&#8220;Mr. Scheffler and I agree that there will be no ill will over this going forward. Instead of giving a negative public reaction, he chose to speak with dignity, humility, and respect. My family and I appreciate that,&#8221; Gillis said.
The detective then blasted Scheffler&#8217;s attorney Steve Romines for calling Scheffler&#8217;s detainment a &#8220;false arrest.&#8221;
&#8220;It was unfortunate and disturbing to hear Steve Romines’ commentary today claiming that a ‘false arrest’ was made and for him to challenge my honesty and integrity. I’d be surprised and disappointed if Mr. Scheffler actually had any part in making those statements,&#8221; Gillis said.
&#8220;To be clear, I was drug by the car, I went to the ground, and I received visible injuries to my knees and wrist,&#8221; he added. &#8220;I’m going to recover from it, and it will be OK. This is the extent of my commentary on the incident. The reality is that there are more important things in the world right now than a back-and-forth over this. A person lost his life that day, and a family lost a loved one.&#8221;

In a video following Scheffler&#8217;s arrest, the golfer told another officer that he didn&#8217;t know Gillis was a policeman, adding that his arm was &#8220;grabbed&#8221; while he was driving toward the golf club.
“So, I’m pulling in here [and] the police officer up there told me to come the opposite way with the traffic and then come in; and as I was pulling in, my window was down, an officer told me to stop,” Scheffler said. “First of all, I did not know he was a police officer. I thought he was one of the security guards that was mistaken; and as I was pulling by him, he grabbed my arm.”
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/louisville-officials-no-bodycam-footage-available-from-scottie-scheffler-arrest" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Detective Gillis “did not have body cam footage turned on during the incident,” and the officer was disciplined for failing to turn his body camera on during the arrest.

“I never intended to disregard any of the instructions. I’m hopeful to put this to the side and focus on golf today,” Scheffler added. “Of course, all of us involved in the tournament express our deepest sympathies to the family of the man who passed away in the earlier accident this morning. Scheffler was taken into custody after he attempted to drive onto the golf club property ahead of his early tee time in the second round of the PGA Championship on May 17. A fatal accident involving a pedestrian earlier in the morning, which was unrelated to Scheffler&#8217;s arrest, had shut down traffic heading into the Valhalla Golf Club.
The resurfaced footage, which appears to be taken from one of the officer&#8217;s body cameras, shows Scheffler telling an officer that he was instructed by a policeman to &#8220;come the opposite way with the traffic&#8221; to get into the golf club. Moments later, however, Louisville Police Department Detective Bryan Gillis told him to stop and &#8220;grabbed&#8221; his arm and &#8220;hit&#8221; him, according to Scheffler.

“Yes, you’re right,” Scheffler replied. “I should’ve stopped. I did get a little bit impatient because I’m quite late for my tee time; and as he was reaching in the car, he grabbed my shoulder and hit me. &#8230; It seemed to be a little over-aggressive because the entrance was open. I pulled over because I was afraid. I thought he was gonna start hitting me and I didn’t know who he was. He didn’t tell me he was a police officer. All I saw was the yellow jacket. I didn’t know what he was doing.”
The officer told Scheffler that Gillis was wearing a uniform and a brightly colored jacket that was easily recognizable.
“Also, if someone’s telling you to stop, no matter who it is, you don’t keep going,” the officer said. “So, what happened is you kept going and you took him with you while he’s a pedestrian, okay? So, you took him with your car and [dragged] him, which is not a good thing.&#8221;

&#8220;So listen to me, to make it even worse, when he asked you to get out of the car, you refused to get out of the car,” the officer added.
Scheffler told him he &#8220;was not aware&#8221; that Gillis &#8220;was a police officer.&#8221;
&#8220;I was actually looking out the window of the car to try to find a police officer,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If I knew he was a police officer, I would’ve been much less afraid, but panic kinda set in. As you can see, I’m still shaking because I was afraid I didn’t know who he was. He didn’t say, ‘Police, get out of the car.’ He just hit me with his flashlight and yelled, ‘Get out of the car.&#8217;”
The officer told the No. 1 golfer in the world that it doesn&#8217;t matter if Gillis were a traffic guard, a security guard, or a cop, saying that &#8220;if someone tells you to stop &#8230; that means you stop at that time.&#8221;
&#8220;You actually hurt [Gillis],&#8221; the officer said. &#8220;He&#8217;s got a huge scrape on his knee. He&#8217;s getting checked by EMS — a big bruise.&#8221;

The Louisville police officer who arrested the world&#8217;s top golfer, Scottie Scheffler, late last week did not have his bodycam recorder turned on during the incident.
ESPN <a href="https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/40174105/louisville-pd-confirms-no-body-cam-video-scheffler-arrest">reported</a> that a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed reports that the officer&#8217;s body-worn camera (BWC) was not activated even though the department&#8217;s procedures mandate officers &#8220;maintain their BWC in a constant state of operational readiness.&#8221;
&#8220;There is no body-worn camera footage of the initial encounter,&#8221; the spokesman told the publication. &#8220;The incident is under review internally and will proceed through the judicial process. We would like to restate that all parties involved are fully cooperating. LMPD is committed to a thorough investigation for all involved.&#8221;
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg <a href="https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/local/2024/05/18/scottie-scheffler-arrest-louisville-mayor-says-no-body-cam-of-incident/73748175007/">told</a> the Courier-Journal that the officer &#8220;did not have body cam footage turned on during the incident.&#8221;

“Scottie was advised to go around and turn left into the facility to come and do his pre-round preparation. The officer who charged him obviously didn’t know that,” said Steve Romines, Scheffler’s lawyer. “And so, he did what he was instructed to do. And the arresting officer didn’t think he was supposed to be doing that. And so that’s where the miscommunication occurred.”
Romines noted that Scheffler was in a marked courtesy vehicle with his credentials visible when he drove up to the facility.
“I’ve got to talk to prosecutors,” he said. “[The charges will] either be dropped or we’ll go to trial because he didn’t do anything wrong. So we’re not interested in any sort of settlement negotiations or anything like that. He didn’t do anything wrong. It was just a big miscommunication.”

He was initially scheduled to tee off at 8:48 a.m., but his tee time was moved back to 10:08 a.m., which he made on time. Scottie Scheffler, who is coming off a victory at the Masters last month followed by the birth of his first child, was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/worlds-top-golfer-arrested-while-trying-to-enter-club-for-2nd-round-of-pga-championship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taken to jail</a> by Louisville police reportedly after a traffic misunderstanding. The Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections confirmed on its website that Scheffler was booked into jail at 7:28 a.m.

“When Scheffler exited the vehicle, the officer shoved Scheffler against the car and immediately placed him in handcuffs,” Darlington wrote. “He is now being detained in the back of a police car.”
Dozens of police cars were on the scene outside Valhalla Golf Club in response to the fatal accident involving a pedestrian, but that accident was unrelated to Scheffler’s arrest.

Scottie Scheffler Charged With A Felony, Mugshot Released Before 2nd Round Of PGA Championship

Police bodycam footage shows the rescue of a Kentucky woman who had been chained to the floor of an upstairs bedroom of a Louisville home.
Moises May, 36, was arrested two days after the rescue and charged with one count of kidnapping, intimidating a participant in the legal process, wanton endangerment, assault, terroristic threatening, and harassment, <a href="https://www.wave3.com/2023/08/18/man-arrested-after-police-say-he-chained-woman-floor-park-hill-neighborhood/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to WAVE</a>.
On August 16, the Louisville Metro Police Department was called to a home where a woman was seen screaming for help out of a second-floor window.
Neighbors had called police after the woman managed to break the window and call for help, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/08/23/kentucky-police-rescue-woman-chained-to-floor-inside-home/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Police arrived and tried to gain entrance into the home but discovered that the entire first floor – doors and windows – was barricaded. Newly released <a href="https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=947968713168627" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bodycam footage</a> shows police attempting to knock down doors and break windows to get inside the home, to no avail.

Police could see the woman yelling for help and got a ladder from a neighbor to reach her on the second floor.
Once inside, they find a woman crying and frantic, with a chain locked around her neck and attached to the floor.
“The woman had a chain around her neck, which was secured by a MasterLock, and that chain was bolted to the floor with screws,” the LMPD said, according to the Post. She apologizes and tells the officer that the man holding her as a prisoner had kept the key to the lock with him on his keychain. The officer then uses a hatchet to break the metal connecting the chain to the floor.
Once outside, police and firefighters begin treating the woman and remove the chain from her neck with bolt cutters.

Two days later, police arrested May. He allegedly trapped the woman after they had an argument that turned physical, during which he held her down on the bathroom floor and chopped off most of her hair with a machete. May and the unidentified victim share a child together, according to an arrest report obtained by WAVE.
After the fight, the woman left the home, but when she returned to gather her belongings, May locked all the doors with a deadbolt and trapped her inside. May allegedly forced the woman to remove her clothes and told her: “You’re gonna get it tonight. I told you the next time you leave and don’t come home, I’d kill you.”
He then allegedly took her upstairs and chained her to the floor. Eventually, he left the home and took her cell phone, but she managed to break the window and get the attention of neighbors, according to police.
May has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The 25-year-old man who murdered five coworkers and shot eight others earlier this month at the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/louisville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Louisville</a> bank where he worked reportedly left behind a manifesto detailing an anti-gun motive for the attack.
The killer, who The Daily Wire is not naming due to company policy about not giving notoriety to mass killers, made three main points in the document, which is in the hands of law enforcement, according to the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11995155/Louisville-bank-killer-left-13-page-manifesto-revealing-three-motives-shooting.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Mail</a>.
He wanted to prove how easy it was to purchase a firearm, to highlight the mental health crisis in the U.S., and to commit suicide.
The report said that he had worked at the bank since 2021, but that executives lost confidence in him because he failed to fit in. He was fired just days before he went on the rampage.
The Louisville Metro Police Department also revealed the identities of the five victims who died in the shooting: Joshua Barrick, 40; Thomas Elliott, 63; Juliana Farmer, 45; James Tutt, 64; and Deana Eckert, 57.
One of those who was seriously injured in the shooting was Officer Nickolas Wilt, whose heroic actions brought the tragedy to an end. He had just graduated the police academy and was on only his fourth shift when he responded to the shooting.
Police said Wilt “ran towards the gunfire today to save lives” and, after reportedly receiving surgery, “remains in critical condition after being shot in the head.”
“Our city and so many from around the nation are praying for Officer Wilt’s strength and healing. His heroic actions exemplify the best of law enforcement,” tweeted Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg.

The killer&#8217;s mother <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/louisville-shooters-mother-call-to-911-released" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> police to warn them that he was headed to the bank with a gun. The woman said she learned about what her son was up to secondhand from her son’s roommate, and noted that he was an employee at the bank. However, her call to police came after the attack had already started.

Louisville officials released her call on Wednesday, along with other 911 calls made during the attack that killed five people and injured eight others.
The woman said she learned about what her son was up to secondhand from her son&#8217;s roommate, and noted that he was an employee at the bank. The woman said she did not believe her son owned a gun, but suggested that her son&#8217;s girlfriend might have a firearm. She also said her son was a &#8220;good kid&#8221; who has never hurt anyone before. &#8220;I don&#8217;t know what to do, I need your help,&#8221; she said.

There are breaks in the roughly three minutes of audio that was released. The mother appears to be unaware that the attack on the bank had begun. At the end of the audio, the woman was told not to head to the bank because it was &#8220;dangerous there&#8221; as indicated by other calls.
In explaining the reasons for the release, <a href="https://www.wave3.com/2023/04/12/graphic-city-releases-911-calls-old-national-bank-shooting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said</a>, &#8220;transparency is important, even more so in times of crisis.&#8221; He noted that parts of the audio &#8220;have been redacted to protect the privacy of those involved.&#8221;
The gunman, identified as a 25-year-old employee at the bank, died in a confrontation with responding police. Authorities said the suspect was armed with a rifle, which he <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/article/louisville-bank-shooting.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">legally purchased</a>, and was live-streaming during the attack. Authorities have yet to announce a motive.
The Daily Wire is not naming the suspect in keeping with a policy of depriving mass shooters of undeserved notoriety.

The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) released on Tuesday body-cam footage of officers responding to the attack on the bank. LMPD said Nickolas Wilt and Cory &#8220;CJ&#8221; Galloway were the &#8220;hero&#8221; officers who were the first to arrive on the scene.

Wilt, a 26-year-old who recently graduated from the police academy, was shot in the head while confronting the shooter. Wilt received brain surgery at a hospital and was <a href="https://www.wlky.com/article/lmpd-louisville-officer-hurt-nickolas-wilt-shooting/43556088" target="_blank" rel="noopener">listed in critical condition</a>.
The victims who died in the attack have been identified as Joshua Barrick, 40; Thomas Elliott, 63; and James Tutt, 64; Juliana Farmer, 45; and Deana Eckert, 57.
Elliott, a bank vice president, was well known by politicians locally and afar. Both Greenberg and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear described him as a friend. Florida Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) also described Elliott as being close to his family.
&#8220;My friend Tommy Elliott was killed today in Louisville,&#8221; Scott tweeted. &#8220;He was my banker for many years. This news is very shocking and sad for Ann and me. He did so much in the Louisville community, and we pray for his family during this awful time.&#8221;
A vigil is planned for 5 p.m. Wednesday at the local Muhammad Ali Center.
&#8220;This vigil will be to acknowledge the wounds, physical and emotional, that gun violence leaves behind,&#8221; Greenberg said at a news conference on Tuesday, <a href="https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/local/2023/04/12/latest-on-louisville-shooting-vigil-planned-body-cam-footage-released/70106845007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to the Courier Journal</a>. &#8220;It will be a(n) interfaith opportunity for our entire community to come together to grieve, heal, to begin to move forward.&#8221;

A major university is investigating after one student is alleged to have killed live chicks in an air fryer.
The University of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/louisville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Louisville</a> said it was investigating student reports of another student who posted videos to Instagram of him cooking live chicks in his air fryer. The videos were reportedly shared by another student to Reddit. The university said that the incident reportedly took place off-campus, but the accounts belonged to a current student.
“We are aware of an off-campus incident regarding a UofL student and alleged actions of animal cruelty,” the University of Louisville said in a statement on its Twitter account. “We take reports of occurrences like this very seriously. After hearing about this off-campus incident, the university immediately relayed all relevant information to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.”

According to the videos, via local news outlet <a href="https://www.wdrb.com/news/crime-reports/university-of-louisville-investigating-after-student-allegedly-committed-acts-of-animal-cruelty/article_dcb9e184-d674-11ed-8a00-9bbee84207f7.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WDRB</a>, the individual pours seasoning on a live chick in an air fryer pan lined with aluminum foil. &#8220;How to make fired [sic] chicken,&#8221; the caption reads. In the next clip, censored by the outlet, a chick appears dead in the same pan. &#8220;No don&#8217;t look, this is rough,&#8221; a woman can be heard saying. Another video, also censored, shows a dead chick hanging from the ceiling. Another video, via the <a href="https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/2023/04/09/uofl-investigating-video-student-abusing-animals-off-campus-baby-chicks/70096805007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Louisville Courier-Journal</a>, shows a chick being put into a microwave.
The Instagram account in question had the letters &#8220;UOFL,&#8221; signifying the University of Louisville, in its bio. Additionally, a Reddit post that shared the video claimed that the individual was an engineering student at the J.B. Speed School of Engineering. The University was able to confirm that the user is a student at the college.
&#8220;It just gives you a grimy feeling like I feel wrong for being able to see it,&#8221; Sarah Devers, a Louisville student who saw the videos and contacted police, told WDRB.
The student reportedly followed up his posts with a separate Instagram story that claimed the chickens were robots that he had programmed. &#8220;I&#8217;m actually honored that y&#8217;all believe it&#8217;s real I put a lot of work into designing them,&#8221; another story read.

Court documents obtained by <a href="https://wgntv.com/news/chicago-news/chicago-man-files-class-action-suit-against-buffalo-wild-wings-says-boneless-wings-are-just-nuggets/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WGN-TV</a> show plaintiff Aimen Halim filed the complaint on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against the restaurant chain and its parent-company Inspire Brands, which the complaint alleges “is responsible for the composition, preparation, advertising, marketing and sale of ‘Buffalo Wild Wings’ product.”
Halim claims people were led to believe that the defendants simply deboned the chicken wings, which would then have been comprised entirely of chicken wing meat.

Police identified an officer who was wounded while stopping a shooter who killed four people at a bank in Louisville, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kentucky" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kentucky</a>, on Monday.

The report said Wilt graduated from LMPD&#8217;s Police Academy on March 31.
Interim Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said during a Monday afternoon news conference that three of the injured victims, including Wilt, were in critical condition. Three others were listed as noncritical, and three more were treated and released.
