The leftist New York City Council passed legislation on Thursday that pushes the largest city in the U.S. closer to a program that would hand out reparations to black residents.
The passage of two bills sponsored by Councilmembers Crystal Hudson and Farah Louis means NYC taxpayers will now fund a &#8220;Truth, Healing and Reconciliation Commission&#8221; along with a reparations task force, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/nyc-council-passes-slavery-reparations-legislation-yield-material-solutions-from-us-history" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The legislation will also require information signs to be posted at the site of New York City&#8217;s &#8220;first slave market,&#8221; according to a <a href="https://council.nyc.gov/press/2024/09/12/2692/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a> from the city council.
&#8220;The legacy of slavery and systemic racism has impacted all facets of our society today, and it’s important that our city recognizes and takes steps to redress these longstanding harms,” NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams said. &#8220;By creating new processes to fully examine the present-day impacts of injustices inflicted on Black New Yorkers and communities, we are advancing necessary efforts to consider potential remedies that can lead to healing and reconciliation.&#8221;
Hudson, who sponsored one of the bills, said the passage of her legislation is a major step in her &#8220;Black Agenda for New York City.&#8221; She added that &#8220;it is [her] hope that as the nation’s largest city––with the biggest municipal budget––our truth, healing, and reconciliation process will work; it will identify racist, anti-Black policies at the foundation of our city’s institutions, and it will yield material solutions to address these foundational cracks.&#8221;

Louis, whose bill focused on starting a reparations task force, said, &#8220;Throughout my tenure in the Council, we have heard countless testimonies and conducted numerous hearings revealing the ongoing impacts of historical injustices. Black women, in particular, continue to be disadvantaged in both public and private sectors, facing systemic inequities that hinder their progress and well-being. Addressing these compounded injustices is essential to forming a more just municipality and society.&#8221;
Republican City Council Minority Leader Joseph Borelli blasted the legislation, telling <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/09/11/us-news/nyc-council-expected-to-back-taskforce-to-study-reparations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the New York Post</a> that he would move out of the city before paying reparations.
&#8220;If they can introduce me to one New Yorker who owned a slave I’d be happy to consider it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But until then, I am not paying a dime as a reparation for a harm I did not cause, nor condone, nor once participated in.&#8221;
Numerous cities — and the states of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-york-governor-kathy-hochul-signs-bill-creating-task-force-to-consider-race-based-reparations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York</a> and <a href="https://apnews.com/article/california-reparations-budget-black-25a4e549c64fafde3f71f77c201b3030" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California</a> — have created reparations task forces in the wake of George Floyd&#8217;s death and the protests and riots in the summer of 2020. Many of the task forces have failed to yield any significant results, and two members of Detroit&#8217;s reparations task force <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/members-resign-from-detroits-reparations-task-force-over-lack-of-progress-no-broad-strategic-vision" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stepped down</a> last year after expressing frustration over the lack of &#8220;progress.&#8221;
Even though slavery was never legal in California, the state&#8217;s exploration into slavery reparations has seen the most success, with Gov. Gavin Newsom signing a state budget in July that included <a href="https://apnews.com/article/california-reparations-budget-black-25a4e549c64fafde3f71f77c201b3030" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$12 million</a> for reparations legislation.
Vice President Kamala Harris has also <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/harris-now-mum-reparations-she-signaled-support-2020-white-house-run" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expressed her support</a> for reparations, saying in 2019, &#8220;I think there has to be some form of reparations, and we could discuss what that is, but look, we’re looking at more than 200 years of slavery. We’re looking at almost 100 years of Jim Crow.&#8221;
She also said as a candidate in 2019 that if elected president, she would sign a bill that would provide reparations to the descendants of African slaves. The Harris campaign has not said if the Democratic nominee still supports that position.

Jordan B. Peterson: What did you learn as a consequence of doing the movie, and why should people go see it, as far as you&#8217;re concerned?
Matt Walsh: I think there are several things. Maybe the main thing that I learned — and I don&#8217;t know if it&#8217;s learned so much as had illustrated for me — but a lot of people who fall for this… You know, there are the people that push it: the Robin D&#8217;Angelo types, the women who run the race to dinner we have in the film—
Peterson: Oh, yes. Saira Rao … She runs those dinners where the white women pay to be humiliated by two unbelievably narcissistic <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/characteristics-of-a-psychopath-and-the-making-of-the-dark-tetrad">psychopaths</a> so that they actually feel good about themselves without actually having to do any more or having to put in any of the moral effort.
Walsh: Exactly, exactly. And that&#8217;s the thing. Those types of people, the people who are running the show, that&#8217;s one thing. And I don&#8217;t know how much they even believe a lot of what they&#8217;re saying. I don&#8217;t think they believe all of it, certainly. And there&#8217;s not a lot to be learned about them. I think that they&#8217;re grifters. They&#8217;re con artists. They&#8217;re making a lot of money on this stuff. That&#8217;s a big part of the motivation. It&#8217;s not very complicated.

But what&#8217;s more interesting to me are the women who would sit around that table who are paying money to be there, or the people who would willingly attend one of these seminars that we have in the film, people who would willingly read Robin D&#8217;Angelo&#8217;s book. I&#8217;ve always been more interested in them. Like what&#8217;s going on with them? And what I found making the film is that, you really can&#8217;t overstate the guilt that these people are walking around with. White guilt. White guilt is a very real phenomenon. I knew that making the movie, but having it illustrated so profoundly was still pretty enlightening to me, that a lot of these people are just walking around with a lot of guilt.
And, for a sane, rational white person like myself and you, it can be hard to understand because I&#8217;ve never spent any time feeling guilty about slavery or Jim Crow. I had nothing to do with it. I&#8217;ve never spent any time feeling guilty about it at all. And so it&#8217;s hard for us to understand people who, not only have they felt guilt about it, but they&#8217;re overcome with guilt by this kind of thing. 
Peterson: How much of that, though, too, is that they want to signal how overcome by guilt they are so that they look like hypermoral agents? I see the same thing with mothers, in particular, who brandish their <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-identity-crisis-a-struggle-with-ones-self">trans children</a> like their flag of pride. It&#8217;s like, “Oh, look at how upset and confused my child is, and yet I&#8217;m still wonderful enough to love them no matter what.” It&#8217;s a really malevolent game. And that parading your self-flagellation indicates the profundity of your guilt, that&#8217;s a pretty bloody ugly game too. 
Now, I understand that there&#8217;s a fair bit of genuine moral confusion mixed in there, but the self-serving in public — you notice that those women go to those dinners in groups. It&#8217;s not Saira Rao and her pathological partner with one woman. They have to do that group so they can signal to each other the depths of their moral virtue.
Walsh: Yes, I think that’s certainly right. There&#8217;s a certain amount of virtue signaling that goes into it for sure. But the race to dinner — just using that again as an example — that&#8217;s seven or eight minutes in the movie, but, of course, you&#8217;re making a movie, especially a movie like this, they take a lot longer to film, and that was really two hours. I mean, that dinner went on for two hours, and you can see these women sitting around at this table at various points crying, seemingly very much overcome with emotion talking about their racism that they feel, given opportunities to talk about examples of when they committed racist acts, and then they share their examples. And it&#8217;s like none of the examples they give are actual racism.
And yes, again, some of that is them just showing off, but I do think that at the core of it, there is real guilt here. And we could spend another two hours psychoanalyzing this, but my own theory about how they can feel this guilt is that it&#8217;s a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/substitutes-for-religion-are-meaningless">replacement for religion</a>. Almost all of them are irreligious people. Even if they would call themselves Christian, they&#8217;re not really. And traditionally, religion has given us an answer for guilt. 
Now, I don&#8217;t feel any racial guilt, I don’t feel any white guilt. But I do feel guilt. I do experience guilt for things that I do that are wrong. If I commit sins, I feel guilty about them. But then, I turn to my faith and that gives me an answer for, number one, why I feel that guilt, what that guilt is from, and then what to do with it, what I do about that guilt. And I can turn to my faith and get an answer to all of that. 
But if you take religion out of it, well, now you&#8217;ve still got people that are sinning, that are doing evil acts, and so they&#8217;re still going to feel the guilt because of it. But they don&#8217;t have a way of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/why-its-psychologically-dangerous-to-confuse-political-ideologies-with-religious-movements">understanding that guilt</a>. They don&#8217;t have any way of interpreting it. And so they look around for someone to tell them what to do with the guilt. And then these racial husslers are there, and then they&#8217;ll tell you, “Oh, I&#8217;ll tell you why you feel guilty. It&#8217;s because of this.” That’s a big part of it. 
Peterson: Well, I think that&#8217;s a good analysis. When you were a somewhat profligate 24-year-old, you needed to channel the meaninglessness and the guilt that was associated with your unmoored life into something that was properly sacrificial. And you <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/an-act-of-faith-why-marriage-is-far-better-than-the-single-life">got married</a> and you <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/why-marriage-is-the-highest-form-of-play">had kids</a>. That provides a pathway where you can <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-more-reliable-and-meaningful-aim-than-happiness">discharge your moral duty</a>. That&#8217;s the thing. 
It&#8217;s necessary for human beings to discharge their moral duty; otherwise, they&#8217;ll be overwhelmed by feelings of inadequacy and self-deprecation. That&#8217;s because we are communal and social creatures, and we have to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/family-dinners-shared-meals-and-the-importance-of-social-engagement">live in relationship</a> to other people. If we don&#8217;t do that, we violate our deepest instincts or our most divine calling.
As you said, for the typical person, you find that expiation of your self-centeredness in responsibility to your wife, like long-term committed responsibility, and to your kids, to your grandkids, and to that multi-generational endeavor. If we didn&#8217;t have that propensity for guilt, we wouldn&#8217;t be social the way that we are. And it can be exploited by the sadistic, narcissistic, histrionic psychopaths. And the women who run that race to dinner are great examples of that. Man, they’re something to watch.

Interpreting Guilt: How White Guilt Becomes A Replacement For Religion

In the 21st century, America’s public education system has emphasized one value over all others: inclusion. There is no more ubiquitous word in the public education system than this. Visit the campus or website of nearly any public school — whether it be an elementary school in rural Alabama or a university in California — and you will be inundated with references to the many permutations of the word. School administrators have spent billions of dollars on so-called inclusivity initiatives.
In fact, most public universities have established departments dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. By the time students graduate from college, they will have been instructed on the importance of “inclusion” countless times. Yet, decades of institutional emphasis on inclusion has not made students themselves more inclusive. America is far more divided on almost every measure than we were 25 years ago. And our disagreements are marked by suspicion and animosity towards people who think differently.
So, the question is: Why? Why did these efforts fail? The answer is simple: Actions speak louder than words. While mouthing the platitudes of inclusion, public school administrators have been simultaneously censoring, shutting down, and punishing anyone who expresses an opinion different than the school-approved orthodoxy. The examples are innumerable.
Middle school student <a href="https://adflegal.org/case/lm-v-town-middleborough?utm_source=dailywire&amp;utm_medium=oped" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Liam Morrison</a> arrived at his Middleborough, Massachusetts, school one day wearing a T-shirt saying, “There are only two genders.” While his school openly advances the idea that gender is a limitless spectrum — and they encourage students to wear clothing supporting that idea — Liam decided to take a peaceful stance that biology matters when it comes to human sexuality.
For that, school officials first <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/middle-school-banned-boy-from-wearing-two-genders-shirt-family-prepares-to-sue" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demanded that he remove</a> his shirt. When he declined to take it off, they sent him home. Not long after, the school sent him to the principal’s office again when he wore a shirt saying, “There are [censored] genders.” Liam is currently pursuing an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit denied him the right to free speech.
In 2022, <a href="https://adflegal.org/case/dejong-v-pembrook?utm_source=dailywire&amp;utm_medium=oped" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maggie DeJong</a> was a graduate student in Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s (SIUE) art therapy program. Like most college students in America, Maggie posted on her social media accounts to discuss a variety of hot topics, including religion, politics, COVID-19 restrictions, and more. Maggie also expressed her opinion on these topics in class discussions and private messages to her fellow classmates, often taking a different viewpoint than other students.

It’s normal to have disagreements. And it’s not unusual to feel hurt by a disagreement, even if the other person has all the best intentions in the world. What is not normal is government officials punishing students for discussing their own opinions.
Yet that’s exactly what SIUE officials did to Maggie when a student complained to the university, which then issued unconstitutional no-contact orders between Maggie and three other students. Alliance Defending Freedom, where I serve as a senior counsel and the director of the Center for Academic Freedom, helped Maggie sue the university. In the settlement in Maggie’s favor in 2023, the university agreed to change its no-contact rule policy and required three professors to undergo free speech training conducted by ADF attorneys.
Punishing people based on their speech isn’t just limited to students. <a href="https://adflegal.org/case/josephson-v-ganzel?utm_source=dailywire&amp;utm_medium=oped" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Allan Josephson</a> is a distinguished child psychologist who once was employed by the University of Louisville. Not only is he well-respected in his field, but he also took the university’s struggling Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychology in 2003 and turned it around.
In 2017, Dr. Josephson was invited by The Heritage Foundation — in his own personal capacity — to speak about children struggling with gender dysphoria. Dr. Josephson cautioned against the rush to treat a child’s discomfort with their sex with irreversible medical procedures (a position that is increasingly being validated by health authorities throughout Europe). But, because his view clashed with other university officials’ positions, the school ostracized and ultimately fired Dr. Josephson. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit recently <a href="https://adflegal.org/press-release/6th-circuit-vindicates-louisville-professors-freedom-speech?utm_source=dailywire&amp;utm_medium=oped" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruled</a> in favor of Dr. Josephson, allowing the case to go on to the trial phase.
Schools that preach “inclusivity” are some of the worst offenders when it comes to excluding people for their beliefs — from middle school to graduate school; from students to faculty alike. That is the textbook definition of hypocrisy. Our kids know what it is even if they don’t have the word to define it. And they can tell that it’s wrong.
Kids learn the ABCs of civility from adults — always tell the truth, be open-minded, care for others — and then see their teachers act the exact opposite. This foments resentment and division, not unity. In other words, despite all of the emphasis on inclusion, America’s public schools are creating division, not inclusion.
How do we turn down the temperature of this ever-increasing rage that’s widening the division in our country? It may seem like a large task, but the first step is relatively easy: School officials have to practice what they preach. Inclusivity applies to everyone, not just those who express the government’s approved message. If we must follow the science, then follow the science, even if science disproves your preferred narrative.
And while all ideas must be open for expression (and equally open to question), appropriate boundaries must be drawn for how ideas are put to the test. Universities must enact and enforce rules that neutrally promote peace and civility, not a descent into violence and chaos. If school officials truly want to foster a culture of inclusivity and unity, they must lead by example.

Public School Educators Don’t Practice The ‘Inclusivity’ That They Preach

It’s election season, which means Hollywood is pulling out all the stops to push a Democrat over the top.
We’ve already seen White Dudes for Harris, preaching stars at the Democratic National Convention, and wall-to-wall social media messages from the likes of Mark Hamill and Rob Reiner.
Now, it’s time to talk politics at your neighborhood movie house.
This year offers a twist to that tried and blue formula. A few titles buck the progressive narrative, offering a different take on presidential politics. It’s both a sign of the times and a warning shot across the cultural bow.
“Hollywood” takes on a whole new meaning as upstart media companies disrupt the usual narratives.
The most prominent title still clings to DNC talking points. “The Apprentice,” which made a splash at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, explores the early years of real estate mogul Donald Trump, played by Sebastian Stan.
AKA the Republican nominee for the White House.
Director Ali Abbasi says the film, slated for an October 11 release, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/apprentice-movie-donald-trump-sebastian-stan-jeremy-strong-dfaa84ffa521b9f54b6104a8515891ef" target="_blank" rel="noopener">isn’t a hit piece</a>. Nor is he telling Americans how to vote.
To quote a popular meme, “Sure, Jan.”
“Do I want to show you some stuff about character? Yes, I would very much love that and I think we have some great stuff to show … What you do with that knowledge is up to you. But that knowledge might come in handy if you want to go and vote.”
Team Trump already cried foul over the film, particularly a scene where Stan’s Trump assaults then-wife Ivana Trump (Maria Bakalova from “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”). The real Ivana Trump leveled the charge during divorce proceedings but later recanted on the record.
Abbasi included the scene anyway.
Here’s Ivana in her own words years later: “I have recently read some comments attributed to me from nearly 30 years ago at a time of very high tension during my divorce from Donald. The story is totally without merit,” Ivana said in a <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/28/politics/donald-trump-adviser-michael-cohen-rape/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> to CNN.
“Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of. I have nothing but fondness for Donald and wish him the best of luck on his campaign. Incidentally, I think he would make an incredible president.”
A more curious anti-Trump film looms in the not-so-distant future, and while there’s no official release date it seems absurd that it won’t go live before November 5.
“2073” is speculative fiction, a quasi-documentary that examines where the world might be if we keep heading in the wrong direction. Think income inequality, climate change, and other progressive talking points run wild.
The film’s teaser features footage of villains like Vladimir Putin and Trump, the latter suggesting the dystopian vision has roots in his presidency. The Trump connection doesn’t end there. The film, which just bowed at the Venice Film Festival, features a brief visual tease of more Trumpian leaders.
A digital billboard announces “Chairwoman Trump celebrates 30th year in power,” complete with Ivanka Trump’s image.
Subtle.
It’s the kind of hard-left content that may draw little attention at the cineplex but outsized media coverage. That’s already happened.
Another project promises a microscopic audience on two fronts. A new CNN documentary (a contradiction in terms given the platform’s overt bias) called “<a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/kamala-harris-documentary-short-film-bakari-sellers-1235986229/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala</a>” should drop sometime in October, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Don’t expect Harris’ word salad speeches or epic flip-flops to get a fair hearing.
Documentaries rarely score big with audiences. Plus, the title in question is a short film, further hampering its potential. The title will reportedly shift to VOD platforms before Election Day, which seems a better fit given its length.
Conservatives have several options as election season marches on. Consider the latest installment in the “God’s Not Dead” saga, out September 12. Subtitled, “In God We Trust,” the sequel finds Pastor Dave (David A.R. White) running for Congress against a far-Left zealot (Ray Price) who loathes religion.
Cultural sparks fly, with our hero struggling to balance his Christian beliefs with the rough and tumble world of Beltway politics.
The film’s cast alone, including openly conservative stars like Scott Baio and Samaire Armstrong, sends a political message. So, too, does the film’s plot which is both pro-faith and anti-progressive.
By now, the franchise is preaching directly to the choir, but said choir is given few choices at the movies. Or, at least, that was once the case.
This year is a little different.
The Daily Wire team that uncorked “What Is a Woman?” two years ago returns with an even more incendiary title. “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/am-i-racist-official-trailer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Am I Racist?</a>” finds star Matt Walsh going undercover as a trained DEI instructor to expose the radical movement.
The film <a href="https://www.amiracist.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hits theaters</a> nationwide on September 13, the first time a Daily Wire title moves out from behind a paywall. And the timing couldn’t be better. DEI policies are under fire across the country, and Team Trump has little appetite for the measures.

The Democratic ticket, by stark comparison, is headed by a politician many see as the ultimate DEI hire, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Democrats have been amplifying January 6 for years, yet the party curiously kept the topic mostly off-stage during the recent DNC convention in Chicago.
Now, The Babylon Bee is resurrecting that day for a mockumentary sure to make the Left squirm. “January 6: The Most Deadliest Day,” available October 11 for Bee subscribers, takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the Capitol riot.
The mockumentary’s paywall suggests the film won’t find a wide audience, but the Bee’s brand of satire hits both sides enough to suggest some center-left viewers may find a message in the comic madness.
And, if the satire lands as expected, it could leave a mark.
That’s the whole goal of October surprises, to make voters think twice before making their votes heard.

Multiple large corporations are pumping the brakes on their ultra-woke diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as Americans are sending them a strong message: they want quality products over political stunts. 
It’s good to see that some companies are finally recognizing the disastrous effect of their downright discriminatory practices. 
As first revealed by conservative activist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pure-lunacy-robby-starbuck-on-exposing-dei-in-corporate-america">Robby Starbuck</a> on X, Ford, Harley-Davidson, Lowe’s, Tractor Supply, Molson Coors, and Jack Daniel’s distiller Brown-Forman have all recently pulled back on DEI and LGBT hiring initiatives. Some of these companies announced changes after Starbuck emailed corporate offices, asking about their woke policies. 
Late last month, Lowe’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lowes-cuts-ties-with-leftist-activist-group-scales-back-dei-initiatives">told</a> its employees that it would no longer fund LGBT “Pride” events or participate in the corporate equality index, which is run by the leftist Human Rights Council (HRC). In a memo, Lowe’s cited the Supreme Court ruling affirmative action admission practices at universities unconstitutional. 
“Like many other companies, in July 2023 after the Supreme Court’s decision in the Harvard/UNC cases, we began reviewing our diversity and inclusion programs to ensure that they are lawful and aligned with our commitment to include everyone in the incredible opportunities at Lowe’s and ensure that no one is excluded,” the company wrote.
Harley-Davidson similarly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/harley-davidson-becomes-latest-company-to-back-away-from-dei-policies">said</a> last month, “It is critical to our business that we hire and retain the best talent and that all employees feel welcome. That said, we have not operated a DEI function since April 2024, and we do not have a DEI function today. We do not have hiring quotas and we no longer have supplier diversity goals.”
Ford also <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/ford-coors-gay-rights-index-dei-04c4ff94?mod=hp_lead_pos1">announced</a> that it would no longer send workplace data to the HRC, which pushes companies to hire more LGBT-identifying people. The political activists over at the HRC are, of course, beside themselves. How could these companies dare defy the Left’s agenda? Well, as has been true throughout the history of capitalism, money talks.

The Israeli Left, intent on finding a way to topple Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing government, tried to implement a labor strike that would have crippled the country while it is at war with the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah and suffered a disastrous defeat.
Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David had called for a strike to start on Sunday, ostensibly because he argued that the government was not doing enough to bring hostages back  — a spurious claim as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has conducted successful operations to rescue hostages and Netanyahu has repeatedly accepted cease-fire proposals which Hamas has always rejected — but in reality was an attempt to bring the right-wing government down.
But Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, with the consent of Netanyahu, filed an injunction with Israel’s labor court to block the strike. The Gvura Forum, which represents family members of fallen soldiers, filed a similar injunction.

“The court ruled soon after hearing the case that since the strike was &#8216;a protest&#8217; by nature and not related to workers’ rights, it needed to have been coordinated in advance and lasted for a limited period of a few hours,” the Jerusalem Post <a href="https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-817363">reported</a>. “The strike was announced less than 12 hours prior to its start and was not limited, and was therefore illegal, the court ruled. The court added that the ruling was only relevant to the Histadrut and that other unions as well as business forums were not included.”
“The days where someone harnesses the power of organized work to advance political interests” were over, “especially during a war and when it serves the interests of Hamas and [its leader Yahya] Sinwar.”
“A large number of municipalities and regional councils did not join Monday&#8217;s strike,” Israel National News <a href="https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/395592">noted</a>.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak leads opposition to Netanyahu’s government. Barak has demonstrated his contempt for Israel’s most sacred places before and the Jewish connection to the land of Israel for decades; in June, the Israel State Archives released material that revealed that during the 2000 negotiations with terrorist Palestine Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat, Barak was ready to give up Israeli sovereignty over parts of the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, the holiest place in Judaism.

“At the Camp David talks five months earlier, Barak had already offered the Palestinian Authority control over territories that went far beyond what most Israeli military strategists believed the nation could give up and still retain defensible borders,” the Jewish News Syndicate <a href="https://www.jns.org/jns/israel/23/7/19/303916/">noted</a>, adding that U.S. envoy Dennis Ross admitted, “Barak’s government … formally accepted ideas that would effectively divide East Jerusalem, end the IDF’s presence in the Jordan Valley, and produce a Palestinian state in roughly 97 percent of the West Bank [as well as all of Gaza].”
In January. Barak co-signed a<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/26/opinion/congress-netanyahu-gaza-war.html"> letter</a> published in The New York Times urging Congress to rescind their offer for Netanyahu to speak before them. In June, he wrote an <a href="applewebdata://2C1B764D-80DB-4D5E-8056-C6102B0C36BC/We%20need%20to%20immediately%20replace%20this%20failed%20government">opinion piece</a> in the hard-Left publication Ha’aretz stating, “Israel is being led by a government and a prime minister who are patently unfit for their offices.”

During a rally on Friday, former President Donald Trump played a new ad which takes aim at Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> by using her own past remarks against her.
Harris, the Democrats&#8217; effective 2024 presidential nominee, has an extremely left-wing history in politics, and voiced similarly radical positions during her failed 2020 presidential run. Video clips of those staked out positions by Harris were compiled by Trump&#8217;s team and featured in the new ad.
The ad opens up with the text, &#8220;Here&#8217;s what Kamala Harris would do as president&#8221; as audio plays of Harris bragging about being &#8220;radical.&#8221;
It then shows the VP voicing support for the controversial Green New Deal, issuing a total ban on fracking, supporting gun confiscation, eliminating private health insurance, providing taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants, and supporting the radical &#8220;defund the police&#8221; movement, among other far-Left issues.
The ad closes with the text, &#8220;Kamala Harris: Failed. Weak. Dangerously liberal.&#8221;

As highlighted in the ad, Harris said in 2019 that there&#8217;s &#8220;no question&#8221; she&#8217;s &#8220;in favor of banning fracking.&#8221;
“And starting with what we can do on Day 1 around public lands,&#8221; she said. &#8220;This is something I’ve taken on in California. I have a history on this issue.”
She further told CNN&#8217;s Jake Tapper that she supports a single-payer, Medicare for All bill that would eliminate private health insurance. “Let’s eliminate all of that. Let’s move on,” she told the host.

Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso (R-WY) highlighted this week the extreme record that Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> has amassed while serving as an elected official in the U.S. government.
Barrasso made the remarks during a press conference Tuesday afternoon as Harris moves to officially lock up the Democratic Party&#8217;s presidential nomination after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
&#8220;The Democrats have successfully benched their starting quarterback, Joe Biden, and have replaced him with someone equally incompetent – but much more liberal – to call the plays, as Vice President Kamala Harris has been leading the cheers for the party of high prices and open borders,&#8221; Barrasso began.
&#8220;As Vice President, she broke the tie 17 times on radical nominees, some who want to defund the police,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;She broke the tie to pass the reckless tax and spending bill, which brought us the highest inflation in 40 years. And as the border czar, she opened the floodgates, 10 million illegal immigrants invaded our country.&#8221;
Barrasso noted that a non-partisan ranking from a congressional tracking site ranked Harris as the most far-Left member of the U.S. Senate, even more left-wing than socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
Harris is &#8220;somebody that proposed eliminating private health insurance for Americans but yet she wants to pay for health care for illegal immigrants,&#8221; he noted. &#8220;In the Senate, she cosponsored the Green New Deal. And she proposed eliminating fracking, which would drive energy prices even higher. She helped raise money for bail for criminals in our jails. And at the same time, she&#8217;s made it easier for illegal immigrants to stay here when they are criminals. The damage that she has done is cumulative. Prices are up 20% since she came into office. 10 million illegal immigrants. That&#8217;s why three out of four Americans say the country is headed in the wrong direction.&#8221;

Senator Barrasso Highlights Kamala Harris’ Extreme Record

Daily Wire reporter Megan Basham&#8217;s latest book revealing the leftist influences on American Evangelicalism hit the shelves on Tuesday and quickly jumped into the <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/new-releases/books/?ie=UTF8&amp;ref_=sv_b_3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">top 10 bestsellers</a> in new book releases on Amazon. 
In “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Shepherds-Sale-Evangelical-Leaders-Leftist-ebook/dp/B0CRQGNLMY">Shepherds for Sale: How Evangelical Leaders Traded the Truth for a Leftist Agenda</a>,” Basham “documents how progressive powerbrokers — from George Soros, to the founder of eBay, to former members of the Obama administration — set out to change the American church. Their goal: to co-opt evangelicals for political purposes.” 
The book also documents how a megachurch pastor pushed fellow pastors to move their views on sexuality to the Left and how leftist talking points on climate change and “systemic racism” have crept into American churches. “Shepherds for Sale” is the #1 bestseller in Christian Church Leadership on Amazon. 
“Shepherds for Sale” hits the shelves as controversy erupts in the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC). Earlier this month, the board of the ERLC, which is the SBC’s lobbying arm, announced it was firing President Brent Leatherwood, who has faced criticism from conservatives within the SBC over his apparent friendly statements about Joe Biden and his advocacy for a red flag law in Tennessee. 
Hours after the announcement, however, the ERLC <a href="https://www.christianitytoday.com/news/2024/july/brent-leatherwood-erlc-president-fired-trustees-biden.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">backtracked</a> and said it was reinstating Leatherwood. Board Chair Kevin Smith, who took responsibility for firing Leatherwood, resigned after Leatherwood was reinstated. Basham said the controversy shows more proof of how the SBC is being influenced by legacy media, but she added that rank-and-file Southern Baptists are waking up to the political influences on their denomination. 
“The New York Times, CNN, the Atlantic, POLITICO, and many other secular media outlets, immediately howled about Leatherwood’s ouster. That tells you they understand how valuable he is to them in his position,” Basham said. “In the end, Leatherwood was reinstated, but there’s no question that this is not over because of the unhappiness of Southern Baptists with his leadership. They may not have media megaphones, but their demands for accountability cannot be held off forever.”
Basham urged evangelical leaders to “get serious about tracing the secular Left influences in any number of evangelical institutions.” 
“When we have leftwing billionaires like atheist George Soros or Buddhist Pierre Omidyar funding evangelical projects, (especially given their direct opposition to biblical ethics on issues like the sanctity of life and gender, sexuality, and marriage), we should ask why,” she said. 
“When church leadership does not know who is behind an organization, they should not agree to sign their public statements or participate in their coalitions. Also, the time for politely ignoring what is going on has come to an end,” Basham added. “It is time to follow the model of J. Gresham Machen in the 1920s and begin to directly call out compromise, capitulation, and infiltration. As he has stated, liberalism is an altogether different religion than Christianity.”

The United States Air Force has continued pushing its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda in violation of federal law, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) claims in a letter exclusively obtained by the Daily Wire.
In a letter to Alex Wagner, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower &amp; Reserve Affairs, Banks contends that the Air Force cloaked its DEI activities in an effort to circumvent provisions in the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which bar the Defense Department from creating any new DEI roles or filling vacancies in existing DEI positions.
“Rather than following the law, it appears that the Air Force has simply rebranded DEI,” Banks, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Military Personnel, wrote in his letter.

The letter comes as the military grapples with the NDAA’s ban on new DEI initiatives. The <a href="https://www.military.com/daily-news/2023/12/07/pentagon-abortion-transgender-policies-safe-diversity-programs-take-hit-compromise-defense-bill.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">funding bill</a> sought to curb the Defense Department’s DEI agenda by capping the pay of those currently in DEI-related positions and prohibiting any new hiring of DEI professionals, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/2739071/final-ndaa-includes-anti-dei-amendments-while-house-transgender-priorities-get-tossed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pending an audit</a> of existing DEI spending by the Government Accountability Office. The bill also barred the Pentagon from filling any existing DEI positions that become vacant.
The DEI ban was a response to the military’s <a href="https://www.heritage.org/defense/heritage-explains/critical-race-theory-the-military" target="_blank" rel="noopener">embrace</a> of critical race theory and the Biden administration’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/06/25/fact-sheet-president-biden-signs-executive-order-advancing-diversity-equity-inclusion-and-accessibility-in-the-federal-government/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">push</a> to establish DEI offices and policies throughout the federal government. The Department of Defense has made DEI a priority under Biden, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-pentagon-slated-to-spend-nearly-270-million-on-diversity-agenda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">requesting a whopping $270 million</a> for DEI from fiscal years 2022 to 2024.
Banks’s letter highlights one Air Force DEI training in particular, a copy of which was obtained by the Daily Wire. The training, “Supporting Systemic Equity,” was administered at Ramstein Air Base and other installations by <a href="https://www.teamtriad.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Team Triad</a>, a consulting firm.
The training aims to“highlight the benefits of diversity and equity” to help Air Force personnel “recognize the importance of empowerment &amp; equity” and “understand what it means to be an ally.”
“Equity is about giving people what they need to make things fair to achieve ‘equality,’” the training materials say.
“This training is an attempt by the Air Force to contravene the clear intent of the law: Prohibited from hiring new DEI positions or filling vacant ones, the Air Force has simply contracted out its DEI training,” Banks said.
“Bureaucrats who think that carrying out the Biden administration’s woke agenda is more important than the law are in for a rude awakening,&#8221; Banks told the Daily Wire.
“Biden DOD officials need to realize that they won’t have a left wing radical Commander in Chief forever,” Banks said. “Congress has prohibited the military from hiring new DEI officials and Republicans will keep using our oversight authority to enforce the laws on the books.”
Team Triad held “Supporting System Equity” trainings at eight Air Force bases last year, and <a href="https://www.teamtriad.co.uk/supporting-systemic-equity-2024/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> it will host 16 training sessions across 10 different bases in 2024.
Banks has requested a copy of the contract between the Air Force and Team Triad.
The Indiana Republican’s letter also addresses an April 2024 Air Force memo, “Standard Core Personnel Documents Directive for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Positions,” which the congressman says violates the most recent NDAA.
“The memo states that to deter adversaries, the Department of the Air Force ‘requires intentionally designing a force that leverages the talents of our diverse Nation’” Banks says.
“An ‘intentional design’ suggests that the Air Force desires the use of quotas and screening requirements for certain races, genders, or sexual orientations during recruiting and retention efforts and that it desires to use Promotion, command selection, and other personnel actions to ensure its preferred mix of races, genders, and sexual orientations,” Banks writes.
The Air Force’s seeming defiance of the NDAA’s DEI ban is the branch’s latest effort to push far-left ideologies. In February, a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/air-force-academy-highlights-transgender-officer-at-leadership-summit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Wire investigation</a> revealed that the Air Force Academy hosted Lt. Colonel Bree Fram, a man who identifies as a woman, for a speech on leadership. Fram is a transgender activist and the president of SPARTA, “a non-profit that advocates and educates about transgender military service.”
Fram also spoke at a pride month event where he called for “intentional inclusivity” in the military, and demanded that leadership “initiate difficult conversations about racial and gender barriers.”

The Daily Wire also revealed that the Air Force celebrated pride month with two days of events in June, including “LGBTQ+ trivia” and a keynote speech from the CEO of an organization that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-air-force-celebrates-pride-month-with-ceo-of-organization-advocating-for-child-gender-transitions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushes transgenderism on children</a>. The group, PFLAG, has sued states that have moved to safeguard minors from irreversible sex change operations.
Banks’s letter poses a number of questions to Wagner regarding the Air Force’s embrace of DEI, requesting responses no later than July 20th.
“Are there currently any quotas or goals for race, gender, sexual orientation, or other protected categories in Air Force recruiting and retention efforts?” Banks asks. “If so, what are they? And how do these quotas and/or goals achieve the service’s required end strength goals and protect U.S. national security?”
The Department of the Air Force did not respond to a request for comment.

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro and British author and political commentator Douglas Murray dissected the rise of the radical Left in the U.S., especially within the Democratic Party on the latest episode of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/our-last-chance-to-save-the-west-douglas-murray-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Ben Shapiro Show Sunday Special</a>.”
Shapiro and Murray first talked about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas and the anti-Israel bias spewed by much of the legacy media, a bias that has been multiplied on college campuses, in the highest echelons of American universities, and even in Congress.
“The idea that you have hundreds of thousands of Westerners marching in solidarity with the murderers, that was on some level more disturbing to me than the actual massacre itself — certainly not in terms of the actual amount of human suffering and the horrifying evil and barbarity of it, but in terms of the threat to the civilization as a whole,” Shapiro said of anti-Israel demonstrations that broke out following Hamas’ attack on Israel where terrorists murdered over 1,000 people.
Murray agreed, adding that the anti-Israel demonstrations on streets across the world were at their core “anti-American” and “anti-Western.”
“Why can you predict with 100% accuracy that the proud Palestinian, not to mention pro-Hamas demonstrators, will never in America carry an American flag? Why do we know with 100% accuracy that when 100,000 mainly Muslim demonstrators go through the streets of London on a Saturday, they will not finish the demonstration by singing God Save the King?” Murray asked. “Why do I know that with 100% accuracy? Because it&#8217;s not about Israel, it&#8217;s about America. It&#8217;s about Britain, it&#8217;s about France.”
“This is a revolutionary movement and it finds its first and most fevered and most flattered version in its attack on Israel,” he added. “But of course, it&#8217;s anti-American; of course, it&#8217;s anti-Western; of course, it&#8217;s anti-British.”

Later in the interview, Shapiro and Murray talked about revolutionaries’ craving for violence throughout history, a craving that Murray warned is evident in today’s radical leftists. Shapiro also noted that radical demonstrators and political leaders have been largely supported by the Democratic Party establishment.
“What&#8217;s more interesting to me is the collapse of the liberal world order in the face of this. The so-called moderates who seem to be willing to traffic along these lines,” Shapiro said. “In the United States, the Democratic Party [is] continuing to massage the shoulders of the members of the Congress who are members of Hamas, or if not members, then at least fellow travelers of terrorists.”
The willingness to pat on the head, the protesters on college campuses by saying, ‘Well, you know, we don&#8217;t want them being bad and, you know, spray painting buildings. But there&#8217;s just so much passion, and we hear what they&#8217;re saying.’ This attempt to sort of massage them into jet fuel for what they believe is more moderate movement. And that&#8217;s the part that that I find particularly disturbing,” he added.
“There seems to be almost a lack of an immune system on the sort of center-Left for this sort of stuff to the point where it&#8217;s pretty obvious, I think, to anybody who&#8217;s observing politics, whether you&#8217;re doing so in Europe or in the United States … the revolutionaries are going to be in control of the movement. I would be shocked if they&#8217;re not,” Shapiro continued.
Murray chimed in, saying the coddling of radical leftists by the Democratic Party is similar to bad parenting.
“I would use an analogy that a lot of people will know from family life. You’re a parent. You observe, as I do, patterns and what good parenting looks like, what bad parenting looks like,” Murray said. “And I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;ve observed, as most people have, a parent who is terrified of their child.”
“People who want to be friends with their children, that&#8217;s a ghastly place to start. But … the parent who&#8217;s scared of the child and therefore creates the world around the child so the child will not be upset. It&#8217;s a surefire way to create an absolute brand of a human being who will probably never grow up,” Murray said. “But I think something like that is happening with the politicians and the generation coming up.”

Over the weekend, Bill Maher, the host of HBO’s “Real Time,” <a href="https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/fzgps/date/2024-05-26/segment/01" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fareed Zakaria of CNN that the ideas of leftists are &#8220;stupid.&#8221;
Maher appeared on CNN to promote his new book, &#8220;What This Comedian Said Will Shock You.”
Zakaria noted that in the book, Maher wrote, “Some people think I&#8217;ve changed. I assure you I have not. I&#8217;m still the same unmarried, childless, pot-smoking libertine I always was. I have many flaws, but you can&#8217;t accuse me of maturing.” He asked what Maher would say to people who say they love him but that he’s become &#8220;cranky&#8221; and &#8220;crotchety,&#8221; that he has become one of those old guys who says &#8220;the kids are crazy.&#8221;
“They&#8217;re wrong, “ Maher responded bluntly. “I mean, they&#8217;re wrong and the kids are crazy. It&#8217;s interesting, they have this idea the younger generation, maybe every generation does, that just because something is new makes it better and that&#8217;s not true. New is not synonymous with better.”
“You&#8217;re just sounding like an old-fashioned conservative,” Zakaria accused.
“I heard a couple of people say, or maybe they wrote it online that, well, I&#8217;m a hypocrite because you were for the demonstrators in 1968 or whatever it was when they were demonstrating against the Vietnam War,” Maher said. “Yes, that was very different. First of all, the students weren&#8217;t against their own. These students were threatening other students. That didn&#8217;t happen in the Vietnam War.  And being against the Vietnam War made sense. It was a war that we probably should not have been in. &#8230; This is demonstrating and protesting for a terrorist group, I mean, Hamas is &#8211;&#8221;
“Well, to be fair, a lot of students &#8212; there were a lot of outside, you know, people have mixed together what students are doing, what outside protesters are doing,” Zakaria interjected. “But let me ask you a broader question, which is, a lot of people will say, look, this is how you get change. You &#8212; it&#8217;s noisy. Some people say the wrong thing. Some people go too far. But the whole tradition of this kind of expansion of rights, it&#8217;s messy, it&#8217;s chaotic.”
“You know, yes, we&#8217;re &#8212; you know, there&#8217;s probably a bunch of excesses as there were probably was in the &#8217;60s,” Zakaria continued. “There was the Black Panthers and the Weathermen and things like that. But they think of you as somebody who was, you know, you were okay with all that, but you&#8217;ve turned.”
“I haven&#8217;t turned,” Maher answered. “Yes, people have said to me, you make fun of the Left more than you used to, and guilty. I have because the Left has changed.”
He segued to attacking the Right and Donald Trump: “Now, the Right has changed also, and even worse. I mean, the right doesn&#8217;t believe in democracy anymore. I mean, they&#8217;ve thrown their lot in with the sociopath named Donald Trump, who only thinks elections count when we win. Okay, well, that&#8217;s worse.”
“But it&#8217;s not like the Left hasn&#8217;t changed also,” he admitted. “So I&#8217;m going to call it out wherever I see it. I mean, there are things that have to do with, you know, gender and race and free speech, and just ideas about, you know, you can be healthy at any weight and gender is always a social construct and maybe we should give communism another try and maybe we should get rid of capitalism and the Border Patrol. And let&#8217;s tear down statues of Lincoln and get rid of the police. Just, you know, know, no. It&#8217;s not that I&#8217;ve gotten old, it&#8217;s that your ideas are stupid.”

Maher spoke of former President Ronald Reagan: “Famously, he used to have a drink at the end of the day, often, with Tip O&#8217;Neill, who is the leader in the House and a Democrat. But they were just two Irish pals who get together and have a scotch at the end of the day. And they knew they weren&#8217;t going to get along on many issues, but they didn&#8217;t hate each other. They could drink together. That is inconceivable today. Can you imagine Joe Biden having a drink with Mike Johnson? It just would never happen. When you hate people, you don&#8217;t listen to them. So, it doesn&#8217;t matter how reasonable they might be.”
“We have reached this place where each side thinks the other side is an existential threat. You hear that term from both sides all the time. That is just a terrible place to be. Because we find ourselves in this situation where both sides are literally siding with enemies of America rather than the opposition party within the country.”
