;t pay taxes on it, according to the prosecutors,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;We&#8217;ll see if they can prove that case. But if they can, he violated U.S. law and should be severely punished for having done so.&#8221;
Romney later said that he has not seen any evidence that President Biden has committed high crimes and misdemeanors.

The 69-year-old talk show host said through a spokesperson that she &#8220;never considered running&#8221; for the top office after Romney told the author of the bio that he got a call from the actress (who&#8217;s a Democrat) suggesting that they should run together &#8220;to save the country,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politics-news/oprah-winfrey-disputes-mitt-romney-claim-2020-election-ticket-1235620134/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hollywood Reporter</a> reported.
&#8220;In November 2019, Ms. Winfrey called Senator Romney to encourage him to run on an Independent ticket,&#8221; the spokesperson told the outlet. &#8220;She was not calling to be part of the ticket and was never considering running herself.&#8221;

The comments came after <a href="https://www.axios.com/2023/10/16/oprah-mitt-romney-trump-2020" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios</a> reported that the author of the book, veteran political journalist McKay Coppins, said Romney told her that he got a call from Winfrey that the two should form a unity ticket to stop former President Donald Trump&#8217;s reelection.
Romney told Coppins that he dismissed the idea, believing that their joining forces would ultimately help Trump, the outlet noted.
Despite Winfrey&#8217;s recent claims, she has never shied away from politics, even publicly endorsing former President Barack Obama in 2008, the outlet noted.
In October 2019, Winfrey made it clear she wanted to see Disney CEO Bob Iger run for president and said she would go door-to-door to make it happen, following then-former Vice President Joe Biden&#8217;s <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/25/us/politics/joe-biden-2020-announcement.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcement</a> in April 2019 that he would run, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/oprah-winfrey-jennifer-garner-push-disney-ceo-bob-iger-2020" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Speaking at the Save the Children Centennial Celebration: Once in a Lifetime gala in Los Angeles, the former TV host presented Iger with the Centennial Award.
While presenting the honor, Winfrey told Iger that she &#8220;was hoping that by this time in early fall, I would be knocking on doors in Des Moines, wearing an &#8216;Iger 2020&#8217; t-shirt. Because I really do believe that Bob Iger&#8217;s guidance and decency is exactly what the country needs right now.&#8221;

Sen. Mitt Romney, 76, the GOP presidential nominee who lost the 2012 election to Barack Obama and later became a United States senator from Utah in 2018, said he will not seek a second term in the Senate in 2024.
Interviewed by <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/09/13/mitt-romney-senate-reelection/">The Washington Post</a>, Romney cited his disappointment in the GOP-controlled House and the prospect that either President Biden or former President Trump would be elected in 2024.
“It’s very difficult for the House to operate, from what I can tell,” he declared, “and two, and perhaps more importantly, we’re probably going to have either Trump or Biden as our next president. And Biden is unable to lead on important matters and Trump is unwilling to lead on important matters.”
Romney asserted that neither Biden nor Trump was serious about reducing the deficit, saying, “You’ve got both Biden and Trump saying we won’t touch entitlements. How irresponsible is that!”
Romney said he would not publicly support any of the GOP presidential candidates challenging Trump, opining, “I doubt my support will mean anything positive to any of the candidates at the finish line. I’m not looking to get involved in that.”
“It’s pretty clear that the party is inclined to a populist demagogue message,” he said, adding, “If it can change in the direction of a populist it can change back in the direction of my wing of the Republican Party.”
Romney, who served as governor of Massachusetts, was not the first member of his family to run for president; his father George, who served as governor of Michigan, was a prime candidate in 1968, losing the nomination to Richard Nixon. As a senator, Romney voted to impeach Trump twice, incurring the enmity of Trump loyalists. In January 2019, he <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/mitt-romney-the-president-shapes-the-public-character-of-the-nation-trumps-character-falls-short/2019/01/01/37a3c8c2-0d1a-11e9-8938-5898adc28fa2_story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> of Trump:

Commenting on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy telling House committees to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/09/12/mccarthy-biden-impeachment/?itid=lk_inline_manual_33" target="_blank" rel="noopener">begin an impeachment inquiry</a> into President Biden, he stated, “This is not an impeachment. This is an inquiry, and I have heard no allegations that rise to the high-crimes-and-misdemeanors standard of the Constitution.”
“I think it’s of paramount importance to maintain our commitment to the Constitution and the liberal constitutional order,” he stated. “And I know that there are some in MAGA world who would like Republican rule, or authoritarian rule by Donald Trump. But I think they may be forgetting that the majority of people in America would not be voting for Donald J. Trump. The majority would probably be voting for the Democrats.”
He concluded, “I do believe that our institutions, while under constant barrage, are strong, that our court system is strong and that, fundamentally, the American people stand by the Constitution and the constitutional norms.”

Republicans hold governorships and legislative majorities in 22 states, compared to 17 for Democrats and 11 states in which government is divided. Yet GOP-run states often do not implement policies aligned with their party. The following is the third in a four-part series on Republican-dominated state legislatures and how they lead.
Even as Democrats push far-Left policies whenever they have a bare majority, some of the most Republican-dominated states govern in a moderate way — with a Daily Wire analysis of voting records finding that the larger the Republican majority in a state legislature, the more moderate those Republicans behave on average.
Deep-red Utah and Wyoming, which sent Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney to Congress, also send moderate Republicans to their own statehouses. They&#8217;re not the only states in which Republicans, despite holding a near-monopoly on state policy making, often reject such basic conservative initiatives as school choice and restrictions on abortion. Critics wonder why states with GOP legislative supermajorities don&#8217;t wield their power the way their deep-blue counterparts like California do.
It&#8217;s not that people necessarily want red states to go to extremes, which can backfire. Rather, they object to examples that are far from that: Louisiana&#8217;s Republican House speaker was elected with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/19-statehouses-have-bigger-republican-majorities-than-florida-this-group-is-making-sure-they-act-like-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more Democrat votes</a> than Republican ones; the South Carolina legislature kicked its most conservative members out of the Republican caucus; and Wyoming’s speaker killed a school-choice proposal that is standard conservative fare, The Daily Wire reported earlier in this series exploring the importance of state-level policy.

Why Republicans in deep-red states would be less Republican than their counterparts elsewhere is one of the most baffling mysteries in politics. How can it be that residents of deep-red states elect moderate members time and again? And what can they do to ensure that their state lawmakers accurately reflect their views?
“We&#8217;ve never been outvoted by Democrats, but we lose all the time,&#8221; Alan Seabaugh, a Louisiana state legislator, told The Daily Wire. &#8220;And it&#8217;s because we&#8217;re outvoted by RINOs. It&#8217;s because of people who want their constituents to think of them as conservative, they run as conservatives, and then they get to Baton Rouge and they hope no one notices how they vote.&#8221;

In that red state, one problem is so-called “jungle primaries.” Back when Louisiana was controlled overwhelmingly by Democrats, Democrats implemented the system so that instead of having to face a Republican in the general election, the top two in the primary would advance, giving general election voters a choice between two Democrats. Now, the state is overwhelmingly conservative, but the same system remains in place. The state is so Republican that the top two vote-getters in the primary will often be a conservative Republican and a moderate one. In the general election, Democrats will vote for the more moderate candidate, alongside some Republicans, pushing him or her to victory.
“The people of Louisiana are very red. Donald Trump carried Louisiana by a bigger margin than Texas. But the jungle primary pushes everything to the middle,” Seabaugh said.
Other Republican states have a problem with open primaries. Whereas Democrat strongholds like the District of Columbia exclude Republicans from any meaningful impact in their elections, allowing only registered Democrats to vote in the party primary that essentially decides the race, Republican states have not done the same. Wyoming law makes it relatively easy for Democrats to vote in Republican primaries, and they do — with Democrat officials sometimes explicitly <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/democratic-lawmakers-encourage-wyoming-voters-change-parties-back/story?id=88109078">urging it</a>.

Ten Republican states have fully-open primaries, while only four Democrat ones do. Six Democrat states have fully-closed primaries, while only three Republican ones do. The rest have more complicated rules falling somewhere in between, according to a Daily Wire analysis of <a href="https://www.ncsl.org/elections-and-campaigns/state-primary-election-types" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Council of State Legislatures</a> 2021 data.
Georgia has fully open primaries, as well as a runoff system that in multiple recent election cycles allowed a Democrat to head to the U.S. Senate even though a Republican got more votes in the general election.
Another factor is that in places where almost everyone identifies as Republican, people seeking power know that whatever their actual beliefs, they must put an R behind their name if they want to win. Given that few people pay attention to state races, many voters don’t notice the deception.
“The red states are actually the worst” when it comes to moderate Republicans, Andrew Roth, president of the State Freedom Caucus Network, told The Daily Wire. “A lot of Dems know they can’t get elected with a D next to their name, so they put an R next to their name and then vote like liberals.”
A less nefarious version of that is the fact that where being Republican is simply the default, people who are essentially apolitical identify as it because it’s just how they were brought up. Some candidates are community leaders like Boy Scout leaders and football coaches who know a lot of people in town, and want to take their involvement to the next level.
“The closer you get to the local level, the less party matters. Louisiana has been voting for Republicans in federal elections for decades, we just don’t necessarily elect conservatives at the state level,” Seabaugh said.
Then there’s the fact that many elected Republicans are remnants of the era when conservatives promoted business interests–even though corporations often now function as arms of the Left. When Georgia enacted voting reforms, driving the pressure against it were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/5-woke-corporations-who-condemned-georgia-while-still-doing-business-with-china" target="_blank" rel="noopener">corporations</a> like Coca-Cola.
“When the stakeholders are small and there’s a limited media following it, the special interest groups are able to overpower it,” Thomas Bradbury, director of advocacy and policy at the American Conservative Union, told The Daily Wire. “Especially on some of the cultural issues, the Chamber of Commerce just has way too much power over some of these Republicans. That’s why you see people like [South Dakota Gov.] Kristi Noem <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/conservatives-blast-gop-gov-noem-for-refusing-to-sign-bill-protecting-girls-sports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">veto</a> the women’s sports bill.”
When Democrats wanted South Carolina to adopt a <a href="https://www.wbtw.com/news/state-regional-news/push-returns-for-south-carolina-to-add-hate-crime-law/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hate-crimes law</a> in February, it was corporations like Duke Energy who put the pressure on Republicans to acquiesce, arguing that &#8220;the lack of a hate crime law could hurt South Carolina’s recruitment and retention of businesses.&#8221; The debate came as state Republicans were courting an electric vehicle plant for which they earmarked $1.3 billion in government support last month.
Bradbury once served as an aide in the Missouri legislature. “We tried to take on special taxing districts where certain corporations would get full-on tax exemptions, which is very against free market principles and unfair,” he said. Republicans held a hearing where there were a few citizens and policy wonks speaking against the special treatment for corporations, “and then probably 55 paid lobbyists in the room opposing us. It’s amazing how much influence special interests have because these are part-time legislatures so the experts actually are the lobbyists.” 
Then there are those who go into the legislature as bona fide conservatives, but quickly give in to existing power structures, believing it’s just what they’re supposed to do, Louisiana lawmaker Danny McCormick told The Daily Wire.
“There’s a tremendous amount of pressure to give in to the establishment once you get down there. There’s a tremendous pressure to go along and get along, and they threaten you that you won’t get any bridges or money for roads if you don’t,” he said.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) faced a number of questions after someone claimed to have found a &#8220;burner&#8221; Twitter account connected to her.
Niko House (@realnikohouse) replied to a few tweets posted by Ocasio-Cortez and got responses from a seemingly random account (@zazasmoka). He quickly noticed that when that account replied back, the responses were framed in first-person perspective — as if the person responding was the congresswoman herself.

Closer scrutiny of the alleged &#8220;burner account&#8221; revealed that whoever was controlling the account was not just tweeting in defense of AOC — they were also tweeting death threats at The Daily Wire podcast host and &#8220;What Is a Woman?&#8221; creator Matt Walsh.

Responding to a tweet from Walsh about the danger posed by the trans movement, @zazasmoka replied, &#8220;You are a hateful little freak and I can&#8217;t wait until you piss off a trans person that actually is as unhinged as you say they all are &#8230; can&#8217;t be a bigot if you&#8217;re no longer breathing.&#8221;
Walsh spoke up as well, asking Ocasio-Cortez to address the issue and condemn the rhetoric if the account was not, in fact, hers. &#8220;Hi @AOC, this isn&#8217;t you wishing death on me is it? Many are speculating that this is your burner account. You need to come out and denounce this kind of rhetoric or we can only assume that you support it.&#8221;

Ocasio-Cortez did not respond to the tweets suggesting the account was hers — but if it was, she would certainly not be the first elected official to use an anonymous &#8220;burner account.&#8221; Senator <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/a-total-loser-romney-mocked-after-using-secret-twitter-account-to-defend-himself-report-suggests/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mitt Romney</a> admitted to using a secret account — which Slate later reported was under the name Pierre Delecto — to &#8220;keep tabs on the political conversation.&#8221;

Did you watch the State of the Union Tuesday night?
Now, there’s a lot we could chat about it — but to me the most interesting part of the night was the exchange between Representative George Santos (R-NY) and Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT).
There&#8217;s a lot I could say about president Biden’s SOTU address. It made me angry, for one — it was full of lies. Biden appears to be suffering from some early-stage dementia — that was apparent right out of the gate. We could discuss how he pretended that he wants to fight the fentanyl crisis even as he allowed the deadly drug to pour over our open borders.
We could talk about perhaps his most bizarre claim of all — that he’s some sort of anti-Big Pharma hero. Is this not the exact same guy that The Daily Wire had to fight because he tried to authorize the Labor Department to effectively mandate the vaccine into every single working individual’s arms in America?
Do you remember that? Don’t worry if you don’t, he probably doesn&#8217;t remember either.
Or we could touch upon him pretending that he&#8217;s sticking it to China.
Yeah, we sure showed them by allowing them to float a balloon, a spy balloon, for eight days across the entire contiguous United States!
Nope, sorry. I didn’t want to discuss any of that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-90-toxic-mom-culture-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">on my show today</a>.
The best moment from the State of the Union was actually a little riff-raff that went on between Romney and Santos. Right at the beginning, the New York congressman and Utah senator exchanged some sharp words. The camera footage of the exchange was intense. 
Lip readers speculated that Romney told Santos he shouldn’t be at the address. Romney confirmed he did, in fact, dress down Santos — who has admitted to “embellishing” practically every aspect of his resume. 
“I didn&#8217;t expect that he&#8217;d be standing there trying to shake hands with every senator in the United States,” Romney told reporters while leaving the building. “That&#8217;s a given. And given the fact that he&#8217;s under ethics investigation, he should be sitting in the back row and staying quiet instead of parading in front of the president and the people coming into the room.” 
“If you look at like he said, he says he knows that he embellished his record. Look, embellishing is saying you got an A when he had an A-minus. Lying is saying you graduated from a college you didn&#8217;t even attend. He shouldn&#8217;t be in Congress,” he continued. “And they&#8217;re going to go through the process and hopefully get him out but he shouldn&#8217;t be there.”

So, is Romney wrong here? 
It certainly seems as if Santos has been caught lying about virtually everything — from the schools he attended to his employment history, and his family background, and even whether or not he was a drag queen in Brazil. 
This guy is definitely shady. And it is right that there is an ethics probe against him. There is some hilarity to the fact that Santos has made it this far.
Yet, then again, Mitt Romney is also Mitt Romney. So this is a weird circumstance of the pot calling the kettle black in many ways.
Mitt Romney says, “Oh, this guy&#8217;s a fraud. This guy&#8217;s lying. This guy&#8217;s raised money on these lies and now he&#8217;s here in Congress.”
OK, Mitt Romney, are you kidding me? You raised a lot more money on the basis of your lies.
You had people all around America actually believing that you would be a strong conservative candidate for president in 2012. In turn, those people gave you hundreds of millions toward your campaign, only to watch you lose and then turn into a leftist.
With regard to future legislation, I&#8217;m going to guess that Santos will vote more conservatively than Romney will.
But for Romney — people invested in him, and then everything he has done in Congress has benefited the Left. The Democrats can always count on Romney&#8217;s vote. Trump endorsed him in 2012 and in his Senate bid. Trump’s endorsement in 2018 truly sealed the deal for him.
And then what did he do once in power? He fought Trump every chance he got. He voted for him to be impeached and literally has spent his time opposing the MAGA agenda for nearly six years straight.
Why? Because Romney is a fraud. He lies and he collects money. So in this circumstance, nobody is really the hero — least of all Romney. 
Now, if anybody else went up and said something to Santos? I might be able to respect it, but not you, Mitt Romney, not you.
