Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) said Tuesday that his former son-in-law, Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), has put his family into the &#8220;seventh level of hell&#8221; as the increasingly public feud between the two Republicans escalates.
Miller and Emily Moreno, the senator&#8217;s daughter, have spent months battling in court over custody of their young daughter, with Emily accusing the congressman of domestic abuse and child endangerment. Miller has denied the allegations, sued his ex-wife for defamation, and publicly claimed she suffers from mental illness.
Speaking with entertainment site TMZ from a Capitol Hill hallway, Moreno addressed Miller&#8217;s recent statements and took questions about why he hadn&#8217;t gone public with his feelings earlier. The one topic he refused to address was politics, saying repeatedly that he did not care about how his statements could affect Miller&#8217;s re-election campaign — and, by extension, the balance of power in the House of Representatives.

&#8220;Did the lawyer for Max Miller apologize to you?&#8221; one reporter asked, and Moreno said he had not.
&#8220;Do you think that Max Miller should resign from Congress?&#8221; another asked.
Moreno turned to face the reporters and asked, &#8220;Did you read my statement?&#8221;
The Ohio senator went on to say that he believed Miller should not serve in Congress, adding, &#8220;He needs serious help.&#8221;
One reporter pointed to a statement from Miller in which he&#8217;d said Moreno was only attacking him to &#8220;hide from&#8221; his &#8220;own circus,&#8221; and asked what that might be referencing.
&#8220;The ramblings of a madman,&#8221; Moreno said, adding, &#8220;I don&#8217;t even know what that means.&#8221;
&#8220;What do you think about Miller telling Trump he could still win?&#8221; a reporter asked.
Moreno was adamant: &#8220;Look, I don&#8217;t care about the politics. I hope that you understand — or maybe I hope that you never have to understand — what my daughter has been through, what my daughter is going through, what my wife is going through &#8230; this is truly the seventh level of hell.&#8221;
Moreno spoke with the reporters for several minutes, explaining that although his family had been dealing with the situation privately for two years, he had not spoken publicly because his daughter had asked him to help de-escalate the situation with Miller so they could co-parent. <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/2026/08/max-miller-moreno-domestic-abuse-allegations/688159/?gift=SKtFP-7gCBnFn1bNJdqPMn3BVXlEYS7QkYI0KH5aUiE&amp;utm_source=copy-link&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=share">Reporting</a> from The Atlantic appears to back that up, with the outlet citing several sources who said that Emily Moreno did not want her daughter to grow up and see articles and videos showing her grandfather and her father attacking each other.
All of that had changed, he said, when Miller gave a public statement on Sunday and claimed that Moreno&#8217;s daughter was mentally ill.
&#8220;My daughter lives in constant fear of this man,&#8221; Moreno said, adding, &#8220;You can&#8217;t fathom what that makes me feel like when the dad&#8217;s number one job is to protect your kids.&#8221;
He explained that he had been the one to pick up his granddaughter on Sunday because he didn&#8217;t want his daughter to have to interact with Miller any more than absolutely necessary — and that they had to arrange a pickup at a local police station &#8220;because I don&#8217;t know what this guy&#8217;s capable of.&#8221;
Miller, Moreno said, initially refused to return his granddaughter&#8217;s favorite blue bunny — the one toy that she always slept with: &#8220;This girl is crying at night because she can&#8217;t sleep without her little blue bunny. His answer is, &#8216;I&#8217;m just not going to give it to you.'&#8221;
Moreno also accused Miller and his attorney, in their attempt to <a href="https://x.com/anniekarni/status/2084611256019783703">publish evidence</a> that backed his side of things, of having released photos of his granddaughter &#8220;completely naked&#8221; — something that Miller&#8217;s attorney said was &#8220;completely unintentional.&#8221;
&#8220;My personal opinion is that this is a felony and that every single human being that touched that photo and transmitted it electronically should go to jail because it is illegal to do that,&#8221; he said.
Miller also addressed the ongoing situation on Tuesday, declaring his innocence and promising to prove it through an ethics investigation — which was <a href="https://x.com/JakeSherman/status/2084702476675031241">launched</a> Tuesday.
&#8220;In light of all the renewed interest in my family affairs I am going to file my own paperwork for an ethics investigation into myself to clear my name from these horrific attacks on myself and family. Newly released emails show that Dr. Anthony Fauci, while serving as a top member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, pressured Dr. Deborah Birx to back his play and conspired to get Dr. Scott Atlas ousted from the team.
In a series of emails shared by economic historian Phil Magness on Monday, Fauci spoke with other officials like Birx and then-NIH Director Francis Collins about how to get rid of Atlas and how they could best coordinate their efforts to discredit the &#8220;Great Barrington Declaration&#8221; — which made the case against broad lockdowns and advocated for achieving herd immunity by providing &#8220;focused protection&#8221; for vulnerable populations — and its authors.
The exchange began on October 11, 2020, when Fauci shared an article from the far-left publication &#8220;The Nation&#8221; with Collins. The article, written by epidemiologist Gregg Gonsalves, framed the ideas of herd immunity and focused protection as &#8220;deadly delusions.&#8221; On October 14, Gonsalves <a href="https://x.com/PhilWMagness/status/2084428976047509686">responded</a> to both Collins and Fauci in an email with a subject line that read, &#8220;Thank You For Your Frank Comments on Herd Immunity (Larry Kramer Would Be Proud).&#8221;
Further correspondence from that same day showed Fauci coordinating with Gonsalves, Birx complaining about Atlas, and Fauci bragging to Gonsalves about how he was working to <a href="https://x.com/PhilWMagness/status/2084428093234573461">undermine</a> Atlas at the White House.
&#8220;I am trying to get this jerk shut down by working from within the White House,&#8221; Fauci said of Atlas. &#8220;They promise they will handle it and nothing happens. I will keep trying.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m just glad it&#8217;s in the open who has been undermining Tony and I at the White House and who was manipulating the data,&#8221; Birx replied. &#8220;We are pushing back very hard.&#8221;
In another <a href="https://x.com/PhilWMagness/status/2084429691016958291">October 14 email</a>, Fauci compared proponents of the Great Barrington Declaration (GBD) to &#8220;AIDS denialists&#8221; — a move that Magness found ironic since Fauci himself had spread false information about AIDS in the 1980s, saying that it could be transmitted through casual contact.
Gonsalves continued to complain about  GBD advocates in yet another email from <a href="https://x.com/PhilWMagness/status/2084427800740536813">October 14</a>, saying, &#8220;Don&#8217;t even get me started. Martin Kulldorff, Sunetra Gupta, and Jay Bhattacharya (with who I am part of a grant, BTW), can suck it. I have never been so ashamed of my community of epidemiologists/decision-scientists.&#8221;
On October 15, Fauci emailed Birx directly to relay a <a href="https://x.com/PhilWMagness/status/2084427218894135701">conversation</a> he&#8217;d had with presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner, saying that he&#8217;d been lobbying the White House adviser to help him get rid of Atlas.
&#8220;I really laid it on him but he still does not completely understand how dangerous this guy is. He is still in the realm of &#8216;differences of opinion,'&#8221; Fauci wrote, pressing Birx to follow up and drive the point home with Kushner. &#8220;You have got to speak with Jared and confirm what I said that this guy is killing people. I likened him to the AIDS denialists of the 1980s.&#8221;
The thread concludes with an <a href="https://x.com/PhilWMagness/status/2084425142944387310">email</a> sent by Fauci to Birx on October 16, 2020, in which he tells her what to say since he will not be present at task force meetings that day.
&#8220;Over the past week I have come out very strongly publicly against the &#8216;Great Barrington Declaration.&#8217; Scott Atlas may try to counter this. Please speak out for me,&#8221; Fauci directed, asserting that Atlas was also likely to deny the possibility that COVID-19 could cause residual effects. &#8220;This is all part of his theme that infections do not bother healthy people. Please speak out when he tries to play these things down.&#8221;
Fauci was supposed to testify on Capitol Hill last week, but spent the entirety of his time responding to questions — from queries about the origins of the pandemic to the color of his tie — by invoking his Fifth Amendment rights.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. laid into CNN anchor Dana Bash during a Sunday morning interview, arguing that her network — and media across the board — had been complicit in efforts to silence anyone who raised questions about the COVID-19 pandemic orthodoxy.

Senator Bernie Moreno and Congressman Max Miller traded blows on social media Sunday, with the former Ohio Republican accusing the latter of abusing his daughter, allegations the congressman denies.
For weeks, Miller has been dogged with rumors that he was abusive towards his ex-wife, Emily, Moreno&#8217;s daughter. On Saturday, Miller announced on X that he would make a public statement Sunday morning, which took the form of a <a href="https://x.com/MaxMillerOH/status/2083923492676706663">livestream</a> in which he denied the accusations against him, including a claim that he had thrown hot water on Emily Moreno. Miller dismissed the incident as &#8220;horseplay,&#8221; saying the water was not as hot as alleged. Miller also said that child welfare agencies had found accusations he had abused the couple&#8217;s two-year-old daughter &#8220;unsubstantiated.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m not getting out of this race, and I&#8217;m winning in November,&#8221; said Miller, who faces a tight re-election race in November.
In response, Moreno said that he feared for his daughter and granddaughter when they were with Miller, and argued that the congressman&#8217;s actions rendered him unfit for public office.

&#8220;As he has admitted privately, Max Miller needs serious psychological help. He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter,&#8221; Moreno continued.
&#8220;If there are any basic standards of character required to hold elected office, Max Miller fails them. He should not serve in the House of Representatives. I believe Max Miller needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake. I believe he should not be free to continue endangering others until he does,&#8221; he added.
Miller responded by sharing a <a href="https://x.com/MaxMillerOH/status/2083939064462422509">number of files</a> he said would substantiate his claims. He also fired back at Moreno, saying &#8220;If my daughter said the same thing to me, I personally wouldn’t wait two years before holding him accountable.&#8221;
&#8220;You know this isn’t true and the only reason you are speaking out now is to hide from your own media circus,&#8221; Miller added. &#8220;This is all political.&#8221;
The family struggle has a political dimension, as both Moreno and Miller are strong allies of President Donald Trump. Trump endorsed Moreno in his 2024 Senate race, and Miller in his current re-election bid. The Times reports that some close to Trump are worried about Miller&#8217;s decision to publicly attack Moreno, which they think could imperil his chances at winning in November. Republicans have until Wednesday to replace Miller on the ballot, should they so choose.
Emily Moreno alleges that, during their marriage, Miller slammed her against the wall, held a gun to her head, and broke their daughter&#8217;s collarbone. Emily Moreno has since filed a restraining order against Miller, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/02/us/elections/max-miller-ohio-republican-moreno-election.html">according</a> to the New York Times, which also reports that the senator&#8217;s daughter is petitioning to end her shared parenting agreement with Miller. The case is expected to go to court in November.
Miller responded in his own court filings by calling his ex-wife &#8220;mentally ill,&#8221; and claiming that she was the one putting their daughter at risk. He also took the argument public, telling Spectrum News that she &#8220;sadly isn’t all there&#8221; and claiming in court that she was actively engaged in a smear campaign against him.
Telling the court that Moreno owned at least one firearm, Miller claimed that he feared for his own personal safety. He also asserted that their daughter&#8217;s broken collarbone had been the result of Moreno&#8217;s driving.
“It is shameful that Max Miller decided to go on a bizarre and lie-filled rant about his ex-wife to desperately try to save his political career,&#8221; Emily Moreno&#8217;s spokesman, Stefan Mychajliw, said in a <a href="https://x.com/stefanmychajliw/status/2083947202490114530?s=46">statement</a> Sunday. &#8220;There is a documented trove of evidence that Miller has a history of violent and dangerous behavior and no amount of victim shaming will change that.&#8221;

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) hedged during a Sunday morning interview, brushing off questions about whether or not Maine Democratic Senate nominee Troy Jackson had been throughly vetted in the wake of former nominee Graham Platner&#8217;s public implosion.
Appearing on NBC&#8217;s &#8220;Meet the Press,&#8221; Sanders praised Jackson&#8217;s working-class background and progressive platform but emphasized that he had no role in the process that elevated the former Maine Senate president to the nomination after Platner withdrew. &#8220;I was not involved in that process at all,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;As you indicated, they had to move very, very quickly, and I think the Maine Democratic Party did the best they could under difficult circumstances.&#8221;

Sanders went on to describe Jackson as &#8220;a fifth-generation logger&#8221; and a champion for working families, highlighting his support for Medicare for All and protecting Social Security.
But when asked whether he would endorse Jackson, Sanders stopped short of offering an unsolicited endorsement. &#8220;If he asks me to, I certainly will,&#8221; Sanders replied. Before rape allegations ultimately forced Platner off the campaign trail, Sanders had repeatedly defended the then-candidate despite mounting controversies surrounding his campaign. When asked Sunday whether he regretted endorsing Platner, Sanders declined to directly answer.
&#8220;There were very serious allegations against Platner,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;As a result of those accusations, I and virtually all of his supporters requested that he withdraw from the race, and he did.&#8221;
Pressed again on whether he regretted backing Platner in the first place, Sanders instead argued that hindsight made the question easier to answer. &#8220;Well, you know, it&#8217;s easier to be a Monday morning quarterback,&#8221; Sanders <a href="https://x.com/RNCResearch/status/2083926150837879124">said</a>. &#8220;Platner ran a very strong campaign &#8230; A woman made very serious allegations against him. When NBC moderator Kristen Welker asked once more if he had any regrets, Sanders did not answer but instead pivoted to broader Democratic politics, arguing that voters are rejecting establishment candidates and increasingly embracing left-wing alternatives. &#8220;The people of this country right now are sick and tired of establishment politics and establishment policies,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;They want change, and I and other progressives are going to do everything that we can to bring about those changes.&#8221;
Platner&#8217;s campaign collapsed after a series of controversies culminated in rape allegations, which he denied before withdrawing from the race. His downfall also prompted scrutiny of the progressive consultants who recruited and promoted his candidacy.
According to <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/07/17/platner-is-finished-does-the-same-fate-await-the-out-of-state-consultants-who-recruited-him-01002652">Politico</a>, campaign advisers allegedly declined recommendations for additional opposition research after an initial vetting uncovered problematic online posts and suggested further review. The report detailed broader concerns that warning signs surrounding Platner were overlooked as consultants raced to elevate the political newcomer into one of the Democratic Party&#8217;s most closely watched Senate candidates.
Jackson was selected as the replacement nominee after Platner exited the race, giving Democrats only days to choose a new standard-bearer in one of the nation&#8217;s premier Senate contests. He has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/graham-platners-replacement-accused-of-having-kids-with-cousin">since faced scrutiny</a> of his own after a report surfaced that he has two children with his longtime partner, Lana Pelletier, who genealogical records indicate is his second cousin. The relationship is legal under Maine law, and Jackson&#8217;s campaign has not publicly commented on the reporting.
Jackson will now face incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) in November as Democrats seek to flip a seat viewed as critical to their hopes of reclaiming the Senate majority.

Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio prompted laughter at his Thursday morning press conference, taking a jab at former White House COVID-19 adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Fangio opened his press conference with a reference to Fauci&#8217;s grilling on Capitol Hill one day prior — during which the former White House official had repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment rights — saying that maybe he shouldn&#8217;t have to answer any questions either.
&#8220;Vic, what&#8217;s the plan at safety?&#8221; one reporter asked. &#8220;Is that Marcus&#8217; [Epps] job to lose?&#8221;
&#8220;I’m gonna be like Fauci and just take the Fifth Amendment on all questions,&#8221; Fangio laughed, as did several around the room. &#8220;Did you guys see that? Oh my God.&#8221;

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) unloaded on a reporter from radical outlet Drop Site News, claiming that the outlet was actively participating in a race to see who could be the most pro-Hamas.

&#8220;Your founders think it&#8217;s appropriate to attack and kill Israeli civilians. Scahill also claimed at another time that it was &#8220;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/reels/DQUmws3jrGA/">journalistic malpractice</a>&#8221; for Western outlets to not seek out conversations with Hamas terrorists — to whom he refers as the &#8220;Palestinian armed resistance&#8221; — when covering conflicts in the Middle East.
&#8220;Now you&#8217;re sticking a microphone in my face,&#8221; Fetterman continued. &#8220;There&#8217;s not any news here. I think the question is why does Drop Site love Hamas and Iran and Hezbollah so much? I think that&#8217;s really, I think that&#8217;s the news. I mean, are you OK with taking your paycheck from these kind of people?&#8221;

Singer-songwriter Noah Kahan criticized the White House after it used his song &#8220;American Cars&#8221; in a social media post highlighting President Donald Trump&#8217;s visit to a Michigan auto plant.
The White House posted a slideshow on TikTok and Instagram featuring photos from Trump&#8217;s recent visit to Michigan, using Kahan&#8217;s song from his fourth album, &#8220;The Great Divide,&#8221; as background music.
The song is available for use across several social media platforms — thanks to a 2024 deal between the Universal Music Group and Meta — but that&#8217;s not stopping Kahan and &#8220;American Cars&#8221; co-writer, guitarist Noah Levine, from complaining that the White House used it.

&#8220;Would never approve of my music being used in support of you or this administration,&#8221; Kahan commented on the White House&#8217;s Instagram post.
Levine, according to a Billboard <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/noah-kahan-slams-white-house-unauthorized-use-american-cars-1236305033/">report</a>, also commented on the post, saying, &#8220;You fat f*ck this song isn’t for you&#8221; — but the comment appears to have been deleted.
The music has since been disabled on the White House Instagram post.
Kahan is far from the first to complain about President Trump&#8217;s use of music for either a public appearance or a social media post.
Just last week, pop star Katy Perry complained that her song &#8220;Firework&#8221; was used in a White House video of military operations in Iran.

If people were surprised to see Vice President JD Vance as a guest on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View,&#8221; that is likely because the show typically skews far to the Left — both in its regular hosts and the guests invited to join the table.
Data provided to The Daily Wire by The Media Research Center only serves to underscore that point, as a recent study conducted by the MRC revealed that &#8220;The View&#8221; booked 87 liberal guests and just five conservative guests — meaning the show booked 17.4 times more liberals than conservatives.
&#8220;&#8216;The View’s&#8217; 87-5 guest ratio proves the show is not diverse at all. It’s a Democrat Socialist Party infomercial,&#8221; MRC President David Bozell said.
The data was compiled over the course of the midday talk show&#8217;s 29th season — which ran from September 8, 2025, through July 24, 2026 — and evaluated only the guests who specifically spoke about politics in one direction or the other.
The five &#8220;conservative&#8221; guests were Cheryl Hines (wife of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.), former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), former reality star and Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, attorney Alina Habba, and Vice President JD Vance.
The liberal guests — in addition to a number of celebrities who discuss political issues — included but were not limited to: New York City&#8217;s Democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico (also from Texas), Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), former First Lady Jill Biden, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), and Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson (on separate occasions).
It is also worth noting that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, though listed as a &#8220;conservative&#8221; guest for her appearance on November 4, 2025, also appeared on the &#8220;liberal&#8221; list for her appearances on January 1, 2026, and July 7, 2026.
According to the official stated methodology of the study, &#8220;For a guest to be counted as either liberal or conservative, they needed to express such views during their appearance on &#8216;The View.&#8217; If a celebrity did not discuss politics, they were not included in the count of political leanings even if they had a history of being outspoken in the past. For example, actor Robert De Niro had a history of speaking out against President Trump, but was not included in the liberal count because politics did not come up.&#8221;
Additionally, it was noted that &#8220;conservative&#8221; guest hosts who rotated through while Republican cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin was on maternity leave were not officially considered &#8220;guests&#8221; — nor were the regular hosts, who lean far to the Left — and were thus excluded from the reported numbers.
The study comes as reports swirl about the studio making major cuts — from wardrobe to host salaries — and the show faces an investigation from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) into whether or not it qualifies as a &#8220;bona fide news program&#8221; and is thus exempt from &#8220;equal time&#8221; political broadcast requirements.
The network has argued that a 2002 ruling declaring the show a &#8220;news&#8221; program should stand, adding that &#8220;nothing about ‘The View’ that the law cares about has changed since the Commission last answered that question more than two decades ago. … What has changed is not the program but the political climate around it.&#8221;
The network also pushed back on FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, complaining that his focus has been unfairly directed toward daytime and evening television programming &#8220;perceived as unfriendly to the current administration — while leaving untouched the vast landscape of talk radio, where candidates routinely appear without their opponents.&#8221;
The FCC responded to that criticism in a statement given to The Associated Press, saying, &#8220;While ABC insists that ‘The View’ is a ‘bona fide news program’ under the law, ABC should focus on complying with its public-interest obligations, rather than misleading the public about them.&#8221;

CBS News unveiled its first major slate of &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; hires under Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss on Tuesday, tapping New York Times columnist Ross Douthat as the network presses ahead with its overhaul of the iconic news magazine.
Executive producer Nick Bilton announced in a memo that Douthat will join the program as a correspondent, while bestselling author and filmmaker Sebastian Junger, former VICE News and CNN journalist Gianna Toboni, and British broadcaster Trevor Phillips will serve as contributors. Former CBS Evening News anchor Norah O&#8217;Donnell, who has contributed to &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; for more than a decade, has also been elevated to full correspondent.
&#8220;An exceptional lineup of journalists will be joining &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221;, carrying on its tradition of fearless, independent and impartial reporting,&#8221; Bilton wrote. &#8220;I can&#8217;t wait for them to get started.&#8221; 
The hires are the first major on-air additions since Weiss took control of CBS News and began restructuring &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; after several longtime correspondents and senior producers departed earlier this year.
Douthat joined the Times in 2009 and has become one of the paper&#8217;s best-known conservative opinion writers. Bilton praised him as &#8220;one of the preeminent public intellectuals in America today, a thinker of uncommon rigor and a journalist of deep empathy.&#8221;
Bilton also announced that Junger, the author of &#8220;The Perfect Storm&#8221; and co-director of the Oscar-nominated Afghanistan war documentary &#8220;Restrepo,&#8221; will join the program as a contributor
Toboni, whose reporting has included investigations into ISIS, Mexican cartels, mass shootings, and the death penalty, will also join as a contributor, while Phillips — recently hired as CBS News&#8217; senior global affairs correspondent — will contribute to 60 Minutes from London. 
Bilton praised the whole group as &#8220;entrepreneurial journalists who understand how to reach modern audiences.&#8221;
Earlier this year, Weiss removed longtime executive producer <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2026/05/28/bari-weiss-ousts-tanya-simon-60-minutes-favor-nick-bilton/">Tanya Simon</a> and several senior producers before dismissing veteran correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi, Cecilia Vega, and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/longtime-60-minutes-reporter-fired-after-attacks-on-new-leadership">Scott Pelley</a>. <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/celebrating-anderson-cooper-60-minutes/">Anderson Cooper</a> later departed the program voluntarily.
The personnel changes followed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/longtime-60-minutes-reporter-fired-after-attacks-on-new-leadership">years of criticism</a> that &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; had abandoned its reputation for impartial journalism, including backlash over its heavily edited 2024 interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris, which ultimately contributed to CBS parent company Paramount settling President Donald Trump&#8217;s lawsuit for $16 million.
Since taking over, Weiss has pledged to restore trust in the network while broadening the program&#8217;s appeal. Bilton, a former technology journalist and author who was tapped to lead &#8220;60 Minutes,&#8221; has likewise promised to modernize the nearly six-decade-old broadcast without sacrificing its journalistic standards.
&#8220;My responsibility is not just technological transformation,&#8221; Bilton previously told staff. &#8220;It is also our trust with the public. Above all, that means a commitment to fairness—in story selection, in the edit room, and in the broadcast.&#8221;
Season 59 of &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; is scheduled to premiere September 13.

Dr. Anthony Fauci recommended White House adviser Stephen Miller move into a hotel for two weeks after his wife, Katie Miller, tested positive for COVID-19 while 10 weeks pregnant, according to newly released diary entries.
The entries were released Saturday by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who <a href="https://www.paul.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/2026.07.24_Tonys-Diary-Package.pdf">obtained</a> them during his investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and gain-of-function research ahead of Fauci&#8217;s planned testimony on Capitol Hill in the coming week.
&#8220;COVID-19 hits the White House!!&#8221; Fauci wrote on May 8, 2020. &#8220;Yesterday, it was revealed that the personal valet of the POTUS tested positive for Sars-CoV-2. However, today it was noted that Katie Miller tested positive. She was negative yesterday and positive X2 today!!!&#8221;
&#8220;She had sxs (sic) in the Sit room yesterday and sat next to Steve Hahn and behind Azar,&#8221; Fauci continued, listing a number of officials who had all attended the same briefing. &#8220;I was on the other side of the room from her, but she was coughing in the room. She sat next to Olivia Troye when she was coughing and, in the afternoon, yesterday, Olivia sat right next to me in the Ward Room of the West Wing for 45 minutes. In the room were Deb Birx, Steve Hahn, Bob Redfield, Tyler Ann, Seema Verma.&#8221;
Fauci went on to note that White House adviser Stephen Miller had tested negative even after his wife had tested positive — a relief for the White House chief medical adviser because he&#8217;d spent some time in close proximity to Miller.
&#8220;I spent much time on phone this evening advising Katie and Steve Miller as to what they should do,&#8221; Fauci continued. &#8220;She is 10 weeks pregnant. I advised that Steve must move out of the house into a hotel; he still has to self-isolate for 14 days. If he stays in the house, whether or not he gets infected, he still must self-isolate for 14 days after Katies (sic) tests negative. His clock will start after he separates from Katie and so he should start the clock now.&#8221;
Fauci explained that because he was a &#8220;low risk exposure,&#8221; he self-imposed a &#8220;modified quarantine&#8221; in which he would &#8220;get tested every day, would wear a mask ontinually (sic), and would spend most of my time either alone in my home office or alone in my NIH office and would go to White House or Congress with precautions of universal mask wearing and phycial (sic) distancing.&#8221;
He also noted that he was monitoring Katie Miller via phone, noting that she&#8217;d been very anxious about her health and that of her unborn child.
&#8220;She is very anxious about getting very ill since she is 10 weeks pregnant. Tonight she had an anxiety reaction. I calmed her over the phone. Her pulse Ox is fine and she is afebrile,&#8221; he wrote.
His other main concern was the fact that some of those who&#8217;d been seated close to Katie were not doing enough to mitigate the potential spread of the virus.
&#8220;Marc Short and others close to Katie really should do some sort of quarantine (even if modified), but they are not even wearing masks. Not a good metric,&#8221; he complained.

While publicly urging Americans to avoid family gatherings and maintain &#8220;social distance,&#8221; Dr. Anthony Fauci was also busy behind the scenes cultivating a chummy friendship with CNN anchor Jake Tapper.
Fauci&#8217;s meetings and family dinners with the longtime CNN personality were revealed in a series of <a href="https://www.paul.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/2026.07.24_Tonys-Diary-Package.pdf">diary entries</a> made public on Saturday by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who uncovered them during his lengthy and thorough investigation into Fauci and the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The former White House chief medical adviser thoroughly documented his actions throughout the pandemic — with a heavy focus on his own media appearances and coverage, particularly when it was overly flattering — and referenced an interview with Tapper that took place on April 12, 2020. During that interview, Fauci conceded that Tapper had asked tough — but reasonable — questions, and then had called him directly afterward to make sure that the interview had not caused him &#8220;any problems.&#8221;
&#8220;Potential big problem (we shall see). NY Times reporting on an answer to a question that I gave on CNN yesterday (see above). Jake Tapper asked me if we had closed down earlier, whould (sic) that have saved lives. I said it is complicated; he persisted and I said obviously, if you close earlier there would have been lives saved, but the decision was complicated,&#8221; Fauci wrote. &#8220;I could have answered the question better and with more clarity, but the Times is now saying that I was implying that the POTUS was to blame for additional deaths according to me. The far right is tweeting to fire me. The POTUS even re-tweeted the tweet that said to fire me. We shall see how the day goes &#8230;&#8221;
Fauci said that he later met with President Donald Trump, who said that he did not have an issue and business continued as usual.
Of the press briefing that followed, he said, &#8220;I went out and explained that I was being hoest (sic) in my answer to Jake, but that I was not implying that anyone was responsible for more deaths &#8230; Phone call with Jake Tapper. Jake wanted to make sure the interview did not cause me any problems.&#8221;
Later that month, Tapper spoke with Fauci about an interview he&#8217;d done with Coronavirus coordinator Deborah Birx. Of that exchange, Fauci wrote, &#8220;I was not on Sunday shows. Deb was on CNN with Jake Tapper and did not answer the question of whether it was a mistake for the POTUS to talk about injecting or swallowing bleach. Jake wrote me a text afterwards and said: “Birx has lost her way I fear. She has chosen to focus on defending the president and attacking the press. Odd.&#8221;
On May 4, 2020, Fauci referenced a CNN interview in which Tapper had been hard on the Trump administration&#8217;s &#8220;inadequate&#8221; response to the pandemic — but had spared him the ire reserved for the president: &#8220;Jake Tapper did a segment last night on the inadequate response of the Trump administration to the pandemic. I came out relatively well.&#8221;
Later that month, when Katie Miller, a spokesperson for Vice President Mike Pence, tested positive, and Fauci was directly exposed to SARS-CoV-2, he got a call from Tapper making sure that he was all right.
&#8220;Jake Tapper called me and asked whether I was going inot (sic) quarantine. I explained to Jake that I would do a “modified quarantine” since I was a low risk exposure to Kstie (sic). Thid merans (sic) that I will get tested every day, would wear a mask ontinually (sic), and would spend most of my time either alone in my home office or alone in my NIH office and would go to White House or Congress with precautions of universal mask wearing and phycial (sic) distancing.
