Singer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Courtney Love</a> had some criticism for some fellow <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music">recording artists</a>, which she candidly shared during a recently published <a href="https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/courtney-love-bbc-6-music-interview-taylor-swift-b1151094.html">interview</a> with U.K.-based outlet The Standard.
The 59-year-old took aim at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-swift">Taylor Swift</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lana-del-rey">Lana Del Rey</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/madonna">Madonna</a>, and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/beyonce">Beyoncé</a> specifically.
“Taylor is not important,” Love told the outlet of the global pop star. “She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”
The alt-rocker said she and the Material Girl don’t get along, either. 
“I don’t like her and she doesn’t like me,” Love said of Madonna. “I loved [the 1985 American comedy-drama film] ‘Desperately Seeking Susan,’ but for the city of New York as much as her.”
At another point in the interview, the former Hole band member said she’s also not a fan of Beyoncé’s new album, Cowboy Carter. 
“I mean, I like the idea of Beyoncé doing a country record because it’s about black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed, not that I like it much. As a concept, I love it. I just don’t like her music,” she explained.
She also voiced her critique of Grammy-nominated singer Del Rey: “I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off. Up until ‘Take Me Home Country Roads,’ I thought she was great. When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much.”

Love went on to say that contemporary artists overall sound too much alike. “It’s great that there are so many successful women in the music industry, but lots of them are becoming a cliché,” she told the outlet. “Now, every successful woman is cloned, so there is just too much music. They’re all the same. If you play something on Spotify, you get bombarded with a lot of stuff that’s exactly the same.”
Love is best known for her rise to fame in the alternative and grunge scenes of the 1990s as a member of the band Hole, plus for her marriage to fellow rock star Kurt Cobain. She also appeared in several films in the early 2000s.

Singer Lana Del Rey has a different reaction to the Trump presidency, believing it needed to happen in order to highlight the world&#8217;s greatest problem: narcissism.
Speaking with <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000r3k5">BBC1 Radio</a>, Del Rey said that the &#8220;madness that was Trump&#8221; finally revealed that the world has a serious problem with narcissism and sociopathy, putting those two issues above climate change and other left-wing causes celebres.
“The madness of Trump, as bad as it was, it really needed to happen. We really needed a reflection of our world’s greatest problem, which is not climate change, but sociopathy and narcissism. Especially in America,” she said. “It’s going to kill the world. It’s not capitalism, it’s narcissism. I was surprised we didn’t have a live-television psychopath crazy person as a president a long time ago because that’s what we see on TV and that’s what we see on Instagram.”
In the same interview, Del Rey said that she did not believe President Trump was directly inciting a riot at the Capitol last Wednesday, arguing the man has &#8220;delusions of grandeur.&#8221;
&#8220;You know, he doesn’t know that he’s inciting a riot and I believe that,&#8221; she said, as reported by <a href="https://www.complex.com/music/2021/01/lana-del-rey-capitol-riot-donald-trump?utm_campaign=musictw&amp;utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_medium=social">Complex</a>.
Of Trump supporters, Del Rey added that the riot showed where the country&#8217;s collective mental health is at.
&#8220;We don’t know how to find a way to be wild in our world. And at the same time, the world is so wild,&#8221; she said.
&#8220;We didn’t know that we got half of the country who wants to shoot up the Capitol&#8221; she added. &#8220;We didn’t really know that because we never got to see it. I think this gave us the opportunity to see where our level of mental health is at.&#8221;
Leftist trolls immediately began to scold Del Rey on social media, prompting her to respond to the backlash.
&#8220;Thanks for the cool soundbite taken out of context, I said that the bigger problem is Sociopathy-so whether he meant to incite a riot is less important than the larger issue in America at hand -the problem of sociopathy,&#8221; she said on Twitter.

Del Rey took on a wave of feminist and social justice scorn in May of last year when she dared to call out her critics for hypocritically dismissing her music for not being feminist enough while promoting the likes of Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and Beyoncé.
“Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f***ing, cheating, etc — can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money — or whatever I want — without being crucified or saying that I’m glamorizing abuse?” Del Rey asked.
“I am fed up with female writers and alt singers saying that I glamorize abuse when in reality I’m just a glamorous person singing about the realities of what we are all now seeing are very prevalent emotionally abusive relationships all over the world,” she continued.
Despite her passionate plea for fairness, critics on social media dinged Del Rey for criticizing Cardi B and Beyoncé — women of color.

In early October, singer Lana Del Rey took a beating on social media when photos went viral of her wearing a mesh face mask during a book signing. According to her, the mask had plastic behind it, which, based on the photos, appears accurate.
In a tweet on Monday, Del Rey responded to an article in The Michigan Daily saying that the singer&#8217;s mesh face mask may have gotten her canceled.
&#8220;Great article. The mask had plastic on the inside,&#8221; she tweeted. &#8220;They’re commonly sewn in by stylists these days. I don’t generally respond to articles because I don’t care. But there ya go. Same goes for everyone’s masks in my video. I’m lucky enough to have a team of people who can do that.&#8221;

At the time of the controversy, people on social media immediately jumped to the worst of conclusions and scolded her.
“Girl that’s not a mask. you make good music but poor decisions,” said one Instagram follower.
“Girl not that mesh mask r u kidding me,” said another follower.
“Is that a mask? I think that mask does nothing,” said another.
The comments were overwhelmingly negative with few defenders in Del Rey’s corner. Del Rey’s sister, Caroline, later claimed that she tested negative for COVID-19 and practiced social distancing at the book signing.
