“You did it! You really finally did it, you maniacs! You blew it up, damn you!”
The Statue of Liberty is half-buried in the sand now, and Charlton Heston is yelling at it because of what New York City just decided to do.
By an overwhelming margin, New Yorkers handed over the financial center of planet Earth to a Marxist pro-jihadist named Zohran Mamdani, who has never held a real job.
It&#8217;s a bold strategy, Cotton. We&#8217;ll see how it works out for them.
Mamdani is not hiding the ball. He intends to implement major changes in America&#8217;s financial center, the financial center of planet Earth. He intends to make a new system that is going to destroy capitalism. 
Will he be able to accomplish that? There are some checks on him. 
Many of the promises he has made are like a third-grader running for school president who promises: “Free ice cream for everybody and no homework” was basically his campaign. If he said “affordability” over and over and over and then threw out a bunch of random things that he would never be able to do, he would be elected mayor.
It worked.
We now live in a political era characterized — on both sides — by people accurately diagnosing problems and then not proposing any real solutions while saying, “If you give me ultimate power, I will solve it for you.”
It never works.
Democrats are resistant to the idea that Mamdani is the future of the party. Hakeem Jeffries suggested that he was not the face of the party. But I&#8217;m old enough to remember when Democrats said AOC, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib were not the face of the party.
And now they are.
It will be interesting to see how the Democratic Party treats him. Do they treat him as an outsider? Do they say that he&#8217;s “sort of quirky,” the way they treated Bill de Blasio, or do they embrace him and try to draft off of the energy that he obviously captured in the middle of this campaign?

One of the lies that is constantly told about socialist candidates like Mamdani is that they are the people who get blue-collar voters, that they excite blue-collar voters. But America and Europe are different; historically speaking, European blue-collar workers tend toward socialism, but that does not happen in America. In America, blue-collar workers have always been fond of capitalism because it is what provides their jobs. Even in the early union days of the United States, the unions were quite actively anti-communist in the United States in a way that they simply were not in Europe. That remains true today.
What drove Mamdani to victory were immigrants, extreme leftists, and college-educated young women. Some of the latter is because Mamdani, with the smarmy grin and the inability to bench-press 135 pounds, seems particularly non-threatening, as opposed to Andrew Cuomo, who was ousted from office over his inability to keep his hands off the asses of women.
If this is the future of the Democratic Party, go for it, guys. It&#8217;s playing with fire. New York City is playing with fire. Mamdani’s policy proposals are trash. If he implements any of them, the city is in serious trouble.
There are systemic checks and balances that prevent Mamdani from single-handedly destroying the city. If he wants to raise taxes, he has to go to the state level. And the state legislature is very unlikely to want to increase taxes again. He says that he wants to make all the buses free, and he&#8217;s going to pay for it. How&#8217;s he going to do any of this stuff?
He won&#8217;t be able to get any of that stuff done, and then he will rail against the system.
Mamdani will make the business climate disastrous. Crime will go up. His proposals are foolish in the extreme.
Typically when you win, you tend to quote the founding ideals of the country. Mamdani did not. His entire victory speech was about how America historically is trash and how all of the fundamental principles of America are trash, and how he&#8217;s here to change things on a radical, fundamental level.
He quoted Eugene Debs, a socialist candidate from the 1910s and Nehru, the socialist leader of the non-aligned India in the post-partition era. There was no Washington; there was no Jefferson; there was no Lincoln. He said there&#8217;s a mandate for a new kind of politics, a mandate for a city we can “afford.”
All of these plans are trash.
He says that there&#8217;s a “mandate for change.” There&#8217;s always a mandate for change. That&#8217;s what elections are.
I&#8217;m very much looking forward to never having to pay for a hotel again in New York. I&#8217;m just gonna ride the buses around. I&#8217;ll just get on and ride them for free. Why the hell not? As long as I don&#8217;t get stabbed in the face, which may very well happen in a city of New York governed by Zohran Mamdani, who thinks that the police are inhibitors of human freedom.
H.L. Mencken, the famous columnist from the early 20th century, once said that democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.

Zohran Mamdani

When you think about corporate wokeness, what comes to mind? DEI and ESG policies might be the most prominent examples, for good reason. But as someone in the industry of corporate engagement, helping investors use their financial influence to root out bias from America’s biggest brands, we often find ourselves asking this question: who determines parameters? Wokeness is parasitical, and its most subtle and pernicious effects emerge by latching on to legitimate corporate policies and twisting them to serve political ends.
Among the most parasitical of these organizations is the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). An activist group <a href="https://www.splcenter.org/about/our-history/">formed</a> in 1971 to combat the influence of Jim Crow, the SPLC has gradually <a href="https://www.heritage.org/progressivism/heritage-explains/what-went-wrong-the-southern-poverty-law-center">morphed</a> into a group peddling the false equivalence between conservatives and hate groups. Case in point: the SPLC’s infamous “<a href="https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map/?hm_year=2024&amp;hm_ideology=Neo-Nazi">hate map</a>.” The SPLC would like you to <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Making-Hate-Pay-Corruption-Southern/dp/1642934399">believe</a> that the map represents American hate in an image, with many of the groups on the map, such as the Klan, white supremacists, and the Westboro Baptist Church, being genuine hate groups. And yet, when you look at the list, you’ll see some groups that decidedly aren’t hateful: Alliance Defending Freedom, American Family Association, Focus on the Family, Moms for Liberty — and an Arizona-based nonprofit called Turning Point USA. The SPLC specifically <a href="https://www.facebook.com/SPLCenter/posts/at-the-forefront-of-the-movement-to-promote-christian-supremacy-is-turning-point/1116433363845757/">lambasted</a> TPUSA as ‘hard-right’ in June of 2025, and <a href="https://www.splcenter.org/resources/reports/turning-point-usa-case-study-hard-right-2024/">even</a> smeared them as part of the political Right’s alleged efforts to “enforce a social order rooted in white supremacy.” Let’s be clear: the SPLC isn’t giving you a hate list. This is a list of groups, ranging from true extremists to normal conservative groups, that the Southern Poverty Law Center would simply like you to believe are all hateful.

What matters right now is that some of America’s biggest companies have used the list to guide their corporate policies. Brands as big as Meta (Facebook), Alphabet (Google), and Amazon have used the SPLC’s Hate List for everything from writing their ‘hate speech’ policies to determining which charities they’ll support via employee philanthropy programs. In the SPLC’s eyes (a perspective granted legitimacy by some of the world’s most prominent brands), groups like Turning Point were indeed synonymous with hate.
It’s not about corporations approving of Charlie Kirk’s death (to my knowledge, that hasn’t happened). It’s about corporations enforcing bias, discriminating against conservative and Christian organizations, under the mistaken belief that this means stopping hate. If we are to move away from a society where people are shot for their political and religious views, this premise must be completely repudiated by America’s private sector. We have serious work to do.
And conservatives are <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2025/10/19/manufacturing-hate-conservatives-pressure-companies-drop-ties-splc/">spearheading</a> that work and using their influence to hold companies accountable for relying on the SPLC’s metrics.
This isn’t about politics, at the end of the day. It’s about getting back to business. It’s almost impossible for a company to claim to have a serious policy on combating “hate” when the organizations that define “hateful” think that the KKK and Turning Point USA belong in the same category. (This is perhaps most evident with companies like Etsy, which apparently has a problem with SPLC-deemed hate groups like TPUSA, <a href="https://www.etsy.com/legal/prohibited/">citing</a> the SPLC in their hate policies, but less of a problem with literal witches that used Etsy to <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/celebrity/articles/paid-etsy-witches-curse-charlie-124930762.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAKyrSgpE_OwZ4ZR9-uaiwD15C8F7KUQ405vwpfm8CjcwAeChUfbh3bmjBTuc8iTlS74uYN3GdjWWsjSOo_gGO4Dw16hFSDCc3lCkWsbXSKy1gKoLh2Bpbh7lCm3xFwWgHkWF7b7nDllJwQMVulraHE_qktJz9S6stmmTzmYVYe-h">buy</a> an actual “hate” hex to put on Charlie Kirk shortly before he died. Because that’s not hate speech.)
As The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles recently <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzs6dy74Ew8">told</a> Congress, left-wing political violence is a serious threat to the marketplace of ideas in 2025. The Southern Poverty Law Center is only part of the problem. But, as the FBI cuts <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2025/10/03/breaking-kash-patels-fbi-cuts-all-ties-southern-poverty-law-center/">ties</a> with the SPLC, it’s time for America’s private sector to do the same. Corporate America didn’t get Charlie Kirk killed — a gunman who believed Kirk was spreading hate did. But it’s time to get serious about how organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center reflect the same poisonous idea: that conservatism and Christianity are hateful. We are seeing now that some people will take that framing and use it to rip the peaceful fabric of society apart.
The post-Charlie Kirk world isn’t one where we can afford to wallow. There’s work to be done. It’s time for us to take all the sadness and grief of this moment and channel it into culture-building energy — for Charlie, and for the country we all love. The SPLC, and a disturbing amount of the Left, would like you (and many of America’s biggest brands) to believe that mainstream conservative views are akin to hate. That idea doesn’t warrant any support in the ideas market. And the organizations that promote that idea don’t deserve to guide our capital markets.
The best time for corporate America to ditch the SPLC was years ago, before a 31-year-old husband and father lost his life after being smeared as part of a hate group. The second-best time is now.

The first rule of a Marxist revolution is that it must always eat its own. We&#8217;re beginning to see that even before Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor of New York, which has a very high likelihood according to the betting markets.
The supposed heartburn is already setting in because here is the problem: Once people begin to govern, there are actual rules to governance. You have to be a person capable of carrying out the office of the mayor, and there are obstacles to that.
Thus, all of the bizarre, radical signaling that Mamdani has been doing runs up against reality. Make no mistake, Mamdani has embraced Marxism and jihadism. This is a person whose parents are radical; he&#8217;s a second-generation radical. His father compared Abraham Lincoln to Adolf Hitler.
Mamdani came to America as one of the privileged scions of an immigrant family. His father is a Columbia University anti-American professor; his mom is an anti-American producer, both of whom believe in a racial hierarchy of victimhood.

<blockquote>Zohran Mamdani and New York City’s Democratic Socialists of America will have some relationship issues to iron out if he’s elected mayor of the nation’s largest metropolis. The DSA has been integral to his success.</blockquote>
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is a revolutionary movement. They&#8217;re not interested in governance. They&#8217;re interested in revolution. They want to overthrow capitalism. They want to overthrow the Constitution. They hate all of these things.
But the problem is that once they get people elected to office, those people have to operate within some boundaries.

It is clear that that he is going to be moderate in some areas because he doesn&#8217;t want to completely destroy all credibility with the New York population; he wants to retain NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch; he&#8217;s committed to following through with the city&#8217;s plan to build for new jails to replace Rikers, which is something that both he and the DSA had previously opposed.
We&#8217;ll see if the DSA will give him any space. My theory is that they will give him some space, that they will allow him to be as revolutionary as he wants to be within the format that has been provided to him, and then they will gradually hollow out the movement.

What the DSA is realizing is something that people from all sides of the political aisle are realizing: If you maintain your extremely radical ground, but you operate within the party system, you&#8217;re able to more quickly take power than if you operate outside the party system and browbeat people. Hijacking a party is far easier than forming your own, and then ideologically twisting and turning it.
All this heartburn, this angst, is going to be overplayed.
The hard-leftists know exactly who Mamdani is. They know he&#8217;s a revolutionary, and they are perfectly happy to travel with him, knowing that his heart is in the revolutionary place.
Perhaps he ends up stopping short. Maybe they end up turning on him when he&#8217;s no longer useful to the movement. Marxist movements have a real habit of doing this.
They will turn on absolute butchers like Leon Trotsky if it turns out that he is now inhibiting the next step of the revolution.
But I think they will give Zohran Mamdani an awful lot of rope with which to hang the city of New York before they make those sorts of moves. The Democratic Party has now built itself around the radicals, which is why you see Ilhan Omar out there as a chief advocate for Mamdani, on the basis that he is being attacked for his Islamic religion, not for the pro-jihadism or the pro-Marxism, or for the fact that he&#8217;s never held a real day job and that he&#8217;s one of the great leeches on the butt of American society.
The revolution is the only thing that matters here. The truth doesn&#8217;t matter. That&#8217;s true even for many voters in New York. There&#8217;s a <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15235585/mamdani-poll-terrifying-nightmare-new-york.html">brand new poll</a> out, talking about what New Yorkers think is going to happen if Mamdani is elected. The poll shows that many New Yorkers who do not support Mamdani are convinced he&#8217;s going to destroy New York. They think that his mayoralty will mark a return to the urban decay of the 1980s, when the city was blighted by poverty, rampant crime, crumbling infrastructure, and abandoned buildings.
It&#8217;s not as though New Yorkers are unaware of what&#8217;s happening here. New Yorkers are perfectly aware. It&#8217;s just that they are willing to risk it. They&#8217;re willing to risk it because they want to make a revolutionary statement.
The bottom line is that a plurality of New Yorkers understand things are going to be bad, but they don&#8217;t have the strength to stop him. That is the real key to this election.
Many mainstream Democratic figures have swirled and swiveled behind Mamdani and decided that it&#8217;s perfectly fine for him to take a leadership position.
This is what happens when the so-called moderates are more invested in the success of the party than they are in the principles of the party. They give way to people who are more interested in shifting and moving the principles of the party than they are in the success of the party.

We are watching a tremendous political radicalization take place in the United States.
That radicalization has been most obvious on the Left, but there is a concomitant movement that is happening on the Right.
That splinter movement on the Right is being massaged by some of the people who have some sway in the conservative movement, at least in the commentariat.
It’s important to point out how one leads to the other, because that is the pattern in American politics. Politics generally is incredibly reactionary. People tend not to respond reasonably to provocations that are unreasonable, and they tend to swivel into their own unreasonable positions, and the pendulum swings back and forth.
It is a rarity to find a moment of clarity and reasonableness in American politics, even if the people who constitute the vast majority of the American body politic are normies.
Americans want a strong national defense, but they don&#8217;t want tremendous interventionism. Americans want a traditional value system, but not one that has the government snooping in their bedrooms. Americans want a system of laws that makes sure that there is a basic level of social safety net, but they do not want the government taking tremendous amounts of money away from them and regulating their businesses out of existence. 
That’s what polls show every single time. America is a very politically normie country. A Center-Right country is where you would place America on the map, if you were creating a spectrum of countries from far-Right to far-Left. 
And yet our politics right now seem to be revolving around the polls.
The reason it is revolving around the polls is because the Democratic Party has increasingly made it clear that there is a population they do not like: white Christian males. That is the population that must be targeted. 
It wasn’t always this way inside the Democratic Party. If you go back just about 20 years to the John Edwards campaign in 2004, you’ll find a socialistic-leaning campaign in terms of its economic policies. But the Edwards campaign certainly didn&#8217;t suggest that white Christian males were somehow bad.  In fact, Edwards would openly campaign as a person who was apparently religious (Of course, in his personal life, it turned out the man had many, many foibles).
I was a very strong opponent of John Edwards. But the Democratic Party has moved dramatically on just who they are targeting. That’s the reality, and it&#8217;s coming out in so many ways. It’s clearly evident.

It&#8217;s self-evident in everything from the Mamdani candidacy, which is oriented against white Christian males, to the mainstream politicians in the Democratic Party. For example, yesterday Nancy Pelosi was giving a speech at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, and she started talking about Republicans and Christianity. Hilariously, she broke into a southern accent while she was doing it. 
Nancy Pelosi has true scorn for traditional biblical values. She considers herself a Catholic, but the reality is she does not hold any values in common with Catholicism, most certainly not on the social side. She&#8217;s a radical advocate for abortion, transgenderism, and same-sex marriage, all of which the church decries. Thus, she mocked Republicans and their relationship with religion, saying: 
<blockquote>“You know, people of faith who go to church on Sunday and pray in church on Sunday and prey on people the rest of the week. What is this? What is this?”</blockquote>
The scorn Nancy Pelosi has for religious conservatives who go to church on Sunday and disagree with her on politics has led to a massive backlash. 
The same thing is true in terms of race. The entire Democratic Party swiveled in favor of DEI, which was the idea that America is a systemically evil country that benefits white people and that any racial disparities in outcome must be attributable to a system that benefits white people at the expense of black and brown people. 
That led to a response in terms of policy that essentially targeted and disadvantaged white people. It also targeted minorities who were too successful, like Jews and Asians. 
The basic idea was that meritocracy was a guise for power, meritocracy was a lie, and that actually meritocracy was a system that benefited white people at the expense of all others. 
The Democratic Party repeated this ad nauseam. This is what the entire Black Lives Matter movement was really about, obfuscating the relationship between actions and consequences in favor of the idea that all shortcomings in life had to be due to a white supremacist system, and, therefore, white people had to be punished by the system.
And that triggered an identity-based response from a lot of young white men, particularly. 
This is the language of the Democratic Party: people of color are being targeted by white people; Christians are predators. People who are white are the oppressors. 
That is the basic matrix through which democratic politics has been refracted in the United States. That means that the coalition for the Democratic Party has been minorities, young people, and, in particular, young liberal white women. 
Why young liberal white women? Because they&#8217;re not young white Christian men. This is not just anti-Christian and anti-white, it also tends toward the anti-male. 
There&#8217;s a reason the Democratic Party has been losing young males hand over fist. They decided to feminize their party by attacking men as part of this evil superstructure. 
The final sort of peculiar outgrowth of the anti-male movement, of course, was transgenderism, which was the idea that there is no such thing as manhood. 
There&#8217;s been an overt attack on masculinity from the Left for several decades at this point, that if you let men be men, that will end with a discriminatory society that puts women underfoot, that men have nothing to offer to women at all, that the best types of men are the men who leave their masculinity behind. 
When you say that Christianity is inherently anti-LGBTQ, that it&#8217;s just a guise for discrimination. When you say that churches are bad, and when you say that white people are the cause of a white supremacist system, and that any disparate outcome is just evidence of innate white supremacy and innate white racism; when you say that maleness is driving America into the gutter and that we need to wipe away male supremacy even as males begin to underperform in college and commit suicide at higher and higher rates as they fall into depths of despair, you end up provoking a response.
And when you provoke responses, many of them tend to be untethered. Add on top of that the anti-Christian, anti-white, anti-male agenda that the Left has increasingly pushed. Also, add to that a pro-censorship agenda. That’s the idea that if you speak out against this stuff, you&#8217;re outside the Overton window, you’re at risk of being kicked out of every public space, kicked off of every public space for the great sin of saying that men are not women, or that the system is not white supremacist, and that maybe certain people are underperforming because they&#8217;re making bad decisions in their life.
The Democratic Party wants a restricted informational sphere so as to ensure that their way of viewing the world is the way that the world is viewed by everyone.
And then they added one more thing on top of that: an extraordinary amount of gaslighting.
If they say, “DEI is great and we should absolutely advantage people on the basis of their sex and their race,” and you then say, ”Maybe they&#8217;re not qualified,” they call you a racist. That&#8217;s the gaslighting. They say something. You repeat it back to them, and then they tell you the thing you&#8217;re saying is actually racist or bad. That sort of gaslighting is just typical now of an extraordinary part of the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party&#8217;s been playing with these forces for so long, it&#8217;s now too late for them to dissociate from those forces.
And all of it scares the hell out of a lot of Americans.
And it should because it is indeed radical stuff.
But as the Left has moved further to the left and embraced further radicalism as that has happened, you&#8217;ve seen an identitarian movement arise on the Right. 
If someone is opposed to Christianity and Christians because they&#8217;re “bad” and “terrible,” the normal response is to live Biblically, because the best disproof of that sort of slander is to live a Biblical lifestyle. Go to church; be good to your family; be good to your community; take care of people. The best response is to live well as a Christian. That is indeed the response of most Americans. 
When I was growing up, the response to the claim that America was a white supremacist country was to counter that America was a meritocracy. And meritocracy is good because meritocracy benefits everybody. That would be the normal response. 
The normal response to censorship is the Constitution. You want to censor? You can&#8217;t actually censor what I have to say, thanks to the government. 
Does that mean there aren&#8217;t social consequences for particularly egregious views? Of course not. That&#8217;s called normal life. You don&#8217;t have over the homeless schizophrenic for dinner who is screaming about the moon. You don’t invite the neo-Nazi who lives down the street over to have a nice chat with your kids, because those are views you don&#8217;t want in your home. 
That’s normal. That&#8217;s not cancellation. It&#8217;s not censorship. Censorship is a different thing. That is the normal response to being gaslit by people who are lying to you.
But in politics, the normal response is to smile very often. And people get frustrated. And because people are frustrated, what they tend to do is respond in kind. And this is how you end up with a horseshoe theory.
So if the Left says that white Christian males are the problem, the response winds up being that systems should only benefit white Christian males, not meritocracy. Meritocracy goes by the wayside because, after all, somebody has to win and somebody has to lose.
Thus, you&#8217;ve seen the rise of white identitarian politics. This is a fragment of the Right, not nearly the whole Right. It is not the mainstream on the Right. It is gaining increased traction on the Right, thanks to the apparent total inability of anybody on the Right to speak morally on these issues in a serious way.
Instead, there has been the attempt to massage this burgeoning feeling into a normality or legitimacy, the idea that if the Left is going to practice gaslighting and dishonesty, we too should practice gaslighting and dishonesty, that it doesn&#8217;t matter what we say as long as we achieve victory. Power is the only thing, and thus, calling other people out is now considered a form of censorship.
Criticizing a view is considered a form of censorship, which, of course, is really stupid. Criticism is not censorship. Stopping criticism, in fact, is a form of censorship. But the idea is that as long as you are on “my side,” it doesn&#8217;t matter what predations and idiocies you are spouting, as long as you are on “my side.”
Now the question becomes, what is “my side”? If I&#8217;m a person who responds with traditional Americanism to the idiocies, excesses and evils of the Left, with Biblical values, meritocracy and the Constitution, and if you say instead what we should respond with is a sort of pagan dishonesty, a DEI for white Christian males, discarding the Constitution in favor of a bizarre feeling of authoritarian tyranny, and I say, “You&#8217;re not on my side, clearly, we disagree about all the key issues,” then I get accused of “breaking the unity against the Left.”
But here&#8217;s the problem. If you agree with the Left by adopting this kind of identitarian politics, you just want a different class of people to benefit. How does that align with what most Americans want, and what that conservatism has historically stood for?
Unfortunately, this is the nature of our politics: reactionary politics.
The answer to the problem is to have a normie revolution, where people speak out in normal ways about the things that most Americans want, 80-20 issues. The vast majority of Americans believe in freedom of religion. The vast majority of Americans, even if they themselves do not go to church, believe that going to church is a generally good thing. The vast majority of Americans do not believe in governmental censorship, but they do believe in a certain sort of social standard whereby bizarre, outlandish, and evil views don&#8217;t necessarily receive a place at your dinner table.
Most Americans are very much in favor of meritocracy because that is a path forward for the entire civilization, and in fact, a path forward for those who work hard.
But if no one is going to articulate those principles, what you will end up with is a debate between the worst of the excesses on all sides, and people will just keep ping-ponging off each other. The pendulum will keep swinging wildly from side to side, and at no point will that 80% in the middle ever be receiving what they are asking for, which is just normality.
Americans have been begging for normality for at least 25 years in this country, begging for some semblance of a basic, normal life, and it&#8217;s not being given to them. 
If we keep going down this path, if we keep radicalizing and counter-radicalizing and radicalizing and counter-radicalizing, the middle won’t survive in America. 
And at that point, the things that I think most Americans care about, the things that I care about, the Constitution and meritocracy and freedom of religion and checks and balances of power and freedom of markets, all those things will go by the wayside because when the radicals predominate, it&#8217;s the normies who lose. 
At some point, the normies are going to have to stand up and say no.
Cooler heads and wiser heads are going to have to prevail.

There is something deeply wrong with young people in this country.
There&#8217;s something bizarre going on in the New York City mayoral election. People don&#8217;t actually love Zohran Mamdani’s policies, but he&#8217;s likely to win anyway.
A poll released on Tuesday found 58% of respondents feared that making buses free could make them into roaming homeless shelters, while 33% believe all fares should be eliminated. Thus, by a 25% margin, people believe that Mamdani’s free bus idea is incredibly stupid.
His proposal to get rid of the city&#8217;s gifted and talented program is wildly unpopular. 64% of the same voters who are giving a plurality of their vote to Mamdani believe that gifted and talented programs should be expanded. Only 21% believe that it should be scaled back in early grades.
When it comes to repealing bail reform laws and returning to the bail system before 2019, 55% want to go back to the system before “no cash bail.” Only 29% support the current program, which is what Mamdani backs.
Mamdani’s policies are not that popular among voters.
So why is he popular?

<li> Generation Z. Generation Z is the most Left generation by a country mile. It is not close. They are far to the left of the general population on every single issue. The bizarre idea on the Right that Generation Z is going to carry us forward into a conservative future is not supported by any hard evidence.</li>

In the latest <a href="https://www.suffolk.edu/-/media/suffolk/documents/academics/research-at-suffolk/suprc/polls/other-states/2025/10_27_2025_new_york_city_press_release.pdf?la=en&amp;hash=29E66C2E3D25A148940F2E3BB98DAC3E5A7C6D6F">Suffolk poll</a> on the New York City mayoral race, in which Mamdani is leading Cuomo 44% to 34%, Mamdani trails among all voters age 45+; among voters aged 35 to 44, he runs ahead by about 23 points against Cuomo, but among voters who are 18 to 34, Mamdani leads by a whopping 61 points.
That means he has support in the high 70s among people 18 to 34 voting in New York City, according to that poll. And this is not a rarity. Polls of young people show that they are wildly to the left of their forebears on virtually every single issue right now.

What is going wrong? Why are young people like this now?
There&#8217;s always been an explanation that young people are naïve; they don&#8217;t pay taxes; they&#8217;re not ushered into an actual real life where they&#8217;re participating in the normal institutions of daily activity. Thus, they can kind of live in “airy fairy” land, where everything is handed to them on a silver platter.
There&#8217;s truth to that. We have delayed adulthood for young people all the way into their thirties.
But there&#8217;s something else going on, too: Young people have been told that they never have to enter adulthood. They have been told that everything ought to be handed to them, and that when things are not handed to them, it&#8217;s because they themselves have some sort of deep, abiding illness, or society itself is victimizing them in some way.
All the things that would normally usher you into a more mature view of life — getting married, having kids, holding a job, and paying taxes — are things Generation Z is apparently not interested in doing and doesn&#8217;t believe that they will ever do.
This is not because Gen Z is some sort of truly victimized generation in all the history of all the humans on all the planet. The idea that American Generation Z is somehow the greatest victimhood class we&#8217;ve ever had is insane and bizarre. In fact, more Generation Z people hold degrees than millennials and Gen Xers did at their age. Generation Z will be the largest and richest generation in American history within just ten years.
So what&#8217;s going wrong? What exactly is happening? 
We have to understand that there is a radical thing that is happening with young people — on both the Left and the Right.
On the Left, there is a grievance culture that is resulting in revolutionary thinking, and on the Right, a grievance culture that is resulting in a different kind of revolutionary thinking. There&#8217;s some horseshoe theory going on, and these two revolutionary movements can sometimes hold hands.
You see it in a crystallized fashion with the Mamdani campaign. Canary Mission, which is a nonprofit that examines political issues from a right-leaning perspective, examined the impact of the Democratic Socialists of America, which has had an outsized impact on the Democratic Party.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was a charter member of the DSA. Mamdani is a DSA guy. The DSA is the jet fuel for the modern Democratic Party. This is not a Left-leaning, mildly progressive movement; this is a truly revolutionary movement.
How does that kind of movement take over the Democratic Party? Where does it come from? The answer is that it&#8217;s been inculcated by the Boomers for generations. The Boomers and the Millennials are responsible for their children. If your child ends up being a radical, it&#8217;s difficult to say that you had nothing to do with it.
The Boomers and the Millennials decided to inculcate a brand of vague anti-Americanism that then metastasized into a very virulent, cancerous form of anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism.
This is why whenever I hear parents talk about their kids and they say, “I&#8217;m just giving them the tools to think; I&#8217;m not telling them what to think, what values to hold,” that&#8217;s bad parenting.
You should be telling your kids what values to hold. That is the most important thing you should be doing as a parent: becoming part of that chain that Edmund Burke talks about between the past and the future, maintaining the wisdom of generations, and passing that on to your kids.
If you&#8217;re not doing that, you&#8217;re not doing your job as a parent. Instead, parents have been farming out their kids to universities filled with radicals, who then teach the kids radical politics.
We tell an entire generation of people that they are victims of a system that has made them the most wealthy, prosperous, and free people in the history of planet Earth. And then we sell them the soap that if you grant power to one of these people, one of these revolutionaries, they will fix all of their problems.
There are a lot of politicians willing to sell that soap.
The left-wing version of the grievance campaign is that America is an awful, terribly racist place that has aggrieved Third World minorities and cracked down on gays and lesbians and therefore must be brought low by the revolutionaries, that capitalism has brought us all to this horrible fate.
On the Right, there is an equal and opposite movement. It is growing in power. It is not taking over the Republican Party yet, but it&#8217;s attempting to. And that right-wing movement is saying the same thing, except the victims are white Christian males, and the idea would be that white Christian males have been brought low by the system, and that therefore the only corrective action is a complete revolution against capitalism, meritocracy, and all the rest.
In the seed of both of these movements, there is a grain of truth. There is truth to the idea that America, historically speaking, was not good to black people, and historically speaking, was not good to certain classes of immigrants. But it’s a flaw in the system, not a feature of the system.
The same thing is true on the Right. When people say white Christian males have been put under the boot by the system, there&#8217;s certainly truth to the idea that there is discriminatory policy — both socially and in governmental policy — that has discriminated against white Christian males over the course of the last 30, 40, 50 years. There&#8217;s truth to that.
But the idea that such actions are emblematic of the constitutional system or meritocracy or capitalism, and the only solution is some sort of dictatorship of the white Christian male proletariat overthrowing constitutional norms and boundaries, going after minorities, is just as revolutionary from the opposite point of view.
The vast majority of Americans are normies. The vast majority of Americans like meritocracy. The vast majority of Americans believe in the traditional American dream, meaning economic progress for them and for their children, meaning the capacity to build community and church and life in freedom. The vast majority of Americans like the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. The vast majority of Americans like America.
But if you let the radical revolutionary vanguard take over your party with some sort of benighted idea that you must unite with the radicals in order to achieve victory, you&#8217;re not going to achieve victory. And the victory that you achieve will be pyrrhic, because you will have sacrificed what you actually care about to people who hate that very thing.
If this were really working out great for the young, why are they so depressed? Why are they so upset? Why are they so anxious? Why aren&#8217;t they getting married or reproducing?
Inculcating a victimhood grievance mentality in an entire generation of people doesn&#8217;t just inhibit the working of the country, it makes those people miserable as well.

President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the Constitution is &#8220;pretty clear&#8221; on presidential term limits, putting to rest <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trumps-third-term-talk-puts-leftists-in-a-tizzy-again">theories</a> that have been pushed recently about Trump seeking to run again in 2028.
While en route to South Korea, Trump told reporters on Air Force One, “I have my highest poll numbers that I&#8217;ve ever had, and, you know, based on what I read, I guess I&#8217;m not allowed to run.&#8221;
&#8220;I would say that if you read [the Constitution], it&#8217;s pretty clear. I&#8217;m not allowed to run. It&#8217;s too bad,&#8221; Trump added. &#8220;But we have a lot of great people,&#8221; referring to the potential Republican presidential candidates waiting to take the torch from him.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/article/can-trump-run-for-a-third-term-in-2028-mike-johnson-says-he-doesnt-see-the-path-192522300.html">pushed back</a> against the third-term theories on Tuesday, saying, “It&#8217;s been a great run, but I think the president knows, and he and I have talked about, the constrictions of the Constitution.”
The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution, ratified in 1951, states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” The 22nd Amendment was ratified shortly after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected to four consecutive terms before he died in office in 1945.

Theories about Trump running for a third term in 2028 swirled this week after former Trump adviser Steve Bannon said in an interview that &#8220;there is a plan&#8221; to create a path for Trump to run again. Trump would be 82 years old when the 2028 election takes place.
“Trump is going to be president in 2028, and people just ought to get accommodated with that,” Bannon <a href="https://x.com/TheEconomist/status/1981393309869215887">said</a> during an interview with The Economist last week. “We need him for at least one more term, and he’ll get that in 2028.”
Trump was asked about Bannon&#8217;s remarks earlier this week and told reporters that he &#8220;would love&#8221; to run in 2028. Trump&#8217;s and Bannon&#8217;s comments sparked rage and trepidation among political commentators on the Left. Some leftists have also argued that Trump&#8217;s tearing down the East Wing of the White House to build a ballroom is evidence that he plans on staying in office past January 20, 2029.
The president has hinted at a potential 2028 run multiple times in recent months, but has also stated that the idea &#8220;is not something I&#8217;m looking to do.&#8221; Trump&#8217;s official store also sells &#8220;Trump 2028&#8221; hats, keeping alive fears that he could run. But all of the third-term talk appears to just be talk, or possibly a ruse to troll Democrats. Political <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/27/us/politics/trump-third-term-politics.html">analysts</a> have also <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/27/politics/president-trump-third-term-2028">suggested</a> that Trump and his allies are keeping third-term theories alive to prevent Trump from becoming a lame-duck president, which could hinder his agenda as he gets closer to the end of his term.

President Donald Trump riled up leftists again on Monday when he addressed rumors about a potential run for a third term in 2028.
While traveling to Japan on Air Force One, Trump told reporters that he hasn&#8217;t &#8220;really thought about&#8221; running for a third term, but then added, &#8220;I would love to do it.&#8221;
Trump suggested that the GOP didn&#8217;t need him to run to win the next presidential election and was complimentary of Republicans under him who could take the mantle. He name-dropped Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, even saying that Rubio and Vance would be &#8220;unstoppable&#8221; if they joined forces. Trump, however, appeared to leave the door open for another White House run.
&#8220;I would love to do it. I have the best poll numbers I&#8217;ve ever had,&#8221; the president added. &#8220;I mean, I just solved eight wars, and a ninth is coming. I believe Russia-Ukraine will happen.&#8221;

A potential third term came up when a reporter asked Trump about comments made last week by the president&#8217;s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, who said that Trump would serve a third term in the White House. Bannon, who is not serving in the current administration, said that &#8220;there is a plan&#8221; to allow Trump to run again.

On Monday, Trump ruled out one theory of how he could obtain a third term, saying that running as Vance&#8217;s vice president in 2028 and then having Vance step down would &#8220;be allowed,&#8221; but added that it would be &#8220;too cute.&#8221;
&#8220;I wouldn&#8217;t do that. I think it&#8217;s too cute. Yeah, I would rule that out,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think the people wouldn&#8217;t like that. It&#8217;s too cute. It wouldn&#8217;t be right.&#8221;
Multiple leftist political commentators and legacy media hosts latched onto Trump&#8217;s and Bannon&#8217;s remarks, with one commentator even calling them a &#8220;threat,&#8221; rhetoric similar to what progressives have been <a href="https://mikejohnson.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=1571">using more regularly</a> to describe the Trump administration and Republicans. After Trump&#8217;s third-term remarks, CNN host Brianna Keilar interviewed presidential historian and author Alexis Coe, who said that the talk about a third term for Trump &#8220;should be viewed as a threat.&#8221; Coe also suggested that by the 250th birthday of the United States next summer, it could &#8220;no longer&#8221; be a constitutional republic.

Third-term rumors have been swirling again among many on the Left amid Trump&#8217;s East Wing demolition and plans for a White House ballroom. Trump&#8217;s critics argue that no president would make such drastic changes to the White House if he planned on leaving it. Whether Trump is trolling leftists who make these arguments with his remarks on a third term remains unclear, but if he is, it&#8217;s working.
Trump, who would turn 82 before the 2028 presidential election, has brought up serving more than two terms multiple times and has given mixed signals on where he stands on the possibility. The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution states, &#8220;No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.&#8221; The 22nd Amendment was ratified in 1951, shortly after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected to four consecutive terms before he died in office in 1945.
After <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/03/30/trump-third-term">saying</a> in April that &#8220;there are methods&#8221; that would allow him to run again, he <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2028-election/-eight-year-president-trump-weighs-third-term-speculation-rcna204579">told</a> NBC&#8217;s Kristen Welker in May, &#8220;This is not something I&#8217;m looking to do.&#8221;

Over the course of the weekend, Mamdani decided to talk extensively about 9/11 and his feelings about it.
At a press conference in the Bronx, he decided that the real victim of 9/11, the real true victim of 9/11 — where roughly 3,000 Americans were murdered in the worst Islamist terrorist attack ever — was his auntie, who, according to Mamdani, rode the subway and may or may not have received a mean look.
“I want to use this moment to speak to the Muslims of New York City,” Mamdani proclaimed. “I want to speak to the memory of my aunt, who stopped taking the subway after September 11 because she did not feel safe in her hijab.”
He is such a fraud. The fake tears. If you buy into this fraudulent human, you are a fool.
Zohran Mamdani has somehow transformed 9/11, the worst terror event ever on American soil and the worst event in the history of New York City, into a sad story about American Islamophobia.
Do you understand what he&#8217;s doing? The idea is that if he is not elected, the same Islamophobia will be responsible for preventing him from being mayor of New York.
The problem is not his pro-jihadist leanings, which we have detailed multiple times. The problem is not that he has stood for globalizing the intifada, or the Holy Land Five, or that he posed alongside an unindicted coconspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
That&#8217;s not the problem.
The problem — according to Mamdani — is all of you who are mean to him about those things because you are Islamophobic.
He&#8217;s doing the Norm MacDonald joke in which Norm joked that if there were a nuclear bomb set off by Islamic terrorists in the middle of New York City, he would be afraid for the real victims: the Muslims in New York City.
This is what Mamdani is doing now, and it doesn&#8217;t stop there. He&#8217;s making this a central plank of his campaign. Many of the things that people think of as bugs in the Mamdani campaign are features of the Mamdani campaign.
People look at Mamdani and say, “What a weird campaign. Why is he running on Islamophobia? Why doesn’t he just run as a normal progressive Democrat?”
They don&#8217;t understand. These features are the reason a bunch of left-wing Democrats are going to vote for him — and do so enthusiastically. Without the victimhood, he would be a nothing burger. A nothing burger stacked atop a nothing sandwich atop a gigantic junkyard of nothing.
It is the victimhood alone that has elevated Zohran Mamdani.

Now, you may say to yourself, “Wait, he&#8217;s not a victim. Didn&#8217;t his family immigrate from Uganda? Not exactly a nice place to live. And he still holds dual citizenship with Uganda. Aren&#8217;t his parents wealthy? Didn&#8217;t his dad teach at Columbia, and his mom have a career as a film producer? How could this complete, utter, useless human being, a leech on the fat rump of the United States, be a victim?”
The answer is that at some time, somewhere, someone gave him a mean look because of Islamophobia.
The term “Islamophobia” is very often just a cover for “Don&#8217;t criticize radical Islam. If you criticize radical Islam, that&#8217;s a form of Islamophobia.”
Islamophobia is a weird charge because when you look at someone, unless they&#8217;re wearing religious garb, it is very difficult to be Islamophobic. You don&#8217;t even know that they&#8217;re Muslim. Islam is a religion. Islam is not a race. If you saw Zohran Mamdani on the street, you&#8217;d have a hard time pegging his ethnicity, let alone his religion.
But according to Mamdani, the real problem here is for Americans to unravel an unreasoning, irrational fear of Muslims.
Every accusation from Mamdani is an admission. No one has engaged in more bigotry in this campaign than Zohran Mamdani. It is a form of bigotry to endorse “globalize the intifada,” and “Hamas should not disarm.” It&#8217;s bigotry against non-terrorists.
Zohran Mamdani is 33 years old. 9/11 happened 24 years ago — he was nine when 9/11 happened.
I&#8217;m about eight years older than Zohran Mamdani, so I remember 9/11 pretty well because I was a late teen already, and I remember the extraordinary efforts that the federal government, state government, and city government of New York went through in order to tamp down on “Islamophobia.” George W. Bush gave full speeches about how radical Islam was not the same as normal mainstream Islam, how radical Islam was a perversion of Islam, and that there shouldn&#8217;t be any sort of backlash against Muslims. Then the city of New York did the same thing.
Mamdani whining about the treatment of Muslims in a country that is wildly, wildly Muslim-friendly is totally insane. The city of New York, by the way, is now 11% Muslim, which is the same percentage of the Jewish population. We always hear about the big Jewish population in New York. And that&#8217;s true. The same exact population is Muslim in New York now.
Is there radical discrimination against Muslims in New York? By what metric?
How is it that Mamdani can talk about 9/11 and not spare one sentence for the actual victims, the people who leaped to their deaths from the 19th story of the World Trade Center, the people who were crushed beneath millions of pounds of molten steel? Not to mention the firefighters, and the people who got cancer years later from all the dust and debris.
Nothing for them, but his aunt, who got a mean look?
No wave of anti-Muslim hate crimes followed 9/11. Not in New York, nor anywhere else.
Without Mamdani claiming victimhood, he&#8217;s got nothing. Nothing. His program is trash. His candidacy is smugness and ugliness masquerading as kindness. He hates the things that make America go. He hates capitalism. He hates traditional Judeo/Christian religion. He hates traditional values. He hates America&#8217;s role in the world. That&#8217;s who this guy is.
And yet, somehow, this guy, who is apparently rich in the coin of victimhood and one of the least victimized people I have ever conceived of, is a victim.
There&#8217;s been a lot of talk on the Right about the death of wokeness, how wokeness is dying.
No. Wokeness is in remission. It is not dying. The cancer is not yet dead. Wokeness is in remission because wokeness is rooted in the idea that there&#8217;s an internal American victimhood system, and this class of victims cannot be identified by their level of success in American society or prosperity or notoriety. It can be identified specifically by levels of racial diversity and by nontraditional background.
As long as that matrix is undergirding everything that is happening, wokeness is not dead. It&#8217;s just waiting. It&#8217;s just waiting for a sunnier season to burst through the icy frost that has crossed the woke landscape.
There will be a thaw. Mamdani is the thaw, the green shoot of wokeness springing up beneath that permafrost.
That is what he is.

America’s founders appropriately recognized freedom of speech as the most fundamental right for a flourishing republic. But in today’s America, telling the truth carries a cost.
From social media bans to government censorship to silencing dissent inside our statehouses, the message is clear: if you dare to speak the truth, you will pay a price.
I witnessed this firsthand in Maine’s Democrat-controlled state house, where I was stripped of my right to speak for the people of Maine as their elected representative simply for highlighting biological differences between boys and girls in a state competition.
And the problem is getting worse, not better. Without a renewed commitment to our founding ideals, our society may become free in theory, but authoritarian in practice.
My experience in Maine began in February with a viral social media post. A biological male, who had placed fifth in the boys’ competition the year prior, won the girls’ state pole vault championship. Seeing his female competitor relegated to second place broke my heart.
I could not remain silent.
I posted two publicly available photos side by side. One showed the athlete finishing fifth in the boys’ competition one year; the other showed him taking gold in the girls’ competition the next. Official results had already been available for all to see, but this picture made the unfairness of the situation crystal clear.
Girls in Maine, and across the country, were being forced to compete on unequal terms – not only to justify a political cause, but to signal obedience to an ideology that punishes anyone who questions it.
And punished I was. 
The Maine House Speaker demanded I delete my post. When I refused, I was stripped of my right to speak or vote in the Legislature. Unless and until I issued a formal apology, I would remain barred from representing the nearly 9,000 constituents who elected me.
This wasn’t the first time legislative leadership in Maine used procedural tools to suppress dissent. In May of 2021, the Democratic legislative leadership issued a mask mandate, solely for the State House, after Governor Janet Mills had lifted the state mask mandate.
As a result, Mainers were denied their First Amendment right to assemble, to petition their government, and to speak freely, unless they traded a piece of their liberty. 
I knew it was wrong, and alongside five colleagues, I walked in without a mask.
In response, the Speaker stripped us of our committee assignments and barred us from voting. I agonized over what to do, but in the end, I put a face shield back on, telling myself it was my duty to vote for my constituents.
But the truth is I failed to stand strong in defense of the First Amendment. And that failure taught me that when you give in to fear and intimidation, it only encourages more of both.
This year, I chose not to make the same mistake.
Now, in February, I was confronted with a choice again: to give in or keep fighting. For Maine, for our girls, and for our First Amendment, I chose to fight. 
I filed suit against the Legislature after they barred me for exercising my right to speak truthfully about protecting girls’ sports. And the Supreme Court ruled in my favor and restored my vote!
It was, by any normal standard, the right outcome. But it should never have been necessary. An elected official was forced to file a lawsuit to fulfill her duty to the people of Maine, all because she took a stand for women and girls.
These are the things of totalitarian governments, not the United States.
We still talk about the First Amendment as though it protects us in practice as well as in theory. But in much of American life, the real barriers to speech are procedural, reputational and cultural. They come from norms that shift depending on the issue at hand and the politics of the speaker.
When Charlie Kirk was assassinated, I was in Washington, DC. I called home to tell my older children, and my teenager’s first question stopped me in my tracks: “Mom, are you going to stop speaking up?” Without hesitation, I answered: “No. Absolutely not.”
If we stay silent now, we surrender the foundation of liberty. If we bow to intimidation, we hand our children a future where truth is unwelcome and freedom is conditional.
This is not someone else’s fight. It is ours. Parents, teachers, students, pastors, lawmakers, citizens – every one of us has a role to play in protecting the space to speak truthfully, even when it costs us.
This moment is where we stand to lose, or gain, the most. The only way we lose is if we make the choice to silence ourselves.
We cannot be silent. We must speak. We must stand. There is too much at stake to do otherwise.

Bernie Sanders let the cat out of the bag yesterday.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/10/23/bernie-sanders-aoc-2028-presidential-election">Axios</a>, he said what I think we&#8217;ve all been thinking: that AOC is almost certainly going to run for president in 2028 — with the backing of Bernie Sanders.
<blockquote>“She is an incredibly intelligent person and in the best sense of the word, a very, very good politician,” he declared. “I&#8217;ve been out on the streets where the people come up and how she responds to people is so incredibly genuine and open, you know, it&#8217;s just something. That&#8217;s a gift that she has. It&#8217;s a quality that she has. She&#8217;s a great speaker out there. She comes from the working class. She was a kid who was cleaning houses with her mother. She knows what it&#8217;s like not to have any money. And she&#8217;s going out fighting for working families all over this country. And I think as a young person who six years ago was a waitress, becoming politically prominent has been incredibly inspiring.”</blockquote>
She&#8217;s not inspiring.
To the wild Left, however, she is inspiring.
Sure, she is a dunderhead who says unintelligent things every five seconds.
But Bernie Sanders is also a dunderhead, and he&#8217;s been able to get away with it for 2,000 decades at this point. I believe he was a contemporaneous follower of Methuselah.
Sanders has taken over the Democratic Party wholesale at this point.
They are moving further and further to the Left. And one of his chosen acolytes is Graham Platner, the Maine Democrat running for the Senate who leads in the polls by leaps and bounds.

The forum name refers to the Socialist Rifle Association, a group whose members have been repeatedly linked to violent political crimes.
On July 4, a group of militants allegedly swarmed law enforcement at an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas and “opened fire at the unarmed DHS correctional officers.” One of them, Benjamin Hanil Song, is charged with shooting a police officer in the neck. Song was a member of the Socialist Rifle Association’s Dallas-Fort Worth chapter, a fellow group member told <a href="https://www.keranews.org/news/2025-07-22/shooting-at-alvarado-ice-facility-other-attacks-the-new-normal">KERA</a>.
Last week, the Department of Justice charged two suspects in that attack, Cameron Arnold and Zachary Evetts, with providing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-hits-antifa-with-very-first-terrorism-charges-in-anti-ice-attack">material support to terrorists</a>, calling their crew an “Antifa Cell.” It was the first use of the terrorism statute against domestic extremists since Trump ordered a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-ups-the-ante-orders-cabinet-to-label-antifa-a-foreign-terror-organization">crackdown</a> on far-left political violence. Arnold, like the founders of the Socialist Rifle Association, is transgender and goes by the name Autumn Hill.
Membership in the Socialist Rifle Association isn’t required for users to post on the Reddit forum. But a New England publication, the <a href="https://robinsonreport.substack.com/p/ex-marine-graham-platner-taught-military">Robinson Report</a>, revealed that Platner explicitly described his membership in the group.
“Check out the Maine SRA chapter, we’re quite active,” he wrote in April 2020. In August 2020, he said “my local SRA chapter” does “lots of range days, firearms education classes, and developing mutual aid networks in our community.”</blockquote>
Images of the main chapter include a man training in a pink tutu shooting a gun, and one who has facial hair matching Platner’s.
This is a person, a Nazi-tattooed Antifa-training pseudo-man-of-the-people oyster farmer, who went to a $75,000-a-year prep school when he was younger.
And he’s Sanders’ chosen guy in the Senate race in Maine. If the Democrats wish to embrace this sort of radicalism, I do not think the American people will move alongside them.

I know there are a lot of Republicans who are rooting for the socialists to take over the Democratic Party.
I am not.
I&#8217;ve been saying this since 2020, when Bernie Sanders was running against Joe Biden. I said I preferred Joe Biden to be the nominee rather than Bernie Sanders, even if Bernie was more likely to lose to Donald Trump.
Why? Because the risk factor in having a socialist leader was higher than the risk factor in having a “dead” leader like Joe Biden.
Even if Joe Biden had slightly higher odds to win the presidency than Bernie Sanders, if I had to calculate the damage that a Bernie Sanders presidency would do versus a Joe Biden presidency, it would be astronomically higher under Bernie Sanders than Joe Biden, no matter how bad Joe Biden was.
I feel the same way about the Democratic Party falling wholesale to the wild-Left democratic socialists. If they do that, it’s true there&#8217;s a lower chance that they will win power anytime soon.
But to pretend that chance doesn&#8217;t exist is to whistle past the graveyard.
Let&#8217;s say, for example, that the Democratic Party has a 40% shot of winning the White House in 2028 right now with some sort of pseudo-moderate, like a Gavin Newsom or a Wes Moore. And let&#8217;s say they have a 30% shot of winning the White House with a clear, insane socialist like AOC at the top of the ticket.
The damage that would be done by Wes Moore or Gavin Newsom would be a seven out of ten, and the damage done by an AOC would be a ten out of ten.
I would rather take the low-risk scenario, even if there&#8217;s a greater risk that the person might become president, than take the absolutely disastrous apocalyptic scenario of having a Democratic party controlled by the nutjobs.
This is why the rise of the Zohran Mamdani Left is truly, truly troubling.

In 2018, I decided to expand Blackhall. Around the same time, the Atlanta Police Foundation planned a state-of-the-art public safety training facility to make Atlanta safer. The “Cop City” idea — next door to our planned expansion — was meant to train police and first responders to protect communities like DeKalb’s. To make it happen, I struck a land swap deal with DeKalb County: 55 acres of my studio’s land for 40 acres of Intrenchment Creek Park.
At the time, county officials and local leaders enthusiastically backed the deal. The county treated me as a partner, excited for the economic boost.
Then, in early 2021, Antifa showed up.

<h3>The Turn: Antifa’s War On Progress</h3>
Hiding behind the “Defend the Atlanta Forest” banner, these “squatters” occupied the property, calling it “Weelaunee People’s Park.” To me, they didn’t appear to be peaceful environmentalists, but anarchists, funded and fueled by Antifa’s network, bent on sabotaging both our development and Cop City.
Their treehouses and protests were just the beginning of the chaos they would unleash. The “squatters’” antics turned violent fast. Rocks and full beer cans were thrown at workers on the site.
Then came the relentless legal battles. In 2020, the South River Watershed Alliance (SRWA) <a href="https://caselaw.findlaw.com/court/ga-court-of-appeals/116643343.html">sued me and DeKalb County</a>, alleging the land swap was illegal. Of course, it was not illegal, but abusive litigation is a hallmark of modern leftist terrorists. I filed an affidavit defending the deal, but the county’s response was indirect and they began to backpedal. I believe Antifa’s pressure campaign, with their deep pockets and activist networks, caused officials to abandon me.
Still, I had to fight back. So, I hired contractors and off-duty DeKalb police officers to secure the property. In a heated confrontation in July of 2022, protesters hurled objects at my team. Antifa lit my truck and trailer on fire and turned it into a bonfire of effigy. Then, in October of 2022, activists successfully <a href="https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/anonymous-activist-claims-responsibility-for-blaze-at-dekalb-film-studio-may-this-be-a-warning-to-them">torched</a> Shadowbox Studios (formerly Blackhall).

Meanwhile, I faced an onslaught of media attacks and online smears. A former attorney filed a public lawsuit that became fodder for hit pieces in local and national outlets. Social media campaigns — many from self-identified Antifa supporters — accused me of everything from greed to corruption.
I worked hard to protect my family from all the chaos, but my wife bore the brunt of the stress, living under the shadow of Antifa’s harassment and online threats.
<h3>Where I Stand Today: Fighting For Truth</h3>
More than four years later, the 40 acres I still own remain undeveloped, stalled by the prolonged protests, various lawsuits, and political shenanigans.
I sold Blackhall in 2021 to Commonwealth Group, now Shadowbox Studios, and shifted my focus to other endeavors.
Meanwhile, Cop City finally opened, a victory for law and order despite Antifa’s relentless opposition. President Trump himself highlighted the facility at a roundtable with independent journalists, calling out Antifa’s role in the violence against projects like mine. Their funding, likely from shadowy leftist groups, has fueled the chaos, from car burnings to media smear campaigns, all to stop progress.

Through it all, my family has been my rock. My wife, kids, and I have faced these attacks together, though the strain of Antifa’s threats and character assassination nonsense has tested us. I have lost many friendships throughout the city and the world because of this manufactured toxicity. But my faith keeps me grounded, and I’m fighting to protect my legacy for my family and community.
This story isn’t just mine — it’s happening in other pockets of America.
Look at the Dakota Access Pipeline, where <a href="https://northdakotamonitor.com/briefs/north-dakota-us-working-to-settle-in-dispute-over-dakota-access-pipeline-protest-costs/">protests</a> against a $3.8 billion oil project in 2016 led to blockades, sabotage, and over 700 arrests, delaying completion and costing developers millions, all fueled by environmental and indigenous activism that echoed Antifa’s tactics.
Consider Tim Pool, the conservative podcaster who bought a derelict lot in West Virginia in 2023 to <a href="https://x.com/Timcast/status/1900216701108564402">build a skatepark</a> for local youth. His dream of a safe space for skaters to hang out was derailed by over two years of vandalism, gang tags, and anonymous threats, driven by opposition to his right-wing politics. Pool was forced to shut it down in 2025, a loss for the community he aimed to serve.
That’s not activism. That’s sabotage.
<h3>A Call For Courage</h3>
These cases and many others show how Antifa and their allies use funded protests, media hit jobs, digital attacks, and endless lawsuits to grind progress to a halt, targeting conservatives with anything they can manufacture to destroy them.
In sharing my experience, I hope to help expose Antifa’s playbook — using chaos and lies to silence those who dare build or challenge their agenda. It’s a call to stand up to their intimidation and defend the America that values hard work and entrepreneurial life.
The past four years have been brutal. Publicly, I’ve been vilified, my name dragged through the mud by Antifa’s allies in the media. But I won’t let terrorists define me. I’m still here, building, fighting, and believing in a country that rewards grit, intelligence, and an indefatigable spirit. They can burn my cars and spread lies, but they won’t break me, this country, or the truth.
To say that I’m excited that President Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-designates-antifa-a-major-terrorist-organization">designated Antifa</a> a terrorist group on October 7, 2025 after Charlie Kirk&#8217;s death is an understatement. I’ve known this truth for many years. These people hate America, hate Americanism, and want to see every hard-working, red-blooded American subjugated to their chaos. We must not let that happen.
