When Warrior Chief Kaʻiana discovers he&#8217;s been manipulated into massacring the peaceful villagers of the island of O’ahu, Apple TV+&#8217;s &#8220;Chief of War&#8221; reveals a disturbing truth about power that transcends any single culture or era. This historical drama, starring Jason Momoa, follows the former Kauaʻi chief who made his home on Maui in self-exile, disgusted by the violent nature of Kauai’s King Kahekili. When Kahekili draws him back under false pretenses — claiming the young king of O&#8217;ahu poses a threat to Maui — Kaʻiana reluctantly participates in what becomes a massacre that turns out to be a peaceful farming community whose king honored the same peaceful ideals Kaʻiana himself embodied.
Set against the backdrop of increasing British arrivals and the looming unification of Hawaiʻi under Kamehameha I, the series examines the collision between noble intentions and brutal realities. Kamehameha&#8217;s unification campaign involved systematic warfare across the island chain, employing both traditional Hawaiian tactics and newly acquired Western firearms — a cruel irony that mirrors the show&#8217;s central themes of violence in pursuit of ostensibly noble goals. This historical trajectory proves grimly prophetic: the unified Kingdom of Hawaiʻi eventually fell to American and European colonization in 1893, became a U.S. territory in 1898, and was subsequently admitted as a U.S. state in 1959 — exactly as the native Hawaiians had feared when they first witnessed increasing numbers of white men discovering their islands.
&#8220;Chief of War&#8221; weaves together several powerful themes: preserving the cultural identity of native Hawaiian people, examining the practical ideals of unification alongside the horrific violence that ensued in this pursuit, and exploring the moral complexities of leadership during times of both internal warfare and external threats from forces seeking to subjugate the kingdom. These themes resonate well with contemporary American political discourse, where we continually hear from the progressive left that America is fundamentally a nation of occupiers and usurpers — a country built on the backs of those it has enslaved and subjugated, requiring comprehensive amends for historical injustices against enslaved blacks, native Americans, and islanders now under its rule. This narrative has shaped everything from reparations debates to land acknowledgments, creating a political narrative that often reduces complex historical realities to simple victim-oppressor dynamics.

While America should fully acknowledge its horrific past of enslavement, betrayals, and subjection of indigenous peoples, these actions represent examples of the universal human condition rather than uniquely European evil. In &#8220;Chief of War,&#8221; we witness the violent, power-hungry Kahekili betraying his own nephew, manipulating him as an instrument of war against the peaceful people of O&#8217;ahu. This demonstrates that even without the threat of European colonization, the capacity for both evil and good exists within all cultures and peoples. The primary difference lies in scale — violence, war, and betrayal among a small group of islands operates by the same moral principles as similar actions across an entire continent.
This pattern of moral complexity extends particularly to American slavery. Few Americans are aware that without direct African involvement, there would have been no trans-Atlantic slave trade. Professor and historian Henry Louis Gates Jr. notes in a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/23/opinion/23gates.html">New York Times opinion</a> article that colonial conquests of Africa&#8217;s interior didn&#8217;t occur until the late 1800s. For centuries prior, European explorers remained close to coastal forts, depending entirely on Africans to sell those they had enslaved to European traders who would transport these slaves to the New World — accounting for 90% of the slave trade. Gates poses the salient question we should all consider: why do Americans place blame solely at the feet of Europeans when their success was entirely dependent on the slave-trading kingdoms of western and central Africa?
Similarly, we should also examine the argument that pre-Columbian America was entirely populated by peaceful natives prior to European colonization. Historical evidence reveals this narrative is incomplete. While European arrival undeniably brought devastating new diseases, conflicts over land, and systematic violence as settlers expanded into the continent&#8217;s interior, warfare and conflict among tribes existed long before this period. Archaeological evidence confirms ongoing competition for resources and territorial disputes among various Native American tribes.
This analysis doesn&#8217;t suggest that Europeans were justified in their atrocities against other people groups. America&#8217;s history is written in blood, and there can be no denial of the utter brutality involved in its making. However, judging historical figures by contemporary moral standards is highly problematic. All humans are creatures of their time, and many of us descend from those who formed America, for good or ill. Thus, no one in the present day can reasonably (or should) claim how they would have responded to any given circumstance in the distant past.
We must recognize there is only one race — the human race — and only one condition — the human condition. &#8220;Chief of War&#8221; reminds us that moral complexity, the capacity for both violence and nobility, isn&#8217;t unique to any particular people — it is the universal burden and potential of being human. &#8220;Chief of War&#8221; ultimately challenges viewers to abandon the comfortable simplicity of America’s increasing echo chambers of tribal thought by embracing the difficult work of understanding humanity&#8217;s capacity for both cruelty and compassion across all cultures and eras.

Video games pose a very real threat to Hollywood’s box office hopes.
Modern games are more interactive and snazzier than their predecessors, digitally enslaving Gen Z in the process. “Netflix and Chill” doesn’t come close.
Studios surveyed the landscape and said, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” Or, in this case, leverage their IPs for serious coin.
“A Minecraft Movie” earned a <a href="https://variety.com/2025/film/box-office/minecraft-movie-box-office-success-blockbuster-1236361148/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">whopping $313 million</a> across the globe in its opening weekend, pumping life into 2025’s sad theatrical start.

The smash comes on the heels of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” series, the burgeoning “Five Nights at Freddy’s” franchise, 2023’s “Super Mario Bros.” animated reboot and 2022’s “Uncharted” with Tom Holland. Let’s not forget 2021’s “Free Guy” with Ryan Reynolds as a lovable NPC (non-player character). The latter wasn’t based on any one video game but sprang from a sensibility gamers understood.
We’ve come a long way from wobbly video game adaptations like “Super Mario Bros.” (1993), “Max Payne” (2008) and “Alone in the Dark” (2005).
What changed? Studios started taking the source material seriously, expending big budgets to recreate the look and feel of the games in question. It helps that CGI advancements make it all possible, visually speaking. The sight of John Leguizamo and Bob Hoskins fleeing rubbery dinosaurs in 1993’s “Super Mario Bros.” still makes us wince.
Studios have hired A-listers like Jack Black, Jim Carrey, Mark Wahlberg and Chris Pratt to bring video games to stunning life.
They also didn’t make them woke or forget the core audience in question – boys and young men. Disney spent years transforming the “Star Wars” saga into a feminist-friendly franchise with shows like “The Acolyte.”
How did that work out again?

It’s notable that “A Minecraft Movie” features two key female characters and gives them little to do. The film’s creative team checked those Identity Politics boxes but neglected to give the stars any sense of agency.
Still, the film’s cast and crew didn’t leave longtime fans behind. The new video game movies efficiently work elements of the games into the on-screen adventures. Those blocky swords in “A Minecraft Movie” are just one of many familiar sights for hardcore fans.
That, plus a wave of “easter eggs” make gamers feel seen. And they’re telling their friends all about it.
Black’s performance in “Minecraft” shouldn’t be overlooked. He’s like the Energizer Bunny on screen, but with even more energy. He also promoted the film without going full or even the semi-Zegler. He praised the feature as a fun, upbeat adventure that could heal a <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/jason-momoa-jack-black-minecraft-movie-jennifer-coolidge-1236175713/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fractured nation</a>.
<blockquote>We’ve got to work together, my God. There’s so much violence and war and hatred. And that’s what I love about this movie — there’s a lot of love in it and there’s a lot of creativity. There is some anger and violence too, but in the end it’s about friendship and working together to make [the world] a better place.</blockquote>
Black has been a vocal Obama supporter in the past, even shooting a video to support the Democrat’s Iran policies – which haven’t aged well, to say the least.
He hasn’t been as loud about the political scene in recent years. He even <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blindsided-jack-black-axes-tour-after-bandmate-cheers-trump-assassination-attempt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">temporarily shelved his Tenacious D band</a> when fellow rocker Kyle Gass wished for President Donald Trump’s assassination on stage.

Carrey similarly <a href="https://news.artnet.com/art-world/art-industry-news-february-23-2021-1945969" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stopped his barrage of hard-Left, anti-GOP paintings</a> in recent years. Meanwhile, Reynolds and Pratt are known for their upbeat, mostly apolitical personas.
Not every recent video game movie snagged “Minecraft”-sized numbers. Last year’s “Borderlands” debacle got ignored by gamers and torched by film critics.
The smart 2023 drama “Grand Turismo” offered a novel way to bring the driving game to the big screen, but audiences didn’t bite in “Minecraft”-sized numbers ($44 million US).
Still, the recent hits have given Hollywood exactly what it needs – young movie goers eager to share their thoughts on social media. “A Minecraft Movie” became a meme sensation in real time, with users producing “Chicken Jockey” gags on TikTok and elsewhere.
If you have to ask, you either never played the game or don’t have children under the age of 16.
Those memes made “Minecraft” an “event,” much like the 2023 “Barbie” movie. Women gathered their friends together to see the film wearing their best, “Barbie”-like outfits.
Now, teens are devouring “Minecraft” movie memes and celebrating them in theaters en masse. That’s exactly what studios love to see, even if some young fans are getting <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/teen-boys-trashing-theaters-causing-mayhem-at-a-minecraft-movie-showings?author=Amanda+Harding&amp;category=Entertainment&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=Teen+Boys+Trashing+Theaters%2C+Causing+Mayhem+At+%E2%80%98A+Minecraft+Movie%E2%80%99+Showings">carried away with their exuberance</a>. Those viral clips, ironically, will only build on the film’s popularity.

There’s another factor here, one that plugs in seamlessly to the “Minecraft” ethos. Many modern video games offer a canvas for inspired young minds. “Fortnite,” for example, allows gamers to choose from any number of “skins” and weapons. Players can team with friends across the street – or the globe – to create their own adventures.
They’re not just part of the action, they’re making the games up as they go. “Minecraft” might be the ultimate example of that ethos. The pixel-friendly game demands creativity from start to finish.
Movies aren’t interactive, at least for now. Films like “A Minecraft Movie” tap into that sense of self-directed adventure, the kind that makes video game adaptations into blockbuster hits.
The only downside for Hollywood? Studios will learn the wrong lessons from “A Minecraft Movie” and we’ll suffer through a few more “Borderlands” in the coming years.

The &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-biggest-box-office-bombs-of-2023">Aquaman</a>&#8220; sequel continues to struggle as Warner Bros. &#8220;Wonka&#8221; has not only dominated the Christmas box office, but now the New Year weekend as well.
&#8220;Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom&#8221; has earned, as of New Year&#8217;s Day, $81.8 million. The original 2018 film made $215.4 million over the same time period as it was on its way to $1.2 billion at the global box office, <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/wonka-box-office-aquaman-new-years-1235776921/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The </a>Hollywood Reporter noted.
The Jason Momoa-led film has had a poor showing at the box office following its release on December 22, coming in way under expectations after earning $27 million over the Christmas weekend and another $23.5 million over the four-day New Year weekend.
The DC superhero sequel and final movie from DC&#8217;s Extended Universe appears to be doing slightly better overseas where the James Wan movie has earned $173.6 million as of Monday, according to <a href="https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt9663764/?ref_=bo_se_r_2">Box Office Mojo</a>.

However, the clear winner over both holiday weekends has been the Timothée Chalamet-led backstory of the famed fictional chocolatier Willy Wonka. It is the latest remake based on the 1964 novel &#8220;Charlie and the Chocolate Factory&#8221; by Roald Dahl. The original novel&#8217;s first film adaptation was 1971&#8217;s &#8220;Willy Wonka &amp; the Chocolate Factory,&#8221; starring Gene Wilder as Wonka. A 2005 remake directed by Tim Burton starred Johnny Depp as Wonka.

After the long Christmas weekend, &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wonka-winning-at-the-holiday-box-office">Wonka</a>&#8220; brought in $102.5 million domestically, <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/news/wonka-box-office-timothee-chalamet-100-million-migration-1235851894/">Variety</a> reported following its release in mid-December. The movie brought in another $29.5 million at the domestic box office after New Year&#8217;s day, bringing the film&#8217;s total to $140.2 million as of Monday, THR noted.
Warner Bros. also released another film over the holiday, the Broadway musical adaptation of Alice Walker&#8217;s novel &#8220;The Color Purple.&#8221; The film has had less time than the rest after it opened December 25 with $18.5 million. After the New Year holiday weekend, the movie&#8217;s current domestic total now stands at $47.2 million domestically.
Despite the millions earned at the box office, the numbers for the top movies in the country pale in comparison to the last few years, <a href="https://deadline.com/2023/12/box-office-post-christmas-wonka-aquaman-2-color-purple-1235682346/">Deadline magazine</a> noted.
In 2021, Marvel&#8217;s &#8220;Spider-Man: No Way Home,&#8221; and &#8220;Avatar: The Way of the Water&#8221; in 2022 both cleared $30 million in a single day after Christmas.

The &#8220;Aquaman&#8221; sequel opens on Friday, December 22. It is currently estimated to bring in $37 million to $43 million at the domestic box office over the four-day Christmas weekend, according to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/aquaman-2-box-office-christmas-1235767054/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>. In comparison, the box office bomb that was the female-led sequel to &#8220;Captain Marvel&#8221; debuted to a $46.1 million opening weekend in November.
The Jason Momoa-led sequel from DC and Warner Bros. has a storyline that focuses on  Aquaman balancing his &#8220;duties as king and as a member of the Justice League, all while planning a wedding,&#8221; a <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9663764/">description</a> of the film read. &#8220;Black Manta is on the hunt for Atlantean tech to help rebuild his armor. Orm plots to escape his Atlantean prison.&#8221;

If estimates are correct, the upcoming sequel will not only do worse than Marvel&#8217;s latest movie but also generate less than the original &#8220;Aquaman&#8221; did in 2018 when it scored $105.4 million over the four-day Christmas holiday weekend, the outlet noted.

The superhero movie starred troubled actor<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-flash-fizzles-at-box-office-despite-being-called-one-of-the-greatest-superhero-movies-ever-made"> Ezra Miller</a>, which some say could&#8217;ve led to the movie&#8217;s dismal numbers. Warner Bros. had a challenging time promoting the film due to controversies involving Miller in the months leading up to the release after he faced multiple accusations of criminal activity. The studio partially relied on word of mouth to publicize &#8220;The Flash&#8221; and the then-inherent popularity of the superhero genre.

His post included images of the devastation left by the fire that destroyed the historic Lahaina Town, with a message from the nonprofit, which is raising money for the Hawaii Community Foundation Maui County Strong Fund, according to the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/jason-momoa-devastated-heartbroken-maui-wildfires-1235561348/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hollywood Reporter</a>.
&#8220;Lahaina town is gone,&#8221; the message read. &#8220;Families were forced to evacuate on short notice, many escaping with only the clothes on their backs.&#8221;
The post included a link to the Hawaii Community Foundation&#8217;s website, where people can support disaster relief on the island.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">actor</a> held up two long pieces of cut braided hair while getting the rest shorn down to the scalp.  
“Shavin&#8217; off the hair … doing it for …” he said, before pointing to his shaved head and exclaiming, “I&#8217;ve never even felt the wind right there!”
“Doing it for single-use plastics,” Momoa explained. “I&#8217;m tired of using plastic bottles, we gotta stop, plastic forks, all that s***, goes into our land, goes into our ocean.”
“I&#8217;m here in Hawaii right now, and just seeing things in our ocean, it&#8217;s just so sad,” he continued. “Please, anything you can do to eliminate single-use plastics in your lives. Help me, plastic bottles are ridiculous … we&#8217;re going to keep going — oh, man. Love you guys. Aloha,” the “Dune” star concluded.
The video caption further implored social media followers to “be better at protecting our land and oceans” by eliminating single-use plastics from our lives. He railed against “plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, utensils — all of it.”
This isn’t the first time Momoa has taken a stand against plastic. In August, he made waves by distributing aluminum bottles of purified water on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Hawaii. He did so to celebrate the airline partnering with his water company, Mananalu, People <a href="https://people.com/movies/jason-momoa-shaves-head-to-highlight-issue-of-single-use-plastic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. 
The actor said the idea for the water company came to him while he was on a flight. 
“It&#8217;s a dream come true &#8230; why can&#8217;t we have aluminum?&#8221; the Hawaii native said. “There&#8217;s sparkling water, there&#8217;s sparkling beer, there&#8217;s soda, soft drinks. Why do I have to have this little single tiny water? So this is my first time being able to do this. So I&#8217;m going to make the announcement on Hawaiian Airlines &#8230; I&#8217;m excited I&#8217;m going home.”

Actor Jason Momoa was involved in a head-on collision over the weekend with a motorcyclist in California outside of Los Angeles, local law enforcement officials said.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that the motorcyclist was &#8220;riding his motorcycle westbound on Old Topanga Road, when his motorcycle crossed over the double yellow lines into the eastbound lanes, directly into the path of Jason Momoa&#8217;s vehicle.&#8221;
The motorcyclist &#8220;collided with the left front of&#8221; Momoa&#8217;s vehicle, a 1970 Oldsmobile, which resulted in the motorcyclist being thrown off the motorcycle.
After the collision, Momoa reportedly got out of his car, assisted the motorcyclist, and flagged down passing motorists to call for help.
Video obtained by TMZ showed first responders at the scene of the accident tending to the motorcyclist as Momoa walked back toward his car.

CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/25/entertainment/jason-momoa-crash/index.html">reported</a> that the motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which were not expected to be life-threatening.
Momoa, best known for starring as the title superhero in the 2018 movie &#8220;Aquaman,&#8221; was not injured.
The Momoa story comes amid a flurry of entertainment news from the past 24 hours, including the death of British actor David Warner and TBS canceling Samantha Bee&#8217;s &#8220;Full Frontal.&#8221;
Warner, who was known for his roles in “Titanic,” “The Omen,” and “TRON,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/british-actor-david-warner-known-for-roles-in-titanic-and-the-omen-dead-at-80">died</a> over the weekend from a cancer-related illness at a residential home in London.
“Over the past 18 months he approached his diagnosis with a characteristic grace and dignity,” his family said in a statement. “He will be missed hugely by us, his family and friends, and remembered as a kind-hearted, generous and compassionate man, partner and father whose legacy of extraordinary work has touched the lives of so many over the years. We are heartbroken.”
TBS <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tbs-cancels-samantha-bees-full-frontal-in-latest-collapse-for-late-night-shows">announced</a> that it canceled &#8220;Full Frontal&#8221; after seven seasons because the network wanted to go in a different direction.
“As we continue to shape our new programming strategy, we’ve made some difficult, business-based decisions,” TBS said in a statement. “We are proud to have been the home to ‘Full Frontal With Samantha Bee’ and thank Sam, and the rest of the Emmy-nominated team for their groundbreaking work. After Johnny Depp won big in his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard, some A-list celebrities showed support for the actor, including model Bella Hadid, actress Jennifer Aniston, and Heard&#8217;s &#8220;Aquaman&#8221; co-star Jason Momoa.
The jury found that Heard defamed Depp in an op-ed about domestic violence published in The Washington Post in 2018, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jury-awards-johnny-depp-15-million-but-hell-get-millions-less-heres-why">awarding the actor $15 million</a>. Heard was awarded $2 million over statements Depp lawyer Adam Waldman wrote about the actress allegedly intentionally messing up her apartment to stage a hoax against Depp.
A <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/jason-momoa-jennifer-aniston-and-the-celebs-who-liked-the-johnny-depp-amber-heard-verdict">report</a> from The Daily Beast confirmed that Hadid, Aniston, Zoe Saldana, Emma Roberts, Gemma Chan, Taika Waititi, Henry Golding, Joey King, and Riley Keough all &#8220;liked&#8221; an Instagram post from Depp about winning in the case and getting his &#8220;life back.&#8221;
Interestingly, while Momoa &#8220;liked&#8221; Depp&#8217;s post, he also liked Heard&#8217;s post complaining about the verdict.
The report noted that other celebrities, including Florence Pugh and Dakota and Elle Fanning, added a heart emoji to a post from Greg Williams Photography, which featured a portrait of Depp and the hashtag &#8220;#youcantkeepagoodmandown.&#8221;
&#8220;Naomi Campbell, Pretty Little Liars alum Ashley Benson, and the DJ Zedd all responded to Depp’s post with heart emojis, as did Ryan Adams, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by a number of women, including Phoebe Bridgers and Mandy Moore,&#8221; the report added.
Depp&#8217;s Instagram post said he was &#8220;humbled&#8221; by the verdict and slammed the media for peddling false claims about him.
&#8220;Six years later, the jury gave me my life back,&#8221; the &#8220;Pirates of the Caribbean&#8221; actor wrote. &#8220;I am truly humbled.&#8221;
Depp went on to say his life was turned upside-down when Heard launched her accusations against him, fingering the media for perpetuating the lies.
&#8220;False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career.&#8221;
Depp added that he pursued the case in the first place to &#8220;reveal the truth.&#8221;
During the six-week trial, Heard detailed serious allegations of abuse at the hands of Depp, saying he penetrated her with a possibly broken Maker&#8217;s Mark bottle.
Depp and his legal team denied all allegations and told the jury that Heard perpetrated a #MeToo hoax to take from Depp, and also to punish him for leaving her.

A Warner Bros. executive testified by video deposition on Tuesday that &#8220;Aquaman&#8221; star Jason Momoa talked to him about &#8220;chemistry issues&#8221; with Amber Heard, who played Momoa&#8217;s love interest in the film.
Ex-husband Johnny Depp is suing Heard for $50 million over an op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post about domestic violence, which Depp claims significantly hurt his Hollywood career. Heard has countersued for $100 million.
&#8220;Did you speak to Jason Momoa about chemistry issues between he and Amber Heard?&#8221; Heard lawyer Elaine Bredehoft asked Walter Hamada, President of DC-based film at Warner Bros.
&#8220;Yes,&#8221; Hamada replied.
Bredehoft did not follow up to ask Hamada about what specifically was said, but the executive detailed concerns from the producer about the duo&#8217;s lack of chemistry.
Continuing, Hamada explained that &#8220;magic&#8221; had to be done in post-production of the movie to help boost the onscreen chemistry between the two actors, including adjusting the movie&#8217;s score and picking the right combination of takes to use.
When Bredehoft suggested this was all commonplace, Hamada agreed, but emphasized that &#8220;a lot of effort&#8221; had to be done post-production, adding, &#8220;the chemistry wasn&#8217;t there.&#8221;
Heard&#8217;s legal team has argued that their client was not boosted in the film&#8217;s sequel due to statements from attorney Adam Waldman.
During the same deposition, Hamada contradicted statements from Heard about being &#8220;released&#8221; from her &#8220;Aquaman&#8221; contract.
The executive said Heard was never released from her contract, but that Warner Bros. exercised their &#8220;option,&#8221; as the contract outlined. He also noted &#8220;Aquaman 2&#8221; was pitched early on as a &#8220;buddy comedy&#8221; between Momoa and actor Patrick Wilson.
Heard testified this month that she was let go from her &#8220;Aquaman&#8221; contract and had to “fight” to stay in the film, which is still an uncertainty.
“They released me from my contract,” the actress told Depp attorney Camille Vasquez. “And I fought to stay in it, and they kept me in it. I just don’t know how much I’m in, actually, of the final cut.”
“I don’t know if I will even be in the final cut or how much I will be,” the 36-year-old added. “It was difficult to stay in the movie.”
Kathryn Arnold, an entertainment expert witness for Heard, <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/05/23/johnny-depp-amber-heard-live-trial-coverage/">argued</a> on the stand Monday that Heard and Momoa had great chemistry in the &#8220;Aquaman,&#8221; and if not for claims from Waldman, Heard would have earned around $50 million over the next five years.
Notably, Arnold said Heard&#8217;s career is comparable to Momoa, Gal Gadot, and Zendaya, among others.

Warner Bros. Exec Says He Spoke To Jason Momoa About Chemistry Issues With Amber Heard On Set Of Aquaman 

It’s not too shocking when anyone gets divorced in Hollywood, but there are some couples that seem destined to stay together. Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet were one of those couples. That’s why their recent announcement of a split came as such a surprise to so many of their fans.
The couple’s statement on their divorce <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CYprLX4pTdW/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=eb54297b-9d99-4b4b-ba68-00850ab127df">read</a>: “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding – and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so, we share our family news, that we are parting ways in marriage.”
The statement continued, &#8220;We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy, But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty. The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived.&#8221;
&#8220;We free each other ~to be who we are learning to become…Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life &amp; our Children.&#8221;
Momoa, 42, and Bonet, 54, began dating in 2005 and wed in secret in 2017. The couple shares two children – daughter Lola and son Nakoa-Wolf – together. Bonet also has another daughter Zoë Kravitz, whom she shares with ex-husband musician Lenny Kravitz. 
Part of the reason some fans believed Momoa and Bonet would last forever is the background of their love story. Momoa admitted he fell in love with his future wife when he saw her on “The Cosby Show.” Much later, they ran into each other at a jazz club and were instantly smitten.
“Listen it was more than [love at first sight],” Momoa <a href="https://ktvz.com/entertainment/cnn-entertainment/2022/01/12/jason-momoa-and-lisa-bonet-announce-split/">said</a> when he was asked about his relationship with Bonet during an appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”
“Ever since I was 8 years old and I saw her on the TV I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one.’” 
He continued, “I was like, ‘I’m going to stalk you for the rest of my life, and I’m going to get you.’ I’m a full-fledged stalker. But yeah, I’ve just always wanted to meet her. She was a queen, always.”
When they finally met through mutual friends at a jazz club, he shared his reaction when finally meeting Bonet officially. “I turned around to my friend and I was like ‘ahhh!’ I had f***ing fireworks going off inside, man,” Momoa said.
Momoa once told Men’s Health, “I met her over a pint of Guinness. She ordered it. I thought ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I’m with a woman who ordered a Guinness. I love her.’ When I got to know her, she was the woman of my dreams.”
And Momoa didn’t shy away from over-the-top romantic gestures to make his true feelings known. The “Aquaman” star paid to have Bonet’s 1965 Mustang painstakingly restored and documented the whole process on YouTube in 2020.
The actor wrote in a short Instagram <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CDek6EcD_SR/">clip</a>, “Aloha everyone, this is 14 years in the making. I wanted to surprise my wife with her first car she ever bought and bring it back to life and into our family.”
Previously, Momoa bought Bonet a donkey just because she wanted one. 
“I live up in Topanga, on five acres,” he told <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/19/arts/jason-momoa-braves-new-frontiers.html">The New York Times</a> in 2017. “I go hiking a lot. I’ve got kids, goats. My wife always wanted a donkey, so I bought her one. We walk our donkey, and we’ve got two [dogs] who are half Malamute, half wolf.”
A long infatuation and a few big romantic gestures weren’t enough to save Bonet and Momoa’s marriage, however. The couple says they are committed to raising their children together, but will no longer be continuing their relationship.

Actor Jason Momoa has further doubled-down on his call for an investigation into director Joss Whedon&#8217;s behavior while on the set of &#8220;Justice League.&#8221;
Joss Whedon was brought on to oversee reshoots and post-production for “Justice League” after a personal tragedy forced director Zack Snyder to temporarily exit the project. In July of this year, actor Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg in the tentpole feature, publicly accused Whedon of “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable&#8221; behavior while on set.
“Joss Wheadon’s on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. He was enabled, in many ways, by Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. Accountability&gt;Entertainment,” Fisher <a href="https://twitter.com/ray8fisher/status/1278362556214755329?s=20">tweeted</a> in early July.
“During the LA reshoots for Justice League, Geoff Johns summoned me to his office to belittle and admonish my (and my agent’s) attempts to take grievances up the proper chain of command. He then made a thinly veiled threat to my career. This behavior cannot continue,” he then <a href="https://twitter.com/ray8fisher/status/1293652833615708172?s=20">tweeted</a> in August.
In late August, WarnerMedia launched an investigation into Fisher’s claims against Whedon, Johns, and Berg. After a month of silence, Jason Momoa publicly supported the investigation by posting the hashtag #IStandWithRayFisher on his Instagram daily stories. One week later, Jason Momoa doubled-down on his stance with a fiery Instagram post.

In September, Fisher publicly escalated the fight when he tweeted that Warner Bros. tried to make a deal with him to save Geoff Johns.
“So you can better understand how deep this goes: After speaking out about Justice League, I received a phone call from the President of DC Films wherein he attempted to throw Joss Whedon and Jon Berg under the bus in hopes that I would relent on Geoff Johns. I will not. A&gt;E,” the actor tweeted.
Warner Bros. then issued a lengthy response to Fisher’s tweet, saying that the company has reached out to the actor multiple times in order to have him speak with a “third party investigator” — a request that Fisher allegedly declined on more than one occasion.
“While Mr. Fisher never alleged any actionable misconduct against him, WarnerMedia nonetheless initiated an investigation into the concerns he’d raised about his character’s portrayal. Still not satisfied, Mr. Fisher insisted that WarnerMedia hire an independent third-party investigator,” a representative for the company said.
“This investigator has attempted multiple times to meet with Mr. Fisher to discuss his concerns but, to date, Mr. Fisher has declined to speak to the investigator,” the rep continued. “Warner Bros. remains committed to accountability and to the well-being of every cast and crew member on each of its productions. It also remains committed to investigating any specific and credible allegation of misconduct, which thus far Mr. Fisher has failed to provide.”
Fisher immediately shot back, saying that he met with the investigator during a Zoom call on Aug. 26 and cut the meeting off early so that he could discuss it with his legal team.
“He tried to keep me on the line, but I told him I would need to consult my team before proceeding,” said Fisher.

Over two months after &#8220;Justice League&#8221; actor Ray Fisher publicly accused director Joss Whedon of inappropriate behavior during the film&#8217;s reshoots, actor Jason Momoa (&#8220;Aquaman&#8221;) has supported WarnerMedia&#8217;s investigation into the allegations.
