A conservative legal group warned Monday of a “loophole” that allows thousands of voters in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wisconsin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wisconsin</a> to cast a ballot without showing identification. 
The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) released a <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2024/09/Indefinitely-Confined-FINAL-1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research report</a> that said there are 144,347 people in the Badger State classified as “indefinitely confined,” meaning that they could cast an absentee ballot without showing ID. Indefinitely confined rates skyrocketed during the 2020 election and allowed tens of thousands to cast absentee ballots. 
“Wisconsin has a strong voter ID requirement in place, but there is one loophole that is ripe for exploitation. In Wisconsin, voters can claim they are ‘Indefinitely Confined,’ a status that allows a voter to continually receive an absentee ballot without ever showing an ID,” the report from WILL researcher Will Flanders said. 
Flanders said that while the number of voters classified as “indefinitely confined” had come down from 2020, it was still 116% higher than it was back in 2016 as of July 2024. He added that there were still thousands of voters who should be removed from the list under state law. 
“Per state law, clerks are to remove voters if they vote in-person or do not vote in any election. Those voters must sign and return a form to retain that status,” the report noted. 
According to Flanders, voters who should have received a notice of potential removal from the &#8220;indefinitely confined&#8221; list include 24,800 who didn’t vote in the April election, 2,788 who haven’t voted at all since 2020, and 2,595 who voted in person in April.
The areas with the highest number of indefinitely confined voters are the Democratic strongholds of Milwaukee and Madison followed by more divided areas like Green Bay and Kenosha. 
Indefinitely confined voter status was designed to help voters who are elderly or disabled and unable to make it to the polls. Voters just have to select that they fit the requirements for being indefinitely confined.

“Under this statute, voters decide for themselves whether they meet the requirements and can receive an absentee ballot in perpetuity if they continue to vote in every election,” the report said. “Most critically, voters can receive ballots in this way without providing a photo ID. In Wisconsin, you only need to show a photo ID when you vote—not when you register.”

During the 2020 election, election officials in Madison and Milwaukee said that effectively all voters could claim indefinitely confined status because of COVID. The Wisconsin Supreme Court <a href="https://www.wisbar.org/NewsPublications/InsideTrack/Pages/Article.aspx?Volume=0&amp;ArticleID=28110#:~:text=In%20Republican%20Party%20of%20Wisconsin%20v.%20Dane%20County%2C,can%20declare%20persons%20indefinitely%20confined%20for%20any%20reason." target="_blank" rel="noopener">later ruled</a> against this guidance, after the election. 
WILL has argued that there should be tighter guidelines for receiving indefinitely confined status and sent out letters to 15 communities across the state to see if they were complying with state law about cleaning up their rolls. 
“Confidence in our elections continues to be dangerously low in Wisconsin and across the country,” Flanders told The Daily Wire. “Voter ID is a popular and well-executed way to keep our elections secure and free of fraud. While the Governor refused to fix this loophole in the years since 2020, efforts must be made by local election clerks to resolve it as much as possible.”
Wisconsin is expected to be one of the key battleground states that may determine the outcome of the 2024 election with polls showing a close race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Ohio Senator and GOP vice presidential nominee <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jd-vance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">JD Vance</a> said on Thursday that his 7-year-old son was trying to talk to him about Pokemon as former President Donald Trump called him about joining his ticket.
Vance made the comments on the “Full Send Podcast” when asked by the Nelk Boys after being asked about finding out that Trump had selected him as his vice president pick. He said that his son was interrupting his call with Trump to try to talk to him about Pikachu, a yellow creature with electrical abilities from the Pokemon universe. 
The Ohio Republican began by talking about how when he flew to Milwaulkee for the Republican National Convention he didn’t have WiFi on the plane so he had no idea what was going on. When he landed he said he had hundreds of messages. 
“And I land and I’ve got like 350 messages,” he said.  “And one of them is from somebody on the Trump campaign and says, ‘Hey, you know, check your phone. Make sure you don&#8217;t miss a call because a really important call is coming.’”

“The crazy thing about it is my son, who’s 7, is in the hotel room with me, and he’s really into Pokemon cards right now. He’s going through a Pokemon phase right now,” he said. “So he’s trying to talk to me about Pikachu and I’m on the phone with Donald Trump.”
Joking, he said that he asked his son to “shut the hell up for about 30 seconds about Pikachu.” 
“This is the most important phone call of my life,” he said. “Please just let me take this phone call. And he doesn’t care. He doesn&#8217;t know what the President of the United States means.”
He said Trump asked who was speaking and told him to put his son on speaker phone. 
“Trump proceeds to read the statement that he’s about to put out making me his vp nominee,” he said. Vance said Trump asked his son what he thought of the statement and his son said, “Oh, it sounds pretty good.” 
“He hangs up the phone and the statement goes out five minutes later and then my whole life changed,” Vance concluded.

Former President Donald Trump recounted the assassination attempt against his life for the first time in a speech to the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Thursday night.
Trump took to the stage on the final day of the RNC to accept the GOP nomination for president less than a week after a gunman&#8217;s bullet tore through his right ear. He recounted the harrowing moment, which took place on Saturday at a campaign rally in western Pennsylvania, for what he said would be the last time “because it’s actually too painful to tell.”
The former president had just taken the stage at the rally in Butler and was referencing immigration numbers shown on a screen to the side when he was shot.
“In order to see the chart, I started to … turn to my right and was ready to begin a little further turn – which I am very lucky I didn’t do – when I heard a loud whizzing sound and felt something hit me really, really hard on my right ear,” Trump said. “I said to myself, ‘Wow, what was that? It can only be a bullet,’ and moved my right hand to my ear, brought it down. My hand was covered with blood, just absolutely blood all over the place.”
As the president dropped on stage in cover, Secret Service agents rushed to shield him.
“These are great people at great risk, I will tell you, and pounced on top of me so that I will be protected,” Trump said, adding that he felt the presence of God protecting him.
 “There was blood pouring everywhere and yet in a certain way I felt very safe because I had God on my side,” Trump said, evoking cheers from the audience.
“The most incredible aspect of what took place on that terrible evening in the fading sun was actually seen later,” Trump said. The crowd of thousands of his supporters at the Pennsylvania rally did not, generally, fall into chaos or stampede, which could have injured many more people.
“This massive crowd of tens of thousands of people stood by and didn’t move an inch. In fact, many of them bravely but automatically stood up looking for where the sniper would be. They knew immediately it was a sniper, and then began pointing at him,” Trump said.
The former president said that while he was down on the stage, covered by Secret Service agents and bleeding through his right ear, he could see the concern written across the faces of the crowd.
“They didn’t know I was looking out. They thought it was over. But I could see it and I wanted to do something to let them know I was okay,” Trump recounted. “I raised my right arm, looked at the thousands and thousands of people that were breathlessly waiting, and started shouting, ‘Fight, fight, fight.’”
“Once my clenched fist went up, and it was high into the air – you’ve all seen that – the crowd realized I was okay and roared with pride for our country like no crowd I have ever heard before. Never heard anything like it,” Trump said. “For the rest of my life, I will be grateful for the love shown by that giant audience of patriots that stood bravely on that fateful evening in Pennsylvania.”

Trump Recounts Assassination Attempt: ‘I Had God On My Side’

Former Trump White House aide <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/peter-navarro" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Peter Navarro</a> was released from federal prison in Florida on Wednesday morning and is preparing to speak at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Wednesday night.
Navarro, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-trump-aide-peter-navarro-decries-partisan-weaponization-of-justice-as-he-begins-prison-sentence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">imprisoned</a> for four months after being convicted of contempt of Congress charges, has been a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump. The 75-year-old was sentenced after he did not show up for a deposition with the Democrat-run January 6 committee and did not provide them with certain documents, citing the doctrine of executive privilege. 
Navarro, who was the director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy under Trump, has maintained he did nothing wrong, saying he was targeted because of his political views and connections to Trump. 
“I’m afraid for this country because this, what they’re doing, should have a chilling effect on every American regardless of their party,” he said before turning himself in to federal authorities in March. “They come for me, they can come for you.”
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts rejected an effort by Navarro to avoid prison time while he appealed his case. 
Navarro will <a href="https://apnews.com/article/peter-navarro-prison-republican-national-committee-2b443fdbf14164fed4650332aaf6d0c9" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> speak around 6:00 p.m. CST Wednesday as the RNC enters its third day.

Bannon was also convicted for not complying with a subpoena from the January 6 committee in 2022 instructing him to testify and produce certain documents for the committee. After a lengthy appeals process, a federal judge <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/federal-judge-orders-bannon-to-report-to-prison">ordered</a> Bannon to report to prison on July 1. 
On the campaign trail, Trump has sharply criticized the Biden administration, saying that it has weaponized the Justice Department against him and his supporters. After a judge dismissed Jack Smith’s case against him over his handling of classified documents, the former president <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-responds-to-documents-case-being-dismissed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> all legal cases against him should be dropped.

The man arrested for her murder and rape, 23-year-old Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, illegally entered the United States in February 2023 under Biden&#8217;s watch, according to law enforcement. 
“Rachel, a joyful accomplished athlete and mother of five, was raped and murdered by a suspected illegal immigrant. This was described as among the most brutal and violent offenses that has ever occurred in Hartford County, Maryland, history,” Morin said during his speech. “Open borders are often portrayed as compassionate, but there is nothing compassionate about allowing violent criminals into our country and robbing children of their mother. My sister’s death was preventable.” 
According to Morin, neither Biden nor Harris ever reached out to him after his sister’s murder. 
“Joe Biden and his designated border czar, Kamala Harris, opened our borders to him, and others like him, empowering them to victimize the innocent,” he said. “Yet, to this day, we have not heard from Joe Biden or Kamala Harris. They never apologized.”
Morin said former President Donald Trump called to offer condolences and asked to meet with him. 
“What has gotten us through this unthinkable loss is our faith in Jesus Christ,” he said. “ And as brutal as the murder of my sister was, I pray that our killer will find Jesus Christ. For all the affected by senseless tragedy, I pray for peace.”
The trial for Hernandez is <a href="https://www.wbal.com/initial-court-appearance-changed-for-suspect-in-rape-and-murder-of-rachel-morin/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expected</a> to begin in October. He is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree rape, second-degree rape, third-degree sex offense, and kidnapping.
Trump has made cracking down on illegal immigration a large part of his presidential campaign. Donations for a “bail fund” were solicited by an umbrella organization protesting at a demonstration outside the Republican National Convention on Monday that they claim will draw 5,000 people from across the nation.
The Coalition to March on the RNC, consisting of more than 120 leftist groups, is unified by its fight against the “racist” agenda of the Republican Party, defense of abortion and immigrant rights, and standing with “Palestine,&#8221; according to its <a href="https://www.marchonrnc2024.org/">website</a>.
The group says it solicited money for its “bail fund” during its &#8220;RNC Protest Kickoff to Raise Funds for Freedom Fighters&#8221; on Sunday, according to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C9YBw1kp_6F/">a post</a> on its Instagram account.
“The RNC is still going to nominate Trump, and Project 2025 is still their goal. There will be many more fights and a bail fund will be vital to defend themselves,” the group wrote. “It&#8217;s also vital we learn and build a grassroots community to fight for our lives.”
Another post mentioned the group reached “a handshake agreement” with the City of Milwaukee to march within “sight and sound of the RNC.”
“Because of this, we know we will be able to keep people safer, have a family-friendly march, and march against the Republicans,” the group wrote.

The Milwaukee City Attorney’s office and members of the city’s police department met with the group to discuss the agreement, which allows them to take a route outside the RNC’s security perimeter, <a href="https://www.fox6now.com/news/coalition-march-rnc-prepares-agreement">according</a> to Fox 6.
The group’s website <a href="https://www.marchonrnc2024.org/blog/march-on-the-rnc-flyer">also asks</a> for donations to help cover the costs of protest supplies, water bottles, first aid kits, and legal fees. 
Leftist groups from across the country endorsed the march, including various unions, socialist clubs, and several anti-Israel organizations.
The agenda for its Monday protest includes a press conference, rally, and march beginning at noon CST, as <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/13/us/rnc-milwaukee-protests.html">reported by the New York Times</a>.
The group has been organizing the march for at least two years, as its first <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd_PppROOke/">Instagram post </a>was from May 2022. Another <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd_Qef7udJa/">post</a> claims that several organizations involved also helped with the Coalition to March on the DNC in 2019 and 2020.

The Republican National Committee is hyping its upcoming convention in Milwaukee, at which former President Donald Trump is expected to be officially nominated as the 2024 Republican presidential candidate.
The start of the convention is 10 days away, scheduled to begin on July 15 and last through July 18. The RNC prepared a short video hyping the three-day event that was first obtained by The Daily Wire.
The video is about 15 seconds long and is narrated by Republican Rep. Bryan Steil of Wisconsin. It features scenic video of Milwaukee, images of preparations taking place at the convention center, footage from Trump&#8217;s campaign, along with other images.
“Our nation’s at a crossroad and in July, Wisconsin will be in the driver’s seat. See you in Milwaukee,” Steil says as the shots flash by.

The convention is expected to attract 50,000 delegates, officials, and other guests. Roughly 10,000 hotel rooms have been booked in Wisconsin to accommodate the attendees. According to one estimate, the event’s economic impact is <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/money/real-estate/commercial/2024/02/09/heres-how-the-rnc-ranks-among-other-big-milwaukee-events/72269409007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expected</a> to be around $200 million for the state of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is shaping up to be a key battleground state in the 2024 presidential race. Trump currently has a slight edge over President Joe Biden, whose campaign has struggled to overcome a wave of opposition from Democrats after his feeble debate performance last week. Trump is running two points ahead of Biden in the <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/wisconsin/trump-vs-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Real Clear Politics</a> polling average for Wisconsin. The latest poll, conducted by Remington Research after last week’s debate, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-poll-shows-bidens-election-problems-widespread-among-democrats-in-key-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">showed</a> Trump leading Biden in the state by 6 points.
Trump is expected to name his vice presidential choice either just ahead of the convention or during it. He has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-hes-decided-on-a-running-mate-expects-this-person-to-attend-debate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">teased</a> his pick for weeks leading up to the event. The reported finalists for the spot include North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida is also reportedly in contention, though his position is complicated by laws surrounding the residency of the president and vice president. Rubio would have to establish his residence outside of the state of Florida. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina and Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas have also been mentioned.

Voters in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wisconsin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wisconsin</a> approved two election-related amendments to the State Constitution on Tuesday, including one that bans the use of private money for election administration. 
The Republican-backed amendments came after Facebook founder <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mark-zuckerberg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mark Zuckerberg</a> spent millions backing groups that funded election administration in counties across the country, including in Wisconsin, during the 2020 election. Critics argued that the massive amount of election funding distributed to non-profit groups, known as “Zuckerbucks,” unfairly benefited Democrat-dominated counties.
The initiative to ban private funding, Question 1, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/04/02/us/elections/results-wisconsin-question-1-prohibit-private-funding-of-elections.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed</a> with 54% of the vote in favor and nearly 46% against. A section will now be added to the State Constitution that says &#8220;private donations and grants may not be applied for, accepted, expended, or used in connection with the conduct of any primary, election, or referendum,” The Hill <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/4572010-wisconsin-pass-measure-private-funds-elections/">reported</a>. 
The second initiative, Question 2, defined who can administer various aspects of elections. It <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/04/02/us/elections/results-wisconsin-question-2-limit-election-conduct-to-election-officials.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed</a> with nearly 59% supporting and 41% opposed. It stipulated that “only election officials designated by law may perform tasks in the conduct of primaries, elections, and referendums.”
Opposition to the two amendments was greatest in the Democratic-heavy counties surrounding Madison and Milwaukee. The amendments were approved as Wisconsin is again expected to be a battleground state for a likely rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in November. 
“Victory! Wisconsin has spoken and the message is clear: elections belong to voters, not out-of-state billionaires,” Wisconsin GOP Chairman Brian Schimming <a href="https://wisgop.org/wisgop-statement-on-questions-1-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement. “Thanks to the efforts by the Republican Party of Wisconsin and grassroots organizing, Wisconsinites have turned the page on Zuckerbucks and secured our elections from dark money donors.”

<a href="https://thefga.org/research/the-wisconsin-zuckerbucks-problem/">According</a> to the Foundation for Government Accountability, more than $10 million in “Zuckerbucks” was spent in Wisconsin during the 2020 election. The FGA estimated that more than 80% of the funding went to areas Biden won by an average of 37 points. 
Jason Snead, the executive director of the Honest Elections Project, a group that has urged states to ban the use of outside funding for elections, praised the move in a statement obtained by The Daily Wire. 
“Honest Elections Project Action congratulates Wisconsinites for voting to enshrine a ban on private influence on election administration in their state constitution,” Snead said. “Private influence schemes such as ZuckBucks in 2020 and ZuckBucks 2.0 in 2024 sow distrust in election outcomes, which is why they should be banned in all 50 states. Moneyed interests, conservative and liberal alike, have no business influencing how elections are administered.”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/milwaukee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Milwaukee</a> County passed a resolution granting nature equal rights to mankind — the first move of its kind in the state.
The “Rights of Nature” <a href="https://milwaukeecounty.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&amp;ID=12288004&amp;GUID=D5D6F125-A5D1-4D55-92C7-DFB182990505" target="_blank" rel="noopener">resolution</a> passed on Friday, issuing specific protections for bodies of water in the county. The resolution originated from a greater indigenous-led movement to ensure that nature has the same legal protections as humans. Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley said that the resolution was a means to both honor indigenous beliefs about nature and to more effectively execute conservation efforts.
“This effort recognizes the legal rights of natural areas &amp; waterways to exist &amp; thrive without interference from human activity,” said Crowley. “It’s important for us to appreciate the outdoor environment that Milwaukee County resides on and acknowledge the Indigenous people whose deep relationships with these lands pre-date our own.”

The county struck draft language from the resolution acknowledging the indigenous “rights of nature” perspective as “symbolic in nature,” thereby rendering it to be factual.
“Milwaukee County recognizes the ‘rights of nature,’ which was initially enacted by the Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin, as a sacred idea and policy to protect Southeastern Wisconsin’s waterways and bodies of water from human harm,” stated the resolution.
The greater “rights of nature” movement believes that all of nature have the same rights as humans. The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) — established in 2012 at the behest of the United Nations — <a href="https://www.ipbes.net/policy-support/tools-instruments/rights-nature-ron%23:~:text=Rights%2520of%2520Nature%2520(RoN)%2520is,to%2520exist,%2520thrive%2520and%2520regenerate." target="_blank" rel="noopener">describes</a> the rights of nature as a means to achieve environmental protections by affording ecosystems the same legal protections as people and corporations. IPBES considers the rights of nature, or “RoN,” to be one of their public policy instruments.
The Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin originally <a href="http://files.harmonywithnatureun.org/uploads/upload981.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">enacted</a> the “rights of nature” in a January 2020 resolution, which Milwaukee County cited as a model for this latest resolution. The tribe declared that its resolution was enacted to thwart a proposed open-pit metallic sulfide mine, the Back Forty Mine.

“[T]he tribe recognizes that environmental laws which regulate the use and exploitation of nature are incapable of protecting the Menominee River and Mother Earth,” states the resolution. “[T]he tribe recognizes to protect the Menominee River, it must secure the highest protections for the river through the recognition of the river’s inherent and legal rights.”
The tribe declared that the river had a right to naturally exist, flourish, regenerate, evolve; the rights of restoration, recovery, and preservation; the right to abundant, pure, clean, and unpolluted water; the right to natural groundwater recharge and surface water recharge; the right to a healthy natural environment and natural biodiversity; the right to natural water flow; the right to carry out natural ecosystem functions; the right to be free of activities or practices, as well as obstructions, that interfere with or infringe upon these rights.
Additionally, the tribal resolution declared the Menominee River as the literal “origin of life” for the Menominee people. The tribe <a href="https://www.menominee-nsn.gov/GovernmentPages/Initiatives/Back40Mine/SixtyIslands.aspx%23:~:text=The%2520river,%2520at%2520its%2520mouth,the%25201st%2520Menominee%2520human%2520being." target="_blank" rel="noopener">believes</a> that the first Menominee human was originally a bear, a creature which the tribe believes to be supernatural in its nature.
“It is there that the Creator transformed the bear, a supernatural being who came from below the ground, into the [first] Menominee human being,” states the tribal government’s website.

Ramaswamy made the comments Wednesday during the first 2024 Republican <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/2024-gop-presidential-debate-live-updates-as-eight-republicans-face-off-in-milwaukee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">presidential primary debate</a> in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/milwaukee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Milwaukee</a>, Wisconsin. More than $79 billion was allocated to the Department of Education in fiscal year 2023. Ramaswamy also advocated the end of local teachers unions, which have been a barrier to school choice and charter school initiatives. 
“We have a crisis of achievement. Let&#8217;s shut down the head of the snake, the Department of Education. Take that $80 billion and put it in the hands of parents across this country. This is the civil rights issue of our time,” he said. “Allow any parent to choose where they send their kids to school. End the teachers unions at the local level to allow public schools to compete, and then revive our national identity.”

Additionally, Ramaswamy said that high school seniors should be required to take the same civics test that immigrants must pass to become citizens. He said that the crisis in American education, as kids have seen declining scores in key subjects like math and reading, is partly linked to fatherlessness. 
“Part of the problem is we also have a federal government that pays single women more not to have a man in the house than to have a man in the house, contributing to an epidemic of fatherlessness, and I think that goes hand in glove with the education crisis as well, because we have to remember: Education starts with the family; and, the nuclear family is the greatest form of governance known to mankind,” Ramaswamy said. 
Other candidates had similar answers on the topic of education. South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott also went after teachers unions.
