Conservative talk radio host and 2024 presidential candidate Larry Elder announced he was suspending his campaign Thursday evening, saying it’s time for Republicans to “unite behind Donald Trump.” 
Elder launched his presidential campaign in April, but low fundraising hauls and near-zero numbers in the polls made his 2024 bid one of the biggest longshots in the crowded GOP field. The conservative commentator, who ran against California Governor Gavin Newsom in a failed 2021 recall effort, said he is “proud” to endorse former President Trump, praising his conservative leadership. 
&#8220;Now that I am exiting the race, I am proud to announce my endorsement of Donald Trump for President of the United States. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing conservative, America-first principles and policies that have benefited our great nation,&#8221; Elder said in a statement. &#8220;We must unite behind Donald Trump to beat Joe Biden and fight back against Biden’s unprecedented election interference and the left’s destruction of America.”

After suspending his campaign, Elder <a href="https://twitter.com/larryelder/status/1717665800142688704">said</a> he met with the former president to personally give him his endorsement. 
Elder launched his presidential bid to address “the biggest issues” facing the U.S., which he defined as “the crisis of fatherlessness, the dangerous lie that America is systemically racist, the need for an amendment to the constitution to set federal spending to a fixed percentage of the GDP — otherwise government gets bigger whether Republicans or Democrats are in charge, and the need to remove the Soros-backed DAs across the country who refuse to enforce the law.&#8221; 
The conservative radio host previously <a href="https://twitter.com/larryelder/status/1693958883872539019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">criticized</a> Republican Party rules that kept him off the debate stage, saying they were &#8220;rigged&#8221; and threatened to sue the RNC to &#8220;halt&#8221; the first debate in August. Elder argued that GOP leaders were &#8220;afraid of having [his] voice on the debate stage.&#8221;
Elder is the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/larry-elder-drops-out-presidential-race-a3d3665cd50d1e0d2071ab8800075482">fourth</a> long-shot Republican candidate to drop out of the 2024 presidential race. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and former Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX) were the first to drop out, and Michigan businessman Perry Johnson exited the race last week before he too endorsed Trump. Hurd endorsed former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who is jostling with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for second place behind Trump in the polls. 
The Californian added that while he is dropping out of the presidential race, he remains committed to fighting for conservative values.

Conservative talk show host Larry Elder announced Thursday night that he is launching a bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
Elder, who turns 71 years old next week, announced his bid during an appearance on Fox News&#8217; &#8220;Tucker Carlson Tonight&#8221; with host Tucker Carlson.
Elder said that he is pro-life, doesn&#8217;t believe America is racist, wants secure borders, wants the U.S. to be energy independent, and wants to fix urban schools.
&#8220;I&#8217;m announcing that I&#8217;m running for the presidency of the United States on your program,&#8221; Elder said. &#8220;And thank you so much for giving me this honor and this platform.&#8221;
Elder ran to replace Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom, who faced a recall election in 2021 for a variety of reasons, including his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, which many considered disastrous. Elder came in first among dozens of replacement candidates, receiving over 3.5 million votes. However, Newsom <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-10-22/california-recall-election-official-results-gavin-newsom-prepares-for-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">beat</a> the recall attempt by more than 20 points.
Elder said that the reason he wanted to run for president is because his father, older brother, and little brother all served in the U.S. Armed Forces and he did not.

Elder said that the top issues driving him were fighting the Democrats&#8217; lie that America is racist and addressing how a lot of minority children grow up in fatherless homes because Democrats have &#8220;incentivized women to marry the government.&#8221;

Conservative commentator Larry Elder said there&#8217;s a &#8220;strong possibility&#8221; he would add his name to the list of GOP presidential candidates running in 2024.
During a recent interview on the Fox 11 Los Angeles program &#8220;<a href="https://www.foxla.com/news/larry-elder-says-theres-a-strong-possibility-he-runs-for-president">The Issue Is: with Elex Michaelson</a>,&#8221; Elder revealed he&#8217;s &#8220;thinking about&#8221; announcing a bid for the nation&#8217;s executive office to address issues like the economy, energy independence, and managing the crisis at the southern border.
&#8220;There are two things that I think I bring to the table,&#8221; Elder said. &#8220;One of them is this reputation that America is systemically racist. And the second is the importance of family.&#8221;
Elder has long addressed the absence of fathers impacting black American families nationwide. He became a conservative radio icon known as the &#8220;Sage of South Central&#8221; by speaking his mind about such topics — and steering the national conversation toward those matters.
According to Elder, 70% of black children grow up without a father, while 40% of all children in America experience fatherlessness in the home.
The National Fatherhood Initiative <a href="https://www.fatherhood.org/father-absence-statistic">reported</a> U.S. Census Bureau statistics showing 18.4 million children — or 1 in 4 kids — grow up without a biological, step, or adoptive father in the home.
&#8220;It is the number one issue facing America,&#8221; he said.
Elder <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-elder-statesman-conservative-icon-mulling-2024-presidential-run">told</a> The Daily Wire earlier this year that the breakdown of the nuclear family could be traced back to the creation of the welfare state, which he claimed &#8220;has incentivized women to marry the government . . . and men to abandon their financial and more responsibility.&#8221;
&#8220;And we don&#8217;t talk about that enough and talk about some of the symptoms, whether it&#8217;s crime, whether it&#8217;s support outcomes in school, we don&#8217;t talk about the genesis, and the genesis is that in 1955, 25% of black kids entered the world without a father married to the mother,&#8221; he said.
The conservative radio host has previously spoken this year about running for president.
Earlier this year, Elder met with potential donors from Iowa and New Hampshire pending a possible candidacy.
He told the <a href="https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/politics/2022/09/17/larry-elder-considers-2024-presidential-run-conservative-radio-host-republican-candidates/10416418002/">Des Moines Register</a> last September that he has floated the idea of running for president in 2024 even if former President Donald Trump announced his third bid for office, who has since made his announcement.
&#8220;I&#8217;m running for president,&#8221; Elder said. &#8220;And I&#8217;m not running against anybody on the Republican side — I&#8217;m running against Joe Biden if he runs, or Kamala Harris if she runs.&#8221;
Elder further noted to Fox 11 on Saturday that Trump has a &#8220;smaller and shrinking base.&#8221;
&#8220;A smaller percentage of the public has said they want him to run,&#8221; Elder said. &#8220;A greater percentage has said they want Ron DeSantis to run.&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s not going to be a coronation,&#8221; he added.
Elder previously ran to replace California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in a 2021 recall election, but voters overwhelmingly decided to keep Newsom in place.

“We cannot rely on big companies to stand with middle America when it really matters,” the seasoned radio and talk show host commented. “My co-founders and I, along with some very smart executives in banking and technology, got together to do our own thing.”
The bank, which will be backed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, plans to support first responders and the military, as well as offer no-fee accounts, free overdraft protection, and early direct deposit access. The company also created Old Glory Pay; Elder, a recent gubernatorial candidate in California, said that the payment system means the bank does not rely upon third-party entities to send or receive money, rendering customers truly “cancel proof.”
“If the hard Left shuts down payments and banking for middle America, they win and we lose,” the Sage of South Central added. “As my partner John Rich always says, ‘We have to run for the hills, but first, we have to build it’ … Middle America now has a ‘real’ bank that identifies with their values. Middle America also now has a payment solution that will never cancel them for their lawful activities.”
When asked how many customers have registered for accounts, Elder declined to share specifics, but asserted that interest thus far aligns with the team’s “expectation of the pent-up demand by those who have felt marginalized.”
News of established banking entities and payment platforms violating the principles of free expression have made national headlines. PayPal, which has deplatformed several organizations and commentators for their political views, recently unveiled a change to its acceptable use policy that would have banned the promotion of “misinformation” and drawn $2,500 penalties from account holders deemed to be in violation. Within one day of The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-paypal-policy-lets-company-pull-2500-from-users-accounts-if-they-promote-misinformation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reporting</a> on the change, however, PayPal <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/paypal-reverses-plan-to-fine-users-2500-for-misinformation-after-daily-wire-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reversed</a> the guidelines and insisted that the document had been published “in error.”
Elder remarked that large corporations and other institutions, such as academia, the entertainment industry, and the legacy media, can justify suppressing conservative content and their “ability to freely engage in commerce as an act of patriotism” by labeling those outside of leftist orthodoxy as “semi-fascists” and other pejoratives. “What ‘big’ companies continue to show us is that their loud and woke employees can tip the scales of leadership’s major decisions,” he continued. “We saw this at Disney. We see this at Facebook. We knew this was happening at Twitter, and now Elon has confirmed it. And, we see this is happening at banks and payment processors.”

“It’s been dismaying to see the political weaponization of the financial system,” Rich commented. “Old Glory Bank was created to be the full banking solution for folks who still believe in freedom and the greatness of America.”
Old Glory Bank clients will be permitted to round up to the nearest dollar every time they make a transaction and donate the funds to charity, including Oklahoma nonprofit organization Folds of Honor, which provides academic scholarships for the spouses and children of fallen soldiers. Among other leaders in the venture is William Shine, the former co-president of Fox News and president of Fox Business News, who serves as executive chairman.
The bank, which will be backed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, plans to openly support first responders and the military, as well as offer no-fee accounts, free overdraft protection, and early direct deposit access. Old Glory Bank Senior Regulatory Officer Bennett Brown said that “cutting-edge digital technology” will permit customers from across the nation to access the company’s services.
“Old Glory Bank will serve lower- and middle-income Americans and those Americans that other banks have marginalized and ignored, hard-working patriots who keep this country running every day,” added Carson, who worked as director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University before leading the Department of Housing and Urban Development under the Trump administration.
The venture comes as established financial institutions grow increasingly hostile toward free expression. The man became a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/conservatism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">conservative</a> radio icon and the &#8220;Sage of South Central&#8221; by speaking his mind about the issues that he thought were most important — and steering the national conversation toward those matters.
Now, the former California <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/republican-party" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GOP</a> gubernatorial candidate is mulling a 2024 presidential run precisely because he believes the Republican Party is not accurately talking about topics that truly affect Americans across the board: the breakdown of the family, education, and the myth that the United States is a systemically racist society.
Elder broke down why he is seriously considering a run for office in an interview with The Daily Wire.
California Governor&#8217;s Race
Prior to entering the race, &#8220;a number of people approached me as you know, to encourage me to run for governor of California. And little by little I felt that I had a moral and spiritual and a patriotic obligation to do it,&#8221; he explained in an interview with The Daily Wire.
&#8220;I didn&#8217;t think I would like politics,&#8221; he added. &#8220;I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I was surprised at how good I was at it. And in about seven and a half weeks which is when I got into the race, with only that much time left. I raised around $22 million —  more than all of the major rivals combined.&#8221;
Elder — who has only sought two elected positions in his entire career: California&#8217;s governor&#8217;s office and third-grade class president — explained that after his 2021 defeat, he formed a political action committee to support campaigns and causes around the country focusing on issues he cares about.
Post-2021 Recall Failure
Following the failed recall attempt to oust California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, he took a trip to the Florida Keys and was approached by fans from around the country.
&#8220;I was shocked how many people knew about the race or recognized me. I gained about 10 pounds because it&#8217;s hard for me to resist when somebody picks up a check,&#8221; Elder said with a chuckle.
&#8220;And I was urged by a number of people whether from Texas, or Florida, or Maine, or any of the other states to consider running for higher office,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So I began to think about it. And the more I think about it, the more I think I might very well do that.&#8221;
Elder took his leftover campaign money and jump-started the Elder for America PAC.
Elder Visits Iowa
Most recently, Elder visited the Hawkeye State and met with some serious people in politics.
&#8220;If you&#8217;re going to run for president &#8230; the Iowa State Fair is kind of a rite of passage,&#8221; Elder noted. &#8220;So I went and I was kind of overwhelmingly surprised by the gracious reception. I met with the governor of Iowa. I met with Lieutenant Governor. I met with a number of local politicians and I met with some pretty deep-pocketed donors. Nobody felt that it was an outlandish kind of thing to consider.&#8221;
Indeed, nothing in the Elder&#8217;s 25-minute conversation with The Daily Wire seemed to indicate his potential bid was &#8220;outlandish&#8221; either.
Not once did Elder use the words freedom, equality, or liberty. Many Republicans can&#8217;t explain their stances without using those vague descriptors — high on rhetoric, short on specifics.
Yet, for Elder, he discussed the issues replete with facts, common sense, and passion. He showed how politicians&#8217; failure to solve the various problems are limiting those American principles and making life worse for us all.
The Welfare State And The Family
For example, the breakdown of the nuclear family can be traced back specifically to the invention of the welfare state, he explained. Yet, the solution isn&#8217;t simply talking about it, but encouraging fatherhood responsibility.
&#8220;The welfare state has incentivized women to marry the government and is incentivizing men to abandon their financial and more responsibility,&#8221; he remarked. &#8220;And we don&#8217;t talk about that enough and talk about some of the symptoms, whether it&#8217;s crime, whether it&#8217;s support outcomes in school, we don&#8217;t talk about the genesis, and the genesis is that in 1955, 25% of black kids entered the world without a father married to the mother,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Now 70% do,&#8221; he <a href="https://www.joplinglobe.com/opinion/columns/larry-elder-fatherless-households-a-national-crisis/article_06e37c30-bb2c-58fc-8d06-db5dc47f73c7.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a>.
&#8220;And forget about Elder,&#8221; he said, referring to himself. &#8220;Barack Obama once said, &#8216;A kid raising a father is five times more likely to be poor and commit crime, nine times more likely to drop out of school, and 20 times more likely to end up in jail,'&#8221; he said, paraphrasing him.
“Now the question is how have we gone from 25% of black kids entering the world without a father married to the mother to fast forward almost 70%? Now, the answer again, the welfare state,&#8221; he added, noting that the problem goes beyond racial lines. &#8220;Forty percent of all American kids now enter the world <a class="c-link c-link--focus-visible" href="https://www.childtrends.org/publications/dramatic-increase-in-percentage-of-births-outside-marriage-among-whites-hispanics-and-women-with-higher-education-levels#:~:text=Among%20the%20most%20notable%20changes,(Child%20Trends%2C%202016)." target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-stringify-link="https://www.childtrends.org/publications/dramatic-increase-in-percentage-of-births-outside-marriage-among-whites-hispanics-and-women-with-higher-education-levels#:~:text=Among%20the%20most%20notable%20changes,(Child%20Trends%2C%202016)." data-sk="tooltip_parent" data-remove-tab-index="true">without a father married</a> to the mother.&#8221;
&#8220;It is a neutron bomb that has been dropped on this country,&#8221; he said with disdain. &#8220;And we do not talk about it enough.&#8221;
America&#8217;s Failing Education System: The Problem Is With Inputs, Not Outcomes
The other pressing issue is the &#8220;abysmal education system&#8221; in this country — which is in large part the fault of parental neglect and not rewarding the best teachers. The emphasis should be on input — not outcomes.
&#8220;Eighty-five percent of black eighth graders, <a href="https://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2015/12/11/african-american-students-lagging-far-behind" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to national tests, are neither math nor reading grade proficient. That means you have a large number of 13-year-old black boys and girls who are functionally illiterate and &#8230; and we yell and scream about outcomes and equal outcomes,&#8221; Elder said. &#8220;We don&#8217;t talk enough about unequal inputs.&#8221;
Conservatives tend to have a reputation for wanting to dismantle the public education system, but in speaking with Elder, it is clear that he advocates an &#8220;all-of-the-above&#8221; approach; homeschooling, school choice, private education, online education, and more.
Yet, teachers who go above and beyond must be compensated appropriately and generously in that system.
&#8220;We need to make sure that we have teacher pay that&#8217;s commensurate with performance,&#8221; Elder remarked. &#8220;Everybody remembers that two or three or four wonderful teachers they have. Why should those wonderful teachers make the same amount of money as a teacher in the classroom right next door who&#8217;s not a wonderful teacher? Some of these teachers should be making a quarter million dollars, they&#8217;re that good.&#8221;
&#8220;People that can inspire you, that can bring kids to life, can bring them half alive — there&#8217;s always a handful of teachers like that, and they should be treated like rockstars. They should be treated like athletes,&#8221; Elder proclaimed. &#8220;We should have a system like that, but we don&#8217;t. So there&#8217;s something that we need to do.&#8221;
When asked why schools are failing, Elder was blunt again.
&#8220;Again, it&#8217;s because of the breakdown of the family,&#8221; he answered quickly. &#8220;The family&#8217;s job is to deliver on the doorstep of the schools at eight o&#8217;clock in the morning, a kid who&#8217;s been fed, clothed, housed, and is ready to learn and sufficiently disciplined to do that. After that, then the school takes over. And unfortunately, we have a lot of bad teachers that end up in the inner city.&#8221;
&#8220;Therefore we ought to have school choice,&#8221; he said again, offering a solution to the problem. &#8220;So that there are certain schools that have much more exacting standards and expect much more of parents and those kinds of kids and those kinds of parents should be able to put their kids in a school like that.&#8221;
The Myth Of Systemic Racism
&#8220;I&#8217;m going to talk about crime,&#8221; Elder said. &#8220;When you push this myth, this lie that police are engaging in systemic racism. What happens is what they call &#8216;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkoGZIYvWm0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Ferguson Effect</a>&#8216; or more recently The George Floyd Effect. The police pull back, they don&#8217;t engage in proactive policing. They don&#8217;t engage in stopping, questioning, and frisking, And as a result, a bunch of bad guys are out who shouldn&#8217;t be out and the people who are hurt and murdered are primarily the very black and brown people that people on the Left claim that they care about.&#8221;
&#8220;I just don&#8217;t believe we talk about these issues strongly enough and forcefully enough,&#8221; he added.
Elder understands firsthand what it&#8217;s like growing up in poverty, amidst a family wrecked by fatherlessness.
&#8220;I&#8217;m from the hood,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;My father never grew up with a father, never knew his father&#8230;.so I know that growing up without a father is like, it&#8217;s not a death sentence,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But you have to pick up the cards and play them to the best of your ability. And I think I can tell their story and I have an obligation to do so.&#8221;
Elder also <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/2016-election/obama-trump-counties/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pointed</a> out the problems with the idea that former President Donald Trump&#8217;s election was somehow due to racism, noting that, &#8220;There were 700 counties that Obama carried both in 2008  and 2012. Two hundred of them switched to Donald Trump in 2016.&#8221;
&#8220;Were they bitten by a radioactive spider from 2012 to 2016?&#8221; he said of voters, mocking Leftists who can&#8217;t explain that switch.
Elder noted that even former Left-wing MSNBC host Chris Matthews admitted that most white people would not vote for somebody if they thought they were racist.
&#8220;So here&#8217;s a guy on MSNBC  – which is the hate Trump, hate Republicans channel — admitting that most white people would not vote for somebody if they thought they were racist. Why therefore would it be in Donald Trump&#8217;s best interest to send a racist dog whistle to racist whites or to win an election?&#8221; he said, pointing out the lunacy behind that idea.
&#8220;It&#8217;s offensive,&#8221; he declared. &#8220;And I don&#8217;t think enough people talk about that in that way.&#8221;
Elder also blamed white guilt for allowing the myth of systemic racism to continue.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve often said that whoever said that compound interest was the greatest force in the universe &#8230; has never encountered white guilt,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And that&#8217;s why you get this nonsense of Critical Race Theory. And white people believing in reparations is ridiculous. We need to go forward and we need to pick up our cards and play them to the best of our ability. You&#8217;ve got Haitians standing in line, just to get a chance to come here. Are they coming here because they believe America is systemically racist?&#8221;
Elder also pointed out that Nigerian Americans are by and large more <a href="https://www.ozy.com/around-the-world/the-most-successful-ethnic-group-in-the-u-s-may-surprise-you/86885/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">successful</a> than the average European-American.
&#8220;Please, please, please explain that,&#8221; if America is systemically racist, he said.
&#8220;These things are things the Left don&#8217;t have any good answers for and I think we ought to press them on it more than we do,&#8221; Elder said of the Republican Party.
Elder&#8217;s Faith Guides Him, Not Doing It For Fan Fare
&#8220;I&#8217;m not doing it to displace anybody,&#8221; he emphasized.
&#8220;I&#8217;m not doing it because I think that Donald Trump might not run. I think that he will run and I think he can make a very strong case for why he should win the nomination. I think Ron DeSantis might get in,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I want to talk about what I believe our party is failing to talk about enough.&#8221;
When asked if he would take a position in a Republican administration — perhaps secretary of education or vice president — Elder was open to it but maintained his faith would guide him.
&#8220;I will do what my faith calls me to do,&#8221; the radio host said. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been asked that question before, would I accept, for example, a vice president position? And the answer is I would give a strong consideration I would do whatever I help my country. I still have an obligation to do that.&#8221;
Uncle Tom II
Elder has also been busy, working as the executive producer on Uncle Tom II. The documentary is a follow-up to his first successful film, Uncle Tom.
The newest film focuses on the Marxist infiltration of American institutions and the Left&#8217;s destruction of black culture.  As noted by its promotion, it &#8220;will take the audience deeper into black America’s often eradicated history of honorable men, entrepreneurship, prosperity, faith, and patriotism, to its current perceived state of anger, discontent and victimhood.&#8221;
Elder has not officially declared he is running, but even if he doesn&#8217;t, perhaps his potential presence will get other 2024 hopefuls to discuss the issues discussed on our call.

Conservative radio talk show host Larry Elder pointed out the media shift between the Buffalo shooting in which 10 people were killed and the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, in which 19 children were killed on Tuesday.
The Buffalo shooting was allegedly committed by a reported white supremacist; the alleged shooter in the Uvalde shooting was allegedly committed by a young male with a Hispanic last name.
“19 kids, 2 teachers have been killed in a shooting at a #Uvalde Texas elementary school. It does not appear that the dead alleged shooter/killer, (shooter’s name), was a white supremacist. Biden/media, post Buffalo, deftly switch from ‘angry white men’ to ‘easy access of guns,’” Elder <a href="https://twitter.com/larryelder/status/1529397322647343104">tweeted</a>.
The Daily Wire does not name mass killers in order not to give them any notoriety.
After the Buffalo shooting, The Washington Post ran pieces with quotes such as <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2022/05/16/mass-shooting-buffalo-reflects-deeply-rooted-american-ideas/">this</a>: “more than from a conspiracy theory, the attack stemmed from the white supremacy that is deeply rooted in the White American political tradition.”
And <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/05/23/beware-data-right-wing-violence-buffalo-shooting-racism/">this</a>: “America has a problem with right-wing political violence. You need only look at the footage of Jan. 6, 2021, to see that. Or white-supremacist killings such as the recent shooting in Buffalo.”
From <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/05/14/nyregion/buffalo-shooting">The New York Times</a>: “A teenage gunman entranced by a white supremacist ideology known as replacement theory opened fire at a supermarket in Buffalo on Saturday.”
President Biden <a href="https://www.france24.com/en/americas/20220517-biden-calls-on-us-to-reject-poison-of-white-supremacy-after-buffalo-mass-shooting">chimed in</a>, “White supremacy is a poison running through our body politic and it&#8217;s been allowed to fester right in front of our eyes.”
Yet those same entities turned to guns after the Uvalde shooting:

“The latest in an epidemic of mass shootings in the United States renewed emotional pleas for stronger gun control,” The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2022/05/25/texas-school-shooting-uvalde-victims-live-updates/">reported</a>.
“The reasons for the violence are familiar and incontrovertible. The United States has many more guns than citizens, about 400 million firearms, according to a 2018 survey conducted by the nonpartisan Small Arms Survey, and 331 million people,” the San Francisco Bureau Chief for The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/25/us/american-gun-violence.html">wrote</a> in a column titled, “The Stupefying Tally of American Gun Violence.”
Elder <a href="https://www.jdnews.com/story/opinion/columns/2018/03/03/larry-elder-how-many-lives-are-saved-by-guns-and-why-dont-gun-controllers-care/987091007/">wrote in 2018</a>:

Radio host and former California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder slammed California’s mask mandates as a “joke,” following Sunday’s Super Bowl LVI during which multiple celebrities were seen maskless, despite Los Angeles’ other mask requirements.
“If you go to a restaurant here in L.A. County you are supposed to show proof you’ve been vaccinated,” Larry Elder told Fox News’ Bill Hemmer on “<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/larry-elder-on-california-mask-mandate-the-whole-thing-is-a-joke">America’s Newsroom</a>.” “Walk in with a mask. Sit at a table, remove the mask. All servers are wearing masks. As you saw at the Super Bowl, 78,000 people not wearing masks, although remember the L.A. mayor wasn’t wearing a mask the other day at the NFC championship game. He was holding his breath. 78,000 people were holding their breath the entire game.”
“The whole thing is a joke,” Elder continued. “They were handing out N-95 masks for everybody entering the stadium. The only concession stand that didn’t make money was the facemask stands. Kids are going to school now and have to wear masks. Come July, a mandate that all kids have to be vaccinated and wear masks while the governor now is trying to ease the mandates, but he is caught between a rock and a hard place… I don’t know what the rules are.”
One figure who was the target of widespread criticism was Los Angeles Democrat Mayor Eric Garcetti, who was again photographed at the Super Bowl without a mask. When Garcetti was seen maskless at the NFC Championship game, he claimed he was “holding his breath.” After Garcetti’s second maskless moment in SoFi Stadium during the Super Bowl — which requires mask-wearing indoors and outdoors during events with more than 5,000 people — Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) mocked the mayor, tweeting, “He’s really good at holding his breath.”

On February 2, asked about photos of him maskless with Los Angeles Lakers icon Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Garcetti stated, “I’ll take personal responsibility, and if it makes you and everyone else happy — or even the photographs with people where literally I’m holding my breath for two seconds — I won’t even do that,” <a href="https://twitter.com/DEADLINE/status/1489029202452094978">Deadline</a> reported.
“I wore my mask the entire game,” Garcetti <a href="https://abc7.com/eric-garcetti-maskless-magic-johnson-rams-game-photo/11533891/">protested</a>. “When people ask for a photograph, I hold my breath and I put it here and people can see that. There is a zero percent chance of infection from that.”
He added, “I won’t pull it down for two seconds anymore — that’s easy. But to me, it is crystal clear that nobody has been endangered by that and I’m trying to model the good behavior of making sure we wear this (for the) entire game,” <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10471247/LA-Mayor-Eric-Garcetti-says-held-breath-maskless-photo-Magic-Johnson.html">The Daily Mail</a> noted.
Other notable celebrities who attended the Super Bowl without masks were LeBron James, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Jay-Z, Ellen DeGeneres, Will Ferrell, and Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a “The Rock.”

In addition, Elder will focus on key local races in California that impact public safety and education &#8211; both key features of his campaign to unseat Gavin Newsom during last year’s recall election.
“The announcement comes on the heels of Elder’s unprecedented California gubernatorial campaign, in which Elder received 3.5 million votes, 30% more than the next closest recall challenger, and raised approximately $22.5 million dollars after only campaigning for 8 weeks,” Elder For America announced in a press release. “The Elder for America PAC will engage in public education campaigns, direct voter contact, and fundraising to help Republicans win key seats in the House and Senate, and affect public policy on the local level.”
“I ran for Governor because I wanted to make a difference,” Elder said. “While I may not know what the future holds for me politically, our campaign’s ability to attract millions of votes and millions of dollars in a very short time demonstrates we have a message that resonates with Americans, and I believe we can put that to good use.”
“Today, we don’t just have a state to save, we have a country save. The radical left’s woke agenda is destroying America. Our major cities look like warzones thanks to ‘progressive’ district attorneys and other pro-criminal policies. The distinction in quality of life between areas controlled by leftists and those that are not highlights the failure of the woke movement,” Elder continued. “Our children are being sent to school, not to learn, but to be indoctrinated.  Without a safe environment or proper education, low-income and minority students are never even given the chance to succeed. We must do better for our future generations.”
“At the federal level, Democrat leadership is hell bent on ruining the economy, either through massive inflation or draconian mandates for workers and employers.  Rather than steadfastly protecting our constitutional rights, they are actively seeking to chip away at them until they no longer exist,” Elder concluded. “I for one have had enough, which is why I am determined to fight for important issues in places where we can make a real difference in the outcome. The elite class has plenty of special interest groups and lobbyists to represent them. It’s high time the American people have their own representation.”
When Elder <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/larry-elder-explains-decision-to-run-for-governor-this-is-an-intervention-a-mission-of-mercy-damage-control">explained</a> his decision to run for governor of California in July 2021, he cited Gavin Newsom’s “egregious” behavior, including trips to the upscale French Laundry restaurant while “his own kids [continued] to enjoy their private in-school education,” as one reason for his decision.
Elder spoke with The Daily Wire at the time, and said that he considered “this an intervention, a mission of mercy, damage control.”
“The state is practically ungovernable with Democrats enjoying supermajorities in the Senate and the Assembly, plus a left-wing clueless governor totally beholden to the teachers union that opposes choice in school,” Elder added.

Conservative Larry Elder posted a meme Tuesday to his verified Instagram account highlighting left-wing media figures and politicos who push racial politics and are romantically partnered with white people.
&#8220;Why are they all married to whites if white&#8217;s [sic] are systemically racist?&#8221; the meme reads. Elder added the hashtag, &#8220;<a class=" xil3i" href="https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/wevegotacountrytosave/">#WeveGotACountryToSave</a>.&#8221;
The meme includes a photo of radical Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her boyfriend Riley Roberts, who is white. It also includes married and engaged couples, like CNN host Don Lemon and his fiancé Tim Malone, who is white, and Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and her wife Amy Eshleman, who is also white. Vice President Kamala Harris and her white husband Douglas Emhoff and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and her white husband Tim Mynett are pictured in the meme, too.
All of the politicians and media figures featured in the meme have pushed racial politics and so-called systemic racism in America. Lemon, for example, has suggested that Americans do not believe black people as &#8220;fully human.&#8221;
“We’re living in two different realities as black and white people,” Lemon told The Washington Post this summer.

“It was a wake-up call to white people who thought we were living in a nonracist world,” Lemon <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnns-don-lemon-i-dont-know-if-americans-see-black-people-as-fully-human">said</a> of Trump’s election win in 2016. “We’re living in two different realities as black and white people. We knew, as black people, what was lurking beneath the surface. I still believe that he was the necessary wake-up for America to realize just how racist it is.”
Lemon added that it&#8217;s his calling to “guide white people through racism.”
Harris turned heads when she visited Jacob Blake in the hospital and apparently told him she was &#8220;proud of him,&#8221; according to Blake&#8217;s lawyer, and emphasized the need for &#8220;implicit bias&#8221; training of police officers. An armed Blake, who is black, was shot by officers after his girlfriend called the police for help. Harris has also supported violent rioting by the Black Lives Matter movement and stressed that America has a history of racism that still prevails today.
Omar has frequently talked about &#8220;<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/ilhan-omar-when-i-spoke-out-about-systematic-oppression-the-republican-response-was-vicious/2020/07/15/5bc79f7a-c6ce-11ea-8ffe-372be8d82298_story.html">structural racism</a>&#8221; and &#8220;systemic oppression&#8221; against minorities in America. 
AOC has routinely complained about &#8220;<a href="https://nypost.com/2021/07/03/for-aoc-and-squad-racism-and-white-supremacy-are-fallbacks/">white supremacy</a>&#8221; and &#8220;systemic racism&#8221; in our nation and bizarrely tied &#8220;<a href="https://nypost.com/2021/04/21/aoc-now-blames-racial-injustice-for-the-climate-crisis/">racial injustice</a>&#8221; to climate change.
Lightfoot this summer declared &#8220;<a href="https://abc7chicago.com/mayor-lori-lightfoot-racism-chicago-department-of-public-health-news/10801185/">racism</a>&#8221; a public health crisis in Chicago.
Elder, who is black, has refuted the claims that there is systemic racism in America, particularly when it comes to policing, as he <a href="https://www.joplinglobe.com/opinion/columns/larry-elder-no-evidence-of-anti-black-systemic-racism/article_cedff786-97ee-11eb-829d-737cd6512025.html">wrote</a> in April 2021, ripping former President Barack Obama:
<blockquote>Obama knows the statistics and studies. He knows there is no evidence of anti-Black &#8216;systemic racism&#8217; on the part of the police. But the political Obama knows that Black anger and resentment translate into Black votes. How many routine police encounters with Blacks escalate into something far more serious because young Blacks believe the “systemic racism” lie pushed by Black Lives Matter and their sympathizers?
Polls rate Obama as one of the most admired people in America, particularly among Black Americans. Out of office, he maintains respect, power, stature and influence. As president, he could have saved lives by putting truth over politics. He chose not to. As a former president, he still can.
Mr. Obama, tell the truth. Save lives. It’s not too late.</blockquote>

Larry Elder Posts Meme About Leftists Who Push Racial Politics Marrying, Dating White People

After the California gubernatorial recall election, many pundits, as well as my opponent&#8217;s campaign manager, pushed the narrative that &#8220;Larry Elder was a gift&#8221; to Gov. Gavin Newsom. A kinder, gentler Republican, they insisted, who distanced himself from the loathsome former President Donald Trump, would have made all the difference in the world, despite the fact that 75% of California voters are registered as Democrats or independents.
CNN&#8217;s Lincoln Mitchell wrote: &#8220;Elder was precisely what Newsom needed to make the fear of Trumpism real in the eyes of California&#8217;s substantial Democratic majority. Elder, a long-time conservative talk radio host, is well known among right-wing Californians, but many other voters have only gotten to know him in more recent weeks.&#8221; A San Francisco Chronicle headline read: &#8220;Larry Elder Is the Trumpist Who May Save Gavin Newsom&#8217;s Job.&#8221;
After the race, Politico asserted: &#8220;By Labor Day, Newsom had turned what started as an up-or-down vote on his governorship into a choice between him and Elder, the radio show host Newsom relentlessly tethered to Trump. &#8230; For Newsom, the emergence of Elder as the GOP&#8217;s standard bearer was an unexpected gift.&#8221;
Really?
The treatment of Virginia governor-elect Glenn Youngkin and black lieutenant governor-elect Winsome Sears completely destroys the &#8220;Elder-was-the-wrong-kind-of-Republican&#8221; analysis. The hysterical reaction to the Republican victory demonstrates that any Republican, especially a black one, would have faced the same unhinged attacks leveled against me during my campaign.
After the Republican victory in Virginia, in which Sears, a black female Marine vet with a master&#8217;s degree, was elected lieutenant governor, black MSNBC pundit Michael Eric Dyson said: &#8220;The problem is, here, they want white supremacy by ventriloquist effect. There is a black mouth moving but a white idea &#8230; running on the runway of the tongue of a figure who justifies and legitimates the white supremacist practices.&#8221;
I did not invite Trump to campaign for or with me. Neither did Youngkin. Like Youngkin, I support school choice, oppose vaccine mandates, and am pro-life. Unlike in the Youngkin race, Trump did not publicly endorse me. Still, Newsom described me as &#8220;more Trump than Trump.&#8221; In Newsom&#8217;s ungracious victory speech, he said: &#8220;We may have defeated Trump, but Trumpism is not dead.&#8221;
About Virginia, CNN&#8217;s black pundit Van Jones said: &#8220;The stakes are high. When this election is over in Virginia, we will know. Have we seen the emergence of the delta variant of Trumpism? In other words, Youngkin, same disease, but spreads a lot faster and can get a lot more places.&#8221;
After Youngkin&#8217;s victory, Jemele Hill, a black former ESPN host tweeted: &#8220;It&#8217;s not the messaging, folks. This country simply loves white supremacy.&#8221; Black MSNBC host Joy Reid said: &#8220;You have to be willing to vocalize that these Republicans are dangerous. &#8230; Stoking that kind of soft white nationalism eventually leads to the hardcore stuff. It leads to the Jan. 6 stuff.&#8221; Soft white nationalism? Black NBC pundit Jason Johnson said: &#8220;This was about how white kids feel talking about what black kids go through. Let&#8217;s just call it what it is.&#8221;
Virginia Democrat Sen. Tim Kaine said: &#8220;If you look at the Youngkin campaign, they&#8217;ve made it about kind of invented inflated issues like critical race theory. &#8230; It&#8217;s unheard of, and it hearkens back to a long tradition in Virginia history.&#8221; The election of a black, female lieutenant governor, whose Jamaican immigrant father came to America with $1.75 in his pocket, &#8220;hearkens back to a long tradition in Virginia history&#8221; of Jim Crow segregation? Black Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison said: &#8220;This is a dog whistle to divide people. &#8230; It is about racial divisions, racial hatred, racial animosity. &#8230; It&#8217;s sad to see where the Republican Party is going because they have become a party of fascism and fear.&#8221;
During my race, a Los Angeles Times headline read: &#8220;Larry Elder is the black face of white supremacy. You&#8217;ve been warned.&#8221; As for fellow &#8220;white supremacist&#8221; Lt. Gov.-elect Sears, it&#8217;s nice to have company.

ELDER: Virginia Blows Up The ‘Larry Elder-Was-The-Wrong-Candidate’ Narrative

At one point, polls showed the odds of recalling California Gov. Gavin Newsom looked 50-50. It was at that point that the scared, embattled governor sent out a mayday call to Hollywood and to Democratic outsiders, including former President Barack Obama.
The Hollywood Reporter — three weeks before the date of the recall vote — published a piece with the headline: &#8220;Facing Recall, Gavin Newsom Calls on Hollywood Dems: Help!&#8221;
The Reporter wrote: &#8220;Newsom aides have reached out to several prominent celebrities including Snoop Dogg, urging the rapper to tweet to his 19.2 million followers his disapproval of Republican radio talk show host Larry Elder, who has emerged as a leading candidate to replace Newsom in the event that the governor is recalled. Snoop, according to a source, has agreed and is waiting for the right moment — but others aren&#8217;t holding their fire.&#8221;
Clearly that shrewd political analyst, Snoop Dogg, knows that a &#8220;Republican takeover&#8221; threatens Californians far more than rising crime; rising cost of living; highest state income tax in the nation; rising homelessness; poor wildfire management; water shortages that threaten agriculture (the state&#8217;s biggest business); &#8220;rolling brownouts&#8221; to conserve energy due to poor management of California&#8217;s power grid; an economy that — by mid-2021 — saw more businesses depart California than all of last year; and that for the first time in history California suffered a net loss in population, primarily due to median cost of housing that is 250% above the median national home price.
I never suggested that anyone should vote for or against me because I&#8217;m Black. Others made much about my potentially becoming California&#8217;s first Black governor. I did not. To me, after the election of Obama, the nation&#8217;s first Black president, everything else is pretty much anticlimactic.
But my candidacy posed a problem for the left-wing media and its obsession with identity politics. The New York Times, for example, ran a negative article on my candidacy. It never mentioned my race, let alone that I stood to become California&#8217;s first Black governor. Fine with me. Isn&#8217;t it about time we pay more attention to a candidate&#8217;s suitability rather than the identity box he or she checks off? But on the very same day, the Times wrote about New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, pointedly noting that she became that state&#8217;s &#8220;first female&#8221; Governor. Because she had a &#8220;D&#8221; next her name, her being &#8220;the first&#8221; became relevant. But the &#8220;R&#8221; after my name meant that I ceased being Black.
This brings us to Obama, the man who went from saying, &#8220;There&#8217;s not a Black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America. There&#8217;s the United States of America,&#8221; to lecturing that racism is &#8220;still part of our DNA.&#8221;
Obama cut an ad for Newsom denouncing the possible &#8220;Republican takeover.&#8221;
Never mind that during the first eight months of the pandemic, Newsom oversaw the early release of 18,000 convicted felons. Violent crime is up. In 2020, the number of persons shot in Los Angeles increased 41% over 2019. Black and Hispanic neighborhoods were hit hardest.
Never mind that the percentage and number of Blacks living in Los Angeles and San Francisco has declined since 2010 because the median home price in California is more than $800,000. The excessive price is due to environmental extremists to whom Newsom&#8217;s beholden. Obama cut an ad opposing Newsom&#8217;s recall.
Never mind that 6.5% of California is Black. Yet, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, nearly 40% of California&#8217;s homeless population is Black. I had a plan to tackle this problem. Under Gov. Newsom it&#8217;s only gotten worse.
And never mind that in 2016, 76% of Black boys in California public schools could not read at state proficiency, according to the California Department of Education. Barack Obama and his kids enjoyed K-12 private education. Black parents support school choice, a centerpiece of my campaign for governor.
Finally, this brings us to a question. If I am &#8220;the Black face of white supremacy,&#8221; what does one call Snoop Dogg and Barack Obama, whom embattled Gov. Newsom enlisted to defend policies that disproportionately hurt Black people?
