This week, CNN chief national security analyst Jim Sciutto claimed that billionaire Elon Musk’s conversation with former president Donald Trump was “not an interview” because Musk has endorsed Trump and donated to his campaign.

But Musk didn’t promote his discussion with Trump as an interview, explicitly saying that he simply wanted a free-wheeling conversation. When pressed on how this definition could be used against CNN, Sciutto claimed that he and his colleagues “ask hard questions of both parties.”
That remains to be seen. <a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Fact_check/Do_97_percent_of_journalist_donations_go_to_Democrats">Multiple studies</a> have shown that journalists who donate to political causes and politicians are far more likely to donate to Democrats. This bias is evident in the ranks of mainstream media outlets. For example, CNN anchor and pundit John Avlon is <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/ex-cnn-pundit-john-avlon-who-spent-years-bashing-trump-seeks-congressional-seat-in-district-that-support-him" target="_blank" rel="noopener">currently running</a> as a Democrat in New York&#8217;s 1st Congressional District. MSNBC&#8217;s Alicia Menendez is the daughter of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/convicted-senator-bob-menendez-will-resign-effective-august-20-reports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">convicted felon</a> and soon-to-be former Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ). NBC News briefly <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/14/business/media/chelsea-clinton-hired-by-nbc-news.html">hired</a> Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, as a correspondent in 2011.

A Daily Wire review of FEC records found no evidence that CNN anchors who have interviewed Trump have donated to Democrats – at least not to any organization that requires public reporting of such donations. But their treatment of the former president is essentially a de facto endorsement of his opponents.
Here are some of the many, many examples of Sciutto’s network and others treating Trump more harshly than Biden or any other Democrat.
Jim Sciutto
Sciutto, who was chief of staff for then-Ambassador to China Gary Locke during the Obama administration, has used his X account to attack Trump and <a href="https://x.com/jimsciutto/status/1788377236275449978?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">defend President Joe Biden.</a> For example, on May 8, Sciutto claimed Trump halted Ukraine aid “for an explicit and personal political favor,” while claiming Biden threatening to halt aid to Israel was merely “over differences over the conduct of the war.”

Collins&#8217; ascension at CNN (after a stint as The Daily Caller’s entertainment reporter) has been marked by biased decisions.
On November 26, 2020, Collins posted a selfie with other CNN reporters bragging about being part of the “crew that got President Trump to answer his first questions in over three weeks.” As others <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/reporters-take-photo-gloat-about-getting-trump-to-answer-questions-get-mocked">noted</a> at the time, neither Collins nor anyone else from CNN bragged about getting Biden to answer a single question as he and Vice President Kamala Harris continued to largely avoid taking questions from reporters.

Blitzer&#8217;s wife donated $250 to the Democratic National Committee in 1996, campaign finance records show. But Blitzer has come under fire for bias. CNN pundit Scott Jennings <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/whos-in-the-hospital-cnn-pundit-fires-back-at-wolf-blitzer-over-both-sides-response-to-trump-rally-shooting">blasted</a> Blitzer for saying “both sides” needed to cool rhetoric after an assassination attempt was made on Trump. Former National Security Advisor John Bolton <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/john-bolton-unloads-on-wolf-blitzer-over-alito-flag-brouhaha-just-over-the-line">excoriated</a> Blitzer for pushing a New York Times-based conspiracy theory that the “Appeal to Heaven” flag – which was designed by George Washington’s private secretary and commissioned for use in the Continental Navy in 1775 — was somehow a symbol of the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots.
Jake Tapper
Tapper, who began his career working for Democratic Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky (now Chelsea Clinton&#8217;s mother-in-law), has used language <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnns-debate-moderators-dont-expect-fairness">comparing</a> Trump to Hitler.
In December 2023, Tapper said, “Trump, a couple of times over the weekend, referred to immigrants from South America, Africa, and Asia, he did not mention Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia as ‘poisoning the blood of our country,’ which if it’s not hyperbole, that does very directly echo Adolf Hitler’s language before World War II, before the Holocaust.”

As The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnns-debate-moderators-dont-expect-fairness">pointed out</a> in June, Tapper and fellow CNN host Dana Bash had the following exchange after the first debate between Trump and Biden in 2020:

Dana Bash: You just took the words out of my mouth. You used some high-minded language. I’m just going to say it like it is: that was a s***show!

He also said, after Trump lost re-election, that the “long national nightmare is over” for tens of millions of his “fellow” Americans.
Dana Bash
Dana Bash&#8217;s ex-husband, Jeremy Bash, gave hundreds to Democrat candidates and organizations during their marriage. After Biden’s 2024 State of the Union speech, Bash praised Biden, “They wanted him to be a fighter, and, boy, a fight did he deliver.”
Just this week, Bash <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnns-dana-bash-slammed-for-lying-about-remarks-made-by-trump-musk-during-their-talk">was caught lying</a> about what billionaire Elon Musk and Trump discussed on X. Bash played a deceptively edited clip giving the implication that Musk and Trump simply said bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki wasn’t bad, when they were discussing that in the larger context of nuclear power and its benefits and dangers.
Sen. J.D. Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jd-vance-shreds-left-wing-cnn-host-dana-bash-for-defending-tim-walz">recently called out</a> Bash for defending Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, after it was shown he has been misleading people about his military service.
Bash also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-anchor-dana-bash-raves-over-bidens-mic-drop-moment-on-hostage-release-but-its-a-lie">complimented</a> a response from Biden that proved to be false. When four hostages were released from Russia in August, a reporter asked Biden about Trump’s claim that he would get the hostages released if he was elected in November, to which Biden asked why Trump didn’t get the hostages out when he was president. Bash commented: “I think that was what they call a ‘mic drop’ moment.”
Only one of those hostages had been taken during Trump’s administration.
Anderson Cooper
Cooper’s on-air commentary also skews toward Democrats, like his 2020 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/brian-stelter-claims-cnn-would-never-air-an-incendiary-phrase-that-anderson-cooper-used-thursday">comment</a> that the Trump re-election campaign was “like a clown car on fire.”
Cooper also has criticized Trump’s selection of Vance as his running mate, asking a guest in July if he thought the Trump campaign was “having any buyer’s remorse,” after the media reshared old videos of Vance’s comments.
Cooper has not asked such a question following Harris’ selection of Walz as her running mate.
Cooper has also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/anderson-cooper-compares-capitol-hill-riot-to-800000-murdered-in-rwanda?%3Futm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=dwtwitter">compared</a> the January 6 Capitol Hill riots to the Rwandan genocide, which saw 800,000 people murdered.
“Part of it, I think, just based on what you were just saying, it comes to mind, the idea of otherizing people is something I think we saw a lot of over the last four years. I mean, certainly we’ve seen a lot over the last decades, but it’s so easy to otherize people, to make people other than, other than American, other than patriotic, other than human,” Cooper said in February 2021. “You know, and we’ve seen it in Bosnia, we’ve seen it in Rwanda, where radio was telling people that you know, Hutus, were telling the radio listeners that Tutsi were cockroaches for you know, getting them ginned up for genocide.”
George Stephanopoulos
Stephanopoulos, ABC&#8217;s top political anchor, came under fire in 2015 after it was discovered that he failed to disclose a $75,000 donation to the Clinton Foundation. Stephanopoulos, who previously worked as President Bill Clinton&#8217;s White House communications director and senior advisor, had a long history of supporting Democrats and undermining Republicans. In 2024, he said it was &#8220;<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/abcs-stephanopoulos-claims-airing-trump-interviews-live-journalistic-malpractice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">journalistic malpractice</a>&#8221; to air live television interviews with Trump, even though he&#8217;s currently running for president. Trump is also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-sues-george-stephanopoulos-abc-news-after-host-said-former-president-was-found-liable-for-rape" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suing</a> Stephanopoulos for defamation after the anchor falsely claimed Trump had been found &#8220;liable for rape.&#8221;
Rachel Scott
The ABC reporter who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-torches-abc-news-rachel-scott-for-very-rude-introduction-after-asking-very-nasty-question" target="_blank" rel="noopener">went viral</a> last month for her hostile question toward Trump at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Conference was a White House intern under President Barack Obama.
Margaret Brennan
On July 13 — the day Trump was shot by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania — Brennan <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cbs-news-cnn-immediately-attack-trump-for-what-he-said-immediately-after-he-got-shot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">disparaged Trump</a> for not immediately making a &#8220;call for lowering the temperature.&#8221; She also berated him for not &#8220;condemning all political violence, and really trying to signal to his supporters as well not to retaliate or to have any kind of escalation.”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cnn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a> network bosses have reportedly pulled veteran anchor Jim Sciutto off the air and ordered him to &#8220;address a personal situation&#8221; following a bad fall in Amsterdam.
The Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11284817/Jim-Sciutto-takes-leave-absence-CNN-ordered-address-personal-situation.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on Wednesday that Sciutto, 52, had not been on the air on Tuesday or Wednesday to host &#8220;CNN Newsroom&#8221; with his co-anchor Poppy Harlow — and that he had been placed on personal leave by the higher-ups.
The report tied Sciutto&#8217;s apparent personal leave to an internal CNN investigation into a &#8220;serious fall&#8221; he suffered in Amsterdam on the way home from one of three trips to Ukraine. Sciutto, who is also the network&#8217;s chief national security correspondent, traveled to the Eastern European nation three times — in February, March, and April — to cover to ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
According to a <a href="https://elink.thedailybeast.com/view/5b4ace787e55546bec167f8fhf0wr.b28/ed565e6f" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> published last week by The Daily Beast&#8217;s Confider, on at least one of those trips — despite the fact that CNN offered a more direct flight back from Poland to the United States — Sciutto and his producer apparently opted to make a stop in the Dutch capital on his way home. While there, he suffered what was described as a &#8220;serious fall.&#8221; Confider noted that the anchor had &#8220;since recovered,&#8221; but was then &#8220;directed by CNN to address a &#8216;personal situation.’”
Neither CNN nor Sciutto has publicly addressed his absence from the airwaves.
The network has appeared to struggle in the weeks and months since it merged with Warner Bros. Discovery and new head honcho Chris Licht took the reins. Licht has repeatedly and explicitly declared his intention to bring CNN back to a <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/cnn-announces-new-programming-plan-and-elon-musk-is-already-on-board/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more balanced approach</a> to reporting the news — and he has already presided over a number of shakeups within the company.
Among the casualties so far are veteran media reporter <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/breaking-brian-stelter-out-at-cnn-after-network-cancels-his-show/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brian Stelter</a>, former chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, and longtime White House correspondent <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/cnn-white-house-correspondent-john-harwood-out-at-network/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">John Harwood</a>. And prior to the merger, former network chief Jeff Zucker resigned over a consensual but undisclosed relationship with Allison Gollust (she left CNN a short time later). Popular anchor <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/he-wants-megyn-kelly-money-report-claims-chris-cuomo-could-hit-cnn-for-up-to-60-million/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chris Cuomo</a> was fired just weeks earlier over reports that he advised his embattled brother, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, amid multiple scandals regarding sexual misconduct allegations and concerns that he had mishandled his state&#8217;s response to COVID.

CNN anchor Jim Sciutto claimed on Friday that Pope Francis did not support barring pro-abortion politicians like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from receiving Communion in the Catholic Church — but that&#8217;s not exactly what Pope Francis has said on the matter.
Sciutto shared an article from the San Francisco Chronicle announcing that Archbishop of San Francisco had <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/nancy-pelosi-banned-from-receiving-communion-over-her-abortion-stances/">banned Pelosi from receiving Communion</a> due to her public advocacy for abortion access.
Along with the article, Sciutto tweeted, &#8220;12 years of Catholic school, altar boy, family deeply involved in our church, and never saw anyone banned from receiving communion. This is a deep fissure in the church — and a position Pope Francis himself doesn&#8217;t support.&#8221;

But Pope Francis <a href="https://cruxnow.com/vatican/2021/09/pope-says-pro-choice-politicians-outside-community-of-church-but-urges-pastoral-response">did not say</a> that he did not support individual pastors making the decision whether or not to deny access to the sacrament in specific cases — in fact, that&#8217;s exactly what he told them they must do.
He addressed the issue last September, telling journalists onboard the Papal plane that Catholics who supported abortion were &#8220;outside the community&#8221; and that the sacrament of Communion was for those who were &#8220;in the community,&#8221; or not estranged from it.
He argued that pastors should make those decisions themselves — and was careful to note that it was not about condemnation but about caring for them as parishioners. &#8220;And what should the pastor do? He shouldn’t go around condemning. And he must also be a pastor with those who are excommunicated, and be so with God’s style, which is closeness, compassion and tenderness.”
His reasoning was that although some people might be temporarily estranged from the Church, they were still &#8220;children of God and need our pastoral action.&#8221;
He reserved harsher terms for abortion, however, saying that it was &#8220;more than a problem: It’s a homicide. No middle terms. Whomever does an abortion, kills.&#8221;
He later compared seeking an abortion to &#8220;hiring a hitman&#8221; to solve a problem, saying that the Church could not accept abortion because that would be akin to accepting &#8220;daily homicide.&#8221;
And Pelosi is certainly not the first Catholic politician to have her access to the sacrament restricted. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) <a href="https://www.ncregister.com/blog/not-a-happy-experience-pro-abortion-sen-dick-durbin-on-his-17-year-communion-ban">has been barred</a> from Communion in his home diocese in Springfield, Illinois, for nearly two decades. In 2004, then then-Father Kevin Vann (now Bishop of Orange, California) informed Durbin that because of his pro-abortion stance, he would not be allowed to receive Communion in his home church.
Durbin responded by accusing the Church of &#8220;using the Eucharist for political purposes.&#8221;

&#8220;Is this really it?&#8221; Sciutto asked, sharing a statement from White House press secretary Jen Psaki on the Biden administration&#8217;s immediate response to Putin, which he reportedly planned to implement on Monday using an executive order.

Psaki issued the statement immediately following the news that Russia had officially recognized two pro-Russia regions of Ukraine — Donetsk and Luhansk — as independent republics, promptly signing treaties with them and raising the concern that he could send Russian troops into those regions under the pretext of defending them in accordance with those treaties.

We will also soon announce additional measures related to today’s blatant violation of Russia’s international commitments.

The White House has said for weeks that Russia was likely to invade Ukraine and would probably use a &#8220;false flag&#8221; operation to provide cover and legitimacy for any such incursion.
As The Daily Wire <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/breaking-u-s-claims-russia-planning-false-flag-operation-in-ukraine-to-provoke-invasion/">reported</a>:

Is this an apple or a banana? That&#8217;s the question we&#8217;re all asking after two CNN reporters fell for an obvious photoshop showing a Tunisian being hoisted into the air by protesters while appearing to hold a chainsaw.
It was an obvious photoshop. Ben Wedeman, CNN&#8217;s senior international correspondent, first tweeted the image.

The tweet is still up, for now. It&#8217;s such an obvious photoshop that one might wonder whether Wedeman knew this when he shared the image.
But it appears CNN&#8217;s chief national security correspondent, Jim Sciutto, was unaware of the fake, as he retweeted Wedeman&#8217;s tweet, adding &#8220;wow.&#8221; Sciutto has since deleted his tweet without explanation after leaving it up for an hour.
As The Daily Caller&#8217;s Peter J. Hasson noted, the image <a href="https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/jasmine-revolution-tunisia-anniversary_us_56993211e4b0b4eb759e367c">is actually from 2011</a> and contained no chainsaw &#8212; it was a small cage with a Tunisian flag on it.

The left-leaning media has gone all in against Saudi Arabia after Saudi national Jamal Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. Khashoggi occasionally wrote op-eds for The Washington Post, and therefore has received martyr status by the U.S. media, despite the fact that he&#8217;s not a citizen and sympathized with the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist organization (though not designated by the U.S. government as such).
President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/statement-president-donald-j-trump-standing-saudi-arabia/">released a statement</a> on November 20 saying the U.S. would not end its relationship with Saudi Arabia over the death of one man. This, naturally, angered U.S. media outlets that already hate Trump even more. Left-leaning outlets have already pounced on any information that made Saudi Arabia look bad, leading to retractions. In October, Reuters <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/37231/literal-fake-news-reuters-pulls-article-after-ashe-schow">had to retract an article</a> claiming the Saudi consul in Istanbul was fired and being investigated after it fell for a fake news website modeled to look like an old version of the Saudi online newspaper Sabq.
As always, these mistakes always seem to favor one side.
At least we&#8217;ll get some more decent photoshops out of the episode.

&#8220;Sovereignty, that&#8217;s a loaded term,&#8221; said CNN&#8217;s Jim Sciutto on Tuesday&#8217;s CNN Tonight, commenting on President Donald Trump&#8217;s references to national and state sovereignty during a Tuesday address at the United Nations.
Sciutto was joined by The New Yorker&#8217;s Robin Wright in deriding sovereignty as an archaic value in the contemporary period.
&#8220;Sovereignty,&#8221; said Sciutto, &#8220;is a term cynically deployed by authoritarian states to shield themselves from foreign criticisms.&#8221;

WRIGHT: What was kind of curious about the whole speech was that it went in counter to almost every major trend of the 21st century. This is a moment of globalization and connection, and [Donald Trump] was talking about, &#8220;We need greater sovereignty,&#8221; as if we&#8217;re all threatened. As if every country needs borders to cut them off from the rest of the world, and that&#8217;s the only way to provide security.
And I think this is what&#8217;s so shocking to so many people; coming together at the United Nations, this institution built in the aftermath of World War II, to try to find means of preventing conflict and working together. And the president was in some ways saying, &#8220;The world be damned. We are going to act in our own interests, you act in your interests,&#8221; and it&#8217;s not an issue of values or democracy, it wasn&#8217;t a picture speech, it was very focused, and it was in many ways not just a Trump doctrine, it was a Trump war doctrine. Whether it was threatening the North Koreans on the verge of talking about regime change in Iran, it was critical of Russia and China, threatening military action in Venezuela, this had an aggressive undertone throughout. &#8230;
SCIUTTO This idea of sovereignty, that&#8217;s a loaded term. This is a favorite expression of authoritarian leaders from China to Russia to African dictatorships. It&#8217;s about, &#8220;We all have different values. Don&#8217;t preach to me about human rights.&#8221; You&#8217;ve often heard that kind of rhetoric pushing back at America saying, &#8220;Democracy, open society is the way forward.&#8221;
So to hear an American president, that&#8217;s a real departure from the public comments [of previous presidents], and really a tenet of US foreign policy &#8212; Democrat and Republican &#8212; for decades about, not just the U.S. as a democratic example, but supporting democracy abroad.

Sovereignty has been the pillar of international relations since the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, with earlier iterations across previous times and in other regions. Undergraduate students studying politics typically learn this concept in their first year of university or college study.
Democrats and the broader left essentially oppose national and state sovereignty in pursuit of international centralization of power. Communist ideology prescribes and foresees international global governance and the destruction of nations and states in pursuit of a singular unification of humanity; national and state sovereignty are incrementally eroded toward this end.
Leftists leverage international organizations such as the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank to erode national and state sovereignty in pursuit of further convergence of global governance.
Sciutto is CNN&#8217;s chief national security correspondent, focusing on foreign affairs and international relations.

Speaking with CNN colleague Jim Sciutto, Blitzer drew a tentative connection between today&#8217;s Islamic terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain, and the previous weekend&#8217;s unrest in Charlottesville, VA; the latter including the killing of a 32-year-old woman after being struck by a vehicle operated by a &#8220;Unite the Right&#8221; rally attendee.

The afGov. John Kasich (R-OH) sang the praises of America&#8217;s news media landscape in a <a href="http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1702/19/sotu.01.html">Sunday interview</a> with CNN&#8217;s Jim Sciutto , saying, &#8220;I have great respect for the press.&#8221;

Invited by Sciutto to join Sen. John McCain&#8217;s <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-mccain-idUSKBN15Y07R">description</a> of President Donald Trump&#8217;s criticisms of news media outlets as dictatorial, Kasich spoke of applause he received from the press:

&#8220;What I have said to the press in Ohio and around the country and here in Munich is, thank God you&#8217;re there. You&#8217;re there that have to &#8212; to hold people accountable.

And without a free press &#8212; well, we&#8217;re going to have a free press. And while I don&#8217;t always agree with the reporting of the press, they are vital. They are really such an important part of democracy.

And when I met just recently with press all across the state of Ohio, some that are very critical of me, when I walked into the room, they applauded me. And I got on the stage and I said, I applaud you for following the facts and reporting a story even at times when it is not easy. 

I have great respect for the press. I was once in the press. The key, though, is not to be oversensationalizing everything, but get to the facts. Let the investigation of the press go where it wants. Tell the story. 

That&#8217;s a part of America. And it&#8217;s a part of an institution that works to make sure that things have balance.&#8221;

At no point did Kasich comment on widespread left-wing or partisan Democrat biases across the news media landscape or the <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Left-Turn-Liberal-Distorts-American/dp/1250002761">impact of such biases</a> in bending American public opinion.

Left-wing and Democrat-aligned news media outlets and their allies have recently described Trump&#8217;s criticisms of various news media outlets&#8217; conduct as a broad undermining of the First Amendment, conflating such criticisms with moves to subvert constitutional protections for a free press.

Left-wing CNN Democrats Jake Tapper and Jim Sciutto pushed the narrative of President Donald Trump as irresponsible for supposedly not having consulted the “career staff” of the National Counterterrorism Center and Department of Homeland Security prior to the recent issuance of an executive order to largely restrict admission of foreigners from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Sciutto: &#8220;Well, not the principal agencies responsible for protecting the homeland from terror threats. We know that retired General John Kelly, the Department of Homeland Security secretary &#8211; he received the final details only on Friday. Same true for the career staff at the National Counterterrorism center, also not consulted in the decision-making process on this, which raises questions, and we’ve seen the problems already about implementation. If you don’t have the actual officers out there and agencies responsible for taking people into the country knowing the details, that’s led to some of the problems we’ve seen at airports home and abroad. But also raises questions about the rationale, if the two primary agencies responsible for protecting the homeland from terror threats weren’t part of the decision-making process, what was the rationale behind this move?&#8221;
Tapper: &#8220;Now Jim, I have some reporting this morning. Sources are telling me that White House policy director Stephen Miller told government officials yesterday that the American people are firmly behind this executive order and not to be distracted by the hysterical voice on television, that’s how he put it.&#8221;</blockquote>
Tapper and Sciutto then described <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2017/01/29/national-security-council-stephen-bannon-presidential-memo/97210776/">Trump’s placement of Stephen Bannon</a> &#8211; described as “such a partisan political figure” on the National Security Council (NSC) as “odd” and “unprecedented.” Former President Barack Obama’s NSC staff <a href="https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/blog/2017/01/17/reflecting-nscs-greatest-asset-its-people-0">included</a> former Vice-President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Leon Panetta, Rahm Emanuel, and Susan Rice.
Neither Tapper nor Sciutto have ever questioned Obama&#8217;s issuance of executive orders with implied critiques of a lack of consultation with federal agencies.

Tapper and Sciutto both present themselves as objective and nonpartisan reporters.
