The Justice Department said that evidence reviewed by the FBI showed that a purported letter from the late Jeffrey Epstein to convicted child molester Larry Nassar was &#8220;clearly fake.&#8221; 
The 2019 letter, which was released on Tuesday as part of the latest Epstein <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/doj-drops-30000-more-epstein-docs-that-include-accusations-against-trump?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=DOJ+Drops+30%2C000+More+Epstein+Docs+That+Include+Accusations+Against+Trump">document drop</a>, included comments about Epstein taking the “short road home” and &#8220;our president&#8221; liking young girls. After the letter went viral, the Justice Department said the FBI would investigate its authenticity before later announcing it was not genuine. 
The FBI determined the letter to be fake, citing several inconsistencies: the handwriting did not appear to match Epstein’s; it was postmarked in Virginia three days after Epstein was found dead in a New York jail cell; and it lacked required information for outgoing federal jail mail. The letter did not include Epstein’s inmate number or housing unit, as is standard.
“There has been lots of sensationalism and even outright lies these past few days about the ‘Epstein Files.’ But let’s separate fact from fiction. Document production is just that. We produce documents, and sometimes this can result in releasing fake or false documents because they simply are in our possession because the law requires this,” <a href="https://x.com/DAGToddBlanche/status/2003612982161371186">said</a> Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.

“Case in point: the so-called Epstein Nassar letter is clearly FAKE &#8211; wrong handwriting, wrong return address, and postmarked three days after Epstein died. Fake videos of Epstein in his cell. Photos with no explanation. Sensational tales and lies by random people,” Blanche added. “These are not reality. We will continue to produce every document required by law. Let’s not let internet rumor engines outrun the facts.”
The letter was received at the federal prison where Nassar was being held and then flagged for the FBI. Nassar was convicted of sexually abusing young girls while being a doctor at Michigan State University and the trainer for the United States women’s Olympic gymnastics team.
“As you know by now, I have taken the ‘short route’ home. Good luck! We shared one thing … our love and caring for young ladies and the hope they’d reach their full potential. Our President also shares our love of young, nubile girls,” the letter reads. 
Around 30,000 documents related to Epstein were released by the Justice Department on Tuesday. The document release came after President Donald Trump signed a bill last month that mandated the department to release all the Epstein files. 
Trump has characterized questions about the case as a Democrat “hoax” meant to distract from his administration’s success. There has been no credible evidence that implicates Trump in any of Epstein’s misdeeds.

The man suspected of stabbing convicted child molester Larry Nassar earlier this week said he attacked the former Team USA gymnastics doctor after he made a lewd comment about girls, a source <a href="https://apnews.com/article/larry-nassar-gymnastics-coach-stabbing-4ab34526e30c09194e33ee2bd59eb652" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the Associated Press.
The suspect — who was identified as 49-year-old Shane McMillan — said he was watching the women&#8217;s Wimbledon tennis tournament with Nassar when the child molester said he wanted to see girls play, according to the AP&#8217;s source. McMillan then allegedly attacked Nassar in his cell with a makeshift weapon, stabbing him roughly 10 times in the back and chest before four other inmates reportedly pulled him off of the former doctor. Surveillance cameras did not catch the attack since it happened in Nassar&#8217;s cell and out of the cameras&#8217; view.
Nassar was taken to a hospital after officials at the prison performed life-saving measures on him. The pedophile had a collapsed lung, but he remains in stable condition as of Wednesday.
McMillan was initially sentenced to more than 20 years after pleading guilty to distributing methamphetamine in 2002, but he was then convicted of assaulting a correctional officer in 2006 at a federal penitentiary in Louisiana and attempting to stab another inmate to death at a supermax prison in Colorado in 2011. He is now scheduled to be released in 2046.
Nassar, who treated some of the most well-known figures on the U.S. women’s Olympic gymnastic team, will spend the rest of his life in federal prison after more than 150 women and girls accused him of sexually abusing them over a period of 20 years. The former doctor who worked at Michigan State University <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/24/us/larry-nassar-sentencing/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admitted</a> to using his medical position to molest girls. A total of 156 victims spoke out against Nassar in court, including high-profile athletes such as McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, and Rachael Denhollander, who was the first to come forward detailing Nassar’s crimes in 2016.

The G-Men reportedly knew that Nassar was assaulting athletes at Michigan State University and elsewhere, but failed to open an investigation. It wasn&#8217;t until 2016 that the DOJ moved against Nassar.
The mistakes were so egregious that FBI Director Christopher Wray formally apologized.

Indeed, hardly anybody in support of Ukraine has stated what ultimate success actually looks like. Well, one guy has provided a clear end-game scenario: Sen. 4. Tennessee Youth Soccer Coach Suspected Of Raping Unconscious Minors
A Tenessee youth soccer coach has been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tennessee-youth-soccer-coach-suspected-of-raping-unconscious-minors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrested</a> after police say pictures and “unconscionable videos” were allegedly found on his phone revealing that he drugged and raped unconscious boys.
In late June, 63-year-old Camilo Hurtado Campos, of Franklin, Tennessee, left his phone at a restaurant, prompting a customer to hand it to employees. As employees went through the phone to identify its owner, they discovered the alarming content and contacted the police.  According to authorities, there is video evidence showing that at least ten minors were raped. Two minors have been identified, but police are working to identify the other victims. Detectives said some were in such an unconscious state they likely didn’t even realize what happened. The victims are expected between the ages of nine and 17. Campos would allegedly recruit young boys at playgrounds and schools to join his soccer team before taking advantage of them.
Rapid Reaction: It&#8217;s a dangerous world filled with creeps and the worst kind of perverts imaginable. And yet, for some reason, legacy Media outlets choose to disparage men like Jim Caviezel and Tim Ballard for helping to expose the child sex-trafficking industry in their new movie, &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sound-of-freedom-expected-to-hit-40-million-after-first-weekend" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sound of Freedom</a>.&#8221;
While it&#8217;s unclear if Campos sold or trafficked children, it is clear that he posed a threat to the community and innocent minors, if the allegations are true. These sorts of dangers are around every corner — even in red states and conservative communities.
This author knows Franklin well. It is a generally safe, family-friendly own. In many ways, it feels like it has been frozen in time in the best possible way. Kids still ride freely on bikes. Strangers strike up conversations with each other. It has numerous parades and festivals replete with civic pride.
But simply because it&#8217;s idyllic doesn&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s entirely safe. And despite what <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jim-caviezel-thanks-supporters-for-not-letting-the-media-silence-sound-of-freedom" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Legacy Media insists</a>, sexual threats to children are everywhere. It&#8217;s not paranoia to recognize that.
5. NIH Funding Research On The Effects Of Puberty Blockers
A Daily Wire investigative report has revealed that the National Institutes of Health is funding research on the effects of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormone treatment on youth despite acknowledgment from the grantee that these medical interventions can result in sterility.

It would appear that hospitals also have incentives from our own government to encourage sex rejection and gender-denial procedures.
For example, the NIH is also giving more than $3.2 million to an effort from the Boston Children’s Hospital to produce a “trans health guide” that aims to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republican-senators-blast-nih-for-3-million-grant-to-expand-medical-transitions-for-minors">expand access</a> to sex changes for minors.
It&#8217;s all so perverse and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nih-funds-study-on-puberty-blockers-hormones-on-youth-despite-risk-of-sterilization" target="_blank" rel="noopener">worth the read</a>. Why are our taxes going to this?

But the FBI did not open a formal investigation or inform federal or state authorities in Michigan, where Nassar was employed at Michigan State University, according to the DOJ’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz. Agents in Los Angeles began a sexual tourism investigation against Nassar a year later, but also failed to alert Michigan authorities, Horowitz found. Nassar was finally arrested in late 2016 during an investigation by Michigan State University police.
The DOJ said last year that it would not pursue charges against the agents who botched the case against Nassar while admitting that the case was not &#8220;handled as it should have been.&#8221;

Olympic gold medalist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/simone-biles">Simone Biles</a> and nearly 90 more women are seeking $1 billion from the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fbi">FBI</a> for its failure to stop sports doctor and convicted child molester <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/larry-nassar">Larry Nassar</a> from assaulting them.
The Department of Justice has acknowledged that FBI agents knew as early as 2015 that Larry Nassar was accused of assaulting gymnasts, but they took no action and his assault on girls and young women he treated for the USA Gymnastics Team continued for more than a year. The approximately 90 claimants include Biles and fellow Olympic gold medalists Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney, according to Manly, Stewart &amp; Finaldi, a California law firm.
“It is time for the FBI to be held accountable,” said Maggie Nichols, a national champion gymnast at Oklahoma in 2017-19.

Announcement of the tort claim comes just two weeks after the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ex-fbi-agents-who-dropped-ball-in-usa-gymnastics-molestation-case-wont-be-charged-doj-says">DOJ announced it would not charge two former FBI agents</a> who were found by the department&#8217;s inspector general to have lied about their work on the case. Nassar, the now-58-year-old doctor from Michigan State University who is in prison for life for possession of child pornography and molesting at least 10 underage girls. Prosecutors suspect he sexually assaulted hundreds of girls under the guise of rendering medical treatment.
“If the FBI had simply done its job, Nassar would have been stopped before he ever had the chance to abuse hundreds of girls, including me,” said former University of Michigan gymnast Samantha Roy.

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco ordered a review of the agents involved after several gymnasts gave tearful testimony to the House Judiciary Committee last September, but later decided that neither W. Jay Abbott, who has retired nor Michael Langeman, who was fired last year, would be charged.
“I blame Larry Nassar, and I also blame an entire system that enabled and perpetrated his abuse,” Biles told lawmakers.

Following a “careful re-review of evidence,” the department declined to charged the former agents, who are accused of lying about their work on the case. The former agents were being probed in the wake of gripping testimony last year from gymnastics superstar Simone Biles and several of her teammates who were victimized by Nassar even though he had been reported to the FBI.

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco ordered a review after several gymnasts gave tearful testimony to the House Judiciary Committee last September. The described the abuse they suffered under Nassar, the now-58-year-old doctor from Michigan State University who is in prison for life for possession of child pornography and molesting at least 10 underage girls. Prosecutors suspect he sexually assaulted hundreds of girls under the guise of rendering medical treatment.
DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz found that the former FBI agents, a supervisor and his subordinate, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/fbi-nassar-investigation-failures/2021/07/14/ebc37274-e4c4-11eb-8aa5-5662858b696e_story.html?itid=lk_inline_manual_3&amp;itid=lk_inline_manual_8">lied to internal investigators</a> to cover up their failure to investigate credible claims made against Nassar in 2015. That failure allowed Nassar to continue to victimize young girls. One of the agents, W. Jay Abbott, retired and the other, Michael Langeman, was fired last year.
The Justice Department said it will “continue to learn from what occurred in this matter, and undertake efforts to keep victims at the center of our work and to ensure that they are heard, respected, and treated fairly throughout the process, as they deserve,” and said it wanted to work with Congress to address unspecified gaps in the law to “help prevent events like this from taking place in the future and hold perpetrators accountable.”
Simone Biles and three other high-profile gymnasts <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/gymnasts-nassar-fbi-investigation-hearing/2021/09/14/de4832cc-159f-11ec-9589-31ac3173c2e5_story.html?itid=lk_inline_manual_9&amp;itid=lk_inline_manual_14">gave emotional testimony </a>to the Judiciary Committee last year about Nassar’s abuse and the FBI’s failure to act.
“I blame Larry Nassar, and I also blame an entire system that enabled and perpetrated his abuse,” Biles told lawmakers.

Lawyers representing 13 women plan on suing the FBI for $130 million — $10 million for each individual — alleging that a “bungled investigation” by FBI agents led to additional abuse from former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State team doctor Larry Nassar.
&#8220;This was not a case involving fake 20 dollar bills or tax cheats,&#8221; attorney Jamie White <a href="https://www.espn.com/olympics/gymnastics/story/_/id/33778847/thirteen-larry-nassar-victims-seeking-130m-fbi-bungled-investigation">said</a>. &#8220;These were allegations of a serial rapist who was known to the FBI as the Olympic U.S. doctor with unfettered access to young women.&#8221;
According to <a href="https://www.espn.com/olympics/gymnastics/story/_/id/33778847/thirteen-larry-nassar-victims-seeking-130m-fbi-bungled-investigation">ESPN</a>, the women are not suing yet, but the FBI has six months to reply to the tort claim.

The report by the inspector general states that Langeman and Abbott never “officially opened an investigation” and lied to investigators about their actions. The report states that Abbott — who is retired — told the FBI to release false statements in 2017 <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/14/politics/justice-department-investigation-report-nassar/index.html">saying</a> that his office “expeditiously responded” to the allegations against Nassar.
Raisman said that it took over fourteen months for FBI agents to contact her after her report to USAG [USA Gymnastics] in June 2015 that Nassar abused her and that Nassar continued to sexually assault dozens of young women and girls during that time.
“From July 2015, when the allegations were first reported to the FBI, to September 2016, Nassar continued to treat gymnasts at Michigan State University, a high school in Michigan, and a gymnastics club in Michigan,” the report <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/watchdog-report-blasts-fbi-fundamental-errors-gymnastics-sex-abuse-investigation-n1273987">said</a>. “Ultimately the investigations determined that Nassar had engaged in sexual assaults of over 100 victims and possessed thousands of images of child pornography, led to his convictions in federal and state court, and resulted in Nassar being sentenced to incarceration for over 100 years.”
FBI Director Christopher Wray apologized in his September opening statements for the FBI’s failure to stop Nassar.
“I’m deeply and profoundly sorry to each and every one of you,” Wray <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/fbi-director-wray-nassar-monster-gymnasts-biles-maroney-hearing-174019967.html">said</a> in his opening statement. “I’m sorry for what you and your families have been through. I’m sorry so many people let you down over and over again. And I’m especially sorry there were people at the FBI who had their own chance to stop this monster back in 2015 and failed, and that is inexcusable. It never should have happened, and we’re doing everything in our power to make sure it never happens again.”

The victims of former USA Gymnastics team physician Larry Nassar reached one of the largest settlements for sex abuse ever recorded on Monday, according to a report by <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/nassar-victims-reach-380-million-settlement-with-usa-gymnastics-and-u-s-olympic-and-paralympic-committee-11639406377">The Wall Street Journal</a>. 
“USA Gymnastics, U.S. Olympic &amp; Paralympic Committee and their insurers have agreed to fund a $380 million settlement with victims of longtime national team physician Larry Nassar, drawing to a close a five-year legal battle that has upended American Olympic sports governance,” The Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/nassar-victims-reach-380-million-settlement-with-usa-gymnastics-and-u-s-olympic-and-paralympic-committee-11639406377">reported</a>.  
The settlement also includes nonmonetary provisions, “including requirements for self-identified survivors of abuse in gymnastics to have official roles in USA Gymnastics.” 
Olympian Jamie Dantzscher was the first to file a civil lawsuit against USA Gymnastics and the USOPC in September 2016, with more than 500 others filing following Dantzscher&#8217;s lawsuit. 
In May 2018, Michigan State University — which employed Nassar for decades — agreed to settle lawsuits from 332 women against Nassar for $500 million. According to the attorney — reports ESPN —that settlement in addition to Monday’s $380 million settlement makes it the largest in a sexual assault case involving a single perpetrator. 
“Survivors have now received a total of $880 million in compensation for their pain and suffering at the hands of this monster and the institutions who enabled him, Michigan State University, USA Gymnastics, and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee,” <a href="https://www.wilx.com/2021/12/13/nassar-victims-reach-settlement-with-usa-gymnastics/">said</a> John Manly, the lead attorney representing victims, in a press release. “These organizations spent more than $100 million on corporate lawyers to evade their legal and moral responsibility. We prevailed for one simple reason: the courage and tenacity of the survivors. These brave women relived their abuse publicly, in countless media interviews, so that not one more child will be forced to suffer physical, emotional, or sexual abuse in pursuit of their dreams.”

Biles gave an especially emotional testimony, stating that &#8220;the lingering trauma from her abuse at the hands of Nassar played a factor in her decision to opt out of several competitions&#8221; during the Tokyo Olympics, according to <a href="https://apnews.com/article/simone-biles-gymnastics-sexual-abuse-larry-nassar-cb63ffbfd09d9d4ffe21561aa63d3ca5">The Associated Press</a>.
“I sit before you today to raise my voice so that no little girl must endure what I, the athletes at this table, and the countless others who needlessly suffered under Nassar’s guise of medical treatment,” Biles said in her testimony. “Which we continue to endure today. We suffered and continue to suffer because no one at [the] FBI, USAG, or the USOPC [U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee] did what was necessary in order to protect us. We have been failed and we deserve answers. Nassar is where he belongs, but those who enabled him deserve to be held accountable … In reviewing the OIG’s report, it truly feels like the FBI turned a blind eye to us and went out of its way to help protect USAG and USOPC.”

Maroney testified that the FBI made false claims regarding her story of abuse at the hands of Nassar. 
“As most of you are probably aware, I was molested by the U.S. gymnastics national team and Olympic team doctor Larry Nassar,” Maroney said in her testimony. “In actuality, he turned out to be more of a pedophile than he was a doctor … After telling my entire story of abuse to the FBI in the summer of 2015, not only did the FBI not report my abuse, but when they eventually documented my report 17 months later, they made entirely false claims about what I said. After reading the Office of Inspector General&#8217;s OIG report, I was shocked and deeply disappointed at this narrative they chose to fabricate. They chose to lie about what I said and protect a serial child molester rather than protect not only me, but countless others.”

Simone Biles, Olympic Gymnasts Blister FBI Over Handling Of Larry Nassar Case In Explosive Congressional Testimony

The office of the Inspector General (OIG) at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has released a <a href="https://oig.justice.gov/sites/default/files/reports/21-093.pdf">damning report</a> charging that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) covered up its lassitude in pursuing allegations against former USA Gymnastics physician Larry Nassar after he had been accused of sexual abuse of girls on the team.
The OIG reports that FBI headquarters drafted “a white paper (relying on Indianapolis Field Office information) that was intended to summarize the FBI’s handling of the Nassar allegations but omitted information about the FBI’s failure to timely interview the victim gymnasts.”
Nassar worked as an Osteopathic Physician and Associate Professor at Michigan State University’s (MSU) Department of Family and Community Medicine, where for most of that time, he was employed as the USA Gymnastics National Medical Coordinator and a treating physician for gymnasts.
The OIG details how in July 2015, following a USA Gymnastics internal investigation into allegations of sexual assault by Nassar against multiple gymnasts, USA Gymnastics President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen D. Penny, Jr., reported the allegations to the FBI’s Indianapolis Field Office.
Penny told the FBI that three gymnasts, all of whom were minors at the time of the alleged sexual assaults, accused Nassar of sexual assault and that they were available to be interviewed. Nassar retired from his USA Gymnastics position in September 2015 while still working at MSU, Twistars USA Gymnastics Club, and Holt High School.
“Over the next 6 weeks, the Indianapolis Field Office conducted limited follow-up, which involved conducting a telephonic interview on September 2 of one of the three athletes, reviewing the thumb drive provided by Penny, and discussing the allegations with the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) in the Southern District of Indiana and the FBI’s Detroit Field Office,” the OIG reports. “The Indianapolis office did not formally document any of its investigative activity, including its July meeting with USA Gymnastics and its September 2 telephonic interview of one of the victim gymnasts. The office also did not formally open an investigation or assessment of the matter. The only 2015 Indianapolis Field Office documentation located by the OIG consisted of five pages of handwritten notes taken by two of the FBI attendees at the July 2015 meeting with USA Gymnastics, three pages of notes taken by the two agents at the September 2 interview of the one athlete, a handful of email exchanges between Penny and the FBI Indianapolis Field Office, and approximately 45 emails and text messages among agents and prosecutors.”
In September 2015, the Indianapolis Field Office, along with the USAO for the Southern District of Indiana, “concluded that there was no venue in Indianapolis since Indianapolis had no connection to any of the alleged illegal activity. Further, both offices had serious questions as to whether the allegations against Nassar were sufficient to support federal jurisdiction. Yet, the Indianapolis Field Office did not advise state or local authorities about the allegations and did not take any action to mitigate the risk to gymnasts that Nassar continued to treat.”
Although it was recommended that the proper venue for the case was in Michigan, the Indianapolis Field Office failed to properly transfer the investigation, “despite informing USA Gymnastics on September 4 that it had transferred the matter to the FBI’s Detroit Field Office (of which the FBI’s Lansing Resident Agency is a part). “
In the fall of 2015, Indianapolis Field Office Special Agent in Charge (SAC) W. Jay Abbott spoke to Penny about a potential job opportunity with the U.S. Olympic Committee. Penny was worried about how USA Gymnastics was being portrayed in the media and whether Penny might be “in trouble.” They discussed Abbott &#8220;proposing to his colleagues an FBI public statement that would place USA Gymnastics in a positive light. At the same time, Abbott was aware that Penny appeared willing to put in a good word on Abbott’s behalf. Abbott applied for the U.S. Olympic Committee position in 2017 but was not selected. Despite evidence confirming that Abbott had applied for the job, Abbott denied to the OIG during two interviews that he had applied for the position and told the OIG that applying for the job would have presented a conflict of interest.”
In the spring of 2016, USA Gymnastics officials contacted the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, which contacted a Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) in the Indianapolis Field Office (Indianapolis SSA) who stated he had created a formal FBI complaint form (FD-71) in 2015 to transfer the Nassar allegations from the Indianapolis office to the Lansing Resident Agency. No evidence of the FD-71 in the FBI’s computer system was found.
Although the Los Angeles Field Office opened a federal sexual tourism investigation against Nassar and interviewed several of Nassar’s alleged victims, it did not contact state or local authorities, the OIG report states.
“In August 2016, the Michigan State University Police Department (MSUPD) received a separate complaint from a gymnast who stated that she was sexually assaulted by Nassar when she was 16 years old,” the OIG states. “Two weeks later, The Indianapolis Star ran a news story describing sexual assault allegations against Nassar by former gymnasts. The MSUPD then received similar sexual abuse complaints against Nassar from dozens of additional young females, and, on September 20, 2016, the MSUPD executed a search warrant at Nassar’s residence and discovered child pornography.”
As a result of the news stories and MSUPD investigative activity, the FBI’s Lansing Resident Agency first learned of the Nassar allegations and opened its Nassar investigation on October 5, 2016 (neither the FBI’s Indianapolis Field Office nor the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office had previously informed the Lansing Resident Agency of the Nassar allegations).
In February 2018, at Nassar&#8217;s sentencing where victims were allowed to speak, Randall Margraves, whose three daughters were allegedly sexually assaulted by Nassar, stood facing Nassar in the Michigan courtroom. Margraves, whose daughters Lauren and Madison Rae had just finished speaking, plaintively asked the judge if he could have five minutes alone with the “demon” in a locked room. Assistant Attorney General Angela Povilaitis, the lead prosecutor, stated, &#8220;You cannot behave like that. No one can behave like this. I want to make sure it’s crystal clear.&#8221;

A former USA Gymnastics coach who worked with convicted rapist Dr. Larry Nassar killed himself Thursday, the same day he was hit with 24 charges, including human trafficking and sexual assault.
&#8220;Former U.S. Olympic gymnastics coach John Geddert, who led the women’s team to a gold medal in the 2012 Olympics, committed suicide Thursday after he was charged with sexual assault and human trafficking in relation to acts that occurred at a Michigan gym he owned and ran for decades,&#8221; <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/02/25/john-geddert-gymnastics-human-trafficking/">The Washington Post</a> reported Thursday.
Geddert stood accused of “abuse and forced labor, intimidating them, threatening them and sexually abusing at least one victim by digitally penetrating her when she was between the ages of 13 and 16,” <a href="https://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/ny-john-geddert-former-us-olympics-gymnastics-coach-arrested-20210225-u55ha5jflvf43dshqbu32spmsi-story.html">The New York Daily News</a> reports.
Geddert and Nassar, the team’s doctor, worked together for roughly 20 years. In 2018, Nassar <a href="http://hollywoodlife.com/2018/01/24/larry-nassar-sentenced-prison-175-years-sexual-assault-jail/">was sentenced</a> to a minimum of 40 years and maximum of 175 years in prison for sexually assaulting scores of young girls, including members of the USA Olympic Gymnastic team Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Simone Biles and others.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-father-3-abused-gymnasts-asks-1-minute-alone-hank-berrien/">At the sentencing</a>, Randall Margraves, whose three daughters were allegedly sexually assaulted by Nassar, stood facing Nassar in the Michigan courtroom. Margraves, whose daughters Lauren and Madison Rae had just finished speaking, plaintively asked the judge if he could have five minutes alone with the “demon” in a locked room. When the judge refused, saying, “You know I can’t do that,” Margraves hurled himself toward Nassar, prompting security officers to restrain him as Margraves cried out, “Let me at that son-of-a-b****!”
Prior to his death, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office issued a <a href="https://www.michigan.gov/ag/0,4534,7-359-92297_99936-552927--,00.html">statement</a> vis-à-vis Geddert on Thursday saying:
<blockquote>Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office has filed 24 criminal charges against John Geddert … Geddert, 63, of Grand Ledge, was expected to turn himself in to authorities today at the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office Substation in Delta Township and was scheduled to be arraigned at 2:15 p.m. today in Eaton County District Court 56A before Judge Julie O’Neill. Charges filed against Geddert include: </blockquote>
<ul>
<li>14 counts of human trafficking, forced labor causing injury, a 15-year felony; </li>
<li>Six counts of human trafficking of a minor for forced labor, a 20-year felony; </li>
<li>One count of continuing criminal enterprise, a 20-year felony; </li>
<li>One count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, a life offense felony; </li>
<li>One count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, a 15-year felony; and</li>
<li>One count of lying to a peace officer during a violent crime investigation, a four-year felony </li>
</ul>
The Attorney General’s office stated:
<blockquote>The Attorney General’s office alleges that Geddert’s treatment of young gymnasts constitutes human trafficking as he reportedly subjected his athletes to forced labor or services under extreme conditions that contributed to them suffering injuries and harm. Geddert then neglected those injuries that were reported to him by the victims and used coercion, intimidation, threats and physical force to get them to perform to the standard he expected. 
Geddert sold his reputation as an Olympic-level coach and promised to unsuspecting parents that he could turn his students into world-class athletes, allowing them to secure college scholarships, the Attorney General’s office alleges. Under the guise of coaching, he reportedly subjected multiple young women to an environment of continued abuse, in which he also neglected advice of medical doctors – except that provided by Larry Nassar, who served for around 20 years as Geddert’s team physician and in-house medical expert at Twistars.</blockquote>
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel told reporters, “The victims suffer from disordered eating, including bulimia and anorexia, suicide attempts and attempts at self harm, excessive physical conditioning, repeatedly being forced to perform even when injured, extreme emotional abuse and physical abuse, including sexual assault.”
After the report of Geddert&#8217;s death, Nessel commented, “This is a tragic end to a tragic story for everyone involved.&#8221;

USA Gymnastics Coach Linked To Larry Nassar Commits Suicide After Being Charged For Sex Trafficking

USA Gymnastics &#8212; the organization that oversees the U.S. Olympic gymnastics program as well as dozens of other gymnastics training programs nationwide &#8212; has declared bankruptcy and is in the process of &#8220;reorganization&#8221; following years of allegations that the group ignored, and in some cases covered up, of widespread sex abuse.
<a href="http://www.espn.com/olympics/story/_/id/25461239/usa-gymnastics-files-chapter-11-bankruptcy-petition">ESPN reports that the group</a> filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday.
&#8220;The national governing body for gymnastics said it hopes this latest move will allow for an expedited process in handling dozens of civil lawsuits related to the sexual abuse perpetrated by [Larry] Nassar, the former national medical coordinator who was convicted of assaulting patients under the guise of medical treatment,&#8221; ESPN says.
The bankruptcy filing stops about a dozen lawsuits in their tracks, ESPN reports, cutting off depositions of USA Gymnastics officials and ending a discovery process that could have turned up evidence that USA Gymnastics knew about and ignored claims against Nassar.
It&#8217;s not clear, however, that the group had enough money to settle those lawsuits, anyway.
&#8220;In an initial filing Wednesday night, USA Gymnastics estimated that its primary assets of cash and cash equivalents are worth $6.5 million,&#8221; far less than what would be needed to cover payouts to the dozens of women Nassar is said to have abused over a decades-long career with the gymnastics organization. A recent settlement between Nassar&#8217;s victims and Michigan State University, where Nassar worked for years as a gymnastics team doctor and medical professional, cost the school more than $500 million.
Nassar&#8217;s victims and their attorneys aren&#8217;t surprised, either.
&#8220;The leadership of USA Gymnastics has proven itself to be both morally and financially bankrupt,&#8221; one of the lead attorneys suing USA Gymnastics told media. &#8220;They have inflicted and continue to inflict unimaginable pain on survivors and their families. They are incapable of meeting their obligations as an Olympic governing body.&#8221;
Nassar is believed to have abused hundreds of gymnasts across his career with both Michigan State and USA Gymnastics, including some of the biggest names in the sport. In the context of &#8220;treating&#8221; girls for gymnastics-related injuries, Nassar frequently touched his patients inappropriately, molesting them and, in some cases, penetrating them with his fingers. The girls were told that treatments were &#8220;typical.&#8221; Complaints &#8212; even general questions about Nassar&#8217;s fitness &#8212; they say, went ignored.
USA Gymnastics has struggled with controversy for years, even before Nassar&#8217;s behavior came to light last year. The organization has routinely been accused of turning a blind eye to abusive training and coaching techniques, physical abuse, and even athlete starvation.
Since the claims against Nassar surfaced, the organization has had three different leaders, each pressured, in turn, to resign, after star athletes accused them of being complicit in USA Gymnastic&#8217;s cover up of Nassar&#8217;s abuse. In November, the International Olympic Committee announced it had started the process of stripping USA Gymnastics of its role overseeing the American Olympic program for gymnastics.
