The entire media and the Left are filled with rage and anguish today — but not over Charlie Kirk’s murder.
Over Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension.
The outpouring of support for Jimmy Kimmel in the media is overwhelming.
Let&#8217;s start with the things we know about Jimmy Kimmel going off the air. Number one, Jimmy Kimmel&#8217;s ratings were horrifyingly low. Remember, he was a network television late-night host. And in 2025, only 1.6 million people were viewing his show, being broadcast for free on network TV across the country.
In the advertiser-coveted demographic model, ages 25 to 54, the decline was even more significant. Are you ready for this? In 2015, he had a million viewers in that age range. By 2025, he had, I kid you not, 261,000 people in that age range watching his show.
My <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/the-ben-shapiro-show">show</a> is multiple times larger than Jimmy Kimmel&#8217;s show. Over on Fox in 2025, Greg Gutfeld averaged 3.2 million total viewers, even though it&#8217;s on a cable channel. It’s not even network TV. When it comes to that 25-to-54 demographic, Gutfeld was averaging 381,000 people compared to 261,000 for Kimmel, meaning that Gutfeld was ahead of him by 46%.
So it’s quite possible that a bunch of local affiliates were simply done with Jimmy Kimmel. And when Kimmel decided that he was going to go on air and suggest that the shooter of Charlie Kirk was a MAGA conservative, they&#8217;d had it. Many of these station owners, these local stations, are not owned directly by ABC. They&#8217;re owned by local television networks or by a consortium like Sinclair.
Sinclair Broadcasting happens to be politically conservative in its orientation. There have been longtime rumors of Sinclair trying to launch its own form of Fox News, essentially with its own lineup. So it is perfectly plausible that Sinclair looked at what Jimmy Kimmel said and felt, “You know what? We&#8217;re done. We&#8217;re not interested anymore.”

What also happened is that the local affiliates went to ABC. They said, “We don&#8217;t want him on the air.” And ABC responded by basically saying, “If half of our affiliates don&#8217;t want you on the air, we&#8217;re just going to suspend your show because what else are we going to do? You have to provide them with some programming.” 
Sinclair announced it would yank “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from its stations until the host apologized directly to Charlie Kirk&#8217;s family and also donated to TPUSA, which, of course, was never going to happen. The company vowed not to return Kimmel&#8217;s show “until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network&#8217;s commitment to professionalism and accountability.” 
Apparently, Jimmy Kimmel had been planning to double down on his remarks.The reason he was abruptly pulled is because he was planning on doing another monologue the next night where he ripped into MAGA. 
According to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/09/18/media/ujimmy-kimmel-refused-to-apologize-after-charlie-kirk-outrage/">New York Post</a>:
<blockquote>Late night host Jimmy Kimmel said he was unwilling to apologize for his remarks that blamed MAGA supporters for killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk — and said he was going to double down on attacking President Trump’s backers before he was yanked from the air, according to new reports. Kimmel learned in a phone call from top Disney exec Dana Walden on Wednesday afternoon that his show was being removed indefinitely, Deadline reported, citing sources. During the call, Kimmel reportedly refused to comply with calls from critics and the owners of dozens of ABC affiliate stations for him to apologize. 
Kimmel felt his remarks required no apologies, another source told The Hollywood Reporter. The “Jimmy Kimmel Live” host also claimed that he was planning to call out his critics for the latest attack on him, all while trying to clarify his comments about Kirk’s death. &#8230; Disney, however, felt that if Kimmel had doubled down on his MAGA comments, the company would have been forced to make a more drastic decision than simply suspending the show, sources told Deadline. </blockquote>
From that fact pattern, it appears that the reason Kimmel was taken off the air is because of organic outrage by viewers, which filtered up to affiliates, and those affiliates went to Disney and ABC. And they said, “We are not interested in having Jimmy Kimmel on.” And Kimmel responded by saying, “I&#8217;m going to double down and attack your viewers.”
No tears for Jimmy Kimmel. 
But the Left has decided that this is the greatest assault on free speech in American history, which is totally crazy considering a man was shot to death for doing free speech one week ago, and they seem to care much more about Jimmy Kimmel being taken off the air than Charlie Kirk being murdered live on TV. 
Jon Stewart did a special <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/19/arts/television/late-night-jimmy-kimmel-suspension.html">weekday break-in</a> on The Daily Show. Of course, he did no such thing last week after Charlie was killed. No special episode about the importance of free speech after a person he disagreed with was shot to death in front of 3,000 people and countless others on the internet. No break-in for that.
But when his friend Jimmy Kimmel gets suspended from the airwaves, he does a break-in. He did a 23-minute monologue suggesting that the State was going to come after everybody on the Left.
Now, one thing I noticed about Jon Stewart is that he is not under that threat. If he thought he was actually under that threat, he wouldn&#8217;t have done this particular lecture.
So he showed up, and his shtick was that the background had been made up to look like a sort of Trumpian Mar-a-Lago. He was wearing a jacket and a red tie to mimic Trump, and a flag pin, so he could claim that he was operating under fear.
Jon Stewart is not operating under fear. Let&#8217;s be real. These were crocodile tears. He was not operating under the assumption that his free speech life is over in the United States. 
Stephen Colbert then <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/18/arts/television/jimmy-kimmel-david-letterman-stephen-colbert.html">came out and said</a>, “We are all Jimmy Kimmel.” What he really meant was, “I am Jimmy Kimmel.” Even if it turns out Kimmel was taken off the air because of FCC pressure — which I think is very, very doubtful — Stephen Colbert was not taken off the air because of Trump administration pressure. Paramount chief Shari Redstone pointed out that Stephen Colbert&#8217;s cancellation had literally nothing to do with anything government-related. He was taken off because he sucked at his job and cost too much money. 
Comedian Marc Maron <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/marc-maron-patton-oswalt-jimmy-kimmel/">hyperventilated</a>, “This is government censorship. This is the Trump administration coming after people who speak out against him. This is the end of it. If you have any concern or belief in real freedom or the Constitution and free speech, this is it. This is the deciding moment. This is what authoritarianism looks like right now in this country. It’s happening.” 
Oh my God, you can hear the jackboots at the door. 
David Letterman <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/media/tv/david-letterman-laces-into-trump-white-house-over-to-kimmel-suspension-an-authoritarian-criminal-administration/">emerged</a> from his house in the woods — where I assume he&#8217;s writing Unabomber journals — to go to the vaunted Atlantic Festival to talk about how this is a criminal and authoritarian administration. 
Chris Murphy, the senator from Connecticut, who for some weird reason believes that he is going to run for president, said <a href="https://x.com/ChrisMurphyCT/status/1969024042926547421">Kimmel’s suspension</a> was about Trump silencing his political opponents. He actually said the people should take to the streets, that there should basically be giant protests in favor of Jimmy Kimmel. 
After spending 60 years using the FCC to crack down on its own political opposition, it is hilarious to see the Left protesting about Kimmel’s suspension. 
For a solid couple of decades, Democrats were quite authoritarian in their approach to free speech. We all remember the Woke revolutions, where if you didn&#8217;t post a black square, you were in danger of losing your job. We all remember Barack Obama using the law to spy on James Rosen, the Associated Press journalist. We remember Joe Biden using the power of the government to crack down on major social media companies in order to get them to mirror his political priorities. We all remember Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling for more censorship. 
The Left is crying about Kimmel and free speech. 
It’s been hardly more than a week since America lost Charlie.

You can’t say Stephen Colbert didn’t try.
“The Late Show” host spent years spreading every anti-Trump narrative in the media. The “Very Fine People” speech. Russian Collusion. The Ballad of Stormy Daniels. Pee-Pee tapes. If it was critical of the president, Colbert pounced and seized.
True? False? Fake News? No matter. Colbert was on the case, weaponizing his nightly broadcast as an in-kind contribution to the DNC.
Except it didn’t work. Trump returned to the Oval Office earlier this year. And, now, Colbert won’t be around the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City to watch Trump complete his second term.

“The Late Show’s” cancellation sent shock waves through Hollywood. Supporters decry the decision, ignoring the cold, hard math behind the move. Reports say the show loses CBS $40 million (or more) a year.
Why would any business keep a show on the air for that price?
“The Late Show” became free therapy sessions for those who still can’t believe the country elected the real estate mogul – twice. They tuned in to hear their beliefs reflected back at them, aided and abetted by Colbert’s smug delivery.
It must have felt empowering to hear him call Trump Vladimir Putin’s [bleep] holster at the height of the Russian collusion scandal. Did it matter that it was all built upon a lie?
Apparently not. And Colbert never felt compelled to apologize for misleading his audience.
The Colbert we see today isn’t the one we were first introduced to on, where else, “The Daily Show.” His shtick at the time, expanded via “The Colbert Report,” was mocking a Bill O’Reilly-style commentator.
He excelled at the role, earning some respect even among right-leaning viewers. He put the funny first, much like he did as part of the “Strangers with Candy” sitcom years earlier.

He seemed a smart choice to succeed David Letterman on “The Late Show” in 2015, but he initially struggled in the ratings against “The Tonight Show” juggernaut. Then, Colbert found his inner Bernie Sanders and turned the showcase into a hard-Left platform.
The move paid dividends. “The Late Show” soon became the ratings leader before the rise of Fox News’ “Gutfeld!”
The shift didn’t help the show’s longevity. The bill has come due. Why?
He neglected to heed the Ghost of Johnny Carson. The late-night king knew well enough to mock both sides of the aisle and have fun doing so.
The joy seeped from Colbert’s performance. So did any sense of balance. Now, you’re as likely to see a “Pod Save America” host on his show as a Tom Cruise or Sydney Sweeney.
Progressive viewers may vote for Sen. Adam Schiff, but on a charisma scale of 1 to 10 he’s a 3, at best.
What happens next? Colbert vows to go down fighting, slamming President Trump with every sketch and monologue in his waning days. Oh, like he’s done the past nine or so years? The Legacy Media will <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2025/07/24/trump-epstein-files-late-night-hosts/85356533007/">amplify them all</a>, hoping to sway the public against Trump beyond their cartoonishly biased reportage.
Reporters will miss crafting headlines like this as much as they miss Colbert: &#8220;Late-night guys are giddy with Trump and Epstein jokes after latest developments.&#8221;
How can Colbert possibly do more to attack the Trump administration at this point? He can’t, unless he takes a page from “The View” playbook.
Unhinged conspiracies. Fear-mongering on steroids. Undisciplined rants that cause the studio audience to clap like seals and sane viewers to watch their jaws go slack. That’s all Colbert has left, and he risks losing whatever cultural heft he has remaining if he goes down that road.
Does he really want to start sharing “Legal Notes” like “The View” does to protect himself from lawsuits?

Plus, he’s only 61. Surely, he wants to keep working in comedy once “The Late Show” expires. He’s a natural fit for video podcasting, where the modest budgetary requirements all but guarantee his success.
Sane progressives will see right through any “View”-sized transition, meaning he’ll peel off some of his base along the way. Maybe the show will lose more than $40 million over the next 10 months.
The upside for Colbert’s late-night competitors? With “The Late Show” out of the way, they’ll be more progressive viewers for them to attract, at least on paper. No Colbert? Let’s see how Jimmy Kimmel is attacking President Trump today.
It’ll be a sugar high, at best.
Late-night TV is dying. Blame YouTube, the rise of funny social media accounts or comedians who actively chased away more than half the country with their polemics. Colbert is far from alone on that front. Seth Meyers, John Oliver, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel all lean to the Left. And they kissed conservative viewers goodbye some time ago.
“<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/5612703584001">Not good riddance but riddance,”</a> as Kimmel infamously said about his shift to the hard Left.
The format likely would perish with or without Colbert’s handiwork. We stopped collecting 8-track tapes some time ago, too. His Trump obsession, and fueling insults like “Clapter” to the lexicon, a term for jokes meant to spark applause, not laughter, made matters worse.
The biggest irony? While audiences no longer find Colbert’s shtick funny, a certain two-term president is having the last laugh.

As you know, I’m a simple man — not as simple as you obviously, but still, there are times when the issues of the day grow too complex for me to comprehend. And, in those moments when I feel lost and confused, then, just like you, I look for answers in the wisdom and moral insight of men like Hunter Biden.
For example, take the recent controversies over illegal immigration. In my charming, dimple-cheeked innocence, I always thought, hey, no one is above the law, illegal immigrants have broken the law, ICE is authorized to enforce the law, so what’s the problem? But then, I consult the wisdom of Hunter Biden, who recently said, (and this is a real quote) “People are really upset about illegal immigration? Eff you&#8230; How do you think you have food on your effing table? Who do you think washes your dishes? Who do you think does your effing garden?”
And, of course, when I realized it was illegal immigrants who put food on our tables and wash our dishes and tend our gardens, I immediately had my wife deported.
But Hunter Biden is not our only source of political wisdom in this crazy world. We can also turn to Hollywood actors. Because surely, if Hunter Biden’s life is an example of probity to us all, then Hollywood actors have many important ideas. Jeff Daniels, for instance, is an actor so talented, he can make even the most implausible characters seem vividly real, like when he played James Comey as an honest man. 
A shallow observer like myself, or even a shallower observer like yourself, might look at the second Trump administration and see massive tax cuts, secure borders so my wife can’t sneak back into the country, billions in tariff revenues, low inflation, no nuclear weapons for Islamists who believe the end of days will come just as soon as they get nuclear weapons, and you might think, wow, I’m sure glad I voted for Trump.

But not Jeff Daniels. Jeff says — and once again I’m not making this up. In fact, I couldn’t make this up — he says, “I still think about Kamala, and how I think she would have been a good choice. Because she would have done what Lincoln did.” And how can anyone disagree when you remember Lincoln at Gettysburg, when he said, “At what point do we uplift and highlight the consumer’s right to expect that the innovation would also be weighted in terms of solving their everyday problems, which are beyond my craving for Doritos.” Which Lincoln followed with that unbearable high-pitched cackling laughter of his. Or that might have been Kamala. I get them confused because Jeff Daniels can’t tell the difference.
And finally, after you’ve consulted Hunter Biden, and after you’ve studied the political thought of Hollywood actors, you can always turn to the searing insights of corporate comedians like John Stewart, who responded to the cancellation of fellow corporate comedian Stephen Colbert by saying, and once again, these are Stewart’s exact words, “Go eff yourself. Go eff yourself. Eff eff eff yourself. Go eff yourself.” 
Now friends, that kind of witty commentary on the news of the day, demonstrates the wisdom of having every single comedian hosting a corporation’s television show hold the exact same political opinion as every other comedian hosting a corporation’s television show, because if comedians with left wing opinions are not entitled to monopolize every single corporate comedy job in show business, that would mean that corporations should hire comedians with a range of opinions wide enough to entertain an audience large enough that their corporate employers won’t have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on network shows that get their asses kicked in the ratings by Greg Gutfeld on cable.
So in conclusion, if you ever find yourself lost on the winding road of life, remember, you only have to turn to an entitled, overpaid midwit spouting the received opinions of the Democrat party as if that were an act of daring or intelligence, and then you will truly know where our elites want the rest of us to go and what they want us to do to ourselves when we get there.

Remember Gov. Gavin Newsom’s French Laundry gaffe?
Many have likely forgotten, even though it showed the California Democrat as the ultimate hypocrite. The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/no-masks-all-indoors-award-winning-journalist-claims-22-people-attended-newsom-dinner-not-12-15k-bar-bill" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wannabe president dined, sans mask</a> with a large group at the height of the pandemic lockdowns.
No social distancing. No chance for Californians to similarly enjoy a carefree meal. He got caught red-handed defying his own rules.
That memory might have lingered if late-night comics or “Saturday Night Live” had parodied the moment. They had the material, of course. The jokes all but wrote themselves.
Instead, they collectively stood down. And other politicians followed Newsom’s embarrassing lead, from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pelosi-admits-breaking-lockdown-for-salon-visit-blames-business-says-she-did-nothing-wrong" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rep. Nancy Pelosi</a> to then-<a href="https://reason.com/2021/09/17/london-breed-san-francisco-mask-covid-hypocrisy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">San Francisco Mayor London Breed.</a> Comedy Nation looked the other way during those news cycles, too, and the American people suffered as a result.
Some of those same politicians won re-election post-COVID.
It’s why political humor has consequences. The right joke or comedy sketch can linger longer than a white paper or news headline. We laugh and then we think, and suddenly we’re looking at an issue in a new, startling way.
Even false political jabs can linger longer. Sarah Palin never said, “I can see Russia from my house.” Tina Fey’s Palin “Saturday Night Live” sketch character did, though, and people tied it to the real Palin.
Politicians hold considerable sway over us, yet they can be brought to heel by laughter. It’s why free speech matters and stinging satire leaves a mark.

Will we see comedians hold the politicians at the heart of the California wildfires accountable in the days ahead? If not, shame on them.
We’re watching gross incompetence in real time as thousands flee their homes and worry if they’ll be still standing upon their return. The raging fires are like something out of a Hollywood disaster movie.
It’s often unhealthy to score political points during a tragedy. At times, it’s unavoidable, and now is certainly the case.
We know L.A. Mayor Karen Bass cut $17.6 million from the city’s fire department budget. The progressive mayor wasn’t even in L.A. when the fires broke out. She was in Ghana on a political junket.
The optics couldn’t get much worse. Remember how “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gaqTdV4pqI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Saturday Night Live</a>” and late-night comedians mocked Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas when he was out of state in Cancun during a deadly cold weather front in 2021?  It’s hard to forget given the nonstop jokes on the subject.
Fair? Unfair? He probably thinks twice now before jetting out of town. What Bass and Co. have done to California is immeasurably worse.
Need more material tied to the fires? <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/karen-bass-ignores-questions-about-her-handling-of-devastating-fires" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mayor Bass literally stood silent</a> as a European journalist pelted her with tough but fair questions about the unfolding tragedy. Later, the Mayor tried to steer locals to a website where they could get more information, except during her speech she simply said “URL” <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/la-mayor-karen-bass-stumbles-through-presser-script-failing-to-share-emergency-information-website-address-this-can-be-found-at-url/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">and omitted the actual website’s address</a>.
More comedy gold for satirists speaking truth to power. An A.I. bot could probably crank out a few monologue jokes. Will late-night comedians bite?
So far, they’re <a href="https://latenighter.com/news/heres-how-the-late-night-shows-addressed-the-l-a-wildfires/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taking the high road</a> regarding the devastation.
Far-Left “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert kept the mood serious.
“We want to send our love and concern to all the residents of Los Angeles who are facing what is being described as the most destructive fire in the city’s history.”
The host of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” took a similar tack.
“The scenes we’re seeing on television are obviously harrowing, and there are no real words that I can share other than that we are thinking about you and we are hoping for your safety.”

That’s understandable … for now. Although, if a Republican governor was in charge the tone might be different. Might.
It’s what happens next that matters, and it could have political repercussions.
Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” won’t hold back. The Libertarian host <a href="https://x.com/greggutfeld/status/1877334892398129301" target="_blank" rel="noopener">already weighed in</a> via his X account, and his 10:00 p.m. show will likely do the same.

Another possible source of comedy? HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.” The long-running host has shown a knack for truth-telling regardless of party affiliation. He’s been a thorn in the Left’s side for several years, mocking progressives for their extreme culture war positions and woke overreach.
He’s based in L.A. and might skewer pols who have made the problem exponentially worse. He’s also a Climate Change alarmist and might focus on that angle, even if there’s no evidence climate change played a role in the catastrophe.
So far, late-night hosts are living down to their partisan reputations.
Rather than satirize Newsom or Bass — or others directly overseeing the city and state — they&#8217;re targeting President-elect Donald Trump for his rhetoric.
Both &#8220;Daily Show&#8221; host Desi Lydic and Meyers <a href="https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/late-night-hosts-mock-trump-response-la-fires-1236271464/">attacked Trump&#8217;s critiques</a> rather than the actions, or inactions, of key Democrats. That&#8217;s a sign it will only grow more one-sided from here.
Will Jimmy Fallon courageously skewer the politicians who let their constituents down? Colbert? Meyers? Kimmel? Stewart?

We’ll have to wait and see. If the past is prologue, these comedians will find a way to blame President-Elect Donald Trump for the crisis or avoid political name-calling in general. It may be up to YouTube-based comedians and podcasters to pick up the slack, and their social media platforms will only grow in response.
Too many modern journalists have refused to hold Democratic politicians accountable over the past few years. Just consider how many questions Vice President Kamala Harris has fielded of late over President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
Try zero, and that’s inexcusable.
It’s no laughing matter when mainstream comedians choose politics over the truth.

After the legacy media spent much of Monday condemning comedian Tony Hinchcliffe&#8217;s performance at the Madison Square Garden Trump rally, &#8220;The Daily Show&#8221; host Jon Stewart defended Hinchcliffe, saying he was just &#8220;doing what he does.&#8221;
Hinchcliffe fired off numerous roasts on Sunday night, including calling Puerto Rico &#8220;a floating island of garbage.&#8221; The comedian&#8217;s comment about Puerto Rico was criticized by people on <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/peter-navarro-mike-lawler-tony-hinchcliffe-inappropriate-trump-1976266" target="_blank" rel="noopener">both sides</a> of the aisle, and political commentators on CNN and MSNBC called it &#8220;racist.&#8221;
“There’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now,” said Hinchcliffe. “I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”
Stewart played a clip of Hinchcliffe roasting celebrities and athletes at Netflix&#8217;s Tom Brady roast earlier this year, which included jokes that many would consider far more controversial than his quip about Puerto Rico. While Stewart criticized the Trump campaign&#8217;s decision to feature a &#8220;roast comedian&#8221; at a campaign rally almost a week before the election, he said that he finds Hinchcliffe &#8220;very funny.&#8221;
&#8220;Obviously, in retrospect, having a roast comedian come to a political rally a week before election day and roasting a key voting demographic – probably not the best decision by the campaign politically,&#8221; Stewart said. &#8220;But to be fair, the guy is really just doing what he does.&#8221;
&#8220;I mean, bringing him to a rally and have him not do roast jokes, that would be like bringing Beyoncé to a rally and not &#8230; oh,&#8221; he added, referring to the outrage over the Kamala Harris campaign inviting Beyoncé to its campaign rally in Houston last week but not having her perform.

After the rally at Madison Square Garden, the Trump campaign distanced itself from Hinchcliffe&#8217;s Puerto Rico comment, saying in a statement, “This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”
Former White House official Peter Navarro, a Trump backer, blasted Hinchcliffe&#8217;s joke, calling it &#8220;double stupid.&#8221;

Hinchcliffe was also condemned by Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz and far-Left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Comedian Jon Stewart slammed Democrats this week for the hypocrisy that was on display at the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/democratic-national-convention" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Democratic National Convention</a> (DNC).
Stewart made the remarks on Comedy Central&#8217;s &#8220;The Daily Show&#8221; on Thursday night following the convention&#8217;s conclusion.
&#8220;At their convention, they had union leaders and C.E.O.s. They had Democratic Party icons and lifelong Republicans,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They had a guy yelling, ‘Screw the billionaires!’ followed immediately by a very happy billionaire.&#8221;
Stewart was referencing attacks from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and the subsequent remarks from Illinois Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker, who is a billionaire.
&#8220;It&#8217;s all okay if it’s our billionaire,&#8221; Stewart mockingly said of the Democrats. &#8220;I don’t like billionaires, but he’s all right.&#8221;
Stewart then slammed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for mocking Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) for going to Yale while Democrats had multiple Yale graduates speak — including former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Chris Coons (D-DE), and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) — which Stewart included in a graphic on the screen.
&#8220;The Democrats had people who prosecuted sexual predators,&#8221; Steward said, showing a photo of Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.

Billionaire leftist Mark Cuban and comic Jon Stewart mocked X CEO Elon Musk on The Daily Show after his interview with former President Donald Trump, prompting Musk to demolish them in return.
“I mean, look at Elon, right?&#8221; Cuban began. “Elon, in being one of the most powerful people, he’s trying to be the most influential man in the world — it sounds like a commercial — but literally, that’s what Twitter has given him.”
“I’ve gotta say, I think he might be that,” Stewart opined. “I don’t even think he’s trying to be. When you talk about somebody who is setting up satellite links for war zones and also controlling discourse in the most important media platform, he is the most powerful.”

Cuban then accused Musk of putting his “thumb” on the proverbial scale to influence Twitter, now known as X, musing, “Cause Twitter is in almost every country, right? And so Twitter gives him the ability to connect to the prime minister, the head of every country in the world. And that person, whoever’s in charge of that country, has an interest in what happens on Twitter, and what happens on Twitter, because of the control of the algorithms, being the biggest user, is all dependent on Elon Musk. He literally, wherever his thumb wants to go, he gets to push as hard as he wants.”
“I think he’s very clear that civil war is inevitable, and that white people are under the gun,” Stewart said,
“Frightening, concerning,” Cuban guffawed, then opened the door for Musk to pulverize his argument, saying, “When you write an algorithm — I haven’t written a lot, it’s been a while — but when you write one, you get to set the parameters of what you want to see happen. And he certainly has done that to the things he likes.”

It only took three-plus years for late-night comedians to do their jobs – i.e. mock President Joe Biden.
Satirists looked the other way while the elderly leader racked up enough viral video gaffes to fuel a dozen YouTube channels.
Now, finally, late-night is addressing the elephant in the electoral room. Call it the ultimate heel pivot.
All it took was an unedited, 90-minute forum where Biden couldn’t fall back on notes, a teleprompter or a subservient reporter.
Biden is suffering from an undisclosed medical matter that’s left him quiet, frail and unable to complete his thoughts.
Or, as Bill Maher recently quipped, the president “famously loves trains but apparently not of thought.”
In Maher’s defense, he hasn’t been as overtly captured as his late-night peers. If Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon and Jon Stewart aren’t reading DNC press releases to the letter, there’s a solid plagiarism case afoot.

“The Tonight Show’s” Jimmy Fallon is the least political animal of the lot, but even he has treated Biden’s obvious condition with a cheeky, “Nothing to see here, folks” attitude.

He still played up Biden’s age over comments about his mental failings in his first appearances since the June 27 debate. A typical Fallon barb? He said Democrats plan to ape a 2009 Pixar film.

The satirical kill shot? Colbert summoned Trump’s favorite nickname for the current Commander in Chief.
“I guess you could say he’s … Sleepy Joe,” he added, wincing for his audience’s consideration.
“Late Night with Seth Meyers” channeled more fury than anything else in its first original show since the debate. Meyers, nastier than his old “Saturday Night Live” persona, couldn’t deny what Biden’s debate performance revealed.

Nor could he make anything comical from those revelations, including plans to shrink Biden’s work day akin to a cranky toddler’s schedule.
“Your plan to calm fears about his age is an earlier bedtime? Are you hoping we’ll forget he’s 81 if you treat him like he’s 5½?”
The host wasn’t angry that the media covered up Biden’s frail state. Nor did he complain that Team Biden did the same so effectively. Instead, he raged against Biden’s interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
&#8220;This isn’t about how you feel. This is about how voters feel. If you truly believe that American democracy is at stake – and it is – then you have to act like it.”
Jon Stewart, the old/semi-regular “Daily Show” host, added his own sense of outrage to the Democrats’ plight.
“He’d been home for almost two weeks. He was jet-lagged? How big is that f***ing jet? The point is, for a campaign based on honesty and decency, the spin about the debate appears to be blatant bulls***. And the redemption tour hasn’t gotten that much better.”
He <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2024/07/11/jon-stewart-joe-biden-debate-trump/74365788007/">doubled down via his “Weekly Show” podcast</a>.
&#8220;Joe Biden has run on this idea of honesty and decency, but they have not been honest about the condition and the difficulties that he has been facing .. And so it undercuts one of the foundational arguments that they even have made.&#8221;
Freed from his Comedy Central perch, he dug further in, speaking for Americans who bought the media’s lies fed to them by Biden, Inc. 
&#8220;I have been stunned and disappointed and angered by what I saw, and how I&#8217;ve been talked to that I didn&#8217;t see what I saw.&#8221;

If Stewart had perused The Daily Wire over the past three years he’d have learned Biden’s decline is old news.
Let’s be clear about late-night’s sudden about face. The comic hosts want to defeat Trump in November. They realize a diminished Biden has little chance of retaining the White House.
Now, it’s time to usher the aging leader off the stage.
It’s why they, along with the press corps, suddenly started doing their jobs again after a three-year nap.
Not everyone has abdicated their duties as politically astute comics. Kyle Dunnigan of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/mr-birchum" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mr. Birchum</a>” fame has been skewering President Biden for some time now. His withering sketches, alternately goofy and cutting, reveal a Biden that’s familiar to those who didn’t buy the media’s “cheap fake” narratives.
Joe Rogan’s Spotify podcast has roasted Biden’s mental decline, one of many reasons the show’s popularity remains sky high.
Even Dana Carvey, whose political impressions aren’t mean spirited, mocked Biden via his “Fly on the Wall” podcast.
It’s called “speaking truth to power,” a late-night host’s number-one duty. Sadly, once Democrats determine an election year plan, they’ll forget it all over again.

“The Daily Show” host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jon-stewart">Jon Stewart</a> sounded off with some strong opinions about President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden">Joe Biden</a>’s debate performance and his chances of winning his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/2024-election">re-election bid</a> in November.
The 61-year-old political commentator began by lamenting how long of a time there is between primaries and elections in America, which is different from European countries. 
“Four months is for-f***ing-ever!” Stewart said during his <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9LZXheHddI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">monologue</a> in Monday&#8217;s show.
Unlike other Hollywood figures — notably <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/even-meathead-rob-reiner-says-its-time-for-joe-biden-to-step-down">Rob “Meathead” Reiner</a> and leftist novelist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leftist-author-stephen-king-says-biden-should-bow-out-of-race">Stephen King</a> — the host didn’t explicitly say Biden should end his campaign or resign. But he did say a dialogue should take place following Biden’s shaky debate performance last month.
“Can’t we stress test this candidacy?” Stewart continued. “Can’t we open up the conversation? Do you understand the opportunity here? Do you have any idea how thirsty Americans are for any hint of inspiration or leadership, and a release from this choice [between] a megalomaniac and a suffocating gerontocracy?”
“The debate was a shocking display of cognitive difficulty,” the “Daily Show” host continued. “Recognizable to, unfortunately, anybody who’s dealt with aging parents — and it’s a hard watch.”
Stewart went on to claim that former President Donald Trump performed as expected during the debate, which only served to highlight Biden’s incompetency — in his opinion.
“The difference is Trump delivered at the debate to expectation. We expect him to be f***ing crazy. But Biden’s performance, and inability to articulate at times, was stunning. I could not believe what I was watching… But then it got worse,” Stewart went on.
He said, “Rather than respecting the American people and having an honest, at least partial conversation about what we had all seen, we were told immediately, ‘these are not the droids you’re looking for.’”
“Authoritarianism and Donald Trump aren’t the only threats our democracy faces&#8230; ‘Get on board or shut the f*** up’ is not a particularly compelling pro-democracy bumper sticker,” he continued in the monologue.
Stewart pushed back against critics who claimed there wasn’t enough time to replace Biden as the Democratic candidate, citing European elections as examples. 
“Britain just held an election in two months. France had two in one month, defeated fascism and still had time to have an affair with Denmark… Four months. It’s 119 days,” the “Daily Show” host insisted.
The commentator continued, “On Tuesday, the winners could move on to the next round and then face Biden… Thursday, the party emerges, energized, unified, sanctified. You could televise the entire proceeding for four days.”
He concluded the monologue saying, “So, feel free to ignore any obvious weaknesses in your team’s existential fight for freedom and democracy, and then just white-knuckle this thing till November. Or take the advice of your own candidate.” 
Stewart went on to play a clip of Biden mentioning that there were &#8220;about fifty&#8221; Democrats who could defeat Trump.

Jon Stewart Suggests Dems Could Replace Biden, Uses Europe As Example

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jon-stewart" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jon Stewart</a> fashions himself a court jester, but often he’s just a fool.
Consider his bewildering take on cancel culture, which the press often cites with either scare quotes or prefaced by “so-called.”
There’s nothing imaginary about it.
Tell that to Stewart, who in 2021 <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/jon-stewart-believes-cancel-culture-is-a-myth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed it was just a myth, a mirage</a>. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.
<blockquote>People that talk about cancel culture never seem to shut the f*** up about it…Like, there’s more speech now than ever before. It’s not ‘you can’t say it,’ it’s that when you say it—look, the internet has democratized criticism. What do we do for a living—we talk s***, we criticize, we postulate, we opine, we make jokes, and now other people are having their say. And that’s not cancel culture, that’s relentlessness. We live in a relentless culture. And the system of the internet and all those other things are incentivized to find the pressure points of that and exacerbate it.</blockquote>
Roseanne Barr would like a word. She might be the most infamous cancel culture victim, her career and signature show erased for one racially charged tweet for which she immediately apologized.
Or four rebel comics canceled by a Seattle comedy club for <a href="https://mynorthwest.com/3952217/rantz-seattle-comedy-club-canceled-comics-over-offended-activists/#:~:text=Rantz%3A%20Seattle%20comedy%20club%20canceled%20comics%20over%20offended%20activists&amp;text=A%20Seattle%20comedy%20club%20canceled,community%20activists%20and%20progressive%20comics." target="_blank" rel="noopener">telling the “wrong” jokes</a>.
Or a white male comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/no-joke-white-comic-terror-on-the-prairie-actor-sues-talent-agency-alleging-discrimination" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allegedly canceled by his management</a> for being a white male comedian.
Or a conservative comedian allegedly <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/steve-mcgrew-brad-garrett-trump-fired/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">canceled by a comedy club</a> for being a conservative comedian.
Or the jokes never told because <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/desus-mero-self-censor-cancel-culture/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comedians censor themselves</a> to avoid cancellation.
Or sitcoms memory holed for <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/23/entertainment/30-rock-episodes-blackface-trnd/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blackface-themed gags</a>. Or a beloved episode of “Fawlty Towers” <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-53032895" target="_blank" rel="noopener">temporarily shelved by the BBC</a> for racist language. The bit in question mocked racism, but never mind.
Both shows and humans get canceled by the mob, and Stewart pretended it didn’t exist.
His talking points had a short shelf life.
Later that same year, Stewart defended fellow comedian Dave Chappelle after cancel culture came for him. Chappelle’s Netflix special “The Closer” featured jokes targeting the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dave-chappelle-on-meeting-trans-activists-they-wanted-to-incite-violence-against-themselves-for-publicity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trans community</a>, along with a longer bit that paid homage to a late trans comic. His white-hot career and legacy seemed on the verge of collapse.
The media savaged his shtick. Netflix employees picketed their own company. 
Stewart <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2021/10/21/jon-stewart-dave-chappelle-never-hurtful-need-better-communication-netflix-trans/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rushed to his pal’s defense</a>.
<blockquote>…. he’s one of my favorite people on the planet and he’s just a good, decent… – you know, if there is any miscommunication, I’m sure that – I love that dude, like as a person.</blockquote>

Stewart thought added context could save Chappelle. He forgot the Barr example.
She has said she went out of her way to hire minority writers on “Roseanne” to improve the show’s diversity. Former “Roseanne” scribe Norm Macdonald backed up that claim. That context couldn’t save her career from cancel culture.
Chappelle’s special could have been canceled by Netflix. Few would have been surprised by that turn of events and imagine the chilling impact it might have had on his fellow comedians.
Gosh, if the comedy GOAT like Chappelle can be canceled, what about his peers?
Shockingly, Netflix stood tall and defended the comedian.
Cancel culture was real then. It’s real now. Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker can tell us all about it, from the Change.org petition <a href="https://www.change.org/p/demand-the-kansas-city-chiefs-to-dismiss-harrison-butker-for-discriminatory-remarks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demanding the team fire him</a> for his pro-Catholic views to sports scribes <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/kc-chiefs-fire-harrison-butker-154028688.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">echoing those demands.</a>
Stewart picked an odd time to re-engage with the cancel culture conversation. He did it, of course, to smite Donald Trump and the Right.

The former and current “Daily Show” host once dabbled in bipartisan yuks. Now, those moments are increasingly rare. He’s more akin to the Colbert School of Comedy. Propaganda, not satire.
Case in point: <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/jon-stewart-daily-show-trump-cancel-culture-1235905423/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">He brought up Butker’s imbroglio</a> to once again claim cancel culture is about accountability, not punishment. Why a Catholic must be held accountable for sharing Catholic beliefs at a Catholic college wasn’t cited in his rant.
He once again summoned his favorite strawman, that we’re “surrounded by and inundated with more speech than has ever existed in the history of communication” to deny cancel culture’s existence. Yes, but that doesn’t negate the chilling effects cancel culture has on both comedy and the culture at large.
He doubled down, saying cancel culture doesn’t exist. It’s just a <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/culture/article/2024/may/21/jon-stewart-trump-cancel-culture" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cudgel wielded by the Right.</a>
<blockquote>Because the idea that there is an all-pervasive, all-powerful threat to free speech called ‘cancel culture’ has become a central tenet of modern conservatism. They celebrate their being silenced at conferences. They celebrate their being silenced on podcasts and streaming outlets. They celebrate their being silenced with over 700 book titles about ‘being canceled’. Why are there so many of these f***ing books?</blockquote>
Stewart pivoted to Orange Man Bad to placate the show’s clapping seals. Turns out the real cancel culture is happening on the Right, and it’s all Trump’s fault.
<blockquote>Anyone who dares speak out against him, or refuses to buy into Trump’s stolen election claims, you’ll lose your job like Liz Cheney or countless others…In fact, everything the right says cancel culture does to them is actually being done by MAGA.</blockquote>
Countless others? How are political realities the same as cancel culture? Wasn’t Cheney’s plight the most extreme example of a politician betraying her own party over and again and being voted out of office?
It’s deflection. It’s insincere. And it ignores the obvious truth. Cancel culture is a product of the Left.
Why would Stewart deny it? Because he’s felt the Left’s wrath more than once, and he knows he better steer clear of it if he still wants to keep peddling jokes on fancy TV shows.
In 2021 Stewart enraged the Left by saying, on “The Late Show” no less, that COVID likely came from the lab where the virus originated. He was shocked by the <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/how-dare-i-jon-stewart-reflects-on-lab-leak-theory-blowback/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fallout from that comic rant.</a>
<blockquote>My bigger problem with that was I thought it was a pretty good bit that expressed kind of how I felt, and the two things that came out of it were I’m racist against Asian people, and how dare I align myself with the alt-right.</blockquote>
Sounds not-so-MAGA like.
More recently, he returned to “The Daily Show” and admitted that President Joe Biden is old, frail, and far from a strong candidate for re-election. The backlash from the Left was ferocious.
He’s been Colbert-like on the show ever since. That’s the best way to keep cancel culture off your back, and he knows it.

Jon Stewart Doubles Down, Says Trump Is Source Of Cancel Culture

Jon Stewart, who once pronounced, “The thing about a moral compass is you take it out and check it from time to time. You don&#8217;t have to wait for history to show you you&#8217;re headed in the wrong direction,” and also mocked Donald Trump over accusations that he inflated the value of his real estate, has been blasted after news broke that he allegedly overvalued his own New York City penthouse by an enormous 829%.
Stewart, 61, said on “The Daily Show” on Monday night, “The attorney general of New York knew that Trump’s property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued the very same properties. It was all part of a very specific real estate practice known as lying.”
But then it was reported that Stewart allegedly overvalued his New York City penthouse, which he sold in 2014 for <a href="https://nypost.com/2014/11/06/jon-stewart-sells-his-tribeca-duplex-for-17-5m/">$17.5 million</a>.
According to 2013-2014 assessor records obtained by <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/27/real-estate/jon-stewart-found-to-have-overvalued-his-nyc-home-by-829/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=nypost" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Post</a>, Stewart&#8217;s property had an estimated market value of only $1.8 million, and &#8220;the actual assessor valuation was even lower, at $847,174,&#8221; according to the outlet.
The Post added, “Records also show that Stewart paid significantly lower property taxes, which were calculated based on that assessor valuation price — precisely what he called Trump out for doing in his<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDMinX6t1Zk"> Monday monologue.</a>”

The Post also noted that the New York assessor valuation on Stewart’s penthouse was the same citation method and metric that was utilized by New York Attorney General Letitia James to assess Trump’s private and personal properties.
Stewart <a href="https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/stewart-trump-fraud-trial-victimless-b2518916.html">vented some more</a> on Monday night, saying:

I will guarantee you, there are not just financial consequences for those lies, but criminal ones &#8230;
But don’t tell that to the investment community, because in their minds, in pursuit of profit, there is no rule that cannot be bent, there is no principle that cannot be undercut, as long as you and your f***ing friends make money.

During Stewart&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="https://x.com/CBSMornings/status/1757052774036967799?s=20">CBS Mornings</a>&#8221; appearance on Monday, he said returning to the show would give him a &#8220;place to unload thoughts as we get into this election season.&#8221; He will host on Monday nights through the 2024 presidential election, beginning February 12.
The move comes after Apple TV+ and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jon-stewarts-latest-talk-show-comes-to-an-end-following-creative-differences-report">Stewart</a> decided to part ways after two seasons of &#8220;The Problem With Jon Stewart&#8221; over creative differences, <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/jon-stewart-daily-show-return-apple-exit-interview-1235822509/">The Hollywood Reporter</a> noted.
&#8220;I thought I was going to do it over at — they call it Apple TV+,” Stewart said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a television enclave, very small. It&#8217;s like living in Malibu. They decided, they felt that they didn&#8217;t want me to say things that might get me in trouble.&#8221;
Stewart admitted he&#8217;s unsure if his return could influence the election and joked, &#8220;Who better to comment on this election than someone who truly understands two aging men past their prime?&#8221;

&#8220;&#8230;but I&#8217;m hoping to have a catharsis and a way to comment on things and a way to express them that hopefully people will enjoy,&#8221; Stewart said. &#8220;But as far as influence, and you guys know this from doing this, just about everything I had wanted to happen over the 16 years that I was at &#8216;The Daily Show&#8217; did not happen, if you were hoping for influence.&#8221;
 &#8220;And I think I&#8217;ve learned that post-&#8216;Daily Show&#8217; … I don&#8217;t really view it as I really want to have an influence on this issue, this election,’ things like that,&#8221; he added.
Speaking ahead of his official return, Stewart spoke with &#8220;<a href="https://open.spotify.com/episode/5P3vtCr3uFrN3297jMwKAR?si=11b225ca3fa2466a">The Daily Show&#8217;s Ears Edition podcast&#8221;</a> about his comeback, THR noted.

&#8220;If you want to be present in this world, you have to be present in this conversation and you have to be as relentless and as tenacious as the counter-narrative that&#8217;s being formed,&#8221; Stewart said.
&#8220;So much of the information that we see now is weaponized … and it keeps taking exponential leaps,&#8221; he added. &#8220;It&#8217;s not just the election. It&#8217;s AI. It&#8217;s the way that we&#8217;ve militarized all our conflicts.&#8221;
&#8220;It all ties together to one larger idea, which is the form of government we love so much is an analog — I don&#8217;t want to say dinosaur — but it is analog and the world now moves at an increasingly infinite digital pace and reconciling those two things, I think, is the challenge of the moment for people,&#8221; Stewart continued.
