Thousands of pagers used by Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon exploded simultaneously in their hands and pockets on Tuesday without warning.
Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad said more than 2,700 people were injured — 200+ of whom are in critical condition — and at least eight people were killed.
The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/hundreds-of-hezbollah-operatives-pagers-explode-in-apparent-attack-across-lebanon-cf31cad4">reported</a> that the Iranian-backed terrorist group received the pagers in a new shipment in recent days.
While it was not immediately clear what caused them to explode, it is believed that they were infected with malware that intentionally caused them to overheat and detonate, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Numerous videos posted online showed the moment that the pagers exploded in the terrorists&#8217; hands and in their pockets.

The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/09/17/world/israel-hamas-war-news">reported</a> that pagers also exploded in Syria, where Hezbollah has a presence, according to a news agency affiliated with Iran&#8217;s IRGC, a designated terrorist group. The report claimed that seven people were killed in the blasts.
The incident comes as the terrorist group has fired thousands of rockets, missiles, and suicide drones at Israel over the last year following Hamas&#8217; unprecedented terrorist attack, where they killed 1,200 people inside Israel on October 7.
Israel&#8217;s intelligence services <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/shin-bet-says-it-foiled-hezbollah-attempt-to-kill-former-top-israeli-security-official/">announced</a> on Tuesday that they had foiled a plan by Hezbollah to assassinate a former senior Israeli security official using a remotely detonated explosive device that was supposed to occur in the next few days.

Israel is currently bracing for revenge attacks from Iran and Hezbollah after the Jewish state carried out high-profile assassinations of terrorist leaders in Iran and Lebanon.
As President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are planning to gather in the Situation Room, Israel reassures its citizens, and Iran ramps up its rhetoric, here’s what you need to know.

How We Got Here
Tensions began escalating when Hezbollah killed 12 Druze children on a soccer field in Israel with a missile last month.
In response, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/netanyahu-takes-credit-for-assassination-of-terrorist-commander-challenging-days-ahead">Israel last week assassinated</a> top Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr, also known as Hajj Mohsin, who also played a central role in the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 U.S. military personnel. The U.S. government had a  $5,000,000 <a href="https://eg.usembassy.gov/rewards-justice-reward-offer-information-hizballah-key-leaders-talal-hamiyah-fuad-shukr/">reward</a> for anyone who provided information on Shukr.
The next day, Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran, where he attended the inauguration of Iran’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian. Iran denies a New York Times report claiming an explosive was planted in Haniyeh’s room two months in advance, and instead <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/iran-claims-israel-did-not-plant-bomb-in-military-facility-where-hamas-leader-ismail-haniyeh-was-killed">is adamant</a> a “short-range projectile” was used. Israel did not take credit for the assassination of Haniyeh, though Israel does not always comment on targeted killings.

Revenge
Both Hezbollah and Iran have vowed to take revenge on Israel after the assassinations. Iran in particular takes issue with Haniyeh being killed on its territory.  
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, took to X after Haniyeh was killed, <a href="https://x.com/khamenei_ir/status/1818569675946491948">saying </a>Israel will face a “severe punishment” and <a href="https://x.com/khamenei_ir/status/1818579774303793293">that it was Iran’s</a> “duty to take revenge.”

Khamenei <a href="https://x.com/Khamenei_m/status/1818899210365792293">posted a video</a> of him meeting with family members of Haniyeh, stating he led a funeral prayer over “martyr” Haniyeh’s body.
It is unclear if Iran and Hezbollah will attack independently or coordinate.

What’s Happened So Far
Hezbollah has fired rockets at Israel since the assassinations, part of the terror group’s near-constant attacks on border areas since Hamas’ Oct. 7 invasion of Israel. These attacks are not thought to be Hezbollah’s promised act of revenge, as they fit an ongoing pattern of trading fire.
Israel <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-can-now-send-location-based-alerts-to-phones-in-case-of-large-scale-attacks/#:~:text=The%20Home%20Front%20Command%20said,alarm%20with%20an%20emergency%20message.">has taken steps</a> to brace for the attack, introducing a new alert system to send geographically-targeted cell phone messages to citizens in case of emergency.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant held a situation assessment with the Israeli Air Force on Monday. There, he reportedly told commanders that “our enemies are carefully considering their every move” because of the IDF’s capabilities and that they will be “prepared for anything — including a swift transition to offense.”
Major General Ori Gordin, the commanding officer of Northern Command on Sunday, said that Israel’s “offensive plans are ready” and that all units are prepared “down to the last soldier.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said yesterday that Israel is in a “multi-front war against Iran’s axis of evil” and that it is “prepared for every scenario — both offensively and defensively.”
Many airlines have canceled flights to Israel, and numerous countries, including the United States, are encouraging their citizens to leave Lebanon immediately. The United States last week <a href="https://x.com/usembassybeirut/status/1818709762332065837/photo/1">raised</a> its travel advisory for Lebanon to “Level 4: Do Not Travel.”
Iran advised incoming aircraft to change their routes due to the dangers of flying to parts of its country in a Notice to Air Missions on Monday.
The United States ramped up its military presence in the region to keep its “ironclad commitment to the defense of Israel,” Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh <a href="https://www.defense.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/3860557/deputy-pentagon-press-secretary-sabrina-singh-statement-on-force-posture-in-the/">said on Friday</a>.
According to Singh, an additional fighter jet squadron has been deployed, along with ballistic missile defense-capable cruisers and destroyers. Measures are also being taken to enhance readiness for deploying land-based ballistic missile defenses.

How Are Other Countries Responding
Biden on Monday had a call with King Abdullah II of Jordan, and will convene his national security team, including Harris, in the Situation Room in the afternoon. Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi made a <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/08/05/iran-hezbollah-attack-israel-monday-blinken">rare trip to Iran</a> Sunday amid concerns the nation will attempt to fire missiles at Israel through Jordan’s airspace.
In April, Saudi Arabia and Jordan are believed to have <a href="https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/israel-iran-saudi-arabia-jordan-1.7176154">assisted</a> in shooting down Iranian missiles that were fired in response to Israel&#8217;s killing of a top Iranian general. This time it is believed the nations may be less willing to support Israel, as the assassination is linked to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, rather than just Iran, with whom many neighboring Arab nations have tense relations.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken reportedly told his G7 counterparts that the impending attack could begin as early as Monday, <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/08/05/iran-hezbollah-attack-israel-monday-blinken">Axios reported</a>. Several countries, including the United States, France, Britain, Italy, and Egypt, have been working behind the scenes to minimize regional escalation, according to The Times of Israel.

The Biden-Harris administration is seeking to severely limit Israel&#8217;s retaliatory response toward Hezbollah after the Iranian-backed Islamic terrorist group killed 12 children on Saturday in northern Israel.
The children were killed after Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets on Majdal Shams, a small village in the Golan Heights, striking a soccer field and wounding an additional 40 people. Israel has already authorized a retaliatory strike against Hezbollah for the attack.
After the shocking attack, the Biden-Harris administration has sought to retrain Israel because its response could spark an all-out war with Hezbollah, which operates out of southern Lebanon.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the administration does not &#8220;want to see the conflict escalate. We don’t want to see it spread.&#8221;
His remarks come after Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said on Sunday that he wants to see Israel &#8220;de-escalate.&#8221;
The Biden-Harris administration does not want war to erupt between Israel and Hezbollah because the risk that the U.S. gets drawn into the war is high. The administration has already lost a lot of support from Democrat voters over how it has responded to Israel&#8217;s war against Hamas.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said immediately after the attack that it “crossed all red lines, and the response will be in accordance.”
“We are approaching the moment of an all-out war against Hezbollah and Lebanon,” he said.
Hezbollah is illegally occupying a large section of southern Lebanon along the country&#8217;s border with Israel, <a href="https://www.idf.il/en/mini-sites/hezbollah-and-lebanon-an-in-depth-examination-under-hassan-nasrallah-s-leadership/what-is-un-resolution-1701-why-is-it-important/">violating</a> U.N. Resolution 1701.
In a separate statement, Katz called Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah &#8220;a child murderer acting on behalf of Iran to spread terror in the region.&#8221;
He said that it was time to put an end to Hezbollah before &#8220;it&#8217;s too late.&#8221;
Hezbollah has fired thousands of missiles, rockets, and suicide drones into Israel following Hamas&#8217; October 7 attack. For the most part, the projectiles have not overwhelmed Israel&#8217;s air defenses, and Israel has responded with strikes against key Hezbollah commanders.
However, the attack on Saturday was the deadliest attack that Israel has faced since October 7, thus increasing the scale of the response that Israel is likely to launch.
Hundreds of thousands of Israelis have also been displaced from their homes in northern Israel for over nine months due to the threat posed by Hezbollah.

A Wednesday morning attack on the U.S. Embassy in Beirut was foiled by Lebanese soldiers who shot and captured one gunman — a Syrian national who appeared to be an Islamic jihadist. One embassy security guard was reportedly injured in the attack.
The Lebanese military released a statement saying its forces shot one assailant and released photos of the bloodied alleged attacker that showed him wearing a black vest with the words &#8220;Islamic State&#8221; written in Arabic and letters &#8220;IS&#8221; written in English, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/lebanon-us-embassy-attack-mideast-gaza-war-437056f046228d5ef6004ca46adb68c0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Lebanon is directly north of Israel and is the home of the Islamic terror group Hezbollah, which launched an <a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/israel-and-hezbollah-move-closer-to-full-scale-war-988b3bfc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attack</a> on Israel one day after Hamas&#8217; October 7 terror attack that killed more than 1,200 people, including Americans.
&#8220;At 8:34 a.m. local time, small arms fire was reported in the vicinity of the entrance to the U.S. Embassy. An embassy spokesman said information about the injured security guard could not be released at this time &#8220;with respect to his privacy,&#8221; adding, &#8220;we wish him a full recovery.&#8221;
Last September, a man was detained by Lebanese forces after he similarly opened fire on the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. No one was injured in that attack, according to the AP. A month later, after Hamas launched its attack on Israel, hundreds of Lebanese demonstrators supporting Hamas clashed with police near the U.S. Embassy.
Since Hamas&#8217; October 7 attack and Hezbollah&#8217;s attacks in the days and weeks following, Israel has carried out strikes inside of Lebanon taking out top Hamas and Hezbollah leaders and military facilities. Lebanon is home to many people who hold anti-American and anti-Israel sentiments.

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut has been subjected to attacks for decades. In 1983, a Hezbollah <a href="https://www.defense.gov/News/News-Stories/Article/Article/3566652/us-remembers-service-members-killed-in-beirut-bombings-40-years-ago/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bombing</a> on a U.S. barracks killed 241 U.S. service members and 58 French military and civilian personnel. Another attack in 1983 targeted the U.S. embassy, killing 63 people, including 17 Americans. The violence forced the U.S. to move its embassy from central Beirut to the suburb of Aukar, which was hit with another bombing attack just a year later that killed 23 people, including two American soldiers.

The Israel Defense Forces destroyed what it said were two large weapon depots belonging to the Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorist organization inside Lebanon.
The strikes reportedly occurred near the coastal city of Sidon, which is roughly thirty miles north of the Israel-Lebanon border.
&#8220;IDF fighter jets struck two Hezbollah weapons storage facilities adjacent to the city of Sidon in Lebanon,&#8221; the IDF said in a statement. &#8220;The strike was carried out in response to the launch of a UAV toward the Lower Galilee in northern Israel.&#8221;
&#8220;An examination of the incident suggests that the UAV was most likely launched from Lebanon by the Hezbollah terrorist organization earlier today,&#8221; the statement continued. &#8220;The incident is under review. Hezbollah is considered to be the most powerful and well armed terrorist group in the world thanks to receiving roughly $1 billion a year from Iran.
The group has 20,000 to 25,000 full-time fighters with tens of thousands more in reserves, according to the <a href="https://www.idf.il/en/mini-sites/hezbollah-and-lebanon-an-in-depth-examination-under-hassan-nasrallah-s-leadership/">IDF</a>.

An alleged Israeli airstrike on Tuesday killed a top Hezbollah commander who was responsible for launching suicide drone attacks on Israel, including an attack earlier in the day.
The Times of Israel <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/hezbollah-drone-hits-idf-base-in-safed-israel-said-to-kill-3-terrorists-in-lebanon/">reported</a> that Ali Hussein Barji was the commander of Hezbollah’s aerial forces and was &#8220;responsible for the launching of explosive-laden unmanned aircraft at northern Israel and flying surveillance drones to collect intelligence.&#8221;
The Iranian-backed Islamic terrorist group launched multiple suicide drones in an attack on an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) base in northern Israel on Tuesday morning in response to the IDF neutralizing top Hezbollah and Hamas terrorists in recent days.
&#8220;Hezbollah acknowledges the deaths of four members so far today, including drone commander Ali Hussein Burji,&#8221; said Joe Truzman, research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD). &#8220;It&#8217;s becoming clear in the last days that Israel has an intelligence advantage over Hezbollah as commanders are being eliminated in strikes. Al-Tawil, the top commander of Hezbollah&#8217;s elite Radwan force, was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-hezbollah-official-killed-in-airstrike">killed</a> when a missile blew up an SUV he was riding in. The Radwan force exists with the goal of being able to infiltrate and overrun Israel’s northern border.

Video of the aftermath showed the vehicle was destroyed by the airstrike, which occurred just a few miles away from the Israeli border. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that it had conducted “a series of strikes” in the area against Hezbollah targets but did not comment specifically on the strike that hit Tawil.
The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/08/world/middleeast/israel-lebanon-hezbollah-commander.html">noted</a> that Tawil’s death was a significant blow to Hezbollah as Al Manar, a Hezbollah-owned Lebanese broadcaster, and media controlled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) showed images of Tawil alongside Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian general and terrorist mastermind Qasem Soleimani.
“Hezbollah is dragging Lebanon into a totally unnecessary war,” said Eylon Levy, an Israeli government spokesman. “We are now at a fork in the road. Either Hezbollah backs off, hopefully as part of a diplomatic solution, or we will push it away.”

Israel is considering launching a major military operation against Hezbollah after months of harassment and threats from the terror group, alarming some U.S. officials.
Hezbollah has threatened Israel on its northern border from Lebanon for months since Hamas terrorists invaded Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7, murdering roughly 1,200 people and taking hostage hundreds more. Warnings from Israel that it intends to put a stop to Hezbollah’s threats have alarmed the Biden administration, which fears a growing Middle East conflict, according to The Washington Post.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has warned in recent days that Israel’s patience for Hezbollah is wearing thin and that a major military operation may be launched soon. Since Hamas’ October 7 invasion, Israel has <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/20/middleeast/israel-lebanon-hezbollah-tiberias-evacuation-intl/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">evacuated</a> tens of thousands of Israelis from its northern border with Lebanon over the threat posed by Hezbollah.
“The priority isn’t to get into a war” with Hezbollah, Gallant told <a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/israels-yoav-gallant-we-are-fighting-an-axis-not-a-single-enemy-2408ef96" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Wall Street Journal</a> in an interview published Monday. “Eighty-thousand people need to be able to go back to their homes safely.”
“We are willing to sacrifice,” he continued. “They see what is happening in Gaza. They know we can copy-paste to Beirut,” the capital of Lebanon.
The Biden administration is reportedly warning Israel against taking significant action against Hezbollah, warning that a U.S. intelligence assessment found that if Israel were to expand its military operations to Lebanon as well as Gaza, success would be difficult for Israel to achieve.
Biden administration officials believe Israel’s signals against Hezbollah may be a result of political pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu may push military action against Hezbollah in order to recover politically from the fallout over a failure to prevent the invasion of October 7, according to Biden administration concerns shared with the Post.

Gallant has characterized October 7 as a turning point in Israeli national security and military policy.
“October 7 was the bloodiest day for Jewish people since 1945,” Gallant told WSJ. “The world needs to understand. This is different.”
According to the Israeli defense minister, Israel is facing more than Hamas. Israel is facing a network of militant terror groups backed by Iran, and the fight to secure Israel’s borders from terrorists may be much larger than Gaza and go on much longer than many expect.
“My basic view: We are fighting an axis, not a single enemy,” Gallant said. “Iran is building up military power around Israel in order to use it.”

Former Admiral <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/john-kirby" target="_blank" rel="noopener">John Kirby</a> fired back on Thursday when a reporter for Al Jazeera asserted that the United States was to blame for escalating conflict in the Red Sea with Iran-backed proxies in the area.
Correspondent Kimberly Halkett raised the question, first asking whether the U.S. was escalating tensions by supporting Israel pursuing Hamas leadership outside Gaza — and then arguing that by firing back on Houthi vessels, the United States was escalating tensions with Iran. Kirby, currently serving as director of strategic communications for the National Security Council, objected.

I mean, the fact that it’s going into Lebanon, a sovereign nation.&#8221;
&#8220;Again, your question is presuming an awful lot and is presuming that I said things I didn’t say. I’m not …&#8221; Kirby began, but Halkett interrupted.
&#8220;I have it right here,&#8221; she said.
&#8220;I’m not confirming that the — that the Israelis took this airstrike. I would refer you to them to speak to their military operations,&#8221; Kirby said.
&#8220;They haven’t denied it,&#8221; Halkett pushed back.
Kirby protested again, saying that he still was not prepared to speak for Israel with regard to whether or not they were responsible for a particular military action.
&#8220;They have a right and a responsibility to go after Hamas leadership, and we expect that they’ll do that in accordance with international law,&#8221; he said.
He went on to reiterate his initial statement, saying that the United States&#8217; position in the region was purely a defensive one and was not designed to escalate things in any way.
&#8220;So, let me follow-up on that then. Given the Red Sea patrols, we knew in advance of those being set up that the Iranian defense minister said very clearly, &#8216;Nobody can make a move in a region where we have predominance.&#8217; The United States knew that, set it up anyway. Is that not being seen as a provocation? If you know that Iran sees that as a provocation, you take the action anyway,&#8221; Halkett said.
&#8220;Wow. Well, that’s certainly turning things on their — upside down, isn’t it? Wouldn’t — wouldn’t you consider a provocation the launching of ballistic missiles and drones at commercial —&#8221; Kirby pushed back.
&#8220;Well, the United States —&#8221; Halkett interrupted.
&#8220;Wait, wait, wait. Let me —&#8221; Kirby tried again.
&#8220;— doesn’t have soil there,&#8221; Halkett completed her thought.
&#8220;Let me finish. Wouldn’t that be considered a provocation, taking — targeting innocent merchant shipping and innocent merchant sailors? That’s a provocation,&#8221; Kirby insisted, saying again that the United States was engaging in a purely defensive posture in the region.
&#8220;But it’s led to an escalation, because, in turn, what has happened is —&#8221; Halkett argued.

&#8220;The Houthis did that. And who are the Houthis backed by? Iran. As I’ve said before, Iran provided the missiles that the Houthis are using,&#8221; Kirby said again. &#8220;We are simply in a defensive posture to try to protect that commercial shipping, and we have in the last 48 hours.&#8221;
&#8220;And since then, there’s been an escalation. Now, Iran has launched a frigate into that. So, there has been escalation,&#8221; Halkett tried again.
&#8220;Okay, again, let me stop you. The fact that they —&#8221; Kirby replied.

Senior <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hamas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hamas</a> leader Saleh Arouri was killed by a strike in Beirut on Tuesday, an attack that Lebanese officials pinned on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/israel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Israel</a>.
Lebanese state media claimed several people perished in the blast carried out by an Israeli drone, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/lebanon-beirut-explosion-suburbs-hezbollah-israel-2a43fe948e8cb49c64b34bb963d77f64" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Associated Press reported</a>. Officials with Hamas and Hezbollah said Arouri was among the dead.
Israel had not taken responsibility for the strike as of press time, but the blast does come as Israeli forces continue to fight Hamas in the Gaza Strip nearly three months after the group&#8217;s terrorist attacks on Israeli soil that killed about 1,200 people and led to hundreds more being taken hostage.
&#8220;Whoever did it, it must be clear: That this was not an attack on the Lebanese state,&#8221; Mark Regev, an adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told MSNBC, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/explosion-southern-beirut-suburb-dahiyeh-two-security-sources-2024-01-02/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to Reuters</a>. He added, &#8220;Whoever did this did a surgical strike against the Hamas leadership.&#8221;
Arouri was reportedly second in command of Hamas and served as commander of the group in the West Bank. He founded the Hamas military arm known as the Qassam Brigades, which has <a href="https://www.npr.org/2023/10/12/1204881032/hamas-israel-attack-palestinians" target="_blank" rel="noopener">carried out attacks</a> against Israel for decades.
The State Department said Arouri was &#8220;linked to several terrorist attacks, hijackings, and kidnappings&#8221; and had <a href="https://2017-2021.state.gov/rewards-for-justice-reward-offer-for-information-on-hamas-and-hizballah-key-leaders/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offered</a> a <a href="https://rewardsforjustice.net/rewards/salih-al-aruri/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reward of up to $5 million</a> for information on his whereabouts.

&#8220;Why it matters: Arouri is the most senior Hamas leader that was killed since the October 7 attack,&#8221; Barak Ravid, an Israeli journalist who works for Axios and CNN, said in a <a href="https://twitter.com/BarakRavid/status/1742226044759720089" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post to X</a>. &#8220;The assassination which took place in the heart of Beirut very close to Hezbollah’s headquarters could push the Lebanese militia to escalate its attacks against Israel.&#8221;
Ravid <a href="https://twitter.com/BarakRavid/status/1742243470243180916" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added later</a>: &#8220;A senior Israeli official told me Israel is preparing for a significant retaliation by Hezbollah for the Arouri assassination including by launching long range missiles on targets in Israel.&#8221;

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched precision airstrikes against Hezbollah terrorist targets in southern Lebanon over the weekend in response to what appears to be a continued gradual escalation of fighting along Israel&#8217;s northern border.
Israel&#8217;s strikes against Hezbollah thus far have been purely defensive in nature and are only in response to attacks launched by the Iranian-backed terrorist group.
&#8220;Among the targets struck were military infrastructure used by Hezbollah to direct its terrorist activity,&#8221; IDF said in a statement. &#8220;In addition, IDF soldiers struck the terrorist cell that opened fire toward the area of Dovev in which a number of civilians were injured. Furthermore, a short while ago, a terrorist cell launched a number of mortar shells toward northern Israel. The IDF struck the cell, as well as an additional terrorist cell in the area of Yarin in southern Lebanon.&#8221;
IDF continued to hit Hezbollah targets with artillery fire throughout the day in response to numerous mortars that the terror group fired at Israel.

Israel has evacuated tens of thousands of civilians from more than two dozen towns along its northern border in anticipation that Hezbollah could ramp up attacks and open a second front against Israel as it hunts down Hamas terrorists inside Gaza who were responsible for the October 7 massacre.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned Hezbollah over the weekend that it would be making a &#8220;grave mistake&#8221; by escalating attacks against Israel that will drag all of Lebanon into a war.
&#8220;What we are doing in Gaza we know how to do in Beirut,” Gallant said. “Our pilots are sitting in the cockpit, the noses of the planes are pointing north. The U.S. has deployed two aircraft carrier strike groups in the eastern Mediterranean to make Hezbollah think long and hard about the repercussions it faces if it launches an all-out assault against Israel.

Gallant&#8217;s remarks come as many IDF officials have started to believe that war against Hezbollah is inevitable.

Hundreds of thousands of Israelis have been forced from their homes in 28 towns in northern Israel over concerns that Hezbollah could open a new front in Israel&#8217;s war against Islamic terrorism.

Hezbollah is an Iranian-backed terrorist group whose primary goal is the elimination of Israel and the targeting of the United States all over the world as it has operations in Africa, the Americas, and Asia.
The Congressional Research Service <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/multiple-nations-urge-citizens-to-evacuate-lebanon-as-iranian-terrorists-escalate-attacks-on-israel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a>:
<blockquote>Hezbollah operates a global criminal-financial network, with reported hubs in Europe, Africa, and Latin America. A 2022 Europol report stated, “The network of collaborators built by Hezbollah in the EU is suspected of managing the transportation and distribution of illegal drugs into the EU, dealing with firearms trafficking and running professional money laundering operations.” Other 2022 reports highlight Hezbollah’s role in the trafficking of amphetamine-type stimulants, marketed as “captagon,” along the Syria- Lebanon border.</blockquote>
Hezbollah has approximately 20,000 soldiers and up to <a href="https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/IF/IF10703" target="_blank" rel="noopener">150,000 rockets</a> in its arsenal that could easily dwarf the 6,000+ rockets that Hamas fired at Israel last month.
