The media wants you to get canceled and stay canceled.
Journalists didn’t complain about Cancel Culture during woke’s darkest days. Instead, they fed the beast. And they haven’t stopped, even if what Elon Musk dubbed the “woke mind virus” is fading.
Cancel Culture took down all comers for a good, long while. Think of those who committed legitimately awful acts (Louis C.K., Harvey Weinstein), comedians who shared “problematic” jokes (Kevin Hart), or singers saying ugly words off stage (Morgan Wallen).
For the worst offenders, the media insisted that the parties in question have no redemptive arc. Apologies were demanded but not accepted.
Louis C.K. is the poster child for this trend.
The “Louie” star was one of the most respected comics in the industry circa 2017. His FX series earned endless praise, his edgy stand-up material wowed critics, and he seemed poised for a Woody Allen-style directorial career with his upcoming film, “I Love You, Daddy.”
Then he confirmed reports that he had sexually exposed himself to multiple women. He apologized and said he’d go away for a while.
And he did, but not before his career collapsed. He lost that FX series, a role in “The Secret Life of Pets 2,” and any other gigs from his once-thriving career. Oh, and the distributor behind “I Love You, Daddy” yanked the film from the schedule. It remains unreleased.
C.K. eventually returned to comedy stages nationwide. He did so on his own, flexing his email list of supporters and trusting his comedy could lure some folks back to his side.
He suffered for his actions. He lost millions. He will never lose the label that many have affixed to him for his actions. And, of course, some fans will never support him.
That’s their choice, and it’s reasonable.
He still deserves the chance to win back an audience and make people laugh. And they came, slowly at first, and his audiences eventually grew large enough that he played Madison Square Garden.
But he’s not allowed that chance for redemption if the media has anything to say about it.
His new Netflix special, “Ridiculous,” is his first mainstream Hollywood project since the revelations went public nine years ago. Variety’s review suggests his comeback, both on Netflix’s part and the media reception, <a href="https://variety.com/2026/tv/reviews/louis-ck-ridiculous-review-netflix-1236797990/">remains problematic</a>:

The release of “Ridiculous” also culminates a tour that saw C.K. make inroads with the kind of liberal-coded publications that once covered his reputational nadir, with favorable writeups in both The Times and The New Yorker.

Other outlets have played a <a href="https://www.thecut.com/2021/12/louis-c-k-releases-new-stand-up-special-sorry.html">similar refrain</a> about his slow-motion comeback. The Guardian filled its “Ridiculous” review with <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2026/jun/30/louis-ck-ridiculous-review-netflix">regret that the special even exists</a>:

It’s less a triumphant return than a gradual slinking back, an unspoken assumption that no one really cares that much about his behavior; no particular defense or apology, just a shruggy emoticon. 
</blockquote>
Cracked.com, a far-Left site allegedly dedicated to pop culture, <a href="https://www.cracked.com/article_49913_louis-cks-new-special-shows-that-all-canceled-comics-need-are-bad-words.html">trashed C.K.’s fans</a> for laughing at the R-rated jokes told in “Ridiculous.”
Wallen’s cancellation story may be the most absurd. He was caught on camera using the “n-word,” but not aimed at anyone or, more specifically, targeting a black person. His career also collapsed overnight.
He donated thousands to black organizations to stem the career damage, apologized profusely and took a break from touring. He lost access to major awards shows, found his music stripped from radio stations and lost his representation.
The Washington Post used his cancellation <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/washington-post-cancel-culture-country-music/">to attack all of country music</a>.
He, too, slowly came back, and his fans were all too eager to forgive and forget. But when radio stations started playing his music again, <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country/morgan-wallen-banned-country-radio-1227035/">Rolling Stone magazine cried out in horror</a>.
In the end, Wallen’s massive fan base un-canceled him. He grew more famous, more unstoppable, and the media hand-wringing eventually subsided.
All for saying one ugly, offensive word.
Dave Chappelle’s sin proved the most bewildering. The comedy giant poked fun at the trans community during a 2019 Netflix special dubbed, “The Closer,” that wrapped with a moving tribute to a late trans comic.
The Cancel Culture mob ignored the latter and laser focused on the former. Chappelle’s skin color and comedy god status didn’t protect him from said mob. Netflix workers picketed their employer and media outlets turned on Chappelle with a ferocity that likely caught him by surprise.
His plans to release a documentary got canceled, a project that has yet to see the light of day several years later.
And, through it all, reporters piled on Chappelle.
Rolling Stone, once a free speech bastion, <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/dave-chappelle-documentary-san-fran-tour-opener-1252836/">often led the charge.</a>
Despite the rightful criticism many have shared in the wake of that special’s release, Chappelle’s career seems to be doing just fine if the arena-wide standing ovation he received upon arrival on Thursday is any indication.
Darn it!
Others piled on, demanding he apologize for … jokes.

In most cases, the obligatory narrative followed. Think variations of “What Cancel Culture?” That ignores the massive punishments the aforementioned stars endured along the way.
You’ll likely read just that as disgraced actors Armie Hammer and Kevin Spacey rebuild their professional careers.
The people who behave badly but don’t endure this brand of media attack? Democratic politicians like Graham Platner. He was never canceled by the press in the first place. That’s all you need to know about “cancel culture.”

Joe Rogan slammed legacy media for its &#8220;sh***y format&#8221; and said &#8220;it&#8217;s way less popular&#8221; than it&#8217;s ever been in history, naming CNN and evening news.
During Spotify&#8217;s &#8220;The Joe Rogan Experience&#8221; <a href="https://open.spotify.com/episode/177plfcE2xWKrOJUfnn13S?si=fvpV2ozeTgSNghfTMCkO8g">podcast</a> on Saturday, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-rogan">podcast host</a> was speaking with comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/louis-ck">Louis C.K.</a> about the media&#8217;s coverage of gruesome stories like the school shooting at Sandy Hook and 9-11, as the two agreed the media has always done this, calling it &#8220;obscene.&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s messed up. It&#8217;s obscene and it&#8217;s normal. And that&#8217;s what they operate under. That&#8217;s their currency,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/joe-rogan-has-change-of-heart-explains-why-will-smith-has-to-be-forgiven-after-chris-rock-slap">Rogan</a> replied, noting that with the media &#8220;there&#8217;s a diffusion of responsibility when you work for a large corporation.&#8221;

C.K. recalled being in the Fox News studio once, sitting in the control room when President Barack Obama was &#8220;making a speech&#8221; and he claimed no one was listening to the speech on any of the cameras in the room, yet commented on it afterward.
He said it happens at MSNBC and CNN too, &#8220;they&#8217;re not thinking about anything. They already know their reaction and they gotta come in with it really quick&#8221; because it&#8217;s got to get in people&#8217;s phones before another news outlet. &#8220;It&#8217;s entertainment.&#8221;

&#8220;Because it&#8217;s not really people that are completely locked in for the most part,&#8221; the host explained. &#8220;Most people are just flipping through the channels and you know something outrageous &#8230; [hearing a reporter criticizing someone as bad for America.] But if you don&#8217;t say that they aren&#8217;t going to pay attention.&#8221;
&#8220;Then they [corporate media] is going to lose out on that Pfizer dollars that&#8217;s going to come through in the ad break,&#8221; he added. Because of the format, it&#8217;s just a trick to get you to watch a commercial for Colgate.

&#8220;And it&#8217;s because people are tired of it,&#8221; the podcast host shared. &#8220;It&#8217;s a sh***y format and in comparison to long-form discussions, independent interview shows &#8230; podcasts where people have nuanced perspectives. If you really want to understand what&#8217;s going on in the world, complicated issues, invasion of Ukraine by Russia, you need people to break it down to you. They aren&#8217;t going to get it in five minutes.&#8221;
&#8220;You are going to get &#8216;they hate us for our freedom,&#8221; he added. &#8220;That&#8217;s what you are going to get in five minutes. You are going to get nonsense talking points.&#8221;

Twitter is not happy that comedian Louis C.K. won a Grammy despite his “cancellation” five years ago.
The 54-year-old “Louie” alum got into trouble just when the #MeToo movement started gaining steam as multiple women came forward saying he had masturbated in their presence. Louis C.K. apologized while maintaining that all sexual encounters were consensual.
The Daily Wire originally <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/louis-ck-responds-sexual-harassment-allegations-ben-shapiro">reported</a> that the comedian said: “At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my d*** without asking first. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your d*** isn’t a question. It’s a predicament for them.”
“There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for,” he continued. “And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with. … The hardest regret to live with is what you’ve done to hurt someone else. And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them.”
Ever since the incident and fallout, Louis C.K. has remained mostly out of the spotlight until this surprise Grammy win. He took home “Best Comedy Album” for “Sincerely Louis CK.” Other nominated comics in the same category included Kevin Hart, Nate Bargatze, Lewis Black, Chelsea Handler, and Lavell Crawford.
Twitter followers were not amused that the allegedly “canceled” comedian won such a prestigious award.
“I don’t want to hear anything else about Will Smith now that Louis C.K. not only was nominated but just won an award #GRAMMYs,” one person wrote.
Another <a href="https://twitter.com/QueenMab87/status/1510761898475913217">agreed</a>, “Louis CK just won a whole a** Grammy while y’all are either calling for Will Smith’s head or crying about cancel culture. There are no consequences for white cishet men.”
Similar sentiments flooded the platform after the official Grammys <a href="https://twitter.com/RecordingAcad/status/1510752491985522688">account</a> shared his win.
&#8220;Rewarding the man that makes light of sexual harassment and assault while having allegations levied against him?&#8221; one person wrote.
&#8220;The Grammys are a great reminder that &#8216;cancel culture&#8217; doesn&#8217;t exist and no white dude has ever been successfully cancelled for anything terrible that they do,&#8221; someone else tweeted.
Some people spoke up in defense of the comedian, however, insisting that there were double standards for who got canceled and who didn’t.
“Lol Chris Brown beat the s*** out of Rihanna in 2009 and won a Grammy 3 years later. Save the crocodile tears over Louis CK, you absolute losers,” one person wrote.

Louis C.K. took home a Grammy at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday for Best Comedy Album despite attempts and calls to cancel him after he admitted to several sexual misconduct allegations.
During the 2022 Grammy awards, the 54-year-old actor and comedian won a Grammy for his surprise album &#8220;Sincerely Louis C.K.,&#8221; five years after sexual harassment allegations surfaced against him, <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/louis-c-k-wins-grammy-225905522.html">reported</a> Yahoo.com in a piece published Sunday.
The &#8220;Louie&#8221; star beat out other superstar comedians in the same category such as Kevin Hart, Chelsea Handler, and Lavell Crawford, <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/louis-c-k-grammys-sexual-misconduct-1331976/">reported</a> RollingStone.com.

The comedian was not there to accept the award and award presenter LeVar Burton said he would accept it for him, <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/04/03/louis-c-k-wins-best-comedy-album-at-2022-grammys/">reported</a> the New York Post.
&#8220;Damn, I will accept this on his behalf,&#8221; Burton said.

Despite the fact that his sexual conduct with younger, female comedians and entertainment executives left Louis C.K. largely unwelcome on major streaming platforms and in some comedy clubs, his latest release, “Sincerely Louis CK,” nevertheless received a nomination for “Best Comedy Album.” The rest of the category includes offerings from Kevin Hart, Chelsea Handler, and Lewis Black.
Asked by Hollywood trade publication, <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/grammys-chief-on-noms-for-marilyn-manson-louis-ck-we-wont-look-at-peoples-history/">The Wrap</a>, about the controversial nominees, Grammys CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said the Recording Academy does not “look back at people’s history” when considering nominations, but added that doesn’t mean all nominees will be invited to attend the ceremony.
“We won’t restrict the people who can submit their material for consideration,” Mason said, “We won’t look back at people’s history, we won’t look at their criminal record, we won’t look at anything other than the legality within our rules of, is this recording for this work eligible based on date and other criteria. If it is, they can submit for consideration.”
Mason went on:
<blockquote>What we will control is our stages, our shows, our events, our red carpets. We’ll take a look at anyone who is asking to be a part of that, asking to be in attendance, and we’ll make our decisions at that point. But we’re not going to be in the business of restricting people from submitting their work for our voters to decide on.</blockquote>
Many Grammy experts were watching to see how the organization would respond should cancelled country star <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/awards/morgan-wallen-grammy-2022-situation-analysis-9648248/">Morgan Wallen</a> receive a nod. But despite having the best-selling country album of the year and being submitted in eight categories, the 28-year-old did not receive any nominations

Despite Calls For Their Cancellations, Dave Chappelle, Louis C.K. Both Nominated For Grammys

Former Vice President Joe Biden returned a $2800 donation from controversial comedian Louis CK, according to <a href="https://time.com/5825872/joe-biden-donation-louis-ck/">Time Magazine</a>, preferring to send back the money than be associated with allegations of sexual impropriety that have dogged Louis CK since the advent of the #MeToo movement.
The development is intriguing given that Biden is now facing his own allegations of sexual impropriety stemming from his time in Congress.
Louis CK reportedly donated the maximum amount that the FEC allows for individual political contributions, $2800, on March 4th, after the Democratic field began to coalesce behind the more &#8220;moderate&#8221; Biden, and after Biden chalked up a number of decisive wins on Super Tuesday, pulling well ahead of his closest opponent for the nomination, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
&#8220;CK’s career was upended in 2017, after several women came forward and accused of him of sexually inappropriate behavior, including masturbating in front of them without their consent, or masturbating while over the phone with them without their consent,&#8221; <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2020/04/joe-biden-louis-ck-donation">Vanity Fair reported</a>. &#8220;CK, formerly a critically hailed comedian thanks to his genre-blending FX dramedy, &#8216;Louie,&#8217; quickly admitted that the reports were accurate, saying he had &#8216;been remorseful of my actions.'&#8221;
CK has since become &#8220;less apologetic,&#8221; Vanity Fair says, resisting being canceled and returning to the comedy circuit, now with material skewering his troubles.
The Biden campaign did not give details as to why they sent Louis CK&#8217;s money back, but Vanity Fair points out that the reason is self-evident.
&#8220;It’s obvious why Biden’s campaign would want to distance itself from C.K., especially considering Biden has been facing his own sexual-misconduct allegations from multiple women. Biden, who is the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, has denied the claims,&#8221; they said.
Biden actually hasn&#8217;t spoken at length about the issue.
His accuser, a former aide named Tara Reade, says that Biden touched her inappropriately when the two were alone in his office in the mid-1990s. Before his stunning downfall, comedian Louis C.K. was known to joke about anything and everything, no matter how taboo.
He&#8217;s back, and he&#8217;s picked up right where he left off.
“I’d rather be in Auschwitz than New York City,” he joked in a show at a venue near Tel Aviv, Israel. “I mean now, not when it was open.”
The 52-year-old comedian, whose paternal grandfather was Jewish, delivered the line Thanksgiving night performance, prompting laughter and applause from the audience, the <a href="https://pagesix.com/2019/11/29/louis-c-k-tells-israeli-audience-hed-rather-be-in-auschwitz-than-nyc/">New York Post</a> reported.
The comedian, whose real name is Louis Székely, is out on tour now, part of a long comeback after he admitted two years ago that he masturbated in front of women, with or without their approval.
“How have your last couple of years been?” he said as he opened his set.
After numerous women came out to make the allegations, C.K said in a November 2017 statement: “These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my d–k without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your d–k isn’t a question. It’s a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly.”
&#8220;I also took advantage of the fact that I was widely admired in my and their community, which disabled them from sharing their story and brought hardship to them when they tried because people who look up to me didn’t want to hear it. I didn’t think that I was doing any of that because my position allowed me not to think about it. There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for. And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with.”
At the Tel Aviv show, C.K. even joked about that subject, &#8220;advising the audience against following in his perverted footsteps,&#8221; The Post said.
“If they say ‘yes,’ then still don’t do it, because it’s not popular,” he said.
C.K. was riding high before his tumultuous fall. He has won six Emmy Awards and a Peabody and was the star of a popular FX TV series called “Louie,&#8221; plus, he sold out huge venues for his comedy show. But after his admission that he&#8217;d done the things all his accusers said he&#8217;d done, film distributor The Orchard dropped his movie “I Love You Daddy&#8221; just days before its release and C.K. disappeared.
The comedian opened his comeback tour in Richmond, Va., and he has shows booked in Detroit Akron, New Orleans, and Houston through February.

In his new Netflix special &#8220;Sticks &amp; Stones&#8221; released Monday, comedian Dave Chappelle slammed HBO&#8217;s documentary on alleged sexual abuse by Michael Jackson, said he didn&#8217;t believe Jackson&#8217;s accusers, and joked that even if Jackson did rape young boys, they were probably proud to go to school the next day having been molested by a megastar.
Chappelle&#8217;s comments came during a segment of his new stand-up comedy special focused on &#8220;celebrity hunting season,&#8221; an era he described as &#8220;the worst time ever to be a celebrity.&#8221;
In comments reported by <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/dave-chappelle-slams-michael-jackson-accusers-cancel-culture-netflix-special-1234633">The Hollywood Reporter</a>, among other entertainment outlets, Chappelle warned his fellow celebrities that in the current &#8220;cancel culture&#8221; they&#8217;re all &#8220;doomed.&#8221;
&#8220;This is the worst time ever to be a celebrity,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You&#8217;re gonna be finished. Everyone&#8217;s doomed. Michael Jackson has been dead for 10 years, and this n**** has two new cases.&#8221;
HBO&#8217;s &#8220;Leaving Neverland,&#8221; he said, is &#8220;f***ing gross&#8221; and &#8220;really nasty sh**.&#8221; Though he at first expresses reluctance to admit it, Chappelle declares that he believes Jackson&#8217;s accusers — who say the star raped them when they were just 7 and 10 years old — are lying, then jokes that even if Jackson did do it, his victims should feel special to have been sexually abused by the world-famous celebrity.
&#8220;I don’t think he did it, but you know what? Even if he did do it … you know what I mean?&#8221; Chappelle said suggestively, pausing for effect.
As THR notes, the audience responded by erupting in laughter.
&#8220;I mean, it&#8217;s Michael Jackson,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I know more than half the people in this room have been molested in their lives, but it wasn’t no goddamn Michael Jackson, was it? This kid got his d*** sucked by the King of Pop. All we get is awkward Thanksgivings for the rest of our lives. You know how good it must have felt to go to school the next day after that sh**?&#8221;
Why does the comedian not believe the accusers? Chappelle explained that it&#8217;s because troubled child actor Macaulay Culkin hasn&#8217;t come forward. &#8220;I&#8217;m not a pedophile, but if I was, Macaulay Culkin&#8217;s the first kid I&#8217;m f***ing — I&#8217;ll tell you that right now,&#8221; he said.

Chappelle went on to suggest that while he doesn&#8217;t believe Jackson&#8217;s accusers, he does believe the accusations against R. Kelly are true. He also denied stories about his reasons for turning down an appearance on Lifetime&#8217;s &#8220;Surviving R. Kelly,&#8221; explaining that he really didn&#8217;t go on because he doesn&#8217;t know the guy.
Another superstar that has fallen victim to &#8220;celebrity hunting season,&#8221; he said, was fellow comedian Kevin Hart, who he praised as &#8220;damn near perfect,&#8221; or, at least &#8220;four tweets shy of being perfect.&#8221;

&#8220;Saturday Night Live&#8221; cast member Pete Davidson spent New Year&#8217;s Eve throwing jabs at comedian Louis C.K. and joking about his death during a set at a Boston area club.
Davidson, who once mocked veteran Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) for losing his eye in war, was seemingly triggered by C.K.&#8217;s leaked stand-up routine, which included jokes about &#8220;gender neutral&#8221; millennials and the faux expertise of Parkland school shooting survivors.
During his routine, Davidson joked about triggering C.K.&#8217;s death via tattoo, <a href="https://www.indiewire.com/2019/01/pete-davidson-louis-ck-fired-smoking-pot-saturday-night-live-1202031578/">reports</a> IndieWire:

In 2017, C.K. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/39849/actress-says-she-wants-comedian-louis-ck-raped-and-amanda-prestigiacomo">admitted</a> to masturbating in front of women over whom he said he had &#8220;power&#8221; after five women came forward with related accusations. Ansari, another comedian referenced by Davidson, was accused of engaging in sex acts with a woman who admittedly consented to the acts but claims she didn&#8217;t really want to participate.
But Davidson&#8217;s scorn for C.K. seems to derive from a personal beef. According to the &#8220;Saturday Night Live&#8221; regular, C.K. made Davidson look bad in front of executive producer Lorne Michaels. IndieWire reports:

In 2017, C.K. was <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/09/arts/television/louis-ck-sexual-misconduct.html">accused</a> of sexual misconduct (not sexual assault as stated by Barkin) by at least five women. C.K. allegedly had a habit of masturbating in front of female comedians. C.K. <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/10/arts/television/louis-ck-statement.html">responded</a> to the accusations by acknowledging that he did in fact masturbate in front of the female accusers, but noted that he did so after asking permission, first. &#8220;These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was O.K. because I never showed a woman my d*ck without asking first, which is also true. Actress Says She Wants Comedian Louis C.K. Raped And Shot At For Offensive Humor

Louis C.K., the comedian whose career imploded after he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple woman, has clearly had enough.
In a wild set at a Long Island comedy club on December 16, an audio tape of which has hit the internet, the disgraced comic doubled down hard, joking about crippled people, &#8220;retards,&#8221; Auschwitz, transgenders, the milquetoast youth of today, even the school shooting in Florida that left 17 dead.
C.K. lamented that survivors of the Parkland shooting testified in front of Congress. &#8220;These kids &#8230; What are you doing? You&#8217;re young, you should be crazy, you should be unhinged. Not in a suit saying &#8216;I&#8217;m here to &#8230;&#8217; F**k you. You&#8217;re not interesting because you went to a high school where kids got shot. Why does that mean I have to listen to you? Why does that make you interesting? You didn&#8217;t get shot. You pushed some fat kid in the way and now I gotta&#8217; listen to you talking,&#8221; C.K. said as the crowd howled with laughter.
The liberal website <a href="https://slate.com/culture/2018/12/louis-ck-leaked-set-governors-parkland-pronouns.html">Slate</a> went bananas. &#8220;Audio of a New Louis C.K. Set Has Leaked, and It&#8217;s Sickening,&#8221; they headlined their story. &#8220;It would be tacky for a comedian who had not spent years whipping it out in front of unwilling co-workers to complain about people trying to explain to him what&#8217;s appropriate and what&#8217;s not. For Louis C.K. to write and tell those jokes would require a breathtaking, Kevin Spacey&#8211;level lack of self-awareness, and there was a time that self-awareness was C.K.&#8217;s brand. So what the [f**k] is going on here?&#8221; they wrote.
Some on the internet were equally incensed.
&#8220;Making fun of the Parkland&#8217; survivors/activists sure is a bold way to begin rebranding after sexual assault allegations. Yikes,&#8221; wrote one person on Twitter.
&#8220;There was always part of me that was hoping he&#8217;d turn things around, put out a better apology, and make a huge comeback&#8230; but I think that part of me just died listening to this,&#8221; another said.
&#8220;OMG, I just.. .I&#8217;m so embarrassed that I used to think he was funny. This isn&#8217;t even doubling down. He just went full on monster,&#8221; said a third.
People even objected to the audience laughing.
&#8220;Why were people in the audience laughing? He was mocking child survivors who watched their classmates get slaughtered?&#8221; one person wrote on Twitter.
Slate also said &#8220;the single most disheartening thing about the bootleg recording is that Louis C.K. isn&#8217;t the only voice on it. An audience member, either the person who made the recording or someone who was sitting nearby, is audible throughout, giggling, snickering, and roaring in laughter.&#8221;
But that&#8217;s what comedians do. Since the days of Lenny Bruce, comedians have gone way out there, sometimes wading into waters that no one should brave. The best will make us ponder things we&#8217;ve never thought about, while the worst are just crude and infantile. Where C.K. comes down in that lot is an individual decision, because in America, comedians of all levels have the freedom to say their piece and people can decide whether or not to pay them homage.
For the record, C.K. went a lot further. The comedian also mocked young people for using gender-neutral terms and demanding everyone else do, too.

Louis C.K. Mocks Parkland Shooting Survivors. Internet Goes Insane.

Earlier this week, the persistently woke comedienne <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/37457/sarah-silverman-admits-she-gave-louis-ck-consent-paul-bois">Sarah Silverman made a surprise turn</a> during an interview with Howard Stern on SiriusXM in which she admitted to having previously consented to watching her longtime friend Louis C.K. do the dirty deed on himself several times.
&#8220;I know I&#8217;m going to regret saying this,&#8221; Silverman said. &#8220;I&#8217;ve known Louis forever, I&#8217;m not making excuses for him, so please don&#8217;t take this that way. We are peers. We are equals. When we were kids, and he asked if he could masturbate in front of me, sometimes I&#8217;d go, &#8216;F*** yeah I want to see that!&#8217;&#8230; It&#8217;s not analogous to the other women that are talking about what he did to them. He could offer me nothing. We were only just friends. Sometimes, yeah, I wanted to see it, it was amazing. Sometimes I would say, &#8216;F***ing no, gross,&#8217; and we got pizza.&#8221;
At the height of #MeToo, Louis C.K. admitted to some shocking misconduct, which included having two women watch him masturbate. While Silverman did not exactly defend C.K.&#8217;s behavior, she downplayed the predatory aspect of it, portraying it as a failure on his part to understand the power he had over his victims.
&#8220;Once he became powerful, even within just his [comedy] community, he felt like he was the same person, but the dynamic was different and it was not OK,&#8221; Silverman said.
Silverman says that C.K. learned his lesson before The New York Times story, which noted that he reached out to some of the women to say sorry.
&#8220;Even in that article they talk about how he went on and tried to connect with some of these women to say he f***ed up and wronged them,&#8221; she said.&#8221;I&#8217;m not saying everyone should embrace Louis again. I believe he has remorse. I just want him to talk about it on stage. He&#8217;s going to have to find his way or not find his way.&#8221;
Her comments didn&#8217;t go over well with one of C.K.&#8217;s accusers, comedienne Rebecca Corry, who blasted Silverman on Twitter for defending a &#8220;predator.&#8221;

Silverman immediately apologized to Corry and conceded her point that C.K. simply &#8220;f***ed&#8221; with her.
&#8220;Rebecca I&#8217;m sorry,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Ugh this is why I don&#8217;t like weighing in. I can&#8217;t seem to do press 4 my show w/out being asked about it. But you&#8217;re right- you were equals and he f***ed with you and it&#8217;s not ok. I&#8217;m sorry, friend. You are so talented and so kind.&#8221;
Corry accepted her apology and lamented how her accusation against C.K. has caused a maelstrom of chaos in her life.
