Detransitioner Claire Abernathy hadn’t even made it to high school yet when her doctors encouraged her to undergo a double mastectomy. Despite <a href="https://www.iwf.org/2025/04/28/new-identity-crisis-documentary-mother-and-daughter-expose-medical-industrys-transgender-manipulation-and-lies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">her concerns</a> about the procedure, her mother, Carrie, was told that affirming Claire’s gender identity was the only way to prevent her from killing herself.
Now, years later, both mother and daughter <a href="https://www.iwf.org/2025/04/28/new-identity-crisis-documentary-mother-and-daughter-expose-medical-industrys-transgender-manipulation-and-lies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opened up</a> to IW Features about how the medical system manipulated them into making permanent and irreversible decisions — the consequences of which they are still grappling with today.
The worst part? They’re not alone.
The Abernathy family is part of a growing segment of our population coming to terms with the damage done by gender ideologues. Hopefully, they will serve as inspiration for other families fighting not just gender confusion, but a manipulative industry that turns this confusion into profit.
The adolescent brain is a work in progress. We all know this to be true — after all, why else would we restrict young men and women from getting a tattoo until they’ve turned 18 or from purchasing alcohol until they’ve turned 21? It doesn’t matter how much a kid feels like an “old soul.” A young person’s prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for decision-making and impulse control, continues to <a href="https://hillcrestatc.com/teen-brain-development/">mature</a> well into their mid-20s.
Because teens go through this lengthy, often angsty developmental stage, they’re that much more susceptible to risk-taking behaviors and less capable of fully understanding long-term consequences. This is why <a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/risky-driving/drunk-driving" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one in five</a> teen drivers involved in a fatal crash had some alcohol in their system — because teens are more likely to underestimate the effects of alcohol on their bodies and overestimate their ability to drive inebriated. Similarly, <a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1016/j.soscij.2016.08.004" target="_blank" rel="noopener">studies</a> show that as many as one-third of tattooed adolescents regret inking up their bodies. And unsurprisingly, <a href="https://www.mdedge.com/psychiatry/article/98697/dermatology/teenage-tattoos-are-most-often-regretted" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research</a> indicates that the younger a teen is when they get a tattoo, the more likely they are to regret it later.
So why aren’t America’s trusted, highly esteemed medical professionals drawing the same conclusions about so-called “gender-affirming” procedures? While comprehensive data on regret following medical interventions in gender-confused minors is still emerging, stories like Claire’s are proof that medicalization can and does have victims. At least if you cop some bad ink, you might be able to get it <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snl-pete-davidson-spending-six-figures-remove-all-tattoos" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lasered off</a> later. But the permanence of gender-affirming procedures adds a sickening layer of complexity and potential for regret.
Teens might swear up and down they know what they want with their lives, like an unattainable dream job or goals to jet-set around the world childless and unbothered. But I’m willing to bet that teens can, and often will, change their minds. I know I did. If you asked 16-year-old Andrea if she wanted to get married and have children, she would have laughed in your face. And, if you asked her if she felt comfortable in her female body, she probably would have similarly scoffed.
Puberty is a really rough time for any young person. That’s not only something Claire expressed to me during her interview, but it’s a reality I have lived myself. I can recall the first conscious moment I felt insecure about my body: I was in elementary school, watching a movie starring young Lindsay Lohan, and I saw how her thighs didn’t touch when she sat down on a car seat.
<a href="https://depts.washington.edu/thmedia/view.cgi?page=fastfacts&amp;section=bodyimage">Studies</a> show that as many as 40% of nine and 10-year-old girls are already trying to lose weight, and as many as 70% of normal-weight teen girls <a href="https://archive.nytimes.com/well.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/23/many-normal-weight-teens-feel-fat/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">think</a> they’re overweight. Should parents of young girls who wrongfully believe they are fat indulge their child’s delusions and allow her to diet, or worse, get liposuction? If that sounds ridiculous, that’s because it is.
Yet, that’s exactly what the medical and entertainment industries are telling parents of gender-confused children that they must do.

In my home state of California, $28,890,512 has been spent on youth “transgender” medical interventions, according to <a href="https://stoptheharmdatabase.com/state/california/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">StopTheHarm</a>. Ethically speaking, plastic surgeons are supposed to assess the physical and emotional maturity of teen patients before they go under the knife for cosmetic procedures. So why does nearly every story of detransition reveal that medical professionals rarely, if ever, address underlying psychological issues — Borderline Personality Disorder, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc. — in gender-confused youth ? And why is it that the only solution offered by most medical professionals is for these youth to have their healthy body parts modified?
And what can parents realistically do? Carrie’s experience reminds me of the old adage: Mother knows best. She knew something was off when the medical professionals rushed to transition her daughter, but was guilt-tripped and persuaded into proceeding with medicalization.
Looking back, Carrie said she realizes she should have trusted her parental intuition. Parents are often the first line of defense in protecting their child’s well-being. They should feel empowered to trust those instincts, especially when it comes to irreversible medical decisions. Carrie said it best when speaking with me: “You are the expert on your own child.”
Indeed, the Abernathy story is a timely reminder of the very real consequences of sidelining parental concerns and the dire importance of scrutinizing medical practices that clearly prioritize profit and ideology over patient well-being.

A woman who has served as the managing director for a radical transgender activist organization handles the same role for over two dozen mainstream major medical organizations, a watchdog group revealed Wednesday. 
Sue O’Sullivan of Veritas Association Management is the managing director of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and 26 other medical organizations across the United States, according to tax documents reviewed by the American Accountability Foundation. WPATH is a radical organization that has pushed for transgender medical procedures on children, including the removal of breasts for girls who identify as boys, and opposed laws to protect kids from such procedures. 
O’Sullivan is the <a href="https://veritasamc.com/team/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">co-founder</a> and president of Veritas Association Management, an Illinois-based professional services company that manages operations for dozens of mainstream medical organizations like the American Pediatric Surgical Association and the American Society of Andrology. 
<a href="https://americanaccountabilityfoundation.com/news/">The American Accountability Foundation</a> told The Daily Wire that the ties between O’Sullivan and WPATH could jeopardize the medical integrity of other organizations managed by Veritas Association Management. In total, the watchdog group identified 51 medical organizations or symposia that have some ties to Veritas.  
“Veritas Association Management’s entanglement with WPATH represents a serious reputational and ethical concern for organizations that engage its services. The medical association community should scrutinize Veritas’ role in legitimizing WPATH’s radical practices and consider the consequences of these relationships,” the American Accountability Foundation said in a report shared with The Daily Wire on its findings. 
The ties between WPATH and Veritas are well-established on both social media and the association management company’s website. 
For example, a Facebook post shows O’Sullivan and a team from Veritas attending WPATH’s October 2024 symposium in Portugal. 
“The 2024 World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) 28th Scientific Symposium, held in beautiful Lisbon, Portugal, was an amazing event!” the company <a href="https://www.facebook.com/amcveritas/posts/pfbid02jyN9CGXd4fkPHZPE6aeYujR5F9pwa1vnF1NtbQjeNMs5JxQVfjLFLW8HiKHuvvwEl">posted</a>. “Proudly managed by Veritas since 2014, WPATH promotes evidence-based transgender health care, education, research, and public policy, plus justice and equality for people of all gender identities and gender expressions.”

Veritas’ <a href="https://veritasamc.com/clients/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">client lists</a> include both WPATH and the United States Professional Association for Transgender Health, a regional affiliate of WPATH. Veritas is also currently <a href="https://veritasamc.com/careers/wpath-executive-director/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advertising</a> for an executive director role for WPATH, whose duties include “leveraging Veritas resources to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the staff and administrative activities” and “advancing transgender health equity.” The position is listed as being based in East Dundee, Illinois, where Veritas Association Management is located. 
WPATH has opposed Republican-backed laws shielding kids from irreversible transgender medical procedures and put out a <a href="https://wpath.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/01.28.25-WPATH-Board-Statement-Regarding-Executive-Order.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> attacking President Donald Trump for his executive order directing all funding be cut off for entities that promote transgenderism for kids. 
O’Sullivan is listed on <a href="https://wpath.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/FINAL-Joint-WPATH-USPATH-Statement-On-Resumption-of-Medically-Necessary-Surgeries-During-COVID.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">multiple</a> WPATH documents pushing transgender procedures, including <a href="https://app.wpath.org/media/cms/Documents/Public%20Policies/2021/Joint%20WPATH%20USPATH%20Letter%20Dated%20Oct%2012%202021.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">putting</a> children on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. 
Tax documents analyzed by the American Accountability Foundation show that O’Sullivan spends eight times as much time working for WPATH than the other medical associations she manages or directs.  
WPATH’s IRS <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/942675140/202413039349301991/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">form 990</a> for the fiscal year ending December 2023 shows that O’Sullivan is the organization’s managing director and reports spending eight hours per week in that role, which is more than the four weekly hours reported by WPATH President Marci Bowers. She only spends one hour a week for each of the other 26 medical organizations where she serves as either the managing or executive director, according to an analysis of tax documents by the American Accountability Foundation.
For example, O’Sullivan only reports working one hour per week for organizations like the <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/237097289/202432409349301603/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">American Pediatric Surgical Association</a> or the <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/383845227/202423209349325737/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Society of Ob Gyn Hospitalists</a> where she is listed as the managing director.

“As many of the organizations that contract with Veritas operate on relatively lean budgets with no (or few) in-house staff, Veritas Association Management substantially runs all day-to-day operations for many of these organizations. In fact, many organizations that contract with Veritas disclose in their tax filings that their boards have delegated all management to Veritas,” the American Accountability Foundation reported. 
After reaching out for comment to the Indian American Urological Association, the group told The Daily Wire that it ended its affiliation with Veritas last year.
The same <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/942675140/202413039349301991/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">form 990</a> reveals that WPATH has handed over many organizational responsibilities to Veritas. Veritas has control of WPATH’s books and records in addition to having responsibility for “management duties.” 
In its report, the American Accountability Foundation identified 10 major medical organizations where O’Sullivan is either the managing director or the executive director who delegates management responsibilities to Veritas.
These groups included the American Association of Clinical Urologists, Society of Abdominal Radiology, Society for Vascular Medicine, Society of Thoracic Radiology, the North American Society for Cardiac Imaging, Society for Basic Urological Research, Ohio Urological Society, Society Of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, the International Skeletal Society, and the American Pediatric Surgical Association Foundation. 
Many of these organizations list their address at the corporate address of Veritas Association Management. 
In its <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/593243373/202410899349300416/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filing</a>, the American Pediatric Surgical Association Foundation noted that it “delegated control over management duties customarily performed by or under the direct supervision of officers, directors, trustees or key employees to Veritas Association Management, Inc.”
The Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, where O’Sullivan is listed as managing director, paid Veritas $<a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/223293645/202411379349301626/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">358,900</a> in 2023. Other Veritas clients where O’Sullivan is listed as managing or executive director include the American Venous Forum Foundation, which paid Veritas $<a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/363634626/202433209349324968/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">294,600;</a> the Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists, which paid $<a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/383845227/202423209349325737/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">167,200</a>; and the Society for Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology, which paid $<a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/461912833/202431389349301343/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">131,800</a>.
Other groups that Veritas says it is associated with include the Big XII Team Physicians (which a spokesman said is not officially affiliated with the Big XII conference), the Pediatric Pharmacy Association, and the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group.
Apart from WPATH, multiple other groups linked to O’Sullivan and Veritas Association Management have issued statements in support of so-called “gender-affirming care” for children or backing transgender ideology. 
For example, the American Pediatric Pharmacy Association <a href="https://www.ppag.org/?pg=PositionStatements" target="_blank" rel="noopener">endorsed</a> as its own position a <a href="https://publications.aap.org/aapnews/news/25340/AAP-reaffirms-gender-affirming-care-policy?autologincheck=redirected" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> from the American Academy of Pediatricians backing transgender medical procedures on kids. 
The American Pediatric Surgical Association also <a href="https://apsapedsurg.org/apsa-info/about-us/apsa-statements/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">points</a> visitors to its website to a letter from a number of Left-leaning medical organizations decrying proposals during the first Trump administration to define sex as only male and female. 
The American Accountability Foundation believes that these connections may lead to the radical transgender procedures advocated for by WPATH to be normalized in the medical mainstream. 
“Veritas’ client list includes mainstream medical associations, many of which may be unaware of the extent of Veritas’ involvement with WPATH,” the watchdog warned. “By managing these organizations alongside WPATH, Veritas risks mainstreaming and normalizing WPATH’s radical policies within the broader medical community.”

Radical Trans Group’s Managing Director Linked To Dozens Of Medical Orgs, Watchdog Warns

PALM BEACH — As President Donald Trump played golf in Palm Beach, the White House announced the date of his first physical since becoming president.
The 78-year-old president&#8217;s newly appointed physician, 55-year-old Sean Barbabella, announced the upcoming physical in a statement on Saturday morning.
&#8220;President Donald J. Trump will complete his routine annual physical exam next month at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC),&#8221; said Barbabella. &#8220;The date of his physical exam will be released publicly in the next few weeks.&#8221;
Trump appointed his physician earlier this week, <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/us/american-politics/article/trump-doctor-sean-barbabella-dgxnxh92n">according to the Times UK</a>. Barbabella has &#8220;extensive combat trauma experience in Afghanistan and Iraq,&#8221; the publication reports, linking this fact to the two assassination attempts on the president&#8217;s life that took place in the past year. He specializes in emergency and tactical medicine.
The president is currently in Palm Beach, Florida, where he will spend the weekend. On Saturday evening, the president attended the MAGA INC. Candlelight Finance Dinner, and heads back to Washington, D.C., on Sunday night.

During President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration, speculation about his health swirled after his debate performance against Trump. Records showed that a Parkinson&#8217;s Disease expert repeatedly visited the White House during 2023 and 2024, but White House physician Kevin O’Connor stated in a July <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-confirms-biden-has-been-evaluated-by-doctor-who-specializes-in-parkinsons-disease" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> that Biden has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual physical. O&#8217;Connor was also a family business associate and Biden &#8220;family intimate,&#8221; <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/07/08/biden-physician-oconnor-family-business-00166934">as POLITICO described him</a>.
“That compounds the problem,” historian Matthew Algeo told the publication at the time. “You’re working for the guy you’re examining, and he’s your buddy. It’s just a lose-lose situation.”

A Georgia woman is suing a fertility clinic after she says she was implanted with a stranger&#8217;s embryo.
Krystena Murray, 38, gave birth to a healthy black baby boy in December 2023, following IVF treatments. However, Murray is white, as is the male donor, who has &#8220;dirty blonde hair and blue eyes.&#8221;
After the woman says she told Coastal Fertility Specialists (CFS) of their error, the clinic notified the baby&#8217;s biological parents, who sued Murray for custody of the child. Murray says she gave up the five-month-old baby instead of continuing to pursue a legal fight she was told she couldn&#8217;t win. Murray has not seen the baby since.
&#8220;To carry a baby, to fall in love with him, to deliver him, to build that uniquely special bond between a mother and a child, all to have him taken away,&#8221; Murray <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgFHG9mdVNM" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> at a press conference on Tuesday. &#8220;I&#8217;ll never be the same woman, I&#8217;ll never fully heal or completely move on and part of me will always long for my son.&#8221;
Murray <a href="https://abc7.com/post/savannah-georgia-woman-krystena-murray-gives-birth-another-couples-biological-child-ivf-mix-lawsuit/15929306/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> ABC 7 this week that she still thinks about the child &#8220;every single day.&#8221;
&#8220;There&#8217;s not a day that I don&#8217;t wonder what he&#8217;s doing,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I raised him for five months, but I didn&#8217;t get to see his first steps. I don&#8217;t know what his first words are. I don&#8217;t know what milestones he&#8217;s hitting.&#8221;
&#8220;I have never felt so violated, and this situation has left me emotionally and physically broken,&#8221; Murray said at the presser.
The 38-year-old said she took the baby to doctor&#8217;s appointments, breastfed him, and loved him as her own after giving birth.
&#8220;I&#8217;m not privy to what type of person he&#8217;s becoming or how he&#8217;s growing and developing, and it is very hard, and I do think of him every single day and wonder how he is,&#8221; she said.
Murray recalled the moment she first saw the baby she birthed. &#8220;The first time I saw my son, like any mom, he was beautiful and literally the best thing I&#8217;ve ever seen, but it was also immediately apparent that he was African American.&#8221;
&#8220;I would like to say my first thought is, &#8216;He&#8217;s beautiful.&#8217; My second thought was, &#8216;What happened?'&#8221; Murray continued. &#8220;Did they mess up the embryo, or did they mess up the sperm? And if they messed up the embryo, can someone take my son?&#8217; That was all within the course of the first 10 or 15 seconds of me seeing him.&#8221;
Murray, who is now pursuing fertility treatment at another clinic, says she remains in the dark about what happened to her embryo at CFS.
The suit seeks a judgment in excess of $75,000, punitive damages, recovered attorney fees, and other costs and damages, ABC 7 <a href="https://abc7.com/post/savannah-georgia-woman-krystena-murray-gives-birth-another-couples-biological-child-ivf-mix-lawsuit/15929306/">reports</a>.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) moved to restrict and remove information from its website after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mount-rushmore-of-dei-how-a-major-academic-association-is-destroying-medicine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report revealed</a> its full-throated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. 
Last week, Do No Harm, an organization committed to de-politicizing medicine, published an <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Activism-over-Meritocracy-How-the-AAMC-is-Corrupting-Medical-Education-with-Endless-DEI-Ideology.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exhaustive report</a> detailing how the AAMC wielded its influence and prestige to push DEI and other leftist policies. The AAMC facilitates much of medical education in the United States and administers the MCAT, the test students take to get into medical school. 
After the Do No Harm report dropped, the AAMC this week pulled information from its website on grants it had received, and restricted access to information about a database that tracked the race and sex of medical personnel. 
Do No Harm Senior Director of Programs Laura Morgan, who authored the report on the AAMC, told The Daily Wire that it was strange for the organization to remove the information.  
“Considering their laser focus on all things DEI, it&#8217;s curious that the AAMC would take down a web page that described the federal and private grants it receives, especially when it contains information on programs that are DEI-focused,” Morgan said.  
“Based on the organization&#8217;s past actions and initiatives, the AAMC is proud of the work they do to promote divisive ideologies throughout medical education; so why not continue to let the public see how much money they are receiving from the federal government and private foundations?” she asked. 
The <a href="https://www.aamc.org/about-us/grants-and-awards-received" target="_blank" rel="noopener">grant information</a>, which was <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20241210122732/https:/www.aamc.org/about-us/grants-and-awards-received" target="_blank" rel="noopener">archived</a> and featured in Do No Harm&#8217;s report, shows that the AAMC has received millions of dollars from the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 
The CDC was to provide $4,539,543 over four years to support “strategies to build confidence in COVID-19 vaccines among health care personnel and communities that are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.” Other <a href="https://www.aamc.org/about-us/aamc-awards/aamc-health-professions-education-curricular-innovations-grant-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">information</a> on the partnership with the CDC can be found throughout the AAMC website. 
A separate grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation gave the AAMC $1 million annually to “support technical assistance and direction to help increase diversity in health fields.”

The page also showed that the AAMC had a contract with the NIH over its “Faculty Roster,” which tracks the demographic information of faculty members at medical schools in the United States. The AAMC restricted a separate <a href="https://www.aamc.org/media/35651/download?attachment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">web page</a> on the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240721071848/https:/www.aamc.org/media/35651/download?attachment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Faculty Website</a> after the Do No Harm report. The current link to the page now says “Sorry, you do not have permission to access this page.”
“The records contained in the FAMOUS [Faculty Administrative Management Online User System] platform track each individual faculty member’s history of appointments, rank, and tenure status,” Do No Harm noted in its report. “Institutions with the same login credentials can pull reports from the database that specifically include sex and race/ethnicity information.”
The AAMC did not return requests for comment on why the information on the grants was scrubbed or why it had restricted information on the faculty tracker.
Throughout its website, the AAMC makes clear its embrace of DEI ideology. It lists “diversity, inclusion, and equity in health care” as one of its four primary mission areas and says that DEI “in medical education and the physician workforce is critical for everyone’s health.”

A powerful doctor who believes in pushing controversial <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender</a> procedures onto children is withholding a taxpayer-funded study that she conducted because the results do not support her far-Left agenda.
The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/23/science/puberty-blockers-olson-kennedy.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that physician Johanna Olson-Kennedy started the multi-million dollar study in 2015 after she recruited nearly a hundred children from across the country to participate.
The children were given puberty blockers in hopes that the drugs would &#8220;stave off the permanent physical changes — like breasts or a deepening voice — that could exacerbate their gender distress, known as dysphoria,&#8221; the report said.
The children were monitored for two years to see if the treatments improved their mental health, the report said.
Researchers found that the puberty blockers &#8220;did not lead to mental health improvements,&#8221; the report said.
Olson-Kennedy claimed to the newspaper: “They’re in really good shape when they come in, and they’re in really good shape after two years.”

However, her explanation of why the study did not produce the results she wanted is contradicted by what she and other researchers said at the start of the trial when they concluded &#8220;one quarter of the adolescents were depressed or suicidal before treatment,&#8221; the report said.
Olson-Kennedy’s team has not published the data from the study that began nine years ago because &#8220;the findings might fuel the kind of political attacks that have led to bans of the youth gender treatments in more than 20 states,&#8221; the report said.
“I do not want our work to be weaponized,” she said.
She did not want the findings from the study to be included in court cases where people are fighting to protect children from the destructive life-altering drugs and procedures, the report said.
She claims that she is going to publish the data eventually, but claims that she can&#8217;t right now because the NIH has cut some of its funding, the report said. She claimed that the funding was cut for political reasons, which the NIH said was not true.
Amy Tishelman, a clinical and research psychologist at Boston College who was one of the study’s original researchers, told the Times that the information needed to be published: “I understand the fear about it being weaponized, but it’s really important to get the science out there.”
Dr. Hilary Cass, a pediatrician who conducted an extensive review this year of transgender services in England, said that the delay in publishing the results had led the public to think that the treatments were safe and effective &#8220;even though scant evidence backed up that conclusion,&#8221; the report said.
England’s National Health Service (NHS) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nhs-england-permanently-bans-puberty-blockers-from-being-prescribed-to-minors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> in March that it was banning giving puberty blockers to children.
It is now <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/weak-evidence-britains-nhs-to-review-all-transgender-treatment-after-major-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reviewing</a> all transgender treatments after finding &#8220;weak evidence&#8221; supporting their use.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/selena-gomez">Selena Gomez</a> has revealed that she will never be able to carry her own children due to several medical issues, but she also said that adoption or surrogacy are definite options for her.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/story/selena-gomez-cover-interview">Vanity Fair</a>, the 32-year-old actress opened up about her desire to be a mother but admitted her path “will look a little different” after being diagnosed with the auto-immune disease Lupus in 2015 followed by bipolar disorder in 2020.
“I haven’t ever said this &#8230; but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” Gomez said. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while…”
“[But] I’m in a much better place with that,” she added. “I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”

&#8220;Consensus&#8221; is a word you hear a lot these days. And when you hear it, there&#8217;s a good chance you&#8217;re being told to keep quiet about something. For example, you might notice that celebrities are flying an awful lot for people who claim to be concerned about climate change. And you might find it odd that politicians like Barack Obama are buying up giant seaside properties if they think the oceans are about to rise and wipe entire continents off the face of the Earth. And then you might notice that average temperatures in your area haven&#8217;t changed much in the past century.
These kinds of observations might lead you to question whether man-made climate change is really a big deal, or even if it&#8217;s happening at all. And in response, you&#8217;ll be told that your questions are irrelevant. They&#8217;re an affront to science, in fact, because a consensus has already been reached among experts.
One of the effects of this kind of &#8220;consensus&#8221; is that it signals to everyone else in the field — the &#8220;experts&#8221; — that they need to fall in line immediately. Even if they disagree with the consensus view, they understand that they need to keep quiet or else they&#8217;ll face professional consequences. So a declaration of a &#8220;consensus&#8221; can quickly become self-reinforcing. To outsiders, it appears that an entire field is united when really it&#8217;s not.
That&#8217;s been the case with so-called gender-affirming care, which is the established euphemism for the sterilization and butchery of men, women and children in order to affirm their misguided conception of their own identity. Again and again, we&#8217;ve heard that there&#8217;s a &#8220;consensus&#8221; among professional medical associations that these procedures are medically necessary. Everyone from the HHS Secretary to the ACLU and the DOJ have made that claim repeatedly, in state and federal courts as well as the media. And with a handful of exceptions — virtually all of them overseas — no major professional medical association has stepped up to correct the record on this.
This week, that trend finally came to an end.
It turns out that all journalists needed to do was ask some professional medical associations about their views on gender surgeries for adolescents, and the facade of &#8220;consensus&#8221; would come crashing down. That&#8217;s exactly what <a href="https://twitter.com/LeorSapir/status/1823491617157713970" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leor Sapir</a>, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, decided to do. He reached out to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, or ASPS, which represents more than 11,000 members — and 90% of the field of plastic surgery across the U.S. and Canada. This is obviously a field that&#8217;s also deeply involved in gender-related surgeries on both adults and minors. Sapir wanted to know what ASPS thought about so-called &#8220;gender affirming care&#8221; for minors.
Here&#8217;s what the society of plastic surgeons sent back.

ASPS currently understands that there is considerable uncertainty as to the long-term efficacy for the use of chest and genital surgical interventions for the treatment of adolescents with gender dysphoria, and the existing evidence base is viewed as low quality/low certainty.</blockquote>

In other words, there is, in fact, no consensus among major medical organizations about any form of so-called &#8220;gender-affirming care&#8221; for minors. That is a lie that&#8217;s been repeated by the Biden administration repeatedly, but it&#8217;s not true. And all it took to establish that it wasn&#8217;t true is for one fellow at the Manhattan Institute to ask the plastic surgeons&#8217; association about this. They apparently weren&#8217;t going to volunteer the information, but when asked, they&#8217;re willing to say in writing that they don&#8217;t endorse any of these alleged &#8220;treatments&#8221; for children. This is how flimsy the &#8220;consensus&#8221; on these gender experiments really is.
This admission from ASPS has massive ramifications for procedures that are underway right now in the United States. As City Journal notes, the WPATH standards — which pretty much all major hospitals follow — doesn&#8217;t specify any strict age minimum for gender surgeries. These are standards that the Biden administration has also defended in federal court. And these standards have been put into practice, apparently without the endorsement of a major medical association like ASPS.
<h4><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-1422-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show</a></h4>
An analysis by the Manhattan Institute, using data from a national insurance database from 2017 to 2023, found evidence that roughly 5,000 to 6,000 double-mastectomies have been performed in this country on girls under the age of 18 in the name of so-called &#8220;gender-affirming care.&#8221; At least 50 of these girls were apparently under the age of 13. That last part bears repeating — In dozens of cases, girls under the age of THIRTEEN have had their breasts removed in order to “affirm” their gender.
These are numbers that both medical associations and politicians routinely lie about. But they&#8217;re verifiable and if anything, they&#8217;re undercounting the actual numbers of these procedures. The insurance database doesn&#8217;t capture out-of-pocket procedures at all, for example. And in some cases, there&#8217;s reason to believe that hospitals are coding these procedures to suggest that they&#8217;re not related to gender dysphoria, even when they clearly are.
For instance, as the Manhattan Institute notes, there&#8217;s been a nearly seven-fold increase in the number of so-called &#8220;nonbinary mastectomies&#8221; that have been performed on minors from 2017 to 2023. These are mastectomies that are intended to make the patient look nonbinary, whatever that means. Actually, we know what it means. It means that these are girls having their bodies permanently surgically altered to look more masculine, even though the girls do not actually even identify as boys. They identify as some other category with no clear definition at all.
The number of these procedures went from 70 in 2017, all the way up to 470 last year. And City Journal <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/a-consensus-no-longer#:~:text=The%20number%20of%20procedures%20grew,argue%20amounts%20to%20insurance%20fraud." target="_blank" rel="noopener">found that</a>:
<blockquote>Plastic surgeons who perform these procedures leverage the existing billing code for breast reduction &#8230; a practice some might argue amounts to insurance fraud.</blockquote>
Based on this new revelation from ASPS, insurance fraud might be the least of these doctors&#8217; problems. These procedures could also potentially amount to massive jury verdicts and settlements for medical malpractice and even intentional fraud, which isn&#8217;t covered by most provider&#8217;s insurance policies. That&#8217;s because consensus is a critical concept in medicine. If a doctor treats a patient and ends up harming the patient, it&#8217;s very hard to sue him if he can demonstrate that he was following an established standard of care that everyone agrees on. But if the doctor goes rogue, and disregards the view of major medical associations like ASPS, then there&#8217;s potentially a lot more liability at play.
As malpractice lawyer Kevin Keller told City Journal, medical providers could potentially be looking at more than $10 million in liability for individual cases involving these gender procedures — money they&#8217;d likely have to pay out of pocket.
This is an existential threat to this entire fraudulent industry. And it&#8217;s a threat that&#8217;s becoming much more pronounced lately. For several months now, there have been other signs that the house of cards that is &#8220;gender affirming care&#8221; is about to come crashing down. There was the Cass report to the National Health Service in England, which found that there&#8217;s “no good evidence” justifying any common “interventions” concerning gender identity. Then there was the ruling in the Sixth Circuit upholding Tennessee&#8217;s ban on the castration of children, over the objections of the Biden administration and the ACLU. There were also the leaked WPATH files, which exposed internal communications in which WPATH officials admitted that they didn&#8217;t know what they were doing in many cases. And there was the declaration from the American College of Pediatricians, a relatively small group which called on all major medical organizations to: 
<blockquote>&#8230; stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex.</blockquote>
All of those developments have taken place this year. That&#8217;s how quickly the alleged &#8220;consensus&#8221; in this field of &#8220;gender-affirming care&#8221; has broken down, even as the number of people who might seek to access these procedures is increasing.
Gallup just found that nearly 8% of adults currently identify as &#8220;LGBTQ+,&#8221; which is a significant jump from 5.6% just four years ago. And as the Post Millennial reports, many of these new additions to the alphabet umbrella are young people.
<blockquote>For each generation, a person is about twice as likely to identify as LGBTQ as opposed to the generation before.</blockquote>
And of course, many of these young people — particularly the ones who identify as transgender — are highly likely to seek out hormones, surgery, puberty blockers, or some combination of the three.
This is a trend that&#8217;s only possible because of a manufactured, artificial consensus of alleged experts. It&#8217;s a social contagion that has depended on the silence of people who know better. With the statement this week from the plastic surgeons&#8217; association, as unlikely as it was, any pretense of a consensus is now gone completely. It has been demolished as if it never existed — because it didn’t. For the sake of the millions of young people who are still eager to join the gender cult, this entire industry needs to meet the same fate.

Margaret Mulkerrin, Hoyer&#8217;s deputy chief of staff and spokesperson, released a <a href="https://x.com/bresreports/status/1823461280923181128" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> about the health scare on Tuesday.
&#8220;On Sunday night, August 11, Rep. Steny Hoyer experienced a mild ischemic stroke and sought medical treatment,&#8221; Mulkerrin said. &#8220;Mr. Hoyer has responded well to treatment and has no lingering symptoms.&#8221;
The congressman, who is 85 years old and <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/01/08/steny-hoyer-reelection-maryland/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seeking re-election</a>, &#8220;expects to resume his normal schedule next week,&#8221; Mulkerrin added. &#8220;Mr. Hoyer’s wife and family extend their deepest thanks to his medical team.&#8221;

The New Jersey Globe <a href="https://newjerseyglobe.com/congress/pascrells-office-says-congressman-is-in-stable-condition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> that Pascrell, who is 87, is running for a 15th term in Congress and would become the oldest member of the House if he defeats Republican challenger Billy Prempeh.

When I enlisted in the Army in 2001, I recall the part of in-processing that had me lying naked on an exam table with only a big, white sheet covering my body, tented by my knees. I was told that the physician was going to walk in, lift the sheet to observe my genitalia, and walk out. That’s exactly what he did. The U.S. Army found that my anatomy was commensurate with what is defined as “female.” In other words, sex was defined by anatomy.
Fast forward about 20 years, and I attended the September 2022 Contraceptive Technology Virtual Conference in an attempt to stay informed in my role as the clinical consultant for the Title X Family Planning Program in Kansas.
As an experienced registered nurse and public health professional trained in the fundamental truths of anatomy and biology, I was surprised when conference speakers gave preemptive apologies for using the word “woman.” When they used the word “woman,” they explained it was only to mirror the older, less politically correct research they referenced. They even made it a point to say they were aware of the offense it may cause because it did not include members of the “trans” community.
Each time I heard this, I wondered: Why are medical professionals apologizing for using the lexicon firmly established in every sphere of life—social, cultural, academic, philosophical, scientific? I realized there was a social construct to “woman,” but that didn’t contradict basic anatomy and genetics, which are visually observable.
One presenter suggested we stop using the term “women’s clinic” and begin asking patients if they are comfortable with using anatomical terms like “vagina” or if they prefer made-up terms like “front-hole.”
This is the salient point of gender ideology — the truth is irrelevant. I would go one step further and say the truth is being undermined at the behest of proclaimed authorities of inclusion and diversity.
I know I am not alone, professionally. Where are all my fellow nurses, providers, and researchers who stand on eternal truth?
More recently, I have seen guides put forth by local breastfeeding coalitions on the implementation of vocabulary that is more “inclusive,” such as “chestfeeding” in lieu of breastfeeding. All of this is to assuage a small but ever-growing percentage of people who reject biological reality and want to be something other than their actual sex.
In 2017, I was 41 years old and at a pinnacle point in my career. I was Assistant Director of Clinical Operations in a local health department and the President of the Association of Public Health Nurses (APHN). I served both of these roles while finishing my RWJF Health Policy Fellowship and working on my master’s in public health.
In the eyes of today’s high-performing culture, I was successful, but my husband’s health propelled me to a role that could accommodate the needs of my family. His health issues were unexpected, so I needed to be working closer to home.
So, that same year, I transitioned into my current role as a <a href="https://www.nationalfamilyplanning.org/title-x_title-x-key-facts#:~:text=Everyone%20who%20accesses%20family%20planning,status%2C%20or%20any%20other%20characteristic." target="_blank" rel="noopener">Title X</a> Family Planning Clinical Consultant. But I am now at a point in my life where I can no longer reconcile my values and professional role in this program.
Title X, a federal grant program to provide sexual health and family planning services, is available for all adolescents without regard to age. With this program, minors are legally allowed to access contraception, for example, without a parent or guardian. That’s right, Title X providers must keep patient information confidential from parents.
Providing education and counseling on contraceptive methods and how to prevent exposure to sexually transmitted infections is one thing. This is factual information, and it’s very straightforward. However, the services go well beyond that. Affirming an adolescent’s identity that is inconsistent with their anatomy is a dangerous treachery of the highest order because confusion and lies are being affirmed.
It doesn’t just stop with “social transitioning” for minors. Surgical and other forms of medical transitioning lead to permanent health complications and a life-long patient status. All of this sells lies to our youth. No amount of surgery or hormones will ever make a male a female or vice versa.
When big organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists release guidance on providing “gender-affirming care,” they’re giving pseudoscience a stamp of legitimacy. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around it — and struggling. My job was to measure practice against nationally recognized “gold standards,” and those are changing before my eyes.
As caretakers for those struggling with dementia know, you never affirm the “worms they see crawling on the wall,” but you respond with compassion and reorient them to reality and the truth. Affirming lies only furthers their confusion and does more harm than good.
Treating people with dignity and respect because they are human beings is no longer sufficient in so-called health care. Validating and legitimizing gender identities that contradict basic anatomy and genetics are now ubiquitously suggested and, at times, outright demanded. How do they demand it? The medical establishment demands the world cede the established terms of male and female.
What happens in the medical establishment trickles down into mass culture, too. After I shared my thoughts on changing culture with a writing group, the leader suggested I look into the story of Riley Gaines. After all, the issue is the same, but it manifests differently in college sports versus health care.
Upon Googling Riley Gaines, I found Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) and knew I needed to tell them about my experience. IWF isn’t just documenting the stories of female athletes like Gaines, they are providing a platform for individuals to make their voices heard on a wide range of women’s issues.
Then I discovered IWF’s <a href="https://www.iwf.org/identity-crisis-stories/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Identity Crisis</a> documentary series where detransitioners Prisha Mosley, Isabelle Ayala, and Soren Aldaco completely exposed the dangerous sequelae of gender ideology. I was angry. I remember asking myself: Where are all the sane, ethical health professionals? Why aren’t these young ladies’ parents being told the truth?
Where does this insanity end? At best, it feels like an arrogant attempt to erase the experience of half the population. At worst, it serves girls and women up as an all-you-can-eat prey buffet for men who will claim to be women — not because they truly suffer from gender dysphoria, but because they are predators seeking access to female-only spaces.
Emboldened voices scream about the injustice of appropriation when it comes to racial and ethnic groups, but where is the outcry in defense of the appropriation of women, as if dresses and makeup are the sum of the female experience? To undermine women — those who gave birth to every group, every nation, indeed the world — through imitation is a great injustice.
Yes, men plant their seed, but women are the ones who labor to grow that new human life in their womb and give birth to a human baby. It is a beautiful and elegantly simple design that honors both men and women. The medical industry I’ve been a part of for several decades used to recognize this.
I will not play the pronoun game or any gender-neutralizing tactic to mock a perfect design. I will not apologize for using the word woman. I am a woman.

“Star Wars” actress Daisy Ridley revealed that she’s been diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid gland, according to the <a href="https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15244-graves-disease">Cleveland Clinic</a>.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.womenshealthmag.com/health/a61690215/daisy-ridley-graves-disease-swim-training/">Women’s Health</a> magazine, the 32-year-old actress shared for the first time that she’d been diagnosed in September 2023 with the disease after suffering from major bouts of fatigue, hot flashes, and weight loss.
The Cleveland Clinic’s <a href="https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15244-graves-disease">definition</a> reads, “the thyroid hormones regulate body temperature, heart rate and metabolism. An overactive thyroid causes problems with organs like the heart, as well as bones and muscles.”
“I thought, ‘Well, I’ve just played a really stressful role; presumably that’s why I feel poorly,'&#8221; Ridley said after shooting her film “Magpie.”

She said when she told her doctor how she was feeling, she was encouraged to visit an endocrinologist. Ridley said when the physician described the symptoms of people with Graves&#8217; disease as “tired but wired,” it hit home.

According to the <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/graves-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20356240">Mayo Clinic, </a>Graves’ disease is described as an “immune system condition that affects the thyroid gland. It causes the body to make too much thyroid hormone,” leading to hyperthyroidism, which can affect multiple organs, The <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/lifestyle-news/daisy-ridley-graves-disease-1235966996/">Hollywood Reporter</a> noted. It also noted that Graves’ disease is more commonly found in women, and people over 30.
The “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star said following her diagnosis, she made some changes to her diet, after previously going vegan.
“I am not super strict about it, but generally cutting down on gluten makes me feel better,” she said, noting that doing so helps with inflammation for those predisposed to it.
“I’ve always been health conscious, and now I’m trying to be more well-being conscious,” she added. “I do a fair amount of the holistic stuff, but I also understand that it is a privilege to be able to do those things.”
“We all read the stats about women being undiagnosed or underdiagnosed and sort of coming to terms with saying, ‘I really, actually don’t feel good’ and not going, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine,’” Ridley continued. “It’s just normalized to not feel good.”
