Apparently, one of the most powerful leftist charities in the world has been donating money to groups like the Ku Klux Klan.
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a left-wing agitprop organization that raises roughly $100 million every year, has been handing money to white supremacists.
Why in the world would they do that? What the hell is going on?
Let&#8217;s begin with this premise. The demand for white supremacy on the Left outstrips the supply.
What do I mean by this?
I mean that people on the Left think, broadly speaking, that Americans are horrible racists. Then they look around at the world, and it turns out that Americans are some of the least racist people in history.

Americans basically rank dead last in racism on the planet right now. If you go to any other country on planet Earth, you will notice significantly more racism than there is in the United States.
If you go to Japan, there’s a fair bit of racism, as in South Korea, as in India.
But when you come to the United States, the polls suggest that the vast majority of Americans are fine with living next to people of different races and fine with intermarrying with people of other races. We have very high rates of ethnic intermarriage in America. We are an extraordinarily tolerant and diverse people.
But for the Left to make its play for a communitarian, centralized government, they have to constantly suggest that the government must be there to ram decency and goodness down the throats of those evil racists.
And the only way that you can sell that proposition is to create a false supply of racism, which brings us to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is one of the most powerful left-wing groups in America. It&#8217;s a supposedly civil rights nonprofit originally founded in 1971, in Montgomery, Alabama. It built a reputation on using litigation and “research” — pretty shoddy “research” — to combat what they have called white supremacists and other domestic extremist groups while advocating for marginalized communities as their stated purpose. Over time, that turned into monitoring so-called extremist movements. They published a <a href="https://www.splcenter.org/resources/extremist-files/">hate group list</a>, a <a href="https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map/">hate map</a>, and they pushed programs on bias and intolerance.
This was used to mainline their intel into everything from media to education to law enforcement. The FBI, up until October 2025, was using inputs from the SPLC to determine the kinds of people to monitor.
Even in the private sector, SPLC data was being used. Amazon, under Jeff Bezos, said that it used SPLC data to decide whom to exclude from its Amazon Smile charity programs.
How prominent has the SPLC been? Since 2010, a search of The New York Times pulls up 711 instances where the SPLC is cited as an authority on hate or discrimination statistics.
They are the go-to. The New York Times sees a Jussie Smollett story, and they call up somebody from the SPLC to talk about it. There&#8217;s a Nick Fuentes story; they call the SPLC to talk about it. There&#8217;s a Charlie Kirk story, and they call the SPLC to talk about it. 
The New York Times repeatedly quoted the SPLC data in its coverage of the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where the media routinely claimed that President Trump said there were &#8220;fine people on both sides,” which was not what he actually said. They lied about that, but the “Unite the Right” rally has been the calling card for entire swaths of the Left for a very, very long time. The New York Times even quoted the SPLC leadership to provide historical context for the rise of the alt-right.
In fact, a Google Gemini search of The New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today shows that 20 to 25% of all analytical pieces on the “Unite the Right” rally referenced data or quoted directly from the SPLC.
Why is this relevant? 
It turns out that the SPLC provided some of the funding for the “Unite the Right” rally. Yesterday, the acting attorney general, Todd Blanch, announced criminal charges for the Southern Poverty Law Center. 
He said:
<blockquote>Today, a few minutes ago, in the Middle District of Alabama, a grand jury returned an 11 count indictment charging the Southern Poverty Law Center with six counts of wire fraud, four counts of bank fraud, and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. According to the charges in the indictment, the SPLC is a nonprofit entity that purports to fight white supremacy and racial hatred by reporting on extremist groups and conducting research to inform law enforcement groups with the goal of dismantling these groups. As the indictment describes, the SPLC was not dismantling these groups. It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred.</blockquote>
The DOJ is saying that the Southern Poverty Law Center was basically paying all sorts of white supremacists and extremists to generate more white supremacy so that they could continue fundraising.
Here&#8217;s what’s true virtually everywhere in the nonprofit world — they exist, theoretically, to solve problems. You give money to a nonprofit to solve a problem. If the problem goes away, you no longer give to that nonprofit.
Let&#8217;s say that you are the leader of a nonprofit or your leadership class of a nonprofit, and it turns out the thing you&#8217;re trying to solve has been pretty much solved in the United States — such as the “racism of the American population.”
When you launched in 1971, racism was a very, very real and ever-present part of American life. But today, racism is not even a blip on most Americans’ radar.
But you&#8217;re the Southern Poverty Law Center, and you need to raise some money.
So what do you do? You create a fake supply of white supremacy so you can go back to your donors and say, “The problem is worse than ever.”
The Southern Poverty Law Center is accused of using donor money to pay actual white supremacists.
It&#8217;s totally insane.
According to the <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/federal-grand-jury-charges-southern-poverty-law-center-wire-fraud-false-statements-and">press release</a> from the Justice Department, “Between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC secretly funneled more than $3 million and donated funds to individuals were associated with various violent extremist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, National Socialist Party of America, the American Nazi Party, and Unite the Right.”
Unite the Right happens to be one that leaps off the page because the SPLC and the Left made bank off the “Unite the Right” rally for years and years and years. It was the key example they used over and over and over again to prove that the Right happened to be racist, even though the Right did not associate with the “Unite the Right” rally.
Blanche said on the Laura Ingraham Show on Tuesday that the Biden administration opened the investigation and then closed the investigation.
I wonder why.
“How did they get away with this for so long?” Ingraham asked.
“It&#8217;s a great question. I said today during the press conference that we know that this investigation was opened during the Biden administration and then mysteriously closed,” Blanche answered. “I really don&#8217;t have any information about why it was closed. And then we started again last year, the FBI did, working with the U.S. attorney in Alabama. And it&#8217;s extraordinarily egregious. You just talked about it. But imagine a donor to the SPLC, if they were told, ‘By the way, we&#8217;re going to give the money you&#8217;re giving us to the Ku Klux Klan &#8230; in some cases over $1 million.’ I mean, it&#8217;s incredible.”
We should remember the SPLC’s game was to label anyone remotely conservative an extremist.
This is the game. It does lend itself to the idea that much of what we consume in the media, on social media, and in politics is just not true. As for the “hatred” that a lot of Americans feel for other Americans, a lot of it is ginned up by groups like the SPLC.
The fakery here is quite real, and people make money off of it because the algorithm favors it. The algorithm favors amygdala-friendly responses.
The amygdala is the emotional center of your brain. It’s what responds to fear signals. The prefrontal cortex is the reasoning center of your brain, which says that the fear is not what you should be worried about. It&#8217;s not real.
The internet and virality are designed to appeal to your amygdala.
Thus, if you&#8217;re the SPLC, you say, “White supremacy is a threat to you and your family; it&#8217;s virulent, it&#8217;s violent, and it&#8217;s racist.” The whole pitch goes directly to the amygdala, because at no point does the prefrontal cortex kick in and say, “Wait, hold on, I know none of my neighbors are racist. They don&#8217;t like racism. They think it&#8217;s bad.”
But because the amygdala has kicked in, you now think worse of your neighbors, even though you have never really thought about the issue using the reasoning part of your brain.
The same is true in the algorithmic space online. There are a lot of accounts that go extremely viral because they use extraordinarily charged language, which tends to feature second-person pronouns. If I speak directly to you, the minute I say “you,” it&#8217;s probably firing up the centers in your brain that are more emotionally resonant. If I use words like “evil” or “wicked” or “soulless,” those are words that are much more likely to fire up the emotional centers of your brain than to appeal to your prefrontal cortex.
It&#8217;s a shortcut for politicians and influencers — and for groups like the SPLC. 
The more that you can use emotionally charged language that is second-person directed, the better you will do.
That&#8217;s why we all seem to be living in a world that is totally different from reality these days. The more time you spend online, the more you see this sort of stuff that is routinely retweeted and reposted, and is always deeply emotionally charged stuff.
That shtick is the entire game. And that&#8217;s why you feel alienated.
It&#8217;s why I&#8217;ve said a thousand times, and I will say it a thousand times more, that you ought to talk to your neighbors in person, because when you talk with your neighbors, your prefrontal cortex will kick in as opposed to your fear center in the amygdala.
And you might learn that the neighbor with whom you disagree about tax rates actually is not a racist.

Michigan Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib lashed out multiple times during President Donald Trump&#8217;s State of the Union address on Tuesday night, including in a moment when she appeared to shout &#8220;KKK&#8221; while most of the chamber was chanting &#8220;USA.&#8221; The camera caught the Michigan congresswoman on screen during the exchange.

Republicans blasted Tlaib over the clip, with the National Republican Congressional Committee <a href="https://x.com/NRCC/status/2026505894771519709">stating</a>, &#8220;Everything you need to know about today&#8217;s Democrats. They cannot stand this country, they cannot stand its comeback, &amp; they cannot hide their contempt anymore.&#8221;
The Daily Wire reached out to Tlaib&#8217;s office for comment.
Tlaib, a Muslim whose district includes the highly-populated Muslim city of Dearborn, Michigan, wore a pin to the State of the Union that read &#8220;F*CK ICE.&#8221; She also wore a pair of watermelon earrings that apparently signify her solidarity with the &#8220;Palestinian cause&#8221; and another pin that read &#8220;Stand with survivors, release the Epstein Files.&#8221;
The Michigan congresswoman stood up alongside Minnesota leftist Rep. Ilhan Omar on other occasions during the speech to shout and wave fingers at Trump. Neither Omar nor Tlaib, however, stood when Trump asked members of Congress to get on their feet if they supported prioritizing Americans over illegal immigrants. They also did not stand when Trump highlighted the dozens of Israeli hostages who were rescued from Hamas captivity.
Tlaib mostly ignored the instructions from Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who urged Democrats to remain quiet or skip the State of the Union altogether.
“The two options that are in front of us in our House [are] to either attend with silent defiance or to not attend and send a message to Donald Trump in that fashion, which will include participation in a variety of different alternate programming that is going to take place in and around the Capitol complex,” Jeffries <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5748563-democrats-state-of-the-union-protests/">said</a> last week.
Dozens of Democrats boycotted the State of the Union and attended the &#8220;alternate programming&#8221; events, which were similar to political rallies where Democrats largely focused on bashing Trump&#8217;s immigration policies and tariffs. Tlaib and Omar opted to attend Trump&#8217;s speech and make a scene.
Texas Democrat Al Green made a similar decision and was booted from the chamber after holding up a large sign that read, &#8220;Black people aren&#8217;t apes,&#8221; a reference to a video that was shared by President Trump on Truth Social that briefly depicted former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama as gorillas. It was the second year in a row that Green was escorted out of the chamber during Trump&#8217;s speech to Congress.
During his address, Trump ripped Democrats multiple times, including calling them &#8220;crazy&#8221; for refusing to stand in support of protecting children from life-altering gender procedures.
“Who can believe that we&#8217;re even speaking about things like this?” Trump asked. “But surely we can all agree no state can be allowed to rip children from their parents&#8217; arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents, well, who would believe that were even talking about? We must ban it, and we must ban it immediately.”

Even liberal outlets like CNN appear to be struggling to accept some of the wild claims made by Governor Wes Moore (D-MD), widely considered a potential 2028 Democratic presidential contender even as he has denied plans to run.
CNN anchor Kasie Hunt put Moore on the spot during a recent interview, citing a <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/wes-moore-says-the-kkk-chased-his-great-grandfather-out-of-south-carolina-historical-records-tell-a-different-story/">recent report</a> from The Washington Free Beacon that questioned the veracity of some of his claims — in particular, his assertion that his great-grandfather had been &#8220;exiled&#8221; to Jamaica by the Ku Klux Klan.

&#8220;You say you are who you are,&#8221; Hunt began, adding, &#8220;The Free Beacon recently wrote about a story that you often tell about your great-grandfather and your family, and how and why they left the United States. They say that the story is — they report — they look at church records, they say the story is not true, that the Ku Klux Klan did not force your family to leave, your family left voluntarily.&#8221;
&#8220;Now, you of course have said — and your spokesperson said — &#8216;Anyone who wants to question whether terror and intimidation were pervasive in that era should open a history book. Reach out to the KKK and ask what they were up to in South Carolina in the 1920s,&#8221;&#8221; Hunt continued, repeating Moore&#8217;s vague statement on the matter. &#8220;Fair enough. I think my question to you is, is there any truth to what The Free Beacon has written here?&#8221;
Instead of addressing the point head-on, Moore chose to smear the outlet: &#8220;There is no truth to what a right-wing blog writes about me. No. There is not. Because I know my family&#8217;s history.&#8221;
Moore then doubled down on his claim, saying that his grandfather had only been a toddler when the family, living in South Carolina at the time, had been &#8220;run out by the Ku Klux Klan.&#8221;
Moore went on to speak about how his family had then returned to the United States years later — and once again suggested that anyone who questioned his version of events should ask the KKK for confirmation.  But Hunt did not appear entirely convinced.
&#8220;And those church records that show that one of your family members left voluntarily to take over for someone who had passed away, those records are wrong?&#8221; she asked.
&#8220;They should really ask the Ku Klux Klan about what their activities were during the 1920s,&#8221; he said again.
The story Moore so often repeats is that his maternal great-grandfather, Rev. Josiah Johnson Thomas, had been preaching sermons against racism in their hometown of Pineville, South Carolina, and had thus angered the local KKK. In an effort to avoid a certain lynching, Thomas escaped with his family in secret to Jamaica. His young son, Moore&#8217;s maternal grandfather, vowed the family would return one day — and they did.
But the <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/wes-moore-says-the-kkk-chased-his-great-grandfather-out-of-south-carolina-historical-records-tell-a-different-story/">records cited</a> by reporter Andrew Kerr at The Free Beacon showed that Thomas had publicly accepted a transfer to a church in Jamaica — where he himself hailed from — when the pastor there had passed away unexpectedly.
In addition, neither church records nor local reporting at the time mentions any conflicts between Thomas and members of the KKK, and Virginia Commonwealth University&#8217;s map showing the reach of the Ku Klux Klan at that time does not indicate there was ever a chapter operating in Pineville.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) claimed that black voters, even if their values leaned in a conservative direction, could not bring themselves to associate with Republicans because they &#8220;can&#8217;t hang out with the KKK.&#8221;

It&#8217;s not the first time that Crockett has attempted to tie Republicans to the white supremacy of the Ku Klux Klan, despite the group being founded by southern Democrats in 1865 to resist Republicans. In early May, she claimed that Republicans were predisposed to violence.

Bath &amp; Body Works, which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/massive-personal-care-retail-company-puts-dei-at-the-heart-of-everything-it-does" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims</a> to put diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) “at the heart of everything” it does, apparently focused too much on DEI and not enough on quality assurance during a recent project. 
The massive personal care retail company got slammed on social media after releasing a candle that had a design eerily similar to Klu Klux Klan hoods. Bath &amp; Body Works’ “Snowed In” candle featured a snowflake design, but many people said the snowflake resembled the hoods of the infamous hate group.

&#8220;At Bath &amp; Body Works, we are committed to listening to our teams and customers, and committed to fixing any mistakes we make—even those that are unintentional like this one,&#8221; the company said in an emailed <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/bath-body-works-apologizes-candle-kkk-hood-rcna175067" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> to NBC News and other outlets. &#8220;We apologize to anyone we’ve offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and are evaluating our process going forward.&#8221;
Despite all the focus on DEI and its “<a href="https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/m/our-fight-against-racism-and-inequality.html?srsltid=AfmBOoot3krsfxARTbORCRhzeMOkoXM06nvCLLVqbSmEMvUp4jR-mfQP" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commitment</a>” to “fighting for social justice,” Bath &amp; Body Works still found a way to offend people. Maybe dedicating more time to delivering a quality product would have saved them from this embarrassment, but woke companies will be woke companies.

ABC News host Linsey Davis, who is set to co-moderate the network&#8217;s presidential debate in Pennsylvania next month, appeared to suggest Monday night that the former president was headed to a small town in Michigan because of the Ku Klux Klan.
Davis made the smear against Trump while speaking to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer at the Democratic National Convention.
&#8220;As you know, former President Donald Trump is expected to go campaign in Howell, Michigan, tomorrow,&#8221; Davis said. &#8220;Many people are aware that a month ago, in Howell, KKK protesters marched in the streets with the white robes on and suggested that they support Donald Trump.&#8221;

&#8220;I’m curious if you make anything about that connection and him going in particular to Howell tomorrow,&#8221; Davis continued.
The fact that Davis tried to suggest a connection between Trump and the KKK because he is visiting a town where a dozen fringe activists held a protest weeks ago highlights concerns that Trump had about having a debate on ABC News, given the network&#8217;s apparent bias against him.
ABC News announced last week that Davis would co-moderate the network&#8217;s presidential debate in Pennsylvania next month with network colleague David Muir.
Howell has a population of more than 10,000 people and it&#8217;s located in a swing state that will play a critical role in determining who wins the White House.
Davis&#8217; suggestion that Trump somehow had a &#8220;connection&#8221; to the KKK comes after someone shot Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania last month. Trump narrowly escaped with his life as he turned his head moments before the gunman opened fire and a bullet pierced his ear.

The march in the town last month garnered very little media attention. There were approximately a dozen protesters who participated.

Images of the protesters did not show anyone wearing &#8220;white robes,&#8221; as Davis claimed. Some of their clothes appeared to have symbols that were associated with white supremacists.
The protesters completely covered their faces, so there was no way of knowing who they were as they held signs that said things like &#8220;White Lives Matter,&#8221; &#8220;End The War On White Children,&#8221; and &#8220;Fight Against White Replacement.&#8221;
Local media said that they chanted &#8220;Heil Hitler&#8221; and that they expressed support for Trump.
The ABC debate is currently the only one Harris has accepted.

Following the October 7 massacre of Israeli civilians by Hamas, college campuses and streets of major US cities have been filled with rioters chanting anti-Israel slogans and often explicitly demonstrating their fealty to Hamas. As is clear from numerous photographs, most of these protestors conceal their faces.
This is true even of less violent protests. One example is the 100-plus congressional staffers who <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4300664-congressional-staffers-hold-vigil-ceasefire-capitol/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">staged a walkout</a> on Capitol Hill, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Photos show that nearly all the staffers were wearing medical face masks. Presumably, when defying the will of your boss, and the people who elected him or her, it’s best to remain anonymous. And the cowardice extends beyond Capitol Hill.

Daily Signal Reporter Mary Margaret Olohan was given a <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/tag/masks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">face mask</a> and told to wear one by the pro-Palestine participants so “they” wouldn’t identify her later in pictures.” It’s unclear who “they” is and even more unclear what the result would be of being identified, but the fact remains that pro-Palestine protesters hide behind masks.

But when looking at the history of mask bans, crime, and even France’s so-called “burqa ban,” it begins to make sense.
In response to the COVID-19 virus, many cities <a href="https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/articles/these-are-the-states-with-mask-mandates">required</a> that individuals cover their faces when in a building or in close proximity to other people. People disagreed over the effectiveness of this strategy, but even if these measures were justified, most people are now delighted to go back to semi-normal, maskless life. That is, except, for those protesting in favor of Hamas, a US State Department <a href="https://www.state.gov/foreign-terrorist-organizations/">designated terror group</a>. To understand, it helps to look at the history of masking and its connection to crime.
In 2019 the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) published “America&#8217;s Mask Bans in the Age of Face Recognition Surveillance” denouncing mask bans. Mask bans in the United States <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/05/us/mask-mandate-kkk-coronavirus-pandemic.html">date</a> back to New York in 1845 when they were enacted to quell violence between renters and landlords. Later, mask bans were <a href="https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/intelligence-report/1999/unmasking-klan">enacted</a> in states Florida, Alabama, West Virginia, and some other southern states in an attempt to stymie the Ku Klux Klan and make it easier for police and civilians to identify Klan members and their supporters.  Most of these mask mandates, <a href="https://firstamendment.mtsu.edu/article/anti-mask-laws/">according</a> to Middle Tennessee State University’s Free Speech Center, “…use neutral language, typically banning mask wearing that intimidates others.” The key is that these bans were enacted to deter criminal activity and stop giving criminals the legal right to hide their identity when terrorizing blacks and Catholics.
The ACLU report, however, asserts that the actual reason for mask bans was that political leaders “felt that violent racist terrorism was making them look bad.” The report goes on to say that mask bans are an invasion of privacy, especially in our modern era of facial-recognition software and smartphones. In other words, in 2019, before the COVID lockdowns and mask mandates, the ACLU had an ax to grind against mask bans because mask bans help police catch criminals.
But anti-mask-ban rhetoric goes beyond the complaints that people might get caught committing crimes. Some alleged that mask bans, much like <a href="https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/modern-mathematics-confronts-its-white-patriarchal-past/">math</a> and <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2015/11/03/454316172/why-the-history-of-american-white-bread-is-anything-but-bland">sandwich bread</a>, are racist.
A June 2023 article in The Trace <a href="https://www.thetrace.org/newsletter/ski-mask-ban-racism-policing-fashion/">states</a>, “Philadelphia is considering a ban on ski masks to reduce gun violence. It’s reminiscent of other policies that criminalize Black fashion.” Given that a <a href="https://www.heart.org/en/news/2023/01/17/black-people-rarely-hit-the-ski-slopes-but-those-who-love-winter-sports-are-working-to-change-that#:~:text=It's%20true%20that%20Black%20skiers,changed%20over%20the%20past%20decade.">mere 1.5%</a> of those hitting the slopes in 2021-2022 were Black, this is a strange way to characterize the ski mask. The article ignores the fact that the original purpose of mask bans was to ensure that Klan members could not hide from the law.
To be clear, not all criminals wear masks, and not all masked people are criminals. But the point stands that wearing a mask while protesting in support of vile ideas or while committing a crime serves no purpose other than hiding one’s identity to avoid accountability.
In 2020, mask mandates were au courant, and rioters at “<a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/media/513902-cnn-ridiculed-for-fiery-but-mostly-peaceful-caption-with-video-of-burning/">Fiery But Mostly Peaceful</a>” protests <a href="https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/health/after-months-of-pleading-for-coronavirus-social-distancing-health-officials-supportive-of-protests-black-lives-matter-calls-them-too-dangerous/">hid</a> their faces as they rioted, <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/06/why-people-loot/612577/">looted</a>, and <a href="https://minnesotareformer.com/2021/05/27/one-year-later-few-charges-for-the-arson-and-destruction/">burned</a> down buildings. And the cowardice continues today with protestors in Western cities <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2023/10/13/israel-palestinian-colleges-hamas-rallies/">screaming</a> “from the river to the sea” (a chant meaning that from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River, Israel should not exist) and physically assaulting Jews. Thanks to COVID-19 popularizing face masks, protesters today hide their faces, thereby making it difficult to identify and prosecute them, as they scream antisemitic slurs that would make a Grand Wizard blush (if you could see his face). And that is the point: pro-Hamas protestors wear masks to avoid accountability.
Not only is hiding one’s face bad for identifying criminals, it is also bad for civil society. Lawmakers in my home, France, agree.
<a href="https://www.iwf.org/2010/09/15/french-burqa-ban-passes-upper-house/">Since 2010</a> France has <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-66634890">banned</a> wearing full face veils, including the <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/24118241">niqab and burqa</a>, in public—a measure misleadingly referred to as the “burqa ban.” The law applies equally to people of all religions, ethnicities, and nationalities who wish to cover their face in a public or government building, and it remains perfectly legal to wear a <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/24118241">hijab or shayla</a> in public, as many Muslim women in France do. France banned face-coverings because lawmakers believed that they impeded “vivre ensemble,” or citizens’ ability to peacefully coexist and participate fully in French society. And the notion that face covering impedes a healthy society is grounded in solid research.
Researchers at UC Berkeley and Google <a href="https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/are_facial_expressions_the_same_around_the_world">compared</a> facial expressions across 144 countries and discovered that “people around the world tended to gaze in awe during fireworks displays, show contentment at weddings, furrow their brows in concentration when performing martial arts, show doubt at protests, pain when lifting weights, and triumph at rock concerts and competitive sporting events.” The data are clear—human beings from a tender age communicate with our faces just as much as our words. <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3997585/">According</a> to a National Institute of Health (NIH) study, “Even newborns show clear evidence of organized facial expressions defining distinct communicative states that respond to maternal care.”  Facial coverings stymie communication and interpreting emotions—two things that drive human interaction.
Emmanuel Levinas, a French philosopher, once <a href="https://wisela.org/daily-kavanah-wednesday-june-10/">wrote</a>, “The face speaks to me and thereby invites me to a relation; … the face opens the primordial discourse whose first word is obligation.” To put this in context, much of Levinas’s philosophy is rooted in what it means to encounter, or relate to other people. Seeing another person’s face calls upon us to be responsible to one another as human beings. It stands to reason that hiding one’s face is an attempt to abdicate one’s responsibility to others and to society.
The Klan used masks to terrorize innocent people in the 1920s, as pro-Palestinian and BLM activists do today. Of course, people should be allowed to demonstrate in favor of unpopular or even contemptible ideas without fear of reprisal. But they shouldn’t be allowed to engage in criminal behavior—or to mask themselves to get away with it. It shouldn’t be too much to ask that they have the courage to stand up, unmasked for what they believe in. And like everyone else, they must face responsibility for their actions.

Comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bill-maher" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bill Maher</a> slammed the beliefs of woke people while speaking to Joe Rogan during a recent interview, saying that the way they see the world is similar to the views of the Ku Klux Klan.
Maher made the remarks during an episode of &#8220;The Joe Experience&#8221; while discussing the differences between woke people and liberals.
&#8220;You’re like liberals back when they were more reasonable before they became leftists. And now every liberal kind of has to be a leftist,&#8221; Rogan said. &#8220;If you want to be on the team, you’ve got to subscribe to the most fringe ideas that the team is promoting.&#8221;
Maher responded, &#8220;I&#8217;m always trying to make the case that liberal is a different animal than woke, because it is, and you can be woke with all the nonsense that that now implies.&#8221;
&#8220;But don&#8217;t say that somehow it&#8217;s an extension of liberalism because it&#8217;s most often actually an undoing of liberalism,&#8221; Maher responded. &#8220;And so you can have your points of view and your positions on these things. But don&#8217;t try to piggyback on what I&#8217;ve always believed. I have always believed, as liberals do, for example, in a colorblind society, that the goal is to not see race at all, anywhere, for any reason. That&#8217;s what liberals always believed all the way through Obama, going back Kennedy, everybody, Martin Luther King.&#8221;
&#8220;That&#8217;s not what the woke believe, they believe race is first and foremost, the thing you should always see everywhere, which I find interesting because that used to be the position of the Ku Klux Klan — that we see race first and foremost, everywhere,&#8221; he added. &#8220;So again, you can have that position. But don&#8217;t say that&#8217;s a liberal position. You&#8217;re doing something very different.&#8221;

Pop culture and fashion magazine Vanity Fair raised eyebrows with a Tuesday headline comparing Twitter owner Elon Musk with former KKK Grand Wizard <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-kkk-grand-wizard-david-duke-omar-most-ryan-saavedra" target="_blank" rel="noopener">David Duke</a> – all in an effort to undermine Florida Republican Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sunny-hostin-trashes-desantis-over-marine-vet-fundraiser-2-million-for-killing-a-young-black-man" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron DeSantis</a> ahead of his 2024 presidential bid.
&#8220;Report: Ron DeSantis Will Formally Announce His 2024 Bid With Elon Musk, Because Apparently David Duke Wasn’t Available,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/05/ron-desantis-elon-musk-2024-announcement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inflammatory headline</a> splashed across the page in bold type read, followed by the subhead, &#8220;Launching with the Twitter owner is certainly a choice.&#8221;
The article, written by Bess Levin, continued in that same vein right from the beginning: &#8220;He is said to be planning to formally jump into the 2024 race during a conversation on Twitter with Elon Musk, because apparently other neo-Nazi sympathizers weren’t available.&#8221;
Levin went on to further attack Musk, alleging that his attempts to make Twitter a haven for &#8220;free speech&#8221; have given cover to a rise in white supremacy instead. Referencing ousted Fox News host Tucker Carlson&#8217;s plan to reinvent his own show on the platform – despite Musk&#8217;s statement that he had not made any deal with Carlson – she asserted that Musk was actively giving a home to &#8220;hate speech.&#8221;
She then pivoted to DeSantis, suggesting that Musk&#8217;s alleged alignment with the &#8220;far right&#8221; might be attractive to the Florida governor – and lest her audience misses the implied message throughout, she concluded with the outright statement: &#8220;Anyway, just as a reminder, a DeSantis presidency is as terrible a prospect as a Trump one.&#8221;
Musk&#8217;s friend David Sacks, who is set to moderate the discussion between the billionaire entrepreneur and imminent presidential candidate, shared a screenshot of the headline along with the comment, &#8220;The media has lost its mind.&#8221;

Former National Security Council staffer Joshua Steinman noted that the left-leaning media coverage of DeSantis was no less dishonest when attacking DeSantis than it had been in attacking former President Donald Trump.
&#8220;This was what it was like for four years working for President Trump. No good deed went un-spun by the Washington Press Corps. No matter what we did. We could have brought peace to the Middle East* and they would have called us traitors**,&#8221; he <a href="https://twitter.com/JoshuaSteinman/status/1661256732633608197" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, adding, &#8220;*We did this, **And they did this.&#8221;

And while a number of others responded to the headline in the same way, others pointed out the fact that the more unhinged the left-leaning media became, the more average Americans would gravitate toward messages that reflected sanity.
&#8220;DeSantis and his team very, very much appreciate these headlines and would like as many more as you are capable of offering during the primary, MSM,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/EsotericCD/status/1661334246571532288" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one noted</a>.
&#8220;Elon Musk is a 70-30 or an 80-20 issue in America. He might be really unpopular among the handful of people who are just now signing up for Mastodon accounts, but for the rest of the country he’s still the guy who builds rockets and futuristic cars and has fun with Joe Rogan,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/michaelbd/status/1661325168805806082" target="_blank" rel="noopener">another added</a>.

Do you know what we haven&#8217;t had in a while? Race riots. 
Don&#8217;t worry, though, because <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/the-greatest-lie-ever-sold" target="_blank" rel="noopener">George Floyd, 2.0</a> is potentially coming to Memphis, Tennessee.
At least, that&#8217;s what it seems like after listening to Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis break down the death of Tyre Nichols. 
Nichols was involved in a traffic stop on January 7. He died three days later on January 10. As a result, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/5-former-memphis-police-officers-charged-in-mans-death-city-braces-for-possible-riots">five Memphis police officers</a> have been fired and charged with second-degree murder. 
Video footage of the incident hasn&#8217;t been released yet, but authorities are letting people know it&#8217;s a real doozy. It will reportedly be published Friday night.
&#8220;I expect you to feel outraged in the disregard of basic human rights as our police officers have taken an oath to do the opposite of what transpired on the video,&#8221; she explained in the video below. &#8220;I expect our citizens to exercise their First Amendment right to protest, to demand action and results. But we need to ensure our community is safe in this process. None of this is a calling card for inciting violence or destruction in our community or against our citizens.&#8221;

So that&#8217;s the setup. She&#8217;s saying she expects you to feel “outraged” — which could be taken as a message that it’s okay for you to do whatever you want in protest. She did add a minor note at the end about safety and how violence won&#8217;t be tolerated, but that part was really glossed over. 
Worse, she is essentially saying this video is worse than you could ever imagine, conjuring all sorts of images for listeners. 
Of course, the Memphis police chief could have attempted to assuage concerns by giving you facts about the case. 
She didn&#8217;t, so I will.
Per <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/tyre-nichols-video-police-chief-warns-memphis-violently-body-cam-footage-release">Fox News</a>, &#8220;Nichols was pulled over on Jan. 7 around 8:30 p.m. for &#8216;reckless driving’ near Raines Road and Ross Road in Memphis. A &#8216;confrontation occurred&#8217; during the stop, which resulted in police chasing Nichols on foot, police said. He was later apprehended.&#8221;
“While attempting to take the suspect into custody, another confrontation occurred; however, the suspect was ultimately apprehended,” Memphis Police Department said. “Afterward the suspect complained of having shortness of breath, at which point an ambulance was called to the scene.&#8221;
Then, he was taken to a nearby hospital where he passed away three days later.
Now, based on that alone, a reasonable response would be, &#8216;I don&#8217;t know what that footage is going to show, but I think that we can already discern that had he complied with the police officers, and did not start running, thus causing a foot chase, and causing two separate confrontations with police then — perhaps he would be alive.&#8217;
Instead, though, citizens of Memphis and America are left feeling they should be infuriated before even seeing the video.
It should be noted that nowhere in that video did Davis show support for the police. She didn&#8217;t mention how things allegedly escalated because of Nichols&#8217; own actions, according to the report. 
So, in effect, she has now created a potentially very dangerous situation in Memphis. As with George Floyd, it&#8217;s highly possible violence will break out across the country like we saw in 2020 thanks to the BLM rioters.
Worse — we haven&#8217;t even seen the video yet.
What Davis did was irresponsible. It seems she didn&#8217;t want people to have the facts, she wanted people to have heightened emotions.
Ready your engines, people, because it could get very ugly in Memphis starting Friday night.

On Monday, &#8220;The View&#8221; hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar compared the Trump supporters who followed a Biden campaign bus in Texas to murderous Ku Klux Klan members of the past.

Goldberg started her descent into vitriol by referring to ‘Truckloads of You-Know-Who’s supporters,” then segued to the Texas supporters surrounding the bus, preaching, “I’m here to let you know that that is one of the most dangerous things you can do because buses can’t stop on a dime.”

“Thank God this person saw and slowed in order to let you do what you did which looked a lot like a scene out of “Mississippi Burning,” Goldberg continued.“You know, when trucks, or when trucks and cars surrounded people who are trying to drive. It was really freaky to see.”

After playing a clip of Trump speaking about the incident, she went on, “With what I’ve been seeing, his supporters have given me a flashback, as I said — (At this point the screen showed a picture of the three young civil rights activists who were murdered in 1964) — and when they talk about, oh, we think there’s going to be some issues happening, who do they think is going to start this? I haven’t seen any Biden flags trapping anybody; I haven’t seen any of that. Am I crazy, you guys? When you saw this caravan, did it remind you of a 50’s thing as well?&#8221;

Behar launched into her diatribe: &#8220;Yes. That was very reminiscent of what you were talking about, &#8216;Mississippi Burning.&#8217; You don’t see Biden people doing that. Biden people, the protesters, are tear-gassed, as a matter of fact. And these agitators are crazed, and then made up stories about, that they were protecting the bus.&#8221;
