Calls to invoke the 25th Amendment have become a kind of political reflex — trotted out whenever opponents of a sitting president decide that sharp rhetoric, unconventional behavior, or controversial decision-making must somehow amount to incapacity. With Donald Trump, this refrain has reached predictable levels: he’s “unfit” or “unstable,” critics say, and therefore should be removed not through elections or even impeachment, but via the Constitution’s emergency mechanism for presidential disability. That argument fundamentally misunderstands what the 25th Amendment is and why it exists.
Ratified in 1967 in the aftermath of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, the 25th Amendment was designed to address a narrow but serious problem: what happens when a president is incapable of exercising the powers of the office? Section 4, the most discussed (and most misunderstood) provision — and one that has never been invoked — allows the vice president and a majority of the cabinet to declare that the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” Upon transmitting that declaration to Congress, the vice president immediately assumes the role of acting president.
Crucially, the amendment anticipates disagreement. If the president contests the declaration, Congress must decide the issue, requiring a two-thirds vote in both houses to sustain the vice president’s judgment. That’s an extraordinarily high bar, reflecting the gravity of sidelining a duly elected president without impeachment.
The text is clear: the concern is inability and incapacity, not unpopularity or controversy. It’s a mechanism for dealing with presidents who cannot function, not those whose personalities provoke opposition.
Historical practice reinforces this understanding. The 25th Amendment has been invoked several times — under Section 3, which allows voluntary delegation of authority — in cases involving clear, temporary incapacity. In 1985, President Ronald Reagan had surgery for colon cancer and transferred power to Vice President George H.W. Bush for about eight hours. President George W. Bush invoked Section 3 twice, in 2002 and 2007, when he underwent colonoscopies requiring anesthesia. President Joe Biden did the same thing in 2021. In these cases, the respective vice presidents briefly served as “acting” president. They were textbook examples of the 25th Amendment’s purpose: a president temporarily unable to perform his duties due to a known, concrete medical condition.
Even outside formal invocation, the amendment’s logic reflects lessons from earlier constitutional crises. Woodrow Wilson, after suffering a debilitating stroke in 1919, remained president in name only while his wife and aides effectively ran the executive branch. That episode — along with concerns raised after President Dwight Eisenhower’s heart attack — led to calls for constitutional reform, which Kennedy’s assassination finally triggered.
In other words, this provision exists precisely because there have been presidents who were genuinely unable to govern due to physical or cognitive impairment. It’s not a catch-all remedy for political dissatisfaction.
Which brings us to Donald Trump. One can oppose his policies, criticize his rhetoric, or argue that he shouldn’t be president. The Constitution provides a mechanism for that: elections. It also provides another mechanism for serious misconduct: impeachment. But outrage over a president’s behavior can’t magically transform into constitutional “inability.”
Trump’s critics often claim that he’s erratic or mentally unstable. But these are political assertions, not medical diagnoses. More importantly, they’re not evidence of incapacity as the 25th Amendment contemplates it. There’s no indication that Trump is unable to understand his role, make decisions, or carry out the basic functions of the presidency. Indeed, whatever one thinks of his style, he’s behaving much as he did during his first term — hardly evidence of a sudden, disqualifying decline.
The contrast with genuinely incapacitated presidents is stark. Wilson was physically and neurologically impaired to the point of being unable to govern. More recently, Biden’s cognitive decline prompted debate precisely because it raised questions about whether he could perform the job’s demands. Those are the kinds of situations the 25th Amendment is meant to address: actual inability, not partisan disgust.
To stretch the amendment to cover unconventional leadership would be to weaponize it, turning a safeguard for emergencies into a tool for political maneuvering. That would not only distort the Constitution but also set a dangerous precedent, inviting future cabinets and vice presidents to attempt end-runs around elections whenever tensions run high.
Trump’s opponents are entirely within their rights to argue that he is unfit for office. They can make that case to Congress and ultimately to voters. They can even continue to deploy the language of “craziness” in the rough-and-tumble of political debate. But they shouldn’t pretend that such rhetoric satisfies the legal standard for removing a president under the 25th Amendment.

A renewed commitment to the Moon, Mars, and American leadership can define the next great era of national achievement.
With President Trump and Jared Isaacman pointing the way, the United States has a chance to lead humanity beyond Earth once again.
After decades of drift, America is finally preparing to reclaim its place at the forefront of space exploration.
For the first time in 50 years, Americans are traveling to the Moon and beyond.
No one should understate the importance of this decision to venture into the solar system beyond near-Earth orbit.
The recent announcements about the Moon, Mars, and beyond by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and the statements and executive orders of President Donald J. Trump are clear signals that America is back on track to carry freedom into space.
This is an important, indeed vital shift from the policies of the last half-century.
America met President John F. Kennedy’s challenge to go to the Moon by the end of the ‘60s — with landings beginning in 1969 and continuing through 1972. Then, the country sadly turned its back on the Moon and settled into a focus on low Earth orbit for a variety of commercial, national security, and scientific activities. During that half-century, we learned an amazing amount about how to operate close to the Earth, and our lives are impacted every minute of every day by these activities. For example, you would not have a cell phone in your pocket were it not for our innovations in low Earth orbit.
However, after the last American left the Moon in 1972, we neglected to invest in the kind of program that would have maintained the momentum of the Apollo program.
In President Trump’s first term, he indicated clearly how strongly he was committed to having America lead in space. He resurrected the National Space Council and then-Vice President Mike Pence did a great job bringing together every element of the Space community. President Trump created a Space Force dedicated to developing American military superiority in space and across the planet.
After a four-year period of neglect under President Joe Biden, the second Trump administration focused once again on pioneering in space and growing commercial opportunities in low Earth orbit.
By picking Isaacman to be the head of NASA, President Trump reached out to a unique and remarkable person. Isaacman had been a successful entrepreneur and was worth well over a billion dollars. He was also passionate about space and had spent a considerable amount to fly into space twice as a customer of SpaceX. He is the only civilian who has completed a space walk outside the International Space Station.
Because Isaacman is a visionary and an entrepreneurial manager, he has already begun to create a new, dramatically more powerful set of goals for NASA. The recent briefing outlined a permanent return to the Moon, the first voyages to preposition equipment on Mars for human development, and the high priority of building a nuclear-powered rocket (which will radically reduce travel time beyond the Moon). These are big, decisive investments in moving freedom into the solar system.
Artemis II will take four astronauts further into space than anyone has ever gone before. Soon, its larger successor, SpaceX’s Starship will revolutionize travel beyond the Earth.
As big as Artemis II is (a little more powerful than the huge Saturn rockets which carried our first manned space flights) it will be dwarfed by Starship.
As a SpaceX customer, Isaacman understands the power of Elon Musk’s determination to get things to work. The SpaceX development of reusable rockets collapsed the price of putting satellites in orbit by 90 percent. This was possibly the biggest affordability breakthrough of the last generation. Today about half of all launches in the world are SpaceX. Starship will be an even greater revolution.
Starship will launch 100 passengers or 100 tons of cargo — and will be usable repeatedly.
The Artemis II launch was the wake-up call that America is back.
This time we are not just going to visit the Moon. This time we are going to develop the Moon as usable property and learn how to get hydrogen out of the water ice which has turned out to be surprisingly abundant. Mastering in-situ resource manufacturing skills will be essential for future missions to Mars.
This time we are not just going to send clever robotic vehicles to the surface of Mars. We are going to land and begin to learn how to terraform and evolve Mars into a more hospitable, productive, and survivable environment.
There was one seeming mishap on the opening days of Artemis II, which — if looked at properly — is a sign of how far we have come.
The toilet suddenly stopped working.
Since it was a $30 million toilet, the first reaction was bad jokes and great skepticism.
Then, as the story came out, it was clear how far we had come in putting humans in space. Artemis II is the first vehicle going beyond low Earth orbit to have a toilet. It is the first time astronauts have a private room. The challenges of relieving oneself in space are enormous (think zero gravity and your imagination will do the rest). The original true pioneers in the Apollo program had astonishingly primitive systems and at times found it embarrassing.
Nevertheless, the toilet is now fixed, the mission continues, and it’s amazing how far we have come — and will go.
As Isaacman warned us, the Chinese are aggressive and serious competitors. They would like to make totalitarianism the standard across the solar system.
We are now on track to carry freedom everywhere, and Congress and the American people must rise to the occasion.
The future is now — if we are prepared to grab it.

Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of the 35th U.S. president, John F. Kennedy, died on Tuesday after revealing in a November essay that she had been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. She was 35.
Her passing was announced by her family in a social media post from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.
&#8220;Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts,&#8221; the family wrote.
Schlossberg was a climate change and environmental journalist and the second child of JFK&#8217;s daughter, former U.S. diplomat Caroline Kennedy, and the designer-artist Edwin Schlossberg.
In a New Yorker essay published in November, Schlossberg said she had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia with a rare mutation, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
At the time, she also criticized her cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. health secretary, for being a vaccine skeptic and cutting funding for cancer research.

According to the <a href="https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/6212-acute-myeloid-leukemia-aml">Cleveland Clinic</a>, acute myeloid leukemia &#8220;typically happens when certain genes or chromosomes mutate (change). AML usually affects people age 60 and older, but it can also affect younger adults and children. [It] is an aggressive cancer that can be life-threatening.&#8221;
The illness only affects about 4 in 100,000 adults per year.
Blood Cancer United <a href="https://bloodcancerunited.org/resources/newsroom/fda-approves-new-drug-treat-advanced-aml-adults">reported</a> in November that the FDA approved a new drug called ziftomenib to treat those with advanced AML with an NPM1 gene mutation.
&#8220;In a clinical trial, 21.4% of patients treated with ziftomenib went into a full remission or remission with partial recovery of blood counts, which means there were no signs of cancer cells in the bone marrow, but not all blood counts had returned to normal.&#8221;

The Kennedy Center board voted unanimously Thursday to rename the Washington, D.C., performing arts venue The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center For The Performing Arts, The Daily Wire has learned.
Trump had teased the possibility of renaming the center, which he has made a focal point of his second administration. It is unclear how or when the renaming will become official. Earlier attempts have been made to rename the center. In July 2025, Missouri GOP Rep. Bob Onder introduced the &#8220;Make Entertainment Great Again&#8221; Act, which proposed renaming the entire complex the Donald J. Trump Center for the Performing Arts. Later that month, the House Appropriations Committee approved an amendment to rename the center’s main Opera House after First Lady Melania Trump.
“The Kennedy Center Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to name the institution The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. The unanimous vote recognizes that the current Chairman saved the institution from financial ruin and physical destruction. The new Trump Kennedy Center reflects the unequivocal bipartisan support for America’s cultural center for generations to come,” Roma Daravi, Vice President of Public Relations, stated.

President Kennedy&#8217;s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, <a href="https://people.com/jack-schlossberg-slams-effort-rename-kennedy-center-theater-after-melania-trump-11778364">objected</a> to the name change, citing a 1983 <a href="https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?path=/prelim@title20/chapter3/subchapter5&amp;edition=prelim">federal statute</a> that prohibits additional memorials or plaques in the public areas of the Kennedy Center. The statue stated, &#8220;There is established in the Smithsonian Institution a bureau, which shall be directed by a board to be known as the Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (hereafter in this subchapter referred to as the &#8216;Board&#8217;), whose duty it shall be to maintain and administer the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and site thereof as the National Center for the Performing Arts, a living memorial to John Fitzgerald Kennedy &#8230; the Board shall assure that after December 2, 1983, no additional memorials or plaques in the nature of memorials shall be designated or installed in the public areas of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.&#8221;
&#8220;Plain reading of the statute makes clear — YOU CAN&#8217;T DO THAT,&#8221; Schlossberg, 32, wrote on Instagram. &#8220;Law prohibits renaming Kennedy Center.&#8221;
In early 2025, President Trump ousted the Board of Trustees and named himself Chairman of the Board and appointed Richard Grenell as interim executive director. Trump wrote, &#8220;NO MORE DRAG SHOWS, OR OTHER ANTI-AMERICAN PROPAGANDA.”
Grenell stated, &#8220;Corporations don&#8217;t want to fund an all-lesbian cast of Othello.&#8221;

Topline: In a major diplomatic breakthrough, Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to phase one of a ceasefire in Ukraine following a long phone call with President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, hostilities between Israel and Hamas resumed in Gaza after the end of a two-month truce.
The Best of Times: President Trump campaigned on a promise to bring the war in Ukraine to an end upon taking office, and we’ve now seen by far the most significant steps toward peace since the conflict began. The president and Putin talked for at least 90 minutes; by the end, they agreed to a limited ceasefire to end strikes on Ukrainian energy and infrastructure facilities for the next thirty days. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said &#8220;civilian infrastructure&#8221; was struck by Russian drones after the Trump-Putin phone call. Moscow has used waves of drones and missiles to target Ukrainian energy plants and refineries, knocking out power across the country and cutting electricity production in half. Ukraine has had similar success striking Russian oil refineries, threatening one of the country’s top industries.
The Trump administration insists that yesterday’s agreement was phase one of a broader “movement to peace,” which will begin immediately with further formal negotiations taking place in the Middle East. Going forward, the two sides will work on a broader maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, followed by a full ceasefire across both countries, as the penultimate step to a “permanent peace.” In the meantime, the Kremlin announced they would conduct a prisoner swap with the Ukrainians later today, with 175 prisoners being released from each side.

The Worst of Times: On Tuesday, Israel launched a series of airstrikes in Gaza, killing hundreds of Palestinians. Hamas claims the victims were mostly civilians, including children. Israel says they targeted terrorists. After the strikes, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that it was “only the beginning” and that his country would continue pushing forward until Hamas has been destroyed and all of the hostages are brought home.
The two sides had been abiding by a ceasefire since January, which included promises from Hamas to free all of the remaining hostages in their possession. But in the last two months, the terror group released just 33 hostages — eight of whom were dead — while Israel released nearly 1,800 Palestinian prisoners, including a number of convicted terrorists. Netanyahu says Hamas failed to abide by the terms of the ceasefire and Israeli intelligence had proof they were regrouping and preparing new attacks on his nation.
“Hamas was actively recruiting, actively rearming, and planning its next attacks across the border,” Michael Oren, former Israeli ambassador to the United States, told Morning Wire. “Israel concluded that the whole situation was untenable, and while the last thing they wanted to do was to endanger the lives of these hostages further, because they&#8217;re all in desperate shape, there was no choice but to ratchet up a military pressure on Hamas in the hope that it&#8217;ll actually come to the table and strike a deal.”

Topline: The Trump administration released tens of thousands of pages of documents on Tuesday related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
During his 2024 presidential campaign, President Trump pledged to release all classified documents on the Kennedy assassination, and late on Tuesday afternoon, the documents began to appear on the National Archives website. According to ABC News, DOJ attorneys were up all night sifting through documents, examining sensitive information, and making decisions on potential redactions. Trump said on Monday that about 80,000 pages of yet-to-be-released documents on the JFK assassination would be made public.
“We’ve got a tremendous amount of paper,” President Trump said in a statement on Monday. “You’ve got a lot of reading. I don’t believe we’re going to redact anything.”
No bombshells have turned up in the files yet – again, 80,000 pages is a lot to get through – there are handwritten notes, old typewritten reports, and some blurry pages. Daily Wire reporters have found some entertaining nuggets. One document appears to show that John F. Kennedy Jr., before he died in 1999, called then-Sen. Joe Biden a “traitor.” Another showed that FBI director J. Edgar Hoover was tracking a set of safes – and knew their combinations – that were purchased for a Soviet embassy in Cuba. Another bit told of how Gary Underhill, a former U.S. Army captain in World War II, suspected a “small clique” in the CIA was behind JFK’s assassination. The document said he was afraid, and that six months later, he was found shot and pronounced dead by suicide.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard wrote in a post after the files were released, quote, “President Trump is ushering in a new era of maximum transparency… Promises made, promises kept.”

Stock prices have declined significantly over the past month, a downturn many analysts attribute to the Trump administration’s aggressive tariff policies. As of market close on Tuesday:

Some observers, like The Daily Wire’s own <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao3GqTFChnE">Ben Shapiro</a>, have cautioned that tariffs create instability and could cause an economic downturn, which could be politically disastrous for the Trump administration. Others, including members of the Trump administration, are more bullish on the long-term benefits of tariffs and believe that the negative effects on the American economy have been exaggerated in the press.
“The economy in the first quarter is doing better than the media is reporting,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox Business on &#8220;Mornings with Maria.&#8221; “We are seeing some good underlying data from credit card companies, from banks … the underlying economy is healthy.”
“When you look at what&#8217;s going on with tariffs, obviously, it&#8217;s creating a lot of uncertainty, which is causing a lot of fantastic stocks to pull back or sell off,” Mark Tepper, CEO of Strategic Wealth Partners, told Morning Wire. “That&#8217;s presenting good buying opportunities.”

President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> has made good on his pledge for transparency, going through with the release of secret documents related to the 1963 assassination of President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/john-f-kennedy-jfk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">John F. Kennedy</a>.
Roughly 80,000 pages of previously-classified records are being published with no redactions in compliance with an executive order signed by Trump, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) said in a <a href="https://www.dni.gov/index.php/newsroom/press-releases/press-releases-2025/4055-pr-03-25" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a> on Tuesday. Trump had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-releasing-all-jfk-files-tomorrow-i-dont-believe-were-going-to-redact-anything" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the plan for disclosure on Monday while touring the Kennedy Center.
&#8220;President Trump is ushering in a new era of maximum transparency. Today, per his direction, previously redacted JFK Assassination Files are being released to the public with no redactions. Promises made, promises kept,&#8221; Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said in a <a href="https://x.com/DNIGabbard/status/1902136765953032472" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> on X.
ODNI said the records will be available to access either <a href="https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">online</a> starting on Tuesday or &#8220;via hard copy or on analog media formats, accessible to the American people&#8221; at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland. &#8220;Records that are currently only available for in-person viewing are being digitized and will be uploaded to the&#8221; repository on the National Archives website in the &#8220;coming days,&#8221; the agency noted.
Gabbard will post updates to X and Trump&#8217;s Truth Social as the files are released, said ODNI, which added that the files will also be posted on the White House&#8217;s website.
ODNI said additional documents &#8220;withheld under court seal or for grand jury secrecy, and records subject to section 6103 of the Internal Revenue Code, must be unsealed before release.&#8221; It noted that the National Archives is &#8220;working with the Department of Justice to expedite the unsealing of these records. Grand juries from many years ago have already seen them, so most of this information is already out, but regardless of this, this information will be immediately released upon the direction of the Court.&#8221;
Kennedy was assassinated at the age of 46 on November 22, 1963, in Dallas. Soon after, Lee Harvey Oswald, a former Marine and onetime defector to the Soviet Union, was arrested and charged with the killings of Kennedy and Dallas police officer J.D. Tippit. Although Oswald denied killing Kennedy and claimed he was a &#8220;patsy,&#8221; he was never tried — Oswald was shot dead at the age of 24 on national television at the Dallas Police headquarters by nightclub owner Jack Ruby.
The Warren Commission, established in 1963 by President Lyndon B. Johnson, concluded that Oswald acted alone. However, doubts lingered and The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 was signed into law by former President George H.W. Bush. Multiple delays in document disclosures happened since that time, giving room for conspiracy theories about Kennedy&#8217;s death to remain nearly 60 years later.
Trump oversaw the release of some documents during his first term in office, but declined to go through with a full disclosure while <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/trump-withholds-jfk-assassination-records-due-to-threats-to-us-national-security-interests" target="_blank" rel="noopener">citing</a> &#8220;identifiable national security, law enforcement, and foreign affairs concerns.&#8221; President Joe Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-delays-full-disclosure-of-secret-jfk-assassination-files" target="_blank" rel="noopener">also held off on making a full disclosure</a>. The National Archives <a href="https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/release2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said in December</a> of 2022 that over 97% of the collection of about 5 million pages had been made available to the public.
In 2023, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-pledges-to-release-all-jfk-assassination-files-if-re-elected" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pledged</a> that he would release all the JFK assassination files if re-elected to the White House. After returning to office — in January —  Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/everything-will-be-revealed-trump-declassifies-jfk-rfk-and-mlk-jr-assassination-files" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> an order to declassify the assassination files of JFK, his brother and former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. RFK&#8217;s son, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is now serving as Trump&#8217;s secretary of Health and Human Services.

Trump Releases Roughly 80,000 Pages Of Secret JFK Assassination Files

President Donald Trump said while touring the Kennedy Center on Monday that he is releasing all of the files related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy this week and that they will likely not be redacted.
Trump told reporters that the release will happen Tuesday afternoon and will include approximately 80,000 documents.
&#8220;While we&#8217;re here, I thought it would be appropriate, we are tomorrow announcing and giving all of the Kennedy files,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;So people have been waiting for decades for this, and I&#8217;ve instructed my people that are responsible, lots of different people, put together by Tulsi Gabbard, and that&#8217;s going to be released tomorrow.&#8221;
&#8220;We have a tremendous amount of paper. You&#8217;ve got a lot of reading. I don&#8217;t believe we&#8217;re going to redact anything. I said, just don&#8217;t redact. You can&#8217;t redact,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;But we&#8217;re going to be releasing the JFK files, and that would be tomorrow.&#8221;
Trump suggested that he has not personally seen all the documents, but he has heard about them.
The president added that there will be no summaries released with the documents and that the public and the media will have to come up with their own conclusions.
&#8220;It&#8217;s approximately 80,000 pages,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So it&#8217;s a lot of stuff, and you&#8217;ll make your own determination.&#8221;

Trump Releasing ‘All’ JFK Files: ‘I Don’t Believe We’re Going To Redact Anything’

Clint Hill, the Secret Service agent who jumped into action to protect Jackie Kennedy immediately after President John F. Kennedy was struck by an assassin&#8217;s bullets, died at his home in Belvedere, California, on Friday. He was 93.
Hill&#8217;s death was announced by his publicist, Jennifer Robinson, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/24/us/clint-hill-dead.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The decorated Secret Service agent is known for jumping onto the back of the Kennedys&#8217; limousine moments after the president was shot in Dallas in 1963. In <a href="https://www.military.com/video/operations-and-strategy/assassination/jfk-assassination-remastered/2812768765001" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video footage</a> of the assassination, Hill — who was assigned to protect the first lady — is seen running toward the limo and jumping onto the back of the vehicle as Jackie reaches for his help. Hill pushed Jackie back into her seat, protecting her from potentially falling off the back of the limo.
Kennedy aide David F. Powers later told the Warren Commission, which was tasked with investigating the assassination, that &#8220;Special Agent Clinton Hill saved [Jackie&#8217;s] life.” Powers added that Jackie “probably would have fallen off the rear end of the car and would have been right in the path of the other cars proceeding in the motorcade.’’ In the limousine, Hill recalled hearing the first lady say, &#8220;My God! They have shot his head off!&#8221; Hill then turned to the Secret Service agents in the car behind them and gave them a thumbs down, according to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/obituaries/2025/02/24/clint-hill-secret-service-kennedy-dead/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post</a>.
After JFK&#8217;s death, Hill continued working in the first lady&#8217;s security detail through the 1964 presidential election. Hill said that he became close friends with both President Kennedy and Jackie and was often invited to their social gatherings as a guest, not just as an agent on duty.
Hill retired from the Secret Service in 1975, but not before he became the assistant director in charge of all protective forces. Hill was also given the highest award given by the Treasury Department, which previously oversaw the Secret Service, 13 days after the JFK assassination for his “extraordinary courage and heroic effort in the face of maximum danger.”
In an op-ed for the Times in 2010, Hill wrote about the assassination that changed the trajectory of American history. According to Hill&#8217;s account, immediately after the first shot rang out, he turned to locate where the sound came from and then &#8220;scanned the presidential limousine and saw the president grab at his throat and lurch to the left.&#8221;
&#8220;I jumped off the running board and ran toward his car. I was so focused on getting to the president and Mrs. Kennedy to provide them cover that I didn’t hear the second shot,&#8221; Hill wrote. &#8220;I was just feet away when I heard and felt the effects of a third shot. It hit the president in the upper right rear of his head, and blood was everywhere. Once in the back seat, I threw myself on top of the president and first lady so that if another shot came, it would hit me instead.&#8221;
In an <a href="https://x.com/piersmorgan/status/1894132415171321881" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with Piers Morgan on CNN in 2012, Hill said he&#8217;s &#8220;always felt a sense of guilt&#8221; for President Kennedy&#8217;s death on his watch.
&#8220;I was the only agent present that had an opportunity to do anything because of the way everything happened,&#8221; Hill said. &#8220;When the shots came in from the right rear because I was on the left running board and my vision took me across the back of the president&#8217;s car, I saw the president grab at his throat and lunge to his left; I knew something was wrong. None of the other agents could do that because when they looked toward the shot, they looked away from the president&#8217;s car. So I was the only one who really had a chance, and that has [eaten] at me throughout the years.&#8221;
In 2021, Hill married journalist and author Lisa McCubbin with whom he collaborated on multiple books including &#8220;Five Days in November&#8221; and &#8220;My Travels With Mrs. Kennedy.&#8221; Hill is survived by his wife along with his two sons, Chris and Corey, whom he had with his first wife, Gwendolyn Brown. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two step-grandsons.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/house-republicans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Republicans</a> announced on Tuesday the creation of a task force geared toward the investigation and declassification of covert government materials ranging from the assassinations of prominent figures in American history to the origins of COVID to UFOs.
Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) declared that Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) will lead the &#8220;Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets&#8221; just weeks after President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/everything-will-be-revealed-trump-declassifies-jfk-rfk-and-mlk-jr-assassination-files" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> an order to declassify the assassination files of former President John F. Kennedy, former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
&#8220;For too long, the federal government has kept information of public interest classified and the American people are demanding greater transparency. This secrecy has sowed distrust in our institutions,&#8221; Comer said in a statement. &#8220;The Task Force will build on the Trump Administration’s efforts to declassify records of national importance and ensure Americans get the answers they deserve. Representative Luna is committed to shining a light on the truth and ending the era of secrecy. It’s time to let the sunlight in and finally provide answers the American public has long demanded.&#8221;
A press release said the task force has been authorized for six months pursuant to committee rules, and members would be announced at a later date. The Oversight Committee also revealed a battery of <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Task-Force-Letters.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letters</a> that Comer and Luna sent to leaders, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Attorney General Pam Bondi, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and Lt. Gen. Timothy Haugh, seeking briefings in light of Trump&#8217;s order and noting they would then request to see relevant documents and make recommendations on the declassification process.

Kennedy and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and present a plan to the President for the full and complete release of these records.&#8221;

Luna, who was first elected to the House in 2022, has been a key player in the bipartisan inquiry into unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), formerly described as unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

During a press conference with Comer at the U.S. Capitol, Luna suggested the task force&#8217;s first area of focus will be on the John F. Kennedy assassination and then made a stunning assertion that cast doubt on Lee Harvey Oswald <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lee-harvey-oswald-tied-to-cia-before-jfk-assassination-investigator-claims" target="_blank" rel="noopener">being the lone gunman</a>.
&#8220;I can tell you, based on what I’ve been seeing so far, the initial hearing that was actually held here in Congress was actually faulty, and the single bullet theory — I believe there were two shooters and we should be finding more information as we are able to gain access into the SCIF before the files are actually released to the public,&#8221; Luna said.

The FBI has discovered thousands of records that were never submitted to a review board overseeing the release of documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Axios reported that 2,400 records tied to the assassination were discovered by officials after President Donald Trump ordered that all records be released.
The records were supposed to have been transferred to the JFK Assassination Records Review Board and the National Archives in compliance with the 1992 JFK Records Act.
The still classified records are among 14,000 pages of documents that were uncovered during the review that was ordered by Trump.
&#8220;This is huge. It shows the FBI is taking this seriously,&#8221; said Jefferson Morley, an expert on the assassination. &#8220;The FBI is finally saying, &#8216;Let&#8217;s respond to the president&#8217;s order,&#8217; instead of keeping the secrecy going.&#8221;
Various U.S. intelligence agencies were requesting that some redactions be made to the records to protect sources and methods.
White House staffers that spoke with the publication said that Trump would &#8220;hit the roof&#8221; if there were any attempts to prevent the disclosure of the records.
When more JFK files were made public in 2022, the National Archives and Records Administration said 97% of the roughly 5 million pages were public, but around 3,000 documents remained classified and another 30,000 had redactions, CBS News <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-announces-jfk-rfk-mlk-assassination-files-to-be-released/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> last month. Trump has promised since his first term in office to make all of the files public. Questions have swirled for decades around President Kennedy’s assassination, which occurred in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.
&#8220;A lot of people have been waiting for this for years, for decades,&#8221; Trump said as he signed an executive order forcing the release of the JFK files. &#8220;And everything will be revealed.&#8221;
