Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) unloaded on a reporter from radical outlet Drop Site News, claiming that the outlet was actively participating in a race to see who could be the most pro-Hamas.
Fetterman, when approached by a reporter in a Capitol Hill hallway, immediately asked him to identify the outlet he was representing — and upon learning that it was Julian Andreone from Drop Site News, the Pennsylvania senator immediately started questioning him about who funded them.
Andreone introduced himself, and Fetterman immediately asked, &#8220;Who are you with?&#8221;
&#8220;Drop Site News,&#8221; Andreone replied.
&#8220;Oh, you&#8217;re Drop Site!&#8221; Fetterman exclaimed. &#8220;Oh! Now it&#8217;s like a race between who&#8217;s the more pro-Hamas, Drop Site or Zeteo. So now I got both. Hi! Hi, everybody, yeah.&#8221;
&#8220;Do you mind if I ask you a question really quick?&#8221; Andreone asked. &#8220;It&#8217;s about —&#8221;
&#8220;I want your viewers to see how much I love to watch Israel eliminating the Hamas leadership,&#8221; Fetterman interrupted. &#8220;I know that upsets a lot of your viewers and a lot of your founders. But I think it&#8217;s a great thing.&#8221;
&#8220;So, President Trump —&#8221; Andreone attempted to ask a question, but Fetterman filibustered.
&#8220;So there&#8217;s no news coming out of me. I&#8217;m going to always back Israel. The question is, where does your trash outlet come from and who&#8217;s funding it? And if you think —&#8221;
&#8220;46,000 individual donors,&#8221; Andreone insisted.
&#8220;Your founders think it&#8217;s appropriate to attack and kill Israeli civilians. That&#8217;s really — that should be the news overall,&#8221; Fetterman said, referencing Drop Site News co-founder Jeremy Scahill, who recently attempted to get <a href="https://x.com/DropSiteNews/status/2077101764277399717">Rep. Ro Khanna</a> (D-CA) to say that the October 7 Hamas-perpetrated attacks on Israeli soldiers may have been &#8220;justified.&#8221; In addition, he argued that the Hamas attackers were specifically targeting Israeli soldiers and that civilians had only been caught in the crossfire.
Scahill also claimed at another time that it was &#8220;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/reels/DQUmws3jrGA/">journalistic malpractice</a>&#8221; for Western outlets to not seek out conversations with Hamas terrorists — to whom he refers as the &#8220;Palestinian armed resistance&#8221; — when covering conflicts in the Middle East.
&#8220;Now you&#8217;re sticking a microphone in my face,&#8221; Fetterman continued. &#8220;There&#8217;s not any news here. I think the question is why does Drop Site love Hamas and Iran and Hezbollah so much? I think that&#8217;s really, I think that&#8217;s the news. I mean, are you OK with taking your paycheck from these kind of people?&#8221;
&#8220;Are you okay with Prime Minister Netanyahu being in the United States?&#8221; Andreone tried one more time to get a question in.
&#8220;I&#8217;m okay,&#8221; Fetterman replied, and with the dramatic timing of Robert Duvall delivering the line, &#8220;I love the smell of napalm in the morning,&#8221; the Pennsylvania senator got five words in just as the elevator door closed behind him: &#8220;I love killing Hamas leadership.&#8221;

The state and mood of Washington, D.C. this week are a combination of dire and surreal. The surreal came in the form of the funeral for Lindsey Graham, a rare politician of actual note in this day and age of politicos who are good at winning elections, toeing the line, and remaining consistently unrecognizable as having any effect on national policy. (Did you know that Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) has been in office since Princess Diana was still alive? Wild.)
The event was, as is typical for the nation&#8217;s capital city, reduced to a pathetic networking session of smiles and handshakes between journos and politicians, lawyers and lobbyists, with the additional Kremlinology of who got to sit where and why. Everyone was on their phones between songs of generic holiness, stuck to the uncomfortable confines of worn brown National Cathedral chairs in the purportedly religious house that has the acoustics of a Wawa and whose respect for holiness is embodied by the head of <a href="https://cathedral.org/discover/fun-facts/">Darth Vader</a> perched atop its Northwest Tower, as predicted by the <a href="https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/Luke%2019:40">Gospel of Luke</a>. For this, Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) wore a suit?
What was remarkable about the Graham funeral was how little resemblance it bore to the man it claimed to honor. Instead, it was a tribute isolated to a single relationship confined to the last seven years of Graham’s 31-year career in Washington: his political friendship with President Donald Trump. It was a connection built on Graham’s belief that, in the absence of his longtime foreign policy allies John McCain and Joe Lieberman, he had to make the best of things — becoming a quarterback whisperer in an offensive scheme he never thought he’d have to run. The decision reaped benefits, for Graham and for Trump — the former an old hand at driving policy in the Republican conference, the latter a political neophyte who didn’t know whom to trust or how to move legislation beyond a Truth Social post.
The tributes from the front of the Cathedral focused on an appeal to the Commander-in-Chief in the front row and left his longtime friends unmentioned. The program wasn’t marked by any of his longtime political allies from his home in South Carolina. Take the world leaders out of the equation in the attending crowd, and it could’ve been a funeral for any Republican senator. The oddity of it all is that, unlike so many others, Graham’s absence is likely to be immediately felt, and felt the most by Trump’s White House, whose relationship with Capitol Hill, already strained with contention and resentment, is only going to get worse.
The following day brought another insult to holiness with the circus of the Anthony Fauci hearing. The fish in the barrel claimed the Fifth the entire time, and senators expressed their undying love and affection (on the Democratic side) and their utter contempt for his lying, self-dealing, and pompous assumption of the seat of the Pope of Science. Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) blond gum-chewing staffer went viral. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) channeled the fury of millions of Americans. Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) said a swear word. None of this will be of any consequence.

This is where Republicans find themselves: looking back in anger, without delivering anything of substance. They’re still fighting the last war. Democrats are crazy socialists who haven’t stopped being crazy; in fact, they’ve gotten even crazier. But that’s not good enough to win, despite the insistence of too-online right-wingers that they can run that play back one more time to buck decades of historical midterm trends. Four in 10 voters say they want “<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox-news-poll-voters-want-major-change-amid-economic-political-discontent">revolutionary</a>” change from this election. Do you think they care about people movers at Washington Dulles Airport? Do you think they give a sh*t if James Talarico rents a truck?
That brings us to the dire mood in the capital city. House Republicans had already been planning their exit strategy and shopping for their next homes and jobs. Senate Republicans have only just noticed that they are headed in the same direction: off a cliff, at rapid speed. President Trump’s approval rating is 33% in the latest AP poll. Democratic Senate candidates currently lead in North Carolina and Georgia — where Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has promised to spend an enormous amount of cash — and are within the margin of error in Ohio and Texas, which were supposed to be red states the last time we checked. Every bout at the White House’s UFC sideshow ended in a knockout. This may not even be that close.
The realization on the eve of August that the blue tidal wave could hit the Senate, too, has come too late to do much about the outcome except bitch about the damn war. And what comes after? We all know what it looks like for D.C.: committee circuses, impeachment of Cabinet figures, and lawfare targeting the president’s family and allies to a degree that will make the Joe Biden years look sleepy and innocuous. For the Left? A dramatically emboldened socialist wing, with the force multiplier of eager and willing new entrants from safe seats, all looking to make a national name for themselves. And for the Right? Two years of vindictive bloodletting and horror, blame and revisionism, and a level of factional strife that will have the city turning back to all the old &#8220;Game of Thrones&#8221; episodes, lacking as we are in newer references in the post-peak TV era.
The Republican Party was emboldened by Donald Trump’s victory in 2024. But from election night on, it made the mistake of thinking that victory for the Right was fundamental. It may turn out to be the exception before the Left&#8217;s new and dangerous rule. Buckle up.

One Democrat senator admitted to being &#8220;blinded&#8221; by his own political assumptions during the COVID-19 pandemic as Dr. Anthony Fauci repeatedly pleaded the Fifth Amendment during a Senate Committee hearing on Wednesday.
Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman confessed he regrets allowing political partisanship to influence his rejection of the &#8220;Right-wing theory&#8221; that COVID came from the Wuhan lab in China during the early days of the pandemic. Fetterman said the so-called lab leak theory, which was branded as a conspiracy by the legacy media, had “seemed to make sense,” but added that it “became a very partisan thing.” 
“Early on, there was the theory that the virus could have emerged from the lab, and early on that became like a ‘Right-wing&#8217; kind of theory and I thought it seemed to make sense,” said Fetterman. “Now there was a really advanced lab that was close by, and then you have this unknown virus out. But that became a very partisan thing, and now it seems now it&#8217;s a more and more emerging theory that it would have come from the lab.” 
Fetterman, who was uncharacteristically dressed in a suit at the hearing, said he hopes the next time America faces a crisis, it is not “blinded by the partisan idea that maybe the truth might come from a side that&#8217;s different that you are,&#8221; as he “might have been” blinded.  
&#8220;Americans should be willing to pursue truth no matter where that may have emerged,” said Fetterman.   
Fetterman was the lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania throughout the COVID pandemic and worked alongside Democratic Governor Tom Wolf and trans-identifying Secretary of Health Rachel Levine to implement some of the most draconian mitigation policies in the nation, including extended school closures and forcing senior citizens to die alone in nursing homes. 
Fetterman adamantly supported Wolf and Levine’s policies, including a <a href="https://lvb.com/dr-rachel-levine-issues-expanded-mask-wearing-order/">universal masking mandate</a> that required children as young as 2 years old to be masked whenever leaving home. He also <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/fetterman-on-rising-coronavirus-cases-in-pa/">begged</a> Pennsylvanians to “just wear a mask” in a November 2020 video. Wolf implemented a <a href="https://www.pennlive.com/news/2020/12/no-more-indoor-dining-casinos-and-theaters-will-close-and-new-limits-on-retailers-pa-gov-tom-wolf.html">second lockdown</a> in Pennsylvania in December 2020 that extended to January 2021 and further devastated local businesses during the holiday season.   
Fetterman noted during the hearing that members of his family had died from COVID and also said he grieves for people who lost their businesses due to pandemic decisions and will “never be the same.”  
&#8220;During the pandemic I was lieutenant governor so we were in the middle of all of that maelstrom, trying to find the right balance between protect life and protect the economics of all of it,&#8221; said Fetterman. “I&#8217;m not sure if we got it all right or wrong, but without a doubt I continue to question myself.” 
Fetterman is an outspoken supporter of transgenderism and supports the inclusion of men in women’s sports. In a March 2025 post on <a href="https://x.com/SenFettermanPA/status/1896728606812028954?s=46&amp;t=ZAoIkqhiKpZyQayFV_2XbQ">X,</a> Fetterman wrote, “The small handful of trans athletes in PA in a political maelstrom deserve an ally, and I am one.”

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) called out Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), arguing that he was part of the push to elevate embattled Maine Democrat Graham Platner.
Platner, who is Maine&#8217;s Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, has faced a litany of scandals since he entered the race — from a Nazi-inspired tattoo and dubious social media history to multiple accusations of troubling behavior and even rape. Fetterman told Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Monday that Sanders ought to apologize for so aggressively pushing Platner.

Ingraham noted that almost across the board — with few exceptions, of which Fetterman was one — the Democratic Party had been all too willing to ignore the questionable items in Platner&#8217;s history, and she asked whether any of them should be held responsible for the ensuing situation.
&#8220;I refused to overlook that,&#8221; Fetterman replied. &#8220;But honestly, I would really call Bernie Sanders to apologize for pushing this kind of predator — more than anyone he helped [to] elect — and now apologize to the victims, especially the woman that she claimed that he raped her, so I don&#8217;t know why you want to keep pushing these kinds of people.&#8221;
&#8220;Maybe he should consider [sitting] a few out and stop pushing these kinds of communists, and now people like P. Hustle, now he has been credibly accused of rape — and that&#8217;s fairly recent, too, that was only less than five years ago,&#8221; Fetterman continued.
Fetterman has repeatedly challenged members of his own party over their support for Platner — and has argued that the scandals, even before the rape accusation, should have been disqualifying.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has a breaking point — and he laid it out bluntly in a Wednesday night <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6399969120112">sit-down</a> with Sean Hannity on Fox News. The outspoken Pennsylvania Democrat said there&#8217;s exactly one thing that could push him out of his own party: if Democrats formally declared, as part of their party platform, that Israel has no right to defend itself or exist.
“For me, what my real concern is the Democratic Party is going to and put it into the platform, you know, is an anti-Israel party, that Israel does not have the right to defend itself and to exist,” he declared. “And the second that becomes a formal part of our platform, that&#8217;s the one thing that would push me out of this party because I&#8217;m deeply alarmed the way the Democratic party is going after Israel and allowing rank antisemitism to just flourish in the Left on the campuses as well.”
Fetterman pointed to Colorado Democrat Melat Kiros, a socialist who won her primary over a 15-term incumbent earlier this week. Kiros recently dodged questions about a firebombing attack on Jewish demonstrators rallying for hostages. She also said 9/11 was the result of American foreign policy and argued that October 7 was “the inevitable consequence of apartheid.” That kind of rhetoric, Fetterman warned, is becoming disturbingly common on the Left and on college campuses — and if it ever gets codified into official Democratic policy, he&#8217;s out.
The Hannity appearance is just the latest chapter in Fetterman&#8217;s increasingly public break from his party&#8217;s mainstream on foreign policy. In June, he <a href="https://jewishinsider.com/2026/06/fetterman-warns-trump-iran-deal-nuclear/">warned</a> that President Donald Trump might be tempted to accept a watered-down nuclear deal with Iran, one that leaves Tehran&#8217;s uranium stockpile intact. Fetterman insists he isn&#8217;t going independent or flipping parties — he still considers himself a &#8220;regular Democrat.&#8221; But between his hawkish stance on Israel and Iran, his border security views, and his shutdown criticism, he acknowledges he now finds himself lining up more with Republicans than with his own leadership.

As all three socialist congressional candidates backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani won their congressional primaries, Fetterman said war was being declared on “regular Democrats&#8221; and that his party was becoming increasingly out of step with the American people. 
“It&#8217;s just been the dancing days of the dirt bag Left with some of these candidates are outrageous,” Fetterman <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6399220644112">said</a> in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. “You have candidates they [want to] abolish ICE, abolish the police, abolish the border.”

Far-Left Democrat socialists Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier both declared victory in their respective primary races. Avila Chevalier is a self-described “prison abolitionist” and opposes deporting any illegal immigrants. 
“A lot of these candidates that very likely are going to win tonight, just declaring a war on just regular Democrats,” Fetterman said.
“They&#8217;re all socialists, of course, and now there&#8217;s a communist and now a Marxist,” he said. “We have P-Hustle in Maine. You know, that&#8217;s another one. He&#8217;s a self-avowed communist, too. Well, that&#8217;s not even looked down on, and it&#8217;s a significant part of the Democratic Party right now.”
“P-Hustle” was the username that Maine Democrat nominee Graham Platner used for years to post anti-Christian, vulgar, and sexual comments on social media. 
In addition to the victories of Valdez and Avila Chevalier, former New York comptroller Brad Lander defeated incumbent Rep. Dan Goldman. 
President Donald Trump also reacted to the results from New York, writing on Truth Social early Wednesday morning, &#8220;America the Beautiful will NEVER be a Communist Country!!!&#8221;
In another post Wednesday morning, Trump called out &#8220;Dumocrat Communists.&#8221;
&#8220;Even though he tried unsuccessfully to prosecute me, and despite the fact that he is a major Slimeball, I feel sorry for FORMER Congressman Dan Goldman. He is wandering aimlessly, together with the former husband of the great Kellyanne Conway, through a large field of Dumocrat Communists, trying so hard to find his way &#8211; A very sad finish for a man who has no clue, and never did!!!&#8221; Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116804998509920399">wrote</a>.
Fetterman added that his party has been taken over by the “full pro-Hamas wing.” He added that hate for Israel has become “the center of a lot of these primaries across the country, and definitely, definitely, what we&#8217;re witnessing in New York City.”
“Now that&#8217;s going to become the lesson that the Democratic Party is going to continue to be anti-Israel, and I&#8217;ll be the one that&#8217;s going to continue to lean in and be proud to stand with Israel,” Fetterman said. 
The results could prove to be troublesome for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) who endorsed the opponents of both Lander and Avila Chevalier. 
Reacting to the results, GOP spokesman Mike Marinella said that Americans should be “terrified.” 
“Tonight wasn’t just a bad night for so-called ‘Leader’ Hakeem Jeffries,” he said. “It was the night the Democrat establishment officially surrendered to Zohran Mamdani and the socialist wing of their party. Every House Democrat, in safe and competitive districts alike, will now answer to the radicals calling the shots. And Americans should be terrified by where the Democrat Party is headed.”

A bitter public feud between Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner is exposing growing fractures within the Democratic Party as left-wing activists and establishment figures increasingly find themselves at odds ahead of the 2026 midterms.

In another appearance, Fetterman argued that Democrats were supporting Platner primarily because of party loyalty rather than enthusiasm for the candidate himself. &#8220;If they&#8217;d just be honest, they&#8217;d say, &#8216;Well, the only thing I can say about him is, well, he&#8217;s a Democrat,'&#8221; Fetterman <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/06/06/politics/video/fetterman-roasts-maines-dem-senate-candidate">said</a>. &#8220;He&#8217;s not really technically a Democrat — in his own words, he said, &#8216;I&#8217;m a communist socialist.'&#8221;
Platner has fired back repeatedly, accusing Fetterman of abandoning progressive principles and aligning himself with more moderate and pro-Israel factions within the party. Over the weekend, Platner <a href="https://x.com/grahamformaine/status/2063395224592761326">wrote</a> on X that Fetterman had become &#8220;a stooge for AIPAC and the Republican Party,&#8221; highlighting one of the major ideological fault lines driving the dispute.
The increasingly personal nature of the conflict comes as Fetterman himself has become a controversial figure among many leftists due to his strong support for Israel, criticism of anti-Israel activists, and willingness to break with fellow Democrats on several high-profile issues.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) is sounding the alarm that President Donald Trump may be on the verge of accepting a weak deal with Iran — one that fails to eliminate Tehran&#8217;s enriched uranium stockpile or guarantee the regime never acquires a nuclear weapon.
In an <a href="https://jewishinsider.com/2026/06/fetterman-warns-trump-iran-deal-nuclear/">interview</a> with Jewish Insider, the Pennsylvania Democrat warned Trump that caving to political pressure at this critical moment would define his presidency for the worse.
&#8220;Presidents always talk about their legacy,&#8221; Fetterman said. &#8220;At this point, if you cave just for political convenience, what kind of legacy is that?&#8221;
Over the past 90 days, Fetterman has been the sole Democrat to vote against every Iran war powers resolution in the Senate, arguing that executive military authority must not be constrained while the Iranian threat remains active. He has <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fetterman-war-iran-been-effective/#:~:text=Pressed%20on%20whether%20the%20war,the%20kinds%20of%20appropriate%20outcome.%22">openly praised</a> the military campaign against Iran as &#8220;very effective&#8221; and moving toward an &#8220;appropriate outcome,&#8221; even while acknowledging the political cost of agreeing with Trump on anything.
His position on Iran has been unambiguous from the start. Before major strikes began, he <a href="https://www.spotlightpa.org/news/2026/01/iran-protests-senate-fetterman-intervention-federal-government/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CWhy%20can't%20we%20all,right%20now%2C%E2%80%9D%20he%20added.">publicly backed</a> armed intervention, saying, &#8220;Why can&#8217;t we all agree that Iran is a terrible force in our world, and why isn&#8217;t it better to help end their regime?&#8221; He compared negotiating with Tehran to <a href="https://www.iranintl.com/en/202602207153">negotiating with cancer</a> — impossible and naive. &#8220;You can&#8217;t negotiate with cancer,&#8221; he told Fox News. &#8220;You have to attack it and go right at it with superior force.&#8221;
He also questioned why the United States had waited so long to target Iran&#8217;s nuclear facilities, asking why anyone would hesitate to strike a stockpile of 900 pounds of near-weapons-grade uranium.
When U.S.-Israeli strikes killed top Iranian regime figures, including the supreme leader, Fetterman was <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-p7OxpViwo">blunt in his approval</a>: &#8220;The world is safer, and it&#8217;s more just now,&#8221; he said, adding that having the top tier of the regime eliminated was &#8220;a good thing.&#8221;
Fetterman has framed the conflict as part of a broader civilizational struggle — and warned that a weak deal with Tehran could signal American retreat to adversaries in Beijing as well. &#8220;I hope after that silly visit to China that they aren&#8217;t now like, &#8216;Well, we&#8217;re going to turn our back on Taiwan,'&#8221; he said. &#8220;These are all fights for civilization and democracy &#8230; it&#8217;s [America&#8217;s] special responsibility to stand with these allies.&#8221;
Fetterman also turned his fire on fellow Democrats who pushed for a Gaza ceasefire in 2024, arguing their efforts would have left Iran&#8217;s nuclear program intact, Hezbollah armed, and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar alive. &#8220;Where&#8217;s the outrage?&#8221; he asked. &#8220;It was politically convenient to try to push Israel into a position that would put Iran on the path to nuclear power.&#8221;

In a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMiKkhrGmWI">podcast interview with libertarian journalist Nick Gillespie</a>, Fetterman defended the Trump administration&#8217;s military campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Asked whether he trusts war assessments from President Donald Trump and War Secretary Pete Hegseth, the swing-state Democrat did not budge.
&#8220;100%, I trust the Trump administration, and Trump a hell of a lot more than I would ever trust the Iranians or the Chinese or the Russians,&#8221; Fetterman said, adding, &#8220;We are all Americans. That&#8217;s what we&#8217;re forgetting. You know, the Democratic Party can&#8217;t become the TDS party. &#8230; And clearly that&#8217;s where we are right now.&#8221;

Fetterman also called out Democrats&#8217; foreign policy double standards.
&#8220;We have a nuclear power at the cusp, and it&#8217;s entirely appropriate to hold them accountable for what they&#8217;ve done,&#8221; Fetterman said. &#8220;And clearly a lot of people in the world care and had strong opinions on Gaza, well then, why don&#8217;t you have the same kinds of views and condemn Iran too?&#8221;

Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman praised Los Angeles mayoral hopeful Spencer Pratt’s playbook on Monday and urged Democrats to move on from their barrage of anti-Trump ads.
Fetterman, who is known for his regular criticisms of the Democratic Party, told comedian Bill Maher that Pratt is running circles around Democrats when it comes to getting his message out to voters.
“He has this AI commercial as Batman. It puts Mayor Bass as the Joker, and they put Newsom as Louis XIV eating cake,” Fetterman said, praising the ad’s ability to get a convincing message across. 
“The Democratic side’s commercials are literally ‘f*ck Trump,” he said, arguing those types of ads won’t “win a national argument” in a purple state. Instead, Fetterman pointed to what he sees as a more effective approach.

Republicans in California have gained some traction in the state’s gubernatorial race as Democrats continue to focus on anti-Trump messaging, much to Fetterman’s dismay. According to the prediction market Kalshi, Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton has a 79% chance of advancing to the runoff after the California primary in early June. Like Pratt, Hilton’s campaign focuses on safety and affordability in California. 
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Porter’s latest ad features protesters holding signs reading “Dump Trump,” despite Trump not being in the race or up for re-election. There is less emphasis on Trump in the mayoral race.
Pratt’s political rival, Nithya Raman, ran an ad focused on Hollywood’s declining film industry, but it fell flat when she attempted to draw sympathy by featuring her husband, a Hollywood producer who has written for &#8220;30 Rock&#8221; and &#8220;Modern Family.&#8221; In the ad, Raman stands in a vacant studio lot discussing the city’s loss of movie production, saying, “This issue is personal to me because my husband works in the industry too.”
Mayor Bass frequently posts Instagram videos featuring members of her community. In one video, a supporter energizes a crowd by saying, “They say homelessness is up, but the numbers have gone down every year with Bass as mayor.”
Both Bass and Raman dropped out of the second Los Angeles mayoral debate. An online viewer poll from NBC4 L.A. showed 89% of respondents picked Pratt as the winner of the first debate. Bass’s team said the incumbent mayor is dropping out of the second debate to travel to Sacramento to lobby state officials for funding for the Palisades fire recovery. The L.A. Times reports that Raman dropped out because “her main reason to attend the forum was to debate Bass.”

A leftist mounting a long-shot campaign against Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman was arrested after he called on his senator to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to the FBI. 
Raymond Chandler III was arrested Friday after law enforcement said he left several disturbing calls threatening the president. Chandler is also accused of leaving a message for the senator describing how he and his daughter would have their throats slit by a mob of people upset about their wealth. 
“They pull you out of your house and they slit your throat and they slit your daughter’s throat and they slit everyone’s throat,” Chandler said in a message to an unnamed member of Congress, according to an FBI affidavit. “That you know, sir, that is the future. It&#8217;s not a future I want, it&#8217;s not a future I&#8217;m advocating for, but wealth concentration has gotten so bad in this country.”
It&#8217;s unclear from the affidavit if Chandler left the messages for Fetterman or for Republican Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick. 
Chandler, who supports abolishing ICE and wants to go after billionaires, <a href="https://chandlerforsenate.com/my_values/">describes</a> himself as a Quaker-Buddhist who wants everyone to be treated with “empathy, kindness,” and respect. 
“The greed has gotten so bad. People are suffering so much, sir, that that is what is in our future,” he added in the call, according to the FBI. “You will not escape their wrath. We must redistribute the wealth away from people like you.”
He was charged with multiple counts related to threats against federal officials and their families. In another phone call, Chandler is accused of calling for his senator to assassinate President Donald Trump. 
“Sir, I’m calling this evening because what I want you to do is I want you to take a firearm. I want you to put it in your hand,” he allegedly said. “I want you to walk into the Oval Office. I want you to put that firearm to the President’s head, and I want you to pull the trigger and I want you to kill him.”
He said that Trump was “awful,” “a liar among all liars,” and the “antichrist.” 
“I want you to put it to his temple, and I want you to pull the trigger. That is what I want you to do as my agent,” Chandler said, according to the affidavit. “That’s what I want you to do as my elected official. That’s what I am petitioning you to do with my free speech. I want you to kill the President. I want you to assassinate the President. That’s what I want you to do.”
Chandler previously left messages advocating for “armed resistance” to ICE alongside his willingness to “go to war and to ‘personally kill,’” according to the FBI. A lawyer appointed to represent Chandler declined to comment. A hearing is set for May 8 to determine whether to keep Chandler in federal custody.
Trump has faced a number of major assassination attempts, including most recently at the White House Correspondents&#8217; Dinner when a gunman attempted to storm into the ballroom where he sat alongside other top government officials.
