<p>A House lawmaker introduced a constitutional amendment this week that would do exactly what Daily Wire host Matt Walsh called for last month: bar foreign-born citizens from serving in Congress.</p>
<p>The proposed constitutional amendment, introduced this week by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), would require members of Congress, federal judges, and Senate-confirmed appointees to be natural-born citizens — the same standard the Constitution already sets for president and vice president.</p>
<p>In late April, Walsh <a href="https://youtu.be/OMzr9b2Rd8o?si=TkMAiOYDoYi3CnIP">proposed</a> his &#8220;heritage American Bill of Rights,&#8221; the first rule of which was intended to do exactly this:</p>
<p>&#8220;Rule number one: First-generation immigrants should not be permitted to serve in Congress at all, especially illiterate Somali ones,&#8221; Walsh said. &#8220;We already require that presidents must be natural-born citizens. And that requirement should simply be extended to Congress as well.&#8221;</p>

<p>Walsh added that &#8220;if you just got here, then you have no business telling Americans how to live their lives,&#8221; or &#8220;spend their money. &#8221;</p>
<p>Both Walsh and the amendment proposed by Mace point to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), along with the 18 other foreign-born members of Congress.</p>
<p>Members of Congress like Omar have made clear &#8220;their loyalty is not here,&#8221; Mace <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5887636-nancy-mace-amendment-foreign-born-citizens-holding-office/">said</a>. Walsh argued that first-generation immigrants like Omar have no business &#8220;complaining all the time or defaming millions of people,&#8221; adding that &#8220;it&#8217;s the height of humiliation for Americans to have to listen to a member of Congress talk about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ilhan-omar-hits-rock-bottom-with-her-dumbest-remarks-yet-as-trump-delivers-his-best-speech-ever">World War 11</a>.&#8221;</p>
<p>Mace&#8217;s proposal faces an uphill battle in its form as a constitutional amendment. Ratification would require a two-thirds vote in both the House and the Senate, followed by approval from three-fourths of the states — a bar that has not been cleared by any amendment since 1992.</p>
<p>Democrats reacted furiously to Mace&#8217;s amendment, with Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), herself a naturalized citizen born in India, <a href="https://jayapal.house.gov/2026/05/20/jayapal-statement-on-hateful-mace-legislation-to-ban-naturalized-citizens-from-government-service/">calling</a> the measure &#8220;racist legislation&#8221; and saying it &#8220;denies the very history of a country that has been proudly shaped by immigrants.&#8221;</p>
<p>In his &#8220;heritage American Bill of Rights,&#8221; Walsh further proposes deporting (or denaturalizing and then deporting) foreigners and naturalized citizens who cannot speak English or who become a net drain on taxpayers, as well as barring new citizens from voting for 10 years.</p>
<p>&#8220;We can&#8217;t prevent people from voting based on race, and we shouldn&#8217;t, and no one is suggesting that,&#8221; Walsh said. &#8220;But we can protect our institutions by taking basic steps to make sure that voters are actual adult citizens of the country who are assimilated into the culture and invested in it.&#8221;</p>
<p>Walsh calls for requiring all voters to pass a fifth-grade civics exam in English, and disenfranchising welfare recipients — even if they&#8217;re native-born U.S. citizens.</p>
<p>&#8220;If you want to vote, there has to be some legacy you want to protect,&#8221; Walsh said. &#8220;You should not be able to vote yourself money from the public treasury.&#8221;</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Your understanding of American history likely depends on what textbooks you were handed in school. Unfortunately for today&#8217;s students, textbooks are now driven by politics — and none of them tell the whole story.</span></p>
<p>Take a gander at the major textbook publishers to see how bad it&#8217;s gotten. Pearson Education <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2025/09/textbook-bias-is-a-real-problem/">recently launched</a> an initiative called Pride 365, the aim of which is to teach gay pride every day of the year. Houghton Mifflin went all-in on Black Lives Matter, and McGraw Hill has an &#8220;Equity Advisory Board.&#8221;</p>
<p>Unsurprisingly, textbook manufacturers that have embraced leftism to this extent are not portraying American history in a positive light. One popular AP U.S. History textbook <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/anti-trump-american-history-textbook-blatantly-biased-critics-say">instructs</a> students that President Donald Trump&#8217;s election was racist. Another <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2025/09/textbook-bias-is-a-real-problem/">claims</a> that the American dream is a &#8220;myth&#8221; and says the United States is one of the most unequal countries in the world.</p>
<p>Pick up a high school history textbook at random, and you&#8217;ll find some version of the same narrative: the country was founded by slave owners and built on stolen Indian land. Democrat savior Franklin Delano Roosevelt saved America from Republican boogeyman Herbert Hoover&#8217;s Great Depression with his New Deal.</p>
<p>With textbooks like these, it&#8217;s no wonder American children are quick to be ashamed of their country and accept leftist ideas and Democratic policies as inherently good and right. As long as these views dominate the American mainstream, Americans will think it&#8217;s wrong to love their country and its history.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But is any of that true? Or did the Civil Rights movement actually set the country on the wrong track? Was America the racial hellscape we were taught it was before the country passed the Civil Rights Act, or was it actually better than it is today? </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Take Martin Luther King Jr. He&#8217;s now one of the most famous figures in American history, with a federal holiday dedicated to honoring the assassinated activist. He won the Nobel Peace Prize. Is MLK really who we think he is? Was the movement he led actually about non-violence?</span></p>
<p>&#8220;He had a dream — just not the dream you thought it was,&#8221; Walsh says in a trailer for the episode. &#8220;Were his true aims a color-blind society, or something far more radical? Who bankrolled him? What unfolded behind the scenes in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963? Was civil disobedience actually peaceful?&#8221;</p>
<p>Walsh notes that he was unable to play a clip from King&#8217;s famous &#8220;I Have A Dream&#8221; speech because King&#8217;s estate has a habit of suing news outlets that play clips from the speech.</p>
<p>&#8220;What they&#8217;re doing makes it very difficult to judge Martin Luther King Jr. not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character,&#8221; Walsh says.</p>
<p>&#8220;King&#8217;s movement fundamentally transformed our country and our system of government,&#8221; he adds. &#8220;These questions demand answers, and as Americans we are entitled to a full accounting of King&#8217;s movement.&#8221;</p>

You look at his manifesto, and it&#8217;s, yeah, it&#8217;s all the mainstream Democrat talking points, but it&#8217;s just so, so lame.&#8221;</span></p>
<p>Asked to weigh in on the news that former <span style="font-weight: 400;">FBI Director James Comey had been indicted a second time for making threats against President Donald Trump, Knowles said the move was &#8220;a very good start.&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I want Hassan Piker arrested. I want all of the elected officials, the Democrats, the media figures who have called for violence against conservatives. I want them to be prosecuted. I want them to know that will not stand in America,&#8221; Knowles told the packed auditorium. &#8220;We&#8217;ve got a great start with this administration, and we need a lot more of it.&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The event, hosted by the University of Idaho&#8217;s TPUSA Chapter, is one of five college campuses that Turning Point USA visited in April to honor the legacy of its founder, Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated at Utah Valley University last September.</span></p>
<p>Throughout the night, members of the audience stepped up to question Walsh and Knowles. One, a transgender-identifying activist, accused Walsh of misrepresenting a graph that shows what percentage of mass shooters are transgender.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Well, first of all, I think, as someone who believes that women have penises, you&#8217;re not one to lecture people for lying,&#8221; Walsh said. &#8220;Now I think the real fundamental issue here is that transgenderism itself is a lie. It&#8217;s a falsehood.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The debate then turned to gender ideology and children. Walsh laid out what behavior he believes constitutes child grooming.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;When I have used the word groomer to refer to leftists, I have done it in specific cases where they are having drag queens perform for children, or where children themselves are dressing up like drag queens and performing for adults, or where children are being chemically castrated and sexually mutilated,&#8221; Walsh said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The activist pushed back.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I mean, quite literally, I&#8217;ve watched drag shows at like, old folks homes and stuff like that,&#8221; the student said. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Now you&#8217;re grooming granny, too?&#8221; Walsh joked. &#8220;Why? Why have drag queens around kids at all? Why do that?&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The discussion moved to the looming November midterms. Walsh conceded some foreign policy divisions within the Republican Party, but encouraged students to use their voice to oppose any policy disagreements, regardless of who&#8217;s in the White House.</span></p>

And it&#8217;s like, we do it, and then we immediately move on. That doesn&#8217;t really matter. Let&#8217;s find something else to complain about, Walsh said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Because conservatives can never be happy,&#8221; Knowles interjected. &#8220;It&#8217;s like, one of the most charming things about us.&#8221;</span></p>
