Mark Kelly</a> (D-AZ) refused to back Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kyrsten-sinema" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kyrsten Sinema</a> (I-AZ) over the weekend when asked about her leaving the Democratic Party late last year.
Kelly was asked about Sinema during a Sunday interview on CNN&#8217;s &#8220;State of the Union&#8221; with Jake Tapper.
Tapper mentioned how Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) indicated that he believes Sinema needed to be supported because of her &#8220;independent spirit.&#8221;
&#8220;Do you agree with him?&#8221; Tapper asked. &#8220;Or do you anticipate supporting whoever the Democratic nominee for that Senate seat would be?&#8221;

Arizona Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego announced Monday that he will run for the U.S. Senate in 2024, taking on the incumbent Democrat-turned-independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema.
Gallego&#8217;s campaign adds to a likely three-way race in the general election after Sinema switched her party affiliation in December.
“Growing up poor, all I had was the American dream. It kept me going: as a kid sleeping on the floor, a student scrubbing toilets, a Marine losing brothers in Iraq,” Gallego tweeted alongside a campaign launch video.

The congressman&#8217;s jump into the Senate election will likely serve as part of a large field of candidates competing for the seat in the primary election. Among Republican contenders speculated to potentially run are Kari Lake, who lost in a run for governor in 2022, and Blake Masters, who lost in his 2022 Senate run against incumbent Democrat Mark Kelly.
Several other GOP candidates are also <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/campaign/arizona-senate-gallego-sinema-democrats" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rumored</a> for a potential Arizona Senate run in 2024. Among them are U.S. Reps. Andy Biggs, Juan Ciscomani, Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, 2022 gubernatorial candidate Karrin Taylor Robson, and Arizona GOP Chairwoman Kelli Ward.
An early poll pitting Lake, Gallego, and Sinema in a three-way race in the general election shows Lake at 36%, Gallego at 32%, and Sinema at just 14%. One in six voters was undecided, <a href="https://blueprintpolling.com/2023/01/11/2024-arizona-election-preview-sinemas-long-odds-and-waning-enthusiasm-for-biden/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to</a> Blueprint Polling&#8217;s January 11 survey.
The poll also noted that Sinema polls low among the state&#8217;s Hispanic voters.
&#8220;Sinema gets very little support from Hispanic voters, garnering 3% of their vote (Gallego leads Lake 41%-39% with this group), while Sinema gets the support of 17% of white Arizonans. Notably, Gallego does better with women by about 4% than with men, and Sinema enjoys a similar positive differential with men,&#8221; according to Blueprint Polling.
Sinema was often at odds with those in her own Democratic Party for not always backing President Joe Biden&#8217;s agenda. Most recently, the senator attended the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this month, where she spoke out against the Biden administration&#8217;s border policies.
“The key is to create a system where we get to choose as a nation who we will invite into the country and who we will not. Right now, because our immigration security system is completely broken, we are not choosing who gets to come and who doesn’t. The cartels are choosing,” she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kemp-sinema-other-american-lawmakers-take-the-stage-at-world-economic-forum" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “And that is not sustainable for our country.”
The senator also drew attention in December after announcing that she was leaving the Democratic Party.
“In catering to the fringes, neither party has demonstrated much tolerance for diversity of thought,” Sinema <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/2022/12/09/sen-kyrsten-sinema-of-arizona-why-im-registering-as-an-independent/69712395007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>. “Bipartisan compromise is seen as a rarely acceptable last resort, rather than the best way to achieve lasting progress. Payback against the opposition party has replaced thoughtful legislating.”
Sinema is not alone among Democrats leaving the party. Former Hawaiian congresswoman and former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard announced her departure in October. At the state level, West Virginia state Sen. Glenn Jeffries <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democratic-west-virginia-state-senator-switches-to-republican-party" target="_blank" rel="noopener">left</a> the Democratic Party in December to join the Republicans.

Republican and Democratic officials discussed the future of bipartisan cooperation in the United States during the <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/world-economic-forum" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Economic Forum</a> in Davos, Switzerland.
The lawmakers spoke during a <a href="https://www.weforum.org/events/world-economic-forum-annual-meeting-2023/sessions/america-un-bound" target="_blank" rel="noopener">panel event</a> centered upon policy priorities in the United States moderated by World Economic Forum President Børge Brende. The Republicans and Democrats, to various degrees, asserted that reaching toward the middle of the aisle is more effective for the country than catering to purported radicals, especially on the Right.
Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) both affirmed that the United States would continue to aid Ukraine until they are victorious over Russia. The latter lawmaker stressed that the Inflation Reduction Act would increase energy security to help European allies facing power supply crunches. “The United States cannot be the greatest economy in the world, we cannot be the superpower of the world, if we do not have energy security,” he commented.
When discussing bipartisan compromise, Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) claimed that there still remains a “pro-Russia” faction of the Republican Party: “I just don’t know where that stuff comes from other than QAnon.” Manchin added that open social media platforms increase partisanship.
Brende asked whether Democrats and Republicans would successfully find a compromise on the nation’s southern border. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) answered by expressing support for increased border security. “The key is to create a system where we get to choose as a nation who we will invite into the country and who we will not. Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), who was one of several Republicans to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/here-are-the-republicans-attending-the-world-economic-forum-next-week" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attend</a> the World Economic Forum despite skepticism toward the organization from conservatives, asserted that the United States cannot remain a superpower and support Europe without significant reforms to the immigration system. “I represent the Hispanics, which are the largest minority in the country,” she remarked. “The overwhelming majority of the people who are crossing the border as we speak are Hispanics and Latinos like I am. I believe that people like me in Congress should be the ones telling the rest of the political elite that it’s time for both parties to pay attention to something that for the last 35 years neither party has been able to do.”
Brende asked Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) to discuss lackluster Republican performance in the most recent midterm elections; he emphasized his decision to run on his economic record. “I think the people of the state that I represent, which is a great one, they want to know the differences between the candidates, but they also want to know what we’re for,” he said.
Kemp likewise voiced his frustration regarding the fentanyl crisis, increased human trafficking, and other effects of lackluster border security. “Secure the dang border,” he exhorted lawmakers on the stage.

Several American officials reportedly enjoyed a lavish lunch with some of the planet’s most powerful corporate leaders and <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/world-economic-forum" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Economic Forum</a> Chair <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/klaus-schwab" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Klaus Schwab</a> during the organization’s annual conference in Davos, Switzerland.
The organization is a leading proponent of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/esg-the-invisible-fist-of-the-economy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stakeholder capitalism</a>, an approach to investments that says executives must consider the needs of communities and other parties in addition to shareholders, as well as increased cooperation between public and private actors. Officials such as Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), and “a few members of the House of Representatives” took part in a luncheon at the conference alongside prominent executives on Monday, according to a <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/16/world-economic-forum-manchin-sinema-attend-davos-luncheon-with-ceos.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from CNBC.
One attendee told the outlet that Coons and Manchin each addressed the crowd of business leaders. Coons reportedly discussed efforts to fund the Ukrainian war effort against Russia, while Manchin commented on the merits of American energy independence.
Coons told the outlet that “about 50 CEOs” would attend the luncheon at the Hotel Schatzalp, a property situated in the Alps and decorated in belle époque style. Among the executives in attendance at the lunch was Hewlett Packard Enterprise CEO Antonio Neri.
European leaders are currently incensed by the Inflation Reduction Act, a law signed by President Joe Biden last year, because the package subsidized American electric vehicle manufacturing and neglected to offer the same benefits to European automakers. Manchin said during an <a href="https://www.politico.eu/article/world-econommic-forum-us-lawmakers-pitch-von-der-leyen-in-davos-were-not-protectionist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with POLITICO Europe that the continent’s leaders are “hyper-hypocritical” following several decades of their own protectionist measures.
“That bill was designed to basically strengthen the United States so that we can help our allies and friends, which need it right now,&#8221; the centrist lawmaker remarked. &#8220;And if anybody needs it, the E.U. needs it. And without that, we&#8217;re not going to be and maintain the superpower status of the world if we&#8217;re not energy independent.&#8221;
Manchin said that he has admonished European leaders to refrain from regulations on fossil fuels and instead emphasize technological innovations. “I told them, I said, the most important thing is basically you cannot eliminate your way to clean your climate,” he added. “You can innovate it, and that&#8217;s what we&#8217;re doing in the U.S.”
Coons told the outlet that European powers grew “too reliant on Russian energy,” commenting that he desires to “find a path forward” and discuss “the alignment of values and priorities.”
The theme of this year’s World Economic Forum conference is “Cooperation in a Fragmented World,” which involves “how we can tackle the numerous and interlinked challenges the world is facing and find solutions through public-private cooperation,” according to a <a href="https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2023/01/davos-2023-day-1-what-to-expect/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a> from the organization. Executives scheduled to speak or participate in panel events include Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, while political leaders such as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska will <a href="https://www3.weforum.org/docs/WEF_AM23_List_of_confirmed_PFs.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attend</a> the conference.
Several officials from the Biden administration, which has <a href="https://www.state.gov/first-movers-coalition-announces-expansion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">partnered</a> with the World Economic Forum through the First Movers Coalition, a “public-private partnership to commercialize clean technologies through advance purchase commitments,” are representing the United States. A newly-revealed alleged 37-page staffer guide for Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kyrsten-sinema" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kyrsten Sinema</a> (I-AZ) has raised concerns among ethics experts that she might be crossing the line in terms of the tasks that she allegedly demands of her staff.
The memo, <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-incredible-37-page-guide-for-staffing-sen-kyrsten-sinema" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained</a> by The Daily Beast, is effectively a long list of dos and don&#8217;ts for staffers to follow to meet all of Sinema&#8217;s demands.
The memo instructs staff to contact Sinema at the start of every week to &#8220;ask if she needs groceries&#8221; and to respond to the proper staff notifying them that the tasks have been completed. The staff are reimbursed through CashApp.
Staffers are instructed to set up maintenance repairs at a private apartment if internet service goes down and to make sure that they are on the property to let in repair workers.
Ethics experts told the publication that the memo could run afoul of Senate ethics <a href="https://www.ethics.senate.gov/downloads/pdffiles/manual.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-uri="437e9bb18390d70aba4420e5b35f4f30">rules</a>, which state that “staff are compensated for the purpose of assisting senators in their official legislative and representational duties, and not for the purpose of performing personal or other nonofficial activities for themselves or on behalf of others.”
The memo says that Sinema &#8220;is protective of her personal time&#8221; because she has &#8220;time-consuming commitments outside of this job,&#8221; which largely consist of her personal hobbies and her job teaching at Arizona State University.
“Do not schedule anything, ever, outside of ‘regular’ work hours without first getting Kyrsten’s permission,” the document reads. “She will very, very rarely agree to work outside the regular hours, so only ask if it’s a big deal.”
Sinema allegedly does not start work before 8 a.m. and will not work after 8 p.m., which the report noted is rare for a U.S. Senator.
Much of what was released from the memo details the importance of Sinema’s fitness regimen and how that shapes what staffers should do, from not scheduling her for events on the weekends until at least 1 p.m. in the afternoon to making sure she eats at certain times throughout the day and that there is always water on hand.
Take, for example, the section about booking flights for her, which states that it is the staff&#8217;s job to “make her as comfortable as possible on each flight.”
That section of the memo states:

First choice: KS prefers an aisle seat as close to the front of the plane as possible, except that she DOES NOT want the bulkhead row. Those seats are smaller than regular seats and are crowded. She also doesn&#8217;t want the seat next to/directly in front of the bathroom on planes where there&#8217;s a bathroom in the middle of the plane. Look at the seat map for every flight you book, or ask the booking agent about the flight map if you&#8217;re reserving over the phone.
KS generally prefers to be closer to the front in a window seat, than further back in an aisle. It saves her time getting off the plane earlier.
Next choice: if you can&#8217;t get an aisle seat, get a window seat using the same guidelines as above. This shouldn&#8217;t happen often, since you&#8217;re booking most flights six weeks in advance.
Last resort: Do everything in your power not put her in a middle seat. If the circumstances are such that a middle seat is the ONLY option, make sure you email KS to let her know and also provide some information about other flights she might be able to take instead that have better seating options. Don&#8217;t book so late that middle seats are all that&#8217;s left.</blockquote>
Sinema&#8217;s office responded to the report by saying that “the alleged information—sourced from anonymous quotes and a purported document I can’t verify—is not in line with official guidance from Sen. Sinema’s office and does not represent official policies of Sen. Sinema’s office.”

Kyrsten Sinema</a> is organizing a group of Republican and Democrat senators to head to the southern border to examine the nation&#8217;s immigration system.
This is one of the biggest moves Sinema has made since <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/key-senator-leaves-democratic-party-rejecting-beltway-partisanship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ditching</a> her Democrat affiliation to become an Independent.
“Part of the problem is that many in Washington have never taken the time to really see our border up close,” Sinema said Tuesday, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/3782806-sinema-looks-to-lead-bipartisan-border-trip-to-see-broken-system/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The Hill. “Without seeing it for all of its diversity and its challenges, it can be easy to rely on the partisan talking points instead of focusing on the meaningful, realistic solutions.”
Sinema is working with Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) to pull together senators “who are willing and committed to get something done” on immigration. The trip is expected to take place in January.
“We’re gonna see what Arizonans see every day because a crisis this big should not and cannot be ignored,” the senator added.
Border Patrol has been overwhelmed with incoming migrants during the Biden presidency. It&#8217;s estimated that nearly 8,000 migrants enter the U.S. each day, according to data obtained by <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/friction-white-house-dhs-officials-migrant-numbers-rise-rcna47770">NBC</a> in September — and the crisis is expected to worsen if Title 42 ends. The measure, enacted under former President Donald Trump, allows the U.S. to immediately expel migrants on the basis of public health, specifically over COVID-19 concerns.
The Biden administration wants the measure to end, but the <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/supreme-court" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Supreme Court</a> on Monday blocked the scheduled lifting of the policy, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-supreme-court-blocks-key-immigration-policy-title-42-from-ending" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a> reported.
Sinema, who has routinely bucked the Democratic line, announced earlier this month in a <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/2022/12/09/sen-kyrsten-sinema-of-arizona-why-im-registering-as-an-independent/69712395007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">guest column for the Arizona Republic</a> that she was leaving the Democratic Party.
“Everyday Americans are increasingly left behind by national parties’ rigid partisanship, which has hardened in recent years,” the senator wrote. “Pressures in both parties pull leaders to the edges, allowing the loudest, most extreme voices to determine their respective parties’ priorities and expecting the rest of us to fall in line.”
&#8220;In catering to the fringes, neither party has demonstrated much tolerance for diversity of thought,” Sinema continued. “Bipartisan compromise is seen as a rarely acceptable last resort, rather than the best way to achieve lasting progress. Payback against the opposition party has replaced thoughtful legislating.”
Soon after her switch, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bernie-says-sinema-sabotaged-biden-agenda-disagrees-with-top-dem-who-says-her-switch-doesnt-matter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slammed</a> Sinema as a &#8220;corporate Democrat&#8221; only looking out for her own political future.

So, I think it really has to do with her political aspirations for the future in Arizona,&#8221; Sanders said on CNN.

Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-manchin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Manchin</a> (D-WV) says he has no plans to leave the Democratic Party, but he isn&#8217;t ruling out the possibility either.
A journalist <a href="https://twitter.com/mkraju/status/1602373361060954114" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asked the senator</a> on Monday if he might become an independent like Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, a move that could complicate the grip Democrats have on the upper chamber next term.
“I’ll look at all of these things. I’ve always looked all these things but I have no intention of doing anything right now,” Manchin told reporters, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/3772253-manchin-says-he-has-no-intention-of-leaving-democratic-party/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to The Hill</a>.
&#8220;Whether I do something later, I can’t tell you what the future’s going to bring. I can only tell you where I am and my mindset&#8221; now, he added.
Sinema <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/key-senator-leaves-democratic-party-rejecting-beltway-partisanship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revealed on Friday</a> that she was changing her party affiliation. She made the announcement after Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-democrat-raphael-warnock-defeats-gop-challenger-herschel-walker-in-georgia-runoff-projection" target="_blank" rel="noopener">won his special election</a>, giving the Democrats and the independents who caucus with them a slim 51-member majority in the Senate.
“I have joined the growing numbers of Arizonans who reject party politics by declaring my independence from the broken partisan system in Washington,” she wrote in a guest column for <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/2022/12/09/sen-kyrsten-sinema-of-arizona-why-im-registering-as-an-independent/69712395007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Arizona Republic</a>.
Both Manchin and Sinema are up for reelection in 2024. The pair often garner headlines when breaking with the majority of Democratic and independent senators on significant issues, but they <a href="https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/biden-congress-votes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">generally vote in line</a> with President Joe Biden, a tally from FiveThirtyEight shows.
Manchin voiced support for Sinema, saying he wants to continue working with her. &#8220;I tremendously respect her decision and wish her the best,&#8221; he also said of Sinema.

Tester brushed off Sinema&#8217;s disaffiliation Sunday on NBC&#8217;s &#8220;Meet the Press,&#8221; saying it does not matter because she will still caucus with Democrats. But Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, blasted Sinema as a &#8220;corporate Democrat&#8221; who &#8220;sabotaged&#8221; the party&#8217;s agenda.
&#8220;I was surprised that she made the change, but functionally, I don&#8217;t think it changes a thing,&#8221; Tester said. &#8220;I think we&#8217;re going to continue doing the same thing we were doing, whether she&#8217;s an independent or part of the Democratic caucus.&#8221;

A top Democratic advisor in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/arizona" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Arizona</a> explained why newly-Independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/key-senator-leaves-democratic-party-rejecting-beltway-partisanship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">left the Democratic party</a>, and why the move may backfire in 2024.
In a <a href="https://twitter.com/tcani/status/1601222625732177922?s=20&amp;t=my3HhiKXScZTAnuSX2grgg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter thread</a> Friday, Tony Cani, who previously worked as President Joe Biden&#8217;s Arizona Deputy Campaign Director in 2020, explained that Sinema has a severe crisis of dissatisfaction among Democrats of all ideological stripes. He also pointed to recent polling, which points to a potential disaster for the first-term Senator in a 2024 primary.

Recent polling has indeed shown that Sinema is in a serious hole with Arizona voters. An <a href="https://www.aarp.org/content/dam/aarp/research/surveys_statistics/politics/2022/aarp-arizona-2022-elections-voter-survey-governor.doi.10.26419-2Fres.00550.011.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AARP poll</a> conducted in September found that Sinema has just a 37% approval rating, with just 37% of Democrats approving of her job performance. That was eight points less than President Joe Biden&#8217;s overall approval of 45%, and far behind his 90% approval rating among Democrats.
Meanwhile, a poll from <a href="https://www.dataforprogress.org/blog/2022/1/26/poll-arizona-senator-kyrsten-sinema-set-to-be-unseated-by-possible-challenger-ruben-gallego-in-2024-primary-landslide" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Data for Progress</a> conducted in January showed that Sinema could face a blowout loss in a primary; progressive Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego trounces her 74%-16% in a hypothetical matchup, and Tuscon mayor Regina Romero defeats her 68%-17%. That poll showed Sinema&#8217;s approval rating at an abysmal 19% among Democratic primary voters, with a 76% disapproval rating.
&#8220;One of the challenges Sinema has is she is very memorable,&#8221; Cani continued. &#8220;So dissatisfaction is not limited to twitter and party insiders and the hyper involved. Average voters know her &amp; now know they don’t like her. Or rather, don’t like her brand. It’s near impossible to break out of that. Her base in 2022 is extremely narrow. Like corporate lobbyists only narrow. And that’s it.&#8221;
Cani also dismissed comparisons with the late Republican Senator John McCain, who had a well-established reputation as a &#8220;maverick.&#8221; Cani pointed out that McCain struggled with dissatisfaction from the Republican base, but had served in the Senate for decades and was still popular with independents, allowing him to overcome challenges from the right.
Sinema, meanwhile, is only in her first term, and her struggles are across the board. He also said comparisons to former Senator Jeff Flake were inaccurate, because Flake was not as well known. &#8220;I think this is a pretty unique situation where voters soured on someone they used to really like,&#8221; he said of Sinema. &#8220;A total brand trust collapse.&#8221;
&#8220;Maybe she pulls this off,&#8221; he concluded. &#8220;I mean, she hasn’t lost an election since she ran for state leg. as a Green Party candidate in 2002. And she is having a historic legislative session. And you can’t underestimate how smart Sinema is. But the reelection math folks! It doesn’t look good!&#8221;

Sinema, like West Virginia Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin, has often bucked her party’s Left-wing leadership, although both often fall in line after initial, headline-grabbing reluctance. She said in her column that both parties give too much credence to their extreme wings and are more interested in stymying one another’s agenda than working for those who elected them.

“Nothing will change about my values or my behavior,” she said.
Democrats control 51 seats in the Senate after Georgia’s Raphael Warnock defeated Republican challenger Herschel Walker in Tuesday’s runoff election. But switching to independent is a shot across the bow to the party’s leadership, which has at times struggled to keep more moderate members in line with an agenda that includes massive green energy spending and lax border security.
Sinema was stalked and harassed at Arizona State University in October of 2021 by pro-illegal immigration activists who followed her into a restroom while recording the confrontation.
“I promised I would never bend to party pressure, and I would stay focused on solving problems and getting things done for everyday Arizonans,” Sinema wrote. “My approach is rare in Washington and has upset partisans in both parties.”

The hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; apparently dislike Sen. <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/kyrsten-sinema/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kyrsten Sinema</a> (D-AZ) so much that at least Sunny Hostin is willing to rewrite history in order to attack her.
Cohosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin laid into the Arizona Democrat during Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast of the midday talk show, taking aim at her for daring to work across the aisle with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

&#8220;Is this the picture of bipartisan politics?&#8221; Goldberg asked, her face showing displeasure. &#8220;Do we need more of this or do both of their records kind of tell a different story?&#8221;
&#8220;She&#8217;s not popular in her own state,&#8221; Behar said of Sinema, adding, &#8220;Fifty-five percent of women find her &#8216;unfavorable.&#8217; Men don&#8217;t like her, white voters don&#8217;t like her, Hispanic voters don&#8217;t like her, voters 50 and over don&#8217;t like her, younger voters don&#8217;t like her — the only person who seems to like her is Mitch McConnell! And Mitch McConnell likes her because she works with him to obstruct the Democrats.&#8221;
Behar went on to claim that if Republicans were to win control of the Senate in 2022, McConnell would lead them to &#8220;overthrow the filibuster&#8221; — despite the fact that, as new Republican cohost <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/new-republican-host-of-the-view-admits-she-might-consider-voting-for-a-democrat/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alyssa Farah Griffin</a> pointed out, he hadn&#8217;t done so when he had the power in the past.
&#8220;Trump pushed him to a bunch of times,&#8221; Griffin objected. &#8220;He would tweet out, &#8216;you need to nuke the filibuster&#8217; and [McConnell] didn&#8217;t.&#8221;
It was Hostin who attempted to rewrite history, however, claiming that it was Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) who got recent <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/biden-signs-most-expansive-gun-control-bill-in-decades-into-law-following-republican-support/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gun control legislation</a> across the finish line rather than Sinema because of her willingness to work across the aisle and get Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) on board.

Cohost Sara Haines attempted to defend Sinema, noting that she had worked with Cornyn to get something done after no real movement on gun control in three decades.
Hostin dismissed the facts outright, claiming that Murphy had been the one to get it done even though he had been working on the issue since the 2012 shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, with little to show for it before Sinema convinced Cornyn to join them.
&#8220;I really think it&#8217;s a bridge too far to say that Sinema saved our gun legislation,&#8221; she insisted.
Griffin and Haines both pushed back, noting that the bill would have stalled without the Republican support that Sinema had been able to deliver when Murphy could not.
