Actor Kirk Cameron has spent the last several years bravely engaging in the culture war. 
Despite a history in Hollywood, however, the “Growing Pains” alum has been doing battle in public libraries. In an interview with The Daily Wire&#8217;s “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/mrn-251224-member-exclusive?elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+Show+Episodes+Carousel">Morning Wire</a>” released on Wednesday, Cameron discussed why he believes the fight begins with young people.
Cameron said it was becoming a father and that really got him thinking about these issues. “Once you become a dad, and now I’m a grandfather, I’m beginning to think legacy,” he told Morning Wire. “I’m beginning to think of how can I help my children succeed and win.”

For Cameron, that meant investing in “the moral spiritual health of my children and my grandchildren” by creating content that does not “bend with the political winds.” He pointed to beloved figures like Mr. Rogers and asked, “Who’s our guy today who’s gonna do that?&#8230; If not me, then who?”
This inspired Cameron to launch Brave Books and the children’s television series “Adventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk.” He described reception as divided along the Right and Left political spectrum. 
“Well, it depends on who you ask,” Cameron said of the reception. “The drag queens don’t like the books much. And the libraries that support progressive agendas don’t like me entering much.”
Cameron recounted being denied access to roughly 50 public libraries, including those that host drag queen story hours, because, he was told their “values don’t align.”

“I thought the rules were… diversity, equity, and inclusion,” he said. “Why do you exclude me? Why not diversity of thought instead of this monoculture that the kids are getting?”
When libraries ultimately reversed course after being threatened with legal action, Cameron said the response from families was overwhelming. “Thousands of parents and grandparents showed up and said, ‘Thank you. We don’t want this other stuff, but we’re being marginalized and silenced.’”
Critics often frame Christian values as inherently discriminatory. Cameron rejected that premise outright. “Every view is inherently discriminatory,” he said, “particularly the progressive inclusive view, as I experienced.”
The TV star quipped that he’s been “run over by the tolerance bus several times.”
“If someone’s coming at you with a sign that says ‘love everybody,’ be careful,” Cameron added. “They might whack you over the head with it.”
Cameron told Morning Wire that the root of the problem is conflicting worldviews. “There are ideas that lead to liberty and blessing, and then there’s ideas that don’t,” he said. The TV star said his own values are “the value set of Moses that’s been around for thousands of years and produced the world’s greatest civilizations.”
Cameron said he’s been encouraged by recent changes in the culture. “Three years ago we were being locked out of public libraries,” he said. “This last year we were invited by the Library of Congress… so that we could read these same books.”
“Whoever rocks the cradle rules the future,” Cameron said of inspiring the youngest generation. “Whoever gets to tell the kids the bedtime stories… you’re shaping the next generation’s hearts and minds.”

It all started with one book reading being denied at more than 50 public libraries even as Drag Queen Story Hours across America were welcomed with open arms. This was enough for actor and author Kirk Cameron to go on a mission to create something different, and now, See You at the Library returned for its third year this past Saturday, August 16.
This year, over 200 story hours were hosted in libraries across the country, uniting families around timeless values like faith, family, and freedom.
The flagship gathering this year took place in the heart of Washington, D.C., at the Library of Congress. The historic event featured special guest readers Kirk Cameron, “Duck Dynasty” alum Missy Robertson, and Daily Wire host Michael Knowles. Held in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education’s Center of Faith, the moment marked a turning point, elevating the event from a grassroots effort to a national movement.
Cameron spoke candidly about what was at stake, telling the assembled crowd, “At the end of the day, it is about us recognizing that it is our job, not his, not theirs, to turn our country back to what made her great in the first place — faith, moral integrity, and courage.” He said America will either experience a “great awakening” or a “rude awakening” depending on the moral courage of its people.
Robertson echoed his words, saying, “When we say we are coming back as a country, we are saying we are coming back to the values that God wrote on each of our hearts.”

Knowles and the 54-year-old conservative actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/kirk-cameron">traded questions</a> in the game, wherein opponents win points by accurately guessing which way their opponent will lean on topics ranging from politics and religion to pop culture and more.
Cameron and Knowles agreed that “it’s more of a risk to send your teenager to public school than it is to buy them a motorcycle,” prompting a discussion on how American public education has become “religious” in the way that it drills students in left-wing ideologies.
Knowles pointed to a recent CDC study that came out saying, “1 in 30 American high school students today identify as transgender. One-in-eighteen is gender questioning…to subject your kid to that you are 1-in-18 chance, you are really rolling the dice with your kid’s life.”

The “Growing Pains” star talked about how he and his wife chose to homeschool their six kids, calling public schools today “far too religious.”
“At the end of the day, public schools have become so unsafe for your children, in my opinion,” Cameron explained. “And the value of the sacrifice they demand from you to their priests and their elders is just not even…and I think that they’ve created their own worship, called ‘secular humanism.’”
“Which has become the church of secular culture,” he added. “And it’s the worship of corporate man or human beings and they have their own twisted Ten Commandments, LGBTQIADEI. And if you don’t fall in line with that dogma, that is grounds for banishment from their society.”
Knowles agreed, labeling it effectively a “conversion therapy” to their religion.
“Ironically, they say they hate conversion therapy,” the DW host said. “But it&#8217;s conversion therapy to their false religion.”
Later, Cameron posed a question to Knowles asking whether “the media’s war on masculinity is really an attack on Biblical manhood.” Both agreed yes, with the Daily Wire host suggesting it is also an attack on the natural things about being a man, what he called “the Christian understanding” of manhood and fatherhood.
Cameron agreed, adding that “much of the media wants to depict men as defective women.”
“And I think that is because there is inherent value to being masculine that is very scary to the Left,” the Hollywood star said. “Men who so love their wives, children, their God and their family and their future that they are willing to defend it with their own lives. That’s something that stands in the way of consolidating power in the government and advancing Marxism …”

Superstar singer Sheryl Crow found her way to motherhood after deciding to adopt not one but two sons, one in 2007 and another in 2010.
Speaking on the “<a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sheryl-crow-getting-to-the-other-side/id1585499926?i=1000539607246">Making Space with Hoda Kotb</a>” podcast in 2021, the 62-year-old singer said she &#8220;just never didn&#8217;t think I would have kids.” She admitted her dream of being a mom didn’t include adoption until her mom threw her a &#8220;life raft&#8221; and told her she could be one even if she wasn’t married.
&#8220;You have a family around you who will stand at the altar with you at baptism and say, &#8216;We are his community, or her community,’” Crow said of the conversation she had with her mom.
&#8220;The story I was telling myself limited what I thought I could have, until somebody stepped in and said, &#8216;Wait a minute, your story doesn&#8217;t have to look like your mom and dad&#8217;s story,'&#8221; she added. &#8220;Families look like all different things.&#8221;

“Growing Pains” and “Lifemark” star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kirk-cameron">Kirk Cameron</a> is one of the most vocal stars about the power of adoption. The 53-year-old actor and his wife Chelsea Noble not only adopted the first four of their six kids, but also credits adoption with bringing him his wife, who was also adopted by her parents.
During an interview in 2022 with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kirk-cameron-talks-lifemark-movie-that-proves-why-life-should-be-defended-at-all-costs">The Daily Wire</a>, Cameron told us he and his wife wanted to have kids and thought it was a “beautiful way to have a family.”
Cameron told The Daily Wire that his wife and four children “were one doctor appointment away from not being here.” 
“The adoption option, I think, is such a loving, beautiful place, and I&#8217;ve experienced the result of that choice myself,” the actor told <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/kirk-cameron-shares-message-faith-film-about-beauty-of-adoption-talks-growing-pains-reboot">Fox News</a> previously. “Like I said, with our four kids, my wife is adopted, and if my wife had not been adopted, we likely would not have our two natural-born children either.&#8221; 
“I think it&#8217;s incredible that God brings families together in all kinds of ways,” he added. “And I&#8217;m just so thankful for those ladies out there who make the loving choice of adoption.&#8221;
Steven Curtis Chapman
Christian superstar Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife Mary Beth discovered adoption as a way to grow their family after Mary Beth and their daughter Emily traveled to Haiti and met a young girl age 11, according to the website of their <a href="https://showhope.org/about-us/founders-story/">non-profit</a> Show Hope.
Learning about the orphaned girl’s needs and after praying for guidance, the Chapmans knew that adoption was what they needed to do.
So, the couple set out not once but three times to adopt kids who could use a loving home and over the next few years grew their family after adopting Shaohannah Hope, Stevey Joy, and Maria.
It was this experience that inspired them to create Show Hope, a non-profit organization in Tennessee in 2003 for those families who had the heart but not the means to adopt a child.
“Show Hope exists to care for orphans by engaging the Church and reducing barriers to adoption,” a message on their organization&#8217;s website read. Through the group’s Adoption Aid, “Show Hope has impacted more than 8,600 children from more than 60 countries, including the U.S., by awarding financial grants to families who are on the adoption journey.”

Actress Michelle Pfeiffer was still searching for the love of her life when she decided to adopt her newborn daughter. Later that year, she met the man who would become her husband, TV producer David Kelley. Less than a year later, the couple welcomed a son.
Speaking to <a href="https://people.com/all-about-michelle-pfeiffer-kids-7569445#:~:text=%E2%80%9CThe%20adoption%20process%20was%20already,people%20don't%20have%20that.">Good Housekeeping in 2007</a>, Pfeiffer said the “adoption process was already in motion when he and I met.”
“So when she came, he and I had only been together for about two months. So we had this child with us right away, and most people don&#8217;t have that. But I really got to see him in a situation that certainly would separate the boys from the men,” the actress said. “Obviously, he really rose to the occasion.”
In an interview for the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/celebrities-adopted-kids-2018-3#nia-vardalos-and-her-then-husband-adopted-their-daughter-after-fertility-issues-22">Independent in 2007</a>,  the “Scarface” star said, &#8220;As mother of both an adopted child and my own birth-child, there is absolutely no difference in the huge amount of love I feel for both my children. I always knew I wanted to adopt a child and also have one of my own. There is no difference at all.”

Superstar actress Sandra Bullock found her family through adoption amid her divorce from husband Jesse James after five years of marriage.
The 59-year-old actress adopted her son when he was just a newborn and five years later adopted her daughter who was three and had been run through the foster care system, “Today” <a href="https://www.today.com/parents/moms/sandra-bullock-people-consider-adoption-rcna8046" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
During an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvbps0QY6UI&amp;t=8s">interview</a> in 2021, Bullock was talking about her movie “The Unforgivable” and reflected on how adoption changed her life.
“If it wasn’t for adoption and foster care, I wouldn’t have my family, so this film really struck a chord in that there are millions upon millions of babies and children on this planet that have no one to love,” Bullock explained at the time.
&#8220;They have no one to let them know they are the most amazing thing when they walk in a room,&#8221; she added.“There are millions upon millions of adults that wish they could be a parent.”
“Love is love,” Bullock continued. “And if we stop defining that narrative, it’s just one avenue, the amazing impact would be love and families. And health and mental health and beyond.”

“Growing Pains” star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kirk-cameron" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kirk Cameron</a> said the “dark,” “evil” and “twisted” revelations we’ve seen in the “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nickelodeon-star-melissa-joan-hart-responds-to-quiet-on-the-set-allegations-believe-them-100-percent" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Quiet on Set</a>: The Dark Side of Kids TV” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-nickelodeon-star-says-she-was-forced-to-kiss-30-year-old-man-as-a-teen-on-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">docuseries</a> have &#8220;been going on for a long time” in Hollywood.
Speaking to The Daily Wire, the 53-year-old actor said as a child working in Hollywood he definitely witnessed the “disturbing” behavior by those in the business, including his former personal dialogue coach on “Growing Pains” Brian Peck, the convicted sex offender named in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-documentary-uncovers-child-abuse-at-nickelodeon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">series</a>. Peck was arrested, charged with sexual abuse crimes, and ordered to register as a sex offender, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-nickelodeon-star-drake-bell-details-alleged-sexual-abuse-by-dialogue-coach-it-was-extensive-and-brutal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“So, the evil, the darkness, the twisted sickness of Hollywood has been going on for a long time,” Cameron told us. “I started acting when I was 9-years-old. I began ‘Growing Pains’ at 14-years-old. And I was suspicious that that stuff was going on behind the curtains even when I was working on ‘Growing Pains.’”
“And there were several young boys like us [Cameron and Leonardo DiCaprio] that he [Peck] interacted with on a regular basis,” Cameron said. “So, it’s shocking. It’s sickening.
In one of the episodes of the shocking documentary — which alleges abuse and a toxic work environment behind the scenes at Nickelodeon — a clip played from “Growing Pains” showing a young DiCaprio with Peck constantly rubbing the young star’s arms and touching him. Cameron said that’s exactly how he recalled Peck behaving and just remembered “that’s the kind of thing you would see and make you pause and go ‘there’s a little flag on the field,’ but not enough to prove something worse.”

The Hollywood star shared that at the same time he worked on “Growing Pains” (1985 &#8211; 1992) with Peck, the executive producer and showrunner was Steven Marshall. In 2010, Marshall was arrested and convicted for possession and distribution of child pornography, the <a href="https://nypost.com/2010/03/16/growing-pains-producer-sentenced-for-child-porn/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a> reported.
He served 7½ years in federal prison after he was <a href="https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2010/mar/17/child-porn-gets-ex-tv-exec-prison-20100317/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrested</a> by an undercover federal agent who was posing as a pedophile. In Marshall’s chats with the agent, the former TV producer would <a href="https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2010/mar/17/child-porn-gets-ex-tv-exec-prison-20100317/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">brag</a> about “child abduction, bondage, rapes and murders,” the outlet noted. It came out later in court that the exec. producer never actually had “physical contact” with any of the kids he bragged about doing vile things to, Cameron noted.
“Thank God I got out of there unscathed in the 1980s,” Cameron said. “Those people who did this stuff to these kids are the same kind of people in the industry today. Still making twisted, sick, perverted material that’s hurting children today. And they need to be completely rooted out and replaced.”
“But it’s too late,” Cameron continued. “These children, like Drake Bell &#8230; they have scars that they will carry with them permanently throughout their life.”
Cameron also mentioned he recently spoke with former producers and writers of the show about working with Peck and Marshall, recalling their behavior on set.
“And the consensus was these individuals were charming, they ingratiated themselves into their victims’ lives and were generally likable people when they were putting the ‘nice guy’ face on,” Cameron said.
“But there was … always something smarmy about them,” he added. “You know it was like your ‘Spidey-senses’ told you something’s not right. They were handsy and physical in a smarmy kind of way. But not so overt that you could totally detect what was happening.”
Cameron said he “absolutely” credited his parents with keeping him safe in the predatory environment, adding, “My mom was on the set every day when I was a minor on ‘Growing Pains.’” He also credited his former “cast and crew” who served as additional sets of “guardians.”

When asked if he thinks Hollywood protects the predator instead of the survivor, the longtime actor said what we are seeing now “ … is an industry that tries to indemnify, exonerate the very pedophiles that we say we want to get rid of, because they are the pedophiles.”
When asked about the letters of support written in defense of Peck by his former on-screen parents, Alan Thicke and Joanna Kerns, Cameron noted, “Nobody wants to believe that the fun, charming, dialogue coach who’s ingratiated himself into the lives of others — almost to the point of being a trusted family friend — would do something so wicked and evil.”
The letters were used by Peck’s attorneys before he was convicted of sexually assaulting a minor. Kearns has since walked back her letter of support. Thicke, however, passed away in 2016.
Following the documentary’s release, former child star Bell came forward and said he was the John Doe from a sexual abuse case from 2004 involving former Nickelodeon dialogue coach Peck. Peck pleaded no contest to the charges, was sentenced to 16 months in prison, and ordered to register as a sex offender, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-nickelodeon-star-drake-bell-details-alleged-sexual-abuse-by-dialogue-coach-it-was-extensive-and-brutal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Docuseries contributors also spoke frequently about former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider, who they said perpetrated abuse by acting in a controlling manner and making sexually suggestive jokes, some of which were used in children’s programming. They also alleged that Schneider was filmed in a hot tub with then-16-year-old actress Amanda Bynes.
“I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology,” Schneider said in a statement following the release of “Quiet on Set.”

The “Lifemark” star talked about the massive increase in LGBTQ programming targeting children from places like Disney, Cartoon Network and Netflix, and said they are no longer hiding their agenda.
“Openly sharing their agenda &#8230; giddy with excitement trying to add as much ‘queerness’ to their content as they can over time,” the actor said. “Before it was sort of hidden, under the radar. But now it’s wide open. They’ve gotten themselves intoxicated with their own perversion and they are so drunk on it that they don’t even know what’s wrong.”
Cameron said he “one hundred percent” thinks the lack of faith in Hollywood led to the darkness.
“The problem is when you take God out of Hollywood or politics they become corrupted.”
It is those experiences the actor went through and the things he’s learned since about the people he worked with that he said motivates him to be part of the solution, to create a safe working environment for kids and children’s programming like he had when he was growing up.

The &#8220;Growing Pains star&#8221; shared what he said were the pages from the book &#8220;Welcome to St. Hell,&#8221; a &#8220;2022 [Scholastic] book that&#8221; he said &#8220;glamorizes gender transitioning to middle schoolers.&#8221;
He also included another post with quotes from another pro-trans book called &#8220;Melissa&#8221; that&#8217;s geared towards children ages 8–12 and written by Scholastic&#8217;s &#8220;radical activist-author [Alex Gino].&#8221; The excerpt he shared read, &#8220;She immersed her body in the warm water and tried not to think about what was between her legs, but there it was a [penis] bobbing in front of her.&#8221;
Another excerpt from a different book from the publisher titled &#8220;Rick,&#8221; that&#8217;s &#8220;marketed for children ages 8–12&#8221; he said &#8220;tells the story of a grandfather and grandchild coming out as trans to one another.&#8221;
&#8220;As further evidence of how obscene these books are, [BraveBooksUS] had a [Facebook] ad that included images from [Scholastic&#8217;s] book, &#8216;Heartstopper,&#8217; which got rejected for depicting &#8216;people in explicit or suggestive positions or images that show nudity or cleavage,'&#8221; Cameron wrote.
&#8220;Some assume that because [Scholastic] is a world-renowned children&#8217;s publisher, these books we&#8217;ve highlighted are the exception,&#8221; he added. &#8220;That is incorrect &#8230; [Scholastic] has published a list of their 100+ LGBTQIA+ books on their website. (This list is not exhaustive as we found many other LGBTQ-themed books not on it.)&#8221;
&#8220;For many years, [Scholastic] has been championed by educators as a trusted publisher of children&#8217;s content,&#8221; the actor continued. &#8220;This should no longer be the case. Scholastic is pushing sexualized and gender-confusing content for minors into schools and libraries.&#8221;

Cameron told The Daily Wire he&#8217;s partnering with the company because &#8220;kids are exposed to sexually explicit, race-infused, and gender-confusing children&#8217;s books while being told this is what it means to be educated, that this is the reason they go to school. But these books, published and distributed by Scholastic, are taking children down a path that will eventually destroy them and their families.&#8221;

An Alabama public library reversed its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/alabama-library-cancels-moms-for-liberty-kirk-cameron-faith-filled-story-hour-event-after-hundreds-rsvp" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decision to cancel</a> a Moms for Liberty book reading event featuring actor Kirk Cameron and women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines. It will now allow it to take place on Saturday. 
The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library System announced Wednesday that the Madison Public Library could no longer hold the event after the scope of attendees quickly grew from approximately 30 to 300, <a href="https://www.hmcpl.org/sites/default/files/images/Moms%20for%20Liberty%20event%20exceeds%20capacity%20for%20Madison%20Public%20Library%208_3_23.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">citing</a> concerns about security and capacity. After backlash and a letter from law firm First Liberty Institute, the library system reverted back to allowing the event, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/alabama-library-caves-brave-books-kirk-cameron-stand-up-attempt-deny-americans-venue" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
&#8220;I&#8217;m happy to announce that Madison Public Library has reversed course and are now rightfully inviting us to come host the story hour for the community in Huntsville,&#8221; said Brave Books CEO Trent Talbot. 
&#8220;We must stand our ground and fight for our public institutions,” he added. “The foe we fail to meet at the gate in our own generation is the foe we let into the city for the next.&#8221;
The event, held by publishing company Brave Books, is part of a “See You at the Library” national tour in nearly 300 libraries in 45 states. After Cameron announced on social media that he would attend, protesters threatened to crash the event. 
As more people began expressing interest in attending, the library asked if the organizers needed additional space to accommodate a larger crowd. They initially declined, suggesting holding the event outside. However, after local law enforcement confirmed threats of protests from a group out of Birmingham, they were advised to move the event to a private location. But the organization stayed firm on its position to hold the event in the public space.
Brave Books immediately challenged the decision to cancel the event, and law firm First Liberty Institute sent a letter to the library system, stating it was &#8220;prepared to vindicate this violation of our client’s civil rights in court,&#8221; Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/alabama-library-caves-brave-books-kirk-cameron-stand-up-attempt-deny-americans-venue">reported</a>. Moms for Liberty organizers Emily Jones and Elizabeth Stewart previously told The Daily Wire they disagreed with how the library system and the Madison City Police Department wanted to address the safety concerns.
“It was a directive on how to manage our group and not the protesters,” Jones, the organization’s Madison County chapter chair, said. “To me, that just indicates that [the police chief] is not interested in making this event go well. He wants it to go away.”

Alabama Library Reverses Decision After Canceling Kirk Cameron, Riley Gaines Faith-Filled Story Hour Event

Two days after actor Kirk Cameron and former NCAA champion swimmer Riley Gaines announced that they would be appearing at a faith-filled story hour hosted by the conservative political organization Moms for Liberty at the Madison Public Library in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alabama" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alabama</a>, the event was abruptly canceled after months of planning.
Citing a capacity limit, the library&#8217;s public relations director Jay Hixon said in a <a href="https://www.hmcpl.org/sites/default/files/images/Moms%20for%20Liberty%20event%20exceeds%20capacity%20for%20Madison%20Public%20Library%208_3_23.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">news release</a> that the public space could no longer hold the event after the scope of attendees quickly grew from approximately 30 to 300 following the announcement from conservative influencers Cameron and Gaines, which also sparked threats from protestors about 80 miles south of Madison County.
But Moms for Liberty organizers Emily Jones and Elizabeth Stewart told The Daily Wire they&#8217;re not buying the official narrative from the 200-year-old countywide library system and the Madison City Police Department.
&#8220;It was a directive on how to manage our group and not the protesters,&#8221; Jones, the organization&#8217;s Madison County chapter chair, said. &#8220;To me, that just indicates that [the police chief] is not interested in making this event go well. He wants it to go away.&#8221;
Two months ago, Jones said the grassroots parent group that advocates against school curricula teaching identity politics to children &#8212; including LGBT rights and Critical Race Theory &#8212; received notice from BRAVE Books publishing company looking to hold a story hour event in the southern state during its &#8220;See You at the Library&#8221; national tour taking place in nearly 300 libraries and 45 states across the country.

&#8220;This is intended to be at a library and put traditional values back into the library, so we&#8217;re sticking there,&#8221; Jones said.
After several exchanges, the library ultimately said they would no longer support the event out of safety concerns and suggested finding a new location without providing other alternative solutions, including directing library staff to operate on a suggested first-come, first-serve basis.
&#8220;My personal opinion is they really don&#8217;t want this event to happen,&#8221; Stewart, the communications lead for the organization&#8217;s first and largest chapter in North Alabama, said.
Stewart said the group has been monitoring social media accounts on TikTok and Reddit threads of far-left protesters who planned to travel to Madison and hold protests outside the story hour event. Some have indicated they would display banned books in the parking lot, while others suggested they would show up dressed in drag attire in front of the children.
When tour organizers first approached Moms for Liberty to host the children&#8217;s event, Jones said they were reluctant due to other obligations. But after a couple of weeks, she said God put it on her heart to move forward with the event in the wake of drag queen story events popping up nationwide in recent years, including at the <a href="https://www.mymuskokanow.com/92605/news/drag-queen-story-time-a-success-for-huntsville-library/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Madison Public Library</a>.
&#8220;We have family-friendly drag shows 20 minutes from my house,&#8221; she said. &#8220;We have kid drag shows, meaning kids are dressing in drag on full display — and I think that God put this in front of us because he hears the cry of our community, our churches, and our leaders to step up and push back on them.&#8221;
&#8220;So I think God did the next best thing and turned to the moms and said, &#8216;Make it happen,'&#8221; she added.
BRAVE Books recently obtained evidence that the taxpayer-funded American Library Association (ALA) has allegedly been guiding libraries nationwide to thwart conservative or Christian parent groups from gathering in public libraries. According to the publishing company, a director with the national association suggested how libraries could block public meeting rooms from events like Cameron&#8217;s tour to use under the pretext of the space already being taken for other activities.

After the company posted the leaked recordings on social media, Republican Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joined Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Mike Braun (R-IN) in demanding an investigation into ALA&#8217;s alleged religious discrimination against BRAVE Books.
&#8220;To the contrary, the ALA is advancing a political agenda, not Brave Books. Further, the ALA is doing so while receiving federal funds and actively promoting hotly contested events in public libraries, including &#8216;Drag Queen Story Hours&#8217; – events aimed at having scantily and/or exotically clothed adults read to children with the goal of introducing them to sexualized topics. The ALA has an entire page dedicated to &#8216;Drag Queen Story Hour,&#8217; which includes a program session labeled &#8216;Reading Fabulously,'&#8221; <a href="https://www.cramer.senate.gov/news/press-releases/sen-cramer-colleagues-demand-investigation-into-alas-religious-discrimination-against-brave-books" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> the senators.
First Liberty Institute, the law firm representing Cameron and Brave Books, sent a letter to the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services in Washington, D.C., asking the federal agency to &#8220;open an investigation into whether the American Library Association has violated federal law protecting religious liberty and failed to comply with the assurances of nondiscrimination required as a federal grant recipient,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.christianpost.com/news/kirk-cameron-seeks-investigation-of-american-library-association.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Christian Post</a>.
An ALA spokesperson told the outlet, in part, &#8220;Publicly funded libraries are not obligated to provide meeting room space to the public.&#8221;
&#8220;If libraries choose to do so, such spaces are considered designated public forums, and legal precedent holds that libraries may not exclude any group based on the subject matter to be discussed or the ideas for which the group advocates,&#8221; the spokesperson continued, adding the association has been &#8220;very clear that, just like all other policies, library policies regarding meeting rooms should not be prejudicial or discriminatory&#8221; and should follow what it considers &#8220;a reasonable content and viewpoint policy&#8221; that protects library users and staff from &#8220;harassment.&#8221;
&#8220;[R]ather, they must be inclusive and follow a reasonable content and viewpoint policy that benefits all members, as well as &#8216;user behavior policies that protect library users and staff from harassment, while maintaining their historic support for the freedom of speech,'&#8221; the spokesperson said. &#8220;Any statement or suggestion that ALA has advised otherwise is incorrect and intentionally misleading.&#8221;
First Liberty attorney Jeremy Dys, who is representing the Alabama Moms for Liberty chapter, called the cancellation an &#8220;unconstitutional religious discrimination&#8221; in a letter to the Huntsville-Madison County Libraries, adding that if Madison Public Library continues to refuse space for the event, attorneys are &#8220;prepared to vindicate this violation of our client&#8217;s civil rights in court.&#8221;
But for parents nationwide, such as Jones and Stewart, who observe foundational institutions exiling Christian conservatives out of the public square while openly embracing &#8220;evil societal norms&#8221; taking precedence in the United States, they are more encouraged than ever to take their fight on a national level and bring revival back into the communities.
&#8220;This does not go away with one story hour,&#8221; Jones said. &#8220;This is a generational fight for the safety and welfare of our children, and we&#8217;ve got to start taking action.&#8221;

The 52-year-old actor spoke to The Daily Wire on Tuesday about both the positive response and pushback he and his publisher have seen for their National See You At The Library Day 2023, taking place in nearly 300 libraries and 45 states across the country.

&#8220;They don&#8217;t like being marginalized and vilified. Well, on August 5, we have a seat at the table and the Left is going to feel the weight of that,&#8221; Cameron continued, noting how Christians are taking a page out of the Left&#8217;s handbook in this fight.

Recently, Brave books and Cameron spoke about the pushback they have gotten from protestors and some libraries. He also talked about video they obtained of the American Library Association (ALA) explaining to other libraries how they could &#8220;block families&#8221; who want to host these story hours, while &#8220;simultaneously hosting and funding Drag Queen story hours.&#8221;
The &#8220;Growing Pains&#8221; star praised politicians like Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) who the publisher said sent a letter to the IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services) calling for an investigation into the ALA and their apparent use of taxpayer dollars to silence BRAVE Books, a release read.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kirk-cameron-reacts-to-library-harassment-at-faith-based-story-hour-says-lefts-playing-the-long-game" target="_blank" rel="noopener">52-year-old actor</a> spoke to The Daily Wire about his book, the first in a series of books on the seven deadly sins, which deals with Pride &#8220;because it&#8217;s the deadliest.&#8221; He said despite what critics are claiming, his book from Brave Books is not anti-LGBTQ, but instead &#8220;pro-humility.&#8221;
He said kids have loved it because they understood the message right away which is &#8220;that when you are prideful and think of yourself first, you&#8217;re headed for destruction. But when you think of others first and you look to serve them then you win.&#8221;
&#8220;I think that at the end of the day, there are those who want to take my book about humility and somehow twist it into a narrative that it&#8217;s an anti-gay book,&#8221; Cameron said. &#8220;Which couldn&#8217;t be further from the truth. It&#8217;s simply a pro-humility book.&#8221;
&#8220;Everybody needs to learn the blessing of being humble and thinking of others first,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Feeding the &#8216;me monster,&#8217; self-satisfaction, self-exaltation always leads to misery.&#8221;
When pressed further about the books&#8217; release in time for Pride Month, the &#8220;Lifemark&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kirk-cameron-riley-gaines-and-duck-dynasty-alum-missy-robertson-harassed-by-library-staff-at-faith-based-story-hour" target="_blank" rel="noopener">star</a> said he couldn&#8217;t &#8220;think of a better time for this book to be released.&#8221;
&#8220;Number one, it&#8217;s just in time for kids getting out of school in June &#8230;,&#8221; Cameron said. &#8220;I do understand though that of course this is Pride Month. l think it&#8217;s deeply concerning that we have one month out of the year that has been set aside to glorify who people like to have sex with.&#8221;
&#8220;What I see happening culturally with Bud Light and Target and North Face and other companies who are leaning into this ESG woke agenda,&#8221; he added, is a &#8220;strategy&#8221; to &#8220;distract everybody with cries for empathy, inclusion, and diversity. And then claim that it&#8217;s all just harmless human rights.&#8221;
&#8220;And then they go after the kids, like in these Drag Queen Story Hours &#8230; because they are the most vulnerable and easily influenced,&#8221; Cameron continued. &#8220;So they wash over their innocent little consciouses with this leftist propaganda knowing that it will become the reality of the next generation. And they [will] have successfully destabilized and de-organized our current social system in order to reorganize it according to a value system made in their own image.&#8221;

&#8220;I think that it&#8217;s important that we vote with our dollars and we support companies and the people that support America and America values,&#8221; the &#8220;Growing Pains&#8221; star said. &#8220;But at the end of the day, we need to turn our hearts to God because this problem is bigger than just shopping for shoes and bathing suits at another store.&#8221;

&#8220;So, for the group that&#8217;s all about inclusion and tolerance, they sure are hell bent on excluding families &#8230; and really want to crash the party,&#8221; the actor explained. &#8220;They were accusing us of scaring children with our books, but they just looked scary. It was really weird and creeping everyone out. &#8221;
&#8220;We had to increase security because of the threats [at this event in particular] that were communicated and we want to make sure that kids are not a part of any sort of dangerous protest,&#8221; he added.
The &#8220;Growing Pains&#8221; star said this event wasn&#8217;t the only one were they have been notified ahead of time about a security threat to parents coming out with their kids to hear this book about love, kindness, family, and faith.
&#8220;There have been others the publisher has received for other story hours,&#8221; Cameron said.

Art Protest Leader Simone Cottrell <a href="https://www.facebook.com/sim1creates">shared on Facebook</a> a photo posing outside the library like a statue with a sign that read, &#8220;Where is Justice&#8221; and showing a children&#8217;s book that deals with sex.
Pro-LGBTQ Pastor Clint Snekloth <a href="https://www.facebook.com/schnekloth">shared tips</a> for &#8220;protesters at future Kirk Cameron book readings&#8221; warning them the event &#8220;will be triggering&#8221; and suggesting kids who were there with their parents are &#8220;currently in the cult.&#8221;
When pressed by the Daily Wire on what Cameron would like to say to those upset about his events or are planning to upset future ones,&#8221; the &#8220;Lifemark&#8221; star said that they would not stop him and Brave Books from hosting these story hours.
&#8220;An arthritic flea could more reasonably stop a stampede of wild elephants running to a mud bath, than a few sad, misguided individuals can stop the tidal wave of good families streaming in to join our fun, faith-filled, wholesome and patriotic Brave Books Story Hours,&#8221; Cameron said. &#8220;Early RSVP&#8217;s are in: Party-poopers will be outnumbered 100 to 1.
