<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Fitness influencer Jillian Michaels was amazed to discover that Jesus Christ was a real person whose existence was chronicled in texts beyond just the Bible.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The conversation took place during an episode of Michaels’ podcast while she was speaking with world-class historian and Hoover Institution senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hanson was discussing the specific issues the Romans had with Jesus, which prompted her to admit that she was surprised to learn his existence was widely accepted as a historical fact.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> “I thought we didn&#8217;t even know this guy… this is going to infuriate people and I&#8217;m so sorry and I stay out of it, but I thought we weren&#8217;t even really sure whether or not Jesus existed and the apostles wrote this stuff hundreds of years ago,” Michaels said. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hoover explained, “We have Roman documents completely separate from religion, that he was a magnetic, he was a romantic, wonderful person to the people who knew him and he had staged a revolution and that presented a problem in this troublesome province.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The historian recounted how Pontius Pilate was a Roman official who was most interested in keeping peace in the region, so he pushed the blame for Jesus being put to death onto the Pharisees, using the justification that this move helped achieve that goal.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hanson also noted how Jesus’ teachings were the antithesis of what the Romans believed. “He&#8217;s got a new religion and unfortunately it&#8217;s turned the other cheek, brotherhood of man, blessed are the meek, blessed are the poor, that&#8217;s not Roman. We have a Roman military ethos that the strong inherit the earth and if an enemy offends you, you hit him twice. And this guy is preaching something very different,” the historian explained.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“When anybody says that the Jews killed Jesus, it&#8217;s more like the Romans wanted a quiet province and they did not like Jesus and what he represented was anti-Roman…So they said basically, well, in Judaism, in Judea, the Jewish establishment, the religious establishment doesn&#8217;t like him any more than we do. So we can get rid of him and then say the Pharisees basically did it.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“This is so wild. I&#8217;m sorry. I know it&#8217;s not wild for people who know this information, but I genuinely thought, okay, the Jews had the Old Testament, the Torah, and then maybe there was this guy, Jesus,” Michaels said as she looked on in awe. “The apostles wrote stuff, but the first guy who wrote something was like 90 or so years later. We think maybe there&#8217;s some Dead Sea Scrolls kind of mentioned this guy, Jesus.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Michaels doesn’t talk much about religion publicly, but </span><a href="https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/jillian-michaels-stands-by-criticism-of-the-olympics-opening-ceremony/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">described herself</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> as “not a religious person” and “agnostic” in 2024. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Fitness influencer Jillian Michaels is not pleased with her portrayal in a new documentary about the reality competition show “The Biggest Loser.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser” debuted on Netflix on August 15 and became an instant hit. The three-part limited series explored incidents from behind the scenes at NBC’s popular reality series, which featured overweight contestants vying to lose the most weight and win a cash prize. Michaels was a trainer on the series for several seasons, but did not participate in the Netflix documentary. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Now the fitness expert is breaking her silence on some of the allegations made in the documentary by former co-host Bob Harper, former medical consultant Dr. Robert Huizenga, and former contestants. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Michaels shared her thoughts on the allegations through a series of social media posts. The first showed alleged email communication about supplying contestants with caffeine pills, which the workout coach said was done with the full support of both Harper and Huizenga.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> “Wild how some folks still lie like it’s 1985 before texts and email were a thing,” Michaels wrote in one of the posts, saying her co-host and the medical consultant “not only knew about the caffeine pills,” but approved of them being used. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Caffeine was NEVER banned on The Biggest Loser,” she added.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In a </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DNi3TDhJLt8/?hl=en&amp;img_index=1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">second post</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, Michaels responded to “the allegation that I restricted contestants from eating enough calories” by sharing “direct written correspondence” from Season 11 winner Olivia Ward. </span></p>
<p>The email shows Michaels instructing Ward to “eat 1600 [calories] tomorrow,” directly contradicting contestant Suzanne Mendonca’s claim in the documentary that she and others were restricted to just 800 calories per day.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A third Instagram post refuted the claim about something Michaels allegedly said during the show’s finale.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“In response to the claim in the documentary that I told a contestant at the show’s finale, ‘You’re going to make me a millionaire,’ I want to state unequivocally that this is false,” she wrote. “The full moment was captured on camera, and both the contestant and I were wearing microphones. If such a comment had been made, it would exist on the audio record.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Furthermore, two of the show’s executive producers, Mark Koops and Dave Broome, have each provided written statements in text messages to my business partner confirming that this exchange never occurred,” the post went on. “For clarity, below are their texts verifying that no such comment was ever made.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Michaels also </span><a href="https://www.tmz.com/2025/08/19/jillian-michaels-interview-documentary-lawsuit/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">told</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> TMZ on Tuesday that the docuseries is “filled with so many lies, and, of course, I have the emails and the text messages to back all this up.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She told the outlet that she was meeting with her lawyer to potentially pursue legal action against Netflix, Harper, and Huizenga.</span></p>

<p>Michaels told Sage Steele this week on &#8220;The Sage Steele Show&#8221; that she holds all the cards in &#8220;woke victimology poker&#8221; and even she thinks Democrats in the state have &#8220;gone way too far.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I grew up here. I’m a woman. I’m a gay woman. My mom’s a Jew. My dad’s an Arab. I have a black kid. And believe it or not, my son is half Latin, even though he doesn’t look like it,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I hold a million cards in your game of woke victimology poker. And when I leave California, maybe you’ve lost your f***ing mind. Just maybe! When you have me running from home, maybe it’s gone way too far.&#8221;</p>
<p>She said the laws that are being passed in the legislature and signed into law by far-Left Governor Gavin Newsom are &#8220;absolutely f***ing mind boggling.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;In relation to crime, protecting our kids, like, we’re decriminalizing everything, which arguably I would probably be okay with, but we’re not regulating any of it,” she said. “So it’s like, okay, you’re gonna decriminalize sex work, but only so women can loiter on the streets, not to keep them safe, not to have them pay taxes, not to make them, you know, regularly check for STDs, not to take away the pimps out of the equation.&#8221;</p>
<p>She specifically slammed the state for backing highly controversial and dangerous transgender procedures for minors.</p>
<p>“The fact that a 12-year-old child can be put on off-label cancer drugs to irreparably change their body,&#8221; she said. &#8220;If my son came to me and said, ‘Mom’ — or my daughter — ‘I think I’m trans,&#8217; I&#8217;d say, okay, you know, like, you want to dress this way, you want me to call you whatever the heck you want, dress, fine. Explore it. I love you. I’m cool, do you as long as we’re safe, but we’re not changing your body until it’s fully developed. I’m sorry. Conversation’s over. Can’t get a f***ing tattoo!”</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">During the celebrity fitness trainer’s recent appearance on “</span><a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13342963/Celebrity-trainer-Jillian-Michaels-trans-athletes-banned-girls.html"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Fox and Friends</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">,” Michaels told the hosts that it doesn’t matter when a biological male starts taking puberty blockers, it’s biology that males are stronger and faster.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">You&#8217;ve got two competing goals in sports,” Michaels said. “One is inclusion, which everybody can understand and get on board with.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“However, the second goal that&#8217;s in direct opposition with inclusion in this instance is going to be a fair competition,” she added. “If your overriding priority is going to be fairness over inclusion, you&#8217;ve got to turn to the data.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“And the data irrefutably shows that biological males are 10 to 30 percent stronger, faster, have better endurance, better aerobic capacity across the board,” Michaels continued.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Michaels said that the trans-identifying male&#8217;s “grip strength was 17 percent greater than the female on testosterone and puberty blockers.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Michaels&#8217; appearance comes days after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/grotesque-betrayal-of-students-critics-blast-bidens-new-title-ix-regulations-championing-gender-identity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Joe Biden</a>’s administration announced a massive revision to Title IX &#8212; </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">a policy that was originally enacted to protect women and girls &#8212; to now </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">to protect trans-identifying people.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Friday, Biden and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona revised the law enacted in 1972, which, in </span><a href="https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/t9-final-rule-summary.pdf"><span style="font-weight: 400;">summary,</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> now “clarifies that sex discrimination includes discrimination based on sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Former Senior Counsel at the U.S. Department of Education Sarah Parshall Perry blasted the move and said, “Under the new rule, girls and women will no longer have any sex-separated bathrooms, locker rooms, housing accommodations, or other educational programs. Women’s sports are likely endangered, too.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Any education institution, including many private schools that receive even nominal federal funding, will be affected by this rule,” she added. “The rule also erases other important protections, like due process protections for students accused of sexual misconduct, free speech protections for students and teachers who don’t want to use ‘preferred pronouns,’ and parents’ right to know if their child is in the process of a gender identity ‘social transition’ at school.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Nicole Neily, president of Parents Defending Education, echoed Perry&#8217;s sentiment, calling the move</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> “grotesque,” and accused the White House of capitulating “to extremists in his party, sacrificing the First Amendment on the altar of Title IX and disregarding clearly established Supreme Court precedent on the definition of sexual harassment.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Former “Biggest Loser” trainer and fitness coach </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jillian-michaels"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jillian Michaels</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> warned against the dangers of the semaglutide injection drug Ozempic, which is primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes but is frequently used for </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/obesity"><span style="font-weight: 400;">weight loss</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ozempic has become a popular pick among </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities"><span style="font-weight: 400;">celebrities</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> for weight loss, with big-name stars, including Sharon Osbourne and Oprah, admitting to using the drug to drop pounds. But Michaels cautions users about some of the drug’s side effects, which she says outweigh the benefits.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;If it was the easy way out, I would recommend it,&#8221; the 49-year-old fitness coach </span><a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/biggest-loser-star-jillian-michaels-warns-against-ozempic-use-these-celebrities-are-not-health-experts"><span style="font-weight: 400;">told</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Fox News Digital during an interview published Wednesday. &#8220;I&#8217;d be like, ‘Fantastic, let me get in the business. Let me get my app on board. Let me sell these drugs through my app.’ Just like Weight Watchers.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Of course, I would get in line and profit like crazy if I didn&#8217;t really believe these things were bad, based on the research that&#8217;s already out there,&#8221; Michaels added.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The “Biggest Loser” trainer cautioned people against taking health advice from untrained celebrities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“All these celebrities are not health experts,&#8221; Michaels told Fox News. &#8220;They&#8217;re not nutritionists. They&#8217;re not fitness experts. And they don&#8217;t spend all day talking to doctors.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She continued, saying, &#8220;Every medication, whether it&#8217;s antibiotics or vaccines, have a cost-benefit analysis. They all have side effects. So, when we look at Ozempic and all of those drugs there are many side effects from extremely nefarious to just absolutely sh***y, no pun intended.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Michaels mentioned both common and serious </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/users-say-ozempic-causing-one-really-gross-side-effect"><span style="font-weight: 400;">side effects</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> associated with semaglutide, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, pancreatitis, changes in vision, kidney issues, and gallbladder problems.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She also mentioned a phenomenon that’s been nicknamed “Ozempic face.” This happens when a person using the drug loses weight too quickly, which results in sagging skin, especially in the face. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Finally, the fitness coach pointed out how people who use Ozempic for weight loss will need to stay on the medication to maintain the benefits if they don’t change their lifestyle. She argues that since the medication is an appetite suppressant, the same results can be achieved without resorting to using Ozempic.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;You will plateau on Ozempic. It will stop working right around the 18-month to two-year mark. It&#8217;s going to stop working. Now what are you going to do? <p>Fitness entrepreneur <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fitness-guru-jillian-michaels-gets-blasted-for-saying-obesity-should-not-be-glamorized" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jillian Michaels</a> bluntly spoke her mind this week about transgender athletes competing against girls and women in female sports during an interview with podcast host Tomi Lahren.</p>
<p>Michaels emphasized that sports are &#8220;biological&#8221; and men can simply not compete against females due to those biological differences. Safety and fairness, Michaels said, are key factors.</p>
<p>“Sports is biological. It just is,” she told Lahren. “And I think that you’re starting to actually see women get hurt.”</p>
<p>“<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thats-fed-joe-rogan-talks-trans-swimmer-destroying-female-competitors-fallon-fox-comments" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fallon Fox</a>, for example, is an MMA fighter who is a transgender female. Beating the s*** &#8230; out of biological women,&#8221; Michaels said. &#8220;Like, this is beyond the fact of fairness. What we have trouble with as a society is &#8216;fairness,&#8217; right? Everybody wants to be &#8216;fair.&#8217; It’s not fair.&#8221;</p>
<p>“Here’s the problem,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;I understand it’s not fair to trans athletes, because where are they going to compete? It’s also not fair to biological female athletes. You have an issue, right? You’re not going to be able to be fair to everyone.&#8221;</p>
<p>As noted by Michaels, Fox, a male who identifies as transgender, made headlines when he <a href="https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/transgender-female-boxer-gives-female-opponent-concussion-breaks-her-eye-so" target="_blank" rel="noopener">competed</a> in MMA fights against women and physically hurt them. In one such fight, Fox dominated female fighter Tamikka Brents, winning by knockout in the first round. Fox broke Brents&#8217; eye socket and gave her a concussion.</p>

<p>“Like Lia Thomas is 6-foot-1,&#8221; Michaels said, referring to the transgender NCAA swimmer who is male and formerly competed against men before switching to female athletics. &#8220;The percentage of biological females who are 6-foot-1 is under 1%. Lia Thomas was number 400 when she swam as a male. And number one when she swam as a female.&#8221;</p>
<p>Thomas made news last year when he dominated the women&#8217;s NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming Championships. NCAA swimmer-turned-advocate Riley Gaines competed in the women’s 200 freestyle at the tournament and placed fifth, tying with Thomas. Only Thomas received the fifth place trophy for the photo-op after the event, while Gaines was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-left-there-with-no-trophy-ncaa-female-swimmer-who-tied-for-fifth-with-trans-athlete-says-officials-put-lia-thomas-ahead-of-her" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> by the NCAA that her trophy would come in the mail.</p>
<p>“We’re going to systematically destroy women’s sports,&#8221; Michaels added. &#8220;I’m sorry, listen, if you want to be trans, I support you. I want you to have all the same rights that I do. But at the end of the day, someone’s going to get<i> &#8216;</i>effed here. And if you’re looking at, okay, you’ve got X amount of trans athletes and X amount of women, you’re not going to win this one. Right. No one’s coming out unscathed.”</p>

<p>On January 8, fitness guru Jillian Michaels appeared on Buzzfeed’s morning show “AM to DM” on Twitter.</p>
<p>During the segment, host Alex Berg praised singers like Lizzo for “preaching self-acceptance.” This led to the following exchange between Berg and Michaels:</p>
<blockquote><p>MICHAELS: I love her music, yeah, 100%. I don’t know anything about her. I’m sure she’s a cool, awesome chick.</p>
<p>BERG: Yeah, and I love that they’re putting images out there that we normally don’t get to see of bodies that we don’t get to see being celebrated.</p>
<p>MICHAELS: But why are we celebrating her body? Why does it matter? That’s what I’m saying. Why aren’t we celebrating her music? Because it isn’t going to be awesome if she gets diabetes. I’m just being honest. I love her music, like, my kid loves her music, but there’s never a moment when I’m like, “And I’m so glad she’s overweight.” Like, why do I even care? Why is it my job to care about her weight?</p></blockquote>

<blockquote><p>BERG: Well, you&#8217;ve said before that you think political correctness has gone too far in the health and fitness world. What did you mean by that?</p>
<p>MICHAELS: Political correctness has just, like, come so – I can&#8217;t even – I think it’s insane, and it&#8217;s like, the pendulum, just, as far as it swings in one direction, it swings back in the other, right? And you&#8217;ve got these crazy extremes whereas, “Oh, she&#8217;s, you know, she&#8217;s too fat to be a pop star!” Well, you say things like that, and you know, then there&#8217;s gonna be, you should never be able to say things like that, right? But for years, people were. They could fat-shame, and they could exclude people, and they could make people feel less than in all forms of media, and we should always be inclusive, but you cannot glorify obesity. It’s dangerous. It kills people. It’s the number one cause of bankruptcy in our country.</p>
<p>So, there&#8217;s a middle ground here. Now it&#8217;s like, “Oh, that woman is 250 pounds! Good for her!” and it&#8217;s like, it shouldn&#8217;t be one way or the other. It’s really no one&#8217;s business to comment. It’s not something you should judge. It’s not something you should celebrate. That woman&#8217;s health is up to her – but, I mean, 250 pounds, I would say 999 times out of 1,000 is going to mean heart disease, cancer, diabetes, autoimmune issues, and early death.</p>
<p>BERG: I have to say, I personally found, and I love celebrities like Lizzo or Ashley Graham who are really preaching self-acceptance.</p>

<p>BERG: For a lot of people, that image resonates that they feel good enough, and actually, I want to get to a tweet about this that was in response to your conversation with Wendy Williams yesterday when you spoke a little bit about body positivity, and Cocoa Popps tweeted: “Saw Jillian Michaels talk about people ‘celebrating obesity.’ Body positivity isn&#8217;t about celebrating being unhealthy. (and you can be overweight and be healthy.) It’s embracing yourself without society&#8217;s permission. Very disappointed by what she said and the presumptive tone.” So, what do you say to a response like that?</p>
<p>MICAHELS: Okay, I would say, first of all, most people that are that are morbidly obese are not healthy. Now, if they&#8217;re working on losing weight – and because they&#8217;re working out and they&#8217;re eating right you can reverse that stuff pretty quick – but I mean, I&#8217;ve been doing this a real long time. I have yet to meet a person that&#8217;s gotten themselves to 200, 250, 300 pounds, and the doctor goes, “Looking good!” I mean, no. Just no. Just no. So, I would say to Cocoa Popps, like, first of all, this isn&#8217;t what you do, so you don&#8217;t know. You haven&#8217;t been to the doctor with person after person after person after person that&#8217;s 100 lbs overweight and looked at their labs – like, you just, you don&#8217;t know. That’s not what you do.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not saying, and never have I said, that we shouldn&#8217;t be inclusive and accepting. I&#8217;m saying that I don&#8217;t love Lizzo because she&#8217;s overweight. I like her because of her music – and by the way, if you said to me, like, “Hey, Lizzo can live to be 90 and motivate people, or she can die at 60 and motivate people,” why wouldn&#8217;t I say, like, “I really hope she&#8217;s as healthy as she can be”? It’s not about saying that I don&#8217;t respect her, [that] I don&#8217;t think she&#8217;s awesome. I absolutely do, but I also would hate to see her get sick, and I mean &#8230; it&#8217;s the number one cause of bankruptcy in the country, like, come on! It’s a problem. These are facts.</p></blockquote>

Jillian Michaels Posts Pic Of Herself When She Was Overweight After Lizzo Blow Up

<p>Fitness icon Jillian Michaels (&#8220;The Biggest Loser&#8221;) has defended her critique of pop singer Lizzo&#8217;s body positivity image in response to critics claiming she &#8220;body-shamed&#8221; her for daring to point out that obesity leads to serious health issues.</p>
<p>In an exclusive <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2020/01/09/jillian-michaels-defend-lizzo-fat-shaming-comment-health-diabetes/">interview with TMZ</a> on Thursday, Michaels said that her comments had nothing to do with Lizzo&#8217;s worth as a human being and everything to do with her position as a health expert.</p>
<p>&#8220;Look, I&#8217;m a health expert,&#8221; Michaels told TMZ. &#8220;For decades, I have said your weight and your size have no bearing or merit on your value, your beauty, your worth, your ability. Where it does have relevance is your health. And to pretend that it doesn&#8217;t is not only irresponsible, it&#8217;s dangerous. And it&#8217;s just not a lie I&#8217;m willing to tell because it&#8217;s politically correct.&#8221;</p>
<p>Michaels went on to say that her &#8220;overall point&#8221; is that loving oneself does not exclude taking care of one&#8217;s health.</p>
<p>&#8220;My overall point is to take care of your health because you love yourself,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;That&#8217;s kind of the whole point. And that we should value people based on their skills and their abilities. It should be irrelevant what size they are.&#8221;</p>
<p>Ultimately, Michaels&#8217; critique had less to do with Lizzo&#8217;s weight and more to do with how segments of the media have been celebrating her body for smashing traditional standards of beauty while seeming to have no regard for the health consequences. Even in her <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jillian-michaels-on-lizzo-why-are-we-celebrating-her-body-wont-be-awesome-if-she-gets-diabetes">interview with Buzzfeed</a> on Wednesday, Michaels simply pointed out her health concerns and did not denounce Lizzo as an individual.</p>
<p>“I have to say, I have personally found and I love celebrities like Lizzo or Ashley Graham who are really preaching self-acceptance,” the Buzzfeed host said.</p>
<p>“I love her music, yeah, 100 percent,” Michaels responded. “I don’t know anything about her, I’m sure she’s a cool, awesome chick.”</p>

<p>During the interview, Michaels stated that the celebration of obesity is dangerous, and only encouraged by political correctness:</p>
<blockquote><p>I think we’re politically correct to the point of endangering people. Yes, we want to be inclusive of everyone [and respect that] everyone comes in all different shapes and sizes&#8230;</p>
<p>That nobody should ever be body shamed or fat shamed or excluded and that everyone is equally deserving and should feel equally valuable. But obesity in itself is not something that should be glamourised. But we’ve become so politically correct that no one wants to say it.</p></blockquote>
<p>She later added that the reason shows like “The Biggest Loser” aren’t promoted to the degree they once were is due to political correctness: “I think the world has shifted to a place where that format and messaging is considered fat shaming. But it isn’t, and it’s not meant to be. Now we’ve gone so far in the opposite direction.”</p>

<p>Michaels hasn’t responded to Jamil’s tweet, nor has she tweeted anything regarding the backlash her comments have generated.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/weight-management/adult-overweight-obesity/health-risks">National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases</a> (NIDDKD) reports that being overweight or obese can contribute to developing Type II diabetes, heart disease, various cancers, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep apnea, metabolic syndrome, fatty liver diseases, kidney disease, and osteoarthritis, among other things.</p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1614362">study</a> published in The New England Journal of Medicine, “in 2015, high BMI contributed to 4.0 million deaths &#8230; which represented 7.1% &#8230; of the deaths from any cause; it also contributed to 120 million disability-adjusted life-years &#8230; which represented 4.9% &#8230; of disability-adjusted life-years from any cause among adults globally. A total of 39% of the deaths and 37% of the disability-adjusted life-years that were related to high BMI occurred in persons with a BMI of less than 30.”</p>
