Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jd-vance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">JD Vance</a> (R-OH) slammed Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a>’ billionaire surrogate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mark-cuban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mark Cuban</a> over his “insulting” comment about how “you never see him [Trump] around strong, intelligent women. Ever. It’s just that simple.”
“First of all, it&#8217;s insulting my wife, who&#8217;s a very strong and very intelligent woman, and goes to nearly every one of my campaign events with me,” Vance said in a pre-recorded interview for Sirius XM’s “<a href="https://x.com/SiriusXMPatriot/status/1852087981198196922" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Breitbart News Saturday</a>” with host Matt Boyle.
“And it&#8217;s insulting to Lara Trump, who&#8217;s done an incredible job as co-chair of the RNC,” he added. “It&#8217;s insulting to Melania, who has the number one New York Times bestselling book right now. It&#8217;s insulting to everybody who thinks that our politics should be about public policy that makes people&#8217;s lives better instead of attacking your fellow citizens.”
“Whether it&#8217;s Mark Cuban or Kamala Harris, or, you know, Joe Biden &#8212; why are these people so preoccupied with denigrating and insulting and condescending their fellow citizens?” Vance continued. “If you are pissed off that Kamala Harris opened the border, you have every right. Trump’s running mate’s comment came after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-slammed-after-calling-74-million-americans-garbage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Biden</a> called tens of millions of Trump supporters “garbage.” It happened on Tuesday during a Zoom call with Latino supporters when Biden referenced remarks an insult comedian made at Trump’s rally in Madison Square Garden.

Cuban, in an effort to portray former President Donald Trump as weak and insecure, instead managed to insult all the women who had ever worked closely with or appeared alongside Trump when he claimed that the former president never surrounded himself with &#8220;strong, intelligent women.&#8221;
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/run-with-this-kamala-mouthpiece-mark-cuban-dragged-for-saying-only-stupid-women-like-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">backlash was swift</a>, prompting Cuban to &#8220;clarify&#8221; his statement — claiming that he only meant Trump didn&#8217;t allow &#8220;strong, independent women&#8221; to be around him when he might be &#8220;challenged publicly&#8221; — just hours later.

He doesn&#8217;t like to be challenged by them.&#8221; Conway, a GOP strategist who helped lead Trump&#8217;s 2016 presidential campaign to victory and later served as a top aide in his White House, responded to Cuban during a <a href="https://grabien.com/story.php?id=498528" target="_blank" rel="noopener">phone interview</a> with Fox News.
&#8220;It just shows how desperate and concerned they are that they are not certain that they’re supporting a strong, intelligent woman for president,&#8221; Conway said, adding that Harris is &#8220;down in the polls or maybe tied. And I’m standing here from the Ellipse with the White House in the background without a teleprompter, because I’m able to speak with you. The place where I worked for four years for President Trump.&#8221;
Conway alluded to her <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgwOm19_3zo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">speech</a> to the Republican National Convention, when she talked about a senior staff meeting in the White House, and mentioned other women who worked with in the Trump administration, including: Brooke Rollins, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Mercedes Schlapp, and Trump&#8217;s daughter Ivanka Trump.

Conway talked about how Cuban&#8217;s remarks were just the latest to disparage Trump&#8217;s supporters, shortly after President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a> called them <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-declares-trump-supporters-are-garbage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;garbage&#8221;</a> this week. And Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump in the 2016 presidential election, <a href="https://time.com/4486502/hillary-clinton-basket-of-deplorables-transcript/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">described</a> her rival&#8217;s backers as being &#8220;irredeemable&#8221; and in a &#8220;basket full of deplorables.&#8221;
She said: &#8220;It really doesn’t matter to me what desperate people say. What I care about is defending the tens of millions of strong, intelligent women who are going to vote for Donald Trump next Tuesday and already have. And whether it’s Joe Biden calling us &#8216;garbage&#8217; or mega MAGA extremists, Hillary with the &#8216;deplorable,&#8217; &#8216;irredeemable,&#8217; and now Mark Cuban questioning that women around Donald Trump would not be strong or intelligent. They are losing this election based on their elitism and their direct insults to the American people.&#8221;

All that remains of the Kamala Harris campaign is vibes.
That catalyzed a short debate between me and Mark Cuban, the billionaire minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks.
A recent clip showed Harris at a hard Left-wing spices shop in Pennsylvania, hugging some crying lady.
I made fun of it because it was ridiculous. Ridiculous. This whole “Mamala, we need a hug from our president” vibe is garbage.

Because guess what? I have a family. I have four little kids. They hug me every single day. It’s great. I have a wife. We hug all the time. It&#8217;s wonderful. I have parents. We hug too. I have sisters, nieces, and nephews. Lots of hugs all around.
I don&#8217;t give a damn about being hugged by Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, Kamala Harris, Doug Emhoff, or Tim Walz. I don&#8217;t want any of those people hugging me, just like I don&#8217;t want my plumber hugging me.
These are people who are delegated a power to do a job. I don&#8217;t need them to come over and hug me. I need them to do their job.

Harris has been vice president of the United States for the last three and a half years, and she&#8217;s presided over the complete meltdown of American foreign policy, the cleaning out of the base of our military, the fraying of the social fabric in the United States, and the emptying out of the American middle class.
She&#8217;s presided over all of those activities. Why should anyone care if she&#8217;s hugging randos at a spice shop in Pennsylvania?
But this is what the Harris campaign has to run on. They have to run on the vibes.
Mark Cuban, the aforementioned Kamala Harris supporter, has a habit of ignoring everything bad that Harris says and pretending it doesn&#8217;t exist. He&#8217;ll go on national TV and freely acknowledge that her idiotic idea to tax unrealized capital gains would destroy the American economy. And then he’ll say, “Well, it&#8217;s never going to happen, so who cares?”
So Cuban <a href="https://x.com/mcuban/status/1833177670378782939" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a> at me, “If you don&#8217;t want a presidential candidate capable of hugging, please seek psychological help. Empathy and kindness are skills that are possessed by great leaders in 2024.”
“Capable?” That’s a hell of a straw man, considering my original tweet read: “If you want your presidential candidate to hug you, please seek psychological help.”
Then, I <a href="https://x.com/benshapiro/status/1833203750321983994" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a> to him in return, “I would imagine nearly all presidential candidates, being humans, are capable of hugging. The fact that Cuban believes the signal quality to search for in a politician is empathy and kindness, as opposed to competence, is amazing. If we are a country that has been relegated to needing a hug or seeking spiritual fulfillment from the people who run for president, we are in trouble. It is precisely the opposite that the Founders sought to establish.

The Founders did not see the government as a thing to hug. The government is not your mommy nor your daddy. No one needs a government mama or a government daddy. No one.
You need a mom and a dad. Then, you need a president very far away who does what is described in Article II of the Constitution of the United States.
Those are the things you need. If you are seeking spiritual solace or emotional fulfillment in a candidate like Harris, the emptiest vessel in the history of the modern American Republic, I reiterate my original tweet and suggest, once again, that psychological help is needed.
That’s true, by the way, on all sides of the aisle.
I don&#8217;t want a hug from Donald Trump. I want him to threaten America&#8217;s enemies and free up America&#8217;s economy. That&#8217;s what I want Trump to be doing.
This whole thing is ridiculous.
Look at the propaganda in any fascist state, any communist state. It is all about the “joy” and the “hugs.” Every poster shows the “great leader” hugging children.
I don&#8217;t want these people anywhere near my kids. That is not their job.
I just want them to do their job.
And Kamala Harris is not capable of doing that job.

There are a lot of ways you can tell that a political campaign is in trouble. Of course you can look at the polls, and the various models that aggregate those polls. And right now the models do not look good for Kamala Harris. Right now, for example, Nate Silver&#8217;s model gives Donald Trump a 60% chance of winning, with a projected 277 electoral votes.

Who knows whether any of this is particularly accurate. It&#8217;ll all change by next week, most likely, and there&#8217;s still plenty of time to go. But the more interesting thing about Silver&#8217;s projection isn&#8217;t the specific figures. It&#8217;s that his data, which aggregates all the polls, shows a very clear trend. Kamala Harris is losing ground, quickly, as you can see from that chart. And it&#8217;s not hard to see why. When you&#8217;re only capable of giving one interview to a friendly news outlet in more than a month — and when you manage to bomb that interview — then people lose confidence in your campaign very quickly. And that&#8217;s what&#8217;s happening to Kamala Harris right now. She barely got a bounce from the convention. And now she&#8217;s in free fall. The media built up a elaborate hype train for Kamala, hoping it would carry her on those tracks to November. But the whole thing was so absurdly fake, so phony, that it couldn’t last. It ran out of steam. And now they’re stuck with Kamala Harris. Not the idea of Kamala Harris — the idea they constructed. But the fact of her as a person. Kamala Harris, the lame, unimpressive, inarticulate politician we all have known. 
At the same time, if you&#8217;re not a believer in polls or statistical models, there are plenty of other signs that things have taken a very bad turn for Kamala Harris&#8217; candidacy. One of them is that the campaign&#8217;s lying is becoming more flagrant and shameless by the day. There&#8217;s clear desperation everywhere you look. 
Last night for instance, Kamala&#8217;s account <a href="https://x.com/KamalaHarris/status/1831894912985657387" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a> an accusation that JD Vance had downplayed school shootings as just a &#8220;fact of life.&#8221; Here&#8217;s what Kamala&#8217;s handlers posted to her account, above a video of Vance&#8217;s speech: &#8220;School shootings are not just a fact of life. It doesn’t have to be this way. We can take action to protect our children—and we will.&#8221;
So she&#8217;s telling off JD Vance for supposedly saying that school shootings are inevitable and we should all get used to them. Predictably, the Associated Press also promoted the lie about what Vance said. They ran this headline: &#8220;JD Vance says school shootings are a &#8216;fact of life.'&#8221;

Several million people saw this smear and repeated it. The outrage machine kicked into gear, as expected. Eventually Twitter&#8217;s community notes feature corrected it, and the AP finally deleted their original post, and updated their headline. Now the AP&#8217;s headline reads very differently. It says,: &#8220;JD Vance says he laments that school shootings are a &#8216;fact of life.'&#8221; 
So they suggested that Vance was minimizing the fact that a school shooting had occurred, when in fact he was doing the opposite. As far as lies go, this one was extremely transparent. Anyone could just watch the video to see what JD Vance actually said. But the AP, and the Kamala Harris campaign, went ahead with the lie anyway. And that tells us that they&#8217;re desperate — obviously so. They&#8217;re in a very bad position and they know it. Campaigns that are confident, and surging in the polls, don&#8217;t need to invent fake quotes that are easy to disprove in about five seconds.

And for that matter, campaigns that aren&#8217;t collapsing don&#8217;t have surrogates who go wildly off-message all the time. But that&#8217;s happening to Kamala&#8217;s campaign too. People who are supposed to be promoting Kamala are, instead, sabotaging her messaging at every opportunity. 
Here for example is Joe Biden the other day, talking about the Inflation Reduction Act. This is the law that Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote on. But instead of arguing that the Inflation Reduction Act reduced inflation, Biden instead admitted that the law in fact had nothing to do with inflation. Instead he said it was a climate bill. Watch:

If you&#8217;re Kamala, that&#8217;s not exactly something you want to hear one of your surrogates say on the campaign trail. It&#8217;s an admission that Kamala Harris deceived the entire country about the one major legislative accomplishment she claims to have. And once you admit that, there&#8217;s no reason for anyone to trust her ever again. There&#8217;s certainly no reason to trust her when she says that she can implement her economic agenda — including taxing unrealized capital gains — without destroying the U.S. economy. 
And just to underscore that point, another prominent supporter of Kamala — Mark Cuban — just went on CNBC to explain that taxing unrealized capital gains would be a disaster. Watch:

Cuban went on to say that he&#8217;s supposedly spoken with Harris&#8217; team and that they now understand that taxing unrealized capital gains may not be a great idea. But that doesn&#8217;t explain why they proposed it in the first place. It also doesn&#8217;t explain why they&#8217;re still pushing it. Kamala hasn&#8217;t explained, in detail, why she still wants a tax on unrealized capital gains. Her team has walked back some of the numbers, but she&#8217;s still proposing the tax. Why is that exactly? How can she support a tax that even her own supporters recognized would be a disaster? 
We all know the answer to that question. Kamala Harris doesn&#8217;t know anything about economics. Ask her one question about unrealized capital gains and she&#8217;ll start babbling about equity. She won&#8217;t be able to defend the policy even for a moment. Everyone — even her surrogates — understands this. And now they&#8217;re comfortable coming out on television and admitting it.

These are not great signs for the Kamala Harris campaign. But maybe the worst sign of all is what took place earlier this week. Kamala received an endorsement from Liz Cheney, who recently lost her House seat by a margin that was almost unparalleled in modern politics. If there was ever an endorsement that qualified as the kiss of death, this is it.

Liz Cheney goes on and on about how Kamala Harris will save democracy and freedom in the United States. And people in the audience pretend to be excited about this endorsement. But if you go back just a couple of years, Liz Cheney had a very different perspective on Kamala Harris. She pointed out that Kamala had explicitly promised to suspend Americans&#8217; constitutional rights via executive order. She explained that Kamala Harris wants to spend trillions of dollars on universal healthcare. And she concluded that she&#8217;s a &#8220;Radical&#8221; to the left of Bernie Sanders who no one should vote for. Watch:

This is the kind of endorsement you&#8217;d probably rather refuse, if you had the choice. There is no one, on either side of the political spectrum, who covets an endorsement from Liz Cheney. But now it&#8217;s the endorsement that Kamala Harris is stuck with. This is the caliber of endorsement her candidacy is attracting, as her surrogates are publicly disavowing her policy positions. As the ship sinks, Kamala Harris is quite literally getting endorsed by the biggest losers in all of politics. 
Of course Kamala Harris has no one to blame for this but herself. Because she&#8217;s not appearing for interviews, she has to rely on surrogates to explain what she stands for, and why. Kamala Harris herself is nowhere to be found. That&#8217;s why people are still digging up clips of her speeches from several years ago, to try to figure out what a Kamala Harris administration would look like. That&#8217;s what we&#8217;re reduced to, when the candidate is incapable of speaking.

As I outlined yesterday, politicians like Kamala Harris demand censorship because without it, their candidacy falls apart. There are just too many obvious problems with her platform that don&#8217;t withstand any scrutiny. So she wants to shut down the Internet to prevent people from talking about them.

Frankly, we are now at the point where Kamala Harris would probably censor her own surrogates if she could. A candidate who isn&#8217;t capable of speaking for herself is now struggling to contain the people she&#8217;s sending out to do her messaging for her. With just a couple of months to go until the election, more than any poll or statistical model, that&#8217;s just about the worst imaginable sign for the Kamala Harris campaign. What that means is very clear, based on what we&#8217;ve seen so far: The lying, and the panic, are only going to intensify from here.

Billionaire leftist Mark Cuban and comic Jon Stewart mocked X CEO Elon Musk on The Daily Show after his interview with former President Donald Trump, prompting Musk to demolish them in return.
“I mean, look at Elon, right?&#8221; Cuban began. “Elon, in being one of the most powerful people, he’s trying to be the most influential man in the world — it sounds like a commercial — but literally, that’s what Twitter has given him.”

Cuban then accused Musk of putting his “thumb” on the proverbial scale to influence Twitter, now known as X, musing, “Cause Twitter is in almost every country, right? And so Twitter gives him the ability to connect to the prime minister, the head of every country in the world. And that person, whoever’s in charge of that country, has an interest in what happens on Twitter, and what happens on Twitter, because of the control of the algorithms, being the biggest user, is all dependent on Elon Musk. He literally, wherever his thumb wants to go, he gets to push as hard as he wants.”
“I think he’s very clear that civil war is inevitable, and that white people are under the gun,” Stewart said,
“Frightening, concerning,” Cuban guffawed, then opened the door for Musk to pulverize his argument, saying, “When you write an algorithm — I haven’t written a lot, it’s been a while — but when you write one, you get to set the parameters of what you want to see happen. And he certainly has done that to the things he likes.”

Billionaire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mark-cuban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mark Cuban</a> took some heat on Tuesday when he suggested that voters had already warmed up to Kamala Harris and they&#8217;d soon do the same with regard to her vice-presidential pick, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN).
Cuban shared his thoughts in a post on X shortly after Harris — bumped to the top of the 2024 ticket when President Joe Biden abruptly dropped out of the race amid concerns about his mental fitness and physical health — tapped Walz to join her campaign.
&#8220;On the @tim_walz choice, I think people who don’t like it are missing the lesson of the switch to Harris. She went from worst to first as people got to know her,&#8221; Cuban posted. &#8220;It’s not a reach to think the same thing will happen with Walz. People are tired of the ideologues and hate from both parties. They want to vote for normal people they can relate to. Walz can sit at the kitchen table and make you feel like you have know him forever. That’s an incredible skill these days.&#8221;

Billionaire Mark Cuban, an ardent foe of former President Trump, attributed the support Trump is getting from the moguls of Silicon Valley to their belief that his presidency would increase the value of bitcoin and make it the global currency.
Elon Musk this week announced he would donate roughly $45 million a month to America PAC, which supports Trump. “America PAC has also received donations from Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, Sequoia Capital partners Doug Leone and Shaun Maguire, Valor Equity Partners CEO Antonio Gracias, and crypto investors Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss,” The Hill <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/4777558-mark-cuban-silicon-valley-trump-bitcoin-elon-musk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a>.
“Here is a contrary opinion on the emergence of Silicon Valley support for former President Trump,” Cuban speculated. “Which like all my opinions on here, probably won’t be popular. It’s a bitcoin play. Not because the former President is a far stronger proponent of crypto. That’s nice. But doesn’t really impact the price of crypto. It makes it easier to operate a crypto business because of the inevitable, and required, changes at the SEC. What will drive the price of BTC is lower tax rates and tariffs, which if history is any guide (and it’s not always ), will be inflationary. Combine that with global uncertainty as to the geopolitical role of the USA, and the impact on the US Dollar as a reserve currency, and you can’t align the stars any better for a BTC price acceleration.”

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/white-house" target="_blank" rel="noopener">White House</a> featured billionaire and Joe Biden-supporter <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mark-cuban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mark Cuban</a> at a healthcare event on Monday, a team-up that could spell trouble for bipartisan priorities due to the billionaire&#8217;s recent high-profile defense of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives that have become toxic with conservatives.
Cuban, who has a pharmaceutical company that claims it is <a href="https://costplusdrugs.com/mission/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seeking</a> to make medicines more accessible and affordable, spoke during a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiA6hAslOFg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">roundtable discussion</a> focused on pharmacy benefit managers, better known as PBMs, that Biden administration officials argue are &#8220;prescription drug middlemen&#8221; that should be subject to more transparency in a bid to lower Rx costs.
There is a bipartisan push in Washington, D.C., to implement new restrictions on PBMs, but the involvement of Cuban — who on Monday also revealed he would back Biden for re-election in a face-off against former President Donald Trump — could make it an increasingly partisan fight. Cuban has caused a stir in the political sphere in recent months with his comments on DEI initiatives that conservatives and other detractors have lambasted as discriminatory.
In January, as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/elon-musk-mark-cuban-debate-dei-when-should-we-expect-to-see-a-short-white-asian-woman-on-the-mavs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported by The Daily Wire</a>, Cuban and fellow billionaire Elon Musk got into a social media spat over the controversial race-based hiring practice. Whereas Musk said DEI is &#8220;just another word for racism,” Cuban argued that the principles of DEI are good for businesses as well as employees.
Cuban, who used to be viewed as a political centrist, elicited more blowback a few weeks later with yet another post to X related to DEI.
&#8220;I only ever hire the person that will put my business in the best position to succeed,&#8221; Cuban <a href="https://twitter.com/mcuban/status/1751756023382052914" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;And yes, race and gender can be part of the equation. I view diversity as a competitive advantage.&#8221;
He received a response from Andrea Lucas, a commissioner for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which is tasked with <a href="https://www.eeoc.gov/overview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">enforcing federal laws</a> that make it illegal for discrimination against job applicants or workers based on their sex, race, religion, and more.
&#8220;If any employer, whether private or public, uses race or sex or any other protected characteristic, particularly race or sex, as any factor in their decision-making process for any employment decision then they&#8217;ve violated Title VII and an employee that&#8217;s been harmed can file a complaint with the EEOC and then if they get a right to sue letter, they can file in federal court,&#8221; Lucas <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/federal-commissioner-fires-back-mark-cuban-diversity-claim-warning-dei-problems" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told Fox News</a>.
Cuban&#8217;s social media commentary, particularly when it comes to DEI, has generated some consternation among the offices of Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
According to conversations The Daily Wire had with some GOP Senate staffers on Monday, any White House initiative that involves Cuban is a turnoff for Republicans — a sentiment that could extend to <a href="https://www.finance.senate.gov/chairmans-news/wyden-and-crapo-introduce-finance-committee-pbm-bill#:~:text=Washington%2C%20D.C.%20%E2%80%93%20Senate%20Finance%20Committee,practices%20in%20the%20pharmaceutical%20supply" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PBM reforms</a> being <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/4507164-government-funding-bills-leave-out-phamacy-benefit-manager-industry-changes-as-white-house-mulls-reforms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">considered</a> by the Biden administration and Congress.
One source said Cuban used to be viewed by Republican staffers as more &#8220;neutral&#8221; and someone who valued hard work, but is now not as well liked and seen as a &#8220;creature of the Left&#8221; as evidenced by his &#8220;activism&#8221; in favor of DEI.
&#8220;I can&#8217;t stand Mark Cuban. I saw the White House is trotting him out &#8230; He&#8217;s the worst possible spokesperson for them,&#8221; another staffer said.
The second GOP staffer added, &#8220;I don&#8217;t know that much about PBMs but if Mark Cuban is against them, then I&#8217;m for them.&#8221;
Cuban cast a &#8220;protest vote against&#8221; Trump  in the Texas GOP primary by casting a ballot for primary opponent Nikki Haley. He said he would not vote for Trump, even if Biden was literally on his deathbed.
“If they were having his last wake, and it was him versus Trump, and he was being given last rites, I would still vote for Joe Biden,” Cuban <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-03-04/mark-cuban-backs-biden-over-trump-in-2024-calls-for-drug-cost-reform" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told Bloomberg News</a>, alluding to concerns about the 81-year-old president&#8217;s age that have dogged his re-election campaign.

“I pastor one of Chicago&#8217;s toughest neighborhoods on the South Side and @mcuban&#8217;s defense of DEI is deeply flawed for one reason: this poisonous ideology has no impact on my community, the very community it professes to help,” Pastor Corey Brooks said.
Brooks noted that when people said DEI policies were being done in the name of his community, “Sometimes I laughed out loud at some of the claims. It was like listening to people who don’t know you talk about you as if they knew you deep down.”
He continued that Cuban’s assertion implied that the U.S. is systemically racist, adding, “I agree there is racism but not in the way that he thinks.”
“If @mcuban came into my community it wouldn’t take him long to understand that this DEI ideology is profoundly flawed, has no impact upon us, and creates more racial divisions,” he wrote. “The reality is that the countless of diversity programs that came into being since the late 1960s have been abysmal failures. Nearly every one of them, if not all, professed to have the goal of uplifting poor blacks after centuries of racial oppression. The original intent of Affirmative Action was true uplift by providing bootstraps: better schools, teachers and resources to uplift the undereducated segments of the black population.”
“However, this process of development was too slow for the many white university presidents who wanted to increase the diversity on their campuses now,” he pointed out. “They moved away from development to cold racial preferences. Diversity, not development, became the new virtue of our times. At the same time, our community was bombarded with one liberal policy after another since the 1960s.”
“Instead of embracing freedom and responsibility, too many of us allowed ourselves to be seduced into the culture of dependency. Those who could escape and make a life for themselves did and many did,” he recalled. “But for those of us who have been caught up in the multigenerational cycle of societal and governmental dependency, that is the only world they know. And we ask them to believe in the American Dream?”

The argument began Wednesday when Cuban, the former owner of the Dallas Mavericks, took exception to Musk’s definition of DEI after the X owner <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1742653436393406618">said</a>, “DEI is just another word for racism,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1742669186130755700">adding</a> that it discriminates “on the basis of race,” which “is literally the definition of racism.”
Cuban <a href="https://twitter.com/mcuban/status/1742690628465484204">responded</a> to Musk’s comment in a lengthy post on X, attempting to defend DEI in hiring practices. In his post, Cuban argued that diversity, equity, and inclusion are all good goals for companies to pursue, writing, “Having a workforce that is diverse and representative of your stakeholders is good for business.” He added, “Equity is a core principle of business. Put your employees in a position to succeed.” Cuban then gave his defense for companies focusing on equity.
“Great companies create environments that reduce unnecessary stress of their employees (I’m not talking hitting quota or getting the product out the door stress), which in turn increases productivity. This is what inclusion is all about,” Cuban wrote. “Making all employees, no matter who they are or how they see themselves, feel comfortable in their environment and able to do their jobs.”
Musk <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1742994070195094002">replied</a> to Cuban’s post on Thursday, writing, “Cool, so when should we expect to see a short white/Asian women [sic] on the Mavs?”

Musk’s question caused Cuban to post another lengthy post, attempting to explain what he meant by his defense of DEI.
“Since this seems to be the most common response, let me address it. DEI does not mean you don&#8217;t hire on merit. Of course you hire based on merit. Diversity &#8211; means you expand the possible pool of candidates as widely as you can,” said Cuban. “Once you have identified the candidates, you HIRE THE PERSON YOU BELIEVE IS THE BEST.”
“What makes the whole ‘what about the players’ comment ridiculous is that it presumes that all positions are hired based on some quantitative rather than subjective version of merit,” the billionaire businessman continued. “They aren&#8217;t. Even choosing the best basketball player is very much a guess. Which is why the best players weren&#8217;t always the first pick in the draft and some go undrafted. The reality is that most positions hired in a company don&#8217;t have a quantitative metric you can use to hire someone. How do you pick the best barista, sales assistant, marketing or salesperson, etc? More often than not it&#8217;s an educated guess.”

The two billionaires then appeared to agree on at least one aspect of looking at diversity in the hiring process.
“I do think that if merit for a given job is roughly the same, then the tiebreaker should be diversity (of all kinds),” <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1743025029900579277">said</a> Musk to which Cuban <a href="https://twitter.com/mcuban/status/1743085683969806535">responded</a>, “Which is no different than what I have been saying. You expand the candidate pool and you are going to find great people that others ignore.”
Large companies in the U.S. have integrated DEI policies into their hiring practices, causing some companies to be accused of race and sex discrimination. Technology company International Business Machines (IBM) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ibm-hosts-internships-that-bar-whites-asians-and-men-with-exception-for-men-who-identify-as-women">sponsored</a> paid internship opportunities, one of which barred white and Asian applicants, and another that was only for women, with an exception for men who identify as women.
Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blatantly-illegal-nascar-bans-white-applicants-from-diversity-internship">NASCAR</a> offered a paid “diversity internship” that excluded white people from applying, which was first reported by The Daily Wire. After the Daily Wire report, NASCAR <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nascar-takes-down-blatantly-illegal-racial-requirement-for-internship-after-daily-wire-report">removed</a> the racial requirement for its internship.
