A Spanish woman delivered a heart-wrenching firsthand account of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/why-did-nearly-60000-african-migrants-storm-spains-beaches?author=Jennie+Taer&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=Why+Did+Nearly+60%2C000+African+Migrants+Storm+Spain%E2%80%99s+Beaches%3F">the crush of thousands of migrants</a> who stormed the beaches of Ceuta this week as she made a desperate plea for help.
Surrounded by a horde of Moroccan migrant men shouting and pushing, Ceuta resident Rocio cried out for help from the Spanish government, which she said has been missing in action amid the influx. Between Thursday and Friday, roughly 60,000 migrants, mainly young men, swam or scaled border fences into Ceuta, which sits on the African continent.
Nearly three dozen people are dead, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/07/31/world/spain-ceuta-migrants-morocco" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The New York Times.
&#8220;We are afraid. We cannot condone this. Where are our rights as Spaniards? Where are our principles as Spaniards? &#8230; They need to fortify this city. We need police on the streets, the civil guard on the streets, we need the military on the streets. They&#8217;re not there; we&#8217;re alone. We cannot call the police or the civil guard because they can&#8217;t keep up. We need urgent help,&#8221; Rocio said during a televised interview.
She went on to call the situation an &#8220;invasion&#8221; as she broke down in tears. That was when the migrant men standing behind her began shouting.
&#8220;This is really outrageous. I am surrounded, I&#8217;m afraid. How can I not be afraid? I even feel like crying. This can&#8217;t go on, this can&#8217;t go on, really. This can&#8217;t go on; we need help. The thing is, I&#8217;m shaking. Really, this has to be lived through. You have to live through this as a woman. You have to live through this as a woman,&#8221; Rocio said.
&#8220;You have to live through this to understand it,&#8221; she said. &#8220;This is an invasion. They&#8217;ve started with Ceuta, but this is the border to Spain, the border to Europe. Today it was Melilla, tomorrow it will be the Canary Islands. The day after, it will be Tarifa.&#8221;
At the end of the interview, the reporter remarked that the migrant group closing in behind them couldn&#8217;t be kept away or controlled.
&#8220;They&#8217;ve started approaching us. I am asking them to stay away, but there&#8217;s no way,&#8221; the reporter said. The men then clapped but didn&#8217;t appear to understand what the women had said.

Spain’s far-left Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, who is set to give amnesty to one million migrants this year, traveled to Ceuta on Friday after deploying the Spanish military to control the melee.
Sánchez vowed to deport some of the migrants.
Earlier this month, however, Spain’s Supreme Court ruled that migrants who enter by sea cannot be immediately expelled.
“The Government will guarantee the safety of the residents of Ceuta, intensifying the presence of the Security Forces and Corps on the city’s streets. Additionally, we will deploy a physical containment barrier in the sea to facilitate repatriation at the border, in compliance with the Supreme Court ruling,” Sánchez said.
After complaining they had not eaten in days and could not find food in Ceuta, thousands of the new arrivals began making the journey back to Morocco on Friday.

Thousands of African migrants swam to the shores of the Spanish territory of Ceuta on Thursday, leading to a chaotic scene that officials are scrambling to contain.
Dramatic video shows the moment the migrants, who are mainly young men from Morocco, swam onto the shores with some using inflatable inner tubes before marching down the beach and through the nearby roads. The border breach comes after Spain&#8217;s Supreme Court ruled earlier this month that migrants crossing by sea cannot be immediately deported.
“It has been a slow trickle since the Supreme Court’s ruling, but today has been an explosion,” a spokesman for Spain&#8217;s Guardia Civil police <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/thousands-migrants-cross-into-spains-ceuta-foot-efe-reports-2026-07-30/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Reuters.
Juan Jesús Vivas, the leader of Ceuta, urged the Spanish government to make a national emergency declaration and deploy the military to quell the migrant invasion, according to Reuters. Spain’s interior ministry said it couldn&#8217;t declare a national emergency as it doesn&#8217;t view migration flows as a risk to national security, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/spain-ceuta-tarajal-morocco-migrants-5c864e5f951e2a7cf7a3eac417668e97" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez <a href="https://x.com/sanchezcastejon">said</a> the country &#8220;is fully committed to providing an immediate response to the situation in Ceuta&#8221; and that they&#8217;re &#8220;mobilizing all necessary resources, working with Moroccan and international authorities, and preparing the necessary measures to restore normalcy as soon as possible.&#8221;
&#8220;I just conveyed this to President @JuanVivasLara. This is the moment to build solutions, with responsibility and cooperation,&#8221; Sánchez wrote on X Thursday.
It&#8217;s not the first time Ceuta — which, along with Melilla, Spain, are the European Union&#8217;s only land borders with Africa — has experienced a mass migration event. In May 2021, the Spanish territory saw the arrival of roughly 8,000 migrants during a period of just two days, according to the AP.
The situation doesn&#8217;t appear to be coming to an end anytime soon as migrants continue staging at the Moroccan city of Fnideq to prepare to enter Spain, migrant ​rights activist Zakaria Zarroqui told Reuters.
&#8220;The situation remains out of control as we speak,&#8221; Zarroqui said.

Dramatic Video Shows Thousands Of African Migrants Storming Spain’s Border

Legal advisers have been telling migrants from Muslim countries to pose as gay to be granted asylum in Britain, with some lawyers going as far as coaching migrants on how to fabricate photos and come up with their own back stories, the BBC <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c937wldkkw8o">reported</a> on Wednesday.
The BBC&#8217;s undercover investigation revealed how legal advisers are raking in cash by helping migrants from Pakistan and Bangladesh apply for asylum by claiming to be gay, which would put them at risk of persecution in their home countries.
One BBC reporter went undercover to a meeting organized by a group that claims to support gay and lesbian asylum seekers. Around 175 people attended the meeting put on by Worcester LGBT, but it appeared that none of them actually identified as lesbian or gay.
&#8220;Most of the people here are not gays,&#8221; one man said, according to the BBC.
Another man replied, &#8220;Nobody is a gay here. Not even 1% are gay. Not even 0.01% are gay.&#8221;
The BBC reporter posed as a migrant seeking asylum and met multiple times with an adviser for Worcester LGBT named Tanisa. For their first meeting, the reporter met with Tanisa at her house and was invited to her bedroom to chat. Tanisa sat on her bed as she told the undercover journalist that he should apply for asylum as a gay man, but the reporter quickly informed Tanisa that he wasn&#8217;t gay.
&#8220;Listen to me. There is nobody who is real. There is only one way out in order to live here now and that is the very method everyone is adopting,&#8221; Tanisa replied.
&#8220;At the moment there is only one route from where you can get a visa and it is open,&#8221; she added. &#8220;It is the asylum visa &#8230; it is on human rights and it is called gay case or same sex. There is no hope for any other visa.&#8221;
Tanisa stressed that the undercover reporter would have to convince the U.K. government of his asylum claim by memorizing a made-up story and coming up with fake photos.
&#8220;The approach we will take is this: I will fully prepare you for the interview by compiling a comprehensive package for you, including photographs of you at clubs, various other pieces of supporting evidence, an organizational letter, and additional letters of support, so that you are completely ready when I send you in,&#8221; Tanisa said.
The cost of the legal advice came out to 2,500 British pounds, or 3,385 U.S. dollars, but Tanisa said that price would increase if the U.K. government rejected the asylum claim and the case was appealed. The phony asylum seeker then asked about his &#8220;wife,&#8221; who was still in Pakistan.
&#8220;If you call her here, then we will apply for her asylum as well,&#8221; Tanisa said. &#8220;Once she&#8217;s here, we can make her a lesbian.&#8221;
The LGBT sham could bring in as much as 7,000 pounds, or 9,480 U.S. dollars, per case for some legal firms, the BBC reported.
The BBC also interviewed one man who arrived in Britain from Pakistan in 2011 on a student visa. When his visa expired, he sought help from a lawyer who advised him to claim to be gay and attend Pride marches and gay clubs to bolster his story. In that case, the migrant&#8217;s attempt at asylum was unsuccessful, and he moved back to Pakistan. That migrant, however, told the BBC that three of his friends from Pakistan successfully obtained asylum in Britain by lying about their sexuality.
The United Kingdom has seen a massive spike in Muslim migrants in the past decade, and hundreds of those migrants have claimed LGBT identities in their asylum claims. Britain&#8217;s Home Office <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c937wldkkw8o">reported</a> that 578 Pakistanis claimed to be LGBT in their asylum claims in 2023 alone. Another 175 asylum-seekers from Bangladesh and 103 from Nigeria claimed to be LGBT.

The last running hotel-turned-migrant shelter in New York City is set to close in April.
The Row Hotel, which was also the first to be <a href="https://abc7ny.com/post/asylum-seekers-migrants-immigration-nyc-migrant/12323493/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">converted</a> into a migrant shelter in 2022, is located a block away from Times Square. Housing migrants in the luxury property’s 1,300 units costs the city $5.13 million a month.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced on Monday that the city would not renew its contract with Rockpoint Group, which owns the establishment.
He called the closure a “major milestone in our administration’s recovery from this international humanitarian crisis,” in a statement to the <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/immigration/3496193/major-new-york-hotel-migrant-shelter-ends-city-contract-eric-adams/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington Examiner</a>.
“Three years ago, thousands of migrants and asylum seekers began streaming into our city every week — and the Adams administration stepped up.”
“We opened hundreds of emergency migrant shelters to ensure no family slept on the street. Since then, we have successfully helped more than 200,000 migrants leave our shelter system and take the next step toward self-sufficiency,” Adams continued.
At its <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/08/09/us-news/nyc-to-shut-down-last-migrant-hotel-after-shelling-out-170-million-to-crime-ridden-shelter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">peak</a>, New York City was running 220 migrant shelters. In 2024, 80% of its 193 operating shelters were former hotels.
“We have skillfully and humanely managed a national humanitarian crisis — and have done what no other city could do,” he added.
The Row has become a hotspot for crime and chaos, with numerous recorded <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/08/09/us-news/nyc-to-shut-down-last-migrant-hotel-after-shelling-out-170-million-to-crime-ridden-shelter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">incidents</a> of attacks against NYPD officers by residents who are members of the Tren de Aragua gang.
City residents are celebrating the closure and the end of mass sheltering.
“Hallelujah. I’m happy that it’s happening,” said a resident of The Camelot apartment complex across the street. “We pay a lot of money to live here, and it doesn’t seem fair.”
“There are people sitting here all day, littering, leaving food waste, water bottles,” the resident said. “A lot of them have children, and there are women sitting around here smoking weed all day, the children are just playing on the street, on the bike lanes.”
One security guard said he started wearing a wedding ring because he’s been propositioned twice by migrant prostitutes staying at the hotel.
The closures come as President Donald Trump’s immigration policies have reduced illegal border crossings by over <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/washington-secrets/3411740/border-crisis-illegal-immigration-pete-flores-hearing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">99%</a>. CNN recently <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1952065321889902682" target="_blank" rel="noopener">predicted</a> the United States will reach negative net migration in 2025, for the first time in 50 years.
The 3,400 current residents of the Row will be moved to the city’s traditional shelter system, according to the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/10/nyregion/migrants-row-hotel-nyc.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Times</a>.
A spokesman for the mayor’s office noted that the city government has also “purchased more than 65,000 tickets to help migrants exit the shelter system and reach their preferred destinations.”
The mayor’s office also noted that of the migrants already in New York, 110,000 asylum applications have been processed so far, accounting for over 90% of those eligible.
That levels out to $3950 a unit, a few hundred dollars above the <a href="https://www.realtor.com/advice/rent/cheapest-new-york-city-roommate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">average</a> monthly rate for a single room in NYC.

Vermont Democrat Congresswoman Becca Balint, the state’s first female and openly gay member of Congress, slammed the Trump administration’s actions toward immigrants while declaring that if immigration is decreased, “We’re not gonna have anybody around to wipe our a**es.”
Speaking at a town hall in Newport, Vermont, Balint launched into a diatribe in which she posited that there weren’t enough people in America &#8220;to fill the jobs we have right now.&#8221;
“We all know our AG system in Vermont would collapse without migrant labor; that’s just a reality. That’s the reality,” she began. “We know our economy is completely bound up in immigration and migrant labor, and of course, we have to come to a place in Congress where it is no longer a political issue but we see it as an existential issue for the country. If we don’t have avenues for people to come here legally to work or to build a home here — I’m gonna be really crude right now, we’re not gonna have anybody around to wipe our a**es, because we don’t have enough people in our country now to fill the jobs that we have right now.”
“But we have to make sure those folks are getting a decent wage and making sure that their rights are protected,” she continued, then offering a bone to those who want secure borders, saying, “And we also have to make sure that we have an adult conversation in Congress about the give and take and how this works, because it is not a xenophobic or racist thing for people to say they want to know our borders are secure. That alone is not.”

Then she segued to attacking the Trump administration: “What falls apart is how policies are enacted, and right now, we have a fair amount of lawlessness that is happening among ICE and Homeland Security that was not anything, I think, that most voters wanted. What they wanted was to know there was a secure border, that there would be pathways to citizenship, and rules would be the same for everybody. The problem is right now people are following the rules, and every step of the way and they are still being carted off and kidnapped and not being allowed to have access to their attorneys.”

The Supreme Court ruled 8-1 on Monday that the Trump administration can remove Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for around 350,000 Venezuelan migrants who were allowed to remain in the United States under the Biden administration.
In an unsigned order that included no opinions, the Supreme Court gave the Trump administration the green light to end TPS for Venezuelan migrants pending an appeal of the case, likely paving the way for the administration to ramp up deportations, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/19/us/politics/supreme-court-protected-status-venezuelans.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, a Biden appointee, was the only justice to say she would have denied the Trump administration&#8217;s request.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem kicked off the controversy over protected status for Venezuelan migrants in February when she terminated an 18-month extension of TPS for the migrants granted by Biden just before he left office. The extension would allow the Venezuelan migrants to remain in the United States and seek work authorization until October 2026.
After a lawsuit was brought against the Trump administration, Judge Edward M. Chen of the Federal District Court in San Francisco blocked Noem&#8217;s move to end TPS, saying that plaintiffs would have likely succeeded in showing that the secretary&#8217;s decision was “unauthorized by law, arbitrary and capricious, and motivated by unconstitutional animus.” The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit then rejected Trump&#8217;s request to pause the district court&#8217;s ruling before the case ended up in the Supreme Court.

Monday&#8217;s order from the high court is welcome news for Trump after justices ruled against the president 7-2 last Friday, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/supreme-court-trump-administration-venezuelans-alien-enemies-act-rcna202094" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ordering</a> the administration to pause deportations of suspected Venezuelan gang members to a prison in El Salvador. In that case, the majority ruled that the Trump administration must give detainees more time to raise legal objections. Only conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented. Trump blasted Friday&#8217;s decision, <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114519567610751944" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a>, &#8220;The Supreme Court won&#8217;t allow us to get criminals out of our country!&#8221;

There have been a lot of changes in the second Trump administration, as we all know. But there was one change from the very beginning that hasn&#8217;t gotten nearly as much attention as it should. It&#8217;s when Trump stood up during his inauguration speech and invoked the idea of Manifest Destiny, which is of course deeply rooted in the idea of American exceptionalism.
For the first time in many generations, a U.S. president felt no shame in proclaiming that America is the greatest nation on the planet. And crucially, Donald Trump didn&#8217;t make this proclamation as a platitude. He wasn&#8217;t seeking to get a quick sound bite out of it, by reminding people of history class when they heard terms like &#8220;Manifest Destiny&#8221; and American exceptionalism. Instead, Trump meant it, in a practical sense. We&#8217;re the best nation, he said. And therefore we can do what we want. We can impose tariffs and force everyone to the negotiating table. We can deport criminals and ignore corrupt judges who tell us otherwise. In a matter of weeks, we can eliminate bureaucracy, talk about acquiring Greenland, and become energy independent — which is no small thing when the entire continent of Europe teeters on the verge of a blackout.  We can do all of these things because, in very real terms, we are unique. Period. We have a fighting spirit that no other nation on the planet can match.
If you attended college in the last 50 years, you&#8217;ve probably been conditioned not to say things like this. You&#8217;re told it&#8217;s gaudy, or a relic of colonialism or something like that. But it happens to be true. And every day, we&#8217;re reminded it&#8217;s true. We can see, right out in the open, that other nations are inferior to our own. Look closely enough, and you&#8217;ll see that they&#8217;ll admit it. They are preoccupied with their own destruction.
Let&#8217;s start with the UK, which is allegedly one of our closest allies. A couple of weeks ago, you might remember, we <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg3G_P1jO_c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">talked about</a> the Netflix show &#8220;Adolescence,&#8221; and how it&#8217;s essentially taken over the entire country. 
&#8220;Adolescence&#8221; is a mini-series in which a white 13-year-old boy named Jamie stabs a girl to death after the girl rejects his advances. The &#8220;hook,&#8221; if you can call it that, is that the show blames online culture for the killer&#8217;s actions, at least to some extent. The victim had bullied the 13-year-old boy on Instagram, for example. He had been called an &#8220;incel&#8221; and so on. The point of the show is that &#8220;male rage&#8221; is fueled by online misogyny and bullying, and that children are liable to become murderers at any moment, even if they live in a loving, stable two-parent household. That&#8217;s the message the showrunners wanted to convey, even though it flies in the face of common sense and every data point we have. Beyond that, there wasn&#8217;t anything very interesting about the show. The cameraman is doing more interesting things than any of the actors, since everything is supposedly shot in one take.
So it was reasonable to assume that, after the initial hype died down over this mini-series, that the UK would move on pretty quickly. That&#8217;s the normal trajectory that shows like this tend to follow. And indeed, that&#8217;s what many in my audience said would happen. I received dozens of comments on my last monologue on &#8220;Adolescence&#8221;, where several people who live in Britain explained that, actually, the show isn&#8217;t that popular over there to begin with. Additionally, as we discussed, there was an infamous interview broadcast on the BBC, where the anchors grill a conservative politician about the fact that she hasn&#8217;t seen the show. They were stunned, for the entire interview, that she hadn&#8217;t watched it. And no matter how much the politician tried to explain to these anchors that the show isn&#8217;t real, they kept doubling down. When we played that footage two weeks ago, it seemed like it was safe to assume that the obsession over this show had officially jumped the shark. It seemed too absurd to continue. Everyone, even fans of the show, would certainly walk away slowly and find something else to fixate on.
But that hasn&#8217;t happened in the UK. Instead, &#8220;Adolescence&#8221; isn&#8217;t simply dominating political discussions anymore. Now the show is being used to justify new legislation that would dramatically curtail free speech rights in the country — almost as if that was the point of the show all along. In fact, the show&#8217;s creators just testified in parliament to demand this new legislation. Yes, the government held an entire hearing on a fictional television show, in which the show&#8217;s writer testified as an expert before the government&#8217;s &#8220;Women and Equalities Committee.&#8221; That is the very dire and hopeless state of the so-called United Kingdom at the moment.
We&#8217;ll start at the beginning of the hearing, when a member of parliament named Sarah Owen begins questioning Jack Thorne, who&#8217;s the creator and executive producer of &#8220;Adolescence.&#8221; And this member of parliament is very interested in knowing more about Jamie, and why he snapped and decided to kill a girl. But there&#8217;s a bit of a snag, because the politician clearly doesn&#8217;t understand what the creator of the show was getting at, which leads to this mildly amusing exchange. Watch:

There&#8217;s a couple of layers of embarrassment here. First of all, of course, they&#8217;re talking about a fake person as if he&#8217;s real. He&#8217;s saying it would take him &#8220;nine years&#8221; to unpack the brain of a fictional character named Jamie, who, because he doesn&#8217;t actually exist, does not therefore have a brain, or a history, or emotions. And for her part, the politician — who apparently chairs this committee in parliament — keeps pressing for more information about this fictional individual. She&#8217;s really determined to understand what makes him tick, even though he doesn&#8217;t exist. This went on for something like two hours, by the way. The hearing was full of moments like this.
As it went on, it became clear that Jack Thorne is especially concerned about &#8220;conspiracy theories,&#8221; as he calls them. And at one point in the hearing, Thorne elaborated on the term &#8220;conspiracy theories.&#8221; It turns out that — stop me if you&#8217;ve heard this one before — a conspiracy theory is something that&#8217;s completely true, but highly inconvenient for the political Left. That&#8217;s his response, when he&#8217;s asked about the race-swap in &#8220;Adolescence.&#8221; He&#8217;s asked about a conservative politician who pointed out that, unlike what you see on Netflix, white kids from stable households are not stabbing many people in the UK. That&#8217;s the truth. It&#8217;s kids from broken homes, along with jihadists, who are doing most of the damage. And in response to that point, which is obviously true, Thorne states that the conservative politician must be &#8220;consuming&#8221; the wrong content online. The implication, of course, is that anyone who tells the truth about knife crime in the UK — and violent crime in general — should be censored. You&#8217;re required to think that it&#8217;s young white kids from loving two-parent households that are knifing everyone, and you&#8217;re supposed to ignore the literal jihadist with an Al Qaeda training manual in his backpack who murders young girls at a dance studio.
Again, this is the state of the UK — a country that we once had a lot in common with. But this is what they&#8217;re reduced to. I want to show one more clip from this hearing, because it just kept getting more and more comical as it went on. Eventually Jack Thorne left, and he was replaced by a bunch of self-described &#8220;experts&#8221; and government officials who — supposedly — would provide some hard evidence in support of more online censorship. 
But then, a funny thing happened. 
When they were asked for evidence that misogyny is on the rise in the UK, they didn&#8217;t have any data. They couldn&#8217;t point to any objective, verifiable information about all the young white men who are going out and killing women because of Andrew Tate or whatever. Instead — and I&#8217;m not making this up — the experts turned around and cited the show &#8220;Adolescence,&#8221; and the testimony from Jack Thorne. Watch:

So they don&#8217;t have any data, actually. They just have the show &#8220;Adolescence,&#8221; and the testimony from its &#8220;executive producer.&#8221; According to the government expert, that qualifies as &#8220;evidence&#8221; in the UK. Time to pass a law eliminating free speech on the internet, I guess. But the point here is not to mock the UK, as entertaining as that would be. The point is that this kind of embarrassing spectacle is not very surprising for them. There aren’t very many people left in that country to speak out against it. There isn’t much of a &#8220;right wing&#8221; in the UK, or almost anywhere else in the western world outside of the United States.
And if you don&#8217;t believe that, look at the election that just <a href="https://barsoom.substack.com/p/post-mortem-for-the-canadian-election" target="_blank" rel="noopener">took place</a> in Canada. After ten years of destroying Canada&#8217;s economy and opening the borders to hordes of foreign nationals, the Liberal Party was just re-elected. Voters once again handed the Liberal Party control of government, even after the Liberals froze the bank accounts of peaceful protesters, arrested journalists in the street, trampled old ladies with horses, disarmed the entire population, and effectively banned independent journalists from posting their content on social media platforms. Canadians saw the government declare martial law over a bunch of truckers who didn&#8217;t want to be compelled to take an experimental shot, and they said, &#8220;we want more of that.&#8221; And also, of course, they want more taxes so that they can stop the weather from changing.
I&#8217;m not going to pretend to be an expert on the ins-and-outs of Canadian politics. Here&#8217;s how it begins.

That&#8217;s a useful framework to look at what just happened in Canada, especially as you hear a lot of people blaming Donald Trump and tariffs and so on. In Canada, very few young people can afford homes. There aren&#8217;t many good jobs. The only really viable aspects of Canadian society are the public sector — which is sustained through taxes and borrowed money — and retirees. The public-sector employees are the ones who celebrated when truckers were beaten by the police in Ottawa a few years ago. They resent the working-class. Their only interest is seeing their pensions vest. Meanwhile, older Canadians have made their money, and they don&#8217;t seem to care about what happens to their country going forward.

It shows the &#8220;most important factors&#8221; in people&#8217;s votes, broken out by age. It&#8217;s from Abacus Data, which is a Canadian polling firm. Notice that, for most young people under the age of 44, &#8220;reducing the cost of living&#8221; is the top issue. But for Canadians over the age of 60, the top issue was &#8220;dealing with Donald Trump.&#8221;
In other words, Canadian seniors are not even pretending to be interested in the internal affairs of their own country. They&#8217;re not concerned about the fact that young people are overdosing at increasing rates, or that many of them are well into their 30s, sharing tiny apartments with roommates just to make ends meet. What they care about, instead, is &#8220;dealing with Donald Trump&#8221; — an elected official from a different country, who hasn&#8217;t caused a single ounce of the misery that Canada has been enduring for the past decade.
In this country, by contrast, older voters were mostly <a href="https://www.aarp.org/politics-society/government-elections/info-2024/election-analysis-older-voters.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">concerned</a> about the economy in the last election. In Michigan, for example, the AARP found that &#8220;24 percent of older voters cited the economy and jobs, and another 24 percent cited inflation, as top concerns.&#8221; So nearly half of these voters are interested in things that every American should be interested in — which is creating a stable and functioning economy so that people can buy homes and raise children.
But in Canada, as in the UK, the priorities are different. That&#8217;s why these countries are spending their time talking about Netflix shows, and electing globalists who promise to send mean tweets to Donald Trump or whatever.
It&#8217;s a sobering realization, but it&#8217;s true: These countries, which are supposed to be great allies who we have a lot in common with, do not have a functioning conservative movement at all. One that respects the sanctity of life from the moment of conception, one that values the importance of economic growth for everyone, and one that understands the distinction between fiction and reality. With every election that takes place in Canada, and every humiliating hearing on &#8220;Adolescence&#8221; that the UK is subjected to, the truth becomes clearer by the day. It&#8217;s time to admit it, because it&#8217;s unavoidable at this point: The future of conservatism, and thus of Western civilization, is in our hands — and our hands alone.

It’s hard to keep track of all the immigration cases that blew up once President Trump started securing our borders and enforcing U.S. immigration law only three months ago.
The latest <a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/25897170-chnvparole041425/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decision</a> by Massachusetts District Court judge Indira Talwani was an unjustified and baseless nationwide injunction blocking Trump’s decision last month to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-admin-pulling-legal-status-more-than-530k-migrants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">end the parole status</a> for half a million Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan nationals.
Nationwide injunctions by federal judges are based on dubious authority and threaten the separation of powers doctrine in the Constitution – the checks and balances that hold this nation together. The sooner Congress and the Supreme Court implement and enforce clear limits on this, the better.
But it’s not just the sweeping executive power that Judge Talwani, an Obama appointee, asserts is the problem. It’s also the bewildering double-standard applied to the Biden and Trump administrations on immigration.
Americans want to believe that once appointed, judges do their best to follow the Constitution and the law. But it gets harder each time we see a ruling that stretches logic and law to reach a conclusion that aligns with politics. We’ve seen so many in the past few years, including the many “<a href="https://www.wsj.com/video/series/wonder-land-henninger/wsj-opinion-the-high-price-of-democrats-anti-trump-lawfare/04D0426F-2196-433D-B6FF-56BCA3688D79?mod=bizbuysell_trending_now_video_pos1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawfare</a>” cases brought against President Trump since his first term.
Let’s get our heads around immigration parole. Aliens who want to come to the U.S. need a visa. In exceptional cases, Congress provided a <a href="https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-prelim-title8-section1182&amp;num=0&amp;edition=prelim" target="_blank" rel="noopener">limited power</a> for the executive (exercised by the President through his Secretary of Homeland Security) to parole aliens for limited periods. When that period ends, they go back to whatever status they had before.
In 1996, Congress tightened the rules, clarifying that parole could only be granted on a “case-by-case basis,” and strictly “for urgent humanitarian reasons” or a “significant public benefit.” Parole isn’t a path to permanent status.
Blatantly violating the clear limits set by Congress, Biden perverted parole to invent a slew of “McVisa” programs to benefit groups he liked and to bypass numerical caps.
Biden’s DHS started paroling illegal aliens caught at the border, arguing that they didn’t have room to detain them. This <a href="https://cis.org/Arthur/Federal-Judge-Vacates-Bidens-ParoleATD-Border-Release-Policy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Parole+ATD”</a> was shut down by a federal judge who <a href="https://legacy.myfloridalegal.com/webfiles.nsf/WF/GPEY-CPQPAB/%24file/final%20order.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> the president didn’t have the authority to give illegal aliens a free pass into the country.
In August 2021, Biden invented Operation Allies Welcome to let in thousands of Afghans. In theory, these were supposed to be the ones who’d helped the U.S. and whose lives might be in danger under the Taliban, but in practice, many got in through fraud or had nothing to do with our efforts in their country. Some were even criminals and suspected terrorists.
Then in April 2022, Biden <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/ukraine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">began</a> a Uniting for Ukraine program to bring people in from that country, even though (a) you might wonder why the men weren’t home fighting Russia, and (b) why they could not have claimed asylum in neighboring European countries instead of the U.S.
In January 2023, Biden <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/01/05/fact-sheet-biden-harris-administration-announces-new-border-enforcement-actions/">rolled out</a> a Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan Parole program allowing up to 30,000 nationals from those four countries per month to enter the U.S.
Then he added up to 1,400 appointments a day for nationals of any country to schedule their illegal entry into the U.S. using the <a href="https://cis.org/Arthur/Whats-Biden-Doing-Migrants-Ports-Entry">CBP One</a> phone app, as long as they claimed to be in Mexico. Nearly all of them ended up getting <a href="https://cis.org/Arthur/958-Percent-Illegal-Migrants-Who-Preschedule-Their-Illegal-Entries-Are-Allowed">paroled</a> once they showed up at a U.S. port of entry.
Finally, in June 2024, Biden tried but failed to give a de facto amnesty via parole to over a million illegal aliens who were married to American citizens. Who knows how far a “President Harris” could have continued with parole-a-palooza, had she won.
All told, Biden used bogus parole programs to bring in over 1.5 million inadmissible illegal aliens.
Even though the law specifically says a president can’t use parole to bypass the U.S. official refugee program, that was clearly the intent. The Biden administration expected them all to claim asylum and live here while their cases dragged on for years or decades. But not all of them bothered to make that claim, figuring parole would just be extended. Bad bet.
Trump revoked the CHNV parole – as was his rightful power as president – in March. What Biden did, even if it wasn’t right, Trump had the power to undo.
For Judge Talwani to now tell Trump he can’t revoke parole for 530,000 paroled CHNV nationals without a “case-by-case” review is rich indeed. Does she seriously think that every one of the 30,000 CHNV applicants Biden let in per month was examined and approved on a “case-by-case” basis? Sure, if we say every fan let into Yankee Stadium for a game has been admitted “case-by-case.” If it simply means ‘one-by-one’, then Secretary of Homeland Security Noem can certify that, and it will be just as true as it was when former Secretary Mayorkas did.
Federal immigration law is very clear that the president has wide discretion to deny or revoke visas and remove aliens on national security or discretionary grounds. He can do or undo parole as well.
Joe Biden violated the law when he provided mass parole to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens. No judge should be able to stop a successor president from undoing the harm a prior president has done, particularly harm that was done by ignoring, twisting, and breaking the law.

The NYPD announced Tuesday that police have identified the person who was set on fire and burned to death in a subway train car last week.
The woman, Debrina Kawam, 61, had a Toms River, New Jersey address, police said.
She had a “brief stint in our homeless shelter system,” New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams <a href="https://apnews.com/article/new-york-subway-burning-woman-688e2ebd46f0eb8f5c9e3430cf2b4bd5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Tuesday.
The mayor added that authorities have been in contact with her next of kin.
“Hearts go out to the family, a horrific incident to have to live through,” Adams said of the killing. “It impacts on how New Yorkers feel. But it really reinforces what I’ve been saying: People should not be living on our subway system, they should be in a place of care. No matter where she lived that should not have happened.”
On Sunday last week, Kawam was sleeping on a Brooklyn F train when she was set on fire by an illegal migrant. Horrifying footage of her burning alive while standing inside the subway car spread across social media last week.
Kawam reportedly had a walker and several bags nearby as she slept on the train around 7:30 a.m. at the Stillwell Avenue-Coney Island station at the end of the line. She had <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/12/31/us-news/mystery-woman-torched-to-death-in-horrific-nyc-subway-attack-finally-identified-by-cops-sources/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> been living in city homeless shelters since September. She had a bed at the Franklin Williams Women’s Shelter in the Bronx for a few days at the beginning of December.
The city medical examiner <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/12/24/us-news/woman-torched-to-death-on-mta-train-allegedly-by-illegal-migrant-still-cannot-be-idd-three-days-after-horrifying-attack-due-to-severe-burns-sources/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> had difficulty identifying the victim because the body was so severely burned.
An illegal migrant from Guatemala, Sebastian Zapeta, 33, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and arson for allegedly setting her on fire. Video footage appears to show the culprit fanning the flames with his shirt, then sitting down to watch his victim burn alive.
Zapeta is being held at Rikers Island jail without bail.
He entered the country illegally in 2018 and was deported less than a week later, according to immigration authorities, but he eventually entered again and was living in a New York City shelter as of March 2023.
According to a fellow shelter resident, Zapeta was addicted to smoking the synthetic drug K2 and drank vodka heavily.
“He smoked K2, drank, and bugged out,” Raymond Robinson, who slept next to Zapeta at the Samaritan Village Forbell men’s shelter in Brooklyn, <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/12/24/us-news/sebastian-zapeta-calil-charged-in-womans-burning-death-on-nyc-subway-often-bugged-out-after-smoking-k2-shelter-roommate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the New York Post.
Police <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/12/24/us-news/sebastian-zapeta-calil-charged-in-womans-burning-death-on-nyc-subway-often-bugged-out-after-smoking-k2-shelter-roommate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Zapeta told them he had been drinking so much that he did not remember setting the woman on fire.
“This was a malicious deed. A sleeping, vulnerable woman on our subway system,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said when the indictment was announced against Zapeta.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is working on a potential plan to counteract the new Trump administration&#8217;s plans for mass deportations, an early idea of how blue states could try to hamstring federal authorities looking to remove illegal migrants.
The draft of the plan, called the “Immigrant Support Network Concept” suggests the “creation of an Immigrant Support Network comprised of regional ‘hubs’ to connect at-risk individuals, their families, and communities with community systems — such as legal services, schools, labor unions, local governments, etc,” Politico <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/12/24/newsom-california-immigrants-trump-00195984" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
The plan remains general, and the draft cautions that it is not finalized yet.
Under the plan, the California Department of Social Services would be responsible for running the migrant support &#8220;hubs&#8221; and would give state funds to nonprofits. The department is still gauging interest in the program, according to the draft.
The amount of funding the plan would require is unclear, but the draft says funding would go towards “community outreach, partnership, legal services staffing positions, and approved administrative costs associated with hub operations.”
“The administration continues to collaborate with the Legislature to finalize a thoughtful special session funding proposal, which is on track to be signed into law before January 20, 2025,” department spokesperson Theresa Mier told the outlet.
The second Trump administration has plans for a massive deportation operation to remove illegal migrants, starting with violent criminals.
President-elect Donald Trump tapped Homan as “border czar” last month after his election victory, and Homan has been clear that he will lead an aggressive deportation strategy.
While criminals will be prioritized for deportation, Homan said the U.S. is prepared to deport parents in the country illegally even if they have young U.S.-born children, allowing the families to decide whether to be deported together or split up and leave their children here.
“Here’s the issue,” Homan <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trumps-border-czar-says-family-deportations-will-not-be-inhumane" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the Washington Post. “You knew you were in the country illegally and chose to have a child. So you put your family in that position.”
“We need to show the American people we can do this and not be inhumane about it,” Homan said. “We can’t lose the faith of the American people.”
Meanwhile, the Biden administration is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-biden-races-to-sell-off-border-wall-parts-before-trump-takes-office" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rushing</a> to sell off border wall materials before Trump takes office in an apparent effort to slow down the new administration&#8217;s efforts to secure the border.
Across the country, there are now nearly 7.8 million illegal migrants, federal data <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/majority-of-new-yorkers-support-trumps-mass-deportation-policy-poll" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shows</a>.
Of those, a total of 662,586, just around 8.6%, have been convicted of crimes or have charges pending, according to ICE data through July 21.

“We need to show the American people we can do this and not be inhumane about it,” Homan <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2024/12/26/immigration-border-tom-homan-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The Washington Post in an interview published Thursday.
“We can’t lose the faith of the American people,” he added.
Homan also said the U.S. is prepared to deport parents in the country illegally even if they have young U.S.-born children, allowing the families to decide whether to be deported together or split up and leave their children here.
“Here’s the issue,” Homan said. “You knew you were in the country illegally and chose to have a child. So you put your family in that position.”
Families will be detained in &#8220;soft-sided&#8221; tent structures by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said Homan, who was acting ICE director during Trump’s first term.
Homan also said the new administration will need to build new family facilities, but how many beds they need will depend on what the data shows.

The new administration will also launch a separate effort to locate more than 300,000 children who came into the country unaccompanied and illegally and were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dhs-made-no-effort-to-locate-missing-unaccompanied-alien-children-auditor-says-in-urgent-alert" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> to adult sponsors who stopped responding to government workers conducting welfare checks.
“I think some of these children will be in forced labor, and some will be in the sex trade,” he said. “I think some will be perfectly fine. We just want to make sure.”
He emphasized that families who enter the country illegally and reunite with their children can go through deportation proceedings together.
“I’m not saying take them into custody,” he said. “We’ll let them get the child and put them in proceedings with the child, so they can go to court and plead their case as a family.”
Across the country, there are now nearly 7.8 million illegal migrants, federal data <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/majority-of-new-yorkers-support-trumps-mass-deportation-policy-poll" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shows</a>.
Of those, a total of 662,586, just around 8.6%, have been convicted of crimes or have charges pending, according to ICE data through July 21.
Homan said he is confident illegal immigration will decline once enforcement goes up.
“They’re going to try to come illegally, but once the message is clear that we’re ending catch-and-release, the numbers will reduce,” Homan said.
