In a video address to thousands of pro-life advocates gathered at the nation&#8217;s Capitol on Friday for the 53rd annual March for Life, President Donald Trump said his administration was bringing back faith in America.
Trump, who spoke at the March for Life back in 2020, submitted a taped message for march attendees this year that highlighted his appointment of Supreme Court judges who overturned Roe v. Wade and his push to end taxpayer funding for abortion. The president also noted his support for religious liberty protections and bringing faith back into the public square.
“Now, the work to rebuild a culture that supports life continues in every state, every community, and every part of our beautiful land,” Trump told attendees. “This is a battle that must be fought, must be won, not only in the corridors of power, but above all, in the hearts and souls of the people. That is why under the Trump administration, we&#8217;re strongly defending religious liberty. We&#8217;re bringing back faith in America. We&#8217;re bringing back God.”

Trump&#8217;s address comes as his administration has faced some criticism over its handling of abortion pill regulations and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-republicans-should-be-flexible-on-rule-that-bars-taxpayer-funded-abortions">comments</a> the president made on Republicans being flexible with the Hyde Amendment, a provision that bans taxpayer funding of abortion. In his speech and in a White House proclamation issued on Friday, Trump promised to continue fighting for &#8220;the eternal truth that every child is a gift from God.&#8221;
After Trump’s message played, Vice President JD Vance spoke to the crowd, highlighting multiple major pro-life policy announcements the administration rolled out this week.
“Building a culture of life requires persuasion, and that&#8217;s what&#8217;s so different about this moment compared to the moment that was dominated by the Supreme Court for 50 years,” Vance said. “We&#8217;re not trying to argue to the Supreme Court anymore. We are trying to argue to our fellow citizens, and we must build up that culture of life.”
Vance said that changing the culture would take a lot of time, energy, and money. He also said it would mean embracing policies that make it easier for Americans to have families.
In the lead-up to the march, the Trump administration announced multiple major pro-life policies including expanding the Mexico City policy to cut off funding for non-governmental groups that fund abortion, launching a review of whether Planned Parenthood illegally took tens of millions in COVID loans, ending funding for fetal tissue research, and taking action to protect the rights of medical professionals in Illinois to not refer for abortions.
The vice president also addressed criticism from some pro-life groups about the administration’s actions on the issue of abortion.
“I must address an elephant in the room,” Vance said, which he described as “a fear that some of you have that not enough progress has been made, that not enough has happened in the political arena, that we&#8217;re not going fast enough, that our politics have failed to answer the clarion call to life.&#8221;
Vance said that despite “debates within this movement,” there would be “open conversations about how best to use our political system to advance life, how prudential we must be in the cause of advancing human life.”

Dan Ryan, the executive director of the National Conservative Institute of Australia, says the “anti-hate” laws in particular are a serious invasion of Australian freedom of speech. According to Ryan, the new legal codes would allow the government to outlaw groups that have engaged in “hate crimes,” even if no other existing statute had been violated. Both sets of new laws ignore the real problems that led to the Bondi Beach attack. An undercover video released by Live Action ahead of the March for Life appears to show a Planned Parenthood employee telling a woman that ending the life of an unborn child is safer than giving birth.
Investigators with Live Action released an undercover video on Thursday that appears to show Planned Parenthood employees being willing to covertly ship abortion pills, and agreeing to ship pills without confirming the gestational age of the child. The video was released as part of an effort to urge the Trump administration to take action to stop the widespread mailing of the abortion drug across the country.
For the video, Live Action said it made calls to 27 different Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country and asked a number of questions about receiving the abortion drug mifepristone. The video featured recordings of the calls with investigators and Planned Parenthood employees.
In one of the calls, an employee at a Planned Parenthood in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, tells a woman it would be safer for her to end the life of her unborn child through an in-person abortion or abortion pill than to deliver it.
“I mean, I would say like both procedures are really safe and effective, but as with any medical procedure, there are some risks involved,” the employee says in the video, according to Live Action. “Of course, you know, we can talk about that more in detail with, like, a medical care provider just to get more accurate info on that, if that makes sense. But I know they’re like, they’re like, certainly like, safer than, like, you know, carrying to term, I’d say as far as that goes.”

In another video from St. Cloud, Minnesota, a Planned Parenthood employee said to a woman that she couldn’t quite tell her what she would see after taking abortion pills.
“You’re pregnant, so the abortion, you will be bleeding and cramping and blood clots to get rid of the pregnancy or get rid of the baby, you know, the pregnancy,” the person said on the call.
In other videos, individuals identified as Planned Parenthood employees by Live Action told women they wouldn’t need to get ultrasounds before getting mailed abortion pills or need follow-up appointments after taking the pills.
“Do I have to have an ultrasound?” the Live Action investigator asks a person identified as a Planned Parenthood employee in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“So, if you don’t want an ultrasound, if you’re OK not getting one, we can go ahead and move forward,” the unidentified employee responded, according to the recording published by Live Action.
In Portland, the investigator was told she could get the pills sent to her in a “confidential manner.”
“Can I do this without my parents knowing?” the Live Action investigator asked.
“Yeah, we can set it up to be confidential for you,” the Planned Parenthood employee responded.
Other investigators were told that the pills don’t “have to go right to your house” and that Planned Parenthood could “use a different address, you can put like a friend’s address or something.”
The video was released at a press conference attended by multiple Republican lawmakers, including Reps. Michael Cloud (R-TX), Mark Harris (R-NC), Troy Downing (R-MT), and Andy Biggs (R-AZ).
When reached for comment on the video, Planned Parenthood did not respond to the specific allegations but claimed to comply with all applicable laws.
“Planned Parenthood health centers that offer medication abortion follow all applicable laws and regulations and always ensure care provided reflects the latest credible research and upholds the highest standard of patient care,” Danika Severino of Planned Parenthood told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;In accordance with Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s medical standards and guidelines — which are developed and updated with medical experts across the field of sexual and reproductive health care using rigorous scientific evidence — providers at Planned Parenthood health centers explain the associated risks and benefits to patients seeking medication abortion, just as they do with every health care service provided,” she added.
The video was published in conjunction with the release of a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/LA26-The-State-of-Chemical-Abortion-01.20.26-updated.pdf">report</a> detailing the history and dangers of the abortion pill and a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary.
“Since its approval in 2000, this drug has ended the lives of approximately 7.5 million children in the United States. Live Action’s investigation now publicly documents how those regulatory failures in safety manifest in clinical practice, particularly within Planned Parenthood facilities tasked with administering this drug under federal safeguards,” Live Action President Lila Rose wrote to Kennedy and Makary.
Rose asked the officials to “reevaluate the approval and current regulatory status of mifepristone, strengthen transparency and data collection, and remove this dangerous drug from the market.”
On Thursday, Rose met with Kennedy and said that they <a href="https://x.com/LilaGraceRose/status/2014396553406886052">discussed</a> the “dangers of the abortion pill.”
Ahead of the March for Life, the Trump administration did make multiple pro-life policy moves that were praised by conservative groups. The administration ended the use of human fetal tissue in federally-funded research, expanded the Mexico City policy, cutting funding for abortion abroad, and took actions to protect the rights of doctors in Illinois to not perform abortions.
Those moves were praised by the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America organization, which also demanded that they reverse Biden-era guidelines that allowed the abortion pill to be sent through the mail. These regulations have enabled activists to ship abortion pills into states where medication abortions are technically illegal.
“The abortion rate has gone way up over a million at least as far as we can track,” SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said on a press call attended by The Daily Wire. “They&#8217;re going up in these states because the abortion drugs, of course, through the mail, anyone can order them, they&#8217;re flooding [to] every boyfriend, every trafficker, every woman who orders them.”

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration is ending the use of human fetal tissue in federally-funded research, The Daily Wire can first report.
Effective immediately, National Institutes of Health funds will no longer be used for research that involves the fetal tissue of aborted babies. That policy will apply to all NIH grants, cooperative agreements, transaction awards, research and development contracts, and the NIH Intramural Research Program.
The move is a significant win for the pro-life movement, which has long pushed for the United States to respect the dignity of the unborn, whose tissue is bought by researchers after abortions. Under the first Trump administration, the president banned intramural use of aborted fetal tissue, meaning research conducted within United States government facilities.
This time, Trump&#8217;s NIH is going further, stating that it will not fund any research involving tissue from aborted babies. The institute frames the move as a significant milestone in the Trump administration&#8217;s efforts to &#8220;modernize biomedical science and accelerate innovation,&#8221; but it comes just one day before the annual March for Life, a significant nod to the pro-life Americans gathering in Washington who have worked for years to arrive at this moment.
“NIH is pushing American biomedical science into the 21st century,” NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya said Thursday. “This decision is about advancing science by investing in breakthrough technologies more capable of modeling human health and disease. Under President Trump’s leadership, taxpayer-funded research must reflect the best science of today and the values of the American people.”

Only 77 projects using human fetal tissue were funded by NIH during the Fiscal Year 2024, declining steadily since 2019, NIH says. Simultaneously, other advances offer alternatives that can &#8220;drive discovery while reducing ethical concerns:&#8221; advances in tissue chips, computational biology, organoids, and other platforms.
In an interview with Daily Wire editor emeritus Ben Shapiro, Bhattacharya noted that the use of human fetal tissue from aborted babies has sparked arguments for years, putting &#8220;a large part of the population&#8221; in an ethical quandary. Given the significant advances in science and the plethora of alternatives, he said, there is no reason to put Americans in a position that might violate their consciences.
&#8220;Now that there is better technology, there&#8217;s no scientific harm to this, we&#8217;re still going to be able to use the science we need &#8230; while at the same time getting rid of this use of aborted fetal tissue which so many people, including me, find morally abhorrent,&#8221; Bhattacharya said.
He also pointed out that tissue can still be used for NIH-funded research if it is not specifically from an abortion.
&#8220;Someone who has had a miscarriage and wants to do a meaningful thing and they donate the tissue from the miscarriage to science, that&#8217;s still allowed,&#8221; he told Shapiro. &#8220;The only ban is on, you have an abortion specifically to terminate the baby, and then the tissue then gets sold, that&#8217;s what&#8217;s being banned.&#8221;
The administration views the move as evidence of its commitment to both scientific excellence and &#8220;responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars,&#8221; ensuring that the United States is still the &#8220;global leader in biomedical innovation&#8221; while at the same time staying true to the values of the American people.
Bhattacharya stressed this point, reminding Shapiro that certain coronavirus vaccines were developed using embryonic stem cells.
&#8220;I heard from so many people during the pandemic, Catholics and others, who had qualms about using this technology because they didn&#8217;t want to be gaining from what their moral system said was the fruit of the poisoned tree,&#8221; he explained, adding, &#8220;I completely sympathize with this.&#8221;
&#8220;In public health and in science, we should seek to produce knowledge and products that are widely available for everybody,&#8221; the NIH leader continued. &#8220;If there are large numbers of people with moral systems that say if you go down this line and use research with aborted human fetal tissue, I&#8217;m not going to participate in it&#8230;well what good was the research?&#8221;
As abortions in the United States became more common, the use of aborted baby bodies for research sparked national controversy. In the early 2000s, then-Senator Rick Santorum introduced the <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/109th-congress/senate-bill/3504">Fetus Farming Prohibition Act of 2006</a>, banning any person or entity involved in interstate commerce from soliciting or knowingly acquiring, receiving, or accepting a donation of human fetal tissue obtained through an abortion.

President George W. Bush signed that bill into law in July 2006. But anxieties over the use of aborted baby bodies continued, and in 2015 and 2016, undercover pro-life activist David Daleiden, the head of the Center for Medical Progress, <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/08/07/exclusive-kamala-harris-sent-agents-raid-pro-life-journalists-home-met-planned-parenthood-emails-show/">published videos allegedly showing</a> Planned Parenthood officials describing how they extract aborted-baby body parts and joking about compensation.
Daleiden alleged that the videos prove Planned Parenthood was selling the aborted baby body parts for profit. Planned Parenthood said he was lying, sued him, accused him of deceptively editing the videos, and claimed they were only reimbursed for costs (meaning, the expenses incurred in transportation or delivery). After heavy backlash, Planned Parenthood announced in 2015 that they would no longer accept reimbursements for costs.
Daleiden suffered through almost a decade of legal battles, led by the California Attorney General&#8217;s Office headed at the time by Kamala Harris. Xavier Becerra, who would go on to become Joe Biden&#8217;s Health and Human Services secretary, carried on that legal battle against Daleiden after Harris left office.

Ahead Of March For Life, Trump Admin Ends Funding For Research Using Aborted Baby Tissue

WASHINGTON—Vice President JD Vance will headline the March for Life next Friday in Washington, D.C., this year, The Daily Wire can first report.
Vance will speak Friday, January 23, at one of the largest human rights demonstrations in the world, which is held every year on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade in defense of the hundreds of thousands of unborn babies whose lives are ended through abortion every year in the United States.
“Vice President Vance is grateful to the tens of thousands of Americans who travel to the National Mall each year to speak out in support of life, and looks forward to joining them for the second consecutive year,&#8221; a spokesman for the vice president told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;President Trump has delivered more victories for the pro-life movement than any president in history,&#8221; the spokesman added, &#8220;and the vice president will continue to fight for the right to life alongside the president and his administration.”
This is the second time that Vance will speak at the annual March for Life. Last year, ahead of President Donald Trump&#8217;s inauguration, Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-jd-vances-first-speech-as-vice-president-to-be-at-national-march-for-life">gave his first remarks</a> as vice president to the thousands of pro-life Americans who gathered on the National Mall. He promised the march that &#8220;we will be back next year,&#8221; and he is keeping his word.

Vance, who supported the pro-life movement as both a senator and as vice president of the United States, has described himself as &#8220;100% pro-life.&#8221;
&#8220;If you’re not willing to stand up to the left on abortion, you can’t be trusted on anything else,&#8221; Vance said in 2022. &#8220;The pro-life position is the pro-people position and I’m proud to be 100% pro-life.&#8221;
Jennie Bradley Lichter, the new president of the March for Life, told The Daily Wire that the march is &#8220;thrilled&#8221; to have Vance back: &#8220;We are absolutely delighted that he&#8217;s keeping his promise and coming back to spend the day again with our pro-life marchers gathered from across the country to stand up for life.&#8221; 
Lichter believes that Vance&#8217;s presence shows that the Trump administration recognizing the pro-life movement as an important part of its coalition, and an &#8220;important part of a winning conservative coalition.&#8221; She also pointed out that in years past, the Trump administration has pegged &#8220;significant pro-life policy announcements to the March for Life&#8221; or the evening before.
&#8220;I anticipate that we will see something similar,&#8221; she shared. &#8220;I hope that the VP will be coming with some exciting news for the pro-life movement.&#8221;  
Trump himself spoke at the March for Life himself in 2019, several years before the Supreme Court overturned Roe, a massive pro-life win thanks to the president&#8217;s appointments to the Court.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, Congressman Chris Smith, and other pro-life figures will also speak at the march, <a href="https://marchforlife.org/2026lifeisagift/">which is themed</a>, &#8220;Life Is A Gift,&#8221; emphasizing &#8220;that life is very good and worthy of protection, no matter the circumstances.&#8221; 
“When we see the image of a baby in the womb, we glimpse the majesty of God’s creation,” Trump said at the 2019 march. “When we hold a newborn in our arms, we know the endless love that each child brings to a family. When we watch a child grow, we see the splendor that radiates from each human soul. One life changes the world.  From my family — and I can tell you, I send love and I send great, great love.”
Trump is the most pro-life president in United States history, holding a strong record of pro-life action since he took office: he reinstated and expanded the Mexico City Policy during his first week in office in 2017, issued a landmark pro-life rule to govern the use of Title X taxpayer funding, told Congress he would veto any legislation that weakens pro-life policies or encourages the destruction of human life, and warned the United Nations away from attacking the sovereignty of nations that protect innocent life.
&#8220;Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House,&#8221; he told the March for Life in 2019.

In his second administration, the president has continued to defend life, though he has discussed abortion far less, partially due to the fact that Roe was overturned. The president has reflected frankly on how the issue of abortion plays electorally, and pointed out that the country is not unified on when and where to protect life.
In January 2025, the president <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/enforcing-the-hyde-amendment/">issued an executive order</a> enforcing the Hyde Amendment, which bans the use of taxpayer funds for abortions, and reinstated the Mexico City Policy, which stops the use of taxpayer funds overseas. He quickly pardoned the pro-life activists imprisoned by President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration, and he has revoked many of the Biden-era executive orders promoting abortion across the country.
Far-left pro-abortion groups regard the administration with fear and condemnation. One such group, the Center for Reproductive Rights, claims that in his first 100 days in office, &#8220;President Trump has taken unprecedented action to restrict access to reproductive health care in the United States and around the world.&#8221;
&#8220;His administration is stacked with extreme opponents of reproductive freedom working day and night to undermine the rule of law we depend on to uphold our fundamental rights,&#8221; the far-left abortion group stated. &#8220;Individually, these officials have great power; together, they will do long-lasting damage to human rights and to our democracy.&#8221;
At the same time, the pro-life movement wants Trump to do much more. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/every-abortion-is-a-violation-of-human-rights-pro-life-advocates-demand-fda-yank-abortion-drug?author=Mary+Margaret+Olohan+and+Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=%E2%80%98Every+Abortion+Is+A+Violation+Of+Human+Rights%E2%80%99%3A+Pro-Life+Advocates+Demand+FDA+Yank+Abortion+Drug">Many on the right</a>, including top Republicans like Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, have expressed concerns that the Department of Health and Human Services is slow-walking a review of abortion drugs, highlighting the growing body of evidence showing that the drugs are causing severe and underreported harm to women.
Though pro-lifers are afraid that HHS will not pull through and demand that the department reinstate abortion drug safety standards removed under the Biden administration, pro-abortion groups like the Guttmacher Institute warn direly that the administration has &#8220;initiated steps that could culminate in the severe restriction of mifepristone,&#8221; promising that if the Trump administration reinstates safety standards for the drugs, &#8220;it would also have a devastating impact on abortion.&#8221;
Trump also prompted strong concerns from the pro-life movement when he suggested to Republican lawmakers this month that they might need to be &#8220;a little bit flexible&#8221; on Hyde as they negotiated with Democrats on health care.
The remark shocked both his pro-life base and Capitol Hill, prompting strong pushback from pro-life groups like SBA Pro-Life America — pushback that the administration took note of, White House officials said.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Daily Signal&#8217;s Elizabeth Troutman at an early January press briefing that Trump did not change the administration&#8217;s policy on Hyde, reminding the public that &#8220;it was President Trump who signed an executive order protecting the Hyde Amendment&#8221; on his fourth day in office.
&#8220;It’s the Trump administration that has taken multiple actions on various fronts to ensure that taxpayer dollars are not funding the practice of abortion,&#8221; she said. “What the president was saying yesterday was Republicans, and frankly Democrats, too, need to show a little bit more flexibility so we can actually get something done with respect to the issue of health care.&#8221;
Lichter sees challenges on several fronts for the pro-life movement. Not only are pro-lifers battling for policy changes, she says, but they are also battling matters of life and death for women and their unborn babies. They are also up against a changing cultural landscape.
&#8220;I think we&#8217;re still shaking off the 50 years of the Roe regime,&#8221; she explained, &#8220;and what [activists] had told young women about their future and their flourishing and how motherhood might be detrimental to them, which of course isn&#8217;t true at all, but it takes a little while to shake off cultural messaging that sunk in that deep.&#8221;
&#8220;The pro life movement has a really great story to tell,&#8221; she shared. &#8220;It&#8217;s increasingly young. It&#8217;s increasingly energized.&#8221;
The March for Life president pointed to <a href="https://www.christianpost.com/news/most-millennials-gen-z-support-limits-on-abortion-poll.html">polling</a> showing that Gen Z voters want to see limits on abortion, and lean towards identifying as &#8220;pro-life.&#8221; She cited this, as well as rising attendance at state level marches, as encouragement for pro-life movement.
&#8220;We saw record attendance at several of our state level marches for life this fall, she noted, &#8220;in the wake of Charlie Kirk&#8217;s assassination.&#8221;
&#8220;All of those things are great reasons for hope, just to see the usefulness of the movement and the way that young people especially are really willing to buck the ideology of the progressive establishment that they&#8217;ve been raised in and handed,&#8221; she concluded. &#8220;And again, I think we&#8217;ll see that on full display at the March next week. I&#8217;m expecting a really electric, really epic day.

President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> took executive actions today preventing the use of taxpayer dollars for abortions both in foreign countries and within the United States.
The first measure <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2025/01/24/exclusive_trump_revives_mexico_city_policy_rescinds_biden_abortion_initiatives_152248.html">signed by Trump</a>, a presidential memorandum referred to as the Mexico City policy, prevents taxpayer funds from being sent to foreign non-governmental organizations that perform or promote abortions. Trump also signed an executive order strengthening the Hyde Amendment, a ban on the use of federal funds for abortion.
“I further direct the Secretary of State to take all necessary actions, to the extent permitted by law, to ensure that U.S. taxpayer dollars do not fund organizations or programs that support or participate in the management of a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization,” reads the memorandum reinstating the Mexico City policy, sent out by the White House Office of Communications.
“It is the policy of the United States, consistent with the Hyde Amendment, to end the forced use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortion,” the president’s executive order on the Hyde Amendment states.
The Biden administration rescinded the Mexico City policy, though Biden was unable to overturn the Hyde Amendment. A White House official said that the move by Trump is an effort to undo Biden’s abortion policies and reinstate the status quo that existed before the Democrat took office, RealClearPolitics <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2025/01/24/exclusive_trump_revives_mexico_city_policy_rescinds_biden_abortion_initiatives_152248.html">reported</a>.
The Mexico City policy was first instated during the Reagan administration, but has been rescinded and reimplemented numerous times, with each Democrat president dropping the policy and every Republican president reinstating it. The measure ensures “that no U.S. taxpayer money supports foreign organizations that perform or actively promote abortion in other nations.”
While the Biden administration was unable to overturn the Hyde amendment, it did take several pro-abortion measures after Roe v. Wade was overturned in June of 2022. Biden promised to codify Roe into law if he was given a Democratic majority in the House and Senate, but took a range of actions through the executive branch to expand access to abortion.

His administration directed the Department of Defense to reimburse transportation costs for servicemembers traveling across state lines to receive abortions, calling the policy critical for military readiness. Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services even issued a policy ordering that unaccompanied minor pregnant illegal aliens be given transportation to receive abortions if they wanted one.
Trump’s actions come right after Vice President JD Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-jd-vances-first-speech-as-vice-president-to-be-at-national-march-for-life">took the stage</a> at the March for Life to give his first speech as vice president.

It was an emotional moment for many of the pro-lifers in the crowd — families pushing strollers and wiping their children&#8217;s faces clean, teenagers traveling with their high school teachers, priests and nuns in cheerful groups, and college students from all across the country, joking, flirting, and cheering together. This is a crowd that largely voted for Donald Trump, but many of them are single issue voters, and some were anxious when they went to the ballot box this year. Roe&#8217;s overturn had made abortion politically toxic, and they were unsure what their footing was with the former president.

Yet they trusted that if elected, Trump would once again head a pro-life administration, and they remembered that he was the most pro-life president the United States had ever seen — the man who appointed the justices who overturned Roe v. Wade.
And many of those present at the March for Life on Friday told The Daily Wire that his actions in this first week of his presidency alone have reassured them that the Trump-Vance administration will defend life throughout the next four years.

On Thursday, Trump pardoned 23 pro-life activists targeted by President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration for their pro-life advocacy. On Friday evening, shortly after the March for Life had ended, Trump <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2025/01/24/exclusive_trump_revives_mexico_city_policy_rescinds_biden_abortion_initiatives_152248.html">signed an executive order aboard</a> Air Force One banning international non-governmental organizations that promote abortions from receiving federal funding. His action reinstates the Mexico City Policy — a serious priority for many pro-lifers.
And the president himself sent a video message to the march, as he traveled to view the damage that flooding and wildfires had done to North Carolina and California.
&#8220;In my second term, we will again stand proudly for families and for life,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://x.com/TrumpWarRoom/status/1882859223740239918">promised the crowd</a>, praising the &#8220;tireless work and devotion&#8221; of the pro-life movement for helping to defeat Roe v. Wade, struck down by the Supreme Court in June 2022. He slammed Democratic extremism on abortion, pointing out that many Democrat-led states and lawmakers embrace abortion up until birth — and even allowing babies to die if they are born alive in botched abortions.
That message concluded: &#8220;To all of the very special people marching today in this bitter cold, I know your hearts are warm and your spirits are strong, because your mission is just very, very pure, to forge a society that welcomes and protects every child as a beautiful gift from the hand of our creator. Thank you for never losing hope and never giving up. Thank you for your tremendous support, God bless you, and God bless America.&#8221;
Vance emphasized his support and belief in the movement as well.
&#8220;You guys are the beating heart of the pro-life movement, and you have saved many lives already, and you&#8217;re going to save more again,&#8221; Vance told the pro-life movement on Friday. &#8220;You being here, this very march is a reminder of the incredible strength and unity of the pro-life movement and from the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you for being here, and thank you for marching here today.&#8221;
&#8220;Most importantly, in your works, you remind us that the March for Life is not just a single event that happens on a frigid January day,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The March for Life is the work of the pro-life movement every single day from this point forward.&#8221;

Vance Promises Pro-Life Movement ‘We Stand With You’ In First Vice Presidential Remarks

Today is the annual March for Life Rally in Washington, which I&#8217;ll be attending along with pro-life activists from all over the country. It&#8217;s easy to forget that our wonderful &#8220;pro-life&#8221; Republican presidents prior to Donald Trump wouldn&#8217;t even show up in person to the March For Life.
Trump was the first president to break that mold, when he became the first sitting president of either party to attend the event in person back in 2020. Then, just two years later, thanks to judges Donald Trump appointed to the Supreme Court, Roe v. Wade was overturned. A generational goal of pro-life activists was finally accomplished — sparing the lives of millions of children.
In the wake of this historic victory, Democrats retaliated. The Biden DOJ commenced a wave of illegitimate prosecutions targeted at peaceful pro-life protesters all over the country, from Washington to Tennessee to Michigan. Here&#8217;s how these prosecutions worked. First, the DOJ alleged that the protesters were violating the &#8220;FACE Act,&#8221; which protects &#8220;access&#8221; to abortion facilities. Then, the Biden DOJ invoked the &#8220;KKK Act,&#8221; otherwise known as the &#8220;conspiracy against rights&#8221; act. That&#8217;s a law that has nothing to do with abortion facilities. It&#8217;s a Reconstruction-era law that was intended to prevent the KKK from intimidating black people from voting or serving on juries.
By pairing these two laws together, the DOJ was able to pursue felony charges and extremely lengthy prison sentences for these peaceful pro-life demonstrators. Every single person attending one of these protests at an abortion facility could be accused of being a &#8220;conspirator&#8221; — even if they didn&#8217;t step foot in the facility itself. This is a legal approach that was never even considered to be possible when the FACE Act was debated in Congress, back in the early 1990s. In fact, Senator Ted Kennedy explicitly stated at the time that, &#8220;if an individual does violate this law for the first time, it is not a felony.&#8221;
That would be news to 75-year-old Paulette Harlow. She&#8217;s the mother of six children, including four kids she adopted. Harlow was sentenced last summer to 24 months in federal prison for &#8220;conspiracy against rights&#8221; and Face ACT violations. This is an obviously outrageous sentence that was issued by D.C. Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly. In particular, the judge completely ignored the fact that Harlow was in very poor health. As Harlow&#8217;s husband stated during sentencing, &#8220;I feel like Paulette is dying. In my heart, I think she’s having a hard time staying alive.&#8221;

Instead of responding to this information in any way, the judge appeared to mock Harlow&#8217;s faith, saying she should, “make an effort to remain alive” because that is a “tenet of [Harlow’s] religion.” Paulette Harlow was sentenced to home confinement, until federal officials could find a prison that could handle her medical needs.
Outside the courthouse, Harlow emphasized that she wasn&#8217;t violent in any way. And just looking at her, you can tell that she doesn&#8217;t deserve to spend 24 months in a federal prison. She&#8217;s obviously not a threat to anyone. Watch:

If you can look at that elderly, infirm lady and think that she deserves two years in federal prison for sitting outside of an abortion clinic, then you simply a bad person, if not a lunatic. As Harlow&#8217;s lawyers at the Thomas More Society have <a href="https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/63d954d4e4ad424df7819d46/6787e6eb978c3844c48bed30_TMS%20Pardon%20Petition%20Cover%20Letter.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pointed out</a>, this prosecution gets even more unlawful when you look at the cases the DOJ chose NOT to prosecute over the last four years. 
Specifically, the DOJ failed to prosecute, &#8220;almost any of the more than 170 incidents of violence against pro-life pregnancy centers and churches nationwide in the wake of the leak of the Dobbs decision.&#8221; There were at least 86 Catholic churches and 74 pregnancy resource centers that were targeted post-Dobbs. One of those resource centers received a threat, &#8220;If abortions aren’t safe, neither are you.&#8221; And yet, when The Daily Signal <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2022/10/26/dojs-kristen-clarke-pro-abortion-activist-enforcing-law-pro-lifers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reached out</a> to the DOJ and the FBI to see if any of these cases were being investigated, they didn&#8217;t get a response.
In other words, the DOJ was clearly targeting pro-life protesters specifically because of their religious beliefs. They were applying the law to different groups of people in different ways. That is unconstitutional. It is unethical. And the point of it was to intimidate pro-lifers into silence. That&#8217;s why they arrested these people like they were terrorists. They hit Paul Vaughn&#8217;s home like he was bin Laden. Watch:

This was an especially incredible prosecution by the DOJ, because it was clear to everyone Paul Vaughn wasn&#8217;t even blocking access to the abortion facility in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. Video evidence proved that. Instead, the DOJ accused Paul Vaughn of &#8220;stalling&#8221; the police negotiators, outside the facility. So again, they&#8217;re treating anyone remotely associated with these protests as a violent terrorist.
But yesterday Donald Trump put an end to these political prosecutions. He signed pardons for nearly two dozen peaceful pro-life demonstrators, including Paulette Harlow and Paul Vaughn. Watch:

Between these pardons and the repeal of Roe, there is now absolutely no question that Trump has done more for the pro-life cause than any other Republican president in history. It&#8217;s not even close.
During the campaign, there were some conservatives who doubted that. Some of them even suggested that pro-lifers shouldn&#8217;t vote for Donald Trump. But that was always a very bad idea, as I argued at the time — and now everyone can see that. For the first time in history, pro-lifers have a true advocate in the White House. What the hell did George Bush ever do for the pro-life cause? What did Ronald Reagan do? They treated pro-lifers like the red headed step children of the conservative movement. Trump — even though he is personally more moderate on the abortion issue than I am — is actually delivering major wins for the cause.
He actually accomplishes things — things that seemed impossible not too long ago. And he&#8217;s not stopping. Donald Trump is now single-handedly reversing a wave of lawfare against pro-lifers who were punished, in cruel and inhumane ways, because of their religious beliefs.
In fact we&#8217;ve had so much success on this issue in the last few years that some conservatives think the March For Life is pointless. But events elsewhere in Washington prove otherwise. As you might have heard, every Democrat in the Senate just voted against a measure that would have required doctors to provide life-saving medical treatment to infants born alive after a botched abortion. They&#8217;ve temporarily blocked the bill, because in the Senate, as of now, you need 60 votes to clear a filibuster and force a vote. Even the &#8220;reasonable Democrats&#8221; like noted slob John Fetterman voted in favor of infanticide.
Here&#8217;s what Fetterman <a href="https://x.com/SenFettermanPA/status/1882157782377611475" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>: &#8220;I’ve always stood on the side of Roe and a woman’s right to make her own health care choices. It’s absurd to mandate criminalization because of those choices. Any bill that does so, including the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act, is a NO from me.&#8221;
In other words, he&#8217;s saying that women have the right to murder their children even after they&#8217;re born. Of course, this is the natural extension of Democrats&#8217; pro-abortion logic. And in this case, he&#8217;s just coming right out and saying it. So no, I don’t want to hear another word about so-called “moderate” Democrats. A lot of people have been saying that about Fetterman lately, but there&#8217;s no such thing. I don&#8217;t know how many times we need to learn this lesson. Even the moderate, mainstream Democrats believe that infant children outside the womb have no inherent right to life.

If you look at the text of the law, that becomes very clear. Here&#8217;s what the <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/senate-bill/6/text" target="_blank" rel="noopener">law requires</a>: &#8220;Any health care practitioner present at the time the child is born alive shall — “(A) exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age; and “(B) following the exercise of skill, care, and diligence required under subparagraph (A), ensure that the child born alive is immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.&#8221; And then the law states, &#8220;A health care practitioner or any employee of a hospital, a physician’s office, or an abortion clinic who has knowledge of a failure to comply with the requirements of paragraph (1) shall immediately report the failure to an appropriate State or Federal law enforcement agency, or to both.&#8221;
This is not some hypothetical scenario. It happens more often than you might think. In Florida, 14 babies were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/yes-democrats-support-ending-the-lives-of-babies-who-survive-abortions">reported</a> to have survived abortions in 2023, and 16 babies survived abortions in 2022. In Michigan, 122 babies were involved in so-called &#8220;failed abortions,&#8221; and we have no information as to what happened to them afterwards. In Tim Walz&#8217;s Minnesota, as we&#8217;ve previously discussed, at least five abortions resulted in a live birth in 2021 — and instead of receiving life-saving measures, at least two of those infants received &#8220;comfort care.&#8221; They soon died. And instead of outlawing this, the state of Minnesota decided to simply stop posting records from these failed abortions. So now they can kill infants and not tell anyone.
On the Senate floor, Chuck Schumer made an attempt to defend infanticide. Here&#8217;s how he framed the argument:

First of all, he claims that the bill is redundant. He suggests it&#8217;s already illegal to commit infanticide. But as we just established, many states are currently allowing doctors to kill infants after they&#8217;re born, by providing them with a lesser standard of care. The doctors are allowed to do this, and no one reports them for it. The law against murder is clearly not being enforced in these contexts. That&#8217;s why we need this legislation. It enhances the reporting requirements surrounding this barbarism, so that doctors can&#8217;t keep hiding it.

If you parse what Schumer is saying, he&#8217;s trying to argue that some women decide to kill their children when it&#8217;s clear that they&#8217;re going to have serious, life-altering medical problems. And then when those children manage to survive the abortion, he&#8217;s saying we should allow these women to &#8220;finish the job,&#8221; so to speak. But again, having a life-altering medical problem doesn&#8217;t mean you deserve to die. You are entitled to the same degree of care as anyone else with that life-altering medical problem. That&#8217;s what the bill requires. What if a four year old child has an accident on the playground and ends up disabled for life? Would it be okay with Chuck if the child’s parents decided to simply suffocate him with a pillow and throw him in a dumpster out back? Apparently so. Because that’s what his own logic would justify.
Democrats&#8217; decision to block this bill proves two things. First of all, it shows that the Democrat Party is still radically, horrifically, satanically extreme — despite whatever concessions to &#8220;moderates&#8221; they claim to be making. And secondly, it demonstrates that, despite all of our victories in recent days and years, we still have a lot of work to do. The pro-life movement has never had more power than it has right now. And at this moment, after the overt embrace of infanticide that we just saw in Congress, it&#8217;s clear that we need to use it.

When it overruled Roe v. Wade in 2022, the Supreme Court eliminated the biggest legal obstacle to advancing the pro-life cause. But our fight has never been a fight against Roe v. Wade. It’s a fight for life – one that is only just beginning.
In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Supreme Court said that regulating abortion belonged in the hands of the people and their elected representatives. Since then, nearly half the states have passed pro-life laws of different kinds – while others have doubled down on their pro-abortion policies.
Pro-abortion states and activists, however, are not content with legally protecting abortion where they live. They are now passing so-called abortion “shield” laws designed to undermine the ability of pro-life states to enforce their own laws.
Normally, states cooperate with each other when, for example, it comes to returning individuals to where they have committed crimes. This cooperation is required by the Constitution, and by multiple agreements that most states have signed.
Abortion shield laws break from that tradition, potentially causing irreparable damage to the interstate comity that has characterized the United States for so long.
But abortion shield laws also undermine traditional medical practice, which has long considered the location of medical care to be that of the patient, not the doctor.
In 2022, for example, the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), the board representing state medical and osteopathic boards, adopted a policy stating that the “practice of medicine occurs where the patient is located.” This is true, the FSMB said, even when a patient receives telemedicine: the state of care is the state in which the patient is located.
But states such as California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, and Washington have passed laws reversing this principle so that the laws of an abortionist’s state apply.
This poses extreme risks, especially now that a majority of abortions are caused by drugs rather than surgery. It allows abortionists to mail abortion drugs into pro-life states while claiming that a completely different state’s laws apply – even though women receive, use, and (in case of complications) are treated for those drugs under the laws of their home state.
Abortion advocates know this is both nonsensical and dangerous.
The primary authors of this abortion shield strategy <a href="https://review.law.stanford.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2024/02/Cohen-76-Stan.-L.-Rev.-317.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acknowledge</a> that “[s]tandard telehealth practice considers medical care to have occurred where the patient is located.” They also concede that “there are important reasons for defining care as occurring where the patient is located,” and that “shifting the location of care is a significant departure from the standard of care, the provisions of state medical practice acts, and the guidance of professional organizations.”

They even admit that “the state where the patient resides typically has the strongest interest” and best means of protecting the safety of the resident patient.
Yet while abortion activists know all of this, for them, nothing comes close to matching the importance of maximizing abortion in this country. Nothing, not even protecting women’s health, can compete with killing unborn children.
Thus, they turn a blind eye while doctors prescribe and provide abortion drugs to patients they will never see in person – and whom they will not treat in the case of resulting complications.
The pro-life cause requires not only passing laws that protect the unborn but also being able to enforce those laws. These abortion shield laws have the same objective as the Supreme Court did in Roe v. Wade: forcing abortion upon states that oppose it. The March for Life calls us to fight for life on these new fronts, meaning it’s not outdated – it’s more important than ever.

Vice President JD Vance will speak at the National March for Life in Washington, D.C., on Friday, The Daily Wire can first report.
The event will mark Vance&#8217;s first public remarks since he was sworn in as Vice President of the United States. In 2019, Donald Trump <a href="https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/briefings-statements/remarks-president-trump-47th-annual-march-life/">became the first president</a> to speak at the March for Life, several years before Roe v. Wade was overturned. Trump is scheduled to be in California visiting areas destroyed by the wildfires during the 2025 March for Life.
This year&#8217;s March for Life will take place on Friday, January 24, beginning by the Washington Monument. It comes two years after the Supreme Court overturned Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization, due in large part to Trump&#8217;s Supreme Court appointments.
News of Vance&#8217;s upcoming speech came shortly after the Daily Wire reported that Trump will pardon pro-life activists imprisoned by the Biden Justice Department in a matter of days. The plight of the imprisoned pro-lifers is an immediate priority to Trump’s team, and they will likely be pardoned within days, two sources with knowledge of the matter shared with The Daily Wire.

We look forward to working with him and Vice President Vance as they dismantle the Biden Administration’s aggressive and unpopular abortion agenda and once again put wins on the board for vulnerable unborn children and their mothers.&#8221;

At the United Nations, I made clear that global bureaucrats have no business attacking the sovereignty of nations that protect innocent life.Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House.&#8221;
Trump issued a sweeping executive order on Monday that granted full pardons for about 1,500 criminal defendants related to the January 6 Capitol Riot, making good on a campaign promises to free those targeted by the Biden administration. His actions prompted many in the pro-life community to hope that he would similarly pardon the pro-life activists targeted by the Biden Justice Department under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.

Many in our nation see the topic of life only as a cause that divides. Each year at the National March for Life in Washington, D.C., our humble voices and peaceful presence serve as a reminder of the beauty and dignity of every human life, and as an invitation to all Americans to recognize this truth and to serve the most vulnerable.
Now, more than ever, we must come together to witness to the inherent dignity of life.
In the two years since the Dobbs decision, the pro-life community has faced many challenges. We have battled relentless and radical pro-abortion proposals at both the state and federal level. Pro-abortion politicians have been using their power to discredit the life-saving work of pregnancy resource centers at a time when these charitable organizations have been suffering widespread threats, physical violence, and vandalism. Moreover, deadly misinformation campaigns surrounding state-level pro-life protections are scaring doctors and women away from addressing pregnancy-related medical emergencies even though <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/pro-life-laws-protect-mom-and-baby-pregnant-womens-lives-are-protected-in-all-states/#_ftnref1">none of these laws</a> prohibit life-saving care.
Extreme abortion measures that would enshrine a dangerous &#8220;right to abortion&#8221; into several state constitutions will be on the ballot this November. In Massachusetts, Attorney General Andrea Campbell has initiated a national “working group” of state AGs to target the work of pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) and Governor Maura Healy launched a million-dollar<a href="https://www.mass.gov/news/healey-driscoll-administration-launches-first-in-the-nation-public-education-campaign-on-the-dangers-of-anti-abortion-centers" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> taxpayer-funded</a> smear campaign aimed at discrediting and destroying them.
Attacks like these harm vulnerable pregnant women who most need the <a href="https://pregnancycarealliance.com/resources/2023-impact-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">resources and support</a> that PRCs provide. The result is that PRCs are forced to divert attention and resources from serving women in need, toward defending themselves against political and physical attacks – all because they offer alternatives to abortion. 
Pro-abortion misinformation campaigns promoting the Democrats’ vision of abortion without limits have tragically contributed to the preventable deaths of Georgia mothers Amber Thurman and Candi Miller. Pro-abortion activists, who for two years have been spreading the false narrative that state-level pro-life protections prevent doctors from treating mothers with serious pregnancy complications, are rightly described as “<a href="https://www.mediaite.com/opinion/propublicas-misleading-abortion-ban-stories-are-part-of-the-problem/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">part of the problem</a>.” Those who fearmonger about pro-life protections would serve women far better if they admitted that complications from the unsupervised provision of abortion drugs caused the complications leading to Amber’s and Candi’s heartbreaking and untimely deaths.
Some pro-life Americans may feel overwhelmed or discouraged by these and many other challenges we face right now as a community. But while the landscape in which we work towards making abortion unthinkable will always have its ups and downs, the value and inherent dignity of vulnerable women and children never changes. Likewise, our resolve to protect and provide for them must never waver.
That is why for the 52nd National March for Life we chose a theme that reminds pro-life Americans of our roots &#8211; the reasons why we march by the thousands each year in the freezing cold, snow, and rain. We hope that reflecting on this year’s theme: “Every Life: Why We March” will be a source of the renewed energy and focus so needed for this moment. 
We march, not for ourselves, but rather for the pregnant women across the country who are in need of love and support. We march for the innocent unborn children who deserve a chance to live, to have a future, if only they are given the chance. We march also for our neighbors, co-workers, and elected officials who do not yet see the truth: that all human life is intrinsically valuable and worthy of protection.
For the past 52 years and again this year, pro-life Americans will unite from across all generations and all walks of life, with unique backgrounds and stories, to be a peaceful presence and joyful witness to this truth – and to march in love and protection of every human life.

None of the Friday evening or Saturday morning news shows on ABC, NBC, or CBS covered the 51st annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., which saw <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tens-of-thousands-expected-to-join-march-for-life-in-snowy-d-c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tens of thousands</a> of pro-life protesters flood the nation’s capital. 
March for Life organizers estimated that between 50,000 and 100,000 people attended the rally and ensuing march on Friday, but the massive pro-life turnout didn’t make it into the evening or morning coverage of some of the legacy media’s most-watched news programs, media watchdog NewsBusters <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/alex-christy/2024/01/20/nbc-skips-march-life-hype-pro-abort-high-schoolers-abc-and-cbs">reported</a>. While ignoring the pro-life March for Life, “NBC Nightly News” with Lester Holt reported on how high school girls are making abortion access a priority in their decision on where to go to college.
“School ranking, academics, tuition costs, all factors in the big decision of picking a college but for South Carolina high school senior Grace, add the state&#8217;s abortion laws,” NBC News reporter Savannah Sellers began the segment. 
The high school senior featured in the segment said she was “not comfortable being in a state that doesn&#8217;t value who I am or value my rights as a person.”
Sellers said Grace was “joining a growing trend” of young women who consider a state’s abortion laws when deciding on a college.

The March for Life featured speakers such as House Speaker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-critical-time-house-speaker-mike-johnson-tells-thousands-at-march-for-life-to-take-action" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mike Johnson</a> (R-LA), former NFL tight end Benjamin Watson, Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), and Focus on the Family President and CEO Jim Daly. University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, who led his team to a national championship victory earlier this month, also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jim-harbaugh-addresses-crowd-at-march-for-life-its-a-great-example-that-youre-setting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">addressed the crowd</a> at the March for Life rally before introducing Watson as a speaker.
“Thank you all for being here. It’s a great example that you’re setting,” Harbaugh said. “It’s a testimony to the sanctity of life.”
