Topline: The government shutdown has entered its 38th day, as Donald Trump puts new pressure on Republican leaders to invoke the nuclear option to bring an end to the stalemate. 
This is the longest shutdown in history. In the first month, unless they were federal employees or tourists in D.C., most Americans probably did not notice any significant impact on day-to-day life. But that could change by the end of this week with expected delays to air travel.
Air traffic controllers have been working without pay for more than a month now. Some have called in sick, resulting in serious staff shortages that are worsening by the day. Many of those who are on the job have been working long shifts, six days a week. As a result, starting Friday, the FAA will require at least 40 airports to cut back their flight offerings.
In total, the FAA says it’s reducing overall flight capacity by 4% on Friday, and eventually working up to 10% across what it calls “high traffic” areas. Hundreds of thousands of travelers are expected to be impacted.
Compromise coming? Republicans are holding firm, saying they will not agree to a budget that offers billions of taxpayer dollars for healthcare subsidies that will eventually make their way to illegal immigrants.
Democrats on the Hill huddled for a luncheon on Thursday afternoon to discuss their broader strategy. Another vote to potentially reopen the government may be held on Friday, according to a Senate source familiar with negotiations.
The Senate will have a procedural vote on the House-passed continuing resolution, and they’re hoping to amend it with a later end date, along with a three-bill spending package &#8211; otherwise known as a minibus.
The minibus includes three full-year appropriations bills: Agriculture-FDA, Military Construction-VA, and Legislative Branch. There is a chance the Senate Democrats could block it. Republicans need 60 votes, so five Democrats will have to vote with the GOP to reopen the government.

Topline: After several decades in Congress and two stints as the speaker of the House, Democrat Nancy Pelosi has announced that she’s not running for re-election.
The timing of Pelosi’s announcement comes right after California voters approved Proposition 50, the state Democrats&#8217; initiative to redraw California’s congressional map, earlier this week.
It had been reported for weeks that Pelosi was debating whether to run for re-election, so the timing did not surprise many. But Pelosi’s departure will give other leftists in her San Francisco-based district room to launch their campaigns.
The response: President Trump had some strong words for his longtime adversary:
“I thought she was an evil woman who did a poor job, who cost the country a lot in damages and in reputation. I thought she was terrible,” Trump said of the news of Pelosi’s retirement.
President Trump also noted that Pelosi had lost grip of the party over time. Toward the end of her time in Congress, a rift had opened between her and some young progressives in her caucus, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has for some time been the one to navigate those inner-party battles. But Pelosi has still played a major role in shaping the political landscape, not only on Capitol Hill but nationwide as well. For instance, she played a significant role behind the scenes, pressuring then-President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.
Who comes next?: It is going to be open season in the Bay Area for her seat. A bevy of people have jumped in or shown interest. California state Senator Scott Wiener, a progressive activist, has jumped in. AOC’s former chief of staff has jumped in, as well.
Pelosi’s daughter, Christine Pelosi, has been floated as a pick. Pelosi may also be looking at a San Francisco County supervisor as her successor. The tech world may also be influential in the race.

Topline: Federal border authorities saw another month of historic lows for unlawful crossings, marking a major accomplishment for the president.
The situation at the border is entirely different from what it was under the Biden administration. October saw the lowest number of illegal crossings on record, with just 30,000. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks told The Daily Wire that the Trump administration is seeing real success at the border. That success shows that despite past talk about Congress needing to act, border security really happened with just a stroke of a pen after Trump was inaugurated the second time.
Banks also said that while the government hasn’t yet achieved operational control at the border, it is much closer than ever before. He noted that several days ago, roughly 100 people crossed the border, a decrease from 10,000 to 12,000 a day under former President Joe Biden.
“Operational control is going to be when we can apprehend anything that enters this country and have zero gotaways, and we&#8217;re closer than we&#8217;ve ever been,” Banks said. “But we are not even close to being done.”
In addition to sealing the border, Border Patrol agents are also working to help ICE with mass deportation raids.
ICE under attack: The Daily Wire spoke with an ICE agent who was the victim of an attack, just one instance in the 1,000% increase in assaults on ICE under the Trump administration.
One agent who spoke with The Daily Wire was recently attacked by an illegal immigrant who had multiple convictions. The suspect had sexually assaulted a child and had numerous DUIs. He also illegally re-entered the United States.
At one point, while ICE officers were attempting to arrest the illegal alien, he tried to run from the officer. The illegal alien tried to escape by attacking the officer with a metal coffee cup that was full of hot coffee. He threw the cup at the officer, splitting the officer’s lip and giving him second-degree burns on his body.

A panel of regular MSNBC hosts — including Lawrence O&#8217;Donnell and Rachel Maddow — spent some time during their election night recap questioning whether or not the ballroom President Donald Trump is building at the White House had been part of the reason Republicans fared so poorly in several high stakes elections.
The major elections in play were the New York City mayoral election, the New Jersey gubernatorial election, and several key elections in Virginia — and all of them were won handily by the Democrats (or the Democratic socialist, in the case of New York City) in those races. And according to O&#8217;Donnell, he&#8217;d heard from at least one voter who cited &#8220;the demolition&#8221; being done in the White House&#8217;s East Wing — to prepare for Trump&#8217;s ballroom plans — as his motivation for getting out to the polls.

&#8220;Rachel, I was struck by something Vaughn Hilliard reported from a voter in New Jersey, saying that this voter was out there today voting because of, quote, this is what Vaughn said, the phrase he used, &#8216;the White House demolition,'&#8221; Lawrence said. &#8220;Donald Trump tearing down the East Wing of the White House — that sent a voter to the polls in New Jersey. Surely it sent thousands of voters to polls all around the country.&#8221;

According to a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjHoVmenp-o">CBS News/YouGov poll</a>, Americans believe the blame for the ongoing government shutdown should be spread out pretty evenly between President Donald Trump, Democrats, and Republicans — but if legacy media outlets were not doing yeoman&#8217;s work on behalf of the Democrats, might the people see the situation differently?
According to a <a href="https://newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/bill-dagostino/2025/11/05/study-tv-news-spends-shutdown-playing-defense-democrats">study published</a> by the Media Research Center, broadcast coverage on the three major networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) went out of the way to avoid any commentary that might suggest the Democrats were in any way responsible for the shutdown.
MRC pulled data from the evening news broadcasts across all three networks throughout the entire month of October — the first 31 days of the shutdown — and found that there had been 67 reports that addressed the topic. On those 67 reports, the overwhelming majority of the coverage — 87% — presented a positive view of Democrats. That imbalance translated to 83 statements that criticized Republicans over their role in the shutdown, versus only 12 statements that delivered similar criticisms of Democrats.
In addition, the networks appeared wholly disinterested in digging into how the shutdown had begun — and largely avoided addressing the number of times Democrats had voted to keep the government shut down despite being offered the opportunity to vote for a &#8220;clean&#8221; Continuing Resolution (CR), as well as separate legislation that would fund payment for members of the military or SNAP benefits.
&#8220;On both ABC and CBS, only 12.5 percent of reports on either network mentioned this basic detail,&#8221; the MRC report read, referencing the Democrats&#8217; repeated votes against a clean CR. &#8220;On NBC, that fact was included in just 31 percent of newscasts.&#8221;
When votes were mentioned, occasionally the parties were left out entirely, leaving the viewers to draw their own conclusion about where the roadblocks lay. Correspondent Tom Costello, for example, delivered the following line on October 30, as fears began to mount about travel disruptions due to a shortage of air traffic controllers: &#8220;Delta and United [Airlines] also urged Congress to pass a clean resolution, known as a CR, to end the shutdown,&#8221; he said – but his statement leaves out the fact that a clean CR has already come up for a vote in the Senate more than a dozen times – and that Democrats were the ones voting against it.
Costello did finally point out the fact that the airlines were backing the Republicans on this particular issue — but not until he made an appearance the next morning on &#8220;TODAY,&#8221; MRC noted.
Even CNN&#8217;s Jake Tapper had to marvel at just how effective the messaging had been — and he conceded that Democrats were largely responsible for the shutdown, even if they&#8217;d managed to convince the people otherwise.

&#8220;Democrats are the ones that are not voting to fund the government. Now, I understand why they’re doing so, they’re doing so because of health care and they want to fight, and they want Republicans to negotiate, et cetera, et cetera,” Tapper said on Tuesday. &#8220;The messaging by Democrats around this shutdown has been sharper than I’ve seen Democrats on any issue in a long time.&#8221;
&#8220;They have convinced voters, Democratic voters and independent voters, that it’s the Republicans’ fault. And just on the numbers, that might not be actually accurate in terms of who’s voting to open the government and who isn’t,&#8221; he added.

Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville took a page out of George Bernard Shaw&#8217;s &#8220;Pygmalion&#8221; and gave it a sickening twist, claiming on Wednesday that he could recruit a &#8220;convicted pedophile&#8221; and coach that candidate to a win over a Republican.
Carville — the brains behind former President Bill Clinton&#8217;s &#8220;it&#8217;s the economy, stupid&#8221; — cracked the off-color &#8220;joke&#8221; on his &#8220;Politics War Room&#8221; podcast in the wake of sweeping victories for Democrats in Tuesday&#8217;s elections. The joke was primarily a reference to Virginia Attorney General-elect Jay Jones, who won his election despite the revelation that he had once texted a colleague about wishing violence on a political opponent.

Laughing as he laid out his plan, Carville said, &#8220;I’m personally going to find a convicted pedophile and run him in a race just to see if he could beat a Republican. I’m not sure. I’m not going to say that a convicted pedophile could win.&#8221;
&#8220;And by the way, the guy that was running against [Jones] ran a pretty good campaign,&#8221; Carville said, speaking of incumbent Attorney General Jason Miyares (R-VA). &#8220;He ran ads &#8230; if you think &#8230; the most interesting thing, drum roll, I&#8217;m going to give y&#8217;all the most interesting piece of news of the cycle, even more interesting than Bucks County. Uber left CNN political commentator Van Jones said he was taken aback by the “character switch” during New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s victory speech.
“I think he missed an opportunity. I think the Mamdani that we saw in the campaign trail, who was a lot more calm, who was a lot warmer, who was a lot more embracing, was not present in that speech,” the commentator said while participating in a panel discussion for CNN.
“There are a lot of people trying to figure out, ‘Can I get on this train with him or not? Is he going to include me? Is he going to be more of a class warrior even in office?’ I think he missed a chance tonight to open up and bring more people into the tent,” Jones added.
“I think his tone was sharp. I think he was using the microphone in a way that he was almost yelling,” he went on. “That’s not the Mamdani that we’ve seen on TikTok and the great interviews and stuff like that.”
“I felt like it was a little bit of a character switch here,” Jones noted, wondering why the “warm, open, embracing guy” was gone during his first statements to the public following his big win in NYC.

“That said, he’s very young and he just pulled off something very, very difficult. I wouldn’t write him off, but I think he missed an opportunity to open himself up tonight and I think that that will probably cost him going forward.”
Mamdani, 35, who has not been shy about his embrace of socialism, promised in his victory speech to freeze rents for more than one million New Yorkers, provide free busing, and offer universal childcare, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mamdanis-party-nycs-new-mayor-celebrates-win-by-channeling-americas-marxist-icon">reported</a>. 
“For as long as we can remember, the working people of New York have been told by the wealthy and the well-connected that power does not belong in their hands,” he said during his speech. “The future is in our hands. My friends, we have toppled a political dynasty. I wish Andrew Cuomo only the best in private life. But let tonight be the final time I utter his name, as we turn the page on a politics that abandons the many and answers only to the few.”
Mamdani’s speech focused on class warfare and identity politics, plus included negative comments about President Donald Trump, whom he called a “despot.”
“If we embrace this brave new course, rather than fleeing from it, we can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves,” he said. “After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump, how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.”

Topline: On Tuesday night, Democrats scored a number of significant victories in statewide races across New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and California. 
Republicans were facing an uphill battle. The party in control of Washington almost always struggles in off-year elections, and the biggest races were in blue states. But there’s no doubt Democrats in many ways exceeded expectations as they easily won both gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey, passed a significant ballot measure in California, and scored an overwhelming mayoral victory in New York City.
New York City: NYC’s election was defined by an enormous turnout. By 5 p.m., four hours before polls closed, there had already been more votes cast than in any mayoral race in more than three decades. That enthusiasm benefitted one man, Zohran Mamdani. The self-avowed socialist trounced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa by significant margins.
Republicans intend to make the best of a bad situation, however. Many of Mamdani’s policies are wildly unpopular nationwide, so the GOP will likely work to promote him as a new standard-bearer for the Democratic Party.
New Jersey: Democrat Mikie Sherrill scored a decisive victory over Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli, with the race being called within the first hour of polls closing.
This election was decided by women. According to exit polls, Ciattarelli won with male voters by a comfortable six-point margin. Among female voters, Sherrill won by a stunning 20-point margin.
Democrats also won big on two of the most important issues, healthcare and the economy. Exit polling showed that nearly half of New Jersey voters listed those issues as their top priority. Sherrill won those folks by a more than 2-to-1 margin. Much like Donald Trump, Ciattarelli did best among working-class voters and white men.
Virginia: Democrats’ candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general all came out on top. The governor’s race ended up a blowout, with Abigail Spanberger defeating Republican Winsome Earle-Sears handily. The last few votes were counted early Wednesday morning, and it appeared to be among the largest margins of victory for a Democrat gubernatorial candidate in the state in decades.

Topline: This election cycle has highlighted a growing appetite for socialism among young Democrats and the growing influence of progressives over the Democratic Party.
Socialism takes NYC: Mamdani won the NYC mayoral race, which is not altogether surprising in a deep-blue city like New York. And there’s an argument to be made that Cuomo could have pulled out a win if he hadn’t split the anti-Mamdani vote with Sliwa. But regardless, the Democratic Party has given its tacit or explicit approval of Mamdani. For as radical as Mamdani is to the mainstream of American politics, he faced essentially no public resistance from Democrats. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries even endorsed him.
Still, many Democrats didn’t appear pleased with Mamdani. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer never <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/04/us/politics/chuck-schumer-zohran-mamdani-endorsement.html">endorsed</a> him. Neither did former President Barack Obama, though Obama did <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/01/nyregion/zohran-mamdani-barack-obama-election.html">call</a> Mamdani to compliment his campaign. All of this speaks to a tension these politicians see between Mamdani as a broadly unpopular figure, but very popular among the Democrats’ left-wing base, which, with Mamdani’s win, is in its ascendency.
Loyalty over decency: In Virginia, Spanberger never distanced herself from the Democratic nominee for state attorney general, Jay Jones, despite his scandals. The Washington Post wrote in a Monday evening <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2025/11/03/virginia-election-governor-spanberger-sears-jay-jones/">editorial</a>: “If Jones rides Spanberger’s coattails to victory, it would be a sad reflection of a discomfiting willingness among voters to prioritize partisanship over human decency.”
This is currently a trend in Democratic politics. In Maine, Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner hasn’t felt Democratic backlash, except within his own campaign staff, from having a Nazi tattoo.
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent, dismissed Platner’s tattoo last month. “Between you and me, there might be one or two more important issues,” Sanders told Axios.

Topline: The government is still shut down, potentially causing major problems for upcoming holiday travel and delaying SNAP benefits for tens of millions of Americans.
The Senate voted on a continuing resolution that passed the House, and for the 14th time, it failed. Only two Democrats, Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman and Nevada’s Catherine Cortez-Masto, voted alongside Republicans to open the government.
Dem’s message: Democrats say it’s Republicans who are keeping the government shut down, and they are essentially arguing that the shutdown is happening because Republicans aren’t on board with certain healthcare subsidies.
“There’s nothing to be optimistic about, relative to the cruelty and the pain that Donald Trump and Republicans continue to inflict on the American people,” Jeffries <a href="https://x.com/RepJeffries/status/1985755754540708251">said</a> on Tuesday. “They refuse to address the health care crisis that Republicans have created.”
GOP’s message: Republicans have stuck to their original message —that the CR bill is “clean,” maintaining current funding levels without any policy changes. Democrats refusing to vote for it are clearly the ones keeping the government shut down.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) also said that Democrats want to force American taxpayers to fund healthcare for illegal immigrants, and that’s why there is a stalemate.
“In addition to their refusal to vote for the CR and reopen the government, the Democrats have had the audacity to demand something new. They demanded $1.5 trillion with a ‘T’ in new spending obligations,” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C321Cds5qIY">said</a> Johnson. “Included in that is nearly $200 million of taxpayer funds that they want to use to restore free health benefits to illegal aliens.”
Shutdown on air travel: Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Tuesday that if the government shutdown continues, air travel will be severely restricted during the holiday season.
“You will see mass flight delays. You&#8217;ll see mass cancellations, and you may see us close certain parts of the airspace, because we just cannot manage it because we don&#8217;t have the air traffic controllers,” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jxpszDOrQA&amp;list=RDNS6jxpszDOrQA&amp;start_radio=1">said</a> Duffy.
Shutdown on SNAP: Trump said on Tuesday that a potential delay for this month’s SNAP benefits will continue for 42 million Americans until the “Radical Left Democrats” reopen the government, which he said they can “easily do” at any time. USDA’s main website similarly says they don’t have funds to distribute benefits because of Democrats.
Trump’s message comes one day after the administration said it would dip into emergency funds to <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/US/trump-administration-partially-fund-snap-months/story?id=127138175" target="_blank" rel="noopener">partially fund</a> SNAP with a $4.65 billion payment, following a federal judge’s order. A court filing said that the process could take “a few weeks to up to several months.”

Shapiro went on to reference a recent Atlas Intel poll that showed Mamdani besting Cuomo — but that in a head-to-head match up, Cuomo would be the likely victor.
&#8220;In that poll, by the way, Sliwa is claiming 15.5% support,&#8221; Shapiro added, noting that the same poll showed Sliwa siphoning the votes that would likely boost Cuomo to victory. &#8220;Guys, no, don&#8217;t do this, don&#8217;t do it. It is not worth whatever points you think you are scoring by not voting for Andrew Cuomo.&#8221;
&#8220;Listen, I don&#8217;t like Andrew Cuomo either,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I think Andrew Cuomo was a terrible governor of New York. I don&#8217;t understand for the life of me why the mayoralty of New York came down to the guy who killed all the old people and grabbed ass and ran out of old people, and an outright third-worlder, I don&#8217;t understand.&#8221;
&#8220;When I say third world, I mean like as a philosophy,&#8221; he clarified. &#8220;Like Zohran Mamdani is a third-worldist, meaning he believes that all the poor places on earth are the fault of Western civilization. The far-Left outlet Teen Vogue will no longer operate as a standalone publication, with Condé Nast announcing plans to fold it into its flagship digital brand, Vogue.com.
The NewsGuild of New York and Condé Union both condemned the move, which <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/teen-vogue-layoffs-politics-team-election-day-social-reactions/">reportedly</a> led to 75% of staffers being laid off, including the entire political editorial staff. They also complained about who in particular lost their jobs.
“Management plans to lay off six of our members, most of whom are BIPOC women or trans, including Teen Vogue’s Politics Editor — continuing the trend of layoffs at Condé disproportionately impacting marginalized employees,” a joint statement from the unions <a href="https://x.com/condeunion/status/1985488830019907664">said</a>.
“As of today, only one woman of color remains on the editorial staff at Teen Vogue. Condé leadership owes us — and Teen Vogue’s readership — answers. We will get those answers. And we fight for our rights as workers with a collective bargaining agreement as we fight for the work we do, and the people we do it for,” the statement said.
The Vogue business team said in a letter that this “transition” is “part of a broader push to expand the Vogue ecosystem,” and claimed that the new, merged version of Teen Vogue, “will remain a distinct editorial property, with its own identity and mission,” per <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/11/teen-vogue-merger-vogue-conde-union-condemns-layoffs-1236606081/">Deadline</a>. 
“We are looking forward to this new chapter. In our increasingly fragmented media landscape, making all Vogue — Teen Vogue and Vogue Business — accessible in one place sets us up for growth,” Vogue’s head of editorial content, Chloe Malle, said in a statement.
Teen Vogue launched in 2003 as a sister publication to Vogue, targeting a younger demographic of women. The magazine is known for pushing a far-Left agenda on topics such as abortion, climate change, President Donald Trump, and a host of other political issues.
In 2020, Teen Vogue <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/teen-vogue-writer-argues-for-abolition-of-property?author=Jon+Brown&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Teen+Vogue+Writer+Argues+For+Abolition+Of+Property">published</a> an op-ed advocating for the abolition of personal property and the dismantling of police departments.

Having access to abortion should be your right, regardless of your parents’ beliefs.”
“You know your parents best: Do you fear for your safety if you reveal your pregnancy?” the article asked. “Are you worried they might meet you with violence or kick you out of the house? If yes, there is a legal option in 36 states that would let you get an abortion without parental approval called a judicial bypass procedure — an infantilizing holdup to which nobody should have to resort.”
“Everybody loves someone who’s had an abortion. Including you,” the article concluded.

In a <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/11/04/bbc-arabic-bias-pushed-hamas-lies/">blistering internal report</a> that reads like an indictment of the BBC’s own integrity, whistleblower documents reveal that BBC Arabic deliberately downplayed Israeli suffering in the Gaza war while racing to air unverified, Hamas-sourced claims designed to cast the Jewish state as the villain. The memo, written by Michael Prescott, a former adviser to the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines Committee, accuses the Arabic service of systemic bias, misinformation, and a shocking tolerance of antisemitic voices.
According to the report, BBC Arabic repeatedly parroted Hamas talking points while omitting or minimizing Israel’s perspective — even when evidence contradicted militant propaganda. Allegations against Israel were rushed to broadcast “without adequate checks,” suggesting not mere carelessness but, as Prescott wrote, “a desire always to believe the worst about Israel.”
The BBC’s English-language coverage told one story; its Arabic wing, quite another. In July 2024, after Hezbollah rockets killed nine children in the Israeli town of Majdal Shams, the BBC’s English site mentioned the victims and Israel’s retaliation. BBC Arabic? It omitted the children’s deaths entirely, highlighted Hezbollah’s denials, and the next day suggested Israel might have faked the attack.
Prescott’s letter accuses BBC Arabic of providing a platform to extremists who openly glorify violence against Jews. One contributor, Samer Elzaenen — who once posted “We shall burn you as Hitler did” — appeared on the network 244 times. Another, Ahmed Alagha, who called Jews “devils” and “not human beings,” appeared more than 500 times. Yet BBC executives defended these individuals as “eyewitnesses,” not staff reporters. Prescott wasn’t buying it: “Most viewers would consider hundreds of appearances… to amount to being part of the BBC’s reporting team.”
The report also blasted the BBC for amplifying Hamas propaganda about Gaza’s death toll, long after the United Nations revised down its own inflated statistics. BBC Arabic continued to treat Hamas-run agencies as credible sources, even after internal reviewers warned that claims of Israeli “mass graves” and “genocide” lacked any independent verification.
In one instance, BBC coverage suggested Israeli forces buried thousands of Palestinians in hospital courtyards — a narrative later disproven, as the graves were dug by Palestinians themselves. Another blunder involved a claim that 14,000 babies were “hours from starvation,” when the real number referred to children at risk over a year. The BBC quietly corrected the article online — but repeated the falsehood the same night on “Newsnight.”
Perhaps most damning, the BBC misreported that the International Court of Justice had ruled Israel’s war a “plausible genocide.” That was false — and took months to correct. Former BBC television director Danny Cohen condemned the leadership’s response: “Having made such serious and misleading errors, BBC executives chose to hide them from the public rather than correct the record.”
When internal reviewers flagged these issues, senior managers brushed them aside. Jonathan Munro, the BBC’s news content chief, praised BBC Arabic’s “exceptional journalism” and even bragged it was “almost as trusted as Al Jazeera.” Prescott shot back: “Is Al Jazeera the new gold standard? The BBC exists to reflect British values — not echo Qatar’s propaganda outlet.”
The scandal follows another major credibility crisis for the corporation — a Panorama documentary that doctored a Donald Trump speech to make it appear he incited the Capitol riot. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy and media regulator Ofcom now face growing calls to launch a full investigation into the BBC’s bias and editorial collapse.
As the memo concludes, “The BBC is prone to claiming it gets equal complaints from both sides. But looking at the evidence, it’s hard to argue the BBC is biased toward Israel. Quite the opposite.”
At a time when Britain’s taxpayer-funded broadcaster is supposed to counter global disinformation, it is helping Hamas craft its narrative and eroding trust in one of the nation’s most sacred institutions.

Citing the lawsuit filed by Trump over a &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; interview of former Vice President Kamala Harris — just days before the 2024 presidential election — Schumer claimed that he could simply copy and paste the complaint from that lawsuit.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr flipped the script on Schumer, saying that as long as he and other Democrats insisted on voting to keep the federal government shut down, the FCC would not be able to address his complaint.

The Democrat brand, according to CNN&#8217;s chief data analyst Harry Enten, is &#8220;in the basement&#8221; — with multiple polls showing that Americans in near record numbers have an unfavorable view of the party and that no clear leader has emerged to potentially carry the Democrats through the next presidential election.
Enten delivered the news during a Monday appearance on &#8220;CNN News Central,&#8221; where he spoke with anchor Kate Bolduan about the obvious issues plaguing the Democratic Party.

The national early poll leader — 25% plus,&#8221; Enten began, noting that Democrats typically had a standout potential candidate at this point in a regular election cycle. &#8220;Normally, that’s where Democrats are. [Joe] Biden was at 25% plus in 2020. Hillary Clinton was in ’08 and ’16. [Al] Gore was in ’00 and ’04.&#8221;
&#8220;At this particular point, there is no one — no one — in the Democratic race for president who’s polling at 25% plus. The water is quite warm. If you’re a Democrat potentially thinking about running in 2028, jump right in — because at this point there is no front-runner,&#8221; Enten continued.

Bolduan pressed him on that point, asking whether he thought the lack of a clear frontrunner had any connection to the fact that so many Americans saw the party in a negative light — and Enten agreed.
&#8220;I think that that is in large part what’s going on is one of the reasons why there is no front-runner, nobody wants to put anybody up at the top of their ballot list, is because at this particular point, the Democratic brand is in the basement. It is total and complete garbage in the mind of the American public,&#8221; he explained.
&#8220;The Democratic Party’s net favorable rating — record lows in all three. Wall Street Journal, 30 points underwater. CNN, 26 points underwater. Gallup, 26 points underwater. And that is being driven in large part by discontent within the Democratic base,&#8221; Enten explained. &#8220;The Democratic base wants something different.&#8221;
