FBI agents and airport police worked together to investigate after an unspecified threat caused officials to evacuate sections of Kansas City International Airport in Missouri on Sunday morning.
According to multiple <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/03/08/us-news/kansas-city-international-airport-evacuated-over-threat-as-fbi-cops-swarm-terminal/">reports</a>, hundreds of passengers were evacuated onto the tarmac as investigators closed one terminal, out of &#8220;an abundance of caution,&#8221; and diverted several flights, leaving others — who landed after the threat was received — stranded on the taxiway until they were given the all-clear.

The threat, according to reports, came in at 11:50 a.m. local time and prompted an immediate and complete evacuation of the terminal. Flights did not resume until after 2 p.m. In the interim, airport police and FBI agents conducted sweeps of the terminal.
Passenger Logan Hawley told <a href="https://www.kshb.com/news/crime/kc-aviation-department-aware-of-situation-at-kansas-city-international-airport">reporters</a> that he had been preparing to board a flight to Texas when law enforcement swarmed the terminal: &#8220;Suddenly there was an airport worker saying ‘immediately evacuate,’ people got up fast and rushed out of there.&#8221;
Highway traffic near the airport also faced delays as the Missouri Department of Transportation confirmed temporary road closures at Interstate 29 northbound to Interstate 435 eastbound and the KCI exit ramp.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the all-clear shortly after 2 p.m. CST, <a href="https://x.com/SecDuffy/status/2030723386511425750">posting</a> on X that the airport would be returning to business as usual. He did not give any details as to the nature of the threat or its resolution.
&#8220;The security incident at @Fly_KansasCity is now clear and normal operations are resuming,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I want to thank law enforcement including the @FBI for their timely response. The safety of passengers, airport staff, and crew members is always our number one priority @FAANews.&#8221;

Country star Zach Bryan, who is an outspoken Philadelphia Eagles fan, recently vowed never to return to Kansas City for a performance. 
“Where are all the three peat people from last year:/,” the singer <a href="https://x.com/zachlanebryan/status/1953888844342087704">wrote</a> in an X post shared on August 8. 
The 29-year-old recording artist was referring to the results of the Super Bowl earlier this year when the Eagles shut down the Chiefs as they tried to make NFL history by winning three consecutive championship games. 
“Go f*** yourself. You keep talking that sh** and yet tour here. Don’t come back,” one popular reply said.
This led to one person in the comments hitting back about the Chiefs’ record, saying that the singer has “singled out” the “same fanbase that sells out his shows.” 
Bryan chimed in, saying even though he’d been there before, he’d never come back to Chiefs territory.
“Please understand I will never play in Kansas City,” the musician wrote alongside a repost of the user’s comment.
“I’ll be about to finish my show and then get a taunting call if I play at that stadium,” Bryan added.
The same commenter asked him to “take us off your live album too,” which likely referred to one of the times he played there in the past. The song in question is most likely “Fifth of May &#8211; Live from Kansas City.” Bryan said he would do it.

Bryan wasn’t content to leave the online feud there. Instead, he posted several more statements, writing, “I missed it here guys let’s piss some people off.” 
“Bro all u have to do to piss off a chiefs fan is play a fair game of football,” the “Something in the Orange” singer added in a follow-up.
“Guys it’s okay to talk trash to each other about football [y’all] are weird as hell,” Bryan <a href="https://x.com/zachlanebryan/status/1953933950097010857">wrote</a> later.
While some Chiefs fans were annoyed by Bryan’s comments, other followers jumped to his defense.
“Amen,” one person wrote in reply to the singer advocating for trash talk amongst football fans.

Both the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals made their homes in Missouri in the 1960s. The teams won a combined six titles in the decades that followed, making Kansas City one of the most successful “<a href="https://sports.betmgm.com/en/blog/mlb/smallest-cities-with-mlb-team-bm23/">small</a>” sports cities in the United States.
But there’s an economic fight brewing over the teams, a fight between two cities of the same name: Kansas City, Missouri, and Kansas City, Kansas. 
The historic Kansas City sports franchises currently play in two of the oldest stadiums still used by professional sports teams. The Chiefs’ famed Arrowhead Stadium <a href="https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/oldest-nfl-stadiums">opened</a> in 1972, and the Royals’ Kauffman Stadium <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2025/05/31/oldest-stadiums-mlb-active-baseball/83964425007/">opened</a> a year later. But decades of the Chiefs and Royals playing at Arrowhead and Kauffman and calling Missouri home are at risk of coming to an end as plans have been drawn up for the teams to move just across the Missouri River to Kansas City, Kansas — and Kansas lawmakers are actively seeking to bring the teams across state lines. 
On Monday, what promises to be a heated special session began in the Missouri State Legislature. The special session will, in part, address ways to keep the teams in the state, such as funding for improvements to the Chiefs’ stadium and a potential new ballpark on the Missouri side of the border for the Royals. 
Missouri&#8217;s Republican Governor, Mike Kehoe, is fighting to keep both teams in Missouri, as their neighbors in Kansas have offered big stadium incentives for the Chiefs and Royals to move across the Missouri River.
But the Chiefs and Royals — and the stadiums that they call home — come with an eye-popping cost, a cost that requires help from government handouts. According to the <a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article307476771.html">Kansas City Star</a>, a new stadium for the Royals could cost over $1 billion, while renovations for Arrowhead could come with a pricetag of $800 million. 
The cost is worth it to the governor. According to Kehoe’s office, the Chiefs “contribute $575 million annually in economic value and over 4,500 jobs in Jackson County alone, bringing the State of Missouri nearly $30 million in annual tax revenue,” while a “new Royals ballpark district is expected to support 8,400 jobs and generate $1.2 billion in economic output annually.”  
In a statement to The Daily Wire, a Kehoe spokeswoman said that the governor “has been working for months to develop a competitive package to keep both the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs in Missouri where they belong.”
Conservative Republicans in the Missouri Freedom Caucus, however, don’t buy the governor’s economic estimations and don’t want to use taxpayer dollars for the benefit of billionaire owners. Instead, the Freedom Caucus Republicans argue that the state should focus on helping average Missourians with tax cuts. 
“I hate the thought of billions of taxpayer dollars going to fund bread and circuses, to be honest with you,” Republican State Senator Rick Brattin told The Daily Wire. “And that’s exactly what this is, especially when you see the Royals posting the ‘Pride’ stuff and totally disconnected from reality.” 
Brattin added that the Royals can “move to Kansas for all I care,” saying that the team’s games are “sparsely attended.”  
The state senator said his colleagues are prepared to negotiate with the governor to come to an agreement on tax cuts for all Missourians in exchange for stadium funding. He argued that incentives offered to the billionaire sports owners should be matched with tax cuts for average citizens. 
Some Democrats are also questioning the stadium funding, arguing that more money should be allotted for disaster relief after a major <a href="https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/wx/afos/p.php?pil=PNSLSX&amp;e=202505190006">tornado</a> struck St. Louis in May, killing five people and injuring dozens more. 
Paying for major stadium upgrades — or a new stadium — is a major cost for even the billionaire owners of sports franchises. In most cases, cities and states will chip in by offering government subsidies and tax incentives. The return on such a massive investment, however, is minimal for state and city governments, according to John C. Mozena, the president of the Center for Economic Accountability. 
Mozena told The Daily Wire in a phone interview that the economic projections on the stadiums touted by Kehoe’s office are “incredibly flawed.” 
“There is virtually nothing that economists agree on more than the idea that stadiums are terrible investments for governments and terrible economic development tools,” Mozena said. “The reason for that is really simple, it’s that stadiums spend almost their entire lives dark, empty, and silent. Most of the time, there’s nothing going on there.” 
Mozena added that a baseball stadium might draw up to three million people in a good season, which is “about what a single good-sized Walmart Supercenter might do.” 
“These are big facilities with a lot of infrastructure around them that barely ever get used and end up being economic black holes,” said Mozena.  
The stadium funding battle reignites a familiar fight, one that Missouri and Kansas once fought over Applebee&#8217;s. From the 1980s through the early 2000s, Applebee&#8217;s moved its headquarters from Missouri to Kansas and back to Missouri, lured by competing tax incentives. The economic “<a href="https://www.npr.org/transcripts/668790306">border war</a>” over Applebee&#8217;s ended when the restaurant chain moved to Southern California in 2023. 
The governor is positioning the war over the Chiefs and the Royals as another battle to keep jobs in the state. 
“Governor Kehoe views these efforts as important economic development retention projects, and believes Missouri’s proposal must be competitive to keep these major economic engines in the state, while also being a good deal for taxpayers,” his spokeswoman told The Daily Wire. 
Andy Roth, the president of the State Freedom Caucus Network, said the economic argument doesn’t add up.
“What’s particularly nuts about this whole thing is, by the governor’s own admission, they’re worried the Chiefs and the Royals are going to move 10 miles to the west,” Roth told The Daily Wire. “It’s not like they’re going to Seattle or Florida or New York. They’re literally just going across the road.”  
The economic border war over the two franchises likely won&#8217;t come to an end until at least the end of June as Missouri lawmakers seek to work out a deal with the governor. Kansas’ offer for the Chiefs and Royals is also coming off the table at the end of June, according to Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins, the Kansas City Star <a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article307452161.html">reported</a>. 
“If one of them wants to — or both — wants to come to Kansas, we’d love to have them,” Hawkins said. “We have the tools.”

The Justice Department announced Friday that a 19-year-old male college student had been arrested for allegedly setting on fire two Cybertrucks using two homemade Molotov cocktails at a Tesla Center in Kansas City.
The suspect, Owen McIntire, is charged with one count of unlawful possession of an unregistered destructive device and one count of malicious damage by fire of any property used in interstate commerce. Using surveillance footage and cell phone data, the FBI identified McIntire, who attends college in Boston, as the man who committed the arson.
“Let me be extremely clear to anyone who still wants to firebomb a Tesla property: you will not evade us,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “You will be arrested. You will be prosecuted. You will spend decades behind bars. It is not worth it.”
On March 17, a police officer <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/media/1397151/dl?inline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">observed</a> smoke near the KC Tesla Showroom and found smoke coming from a Cybertruck. The officer put out the fire outside of the vehicle, but was unable to stop the burning of the Cybertruck, which also spread to another vehicle. Both vehicles were worth over $100,000.
Surveillance footage from nearby residences showed a suspect near the scene of the crime &#8220;wearing dark flowy clothing and a large, white-colored hat&#8221; believed by investigators to be McIntire, according to an affidavit provided to show probable cause. The FBI eventually matched the car seen near the scene, surveillance footage, and witness testimony to McIntire.
McIntrire is alleged to have carried out the attack while home on spring break from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
Tesla facilities and vehicles across the country have been targeted with vandalism and arson as part of backlash to Elon Musk&#8217;s involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency. The Justice Department is treating the attacks as instances of domestic terrorism.
“This is the second arrest this week of a suspect charged with targeting Tesla, more proof that the FBI will not stand for these destructive acts,” said FBI Director Kash Patel. “These actions are dangerous, they are illegal, and we are going to arrest those responsible.&#8221;

The attack Wagner is accused of orchestrating did significant damage to the GOP headquarters in Albuquerque and burned out two Teslas.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas’ spokesperson has confirmed that the employee who doxxed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/harrison-butker" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harrison Butker</a> has “separated” from city employment.
The spokesperson said in a statement that &#8220;the employee has been separated from the City workforce for violation of City policy by posting outside the scope of authorized City communications,” KMBC News Channel 9 ABC <a href="https://www.kmbc.com/article/harrison-butker-commencement-speech-kansas-city-tweet-post-doxxing-fired/60885698">reported</a>.
“The City will have no further comment on the post or individual employees related to it,” the statement added.

The news comes following a post on X on its official city-run account that referenced where Butker lives amid attacks from the Left over his commencement <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chiefs-kicker-slams-biden-and-dei-in-commencement-speech">speech</a> to the graduates at Benedictine College — when he praised his wife for being a “homemaker,” called out President Joe Biden’s support for abortion, and criticized LGBT “Pride month.”

Over the weekend, Butker gave a commencement speech at Benedictine College, a Catholic liberal arts school in Atchison, Kansas, and criticized abortion, Pride Month, and pandemic lockdowns.

Members of the Missouri Freedom Caucus read Daily Wire host Matt Walsh’s children’s book “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Johnny-Walrus-Matt-Walsh/dp/1956007059" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Johnny the Walrus</a>” after Democratic officials in the state read a book that promoted transgenderism to children for “National Reading Day.”
A video posted to X by the popular account Libs of TikTok earlier this month showed the Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas, city officials, and council members reading “Introducing Teddy: A Gentle Story about Gender and Friendship.”
The LGBTQ book is written for children between the ages of 3 and 6 and focuses on a boy, Errol, and his teddy bear friend, Thomas. In the story, Thomas tells Errol that he feels like a “girl teddy,” and wishes his name was “Tilly.” Errol tells Thomas he “doesn’t care” if he’s “a girl teddy or a boy teddy. What matters is that you are my friend.” Thomas then puts his bowtie in his hair because he’s “always wanted a bow instead.”

Republican Missouri state Sen. Rick Brattin, along with members of the Missouri Freedom Caucus, responded to the Kansas City government officials’ video on Friday by posting a video of lawmakers reading Walsh’s bestselling children’s book.
“Recently, the Kansas City mayor and his goons are reading books to groom children, and we’re here to set the record straight and put a stop to this nonsense,” Brattin said. “And we’re going to do this by reading ‘Johnny the Walrus.’”

“Johnny the Walrus,” which was published in April 2022, focuses on a boy who believes he’s a walrus and his mother who goes along with her child’s desired identity, regardless of how crazy it sounds. Walsh <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/im-just-a-humble-childrens-author-matt-walsh-joins-tucker-to-discuss-amazon-employees-meltdown-over-his-book" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the book teaches children to accept who they are biologically, which is their true self.
“Johnny the Walrus” quickly became the number one best-selling book in Amazon’s “LGBTQ+” category, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/activists-demand-matt-walshs-johnny-the-walrus-be-removed-as-amazons-top-lgbtq-book" target="_blank" rel="noopener">outraging</a> LGBTQ activists who called on Amazon to remove Walsh’s book from the list. Some Amazon employees even held a “die in” to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/amazon-employees-disrupt-pride-ceremony-with-die-in-protest-over-matt-walshs-johnny-the-walrus-other-anti-trans-books" target="_blank" rel="noopener">protest</a> Walsh’s book, along with other books they deemed “transphobic,” being sold on the site.

The two adult suspects in the Kansas City parade shooting last week were both found next to 9mm handguns that were recovered by police at the scene, according to charging documents released Wednesday.
Two black men, a 23-year-old and an 18-year-old who will not be named per Daily Wire policy, were charged with second-degree murder in the shooting at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade that killed one person and injured over 20 others. Following the shooting, detectives found a Glock 9mm handgun next to the 23-year-old suspect who was lying on the ground injured from gunshot wounds, according to the <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/707190414/Chiefs-rally-shooting-charging-documents#from_embed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documents</a>, which added that a computer check of the firearm revealed it had been stolen.
&#8220;Detectives observed multiple 9mm and .40 caliber spent shell casings just north of the West Pershing Road &amp; Kessler Road intersection. A Glock 9mm handgun [redacted] was observed on the ground, in apparent blood, where [23-year-old suspect] fell on the ground after being shot,&#8221; the charging documents stated. &#8220;The magazine contained six (6) live 9mm rounds in a 15-round capacity magazine. There was a live round in the chamber. A computer check revealed the firearm to be stolen out of Kansas City, Missouri.&#8221; 
The 18-year-old suspect was tackled to the ground by a parade-goer who found a Taurus G3 9mm handgun on the ground next to him, the documents stated. 
After conducting an autopsy on 43-year-old mother <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/victim-in-kc-super-bowl-parade-shooting-identified-as-radio-dj-mom-of-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lisa Lopez-Galvan</a> and a ballistic comparison, officials determined that the bullet that killed her was fired from the Taurus G3 9mm. The younger suspect admitted that he possessed and fired the Taurus G3, according to the documents. 
The 23-year-old suspect is accused of starting an argument with a group of people during the parade last week before he allegedly pulled out a gun and began firing. He later <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kc-parade-shooting-suspect-released-from-hospital-allegedly-said-he-was-just-being-stupid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> investigators he was “just being stupid,” court documents stated.
“Stupid, man. Just pulled a gun out and started shooting,” he said, according to the documents. “I shouldn’t have done that. Just being stupid.”

One of the two adults charged with second-degree murder in the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade shooting has been released from the hospital and was booked at the Jackson County Detention Center.
The 23-year-old black male, who will not be named per Daily Wire policy, was treated for gunshot wounds. He is accused of starting an argument with a group of people during the parade last week before he pulled out a gun and began firing, <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/707190414/Chiefs-rally-shooting-charging-documents#from_embed">according to charging documents</a>. People in the group arguing with the suspect then allegedly pulled out guns and shot back. An adult male from the group that was allegedly shooting back has also been charged with second-degree murder. 
Police believe a bullet from the second suspect’s gun struck and killed 43-year-old mother Lisa Lopez-Galvan. 
The murder suspect who has been released from the hospital has a bandage on the right side of his face in his <a href="https://komonews.com/news/nation-world/kansas-city-parade-shooting-tragedy-suspect-released-from-hospital-admits-regret-kc-shooting-lyndell-mays-dominic-miller-lisa-lopez-galvan-jackson-county" target="_blank" rel="noopener">booking photo</a>. According to court documents, the suspect pulled out his gun and began chasing someone before shooting at him. The 23-year-old man told investigators he was “just being stupid,” court documents stated. 
&#8220;Stupid, man. Just pulled a gun out and started shooting,” he said, according to the documents. “I shouldn&#8217;t have done that. Just being stupid.” 
The family of the suspect created a GoFundMe for him while he was in the hospital, saying that he needed help getting through a &#8220;tragic time&#8221; following the shooting, The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/02/21/us-news/family-of-kansas-city-shooting-suspect-set-up-gofundme-for-him/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The fundraiser reportedly raised $100, but it has since been deleted.

Two adult males have been arrested and charged with murder in last week&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kansas-city-chiefs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kansas City</a> parade shooting where one person was killed and 22 others were injured, Missouri prosecutors said on Tuesday.
Each of the adults, who will not be named per Daily Wire policy, is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, ABC News <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/US/kansas-city-chiefs-parade-mass-shooting-2-adults/story?id=107379141" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Baker said that 43-year-old mother Lisa Lopez-Galvan was killed by a bullet fired by one of the adults who was charged. The murder charges come after authorities charged two juveniles with gun-related and resisting arrest charges last week.
Baker said that there appeared to be a &#8220;verbal argument&#8221; at the parade and &#8220;that argument very quickly escalated,&#8221; with one of the adult suspects pulling out a firearm and &#8220;almost immediately, others pulled their firearms.&#8221; The male suspects are in the hospital after sustaining injuries in the shooting and are being held on $1 million bond.
One of the defendants was charged on Saturday and the second was charged on Monday night. Both of their charges were unsealed by a court on Tuesday. The prosecutor didn&#8217;t detail if there is any relationship between the adults and the juveniles charged in connection to the deadly shooting. Both of the juveniles remain unidentified.
KC Police Chief Stacey Graves <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kc-shooting-had-no-nexus-to-terrorism-appeared-to-be-dispute-between-several-people-police" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> last week that authorities’ initial findings on the shooting “have shown there was no nexus to terrorism or homegrown violent extremism,” adding that it &#8220;appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire.&#8221;

Lopez-Galvan, the victim who was killed in the shooting, was a DJ for a Kansas City radio station and the mother of two children.
“It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally,” radio station KKFI said. “Our hearts and prayers are with her family. … This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community.”
