Cookbook author <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/martha-stewart">Martha Stewart</a> is very unhappy with the final version of her new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/netflix">Netflix</a> documentary, “Martha,” claiming she made requests that director R.J. Cutler did not honor.
“Those last scenes with me looking like a lonely old lady walking hunched over in the garden? Boy, I told him to get rid of those,” the 83-year-old celebrity <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/30/movies/martha-stewart-netflix-documentary.html?partner=slack&amp;smid=sl-share">told</a> The New York Times in an interview published Wednesday. “And he refused. I hate those last scenes. Hate them.”
Stewart said she was happy with parts of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">project</a>, including the first half, but took issue with some elements that made the final cut. The TV personality especially didn’t care for how much of the documentary focused on her trial and time spent in prison for her involvement in an insider trading scheme.

“It was not that important,” Stewart told the outlet. “The trial and the actual incarceration was less than two years out of an 83-year life. I considered it a vacation, to tell you the truth… the trial itself was extremely boring. Even the judge fell asleep. R.J. didn’t even put that in. The judge was asleep at the bench. I wrote it in my diary every day.”
The celeb called out other decisions, including Cutler’s choice not to include her grandchildren, or take most of the material used in the documentary from her personal archive. Stewart had also requested that the project include rap music.
“I said to R.J., ‘An essential part of the film is that you play rap music.’ Dr. Dre will probably score it, or [Snoop Dogg] or Fredwreck. I said, ‘I want that music.’ And then he gets some lousy classical score in there, which has nothing to do with me,” she added.
Even though she’s not happy with it, Stewart said she hopes the documentary will positively impact viewers. 
“So many girls have already told me — young women — that watching it gave them a strength that they didn’t know they had,” she told NYT. “And that’s the thing I like most about the documentary. It really shows a strong woman standing up for herself and living through horror as well as some huge success.”
Cutler has yet to address Stewart’s criticisms but has said he’s “really proud” of the film. “I admire Martha’s courage in entrusting me to make it. I’m not surprised that it’s hard for her to see aspects of it,” the director said.

The 83-year-old lifestyle brand founder bragged that it was “very easy” to keep her infidelity under wraps. “You have to be circumspect,&#8221; Stewart told Lee Brian Schrager while celebrating the publication of her 100th book Wednesday night, per a video released by <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-13970903/martha-stewart-easy-cheating-secret-marriage-husband.html">The Daily Mail</a>.
The affair was revealed earlier this month as part of the trailer for her new Netflix documentary, “Martha.” Stewart admitted she had an affair while married to Andrew Stewart, who she was with from 1961 until 1990. 
&#8220;Young women, listen to my advice, if you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s***,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">Stewart</a> said in the trailer. &#8220;Get out of that marriage.&#8221; 
This declaration prompted a producer to ask, &#8220;Didn’t you have an affair early on?&#8221; Stewart replied, &#8220;Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.&#8221;
Stewart started dating her former husband when she was just 19, and he was 23 after being set up on a blind date. Together they have one daughter, Alexis, who was born in 1965.

Stewart <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/martha-stewart-anthony-hopkins-b1997725.html">reportedly</a> broke up with Hopkins after seeing the film “The Silence of the Lambs” because she couldn’t stop picturing him as Hannibal Lecter. 
The documentary follows Stewart’s rise to fame, plus her marriage and incarceration for insider trading. &#8220;What does it mean to be the first female self-made billionaire in history?&#8221; Stewart asks at the beginning of the trailer. 
Stewart said she was &#8220;considered crazy&#8221; early on, &#8220;but it worked.&#8221; Stewart started as a stockbroker after a brief modeling stint. She founded a catering business in the 1970s that led to her first cookbook, &#8220;Entertaining,&#8221; in 1982. 
The media brand owner served time in Alderson Federal Prison Camp, a minimum security facility in West Virginia, between 2004 and 2005. She was convicted on multiple felony charges, including conspiracy and obstruction of justice in conjunction with the ImClone stock insider trading scandal in 2001.

During an interview for <a href="https://www.aarp.org/politics-society/history/info-2023/aarp-magazine-bonus-issue.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AARP magazine&#8217;s 65th anniversary bonus issue</a>, the 82-year-old lifestyle entrepreneur <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/martha-stewart-brutally-honest-aging-regret-what-she-thinks-is-bulls" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opened up</a> about getting older and made it clear worrying about retiring or slowing down isn&#8217;t something she thinks about.
&#8220;Aging isn&#8217;t something I think about,&#8221; Stewart said. &#8220;How old I am, slowing down, retiring — I just don&#8217;t dwell on that. People talk about aging successfully, but I think of it as living gracefully and living to the absolute fullest.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m about trying new things and learning new things every single day,&#8221; she added. &#8220;Staying fresh, being interesting and interested. Staying curious, staying busy, developing new friendships.&#8221;

&#8220;And at age 77, I stopped wearing glasses after wearing corrective lenses from the time I was 16,&#8221; Stewart said. &#8220;I&#8217;m not bragging about it. Something weird happened. I got an infection in my eyes, and my doctor gave me steroids for it, and the result was 20/20 vision. They call it second sight. I&#8217;m pretty fortunate.&#8221;
Despite her workout routine, the TV personality said she doesn&#8217;t shy away from having fun like traveling, hiking etc., and said she works &#8220;hard every day on things that challenge me and invigorate me.&#8221;

&#8220;The idea is that aging is not about dying; it&#8217;s about living well,&#8221; she added. &#8220;Because people are aging so differently now. The average life span has increased. By 2034, there will be more people over 65 than under 18.&#8221;
On top of her usual schedule, Stewart said she&#8217;s writing an autobiography, working on a documentary about her life, and her 100th recipe book, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/martha-stewart-brutally-honest-aging-regret-what-she-thinks-is-bulls" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> noted.
&#8220;These are big, difficult, years-long projects, but I don&#8217;t want to have regrets, or &#8216;would&#8217;ve, could&#8217;ve, should&#8217;ve,&#8217; which is a horrible feeling,&#8221; Martha told the outlet.
And as far as her legacy, Stewart said she&#8217;ll be happy if in 100 years someone asks another person, &#8220;Did you make Martha&#8217;s apple pie? Because it really is the best recipe.&#8221;

Earlier this week, the 82-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">television personality</a> posted photos of herself on a cruise, including a snapshot of herself holding a beverage while smiling and another of a huge chunk of ice sitting on a cart. 
“End of the first zodiac cruise from @swanhelleniccruises into a very beautiful fjord on the east coast of greenland (sic). We actually captured a small iceberg for our cocktails tonight,” Stewart wrote in the image caption.

&#8220;Martha the ice caps are melting don’t put them in your drink,&#8221; one account posted.
&#8220;I generally love Martha and the excesses of her life because she&#8217;s about beautiful gardens, homes, and food, but wealthy white people drinking their iceberg cocktails while the planet is in flames is a bit tone deaf,&#8221; another social media user fumed.
&#8220;Martha I love ya. But weren’t you just talking about climate change with your wash out on your driveway in NY? Melting icebergs for a cocktail surely won’t help. I’m not even going to talk about the boat you’re on and how that can’t be good for climate change either,&#8221; a third echoed. 
“So tone deaf. The rich do not care that people have been burned out of homes and the ocean is boiling. More yachts and private jets huh?” another said.
There were also many followers mocking Stewart’s critics. 
“Use that ice in some whiskey!! Screw the naysayers and drink it what way you like!” one account posted.

Stewart also made headlines and drew mixed reviews in May when she became the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/martha-stewart-becomes-oldest-model-in-si-swimsuit-history-with-latest-cover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">oldest cover model</a> to appear on the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. 
“Usually I’m motivated by pay. But this time I was motivated by showing people that a woman my age could still look good, feel good, be good,” Stewart said of agreeing to the photo shoot. “I thought that this is kind of historic and that I better look really good.”
“That’s one of my mottos, when you’re through changing, you’re through,” she continued. “Change is very good. Evolution is very good, just trying new things.”

The 81-year-old TV personality/businesswoman — who&#8217;s known for her strict beauty regimen — hit back at critics of her cover and said it&#8217;s not true she&#8217;d ever gone under the knife, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/martha-stewart-confesses-pose-playboy-sports-illustrated-cover">Fox News</a> reported.
&#8220;Well, it’s not true,&#8221; Stewart said. &#8220;I’ve had absolutely no plastic surgery whatsoever.&#8221;
The home entrepreneur said she worked hard to get ready for the cover and shared what she&#8217;s done to take care of her skin all these year to keep its youthful look.
&#8220;I have very healthy, good hair,&#8221; Stewart said. &#8220;I drink green juice every day. I take my vitamins. I eat very healthfully. I have very good skin doctors.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m very careful in the sun,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I wear hats and I wear sunblock every single day.&#8221;
&#8220;I had my regular facials but maybe more frequently and I also got a spray tan … I’m not a hairy person, but I got a complete body wax,&#8221; Stewart continued.
However, the author admitted, &#8220;Every now and then there are certain fillers that I can do for a little line here or there, but I hate Botox.&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s a weird thing for me,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I really and truly don&#8217;t do a lot.&#8221;

Speaking to <a href="https://www.today.com/video/martha-stewart-is-sports-illustrated-s-2023-swimsuit-cover-model-174399045701">NBC&#8217;s</a> &#8220;Today&#8221; show when the cover was revealed, Stewart said that she was motivated to do it to inspire others.
&#8220;Usually I&#8217;m motivated by pay. But this time I was motivated by showing people that a woman my age could still look good, feel good, be good,&#8221; Stewart said. &#8220;I thought that this is kind of historic and that I better look really good.&#8221;

There’s an ongoing debate about whether <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/christmas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christmas</a> celebrations should begin in early November or after the Thanksgiving holiday, and now <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/martha-stewart" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Martha Stewart </a>and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mariah Carey</a> are entering the fray.
Stewart made her opinion known during a recent appearance on the &#8220;TODAY&#8221; show. She called out Carey as someone who starts talking about Christmas the day after Halloween. 
“Mariah, you know me, I&#8217;m a traditionalist with a twist. And you cannot give up Thanksgiving just because you don&#8217;t like turkey,” the 81-year-old television personality shared. “I love turkey, and many, many other people love turkey. So do not think we are going to give up Thanksgiving just because you say so.”
A follow-up post on the &#8220;TODAY&#8221; show Twitter page mentioned Carey again.

Carey responded by saying she still had respect for Thanksgiving even though she’s ready for Christmas early.
“Dearest Martha!! NEVER will I give up Thanksgiving!!” Carey wrote in her <a href="https://twitter.com/MariahCarey/status/1588316900903514112">reply</a>. “But we can still start getting into the festive spirit now!” 
She continued, “P.S I’d love to have you at my Thanksgiving dinner although I’ve yet to be invited to your Thanksgiving extravaganza! And THAT is MAJOR! Esp if Snoop’s coming!”
Stewart’s original comments were no doubt a response to Carey sharing an Instagram <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CkZ0shxqtzt/">post</a> showing the singer switching out her Halloween costume for Christmas decor in an attempt to hype fans for her famous song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” 
The song has remained popular every holiday season since its release in 1994. It has sold an estimated 16 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling Christmas single by a female artist. 
Most commenters on Twitter were on Team Christmas, pointing out that most of the world doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving.
“Girl, Mariah is a global spokesperson for the Christmas season at this point. Not every country celebrates Thanksgiving or even know what that is,” one person <a href="https://twitter.com/Rhaenyra_Blacks/status/1588379096186499073" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shared</a>.

Handler kicked off the conversation by asking Stewart whether she had any romantic prospects on the horizon.
&#8220;Speaking of men, what&#8217;s going on in your love life these days?&#8221;
&#8220;Nothing,&#8221; Stewart&#8217;s reply was adamant, and she shook her head for emphasis. &#8220;Absolutely zero &#8230; I had two mad crushes in the last month, which is really good for me. But it turns out, you know, one of them is married to the mother of some friends of mine and I just — he’s so attractive.&#8221;
&#8220;You know, you can’t be a home wrecker,&#8221; Handler interjected.

&#8220;Or maybe they’ll die,&#8221; Stewart suggested. &#8220;I always think, oh gosh, couldn’t that person just die.&#8221;
&#8220;The wife?&#8221; Handler queried.
&#8220;Yeah! Not — not painfully. Just die … But it, it hasn’t worked out,&#8221; Stewart added.
Stewart, who is 80, also weighed in on the aging process during the podcast, telling Handler how she really feels about it. &#8220;I don&#8217;t think about age or aging. I do not think about it,&#8221; she said. &#8220;My favorite thing about getting older is absolutely not one thing.&#8221;

Like so many celebrities, the domestic diva is not pleased with the overturning of Roe v. Wade in a landmark Supreme Court decision Friday. Though six justices concurred on the Dobbs v.s. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, Thomas is getting the brunt of the criticism from all angles. 
It all started when popular Instagram account thefatjewish <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CfNYHtoMzT3/?hl=en">posted</a>, “Time zones are crazyyy…In Australia its 9am, In Rome it’s 1am, and in America it’s 1942 where minorities and women are still controlled by old white men.”
The caption said, “Forget all the obvious reasons why decrepit old men who jizz actual dust (and Amy Coney Barrett, who’s vagina is a chainsaw with teeth) shouldn’t be making laws that control women’s bodies, without abortion there would be like 3-4 of my demon spawn running around AND I THINK AS A NATION WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT NOBODY NEEDS ME PROCREATING.”
Stewart wrote in a now-deleted comment, “and an old black man who doesn’t know who he is,” appearing to reference Thomas.
Commenters were mixed in their support and disgust for Stewart’s post.
The Shade Room posted a screenshot of the interaction, asking followers if they agreed or disagreed with the 78-year-old “Martha Stewart Living” host or believed her words were racist, as some critics asserted.
“Oop! Looks like #MarthaStewart took a shot at #ClarenceThomas! Martha commented on a recent post from #TheFatJewish and some people find her response to be racist. Thoughts, #Roomies?” the account <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CfPEQ6El_87/">posted</a>.
The comments seemed mostly supportive of Stewart&#8217;s words. 
“Martha said what needed to be said. EVERY criticism is not rooted in racism,” the top comment, with more than 27,000 likes, said.
“So racism is now okay when it&#8217;s directed to someone that holds a different political opinion. I got it. Obama is next,” one commenter pointed out.
Stewart wasn’t the first star to attack Thomas. Actor Samuel L. Jackson also launched racial attacks against the Supreme Court justice Friday following the announcement that abortion laws would return to individual states.
“How’s Uncle Clarence feeling about Overturning Loving v Virginia??!!” Jackson <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/samuel-l-jackson-invokes-racial-slur-goes-after-justice-clarence-thomas-marriage-after-abortion-decision">posted</a> to Twitter.
“Uncle Clarence” is likely a reference to “Uncle Tom,” a racial term often used to mock black Americans who have views that differ from popular opinion in the black community. Merriam-Webster defines “Uncle Tom” as “a Black person who is overeager to win the approval of whites.”

Actors are typecast all the time but usually it’s by their fans, not other celebrities. But entertainment guru Martha Stewart is admitting that even she wasn’t immune to actor Anthony Hopkins playing his most famous role as cannibalistic Hannibal Lecter in “Silence of the Lambs.” Hopkins was so convincing as that character that it wound up costing him a chance at love.
The 80-year-old “Martha Stewart Living” host revealed the story behind their breakup during a conversation on “The Ellen Show.” While participating in a variation of the game &#8220;Two Truths and a Lie&#8221; called, &#8220;Where&#8217;s the Lie, Martha?&#8221; Stewart gave the clue, &#8220;I dated Sir Anthony Hopkins but broke up with him because I couldn&#8217;t stop thinking of him as Hannibal Lecter.&#8221;
Ellen DeGeneres incorrectly guessed that the Hopkins clue was a lie. But Stewart surprised her by saying it was the truth. 
&#8220;I have a big, scary house in Maine that&#8217;s way by itself on 100 acres in the forest, and I couldn&#8217;t even imagine taking Anthony Hopkins there,&#8221; Stewart explained to DeGeneres. &#8220;I couldn&#8217;t — all I could think of was him eating, you know&#8230;&#8221;
The talk show host asked Stewart if she broke up with Hopkins &#8220;because of that,&#8221; and she confirmed, &#8220;Yeah.&#8221;
Stewart didn’t elaborate on when she dated Hopkins or how serious the relationship was before she decided to move on. But it was likely prior to Hopkins marrying his third wife Stella Arroyave in 2003. 
The “Martha &amp; Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” host got divorced from husband Andrew Stewart in 1990. According to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/21/entertainment/martha-stewart-anthony-hopkins-hannibal-lecter-intl-scli-gbr/index.html">CNN</a>, she played coy about dating Hopkins in the past, saying they “went out to dinner” but “a girl should kiss and never tell.”
Meanwhile, Hopkins may have lost out on a potential romance, but he did earn accolades for his portrayal as a creepy cannibal. The Welsh actor earned an Academy Award in 1992 for playing the character Hannibal Lecter. Plus, he reprised his role in the 2001 film “Hannibal” and the 2003 prequel “Red Dragon.”
The actor revealed to Vanity Fair how he created the iconic Hannibal&#8217;s voice and demeanor. Hopkins told the publication he modeled the character after Christopher Fettes at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. 
&#8220;There was a teacher we had, a Stanislavsky method teacher, and he was lethal. He would just take you apart intellectually,&#8221; the actor said. &#8220;He&#8217;d just smirk, and he&#8217;d say, &#8216;No. Do it again&#8217;&#8230; I based it on him: &#8216;No, Clarice.'&#8221;
Hopkins said Fettes was a man with &#8220;a cutting voice&#8221; that could &#8220;slice you to pieces,” making him the ideal model for a cannibalistic psychopath. &#8220;His analysis of what you were doing was so precise; it&#8217;s a method that stayed with me for all of my life,&#8221; Hopkins said, according to <a href="https://variety.com/2021/film/news/silence-of-the-lambs-anthony-hopkins-jodie-foster-1234887270/">Variety</a>.
He made his physical appearance very deliberate as well. To portray Hannibal, Hopkins slicked back his hair, while director Jonathan Demme had the idea to make the character pale and advised the actor to stay out of the sun.
&#8220;After my first make-up session, I went to the mirror and thought – &#8216;this is it&#8217;,&#8221; Hopkins said.
The look was so convincing, it kept Stewart from dating him.
