Farm groups filed a lawsuit against Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, a Democrat, after he hired an environmental prosecutor paid by outside funds.
The <a href="https://www.wpr.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/2025.02.20-004-Complaint.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">complaint</a>, posted by Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR), states that Kaul hired Karen Heineman last year as a special assistant attorney general to focus on prosecuting people and businesses violating the Badger State’s environmental regulations. Heineman’s position, however, is funded through the State Energy and Environmental Impact Center at New York University Law School, which was started in 2017 with a $5.6 million grant from Michael Bloomberg’s nonprofit.
Bloomberg is a climate activist and former mayor of New York City.
The aim of the State Energy and Environmental Impact Center was to hire lawyers in blue states to push back against President Donald Trump’s deregulations in his first term, and the center is still funding these attorneys now.
The current lawsuit against the Wisconsin AG was filed by the Wisconsin Dairy Alliance, Venture Dairy Cooperative, and Lane Ruhland, a lawyer who has worked for Republicans in the past.
Kim Bremmer, executive director of the Venture Dairy Cooperative, told WPR that it was unconstitutional and unlawful for the state Department of Justice to have an agreement with the State Energy and Environmental Impact Center, saying it denies due process and equal protection.
“If anyone could just privately fund an assistant attorney general position, then we all should be doing it,” Bremmer told the outlet.
Earlier this month, Republicans in Wisconsin proposed a bill that would prevent Kaul from hiring staff members using outside funds, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/2025/02/06/republicans-look-to-bar-doj-employees-funded-by-outside-organizations/78255090007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
&#8220;Allowing out-of-state billionaires to instigate or control investigations or prosecutions of Wisconsinites is unacceptable,&#8221; Republicans wrote in a memo about the bill. &#8220;The Attorney General&#8217;s duty is to represent and serve the people of Wisconsin, not to accommodate the bidding and agenda of out-of-state billionaire partisan activists who buy their way into our DOJ offices.&#8221;
“I’m proud of the work the Wisconsin Department of Justice does to protect clean air and clean drinking water,” Kaul said in a statement to WPR. “With the harm that pollution causes in many communities across the state, better resourcing the enforcement of our environmental laws shouldn’t be controversial.”
Bremmer, however, told WPR that the “desirable outcome would be that this is ruled unconstitutional” so that this sort of funding scheme “doesn’t happen in the future … to try to keep as many agendas out of the DOJ as possible.”
The lawsuit aims to require Wisconsin’s Department of Justice to terminate its agreement with the SEEIC, eliminate any special assistant attorney general positions, and prohibit future arrangements to fund prosecutors this way.
Wisconsin is not the only state to fund leftist prosecutors through the State Energy and Environmental Impact Center. The <a href="https://stateimpactcenter.org/about/fellows-program/apply" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> currently lists funded positions available in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Minnesota, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Connecticut.  The website also previously noted that it funds attorneys in the AG offices of numerous states, including Delaware, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Washington, D.C. – all states with Democrat control.
In a statement to The Daily Wire, SEEIC energy director Jessica Bell insisted that while the organization pays the attorney&#8217;s salaries, &#8220;the fellows’ sole duty of loyalty is to the attorney general in whose office they serve.&#8221;
&#8220;All work performed by the fellows is entirely identified and managed by the respective government official,&#8221; she added.
Republicans have raised concerns about the Bloomberg-funded initiative for years, with former West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bloomberg-network-climate-lawyers-ag" target="_blank" rel="noopener">telling</a> Fox News in 2020 that this was “a fundamental question of ethics and who&#8217;s running our government.”
&#8220;When you actually get to place someone in under a specific agenda and then pay them and they’re within the office, that starts to call into question whether there are multiple masters within an attorney general office and that starts to really stink,” Morrisey said at the time.

Billionaire Michael Bloomberg, the founder of the eponymous media company, endorsed President Joe Biden on Thursday and gave Biden&#8217;s re-election effort a $20 million boost.
Bloomberg donated $19 million to the independent, pro-Biden PAC &#8220;Future Forward&#8221; and nearly $1 million more to the Biden Victory Fund, which is a combination of the Biden campaign and Democratic Party Committees, The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/06/20/mike-bloomberg-biden-20-million-donation-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Asked by the Post about his massive donations to Biden, Bloomberg formally endorsed the president&#8217;s re-election campaign against Republican Donald Trump.
“I stood with Joe Biden in 2020, and I am proud to do so again,” Bloomberg said.
Future Forward PAC President Chauncey McLean thanked Bloomberg for supporting Biden&#8217;s re-election.
&#8220;Michael Bloomberg was a strong supporter of President Biden in 2020 and, now, again in 2024, and we are very grateful for his support,” McLean said. “Voters respond when they hear the story about President Biden looking out for them while Donald Trump just looks out for himself. Because of Michael Bloomberg’s support, we’ll be more successful in making sure people understand the choice in this election.&#8221;
Bloomberg switched from Democrat to Republican to run for New York City mayor in 2001. He won the campaign and then served as mayor until the end of 2013. The billionaire <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/10/nyregion/michael-bloomberg-democrat-president.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">switched</a> back to the Democratic Party shortly after Trump was sworn into office. Bloomberg, who boasts a net worth of $106 billion, ran for president as a Democrat against Biden in 2020 before he dropped out and supported Biden&#8217;s campaign against Trump.
Last month, Biden <a href="https://hub.jhu.edu/2024/05/03/michael-bloomberg-presidential-medal-of-freedom/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">honored</a> Bloomberg with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation&#8217;s highest civilian honor.
“He’s changed us. He’s challenged us, as well, to solve the toughest challenges from gun violence to climate change,” Biden said of Bloomberg. “Michael, thank you, Mr. Mayor. Thank you for a career of service.”

Bloomberg blasted Trump in 2020 and swore he would &#8220;defeat&#8221; him.

The former NYC mayor&#8217;s post attacking Trump was in response to a <a href="https://x.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1227946304057364481" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweet</a> from the then-president, who dubbed Bloomberg &#8220;mini Mike&#8221; for his shorter-than-average height and called him &#8220;a mass of dead energy.&#8221;
In the 2020 election campaign, Bloomberg also spent $100 million in Florida in an effort to help Biden win the state. That effort fell short as Trump won Florida by more than three percentage points.

Kentucky voters will vote next week on whether to amend the state constitution to clarify that nothing in the constitution guarantees abortion access. The measure is being pushed by conservatives to ensure that judges cannot rule that there is an implied constitutional right to abortion that prevents lawmakers from passing pro-life laws.
While Kentucky is a deep-red state, a pro-life amendment <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-life-amendment-in-kansas-was-first-abortion-test-since-roe-v-wade-overturned-heres-how-it-fared" target="_blank" rel="noopener">failed in red Kansas</a> this year following an opposition campaign <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/08/18/what-kansas-abortion-rights-win-means-kentucky/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">led</a> by a former Planned Parenthood lobbyist named Rachel Sweet. That means the Kentucky measure could fail too — not only because amending the state&#8217;s constitution is designed to be difficult, but because Sweet is also running a $5 million opposition effort in the state.
A Daily Wire review of the social media accounts of three field staffers who are listed as working for Sweet in Protect Kentucky Access’s (PKA) <a href="https://secure.kentucky.gov/kref/publicsearch/OrganizationalSearch/OrganizationDetails/185205" target="_blank" rel="noopener">campaign finance filings,</a> however, raises questions about whether they represent mainstream Kentuckians.
One of the staffers, Allison Sack, shared a story on Instagram that included a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17922093332536205/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> from The Satanic Temple. “The Satanic Temple is the leading beacon of light in the battle for abortion access,” the Temple&#8217;s caption said. She shared another meme in the same story lamenting &#8220;when it&#8217;s been 8 whole months and Joe Biden still hasn&#8217;t done a socialism like Fox promised.&#8221;

The Party for Socialism and Liberation calls for &#8220;a revolution that ends the rule of the capitalist class,&#8221; explaining that this &#8220;will open the way to communism and the end of class society.&#8221; After the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade, it called to &#8220;abolish the Supreme Court&#8221; because it &#8220;serves to defend the exploitative and oppressive system of capitalism.&#8221;

Until September, PKA also listed another field staffer, Amira Bryant. According to local news station <a href="https://www.wdrb.com/news/protesters-arrested-blocking-louisville-streets-charged-with-rioting-punching-officer/article_78d69e5c-b190-11ea-aa92-4b158459d734.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WDRB</a>, she was one of 17 people arrested in June 2020 following &#8220;morning protests near Jefferson Square [that] have turned violent several times this week with people blocking roadways, threatening drivers and confronting police.&#8221; One man was charged with inciting a riot, and another with wanton endangerment of a police officer after he allegedly drove &#8220;at a high rate of speed directly at a line of at least 30 officers.&#8221;
On social media, Bryant <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=4094860393897841&amp;set=pb.100001217639211.-2207520000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shared</a> an idea for defunding police that would redirect the police budget to &#8220;injection sites&#8221; and &#8220;peer &#8216;walking counselors,'&#8221; and <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=4051375631579651&amp;set=pb.100001217639211.-2207520000">posted</a> a photo of someone carrying a sign that said &#8220;LMPD, suck my d&#8212;.&#8221; The radio show that she hosts <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=932630967412367&amp;set=pb.100068673093388.-2207520000">advertised</a> a &#8220;&#8216;Cum&#8217; spit Erotic Poetry Slam&#8221; and an <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=906744370001027&amp;set=pb.100068673093388.-2207520000">event</a> where &#8220;Dranks&#8221; were sold including &#8220;Amira&#8217;s booty&#8221; for $10 and &#8220;sweet titty sweat&#8221; for $1.
Protect Kentucky Access did not return a request for comment from The Daily Wire.
Since September 30, PKA has spent $2.3 million on media buys, $412,000 on direct mail, $384,000 on digital advertising, and $17,000 on salaries, according to campaign finance records.
Of its $5.3 million in funding, the group has received $1.2 million from Planned Parenthood affiliates, $1 million from the Advocacy Action Fund, $550,000 from the Sixteen Thirty Fund, $250,000 from Michael Bloomberg, and $64,000 from the ACLU of Kentucky.

Michael Bloomberg issued a stark warning for Democrats as the 2022 midterms approach, telling them that the recent San Francisco school board recall is a bellwether for the fall elections.
In an editorial for <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-02-22/san-francisco-school-board-recall-is-a-sign-for-the-democratic-party">Bloomberg News</a>, the former mayor of New York City, 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, and Democratic megadonor warned that the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/revolt-against-progressive-agenda-san-francisco-voters-recall-three-school-board-members">recall</a> of three members of the San Francisco Board of Education pointed to a broader trend across the country. Without a major course correction, the Democrats would be headed for an electoral wipeout, Bloomberg argued.
&#8220;The political earthquake that just occurred in San Francisco should be a dire warning to the national Democratic Party, because the same fault line stretches across the country and the tremors are only increasing,&#8221; Bloomberg began. &#8220;Three months after Republicans scored major election upsets in Virginia and New Jersey, largely because of the frustration parents felt with Democratic officials who catered to teachers’ unions and culture warriors at the expense of children, voters in San Francisco recalled three school board members by margins of nearly three to one. Coming from America’s most liberal city, those results should translate into a 7 to 8 on the Richter scale, because the three main factors that drove the recall are not unique to the Bay Area.&#8221;
&#8220;First, the school board members failed to show any urgency in reopening schools even when it was clear that doing so was safe — and that remote classes were leaving students further and further behind.&#8221; Bloomberg wrote. &#8220;Nothing has widened social achievement gaps more than poorly conceived remote instruction. Parents know this, and Democratic elected officials need to show them that they know it, too.&#8221; 
The Daily Wire previously reported that issues related to school lockdowns have contributed to declines in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/schools-experience-low-attendance-across-the-country">school attendance</a> among students. Graduation rates in at least 20 U.S. states <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-number-of-high-school-graduations-stalled-or-even-dropped-in-2021-because-of-covid-19">stalled or even dropped</a> in 2021. School lockdowns have had the greatest impact on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/school-shutdowns-hurt-low-income-minority-kids-the-most">low-income and minority students</a>. According to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle, “Black and Latino students were also more likely to be absent at least 60% of the time during the fall semester.” In <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/following-covid-4-in-10-baltimore-public-high-students-earned-below-a-1-0-gpa">Baltimore</a>, more than 4 in 10 public high school students achieved less than a 1.0 GPA during the 2020-2021 school year.
&#8220;Second, the school board members seemed more concerned with political correctness than educating children,&#8221; Bloomberg wrote. &#8220;Instead of reopening schools, they spent their time <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/san-franciscos-woke-school-board-may-decide-against-renaming-racist-schools">renaming them</a>, stripping off the names of historic figures like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln before a public outcry forced them to reverse course. Meanwhile, parents struggled to keep their heads above water as they tried to manage <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/schools-across-u-s-facing-class-cancellations-critical-staff-shortages">having their children at home</a>. The city’s Democratic mayor, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/san-francisco-mayor-admits-we-failed-our-children-after-school-board-recall">London Breed</a>, rightly criticized the board for having its priorities backward.&#8221;

Former staffers for Mike Bloomberg’s short-lived presidential campaign have been shocked to find out that their tax bills are much higher than they anticipated, with their income listed tens of thousands of dollars more than their previous salaries.
Politico <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2021/02/23/bloomberg-aides-2020-tax-471109">reported</a> Tuesday that former aides have started receiving their tax forms, which list higher incomes due to paid housing and other benefits they received while working for the failed presidential campaign.
“In interviews, former Bloomberg aides said they were stunned by the high amounts, examples of which were reviewed by POLITICO. One staffer was shown to have been compensated more than $50,000 than they earned. In another case, a former staffer’s gross amount was about $25,000 more. Others had incomes that were in the range of $10,000 more than what they were paid,” Politico reported.
Representatives for the Bloomberg campaign reportedly told the former aides that these additional taxes they’re told they owe were already paid for by the campaign.
“A Bloomberg campaign spokesman told POLITICO that the aides were paid more during the campaign to account for the higher tax burden, though not all of the ex-aides said they were aware of the arrangement at the time. The spokesman added that Bloomberg’s accountants had no choice but to lump fringe benefits in with the salaries given their interpretation of tax law,” Politico reported.
The staffers told the outlet that the inflated incomes may keep them from receiving Obamacare subsidies, student loan debt forgiveness, coronavirus stimulus checks, or unemployment.
This is just the latest controversy surrounding the former mayor of New York City’s presidential campaign, which lasted just 104 days despite spending more than $1 billion. For that, Bloomberg ended up with just 46 pledged delegates, winning only America Samoa. During that time, Politico previously <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/20/bloomberg-1-billion-104-day-campaign-197216">reported</a>, “Bloomberg’s campaign paid out $23.3 million in salary, fringe benefits and payroll taxes and fees in March alone, according to the campaign finance filing.”
“However, the billionaire also left many former staffers furious by cutting them loose last month. Bloomberg’s campaign enticed Democratic operatives across the country with promises of a paying job through the November election, regardless of whether he ultimately won the nomination or not,” Politico continued. “But Bloomberg reneged on that promise, <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/20/bloomberg-campaign-layoffs-coronavirus-139362">scrapping plans to form</a> his own super PAC and eventually <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/20/mike-bloomberg-massive-18m-transfer-dnc-138771">transferring $18 million</a> to the Democratic National Committee instead to bolster the party committee’s field program. Staffers who wanted to work at the DNC had to reapply for jobs, with some staffers getting paid through the first week in April and getting full benefits through the end of the month, according to a release at the time.”
As The Daily Wire’s Emily Zanotti previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-campaign-workers-sue-michael-bloomberg-claim-they-were-defrauded">reported</a>, former Bloomberg campaign staffers filed a lawsuit against the former mayor for reneging on that promise. The staffers claim Bloomberg defrauded them by promising them jobs through November and then firing them after he suspended his campaign.
“While we considered creating our own independent entity to support the nominee and hold the President accountable, this race is too important to have many competing groups with good intentions but that are not coordinated and united in strategy and execution,” the campaign said in a statement at the time. “The dynamics of the race have also fundamentally changed, and it is critically important that we all do everything we can to support our eventual nominee and scale the Democratic Party’s general election efforts.”

The biggest loser in all of 2020 won’t be whichever presidential candidate fails to win the Electoral College. No, the biggest loser in 2020 has already been determined to be former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
In the weeks leading up to the election, Bloomberg announced that he would be spending $100 million to ensure Florida voted for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. As The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bloomberg-vows-to-spend-100-million-in-florida-to-beat-trump">reported</a>, Bloomberg said in mid-September that the buy was due to tightening polls in the Sunshine State.
Bloomberg’s money was spent on digital and TV ads and “communicating with Hispanic voters will be a key part” of the strategy, according to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/bloomberg-money-florida-biden/2020/09/12/af51bb50-f511-11ea-bc45-e5d48ab44b9f_story.html">a press release</a> from Bloomberg’s Independence USA political committee issued to The Washington Post at the time.
“The infusion of cash comes as polls indicate a tightening of the race between Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden, who are deadlocked in a recent <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/08/poll-trump-biden-florida-410021">Marist Poll</a>, and as Floridians start voting by mail at the end of the month,” Politico reported at the time. “Biden’s support among Hispanic voters is in double digits yet remains relatively low for a Democrat who wants to carry the state according to surveys of Latinos in <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/04/joe-biden-florida-hispanic-voters-poll-408711">Florida</a> and <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/08/trump-miami-florida-support-410362">Miami</a>.”
Florida was called for President Donald Trump on election night. With 96% of the votes counted, Trump won the state by 3.4 points. The RealClearPolitics polling average heading into the election had Biden up by 0.9 points, with just three out of four late-election polls showing Trump with a lead. Quinnipiac University’s poll, conducted in the days just before the election, showed Biden up five points.
Just a week before the election, Bloomberg made a last-minute ad by in Texas and Ohio on behalf of Biden, citing internal polls showing those states were within reach as well. The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bloomberg-makes-last-minute-ad-buy-in-texas-ohio-on-behalf-of-biden">reported</a> at the time that Bloomberg was sinking another $15 million into the two states to purchase ads supporting Biden, including Spanish-language ads in Texas.

The team presented Mr. Bloomberg with the numbers on Monday morning and he gave the go-ahead.”
Trump won Ohio by eight points and Texas by six.
We also can’t forget that Bloomberg spent nearly $1 billion on his own failed 100-day presidential campaign earlier this year. CNBC <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/11/04/bloomberg-sees-losses-after-spending-over-100-million-in-florida-ohio-texas.html?__source=sharebar|twitter&amp;par=sharebar">suggested</a> these failures may “impact his involvement in the upcoming New York mayoral race.”

The last-minute advertising amounts to $15 million &#8212; a fraction of what Bloomberg is spending in Florida to support Biden &#8212; and represents internal polling suggesting President Donald Trump is vulnerable in the two states, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/27/us/politics/bloomberg-ads-texas-ohio.html">reported</a>.

Bloomberg plans to focus on Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic when purchasing television ads in Ohio and Texas. In Texas, Spanish-language ads will run.
Biden has repeatedly knocked Trump for his handling of the coronavirus, but he has not said what he would have done differently. The plan he has put out contains everything the Trump administration is already doing.
As The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bloomberg-vows-to-spend-100-million-in-florida-to-beat-trump">reported</a>, Bloomberg in September vowed to spend $100 million in Florida to defeat Trump.
Bloomberg’s money was welcomed by the Democratic Party, even though some high-profile politicians have denounced the billionaire’s funding in the past. During the Democratic Primary, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who was running against Bloomberg at the time, accused the former mayor of trying to buy the presidential election, Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-warren/democrat-warren-accuses-rival-bloomberg-of-trying-to-buy-u-s-presidential-election-idUSKBN1XZ2G0">reported</a>.
“Michael Bloomberg is making a bet about democracy in 2020. He doesn’t need people, he only needs bags and bags of money. I think Michael Bloomberg is wrong,” Warren said.
“That’s exactly what’s now in play in 2020 — which vision, which version of our democracy is going to win. If Michael Bloomberg’s version of democracy wins then democracy changes. It’s going to be which billionaire you can stomach,” she added.
Bloomberg spent around $1 billion on his own 100-day failed presidential campaign, but his internal polling and money has helped other candidates in the past. In 2018, Bloomberg’s polling showed then-Democratic congressional nominee Kendra Horn in a competitive race in Oklahoma City. Bloomberg spent thousands of dollars on advertising and Horn won the district.

Bloomberg ended his presidential campaign on March 4 after spending more than $1 billion in the failed effort to earn the Democrat nomination for president.
Politico <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/20/bloomberg-1-billion-104-day-campaign-197216">reported</a> that after Bloomberg reneged on his promise to pay staffers through November that he eventually transferred &#8220;$18 million to the Democratic National Committee instead to bolster the party committee’s field program.&#8221;
&#8220;The big transfer to the DNC also pushed the boundaries of a campaign finance law and sparked a FEC complaint from Republicans,&#8221; Politico added. &#8220;As a regular citizen, Bloomberg would not be able to donate such a massive sum to the DNC or any other groups that have campaign finance limits. But presidential campaigns can transfer unlimited amounts to their national party committee — and a DNC lawyer argued that the transfer was in the clear because Bloomberg donated the money to his presidential campaign while he was still running, which then gave the money to the DNC after he dropped out.&#8221;

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg spent about $1 billion on his own 100-day presidential campaign, and has promised to put his vast fortune to use unseating President Donald Trump in November.
The problem, however, is that some Democrats are wondering where Bloomberg’s money is, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dems-say-bloomberg-not-helping-2020-campaign-as-much-as-promised-report">reported</a>. Bloomberg repeatedly promised to use his money to help Democrats win in November.
“Mike Bloomberg is either going to be the nominee or the most important person supporting the Democratic nominee for president,” Bloomberg’s campaign manager Kevin Sheekey told <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/bloomberg-fund-sizable-campaign-effort-through-november-even-if-he-n1113421">NBC News</a> earlier this year. “He is dedicated to getting Trump out of the White House.”
Bloomberg burned through money during his embarrassingly short run for president, which netted him just 55 pledged delegates, The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/final-numbers-show-michael-bloomberg-actually-spent-more-than-1-billion-on-his-failed-presidential-bid">reported</a>. He then made numerous promises that have so far gone unfulfilled, such as paying staffers through November with full health benefits even if he dropped out. Bloomberg dropped that promise shortly after announcing he would no longer seek the presidency.
As Fox reported, many Democrats “were under the impression that, after Bloomberg exited the presidential race, he would keep his massive campaign apparatus filled with experienced political operatives and simply change the name on the signs to whoever the eventual nominee was, while also helping out down the ballot.”
That didn’t happen, though Bloomberg did give the largest transfer between political committees ever recorded – $18 million. As Fox noted, however, that wouldn’t be enough to hurt Trump’s chances.
President Barack Obama’s former campaign manager Jim Messina <a href="https://www.npr.org/2020/07/29/896545732/bloomberg-vowed-to-spend-whatever-it-takes-to-beat-trump-dems-are-still-waiting?utm_source=dlvr.it&amp;utm_medium=twitter">told NPR</a> that he interpreted Bloomberg’s pledge to defeat Trump to mean helping Democrats other than himself if he didn’t get the nomination.
&#8220;It meant spending about a billion dollars,&#8221; Messina told the outlet. &#8220;It meant making sure that Donald Trump did not have the typical incumbent advantage on finance, and it meant helping us catch up in a couple places where Trump was well ahead of us, which was digital and data.&#8221;
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, however, said Bloomberg intends to follow through on his promise, and that it’s not about a specific amount of money. NPR reported that Bloomberg has given $350 million to Democrats in the 2020 election, including:

<blockquote>$35 million for a digital and data platform he gives to Democratic campaigns at cost.</blockquote>

</li>
<li>
<blockquote>$10 million to House Majority PAC, the lead outside group backing House Democrats.</blockquote>
</li>
<li>
<blockquote>$5 million to Fair Fight, the voting rights group led by Stacey Abrams.</blockquote>
</li>
<li>
<blockquote>$2 million to Collective Future, focused on registering Black voters in key states.</blockquote>
</li>
<li>
<blockquote>$2 million to Swing Left, which supports Democratic volunteer efforts.</blockquote>
</li>
<li>
<blockquote>$500,000 to Voto Latino, focused on registering young Latino and Hispanic voters.</blockquote>
</li>
</ul>
As one can see, the vast majority of the money was spent during his own campaign in an effort to boost himself.
