A federal judge in North Dakota on Monday stopped the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/biden-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden administration</a> from implementing a new policy that would make certain illegal immigrants eligible for government-backed health care coverage.
U.S. District Judge Daniel Traynor <a href="https://www.bloomberglaw.com/public/desktop/document/KansasStateofetalvUnitedStatesofAmericaetalDocketNo124cv00150DNDA/1?doc_id=X341THOR6K38NURUPN1CEL94VDR" target="_blank" rel="noopener">granted</a> a request to block a new policy from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that would allow individuals given Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) status to enroll in Obamacare. Traynor said that Kansas and the 18 Republican attorney generals who sued the Biden administration were likely to succeed and gave them a stay against the policy. 
Traynor said that CMS broke the law earlier this year when it <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/slap-in-the-face-biden-blasted-after-giving-certain-illegal-immigrants-access-to-gov-health-care" target="_blank" rel="noopener">changed</a> the definition of people “lawfully present” in the United States to include DACA recipients. Those with DACA status crossed illegally into America as minors with their parents and were shielded from deportation via an executive order from President Barack Obama. 
“The authority granted to CMS by the ACA [Affordable Care Act] is to ascertain whether an individual meets the requirements for lawful status. It by no means allows the agency to circumvent congressional authority and redefine the term ‘lawfully present,’” Traynor wrote. 
“As it currently stands, the ACA does not allow federal healthcare subsidies or coverage for aliens who are unlawfully present in the United States,” he added. 
Traynor also agreed with the Republican attorneys general that the policy would encourage illegal aliens to remain in their states with the draw of health care. 
The decision was praised by Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, who led the suit against the policy. 
&#8220;Big win for the rule of law. Congress never intended that illegal aliens should receive Obama care benefits,” he said. “Indeed, two laws prohibit them from receiving such benefits. The Biden administration tried to break those laws. But we fought back, and defeated the Justice Department.&#8221;

The other states that were part of the suit included Ohio, Idaho,  Nebraska,  South  Carolina, Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, New Hampshire, Kentucky, Texas, Florida, and Arkansas. They argued that the rule from the Biden administration was arbitrary and capricious, and would incentivize illegal immigration. 
In response to the ruling, CMS <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/5031527-federal-court-blocks-aca-coverage-for-dreamers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that it was reviewing the decision but could not comment further. 
The rule change was opposed by President-elect Donald Trump, with campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt decrying it in May as &#8220;unfair and unsustainable.&#8221; 
“Joe Biden‘s handouts for illegal immigrants are especially devastating to Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, and union workers who are forced to watch their jobs and public resources stolen by people who illegally entered our country,” Leavitt, Trump&#8217;s incoming press secretary, said at the time.
Last month, another judge struck down a parole program from the Biden administration that would have granted legal status to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants.

Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) introduced a bill Wednesday that would ban doctors from performing life-altering and irreversible <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender procedures</a> on kids across the country.
Marshall put forth the “<a href="https://www.marshall.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/KEN245791.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Safeguarding The Overall Protection of Minors Act</a>’’ to block doctors from giving kids puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, which can cause infertility, reduce bone density, and damage heart health. The legislation would also ban transgender surgeries for kids, including genital surgeries and removing the breasts of girls who identify as boys.
According to the text of the bill, doctors could be assessed a civil fine of up to $100,000 if they “knowingly perform, attempt to perform, conspire to perform, or provide a referral for any gender transition procedure on a minor.”
“Americans resoundingly rejected the Left’s dangerous transgender agenda. Let’s call it exactly what it is: child abuse,” Marshall, a doctor, said in a statement. “The days of demented doctors and activists getting rich off of mutilating, sterilizing, and castrating children are over.”
“Our legislation keeps children’s safety paramount by prohibiting anyone from performing, facilitating, or even conspiring to give these irreversible therapies and procedures to minors,” Marshall added. “This bill is just the beginning of what’s to come with President Trump at the helm and our unwavering commitment to protecting children from transgender activists’ twisted and criminal agenda.”
The proposed legislation would also allow anyone on whom a gender procedure was performed to sue in United States district court for proper relief. Additionally, the bill would authorize the attorney general to set up a grant program for individuals attempting to undo the impacts of transgender procedures.

Marshall has been an opponent of transgender ideology, previously introducing bills to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-sen-marshall-pushes-to-define-male-and-female-in-biological-truth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">define male and female</a> in biology and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-republicans-demand-who-chief-disband-activist-panel-on-transgenderism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushing back</a> on the World Health Organization’s embrace of transgender activists. His bill was introduced the same day that Tennessee defended its ban on transgender procedures for minors before the Supreme Court.
While over two dozen states across the country have moved to protect kids from transgender medical procedures, Republicans in Kansas have so far failed. Kansas Senator Roger Marshall on Wednesday introduced a bill taking aim at the core tenants of transgender ideology by defining “male” and “female” in terms of “biological truth.”
The “Defining Male and Female Act of 2024” would <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2024/11/KIN2463023.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">enshrine in law</a> the biological differences between men and women. The proposed legislation, which is backed by a handful of conservative organizations, says the definition is required to combat “increasing confusion about the definition of sex as a biological truth.”
Marshall reiterated that goal to The Daily Wire.
“As a physician who has delivered over 5,000 babies, I can confidently say that politicizing children&#8217;s gender to use them as pawns in their radical woke agenda is not only wrong, it is extremely dangerous. I didn’t think we would need legislation to tell us that there are only two sexes: male and female, but here we are,” Marshall said.
Marshall is the latest Republican to introduce legislation on this issue. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) this month <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/speaker-mike-johnson-makes-it-clear-a-man-cannot-become-a-woman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduced</a> a measure to keep men out of the women’s bathrooms in the U.S. Capitol. That bill would ensure that incoming Democrat Rep. Sarah McBride (DE), a man who identifies as a woman, could not use the same bathrooms as his female colleagues.
Marshall’s bill notes that “every individual is either male or female” and that “in no case is an individual’s sex determined by stipulation or self-identification.” It defines a female as “an individual who naturally has, had, will have, or would have, but for a congenital anomaly or intentional or unintentional disruption, the reproductive system that at some point produces, transports, and utilizes eggs for fertilization.”
It defines a male as: “an individual who naturally has, had, will have, or would have, but for a congenital anomaly or intentional or unintentional disruption, the reproductive system that at some point produces, transports, and utilizes sperm for fertilization.”
This makes a “man” an “adult human male” and a “woman” an “adult human female.” 
Marshall’s legislation is backed by Idaho Republican Sens. James Risch and Mike Crapo and Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS). Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) is set to introduce a companion bill in the House. Conservative groups including Heritage Action, Family Research Council, Concerned Women of America, and Alliance Defending Freedom also support the proposal. 
“We must codify the legal definition of sex to be based on science rather than feelings,” Marshall told The Daily Wire. “With our legislation, we can fight back against the Biden-Harris Administration’s assault on our children.&#8221;

An instructor at the University of Kansas has been placed on administrative leave after he was recorded telling his class that men who don’t vote for a female president should be shot.
The instructor, who has not been named, made the comments during a class earlier this semester – a video of which was posted to X on Wednesday morning.
“[If you think] guys are smarter than girls, you&#8217;ve got some serious problems,&#8221; the instructor said in the video. &#8220;That&#8217;s what frustrates me. There are going to be some males in our society that will refuse to vote for a potential female president because they don&#8217;t think females are smart enough to be president. We could line all those guys up and shoot them. They clearly don&#8217;t understand the way the world works.”

In a statement to The Daily Wire, the University of Kansas said the instructor had been placed on leave, “pending further investigation.”
“The instructor offers his sincerest apologies and deeply regrets the situation,” Erinn Barcomb-Peterson, the school’s director for news and media relations, told The Daily Wire in an email. “His intent was to emphasize his advocacy for women’s rights and equality, and he recognizes he did a very poor job of doing so. The university has an established process for situations like this and will follow that process.”

It is unclear whether the instructor would have made the same comments if the Republican presidential nominee was a woman. It is also unclear how he thinks voting for someone just because they are a woman is not, in itself, sexist.

With abortion in Texas being outlawed from the moment of conception, Amarillo has become an abortion trafficking hub connecting abortion-free states like Texas to abortion-access states like New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas. After much <a href="https://www.liveaction.org/news/betrayed-amarillo-sanctuary-unborn-vote-mayor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">back and forth</a> attempting to see their City Council approve such a measure, residents have now sent the <a href="https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/4b2b0d23-d175-4bfb-a8d9-71911a3ad695/downloads/amarillo-scftu-ordinance%20(12-29-2023).pdf?ver=1720027072861" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ordinance</a> to the ballot for voters to decide this November. 
The increase of Texas residents traveling out of state for abortion may be higher than one would expect. In New Mexico, abortion provider Amy Hagstrom Miller shared with <a href="https://www.kut.org/health/2023-06-23/abortion-clinics-in-neighboring-states-see-more-texans-than-locals?_ga=2.125522956.743985948.1713611032-1353710499.1713611032" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KUT News</a>, “Nearly all of the appointments made at Whole Woman’s Health in Albuquerque have been made by Texans.” 
In an interview with <a href="https://www.npr.org/2024/01/23/1226406595/after-texas-banned-abortion-one-doctor-moved-his-entire-practice-to-new-mexico" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Public Radio</a>, it was reported that 85% of abortion provider Alan Braid’s business at Alamo Women’s Clinic in Albuquerque comes from Texas. Braid told the news outlet that “abortion travel bans” like the one passed in Lubbock County and the one being discussed in Amarillo are having an impact on abortion centers throughout New Mexico. According to Braid, “They’re having higher no-show rates because people are afraid to drive through Lubbock and Amarillo.”

Alamo’s <a href="https://alamowomensclinic.com/costs-and-funding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> lists several abortion assistance organizations willing to help cover abortion travel expenses from Texas to New Mexico including Jane’s Due Process and Fund Texas Choice. Alamo has even advertised on their own <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Abortionclinicsanantonio/posts/pfbid02m4K1TFoiCgDpGqqLem61BzHWuCHQoyzuNGpEwBoZETBqQrtcVQirRYm72y3Yn1YAl">Facebook</a>, “Texas Teens – if you are under 18 and seeking an abortion, there is funding available. Abortions Care and all travel and expenses are FREE. Compassionate, Kind and Discreet staff. No Parental consent is needed in Albuquerque or Illinois.”
Colorado abortion provider Leroy Carhart IV revealed that 47% of his patients at <a href="https://carecliniccolorado.com/">CARE Colorado</a> in Pueblo were from Texas, while only 31% were from Colorado. Carhart also shared that Texans “most often arrive by car, driving in from cities and towns all over the state, whether making the 13-hour trek from Austin or a five-hour trip from Amarillo,” with some of the traveling costs offset by abortion assistance groups like the Lilith Fund or Jane’s Due Process.
In Kansas, <a href="https://www.plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-great-plains">Planned Parenthood Great Plains</a> president and CEO Emily Wales told <a href="https://www.kut.org/health/2023-06-23/abortion-clinics-in-neighboring-states-see-more-texans-than-locals?_ga=2.125522956.743985948.1713611032-1353710499.1713611032">KUT News</a> “around half of all patients at Planned Parenthood clinics in Kansas are Texans,” adding that the “heightened demand often surpasses the Wichita clinic’s capacity, and Texas patients are referred to the more distant Kansas City and Overland Park locations.”
The Amarillo <a href="https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/4b2b0d23-d175-4bfb-a8d9-71911a3ad695/downloads/amarillo-scftu-ordinance%20(12-29-2023).pdf?ver=1720027072861">ordinance</a> seeks to close six major loopholes in Texas abortion laws. It would further outlaw abortion in the City of Amarillo by adding, into local law, the following provisions:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Prohibit any person from procuring or performing an elective abortion of any type and at any stage of pregnancy in the city of Amarillo, extending the private right of action from the point of a detectable heartbeat to the point of conception. (Section 8-6-2) </li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Prohibit any person from knowingly performing an elective abortion or knowingly engaging in conduct that aids or abets an elective abortion if the abortion is performed on a resident of Amarillo, regardless of the location of the abortion, regardless of the law in the jurisdiction where the abortion occurred, and regardless of whether the person knew or should have known that the abortion was performed or induced on a resident of Amarillo. (Section 8-6-3)</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Prohibit any person from knowingly transporting any individual for the purpose of providing or obtaining an elective abortion, regardless of where the elective abortion will occur, as long as the transportation of such individual begins, ends, or passes through the city of Amarillo. (Section 8-6-4)</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Prohibit abortion-inducing drugs from being manufactured, possessed, distributed, mailed, transported, delivered, or provided in any manner to or from any person or location in the City of Amarillo. (Section 8-6-5)</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Prohibit criminal organizations who are violating federal laws prohibiting the mailing and receiving of abortion-inducing drugs and abortion paraphernalia from doing business in, or receiving grants from, the City of Amarillo. This provision recognizes any entity violating 18 U.S.C. §§ 1461-1462 by shipping or receiving abortion inducing drugs or abortion paraphernalia to be criminal organizations in violation of federal law. (Section 8-6-6)</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Prohibit any person from transporting the remains of an unborn child who was killed by an elective abortion from any abortion provider into the city of Amarillo, or to dispose of such remains from any abortion provider within the city of Amarillo. (Section 8-6-7)</li>
</ul>
In August 2023, Senators and Representatives from across Texas signed a <a href="https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/4b2b0d23-d175-4bfb-a8d9-71911a3ad695/downloads/SCFTU-Elected-Official-Letter-August-2023%20(1)%20.pdf?ver=1720027072895">letter</a> to support the passage of such ordinances, followed by a <a href="https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/4b2b0d23-d175-4bfb-a8d9-71911a3ad695/downloads/New%20Mexico%20Elected%20Official%20Letter.pdf?ver=1720027072895">letter</a> of support from Senators and Representatives across New Mexico. Of the five largest political subdivisions to pass Sanctuary for the Unborn Ordinances, four have provisions prohibiting abortion trafficking – making it the new “normal” for such ordinances. 
The path to victory in Amarillo will not be without challenges. Groups like <a href="https://www.womensmarch.com/">Women’s March</a> are on the ground and committed to doing everything they can to preserve abortion access from Amarillo into states like New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas. In fact, the Executive Director of Women’s March, Rachel O’Leary Carmona, moved from Brooklyn, New York, to Amarillo three years ago to “go where the fight is.” 
A <a href="https://www.womensmarch.com/initiatives/all-eyes-on-amarillo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">page</a> devoted to Amarillo on their national website reads, “Anti-choice, anti-democracy extremists and the politicians beholden to them are energized and emboldened by the overturning of Roe V. Wade. Highways are the next antiabortion target. Amarillo is just one Texas town resisting.” The messaging continues, “A new ordinance, passed in several jurisdictions and under consideration elsewhere, aims to stop people from using local roads to drive someone out of state for an abortion. We are mobilizing in the wake of this latest attack on women and democracy itself.”

Since last year, Women’s March has repeatedly sent out mass emails to their followers across the nation, encouraging them to do their part in discouraging the passage of the ordinance. 
One local organization fighting the ordinance is the <a href="https://www.amarillorfa.org/">Amarillo Reproductive Freedom Alliance</a> (ARFA), whose efforts have won praise both from Carmona and United States Representative <a href="https://twitter.com/ColinAllredTX/status/1771258876513403367">Colin Allred</a>. ARFA defines themselves as a “coalition of individuals, businesses, and organizations working to protect reproductive freedom in the Texas Panhandle.” Their website reads, “Our organization was founded in opposition to the Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn ordinance, which, if passed, would prevent our fellow Texans from helping a pregnant person get an abortion across state lines &#8211; even if the abortion occurred in a state where it is legal.” 
In March, ARFA’s members took part in a Women’s March rally outside of the Supreme Court of the United States when the high court heard arguments for the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. the FDA. While participating in that rally, ARFA member Lindsay London shared with the <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/03/26/protests-supreme-court-abortion-pill-mifepristone/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington Post</a> that she “has driven women to Albuquerque and Denver to receive a surgical abortion” and “provides resources for people to obtain mifepristone” in Amarillo. 
To add to the complexity of the battle, there is a concern that the District Attorney’s Office in Randall County (which makes up approximately half of Amarillo’s landmass) has been compromised. Aubrey Reinhardt Birkenfeld, the Assistant District Attorney for the county, has had a long history as a pro-abortion activist working for Planned Parenthood as a speaker and as a <a href="https://theintercept.com/2017/08/22/texas-seeks-trumps-help-to-defund-planned-parenthood/">patient advocate</a>. Birkenfeld has also volunteered with <a href="https://janesdueprocess.org/about/">Jane’s Due Process</a>, providing “intake and counseling of minors seeking a judicial bypass in the State of Texas” and partnered with organizations “such as TEA Fund, Lilith Fund, and West Fund to provide minors with financial assistance” for their abortions. 
One of the two co-authors of the ordinance, Attorney Jonathan F. Mitchell has expressed his willingness to represent the city at no cost for any litigation that may arise from the passage of the ordinance. Earlier this year Mitchell <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/supreme-court-hears-arguments-on-whether-trump-can-remain-on-colorado-ballot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">represented</a> former President Donald J. Trump in the Colorado ballot case before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach has become the second state attorney general to sue the pharmaceutical company Pfizer over the COVID vaccine the company provided.
On Monday, Kobach announced the lawsuit at a press conference in Topeka.
“Pfizer made multiple misleading statements to deceive the public about its vaccine at a time when Americans needed the truth,” Kobach <a href="https://www.kwch.com/2024/06/17/kansas-ag-kris-kobach-suing-pfizer-misleading-kansans-covid-vaccine/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
The lawsuit <a href="https://ag.ks.gov/docs/default-source/documents/2024-06-15-pfizer-complaint-(002).pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">states</a>, “Pfizer misled the public that it had a ‘safe and effective’ COVID-19 vaccine. Pfizer said its COVID-19 vaccine was safe even though it knew its COVID-19 vaccine was connected to serious adverse events, including myocarditis and pericarditis, failed pregnancies, and deaths. Pfizer concealed this critical safety information from the public.”

To keep the public from learning the truth, Pfizer worked to censor speech on social media that questioned Pfizer’s claims about its COVID-19 vaccine. &#8230; Pfizer must be held accountable for falsely representing the benefits of its COVID- 19 vaccine while concealing and suppressing the truth about its vaccine’s safety risks, waning effectiveness, and inability to prevent transmission.”

Kansas City doxed Harrison Butker on its official city-run X account on Wednesday after the Kansas City Chiefs kicker sparked controversy over the weekend.
Butker told college graduates during a commencement speech that his wife would agree that her life “truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.”
His comments drew swift backlash online, with critics branding him as misogynistic.
&#8220;Just a reminder that Harrison Butker lives in &#8230; &#8221; the city of Kansas City posted on its official X account, referencing the area where Butker lives.
The city then quickly deleted that post and put out another apologizing for the &#8220;previous tweet,&#8221; misspelling the word &#8220;apologize.&#8221;

Over the weekend, Butker gave a commencement speech at Benedictine College, a Catholic liberal arts school in Atchison, Kansas, and criticized abortion, Pride Month, and pandemic lockdowns.
“How many of you are sitting here now, about to cross this stage, and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world,” Butker said during his remarks. “But I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
He added, &#8220;It cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.”
The Catholic player also called out President Joe Biden, whose staffers have described him as a &#8220;devout Catholic.&#8221;
“Our nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but at the same time is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion rally,” Butker said during his speech. “He has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that I’m sure to many people, it appears you can be both Catholic and pro-choice.”

Butker&#8217;s comments spurred a torrent of criticism, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/harrison-butker-kansas-city-chiefs-backlash-benedictine-college-speech-rcna152433" target="_blank" rel="noopener">including</a> from several high-profile figures such as actor Bradley Whitford and rapper Flavor Flav. Other high-profile figures came out in support of his remarks, including former NFL wide receiver T.J. Moe and sports media personalities Clay Travis and Jason Whitlock.
A Change.org <a href="https://www.change.org/p/demand-the-kansas-city-chiefs-to-dismiss-harrison-butker-for-discriminatory-remarks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">petition</a> calling for the three-time Super Bowl champion to be kicked off the Chiefs for his &#8220;discriminatory&#8221; remarks amassed more than 115,000 signatures.
The NFL distanced itself from Butker&#8217;s comments.

A group of Republican attorneys general announced a new lawsuit against the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/biden-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden administration</a> over its changes to Title IX that would expand prohibitions on discrimination to include gender identity.
The 85-page <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2024/05/KS-Title-IX-Complaint-filing-copy.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuit</a>, filed by Kansas, Utah, Alaska, Wyoming, Moms For Liberty, Young America’s Foundation, and Female Athletes United, says that the rule politicizes the education system to “conform to the radical ideological views of the Biden administration and its allies.”
The Education Department, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, the Justice Department, and Attorney General Merrick Garland are all named in the suit. Conservatives have argued that Biden’s changes to Title IX will endanger state laws keeping males out of women’s sports, bathrooms, and locker rooms.
“If Biden has his way, a 16-year-old female high school student on an overnight field trip could be forced to share a hotel room with a biological male who identifies as a girl or the district would risk losing federal funding,” <a href="https://adfmedia.org/press-release/more-states-girls-sue-biden-admin-illegal-attempt-rewrite-title-ix" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach. “A 14-year-old girl could be forced to share a locker room and change in front of an 18-year-old man who identifies as a woman or the district could lose funds. It’s unconscionable, it’s dangerous for girls and women, and it’s against federal law.”
During a press conference announcing the suit, Kobach said that there were multiple concerns with the rules, including the intrusion of transgender-identifying males into female spaces, loss of due process for students accused of sexual misconduct, and expansion of benefits for students and school staff for abortions.

“Sports should be free of politics, we’re not injecting politics into sports, we’re keeping politics out because it is a pure, ideological crusade that is driving this attempt to change women’s sports,” Kobach <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/963297708765749">said</a> during a press conference.
The suit argues that Biden’s new guidelines violate federal law, as well as the First, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments.
“This unlawful rule also robs girls and women of their opportunity to participate in their school’s education programs and activities, especially athletics, by forcing them to compete with biological males,” the suit says. “It forces both boys and girls, in their most formative years, to sacrifice their privacy in personal spaces such as restrooms, locker rooms, and even overnight accommodations.”
A number of other Republican officials <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/more-states-file-flurry-of-lawsuits-against-biden-admin-over-transgender-title-ix-rules" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have filed</a> challenges to Biden’s Title IX re-write, including Montana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Idaho, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

More than two dozen Republican attorneys general announced challenges on Wednesday to the proposed gun control rule from the Biden administration regulating private firearm sales. 
Multiple suits were filed in federal court against the proposal, which would require individuals who &#8220;earn a profit” selling guns to conduct background checks and have a federal firearms license <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-harris-announces-new-rule-all-gun-dealers-must-conduct-background-checks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no matter</a> where or how they sell their merchandise. Republicans say that the proposed <a href="https://www.regulations.gov/document/ATF-2023-0002-0001#:~:text=921(a)(21)(C)%20as%20%E2%80%9Ca%20person,makes%20occasional%20sales%2C%20exchanges%2C%20or" target="_blank" rel="noopener">regulations</a>, put forth by the Justice Department, infringe on Second Amendment rights and would make it a felony for family members and friends to sell guns to each other without conducting background checks or having a federal license. 
One effort, led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, sued the DOJ and the ATF, arguing that the ATF doesn’t have the statutory authority to enforce the rule and that it violates the Second and Fifth Amendments. 
“Yet again, Joe Biden is weaponizing the federal bureaucracy to rip up the Constitution and destroy our citizens’ Second Amendment rights,” Paxton <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/news/releases/attorney-general-ken-paxton-leads-multistate-coalition-suing-biden-administration-over-unlawful-ban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “This is a dramatic escalation of his tyrannical abuse of authority. With today’s lawsuit, it is my great honor to defend our Constitutionally-protected freedoms from the out-of-control federal government.”
The suit was joined by Louisiana, Mississippi, Utah, the Gun Owners of America, the Virginia Citizens Defense League, and the Tennessee Firearms Association. 
A separate lawsuit, led by Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, also challenges the DOJ and the ATF. 
“Biden’s latest attempt to strip away the Second Amendment rights of Americans through ATF regulations will make many law-abiding gun owners felons if they sell a firearm or two to family or friends,” Kobach <a href="https://ag.ks.gov/media-center/news-releases/2024/05/01/kobach-leads-21-state-coalition-in-defense-of-second-amendment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “This rule is blatantly unconstitutional. We are suing to defend the Second Amendment rights of all Americans.”
Kansas was joined by Iowa, Montana, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Idaho, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody filed A third lawsuit against the DOJ and ATF.
The Biden administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-signs-most-expansive-gun-control-bill-in-decades-into-law-following-republican-support" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> it had proposed the rules to implement the “Bipartisan Safer Communities Act,” which added background check stipulations and gave grants for states to enact “red flag” laws. The measure, which was backed by 15 Republicans in the Senate and 14 Republicans in the House, was the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-signs-most-expansive-gun-control-bill-in-decades-into-law-following-republican-support" target="_blank" rel="noopener">most expansive</a> gun control law signed into law in decades. 
“The challenged rule, in fact, goes far beyond the plain text of the BSCA,” Florida’s <a href="https://www.myfloridalegal.com/sites/default/files/2024-05/atf-complaint_as-filed.pdf">suit</a> says. “It purports to force thousands of law-abiding gun owners to register as federal firearms dealers and navigate a federal bureaucracy as a precondition to engaging in constitutionally protected activity. The challenged rule is unlawful.”

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kansas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kansas</a> legislature failed to override the governor&#8217;s veto of a ban on transgender medical procedures for children after two Republican lawmakers flipped their votes on Monday.
The failed bill would have banned puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender surgeries for minors.
The state Senate successfully <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/29/politics/kansas-gender-affirming-care-ban-veto-override-fails/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voted</a> 27-13 to override the governor&#8217;s veto. However, the state House voted 82-43, just two votes short of the two-thirds majority needed to push the bill past the veto.
Two Republicans <a href="https://kslegislature.org/li/b2023_24/measures/vote_view/je_20240429191258_506548/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">broke ranks</a> and voted with Democrats to tank the bill. State House Representatives Susan Concannon and Jesse Borjon voted against overriding the governor&#8217;s veto even though both had previously voted in favor of the bill.
“We hear of bullying and ask authorities to make it stop,” Concannon <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiRN86RTFsw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> from the House floor. “We hear about mental health, about suicide, and ask why. We’re not listening to the impacted youth. Government involvement is not the answer.”
“I voted for this bill in the past due to concerns about the surgery,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;With further consideration, this bill is vague beyond the surgery. These decisions belong between the team of professionals and the parents. The youth need our help, not government overreach. To all who have reached out, I hear you, and vote to sustain the governor’s veto.”
The other Republican who voted against the bill, Borjon, <a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article288108015.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> he &#8220;strongly supports&#8221; prohibiting gender reassignment surgery and &#8220;limiting&#8221; the use of hormone blockers, but that some parts of the bill &#8220;go too far in restricting mental and behavioral health care for children.&#8221;

A Republican and physician who voted in favor, State Senator Mark Steffen, slammed the “woke health care system” for encouraging children to obtain medical gender treatments.
“Today I voted to protect our children from being mutilated,” Steffen <a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article288108015.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
Governor Laura Kelly, a Democrat, vetoed the ban earlier this month.
Kelly celebrated the legislature&#8217;s failure to override her veto in a statement Monday night.
&#8220;I am glad that bipartisan members of the legislature have stood firm in saying that divisive bills like House Substitute for Senate Bill 233 have no place in Kansas,&#8221; Kelly said. &#8220;The legislature’s decision to sustain my veto is a win for parental rights, Kansas families, and families looking to call our state home.&#8221;
Under the failed bill, children who were already on puberty blockers, estrogen, or testosterone would have been permitted to continue taking the drugs until the end of this year. However, their doctors would have had to come up with a plan to phase them off the drugs, as well as show that stopping the drugs immediately would endanger the child.
The bill would also have allowed people to sue doctors over transgender medical treatments for children. Doctors could also see their medical licenses revoked if they flouted the ban.
The measure would also have prohibited using state funds like Medicaid to promote transgender medical treatments. State employees would also have been barred from using pronouns that did not match a child&#8217;s biological sex.
Two dozen states <a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article288108015.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have</a> laws or policies restricting transgender medical services for children.
In Europe, the momentum is even greater against transgender drugs and procedures for children. England and several other countries have severely restricted medical gender transitions for children.
Both puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones come with serious health risks. Puberty blockers can <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/gender-dysphoria/in-depth/pubertal-blockers/art-20459075">affect</a> bone growth and density and cause sexual dysfunction, voice damage, and infertility, among other issues. Cross-sex hormones can <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/transgender-young-people-in-u-s-have-nearly-doubled-recently-report-shows" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cause</a> infertility, deadly blood clots, heart attacks, increased cancer risks of the breasts and ovaries, liver dysfunction, worsening psychological illness, and other serious conditions.

Kansas Ban On Child Transgender Medicalization Fails To Beat Veto After Two GOP Lawmakers Flip Votes

Four people have been arrested in connection to the disappearance of two Kansas moms who haven’t been seen in two weeks.
Tad Bert Cullum, 43; Cole Earl Twombly, 50; Cora Twombly, 44; and Tifany Machel Adams, 54, were taken into custody and identified as suspects in the disappearance of Jilian Kelley, 39, and Veronica Butler, 27, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/4-people-arrested-connection-2-missing-kansas-women-osbi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, citing the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI). The OSBI reportedly told the outlet that one suspect was arrested in Texas County in Oklahoma – where the women were traveling to pick up Butler’s children – while the other three were arrested in Cimarron County.
The suspects were booked into the Texas County Jail on two counts each of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and one count each of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree.
Adams is reportedly the paternal grandmother of Butler’s children, and they lived with her.
Less than 24 hours after the arrests, two bodies were found in Texas County, the OSBI announced on Facebook.
“Both individuals will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine identification, as well as cause and manner of death,” the OSBI said. “This is still an ongoing investigation.”
The OSBI has not said officially that the two deceased bodies are connected to Kelley and Butler’s disappearance, though they offered condolences to the families during <a href="https://fox59.com/news/national-world/2-bodies-found-in-rural-oklahoma-amid-search-for-2-kansas-women/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a press conference</a> on Monday. The two bodies were found in the area where law enforcement was searching for Kelley and Butler.
Kelley was traveling with Butler to pick up Butler’s young children in Eva, Oklahoma, but they <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/two-kansas-moms-disappeared-while-picking-up-kids-in-oklahoma-foul-play-is-suspected" target="_blank" rel="noopener">never arrived</a>. Their vehicle was found abandoned in Elkhart, Kansas, just a few miles from their destination, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said in <a href="https://www.facebook.com/OSBI.OK/posts/pfbid02RL17Ct1xfw5HmM9mHaEDLNch4Ah8JJZBt7xP1vvVE2zgpxHGzTDGKyk775K79axnl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a Facebook post</a> on March 31.
What investigators discovered in the vehicle has led them to suspect foul play is involved, the OSBI said in an update. The bureau has not released what was found.

The two women were traveling to pick up Butler’s 6-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son. Butler was reportedly involved in a custody dispute with the father of her children, Wrangler Cole Rickman, Inside Edition <a href="https://www.insideedition.com/evidence-in-car-veronica-butler-was-driving-when-she-and-jillian-kelley-vanished-points-to-foul" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Rickman had been released from prison, where he was serving a sentence for possession of a firearm, just a week before the women went missing. But Lauren Conlin, an independent journalist, spoke to Rickman’s grandmother, who said Rickman had been released from prison and ordered to go to rehab on the same day. She said Rickman was in rehab when the women disappeared.
“He [Rickman] was checked into rehab on the 22nd- 30 days no contact and cannot leave any outings from the facility for 30 days, and has to be there for six months. OSBI confirmed he was there,” the grandmother said, Conlin <a href="https://twitter.com/conlin_lauren/status/1775368832963502376" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> on X on April 2.
Rickman has not been arrested or charged in the disappearance of Butler or Kelley, but his mother was one of the four arrested in connection to the disappearance.

Democratic Kansas Governor Laura Kelly vetoed a bill on Friday that would have protected children from life-altering transgender surgeries, claiming that it trampled on parental rights. 
The Republican-backed <a href="https://legiscan.com/KS/text/SB233/id/2972770/Kansas-2023-SB233-Enrolled.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bill</a> would have banned surgical procedures like removing the breasts of girls who identify as boys and other genital-related surgeries. It also would have banned placing children on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, which have been linked to poor bone development, future fertility issues, and heart problems. 
“This divisive legislation targets a small group of Kansans by placing government mandates on them and dictating to parents how to best raise and care for their children. I do not believe that is a conservative value, and it’s certainly not a Kansas value,” Kelly <a href="https://governor.kansas.gov/governor-kelly-vetoes-bills-allows-one-to-become-law-without-signature/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a veto message. “To be clear, this legislation tramples parental rights.”
Republicans have supermajorities in both the state House and Senate, meaning that they could move to override Kelly&#8217;s veto. The legislation, Senate Bill 233, passed the House 80 to 40 and the Senate 26 to11. 
The legislation also would have authorized a civil cause of action against healthcare providers for providing such treatments, restricted the use of state money to back “gender transitioning,” and require professional discipline for doctors who did transgender procedures on kids. 
Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins <a href="https://twitter.com/DanHawkinsKS/status/1778897440323612732" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Republicans stood by ready to override the veto. 
“As we watch other states, nations, and organizations reverse course on these experimental procedures on children, Laura Kelly will most surely find herself on the wrong side of history with her reckless veto of this common-sense protection for Kansas minors,” he said.

Last year, the Senate <a href="https://kansasreflector.com/2023/04/26/senate-attempts-to-override-slew-of-vetoed-transgender-bills-but-care-ban-fails/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fell short</a> of overriding Kelly’s veto of a similar bill that would have banned transgender procedures on children. The legislature was able to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kansas-will-no-longer-allow-residents-to-change-gender-on-birth-certificates" target="_blank" rel="noopener">override her veto</a> on a bill that defined men and women on the basis of their “biological reproductive system.” 
According to the <a href="https://kslegislature.org/li/b2023_24/measures/documents/summary_sb_180_2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">law</a>, a “female” is “an individual whose biological reproductive system is developed to produce ova” and a “mother” is” a parent of the female sex.” The law also stipulates that “woman” and “girl” refer to biological females. 
In recent years, over 20 states have enacted laws shielding children from transgender surgeries, puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormone regimes. The groups have been opposed by leftist activists who claim the laws are discriminatory and violate the 14th Amendment.
