A-list actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/leonardo-dicaprio">Leonardo DiCaprio</a> took the stand in the federal trial against recording artist Prakazrel “Pras” Michel, a founding member of the Fugees, who stands accused of funneling money into former president <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/barack-obama">Barack Obama</a>’s re-election campaign in 2012.
DiCaprio, 48, used to associate with the fugitive Malaysian financier Jho Low, who allegedly gave the money to Michel to donate to the campaign through shell accounts. Michel is <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/leonardo-dicaprio-testifies-fugees-rapper-trial-saying-team-vetted-wol-rcna77911">accused</a> of conspiring to make <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/election-fraud">illegal campaign contributions</a> using foreign money, witness tampering, and failure to register as a foreign agent of the Chinese government.
The actor, who was on the stand for about an hour, said he thought Low was “sort of a prodigy in the business world and ultra-successful.”
Low apparently told the actor he planned to contribute funds to the campaign. “It was a significant sum — something to the tune of $20-30 million,” DiCaprio said in court on Monday. “I said, ‘Wow that’s a lot of money!’”
DiCaprio was connected with Low for years. The financier also helped fund the actor’s film “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor. DiCaprio often partied with Low, accompanying him on private jets to events where Michel was sometimes present as well, he said.
Michel was selected to facilitate the donations because Low could not legally do so as a foreigner, per United States election laws. Prosecutors charged Michel with accepting tens of millions of dollars to lobby the government on behalf of Low and the Chinese government. 
Low stands accused of embezzling a whopping $4.5 billion from Malaysia’s state investment fund known as 1MDB, <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/04/03/leonardo-dicaprio-testifies-in-fugees-lobbying-trial-that-financier-jho-low-tried-to-funnel-30m-to-obama/">per</a> The New York Post.
Other witnesses also testified that Michel wired them thousands of dollars and requested that they make shadow donations to Obama’s campaign, the Post noted. Michel was allegedly paid $70 million for his efforts.

Michel and Low are also accused of lobbying the Trump administration, on behalf of Beijing, to extradite a Chinese dissident living in America, per <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/leonardo-dicaprio-testifies-fugees-rapper-trial-saying-team-vetted-wol-rcna77911">NBC News</a>.
Michel pleaded not guilty to all charges. The most serious charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/an-element-of-self-sacrifice-brendan-fraser-says-he-took-on-dangerous-stunts-because-he-felt-he-deserved-a-beating/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fraser</a> — nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his most recent role in Darren Aronofsky&#8217;s &#8220;The Whale&#8221; — sat down with <a href="https://www.gq.com/story/brendan-fraser-men-of-the-year-cover-2022?utm_social-type=owned&amp;utm_brand=gq&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;mbid=social_twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GQ Magazine</a> to discuss his trajectory in Hollywood, and he recalled two brief meetings with the &#8220;Titanic&#8221; star.
The first meeting took place, Fraser recalled, &#8220;when he was I think probably all of, I don’t know, 17, 16 maybe, he did Gilbert &#8216;Grape.&#8217; I saw it on the Paramount lot.&#8221;
DiCaprio earned <a href="https://gamerant.com/leonardo-dicaprio-best-roles-earliest-whats-eating-gilbert-grape/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rave reviews</a> for his complex portrayal of Arnie in that film, the mentally impaired younger brother to Johnny Depp&#8217;s titular character — who spends much of the film getting himself into dangerous situations — and the son of an overweight mother who refused to leave their home. He was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for the role.
Fraser, who was just a few years older than DiCaprio, was among the many who took notice of the young actor&#8217;s ability.
&#8220;I think I had just been in &#8216;School Ties&#8217; or something then, and I was, like, flummoxed but I just wanted to tell him, &#8216;Hear, hear. That was incredible,'&#8221; Fraser explained.
It wasn&#8217;t until years later, when the two happened to cross paths again while filming Martin Scorcese&#8217;s &#8220;Killers of the Flower Moon&#8221; — which also stars Robert De Niro and is slated for release in May of 2023 — that Fraser was reminded of that first meeting. DiCaprio, he explained, remembered exactly what he had said all those years ago and said it back to him.
&#8220;He repeated that to me. He remembered me,&#8221; Fraser said. &#8220;He said, &#8216;You were the only guy who didn’t treat me like a little kid.&#8217; He volunteered that to me. That was meaningful.&#8221;

Newly released <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fbi">FBI</a> documents show that federal law enforcement officials grilled Hollywood celebrities Leonardo DiCaprio and Kim Kardashian over their connections to a man at the center of a massive foreign fraud scandal who is now in hiding in communist China.
The scandal is the multi-billion dollar graft scandal at state-fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) that resulted in former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak being sent to prison last year for more than a decade.
Malaysian financier Jho Low helped start the fund in 2009 to allegedly promote economic development for the Asian nation, Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/malaysias-ex-pm-najib-multi-billion-dollar-1mdb-scandal-2022-08-23/">reported</a>. The report said that the scandal erupted into the largest kleptocracy investigation ever conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice with at least $4.5 billion stolen from the public fund and moved into offshore accounts with billions more still not accounted for. Malaysia says that Low, who is on the run from U.S. authorities, is hiding in China.
Federal authorities — including FBI agents, IRS officials, and DOJ prosecutors — interviewed <a href="https://assets.bwbx.io/documents/users/iqjWHBFdfxIU/rqXik3s0O4O4/v0">DiCaprio</a> in April 2018 and <a href="https://assets.bwbx.io/documents/users/iqjWHBFdfxIU/rUYzz.ixoF7A/v0">Kardashian</a> in 2019 over their ties to Low, who sought to boost his credibility and image by associating with and giving large financial gifts to some of the world&#8217;s biggest stars.
Low financed DiCaprio&#8217;s hit 2013 movie &#8220;Wolf of Wall Street&#8221; after the two met at a nightclub, Bloomberg News <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2023-03-02/leonardo-dicaprio-kim-kardashian-grilled-for-1mdb-secrets-fbi-documents-show">reported</a>. When presented with past communications that he had with Low, including emails, DiCaprio claimed that he did not remember writing the messages and that they didn&#8217;t sound like something that he would write.
DiCaprio and Low worked together of a variety of business ventures and Low continued to contact DiCaprio even after federal authorities announced that they were seizing his assets. The two men were reportedly so close that their mothers met.
Low and Kardashian first got connected when he paid her $50,000 to appear at a red carpet event in Las Vegas in 2009. Eventually the two partied and gambled together frequently, including an awkward incident where he gifted her hundreds of thousands of dollars of chips after she stayed up and gambled with him in Las Vegas. Kardashian walked out of the casino with a trash bag containing roughly $250,000 in cash.
“Kardashian put the trash bag full of cash in her carry-on bag and boarded a Southwest Airlines flight back to Los Angeles,” FBI agents wrote. She later collected the other $100,000 in cash from the remaining chips that she had after she returned to Las Vegas during a later trip.

There’s been a lot of outrage over the rumors that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/leonardo-dicaprio">Leonardo DiCaprio</a>, 48, is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/relationships">dating</a> a 19-year-old.
Fans have been keeping a close eye on the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">actor</a> since he broke up with model Camila Morrone shortly after her 25th birthday. It seemed that everyone was joking that DiCaprio had a strict age cap when it came to dating, no matter how old he got. To date, he’s reportedly never seriously dated any woman older than 25.
Those jokes took a serious turn last week when DiCaprio was spotted with Israeli model Eden Polani at a Los Angeles release party for Ebony Riley’s new EP, per <a href="https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/stephaniesoteriou/leonardo-dicaprio-eden-polani-david-harbour-age-gap">Buzzfeed News</a>. 
Now social media users are reacting strongly to the idea of these two dating, pointing out how significant the 29-year age gap really is. But just as many people argue that 19-year-olds should be free to date who they want, and that any young woman dating a millionaire celebrity might be using him, too.
“Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend is so young her high school experience was interrupted by COVID 19,” one viral <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@samehoodies/video/7197084535329180933">TikTok</a> reaction says.
Another TikTok user opted for an analogy with “The Last Of Us” stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay.
“If you want to grasp that age gap a little bit more by seeing it in different people here you go, they’re 19, he’s 47,” the social media user said, sharing a photo of the actors together. “Leo’s girlfriend is 19, Leo is 48. It’s off by one year but it just really shows how f***ing nasty that is.&#8221;
Viewers in the comments also pointed out that the age gap between DiCaprio and Polani is the same as the one between David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown in “Stranger Things.”
But others defended the relationship, or at the very least, pointed out the hypocrisy of being outraged.
“There seems to be a lot of outrage at Leonardo DiCaprio for &#8216;preying on&#8217; a 19 yr old woman&#8211;but not a peep is said about the woman&#8217;s taking advantage of his success &amp; status,” one Twitter user shared. “Why assume she&#8217;s the one being exploited?”
“Why are people upset that a 19 year old is dating Leonardo DiCaprio when they praise 18 year olds for selling their bodies on onlyfans to ‘get that bag?’ The 19 year old is still getting rich and famous,” another person wrote. 
“Today I learned that Leonardo DiCaprio dating a 19-year-old adult woman is the height of moral evil, mostly from the same people who believe a 4-year-old can consent to gender change,” Daily Wire host Ben Shapiro <a href="https://twitter.com/benshapiro/status/1622973658934448130">tweeted</a>.

&#8220;I know she likes him very much,&#8221; the actor <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/12/29/lorenzo-lamas-daughter-victoria-smitten-with-leonardo-dicaprio/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the New York Post after his daughter was spotted leaving a club with DiCaprio. &#8220;I think they met last month. I’m not sure of the circumstances, but that’s what she told me.&#8221;
&#8220;She’s very smitten,&#8221; Lamas continued. &#8220;I told her to treat the relationship like a holiday — just enjoy it as much as you can for as long as it lasts. And if it lasts for more than a typical holiday, great. But if not, then just guard your heart, you know? Because she’s very young.&#8221;
The former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">soap opera star</a> made a joke about the future of their relationship, if there is one. &#8220;I just told her, you know, absolutely no transatlantic cruises with Leo. Lamas, 64, shares Victoria and two other daughters with his ex-wife, Playboy Playmate Shauna Sand. The actor has been married five times and has six children. DiCaprio has been making headlines after breaking up with actress Camila Morrone just as she turned 25, which inspired a lot of backlash since it seemed the actor refused to date any women older than 25.
Lamas followed up with another interview, saying his daughter isn’t exclusively dating DiCaprio or in any kind of serious relationship.  
The actor said his daughter is &#8220;friends&#8221; with the “Titanic” star and they were together in a &#8220;social environment.”
“They were seen one time in West Hollywood at a club,&#8221; Lamas explained. &#8220;I mean, that is not dating.&#8221;
&#8220;Yeah, smitten, but they’re not dating,” he continued. “She’s fond of him, obviously. But, they’re not dating, and she does not want that out there because that would be really bad. It’d be embarrassing for her if he should happen to read something that said that they’re dating and they’re not.&#8221;

Cameron, whose newest film — &#8220;Avatar: The Way Of Water&#8221; — is set to be released in theaters on December 16, spoke with GQ about some of his most famous films. &#8220;Titanic,&#8221; which smashed box office records and ultimately <a href="https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt0120338/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">grossed over $2 billion</a> worldwide, was high on the list — but according to Cameron, things could have been very different.

Cameron explained that his first meeting with <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/thank-you-leo-christian-bale-claims-hes-only-gotten-leonardo-dicaprios-rejects-in-hollywood/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DiCaprio</a> actually went very well — although he noted that he was amused by the fact that all of the women associated with the production suddenly had a reason to be in the room for the actor&#8217;s first appearance.
&#8220;There was a meeting with Leo and there was a screen test with Leo,&#8221; Cameron reflected, adding, &#8220;So the meeting was funny, because I&#8217;m in my conference room waiting to meet an actor, right? And I look around, and all the women in the entire office are in the meeting for some reason. Like, there&#8217;s a female executive producer, okay, fine. But our accountant? You know, why was she in the meeting?&#8221;
Cameron laughed again, saying that he realized as he looked around the room that they had all just wanted to meet DiCaprio.
&#8220;So Leo came in — of course, charmed everybody, myself included,&#8221; Cameron continued, noting that actress Kate Winslet had already been chosen to play the part of Rose. &#8220;And I said, &#8216;Alright, let’s see what your chemistry’s like with Kate.’”
So DiCaprio was asked to come back for a meeting with Winslet, and he agreed — but when he arrived and Cameron asked him to read with her, the &#8220;Romeo + Juliet&#8221; star balked.
&#8220;He said, &#8216;You mean I’m reading?’” Cameron recalled. &#8220;And I said, &#8216;Yeah.&#8217; He said, &#8216;Oh, I don’t read.’”
The &#8220;Avatar&#8221; director&#8217;s response was to immediately thank DiCaprio for his time, at which point Cameron said the actor back-pedaled quickly. &#8220;He said, &#8216;Wait, wait, wait. You mean if I don’t read, I don’t get the part? Just like that?’”
Cameron said his reply was simple: &#8220;I said, &#8216;Oh, yeah. Come on. This is, like, a giant movie that’s gonna take two years of my life … so I’m not gonna f*** it up by making the wrong decision in casting. So you’re gonna read, or you’re not gonna get the part.’”
DiCaprio did read, although Cameron said he did so begrudgingly.
&#8220;Every ounce of his entire being [was] just so negative, right up until I said, &#8216;Action!’” Cameron said, but once he uttered that one word, he said DiCaprio &#8220;turned into Jack.&#8221;
&#8220;All right, he’s the guy,&#8221; Cameron said, noting that &#8220;Kate just lit up&#8221; the moment they began reading together.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/christian-bale">Christian Bale</a> claims that many of his successful acting roles in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hollywood">Hollywood</a> are the result of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/leonardo-dicaprio">Leonardo DiCaprio</a> passing on them.
The 48-year-old British actor made the comments during a recent interview with <a href="https://www.gq.com/story/christian-bale-november-cover-interview">GQ</a>. During the conversation, he quipped that, in a sense, he owes DiCaprio his career.
&#8220;Look, to this day, any <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">role</a> that anybody gets, it&#8217;s only because he&#8217;s passed on it beforehand,&#8221; Bale told the publication. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t matter what anyone tells you. It doesn&#8217;t matter how friendly you are with the directors. All those people that I&#8217;ve worked with multiple times, they all offered every one of those roles to him first.&#8221;
&#8220;So, thank you, Leo, because literally, he gets to choose everything he does,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;And good for him, he&#8217;s phenomenal.&#8221;
Though some actors could become bitter over always being second choice, the “Thor: Love and Thunder” star insists he’s not offended by DiCaprio getting preferential treatment.
&#8220;No,” he said when asked if he was mad about it. “Do you know how grateful I am to get any damn thing? I mean, I can&#8217;t do what he does. &#8230; And he does it magnificently. But I would suspect that almost everybody of similar age to him in Hollywood owes their careers to him passing on whatever project it is.&#8221;
The Academy Award winner recalled one of the most significant instances of taking one of DiCaprio’s rejects. It was for the part of Patrick Bateman in the 2000 thriller “American Psycho,&#8221; which wound up being the role that made Bale a household name.
&#8220;They had paid me the absolute minimum they were legally allowed to pay me,&#8221; he told GQ of the role early in his career. &#8220;I remember one time sitting in the makeup trailer and the makeup artists were laughing at me because I was getting paid less than any of them.&#8221;
Bale went on to say &#8220;nobody&#8221; supported casting him in the movie besides director Mary Harron.
&#8220;They said they would only make it if they could pay me that amount,&#8221; the actor said. &#8220;I was prepping for it when other people were playing the part. I was still prepping for it. And, you know, it moved on. I lost my mind. But I won it back.&#8221;
Bale is well-known for his method acting in Hollywood, a technique which has won him praise but also elicited criticism from colleagues who think he goes too far.

Leonardo DiCaprio shocked the world by hanging out with Gigi Hadid, 27, although he has been mocked mercilessly for never dating a woman over the age of 25. Rumors are circulating that Catherine Zeta-Jones, 52, and her husband of 22 years Michael Douglas, 77, have split. But so far nothing is confirmed.
The couple has one of the biggest age gaps in Hollywood but they’re also seen as a shining example of relationship goals. Zeta-Jones and Douglas have addressed their age difference before, if only to say it absolutely doesn’t matter to them.
“My husband is 25 years older than me; that’s not a secret. With any relationship, it wouldn’t be normal if there weren’t any ups and downs,” she <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/catherine-zeta-joness-dream-is-to-eat-nothing-but-desserts-for-the-rest-of-her-life-11617626213">told</a> The Wall Street Journal in 2021.

It doesn’t seem to bother musician Nick Jonas that his wife, Priyanka Chopra, was born a full decade before he was. Jonas, 30, and his 40-year-old wife even like to tease each other about it. They’ve been married since 2018.

Of their gap, Baldwin, 63, has said it’s been challenging especially when it comes to how they parent their six children.

Writing in <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaelshellenberger/2019/08/26/why-everything-they-say-about-the-amazon-including-that-its-the-lungs-of-the-world-is-wrong/#7b6fd8a45bde">Forbes</a> in 2019, Michael Shellenberger, a Time Magazine “Hero of the Environment” and Green Book Award Winner, quoted Dan Nepstad, the President and Founder of Earth Innovation Institute and the co-founder of The Amazon Environmental Research Institute. Nepstad proceeded to contest some of the most strident claims made about the Amazon rainforest burning.
Shellenberger noted that although CNN pointed out “Deforestation is neither new nor limited to one nation” and The New York Times wrote, “These fires were not caused by climate change,” both publications repeated the claim that the Amazon is the “lungs” of the world. CNN: “The Amazon remains a net source of oxygen today.” The Times: “The Amazon is often referred to as Earth’s ‘lungs,’ because its vast forests release oxygen and store carbon dioxide, a heat-trapping gas that is a major cause of global warming.”
Nepstad had a blunt response when he spoke to Shellenberger about the “lungs” claim, saying, “It’s bulls***. &#8230; There’s no science behind that. The Amazon produces a lot of oxygen but it uses the same amount of oxygen through respiration so it’s a wash.” Nepstad addressed the Times’ claim, in which they stated, “If enough rain forest is lost and can’t be restored, the area will become savanna, which doesn’t store as much carbon, meaning a reduction in the planet’s ‘lung capacity.’”
Nepstad snapped: “The Amazon produces a lot of oxygen, but so do soy farms and [cattle] pastures.”

In September 2019, DiCaprio slammed climate change &#8220;deniers&#8221; in his speech to the exclusive Global Citizen Festival in New York City. “It&#8217;s become clear that our political leaders have failed to live up to the promises that we celebrated that day,” DiCaprio pontificated, referring to the Paris Agreement. &#8220;Our future is being gambled away, and our leaders, those whom we entrust to protect us and set the example, are either failing to stop these dangerous trends or, in some cases, denying the very science of this climate catastrophe.”
Yet DiCaprio has been harshly criticized for <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/leonardo-dicaprio-climate-change-private-jet-yacht-global-citizen-1461990">taking private jets to exclusive climate conferences</a> in Europe and Asia.
Photos of DiCaprio using private jets and yachts have been distributed around the internet, as <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/leonardo-dicaprio-climate-change-private-jet-yacht-global-citizen-1461990">Newsweek</a> reported. One person commented, “I would love to hear what he is saying but his enormous carbon footprint is blocking the speakers.”

The tweet from DiCaprio was nothing new, as the actor has long been known for environmental activism. But Bolsonaro&#8217;s response, dripping with sarcasm, ended with a reference to a 2015 film DiCaprio starred in, perhaps by way of telling the Oscar winner to stay in his lane.

“By the way, the picture you posted to talk about the wildfires in the Amazon in 2019 is from 2003,&#8221; Bolsonaro wrote. &#8220;There are people who want to arrest Brazilian citizens who make this kind of mistake here in our country. But I’m against this tyrannical idea. So I forgive you. Hugs from Brazil!”
Environmentalists blame Bolsonaro for allowing more deforestation of the Amazon rainforest. Bolsonaro believes development of portions of the Amazon rainforest is critical to reducing poverty in his country.
The pair have clashed previously. In 2019, after DiCaprio donated $5 million to Amazon rainforest conservation, Bolsonaro accused him of “giving money to set the Amazon on fire.” Last year, DiCaprio was part of an effort to urge President Biden not to sign an environmental deal with Brazil.
