The World Economic Forum is investigating its founder and former chairman Klaus Schwab over whistleblower complaints of unethical conduct and misappropriating organization funds.
Schwab stepped down as chair and as a member of the board of trustees on Monday, just days after the board received an anonymous letter with allegations against Schwab and his wife, Hilde, according to <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/world-economic-forum-opens-new-probe-into-founder-klaus-schwab-e2f061d6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Wall Street Journal</a>. Schwab had announced earlier this month that he planned to resign as the non-executive chairman of WEF by January of next year amid an investigation into the WEF’s workplace culture.
The earlier probe into WEF’s workplace culture also implicated Schwab, but the WEF said that the allegations against him were not substantiated. Schwab and his wife have denied all allegations against them in both probes.
The letter stated that it is from current and former employees of the WEF.
“We feel compelled to share a comprehensive account of systemic governance failures and abuses of power that have taken place over many years under the unchecked authority of Klaus Schwab,” the letter says.
The letter included accusations against the Schwabs such as using WEF funds to pay for massages, setting “token” meetings in ritzy spots around the world to justify the use of WEF funds for vacations, and using WEF property as personal getaways.
The WEF board said it unanimously supported an investigation “following a whistleblower letter containing allegations against former Chairman Klaus Schwab. This decision was made after consultation with external legal counsel.”
The WEF takes “these allegations seriously, but they remain unproven, and will await the outcome of the investigation to comment further,” the board said.
Schwab, who denied a request to address the allegations to the board personally, said through a spokesman that he planned to file a lawsuit against whoever is responsible for the letter and “anybody who spreads these mistruths.”
Schwab announced his plans to eventually leave WEF earlier this month, but the letter expedited his departure from the organization he founded.
“Following my recent announcement, and as I enter my 88th year, I have decided to step down from the position of Chair and as a member of the Board of Trustees, with immediate effect,” Schwab said in a <a href="https://www.weforum.org/press/2025/04/world-economic-forum-announces-governance-transition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> on Monday.
Schwab’s departure comes amid an exodus of other top executives at the group as it <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/davos-founder-klaus-schwab-to-step-aside-as-forums-chair-0f3231b0?mod=article_inline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">grapples</a> with an investigation and accusations of a workplace culture that ignored discrimination against women and black people.

This week, amidst all of the domestic political hubbub here in the United States, the World Economic Forum (WEF) is happening over at Davos. Now, why exactly is the World Economic Forum important?
In 1971, there was an organization that was established by Klaus Schwab, who is a German engineer, economist, and professor with a James Bond villain accent. He created this organization so that heads of business in heads of state could discuss what he called “stakeholder capitalism.” Stakeholder capitalism was a theory he expressed that essentially suggested if you owned a company, you ought not answer to your shareholders; if you managed a company, you ought not answer to profit margin or shareholders.
Instead, you ought to answer to every stakeholder in the world — meaning governments. Meaning people who didn&#8217;t own stock in your company. Meaning everyone.
Now, you might ask yourself: Then to whom are you accountable? Because it turns out that the rando who doesn&#8217;t own shares in your company can actually fire you or sell your stock or change anything about the way you run your company.
The answer that Klaus Schwab would give is: You are answerable to no one. You, as the head of a company, should be like a king with his own little kingdom. You, as the head of a company, should be a lord, and the company should act as your fiefdom. And you can pretend that you&#8217;re acting in the name of the general will.
But what you truly are is some sort of prophet from on high brought to spread your values. And this was the basis of stakeholder capitalism.

This theory was promoted via what was called the European Management Symposium. That&#8217;s what the WEF was originally called in 1971. By 1975, it had grown so quickly that 860 participants, including the CEOs and chairman of the largest European companies, started showing up. That same year, only four years after creation, the European Management Forum, the EMF, was now partnering with the United Nations.
According to the WEF website itself, “After just five years, the Forum had gained acceptance at the highest levels of business and government. While not advocating policy or strategy, the Forum had become a respected organization that served as a valuable platform for business, government, civil society and other stakeholders to confer and collaborate. Klaus Schwab’s stakeholder theory was beginning to evolve into a broader concept of corporate global citizenship.” 
In 1987, the European Management Forum changed its name from the EMF to the WEF. 
So what is the WEF today? The same thing, except bigger, much more prominent. 10,000 people show up at the WEF every year, but the people who are on stage, the people who are meeting in the back rooms, are all of the global influential people.
They are the heads of major corporations and the heads of government, and they all come to pat each other on the back and explore what they have in common. What they have in common is a very peculiar set of values you do not share with them, a set of values that suggest they are responsible for solving all of the world&#8217;s problems.
They should collude and decide what system prevails everywhere. They should collude and decide what information you are capable of seeing and understanding problems like the climate. They will get together, and they will restructure entire swathes of the global economy in order to fight back against climate change. 
This is what they do. Let&#8217;s face it, this is a weird group of people because the people at the top levels of power, particularly in the West, are a strange group of people. They are disproportionately secular. They are disproportionately of the political Left. These are people who do not have ties to traditional ways of life in traditional values.
They are also people who seem to have scorn for the culture that actually bore them and, instead, have embraced this peculiar notion of multiculturalism in which all cultures are created equal. And that leads to this really sort of paternalistic and odd look at the WEF, where people are walking in wearing $5,000 suits and $20,000 watches, and then they are paying homage to poor Native Americans or natives of Europe or whoever is showing up.
Yesterday at the WEF, for example, there was a bizarre spectacle of a native woman of some sort with her face painted, appearing before various company owners, heads of state, and top level bureaucrats.
These Bane knockoffs, except in corporate garb, have come up with all sorts of interesting and weird ways to restructure the global system in order to run it and control you.

There&#8217;s language people in the West love to use when they&#8217;re talking about controlling you: the language of war. The War on Poverty is about controlling income. It is about controlling redistribution of wealth. The war on climate change is similarly about controlling exactly how you live your life. These people are eager to use war language, because in a war, you get to take control of literally everyone, day and night.
But — there was one wonderful moment during the WEF. Javier Milei, who&#8217;s become my spirit animal, the President of Argentina, who is colorful and a wonderful economist rock star, an all around Wolfman, was speaking at the WEF. And he just laid into them, and it was wonderful. He stated:

In the latest episode of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/facts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facts</a>,” Daily Wire Editor Emeritus <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ben-shapiro" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ben Shapiro</a> explains the history behind the World Economic Forum and what Americans need to know about its power-hungry agenda. 
In the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/tbdeee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">episode</a>, released on Saturday ahead of the WEF’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, next week, Shapiro explained the history of the organization and how it evolved into the entity it is today. He said that the organization had little respect for representative democracy or liberty, but wanted to impose top-down control. 
“The World Economic Forum was first established in 1971, led by a German engineer, economist, and professor with a master&#8217;s from Harvard. His name was Klaus Schwab. Schwab was the originator of a theory of governance and markets he called stakeholder capitalism, defined in opposition to shareholder capitalism,” Shapiro said. 
Shareholder capitalism is when businesses primarily focus on returns to investors while stakeholder capitalism suggests that businesses should answer to the world at large. 
“This philosophy, of course, means that those who control corporations ought to act as philosopher kings, answerable to no one but their own perceptions of moral duty. Unsurprisingly, this particular argument is attractive to those who love the idea of top down command and control,” Shapiro said. 
In recent years, the WEF has pushed for a “Great Reset” of capitalism to transform industry in pursuit of the so-called fourth industrial revolution. This includes pushing the concepts of “social sustainability” and “environmental sustainability” onto global corporations. It’s a call to revolutionize the world and how it currently works, Shapiro explained.

“Almost certainly the new revolution will look like top down social engineering by the big brain, all in the name of smoothing out the bumps of technological change. Regulators will work hand-in-glove with big business to work out the rules for your life,” Shapiro explained.
He also said that pushing this global agenda of elite control conflicted with traditional Western concepts like liberty and representative democracy, which were disliked by the WEF.  
“If all of this sounds frightening, that&#8217;s because it is. The arrogance of the business and governmental elite seeking to control all of us is absolutely breathtaking. The policies discussed at Davos shape the elite caste in nearly all Western countries. When you hear about the end of carbon-based fossil fuels or a global tax regime or corporate governmental cooperation, a lot of that is coming from Davos and the World Economic Forum,” Shapiro concluded. “And when those globalists get together at Davos, understand the ideas they are discussing will have a real world effect on you, your business, your church, and your family.”

Throughout my career, it’s become increasingly difficult to follow all the various things I get accused of being. Depending on what hour of the day it is, I may either be in the Illuminati or a Satanist. I’ve been accused of being tied to George Soros, in cahoots with Klaus Schwab, and connected to the World Economic Forum. I can’t even keep up with it all myself. There are people in this world — people even on the conservative side — who believe this nonsense. The problem with this is far bigger than there being false rumors circulating about me. The real problem is, people’s minds have been so bent, they distrust everything and everyone, and this mentality is hurting our cause.
For the record, I do not like George Soros. I believe he is an incredibly evil man. I have dedicated hours to trying to expose the ways in which he is using his money to corrupt the West. I believe he has an allegiance to the East, and I have questions about his childhood. His media arm has done numerous hit pieces on me from the very first time I appeared on the scene and they continue to do so, attempting to get me cancelled. Despite all these efforts, some people still believe I am somehow tied to George Soros. I was tagged in a picture with one of my best friends whose last name is Schwab, and I was immediately connected to Klaus Schwab — because, obviously, every person on the planet who has the last name Schwab must be related to Klaus Schwab. And because I was connected to Klaus Schwab, I was also related to the World Economic Forum and then also connected to George Soros.
Being accused of having a connection to Soros via the World Economic Forum via Schwab via my friend is not the first weird allegation that’s been made about me. Once, when I was filming my show with a studio audience, I paused in thought, looking to my left and folding my hands.

Clearly, I’m not vaccinated. I am very passionately against vaccines. I have an entire series dedicated to showing people vaccines have always been a scam for children. So getting pizza without a vaccine? Challenge accepted. We got someone to get us a whole pizza, and I took a picture to brag about managing to pull that off. What is happening now is that people who are on our side are no longer able to even see straight. And I understand the distrust. We have been lied to over and over again. There are huge questions that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-medias-cover-up-of-barack-obamas-alleged-illicit-gay-affairs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have not been answered</a>. But when people are only promoting the worst evils for every single person, that is not helping our cause. It’s hurting it. As an example, I do not support Ron DeSantis being the next president of the United States. I think he is a great governor, but I also think he’s fake and has too much donor money. But what I say about him has nothing to do with whether I like him or not. Yet now, people seem to think if they don’t like someone, they’re being fraudulent so they need to smear them.
Vivek Ramaswamy is facing this right now because, years ago, a scholarship he was awarded to go to law school came from Soros. But context matters — if you care about the truth — and he has <a href="https://www.glennbeck.com/radio/vivek-ramaswamy-slams-3-lies-presidential-run" target="_blank" rel="noopener">explained this in great detail</a>. I applied for every single scholarship I could get my hands on. When my guidance counselor said scholarships would reduce costs, I applied, I wrote essays, and I had no idea where the scholarship money was coming from. My family couldn’t afford to put me through college, and I was trying to get money any way I could. Wise students try to get as much money as possible. It doesn’t make them fundamentally dishonest human beings who don’t deserve to be in the discourse of politics, as some have labeled Ramaswamy.
You don’t have to like Ramaswamy, Trump, DeSantis, or even me. But we all need to be meaningful and sincere in our critiques. Can we at least be honest? Can we be real? If I get attacked, people should at least know that a girl who came from absolutely nothing wouldn’t be in the Illuminati because the truth is, she just doesn’t know what to do with her hands when she’s thinking. People have moved from the red pill to the black pill and are no longer able to process reality whatsoever. They believe that everything and everyone is corrupt. Everything is a conspiracy theory. But we must be realistic.
The Left watches the media and believes it to be reality and can’t think on their own. In the same way we say the Left is demented because they believe absolutely everything, we have a small segment on the Right that is becoming equally as demented because they believe absolutely nothing. It’s opposite sides of the same coin.
The black pill is becoming dangerous. And we need to get real. Otherwise, we are just hurting our movement, our cause, and ourselves.

Shapiro explained in the Monday thread how the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/world-economic-forum" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Economic Forum</a> (WEF), the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), and NewsGuard were all working together to crack down on so-called “misinformation” and dictate what media is “safe” for advertising.

The WFA, which <a href="https://wfanet.org/knowledge/item/2017/01/30/Agency-Trading-Desks-still-dominate-programmatic-but-advertisers-are-demanding-a-new-more-transparent-relationship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">represents</a> 90% of “global marketing communications,” launched the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) in 2019. Soon after, the World Economic Forum <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ben-shapiro-takes-on-corporations-behind-censorship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">adopted</a> GARM as one of its “flagship” projects. 
“GARM is an unholy alliance between huge advertisers and social media companies like Google’s YouTube, China’s TikTok, Meta’s Facebook &amp; Instagram, and even Twitter/X and Snapchat. GARM developed something they call the ‘brand safety floor &amp; suitability framework,’” Shapiro explained. 
The Daily Wire co-founder said the framework might be fine if it stuck to things like blocking child pornography, but it also included cracking down on viewpoints that GARM found objectionable. 
“But their authoritarian nature kicked in, &amp; they decided to ban cultural commentary they don&#8217;t approve of, like when we say men can&#8217;t be women,” Shapiro said. 
“Legacy media, new media, and even independent podcasters are subject to these rules. If you violate them and say true things the elites don&#8217;t like, they can blacklist you, demonetize you, or deplatform you,” he added. 
Shapiro said that he doesn’t think that WEF chairman Klaus Schwab believes that transgender-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney is actually a woman, but that supporting that position degrades family and social fabric, “making power easier to take from the top.” He added that it also makes the activists marching against capitalism now on the side of the powerful. 
One of the organizations that “helps” advertisers meet GARM standards is NewsGuard, which rates American media on supposedly apolitical criteria. According to NewsGuard, it helps <a href="https://www.newsguardtech.com/press/newsguard-offers-targeted-services-free-audits-to-help-brands-meet-new-garm-misinformation-standards/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">identify</a> so-called “misinformation” that is “inappropriate for advertising support.”
“The little compliance crusaders at NewsGuard engage in performative virtue signaling by going around issuing scores to media outlets based on their allegedly ‘apolitical’ criteria,” Shapiro said. 
The partnership has made even some lawmakers concerned. House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) subpoenaed officials from GARM and the WFA, saying that the two appeared to be facilitating “collusion among their members in a manner that may violate U.S. antitrust law.”
The end goal of the initiatives, Shapiro explained, is to control information and restrict what people can and cannot be exposed to.
“There are certain industries where a violation of antitrust law isn’t going to result in disaster. The Left’s increasing desire to monopolize news and commentary isn&#8217;t one of them. Take the time to know the players like your freedom depends on it, because it does,” Shapiro concluded.

On Wednesday, Musk addressed the World Government Summit currently taking place in Dubai. Via video conference, Musk professed a sharp defense of nationalism and sovereignty while blasting the idea of a one-world government.
The Tesla founder advised the leaders of more than 150 countries that sometimes, too much cooperation can be a bad thing. If countries were to merge under a world government and create a single civilization, then the entire world could face calamity if that system came crashing down, he argued.
&#8220;I think we want to be a little bit cautious about being too much … of a single civilization because if we are too much of a single civilization, then the whole thing may collapse,&#8221; he said.
Musk went on to praise what deemed &#8220;civilizational diversity.&#8221;
&#8220;But I think we want to be a little bit wary of actually cooperating too much — it sounds a little odd, but we want to have some amount of civilizational diversity such that if something does go wrong with some part of civilization that the whole thing doesn&#8217;t collapse,&#8221; he added.
The free-speech-loving billionaire used examples from history, arguing that cultures have been protected thanks to heterogeneity in the past.
&#8220;If you look at, say, the history and the rise and fall of civilizations that really all throughout history &#8230; it hasn&#8217;t meant the doom of humanity as a whole because there’ve been all these separate civilizations that were separated by great distances,&#8221; he explained.

Indeed, it is no secret that the previous leaders of the social media platform viewed it as their duty to be the arbiter of truth while pushing certain narratives. Under the guise of protecting against disinformation, Twitter previously stifled free speech and imposed an arguably woke worldview on everybody else. In many ways, they tried placing the entire globe under a &#8220;one world government&#8221; on the internet.
Musk has no interest in that and believes that making Twitter a place for free thought and citizen journalism — where people can be entertained and informed — is crucial for protecting democracy.

Folks who oppose such measures are men like World Economic Forum head Klaus Schwab. Musk has previously blasted WEF for &#8220;increasingly becoming an unelected world government that the people never asked for and don’t want.&#8221;
Schwab also spoke at the World Government Summit Wednesday. Not surprisingly, he argued precisely the opposite of what Musk had to say.
He wants to see an increase in global cooperation to foster a &#8220;global rules-based order.&#8221;
Schwab also warned that artificial intelligence and other advancements will increase over the next five years and that those&#8221;who master those technologies in some way will be the master of the world.&#8221;
It&#8217;s not hard to see that right now, Musk is, in many ways, blocking the WEF-aligned crowd from controlling the world through their ideas about proper governance. Right now, he stands athwart a global government. His acquisition of Twitter has thrown a wrench in globalist plans on everything from Ukraine to content moderation to ESG, and more. Twitter, under Musk, fosters the sort of creativity that technocrats cannot control. And that’s what they are really afraid of.

As the annual globalist confab staggered to a conclusion in Davos, the forum&#8217;s 52-year arc was also mercifully nearing an end. It began in 1971 as a wildly ambitious kook cult led by a 30-year-old economist who was equal parts Bond villain and L. Ron Hubbard. No one paid much attention for decades, but eventually rich, famous, and powerful people started showing up. That’s when conservatives raised the alarm and warned the world that Klaus Schwab and his vacant-eyed acolytes appeared bent on world domination. As usual, the leftist media’s response was something like, &#8220;You guys are crazy conspiracy theorists, and anyway, it’s a good thing.&#8221;
In 2023, with much of the world engulfed by debt, inflation, crisis-level immigration, and the looming threat of World War III, no one wants to hear what these pompous quarter-wits in propeller beanies have to say about how the rest of us should live. Even Europe’s unofficial energy czar, Greta Thunberg, only showed up this year <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/davos-2023-keep-it-in-the-ground-greta-thunberg-tells-protest-at-end-of-wef/ar-AA16ytTz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to heckle</a> the swells.
Emissions from this year’s collection of aging C-list gasbags included the usual dire warnings about a dying planet and the neo-spiritual demand for repentance from the developed world. With a dystopian hellscape just around the corner, the answer, as always, is for successful countries to return to the Stone Age while handing all their money over to unelected globalists who promise to distribute it to the noble savages.

Why, it seems like only yesterday that Gore was fending off a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/two-more-women-accuse-al-gore-of-assault-2010-7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slew of complaints from masseuses</a>, yet miraculously managed to sidestep MeToo cancellation and make <a href="https://moneyinc.com/al-gore-net-worth/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hundreds of millions of dollars</a> off his “save the planet” grift.
Fellow failed Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry, 79, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/at-davos-john-kerry-praises-select-group-of-people-for-saving-the-planet-but-says-they-need-money-money-money" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pronounced himself an “extraterrestrial&#8221;</a> who had been “touched” by someone or something which conferred upon him the power to save the planet. Synonymous with insufferable, Kerry once famously said that flying by private jet “is the only choice for somebody like me.” You too can own your own Gulfstream, if you marry the rich widow of your former Senate colleague.
Tony Blair, 69, the former British prime minister who is rumored to be Schwab’s potential successor, was heard calling for a “digital infrastructure” so “we can know who is vaccinated and who is not.” Memo to Blair: Not even those annoying people with “In this house …” yard signs and “Co-Exist” bumper stickers want this anymore.
The WEF&#8217;s twin sugar daddies didn’t even bother to attend this year. <a href="https://radaronline.com/p/bill-gates-dodges-questions-jeffrey-epstein-meetings-online-qa-session/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jeffrey Epstein’s old wingman, Bill Gates</a>, was a no-show, and George Soros was either unwilling or unable to leave the crypt to come bask in the genuflections of adoring minions.
There are even signs a mutiny could be building against Schwab. <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/jan/18/mutiny-erupts-among-wef-staff-over-role-of-mr-davos-klaus-schwab" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to The Guardian</a>, a group of current and former forum members signed on to a report calling the founder “completely unaccountable to anyone inside and outside the organization.”
“Klaus has been at the helm of the WEF for 52 years,” the group charged. “When he was born, 122 of the 195 states in the world right now did not even exist.”
Far more useful advice for protecting mankind and the planet came from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-british-satirists-scathing-indictment-of-woke-culture-global-warming-hysteria-viewed-5m-times" target="_blank" rel="noopener">British comedian Konstantin Kisin</a>, whose address at a recent Oxford Union debate went viral and reached far more eyes and ears than any dopey Davos decree. The gist: Innovation, not authoritarianism, is humanity’s only hope. People in the world’s poorest and most populous countries are not going to stop trying to stay warm and feed their children just to win over a delusional pack of patronizing progressives.
“You are not going to get these people to stay poor,” Kisin said. “You’re not even going to get them to not want to be richer. And so I put it to you ladies and gentlemen, there is only one thing we can do in this country to stop climate change, and that is to make scientific and technological breakthroughs that will create the clean energy that is not only clean, but also cheaper.”
If Kisin wants to start a club and hold annual meetings in the Swiss Alps to discuss how to take over the world, I’m in. Who knows? It might become a real thing in 50 years.

Called “Safety by Design,” the new scheme seeks to regulate social media by having prohibitions against “harmful” content built into the technology behind their platforms. But it looks like yet another bid by the Left to control speech it doesn’t like by deeming it dangerous, Knowles said.

While the efforts began under the banner of protecting children, Knowles warned that, for the WEF, which is meeting in Davos this week, the stated purpose is more likely to be the proverbial camel’s nose in the tent. In this year’s promotional literature, the WEF includes the Safety by Design project as part of its larger plan for “Shaping the Future of Media, Entertainment and Sport Platform.”
“Does that sound like something that exists merely to deplatform child pornography?” Knowles mused on Twitter. “No. Because it isn’t.”
Safety by Design’s leading champion is a radical Australian official (and dual US Citizen) named Julie Inman Grant, who has helped put it in place Down Under, according to Knowles. During last year’s annual WEF meeting, <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/15fA5rhCdPAMbuOsdaeMGSTSvKN8N2_pJ/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a clip of the Australian eSafety commissioner</a> suggesting a “recalibration” of free speech went viral. Knowles said Grant, who spoke again Wednesday at a WEF panel, has a resume steeped in tech censorship.
“After beginning her career in DC, Grant tried to become a &#8216;safety antagonist&#8217;—her words—at Microsoft, Adobe, and pre-Elon Twitter,” Knowles tweeted. “She left Big Tech after her push for &#8216;Safety by Design&#8217; fell flat and went where her scheme for control was welcome: the Australian Gov &amp; WEF.”
Grant’s own interview history includes mocking &#8220;middle-aged Caucasian men” and advocating the role app stores can play, citing the deplatforming of Parler following January 6. But with “Safety by Design,” she seems to have finally latched onto an effective – and frightening – tool for controlling the speech of people she disagrees with, according to Knowles. The basic idea behind it is that since government regulators can’t possibly keep up with innovation, regulatory preferences should be built into technology.

“In order to operate in Australia and many more countries soon if the WEF has its way… a company would have to abide by these “basic online safety expectations” and lean into the “safety” pushed by the eSafety Commissioner and the WEF,” Knowles wrote.
The Australian agency offers an “enterprise” training course for tech companies and lists hate speech, individual identity attacks, disinformation/misinformation, and conspiracy content as items for the companies to target. In recent years, and especially with newly revealed communications between the U.S. government and Twitter, conservatives have come to believe that their beliefs on politics, public health, and other issues have been branded as “misinformation” simply as a pretext to silence them.
Safety by Design could soon be coming to a government near you, Knowles warned. That’s because Grant also serves on the WEF’s Global Coalition for Digital Safety and something called its “XR Ecosystem Governance Steering Committee on Building and Defining the Metaverse.”
“At this point, you might be thinking, ‘Thank goodness I don’t live in Australia,’ or perhaps, ‘Uh oh, I live in Australia,’” he tweeted. “But it turns out it doesn’t matter. Thanks to the World Economic Forum, &#8216;Safety by Design&#8217; is being exported globally.”

The organization is a leading proponent of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/esg-the-invisible-fist-of-the-economy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stakeholder capitalism</a>, an economic philosophy in which executives consider the needs of communities and other parties in addition to shareholders, as well as increased cooperation between public and private actors to chart the direction of mankind.
“We are confronted with unprecedented and multiple challenges. First, our global economy is undergoing deep transformation,” Schwab said during his <a href="https://www.weforum.org/events/world-economic-forum-annual-meeting-2023/sessions/welcoming-remarks-and-special-address-1ae0e2ca72" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opening address</a>. “The energy transition, the consequences of COVID, the reshaping of supply chains are all serving as catalytic forces for the economic transformation.”
He said large corporations and social media companies are now among the “messy patchwork” of superpowers, emerging powers, and rogue states “all competing increasingly for power and influence.” The German economist added that the world is marked by “increased fragmentation and confrontation.”
Schwab, who has led the controversial organization for decades, garnered worldwide notoriety for suggesting that the lockdown-induced recession presents an opportunity for elites to craft a “Great Reset” of the planet’s economic and social systems. He repeated many of the <a href="https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/06/now-is-the-time-for-a-great-reset/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tenets</a> of the plan during his speech.
“The spirit of Davos is positive and constructive. It means investing into a greener and therefore more sustainable economy, investing into a more cohesive society by providing everyone with the appropriate skills and opportunities, investing into the hard and soft infrastructure that modern societies require,” he said. “Through collective responsibility, innovation, and human goodwill and ingenuity, we have the capacity to turn such challenges into opportunities.”
Other prominent speakers who addressed the conference on Tuesday included Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska, who <a href="https://www.weforum.org/press/2023/01/ukrainian-first-lady-joins-swiss-president-in-opening-plenary-of-world-economic-forum-annual-meeting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">remarked</a> that the “combined influence” of the assembled nations and corporate interests is “bigger than the weight” of their common problems. “That is why it is all the more important right now to use this influence when Russia’s invasion threatens a large-scale collapse of the world as we know it,” she added.

Schwab, the world’s leading proponent of “stakeholder capitalism,” made his remarks while at an awards ceremony for &#8220;cultural leaders&#8221; who have worked to promote things like climate change.

Beyond the more than 1,400 business leaders scheduled to <a href="https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2023/01/better-business-stakeholder-capitalism-esg/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attend</a> the conference, executives expected to speak or participate in panel events include Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, and Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel. Hundreds of world leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska, and Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, will also <a href="https://www3.weforum.org/docs/WEF_AM23_List_of_confirmed_PFs.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attend</a> the conference.
