The Met Gala will no longer feature designer John Galliano during its spring 2027 exhibition event following major backlash to the Met&#8217;s decision to honor the antisemite.
Galliano rose to fame as the head designer for Dior from 1996 until 2011. That came crashing down when he was caught on video hurling antisemitic slurs at customers in a Paris cafe in 2010. During the tirade, he praised Hitler and told other cafe patrons that their ancestors should have been gassed, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/notorious-antisemite-to-be-honored-by-met-gala-after-jewish-leaders-sign-off">reported</a>.
Galliano issued a lengthy <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DctHgVHtnCb/?hl=en">statement</a> on Monday explaining his decision to withdraw from the Met Gala, noting how he was “profoundly grateful” to the institution and for the opportunity. 
“After much reflection and discussion with The Met and all those involved, I have decided, with great sadness, that it is best for the exhibition not to take place at this time. I remain fully accountable for the pain caused by my words in the past, particularly the hurt I caused to the Jewish and Asian communities, and I remain deeply sorry for it. I understand that meaningful atonement is not achieved through an exhibition, institutional recognition or a single public gesture. It is a continuing responsibility, demonstrated through listening, learning and one’s conduct over time,” he said.
“I do not want the debate surrounding me to place The Met in a difficult position or to distract from the remarkable work of the Costume Institute. I also recognize and respect that an exhibition honoring my work would be painful for some,” Galliano continued.
The drama began on July 31 when it was announced that the spring exhibit would be titled “John Galliano: Horizons.” This was the third time a living designer was planned to be the focus of the show.

Dana Thomas, author of the book “Gods and Kings: The Rise and Fall of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano,” wrote in an op-ed for The New York Times that choosing Galliano as the honoree was a “very bad mistake.”
“The Met is attempting to tackle questions regarding cultural memory, accountability, rehabilitation and reputation. In the process, it is asserting the ability of powerful cultural institutions to decide when achievements of talent outweigh failures of morality,” she wrote at the time.
Thomas noted that the drunken tirade was not a one-time event, and said Galliano was known for saying terrible things for the entirety of his career.

Last week, however, The New York Times published a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/31/style/met-gala-costume-institute-john-galliano.html">report</a> stating that Wintour, Galliano, and Andrew Bolton, the curator in charge of the Met’s Costume Institute, have been meeting with “influential rabbis and Jewish leaders” over the past year. Their goal was “to get their thoughts on the potential issues with next year’s planned fashion extravaganza — a show dedicated to Galliano’s work — and perhaps their blessing for it.”
Per the Times, the Jewish leaders have decided to accept Galliano’s apology and give their approval to have him be the 2027 Met Gala honoree. 
“The fear clearly was the show could be met with a lot of resistance — not just skepticism, but a feeling of it’s wrong,” Rabbi Rick Jacobs, president of the Union for Reform Judaism in North America, said. Rabbi Jacobs said Galliano’s overall demeanor is part of what convinced him. 
“The word I come back to is ‘sincerity,’” he said. “[Galliano] was open. He looked right at us and spoke in a clear way, not as if he had memorized talking points.”
Jonathan Greenblatt, chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League, said in a comment to the Times: “We believe John Galliano has genuinely worked through the issues that led to his antisemitic outburst years ago in Paris, and we have long since accepted his apology. His efforts to repair the damage his words caused and to learn from that incident should be applauded.”
Even if Wintour is trying to push negative press and reinstate Galliano to his former glory, not everyone is on board. The Times just published an <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/06/opinion/met-gala-galliano-antisemitism.html">op-ed</a> by Dana Thomas, author of the book “Gods and Kings: The Rise and Fall of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.” She argued that choosing Galliano as the honoree was a “very bad mistake.”

Fashion’s most spectacular event returned. Anyone who is apparently someone gathered in Manhattan for the Met Gala.  And I know what you’re thinking: “Sorry, Klavan, what were you saying? I dozed off after the word spectacular. One moment, I was listening to you blather about fashion, then suddenly I was walking through a sky-blue emptiness decorated entirely with pictures of my mother, and mysterious voices were revealing all my secret sexual fantasies so that suddenly I started screaming, ‘Just a minute, this isn’t heaven, this is the other place!’ Then I woke up, and you were talking about celebrities or something. So what the hell is going on?”
Alright, that may not be exactly what you were thinking. In fact, maybe that’s what I was thinking. Or maybe that was reality, and this is the nightmare, in which case, let’s get back to the Met Gala.
Every year, rich people who seem to think highly of themselves for no discernible reason gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to desecrate its wonderful art collection by dressing up like idiots and then posing and flouncing around for the cameras like idiots who are also pansies but still idiots. These are the individuals whose fabulous glamor holds our cultural elites in fascinated thrall, while the rest of us are watching Shane Gillis because at least he has some talent, so we know why we’re looking at him.
But, of course, the Met Gala’s biggest attraction is the amazing outfits that show off how God gifted these women with beauty and these men with homosexuality. Famous designers go to the absolute limits of their lack of talent to create dresses for women who have absolutely everything except the simple dignity to cover themselves when they go outside lest they be exposed as narcissistic exhibitionists with nothing to contribute to society besides an inappropriate glimpse of their supposed-to-be-private parts. This year’s prize for the least amount of modesty went to Kylie Jenner, who simply sent her bare breasts to the gala while the rest of her stayed home watching “Temptation Island” with a Budweiser Select 55 and a bucket of wings.
Madonna arrived shrouded in black as if she were dead. Which really wasn’t all that shocking, until the EMTs showed up to carry her out to the hearse and she started shrieking, &#8220;Wait, wait, I’m still alive,&#8221; which surprised everyone. Doctors examined Madonna and declared that, yes, she was still alive, so only her career should be buried.
Sarah Paulson, who is very famous for I have no idea what, bought her $100,000 ticket out of her $12 million net worth in order to wear a dollar bill mask to protest wealthy people by dramatizing the fact that money is blind. Paulson made a dramatic entrance until she walked forehead first into a low-hanging water pipe, reeled backward and smashed into a wall, then stumbled to the very brink of a descending stairway and murmured, &#8220;Maybe I should’ve put some eye-holes in this dollar mask,&#8221; before she tried to walk away but instead somersaulted down the stairs into the museum’s Egyptian wing, where she had a flirtatious chat with a man who’d been dead for three and a half thousand years.

Singer Stevie Nicks was also there. Nicks recently revealed she was glad she had had an abortion, because if she’d let her child live, there would have been no Fleetwood Mac. Nicks wore an outfit with a large empty space in the middle to show where her soul used to be.
Cultural elites were also delighted to see their new favorite celebrity, White House Correspondents&#8217; Dinner attacker Cole Tomas Allen. Allen, wearing an elegant orange jumpsuit, was released from jail to attend the Met Gala after DEI Judge Zia Faruqui apologized for having him locked up when all he’d done was try to shoot the president, and let’s face it, who hasn’t at this point?
All in all, the fashion spectacular was a sparkling and glamorous reminder that even the mightiest nations ultimately succumb to corruption and produce an elite class so useless and perverse, it drags a civilization that was the labor of centuries into a hellish oblivion. But at least they dress badly.

Actress Sarah Paulson <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-met-galas-dumbest-political-stunts">stepped</a> onto the Met Gala carpet on the traditional first Monday of May wearing an oversized U.S. dollar eye mask with holes poked into it so she could see if we got her tone-deaf smoke signal. As cult-favorite designer Matières Fécales described it on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DX8EF__gk3q/?img_index=2">Instagram</a>: “She is wearing the ‘Blinded by Money’ leather mask and the Destroyed Tulle Debutante Ballgown … A reflection of the greed and corruption that comes with extreme power.”
So, whose greed and corrupt power was being reflected? Paulson’s? Was she blinded by her own oversized dollar? Let’s just say, the message didn’t quite have the intended effect.
“The only way to deliver this statement earnestly would be by not going,” posted one <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DX8EF__gk3q/?img_index=2">commenter</a> about Paulson’s rebellion against an event she probably had marked on her calendar for a year and paid <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-much-met-gala-ticket-2026/">$100,000</a> to attend. 
“This is literally the Capitol from ‘The Hunger Games,’” posted one <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DX7-TlDiNT9/?img_index=4">Instagram</a> user, with others suggesting a guillotine might have added that special something.

Showing up in an $8,000 look from a designer whose name translates to “fecal matter” sure set the tone for the rest of the night, as <a href="https://translate.google.com/?hl=en&amp;sl=auto&amp;tl=fr&amp;text=fecal%20matter&amp;op=translate">matière fécale</a> hit the fan in style.
With a few friends or a corporate card, you could reserve a table for <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-much-met-gala-ticket-2026/">$350,000</a>. Maybe fashion houses used to pick up that kind of tab during the Gala’s golden era, but in 2026, with Amazon, Spotify, Meta, OpenAI, and Snapchat shelling out for the best seats, the Met Gala bested last year’s $31 million haul, raking in a record <a href="https://fortune.com/2026/05/05/met-gala-record-42-million-silicon-valley-jeff-bezos/">$42 million</a>. 
Clearly, <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/05/04/lifestyle/met-gala-urine-bottle-protest-targets-jeff-bezos/?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_medium=social">bottles of fake “urine”</a> hidden inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art ahead of the event, alerting Met staffers to the alleged working conditions of Amazon delivery drivers, where workers are forced to use empty water bottles in lieu of breaks, did nothing to sway revelers.
As stunt perpetrator Everyone Hates Elon posted to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DX1iP3CCLL-/?img_index=1">Instagram</a>, “Jeff Bezos&#8217; company Amazon is literally being sued for forcing workers to urinate in bottles. Amazon avoids MILLIONS in tax and Bezos is one of the world&#8217;s richest men. The Met Museum is taking the P*SS by having Jeff honored as their Gala host.”
Moving on from bathroom topics, the dress code for the night was “Fashion As Art,” which was interpreted like a game of telephone where nothing made sense by the end. Some seemingly tried to pull off tributes to <a href="https://x.com/ModernGurlzz/status/2051504522841710620/photo/1">actual works</a> of fine art (Apologies to Georges Seurat, Jackson Pollock, Gustav Klimt, et al.), but others took inspiration from left field. 
<a href="https://variety.com/2026/music/news/bad-bunny-met-gala-old-man-1236737691/">Bad Bunny</a> transformed into a wrinkly, sun-spotted elderly man with a cane. <a href="https://www.eonline.com/news/1431643/met-gala-2026-cardi-b-has-fever-reveals-shes-sick">Cardi B</a> arrived in an awkwardly lumpy Marc Jacobs look; she should probably get checked out by a doctor. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reels/DX7s8aZhEjt/">Lena Dunham</a> looked as “Famesick” as her latest memoir in blood-red, feathered <a href="https://people.com/lena-dunham-sparkles-over-the-top-sequin-dress-met-gala-2026-11966511">Valentino</a>. 
Simulated nudity was “art” for everyone from <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DX9qxRgDfJb/?img_index=5">Kendall</a> and Kylie Jenner, whose matching bodices boasted prosthetic nipples, to <a href="https://www.elle.com/fashion/celebrity-style/a71204460/best-naked-dresses-met-gala-2026-photos/">Kim Kardashian</a> in an orange fembot look and Hailey Bieber with a gilded torso. Naked-look dresses were strategically worn by Gigi Hadid, Zoë Kravitz, and Irina Shayk. Celebrated trans model Alex Consani just showed his actual nipples in a see-through corset.
Don’t forget about the alleged abusers flitting about. Katy Perry may have been dressed like she’s qualifying in astronaut fencing for the next Olympics, but her all-white <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/katy-perry-met-gala-2026-stella-mccartney#:~:text=This%20year's%20%E2%80%9CCostume%20Art%E2%80%9D%20theme,representative%20for%20Perry%20told%20Vogue.">Stella McCartney</a> was stained by recent <a href="https://www.complex.com/style/a/abel-shifferaw/katy-perry-astronaut-mask-met-gala-2026">assault accusations by Ruby Rose</a>. All of us rolled our eyes at <a href="https://pagesix.com/2026/05/05/celebrity-news/blake-livelys-met-gala-2026-entourage-post-justin-baldoni-settlement-included-her-family-member/">Blake Lively</a> showing up in frothy sherbet Versace without a care in the world — the same day she settled her attempted two-year-long legal takedown of Justin Baldoni. 
Per Met Gala rules, <a href="https://www.eonline.com/news/1431657/met-gala-2026-how-beyonce-nicole-kidman-broke-rules-brought-daughters">guests must be 18</a> to walk the carpet. You could frame Beyoncé’s 14-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and Nicole Kidman’s 17-year-old daughter Sunday Rose tagging along with their moms like a dress-up version of Bring Your Daughter to Work Day. But just like they say, “<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nothing_Good_Happens_After_2_A.M.#:~:text=Nothing%20Good%20Happens%20After%202,to%20you%2C%20please%20give%20today.">nothing good happens after 2 a.m.</a>,” nothing good happens when you’re hanging around <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reels/DX7zFNupFsm/">Sam Smith</a> looking like “<a href="https://genius.com/Sam-smith-and-kim-petras-unholy-lyrics">something unholy</a>” in Christian Cowan.

The disabled body. The pregnant body. The Met Gala is always a ridiculous spectacle, but this year may have taken the cake as the absolute worst of the worst.
The theme this year was “Costume Art,” and the dress code was “Fashion is Art.”
Observers noted that one red carpet attendee was being touted with a title that sounded like a “South Park” parody, but instead was 100% real. Aariana Rose Philip arrived and was described as “a black transgender disabled model with quadriplegic cerebral palsy.”
“When people see my mannequin, I want them to see a beautiful, sexy lady,” Philip <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/aariana-rose-philip-2026-met-gala">told</a> Vogue ahead of the event. “I want them to see a supermodel and a legend. I want them to see that disabled and black trans people matter always, and that we should’ve been in these spaces for a long time.”

Actress Sarah Paulson is also being criticized for her $1 bill mask, which is supposed to be a criticism of “the 1%.” Her stunt was seen as especially hypocritical considering Paulson’s <a href="https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/actors/sarah-paulson-net-worth/">estimated</a> $12 million net worth.
Even the libs were annoyed by the “American Horror Story” actress’s stunt, with many noting how it cost about $75,000 just to attend the fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

She wore a white dress and a blindfold inspired by the painting &#8220;The Execution of Lady Jane Grey&#8221; by Paul Delaroche. Leftists were annoyed that the Met Gala was sponsored by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, but many pointed out that the richest celebrities in the world had no right to call out Bezos for his massive wealth. 
Hundreds of “piss bottles” filled with fake urine were distributed throughout the Met by the British political activist group Everyone Hates Elon. The move sought to highlight allegations that Amazon employees don’t receive adequate bathroom breaks.
“Jeff Bezos’s company Amazon is literally being sued for forcing workers to urinate in bottles,” the group <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DX1iP3CCLL-/?img_index=1">shared</a> on Instagram. “Amazon avoids MILLIONS in tax and Bezos is one of the world&#8217;s richest men. The Met Museum is taking the PISS by having Jeff honoured as their Gala host. When they celebrate Trump’s billionaires, let’s ridicule them instead.”

In an Instagram Story post on Wednesday, the 34-year-old author shared a photo of her mom Maria Shriver wearing a beautiful gown at the annual fundraiser in 2001. She captioned it, “When the Met Gala was chic and classy,” the New York Post <a href="https://pagesix.com/2024/05/09/style/katherine-schwarzenegger-throws-shade-at-the-met-gala-posts-classy-throwback/">reported</a>.
Shriver originally shared the snap ahead of the event held Monday night at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art.

“It was all of Hollywood&#8217;s most favorite darlings. Now, it&#8217;s like a bunch of social media influencers and the Kardashians,” Kelly said. “I recognized some of the singers, but the Hollywood A-lister game is pretty much over at the Met Gala. I&#8217;ve shared before that [when she went] there were models smoking in the women&#8217;s room, and guys doing cocaine in the men&#8217;s room. Very classy. … It’s gotten no classier because last night what we had was a parade of nudity.”
“They are nudists,&#8221; she added. &#8220;It was like they forgot their clothes. The theme was ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ and the dress code was ‘The Garden of Time’ by J.G. Ballard. In a Monday <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/katy-perry-fake-met-gala-photo_n_663a1a9be4b0f72991a79e68">post</a> on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C6pivKUNWxQ/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=dd615da9-582d-4b4c-a0e4-403af3c9aa0d&amp;img_index=3">Instagram</a>, the 39-year-old pop star shared several images that surfaced on X of her dressed in various outfits at this year’s “Garden of Time” themed event held in New York City. It is unclear who created the AI photos.
She captioned the post, “couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work.”
In one photo, she’s wearing a giant, floor-length gown covered in flowers and butterflies. In a second, Perry sports a metal corset with an image of a key, complete with a skirt made of florals and vines.
In the third photo, the “Roar” hitmaker shared a screenshot of a text thread she had with her mom Marry Hudson, who was fooled by the images along with Perry&#8217;s followers.
“Didn’t know you went to the Met,” Perry’s mom wrote her daughter. “What a gorgeous gown, you look like the Rose Parade, you are your own float lol.”

One of the posts of the <a href="https://x.com/jxries/status/1787603212075233371" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AI-generated</a> ballgown photo has 15.4 million views with nearly 70,000 reposts as of Tuesday morning, with a note about how it was made with AI, <a href="https://www.npr.org/2024/05/07/1249570785/katy-perry-met-gala-deepfake">NPR noted</a>.

In the post, the 28-year-old singer wore an all-corseted, off-the-shoulder gown. At the time of this publication, the post has garnered 2.1 million views.
She later showed up at the NYC gala wearing all black and with crimson hair, NPR noted.

The Met Gala happened on Monday night.
Every single year, the Met Gala is a display straight from Panem in “The Hunger Games.” People dress in idiotic costumes. It is the height of culture, with people who are showing “fashion” to the rest of society, which usually means androgyny. People dress like shower curtains and all of the rest.
But there was something that was kind of fascinating about this year&#8217;s Met Gala, and that was the theme, which was “Garden of Time.” It was based on a 1962 short story by an author named J.G. Ballard, who considered himself a political moderate.
The story of “Garden of Time” is about a couple stuck in the past. They play Mozart, they dress in very fancy outfits, and they live in a walled garden estate.
Across the horizon they can see a mob approaching. In order to stop the mob, they use flowers from a magical garden. They can snip off flowers from this magical garden and essentially pause the mob and its attempts to take over the mansion and destroy everything. But the garden is decreasing in the number of flowers it has; it has a set number of flowers, and the worse things go, the more flowers have to get snipped off.
At the end of the story, the couple turn into statues and the mansion is overrun. In this short story, the mob isn&#8217;t good. The mob is just the mob. The people who wall themselves off from humanity are not necessarily good either, but at least they&#8217;re cultured. At least these people like Mozart. They express love for one another. They have a solid marriage, but eventually, they end up being overrun.

I&#8217;m not sure if the people who read this story or the people who decided on the theme at the Met Gala simply misinterpreted the story completely, thinking it to be about the fragility of nature — because it clearly is not. It is really about elite versus mob rule and the inability to bridge that gap.
That was really the story last night, not just because of the celebrity morons who put on exceptionally expensive outfits they will wear once to show off for the cameras, but also because right outside, there was a braying pro-Hamas anti-American mob.
And that juxtaposition is pretty telling about where we are in Western civilization right now.
The mob was knocking down barricades in an attempt to storm the Met Gala to make their point, which is generally anti-American. They don&#8217;t like the civilization in which they live.
The difference between the short story “Garden of Time” and last night’s Met Gala is that in the short story, the elites are actually opposed to the values of the mob. They listen to Mozart. They are very delicate in their sensibilities.
But the people who are now our celebrities are people who sympathize with the protesters, who clap for the protesters, who march for the protesters. 
Why do they do that?
Because they believe they can co-opt them. This is also true of the leaders of the Democratic Party. This is why they refuse to dissociate from the anti-American protesters on college campuses.
They believe they can co-opt the mob. They believe if they can grab the reins of that runaway carriage, then they can somehow direct it in a direction they wish to go. That if they can re-channel that river of human sentiment and anger, they can direct it across the landscape in a way they wish to control.
They are wrong, and the revolution is going to eat them because the revolution always eats its own. It always eats the people who try to control the revolution.
For the people who are the heads of the Democratic Party, there is always a payoff involved. The payoff was always: If we give you part of what you want, then you will allow us to maintain control.
This has been true throughout the Democratic Party&#8217;s attempts to rule over the mob. It&#8217;s been true since the 1930s when the Democratic Party was attempting to channel social outrage at American capitalism toward the New Deal. It was true in the 1960s and 1970s when the Democratic Party was trying to channel outrage about the Vietnam War and civil rights, and the sexual revolution into their own program.
And it is true now when the Democratic Party is trying to channel the rage of the Black Lives Matter mob or the mass mob into electoral victory. There&#8217;s always the attempt: If we give you half of what you want, maybe you&#8217;ll vote for us and keep giving us the power.
The problem is, very often the mob is just wrong, which is something our Founding Fathers knew and why they did not like mob rule. That&#8217;s why the Founding Fathers built checks and balances into the American government.
Ever wonder why the Founding Fathers weren&#8217;t in favor of pure democracy? The answer is if there&#8217;s one thing they feared more than oligarchy, it was mob rule. They talk about it routinely in the Federalist Papers and in all their letters to one another.
They were not wrong because it turns out that mob rule is actually a terrible form of tyranny.
But the Democratic Party has attempted to channel this mob rule, and they&#8217;ve done so in part through economic payoffs. The bargain of the New Deal and of the Great Society programs of LBJ was: If we give you other people&#8217;s money, then you will allow us to maintain control of this runaway carriage.
LBJ described it as much in the 1960s, suggesting that all of the giant government programs were a sop to the revolutionary wing of his own party. If you paid them off enough, maybe they&#8217;d be quiet and support you when they go to the ballot box.
So the question becomes, what do you do with this mob? It turns out, when the elites play an inside/outside game with the mob, the mob eventually eats them.
In order to keep the mob going, which is what so many politicians and elites need in order to maintain power, they have to keep lying to them and teaching them lies and embedding those lies in every aspect of our educational system, which is what you are seeing coming to fruition right now.
When you decide to teach the mob that American systems are inherently racist and the West is inherently bad, what you get in the West is a crisis of the mob, and that mob has been created by an elite set of institutions that have been thoroughly taken over by people who despise the West and trained the mob in a particular way so they could channel them against the system itself.
And that is why there is such a lack of moral clarity in the West: No understanding of what values the West stands for, or even more  importantly, what the West’s enemies stand for.

Every year I&#8217;m confronted with the decision of whether to talk about the Met Gala. And it can be a tough decision if I&#8217;m being totally honest. 
On one hand, it&#8217;s always easy to point and laugh at rich Leftists wearing weird costumes and making fools out of themselves. On the other hand, it&#8217;s gotten way too easy to do. 
As far as celebrity freak shows go, the Met Gala is sort of like the Oscars at this point. Its &#8220;unpredictability&#8221; is now cliche. Its zaniness is now boring. Unless mayhem breaks out — say, an actor slaps the presenter live on-stage or something like that — then the truth is, no one really cares about any of these events anymore. In fact, I’m still not even sure what the Met Gala is. All I know is that the celebrities dress strangely and then go into a big museum. What do they do inside the museum? Is there some kind of award ceremony? Is it a dance — like celebrity prom or something? Do they sacrifice a live goat and drink its blood while chanting satanic curses? Is it some combination of these things? 
Nobody knows for sure. And most of all, nobody cares.
Fortunately, something interesting did happen at the Met Gala last night — or at least outside of it. Mobs of pro-Palestine demonstrators, apparently bored of their tent cities on college campuses, slowly marched through Manhattan towards the Met. And when they arrived, they tore down the police barricades and flooded the street. Watch:

That’s what she wore to the Met Gala, while riots raged outside, in a clash of poor commies versus rich commies, as Peachy Keenan put it. These riots should also bring to mind some immediate logistical considerations that the Democratic Party now has to think about. For one thing, it&#8217;s safe to say that planning for the Democratic National Convention is going through some last-minute revisions right about now. Just imagine being in charge of security for the DNC. You&#8217;re going to need bigger barricades than they had at the Met. And probably a lot more cops.

But more barricades and cops won&#8217;t fix the underlying problem that the Democratic Party has created here. There&#8217;s now a full-on uprising on the Left against the elitism that Democrats have long embraced — and the media is getting involved, too. Yahoo, for example, has already turned on the Met Gala. They just published a piece <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/met-gala-opulence-always-gross-083100100.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declaring</a>, &#8220;The Met Gala’s Opulence Is Always Gross. This Year, It’s Obscene.&#8221; 
The whole article is a rant that hits a crescendo with this paragraph, which is probably the single-longest run-on sentence I&#8217;ve ever seen in my entire life. <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/met-gala-opulence-always-gross-083100100.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Here it is</a>:

First of all, just as a stylistic matter — if you&#8217;re going to make a sentence that long, it needs to be coherent. &#8220;Boeing jet parts are falling from the sky like so many dead whistleblowers?&#8221; That doesn&#8217;t even make sense. The dead whistleblowers didn&#8217;t fall from the sky. One of them shot himself and the other died of an illness. Even if you subscribe to the theory that Boeing&#8217;s hitmen killed these whistleblowers — which, who knows, maybe they did — the fact remains that they didn&#8217;t fall from the sky. They died on the ground. So it just doesn&#8217;t work. This is the problem you get into with 100-word sentences. Eventually, you just lose track of what you&#8217;re saying.
In any event, that whole massive paragraph could be summed up as saying simply, &#8220;We&#8217;re living through late-stage capitalism right now.&#8221; That&#8217;s what the Left-wing media is saying. They used to celebrate the Met Gala, but not anymore. Now they&#8217;re saying the same thing the demonstrators are, which is that the frivolous elite are partying while Rome burns. And they&#8217;re furious about it.
What the media and these demonstrators don&#8217;t want to admit is that the elitists at this gala — all the celebrities who are dressed like slutty Star Wars villains — are on their team. The celebrities are part of the ruling class. The protesters and media critics are its products and in some cases quite literally its offspring. To be sure, the celebrities and college administrators and the politicians are reluctant to acknowledge that their own Frankenstein monster is turning against them. But that&#8217;s exactly what&#8217;s happening. 
Remember that it was two years ago that AOC showed up to the Met Gala with a &#8220;Tax the Rich&#8221; gown. There were a bunch of sympathetic news stories highlighting her bravery at the time. Here&#8217;s how AOC justified showing up to an event that costs $300,000 per table — while equipped with a custom dress, handbag, shoes and jewelry costing more than $2,000. Watch:

It&#8217;s a really important conversation, AOC says. Some people aren&#8217;t ready to hear it, but we need to punish rich people. We need to make them as uncomfortable as possible. We need to steal their money. That was the message from AOC, who not incidentally, grew up in a very well-off suburb.
Her whole schtick was always hypocritical and disingenuous. But it turns out that Leftist activists were listening to her rhetoric, they were taking it seriously. We&#8217;ve seen this a lot lately. When Chuck Schumer threatened Supreme Court justices, Leftists showed up at the justices&#8217; homes. When the White House claimed that &#8220;trans kids&#8221; were being abused, a Leftist shot and killed Christians. When Democrats <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/24/politics/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-aoc-israel-gaza-genocide-cnntv/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused</a> Israel of &#8220;genocide,&#8221; college students occupied university buildings. Now, two years after AOC attacked the Met, leftist are gathering outside the building.
This is the escalation that Democrats have primed this country for. It&#8217;s now in progress, whether Democrats intended it to happen or not. But that&#8217;s not to say the ruling elites are going to roll over and let this happen. As you saw in that footage, the cops started making arrests the very second that protestors trespassed through the barricades in front of the Met.
When these people set up encampments on college campuses, they were given a few days before the cops moved in. When they looted and burned poor neighborhoods, they were given about three months. But when they showed up at the Met Gala, they were given three seconds before the arrests started. It really shows you how the hierarchy works.
Democrats can&#8217;t protect the rest of the country from these mobs, however. Nor do they intend to. So last night, in addition to creating a scene at the Met Gala, Leftists also vandalized a World War I memorial in New York and torched an American flag in front of it. Watch:

Notice what kinds of illegal demonstrations the police will stop, and which demonstrations they&#8217;ll allow to continue. The mob can deface World War I memorials all they want because in doing so, they&#8217;re communicating their hatred for this country and everything it stands for. So the Democrats who run New York aren&#8217;t going to stop them. But the mob isn&#8217;t allowed to inconvenience celebrities at the Met, under any circumstances.
We’ll talk more about the vandalism of the memorial in a bit. The point is that this is the hierarchy that Democrats clearly want to enforce. The trouble is getting the mob to respect the hierarchy. The Democrats are having trouble with that at the moment.
Yet they still seem oblivious — or are acting oblivious, at least — to the fact that they created this monster themselves.
That&#8217;s why, inside the Met, as chaos unfolded outside, the party continued uninterrupted. And so did all of this associated weirdness, which was as off-putting as it&#8217;s ever been. Take for example this decoy <a href="https://www.eonline.com/news/1400805/find-out-who-was-hiding-under-an-umbrella-at-the-2024-met-gala" target="_blank" rel="noopener">costume</a> worn by someone using the name &#8220;Karol G.&#8221; Apparently she wanted to keep her real costume a secret, so earlier in the evening, she sported this beige umbrella-looking lampshade instead. Imagine being a hardcore, AOC-loving Leftist who sees this. Democrats have spent the last several years telling you to despise rich people and commit crimes in the name of political activism. And then, down the street from your hippy commune at the local university, some celebrity is walking around in a lampshade costume. And the entire Democratic Party establishment is pretending this is normal. What would you do? How would you view the Democratic Party establishment after seeing this?
As for the costume itself — of course, it&#8217;s clearly a bid for attention. And I guess it worked because I&#8217;m talking about it. But it&#8217;s not even an original idea. As a lot of people have pointed out, the outfit bears a striking resemblance to a certain shower curtain costume from the film &#8220;Karate Kid,&#8221; only with different colors. So there&#8217;s really no redeeming qualities whatsoever here. It&#8217;s a total debacle all around.
But to be fair, there was at least some originality on display last night. For example, this celebrity apparently walked through a wind tunnel full of roses somewhere before arriving at the Met. And for her trouble, Vogue named her as one of the best-dressed women of the evening:

We can assume that this — woman (?) — paid many thousands of dollars for that outfit, which is just a trench coat with flower peddles and glitter glued onto it. It looks like something my four-year-old daughter might make. As everyone knows, in the mind of a four-year-old girl, anything and everything can be made prettier with copious amounts of glitter and flowers. Which is a fine mentality for a small child. But it doesn’t translate very well in this case. And as self-congratulatory as it is, again, there&#8217;s no self-awareness whatsoever. It&#8217;s almost as if the entire purpose of the event is to celebrate the elites&#8217; total inability to detect how preposterous, self-absorbed and laughable they are.
This is nothing new. It&#8217;s been the case since the Met Gala was established. It&#8217;s always been a mini-theater of the absurd. What&#8217;s changed is that the voting base of the Democratic Party isn&#8217;t laughing along with these clowns anymore. They want them destroyed. They turned against the universities, and now they’ve turned against Hollywood. What the protesters of course don’t understand is that they’ve inherited their whole worldview and everything they believe from these very institutions.
Hollywood and Academia don’t realize that they’re being attacked by their own Frankenstein. But Frankenstein doesn’t realize it either. If Frankenstein ever wakes up to that fact, then the ruling class is really in trouble.

The Met Gala Is The Latest Casualty As Leftist Protesters Turn On Their Masters

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/met-gala">Met Gala</a> is known for over-the-top <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fashion">fashion</a> looks and A-list <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">celebrities</a>, but this year it was literal vermin who stole the show.
Photographers took a break from snapping pics of Jared Leto wearing a gigantic cat costume to capture stills of an unexpected interloper. “Roach Roacherson,” as People magazine dubbed the little critter, got all the attention while creeping across the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The cockroach quickly went viral on social media. &#8220;Imagine a cockroach outdressing everyone at the met gala,&#8221; one person <a href="https://twitter.com/everytimepov/status/1653216130817830912">wrote</a>. 
Celebrity photographer Kevin Mazur proudly <a href="https://twitter.com/Variety/status/1653219269319217153">posed</a> with his photo of the roach while grinning ear to ear. “That photographer is acting like he&#8217;s about to take the picture that will make his career,” one reaction said.
Ultimately, the roach met his demise on the carpet after getting squished.
“It is with deep sadness that we must report the #MetGala cockroach was stepped on. #RIP,” Variety tweeted alongside an image of the squashed bug.
This year&#8217;s Met Gala was a tribute to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019. The party featured eye-catching fashion to celebrate the theme. &#8220;Celebrities, designers, and change-makers are challenged to create costumes that serve as both a fashion statement and a tribute to the concept,&#8221; Vogue <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/met-gala-themes">wrote</a> of the event’s fashion designs.

Though Lagerfeld was a titan of the fashion world following his decades-long work with the luxury brand Chanel, he was a controversial figure due to his “fatphobia.” He was also critical of the #MeToo movement. This led to some critics questioning this year’s Met Gala theme.
“He offended people right and left, making as much of an art out of the cutting aside as the perfectly cut double-face gown,” New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman wrote following the German designer’s death.
“He judged, and knew he would be judged himself, but he didn’t care. Rather, he embraced it,” she said.
Leftist activist Jameela Jamil was openly critical of Lagerfeld being this year’s theme. 
“Why is THIS who we celebrate when there are so many AMAZING designers out there who aren’t bigoted white men? What happened to everyone’s principles and ‘advocacy.’ You don’t get to stand for justice in these areas, and then attend the celebration of someone who reveled in his own public disdain for marginalized people,” Jamil said, per <a href="https://apnews.com/article/who-is-karl-lagerfeld-met-gala-b0b79b075176852738713635080c6e2a">AP</a>.

The 42-year-old supermodel hit the red carpet decked out in a feathered cape and a floor-length white sequined gown from the Chanel Spring-Summer 2007 Couture for this year&#8217;s theme of &#8220;in honor of Karl [Lagerfeld],&#8221; the famed German fashion designer who passed away in 2019 at the age of 85.
The model spoke briefly to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHCTW4pckDo">Vogue</a> about choosing her look for the annual event.

When the model hit the red carpet in 2006 at the Met Gala, it would be the last time she would attend as a single girl. Gisele and the Superbowl-winning QB would quickly become a staple, appearing together at the glitzy annual affair for the next 15 years.
The supermodel recently broke her silence on her divorce from Brady after 13 years of marriage and hit back at rumors about what lead to their divorce, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gisele-bundchen-breaks-silence-about-tom-brady-divorce-weighs-in-on-rumors">reported</a>.
&#8220;When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together,&#8221; Bündchen explained. &#8220;As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make.&#8221;

Manhunt For Accused Illegal Alien Murderer

Oropesa is accused of killing five individuals, including an eight-year-old child Friday night. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Oropesa is reportedly an illegal alien who has been deported multiple times. 
Ford Motor Company To Import SUVs From China
In a historic first, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/american-decline-ford-to-manufacture-import-lincoln-suvs-from-china" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ford Motor Company</a> will soon begin importing the Lincoln Nautilus SUV from China. This marks the first time ever that Ford will manufacture a car in China for U.S. import. The SUVs will be an electric-gasoline hybrid powertrain and a Ford executive said that making the SUVs in China was the most practical decision. Previously, these vehicles were manufactured and imported from Canada.  “We’re already building Nautilus in China,” Lincoln President Dianne Craig said in mid-April. “It just made sense to centralize our Nautilus production.” Now, industry experts are calling for higher auto tariffs on China to encourage car companies to increase U.S. domestic production of vehicles and manufacturing. 
American Airlines Authorize Strike
American Airlines pilots have voted to authorize a strike just as the busy summer travel season begins. The union, which represents 15 thousand pilots, is asking for a raise and better working conditions from the Texas-based company. A spokesman for the Allied Pilots Association says the current scheduling has them feeling maxed out. But don’t cancel your travel plans yet – both sides say they are close to reaching an agreement.

JPMorgan Chase<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jpmorgan-chase-the-nations-largest-bank-acquires-first-republic-bank-after-government-takeover" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> assumed</a> control of First Republic Bank on Monday after it collapsed due to turmoil in the financial sector. 
The San Francisco-based bank, which collapsed in March after a run from depositors, was acquired Monday by JPMorgan Chase – already the largest bank in the U.S. and the largest bank in the world by market capitalization. JPMorgan will now acquire all of First Republic’s $103.9 billion in deposits and most of the bank’s $229.1 billion in assets. The offices controlled by the First Republic opened today as branches of JPMorgan Chase.
National Police Association Suing For Nashville Shooter Manifesto
The National Police Association is <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/the-national-police-association-files-suit-to-obtain-the-nashville-shooter-manifesto-301811954.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suing the governments</a> of Nashville and Davidson County for their refusal to disclose the manifesto of the Nashville shooter. The police association’s open records request asked for all writings by Audrey Hale recovered by Nashville PD during the March 27th raid. The request also asks for all records and communications, including emails and texts, to and from Nashville PD that mention or relate to the writings. The association wants to find out whether Nashville PD has faced political pressure to keep information hidden related to the shooting. 
Met Gala Monday Night
And, tonight, stars will take to the red carpet for the Met Gala in New York City, which is always held on the first Monday in May. This year&#8217;s event will be centered around the late Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld is best known for revitalizing Chanel in the 1980s after the luxury brand experienced a period of decline after the death of its namesake founder.
