A newly revealed memo shows that the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fbi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FBI</a> told the Metro Nashville Police Department that the release of a school shooter’s writings could lead to “conspiracy theories” and “inaccurate information” in the weeks following fatal shootings at a Christian school in Nashville, <a href="https://tennesseestar.com/news/fbi-memo-on-protection-of-legacy-tokens-sent-to-nashville-police-in-may-2023-opposed-release-of-covenant-killer-documents-cited-destruction-precedent/tpappert/2024/06/05/">according</a> to a report from The Tennessee Star.
The <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2024/06/LHM_Protection_of_Legacy_Tokens.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">memo</a>, dated May 11, 2023, and recently obtained by The Star, was sent to Nashville Chief of Police John Drake after a transgender-identifying woman killed six people, including three children, at The Covenant School. It was also sent just days after Star News Digital Media, owner of The Tennessee Star, filed multiple lawsuits seeking the release of the killer’s writings, which have remained sealed both by Nashville police and the FBI. 
While the memo does specifically mention The Covenant School shooting, it tells Drake that a mass shooter&#8217;s writings and other documents, referred to as “legacy tokens,” should not be released to the public. The memo came from the FBI&#8217;s Critical Incident Response Group in Quantico, Virginia. 
Inside the memo, the FBI argued that the public should not have access to a shooter’s materials because the writings would be misinterpreted and may inspire further attacks. 
“Reasonably, the request often proffered by those seeking the release of the materials revolves around the public’s need to understand what led to such tragic events,” the FBI said. “Yet, legacy tokens seldom provide the answers or comfort sought by the public and surviving victims.  Offender’s words are often misleading, biased, or lacking insight.&#8221;
The FBI said the release would also lead to “conspiracy theories.”
“Public access to legacy tokens will also facilitate false narratives and inaccurate information. For personal gain, self-professed ‘experts’ will proffer their perspectives on the motivations behind the attack,” the memo said. “This also may lead to unintended consequences for the segment of the population more vulnerable or open to conspiracy theories, which will undoubtedly abound.”

Metro Nashville Police Department Public Affairs Director Don Aaron told The Star on Tuesday that the FBI&#8217;s Behavioral Analysis Unit has been working with Nashville police on the investigation into the shooting.  
The release of the Covenant shooter&#8217;s so-called &#8220;manifesto&#8221; has been held up for months as both the FBI and Metro Nashville have refused to release the materials. A group of families from the school have also sought to block the release of the materials. 
A Davidson County judge is currently looking at a lawsuit against the police brought by a group, including The Star, looking to release the shooter’s writings, while a federal judge is considering a similar challenge against the FBI. The Nashville Police said that it expects to release its full report and most of the shooter’s writings in July, adding that its investigation is ongoing. 
A small <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nashville-police-finally-address-leaked-images-of-covenant-school-shooters-manifesto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">portion</a> was leaked in November by podcaster Steven Crowder, who obtained three photographs of the alleged writings. The pages included racial slurs against white children as well as an itinerary for “death day,” which articulated her intent to have a “high death count.”

Nearly a year after a trans-identifying woman entered a Nashville Christian school and murdered three adults and three children, a federal judge in Tennessee has ordered the FBI to release the shooter&#8217;s manifesto, which has been kept from the public since authorities recovered writings from her car and home.
Shortly after authorities said they recovered the shooter&#8217;s diary and manifesto, the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nashville-police-deny-daily-wires-request-for-trans-shooters-manifesto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denied requests from The Daily Wire</a> and others for a copy of the writings, replying, “The investigation is still an open case. … Once the case is closed, please re-request at a later date.” Conservative newspaper The Tennessee Star then sued the MNPD and the FBI after its public records requests under the Freedom of Information Act were denied.
The FBI attempted to get the Star&#8217;s complaint dismissed, but Judge Aleta Trauger of the Middle District of Tennessee said late last week that there is &#8220;significant public interest&#8221; in the &#8220;materials&#8221; and &#8220;law enforcement objectives&#8221; in the case, and the bureau did not support its position &#8220;with sufficient clarity or detail,&#8221; Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/judge-orders-fbi-hand-over-trans-school-shooter-audrey-hale-manifesto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
&#8220;The FBI is ORDERED to produce ex parte all documents that are potentially responsive to the defendants’ Freedom of Information Act request for in camera review, with the exception that, based on the plaintiffs’ concessions in this litigation, the FBI need not produce any documents that could not reasonably be construed to bear on (the shooter&#8217;s) motives,&#8221; the judge wrote.
The 28-year-old shooter, a woman who identified as a man in the months leading up to the shooting, entered The Covenant School on March 27, 2023, gunning down three adults, including the head of the school, and three 9-year-old children in what authorities described as a “targeted attack.” Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all age 9; Cynthia Peak, age 61; Katherine Koonce, age 60; and Mike Hill, age 61, were killed before MNPD officers took out the shooter.
Local authorities, along with the FBI, searched the home of the female shooter shortly after the killings, where they found “a manifesto” along with maps of the school drawn in detail that included points of entry. After the search, MNPD Chief John Drake said authorities have a theory on the shooter’s motive, but they were not ready to share it. Nearly a year later, neither the MNPD nor the FBI has provided any more information on a motive.
A Nashville judge has also allowed parents of The Covenant School students to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/group-of-covenant-school-parents-moves-to-keep-records-secret" target="_blank" rel="noopener">intervene</a> in the open records requests. The parents say that releasing the manifesto would only cause more trauma for the victims and their families.

In November, conservative podcaster Steven Crowder <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nashville-shooter-decried-crackers-and-white-privilege-leaked-manifesto-pages-reveal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained and revealed</a> three pages of the shooter&#8217;s writings, which show the shooter decried &#8220;white privilege.&#8221;
“Kill those kids!!! Those crackers going to private fancy schools with those fancy khakis + sports backpacks w/ their daddies mustangs + convertables [sic],” the 28-year-old female shooter wrote in a diary entry dated February 3.
“I wish to shoot you weakass d—ks w/ your mop yellow hair, wanna kill all you little crackers! Bunch of little f—gots w/ your white privileges,” she wrote.

Federal Judge Orders FBI To Release Manifesto Of Trans-Identifying Nashville Shooter

A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tennessee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tennessee</a> court ruled on Thursday that a group of parents can intervene in the legal fight to block the release of the manifesto of the transgender-identifying woman who murdered six people at a Christian school in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nashville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nashville</a> earlier this year. 
The Tennessee Court of Appeals said that the Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, and parents at the school had standing to intervene in efforts to block the manifesto’s release, but did not rule on whether to block the release of the shooter’s writings.
“In this appeal, the only issues properly before this Court concern the trial court’s grant of intervention to Intervenors — any issues concerning the disclosure of the sought records had not yet been adjudicated at the time this appeal was filed and are not before this Court,” Judge Thomas Frierson <a href="https://www.wkrn.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/73/2023/11/Covenant-Parents-Intervention-Ruling.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>.
The church, school, and some parents of kids at the school have <a href="https://www.wkrn.com/news/local-news/nashville/appeals-court-panel-rules-in-favor-of-covenant-parents-in-manifesto-lawsuit/?email=84885943124850418dccfffa5f984fb2b1450cf1&amp;emaila=6cb861e5998d3d6a1ce8452947dee058&amp;emailb=78504d1586e2066c8a05f4b619c2e64c552dbc337ec8d9ba2cb59caa7c91ecac&amp;utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Curated%20Morning%20Headlines%202023-12-01&amp;utm_content=morning%20headlines" target="_blank" rel="noopener">argued</a> that the shooter’s writings should remain sealed for security and privacy purposes. 
The ruling is the latest update in the legal battle over the manifesto of the 28-year-old woman who went on a rampage inside The Covenant School, a Presbyterian-affiliated pre-K-6 school, where she killed six people on March 28, 2023. The victims of the attack included three 9-year-olds — Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9; Hallie Scruggs, 9; William Kinney, 9 — and three staff members — headmaster Katherine Koonce, 60; Cynthia Peak, 61; and Mike Hill, 61.
The Metropolitan Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation denied <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nashville-police-deny-daily-wires-request-for-trans-shooters-manifesto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">open records</a> requests from The Daily Wire, the Tennessee Star, and other outlets, citing that it was an ongoing investigation — even though the shooter was killed by police during the attack. 
Michael Patrick Leahy, the CEO of Star News Digital Media, <a href="https://tennesseestar.com/justice/tennessee-appeals-court-rules-covenant-parents-may-intervene-in-lawsuit-seeking-audrey-hale-manifesto/tpappert/2023/11/30/?ref=pamphleteer.co" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that the Tennessee Star may consider an appeal to the Tennessee Supreme Court.
“The Chancery Court ruling to allow the intervention was a clear violation of Tennessee statutes, as was today’s ruling by the Court of Appeals. We are evaluating our options, which may include directly appealing this faulty decision to the Tennessee Supreme Court,” he said in a statement.

Portions of the manifesto <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nashville-shooter-decried-crackers-and-white-privilege-leaked-manifesto-pages-reveal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">leaked last month</a> showing the killer claiming the kids at the school had “white privilege” and calling them “crackers.” 
“Kill those kids!!! Those crackers going to private fancy schools with those fancy khakis + sports backpacks w/ their daddies mustangs + convertables [sic],” she wrote in her diary. 
“I wish to shoot you weakass d***s w/ your mop yellow hair, wanna kill all you little crackers! Bunch of little f*****s w/ your white privileges,” she wrote.
Three photographs of the pages of the shooter’s diary were obtained by commentator Steven Crowder, who reported that his investigative team independently confirmed the authenticity of the images. The Daily Wire’s sources have also confirmed the authenticity of the pages.
The case now heads back to the the Chancery Court for Davidson County in Nashville.

Tennessee Court Rules That Parents Can Intervene In Fight Over Release Of Nashville Shooter’s Manifesto

On Monday, the long-hidden manifesto of the Nashville, Tennessee, trans school shooter was leaked.
On March 27, 2023, the shooter, a 28-year-old woman who believed she was a man, opened fire at the Covenant School in Green Hills, killing six people. 
Given the identity of the shooter, the media quickly jumped to the narrative that the story was about lack of gun control. In fact, that narrative quickly spun into a narrative about racism after two black Democratic lawmakers illegally stormed the House floor in Tennessee, took control of the chamber, and then faced the prospect of expulsion from their seats.
Gun control and racism against black Americans — those were the narratives the media spun about the Nashville shooting. 
The real story, obviously, wasn’t that.
It was the evil insanity of the shooter herself.

What might have forced coverage of that issue would have been the shooter’s manifesto. In virtually all other cases in which a mass shooter leaves a manifesto, the manifesto, or at least its general message, is made public nearly immediately: the August 2023 Jacksonville shooting targeting black Americans featured a white supremacist manifesto; the 2019 El Paso shooting targeting Hispanic Americans featured a white supremacist manifesto; the 2015 Charleston church shooting featured a white supremacist manifesto. 
The shooter in Nashville had a manifesto too.
But we were told that it was utterly unclear just why the shooter had targeted a religious school. And we were told that the manifesto was “rambling,” without a clear political motivation. In fact, a federal law enforcement official told NBC News that “no direct motive has been established in the investigation and suggested the driving force of the attack was similar to previous school shootings in which the assailant was drawn to other mass killers.” 
We were told that the manifesto might never be released, despite the fact that the Nashville Police Department released a list of items belonging to the shooter, including a suicide note, three folders, and 19 journals. 
It has now been seven months. The manifesto still has not been released.
But Steven Crowder’s investigative team somehow obtained three pages of the manifesto. Here is some of what it says:

Today is the day, the day has finally come! I can’t believe it’s here. Don’t know how I was able to get this far, but here I am. I’m a little nervous but excited too. Been excited for the past 2 weeks. There were several times I could have been caught, especially back in the summer of 2021. None of that matters now. I’m almost an hour and seven minutes away. Can’t believe I’m doing this, but I’m ready… I hope my victims aren’t. My only fear is if anything goes wrong, I’ll do my best to prevent any of the sort (God let my wrath take over my anxiety). It might be 10 minutes tops. It might be 3-7. It’s gunna go quick. I hope I have a high death count.</blockquote>
So, what do we know about the shooter? We know that the shooter spouted radical Left-wing slogans about white privilege and wanted to shoot white kids. We also know that the shooter came out as a transgender man on Facebook in 2022. We know that the shooter attended the Christian school as a 10-year-old.
In other words, we know that a transgender person suffering from severe mental illness and citing Left-wing slogans on race targeted white Christian kids. Were the case the reverse — were the shooter a religious Christian targeting sexually confused children of color — the manifesto would have been released almost immediately. The entire media conversation would have centered on the evils of Christianity and white racism in America. 
But this story had to be buried — and quickly.
It is not OK to talk about trans violence in the United States, despite violent threats that attach to anyone who says that men are not women. In fact, the Washington Post ran an entire piece after the trans school shooting claiming the Right was “exploit[ing] Nashville shooting to escalate anti-trans rhetoric.” The White House issued its sympathy for trans people overall, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre intoning, “Our hearts go out to the trans community as they are under attack right now.&#8221; The story is always that trans Americans are experiencing a massive wave of deadly violence — even though the story isn’t true. 
It is not OK to talk about anti-white violence in the United States either. Whiteness, we have been told, must be abolished. Whiteness is inherently privileged. Whiteness is a disease, a curse. Never mind the fact that in 2021, 87% of all non-lethal interracial violent crimes committed between blacks and whites were black-on-white, as Heather Mac Donald points out. Whiteness is the problem.

The fact that these are cherished Left-wing narratives means they must be protected at all costs. And that means burying an inconvenient manifesto.
In reality, if we’re going to release any mass shooter’s manifesto, we must release all of them. If we’re going to examine the motives of mass shooters in order to uncover supposedly unique American ills, we are owed the full panoply of the criminally evil.
But we won’t get that full view. 
And we all know why.

The FBI may be sitting on what has been described as the Nashville school shooter&#8217;s &#8220;manifesto&#8221; because bone-chilling information within it could pose a continuing threat to the public, a Tennessee official said Thursday.
The killer behind the March 27 massacre that left three nine-year-old kids and three adults dead inside a Christian school was a 28-year-old woman who claimed to be a man. She fired 152 bullets in a 14-minute rampage inside The Covenant School, a private Presbyterian school, before police stormed inside and shot her dead. While the Metro Nashville Police Department is heading up the probe with assistance from the FBI, MNPD spokesman Don Aaron said material related to the shooter is still “under analysis” by the bureau.
“What I was told is, her manifesto was a blueprint on total destruction, and it was so, so detailed at the level of what she had planned,” Metro Nashville Council Member Courtney Johnston told <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/04/20/audrey-hale-manifesto-blueprint-on-destruction-say-pols-who-claim-fbi-stalling-release/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&amp;utm_source=pasteboard_app" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Post</a>, adding she had been informed the FBI would not release the entire manifesto.
“That document in the wrong person’s hands would be astronomically dangerous,” she continued, adding that “the vast, overwhelming majority of it” could prove dangerous to the public. “I personally don’t want to know the depths to which her psychosis reached.&#8221;
&#8220;When I’m told by an MNPD high-ranking official that it keeps him up at night, I’m going to defer to that person in that agency that I don’t need to read that,” she added.
Materials <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/tennessee-officials-say-fbi-stalling-release-nashville-shooter-audrey-hale-manifesto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found at the home</a> the shooter shared with her parents included five laptops, a suicide note, two memoirs, five Covenant School yearbooks, and seven cellphones, according to a search warrant. Various congressional representatives called for the FBI to release the manifesto.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN), who said that the FBI was responsible for the delay in releasing the manifesto, said that the manifesto “could maybe tell us a little bit about what’s going on inside of her head,” adding, “I think that would answer a lot of questions.”
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) said that “we need to investigate why” if the materials are not released.
Minnesota state Rep. Walter Hudson told the Post that Americans have voiced “increasing distrust with the FBI and with government agencies generally,” adding, “One of the greatest threats to democracy or, as I would say, threats to the Constitutional Republic, is the erosion of trust in institutions. The FBI is one of those institutions. If you’re going to wield power in a free country, then you have a responsibility to maintain the public’s trust in that power – and the FBI needs to figure out how to do that.”
Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9, Hallie Scruggs, 9, William Kinney, 9, Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61, were murdered in the shooting. At the time of the shooting, local police <a href="https://www.newschannel5.com/news/the-covenant-school-shooter-fired-152-rounds-planned-for-months-police-said" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a> that the shooter had “considered the actions of other mass murderers.”
