Former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> said on Sunday that former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and other members of the now-defunct <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6-committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 6 Committee</a> should be jailed.
A House GOP report released last week said Trump&#8217;s driver on January 6, 2021, &#8220;refuted&#8221; a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/testimony-of-cassidy-hutchinson-appears-to-fall-apart-as-new-reports-surface-about-secret-service" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claim</a> relayed by former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson that Trump attempted to grab the steering wheel to redirect the SUV to the U.S. Capitol following his speech, and lunged at his head of security.
Just the News CEO and Editor in Chief John Solomon highlighted on Trump&#8217;s Truth Social platform the particular finding that Cheney, who served as vice chairwoman of the January 6 Committee, <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@jsolomonreports/posts/112079019142185501" target="_blank" rel="noopener">personally took part</a> in an interview with the driver and did not include that denial in the panel&#8217;s final report.
&#8220;She should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!&#8221; Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/112111518330244944" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exclaimed</a> in a post to Truth Social. He went on to share links to several articles concerning the revelations from the House Administration&#8217;s Subcommittee on Oversight, led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA).
Cheney, who has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/liz-cheney-suggests-she-may-enter-2024-presidential-race" target="_blank" rel="noopener">indicated</a> in recent months that she is open to entering the 2024 presidential race to ensure Trump does not win the contest, responded to Trump on X with a screenshot of his post to Truth Social and references to the 2020 election interference cases he faces.

Trump is facing four criminal cases, including two focused on the January 6 Capitol breach and the 2020 election, as well as civil litigation. He has broadly denied any wrongdoing and argued that politically motivated prosecutors are conducting a “witch hunt” against him.
Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who served as chairman of the January 6 Committee, also pushed back on the findings in the House GOP&#8217;s report.
&#8220;The Select Committee&#8217;s final report took into account the testimony of all witnesses,&#8221; he said in a <a href="https://twitter.com/BennieGThompson/status/1767300191843983406" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>, adding the claim that all the evidence points to &#8220;the same conclusion: Donald Trump wanted to join his violent mob as it marched on the Capitol, and he was irate when his security detail told him he couldn&#8217;t go.&#8221;

Former Trump White House aide <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/peter-navarro" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Peter Navarro</a> on Monday was ordered to report to federal prison next week for the four-month-long sentence he was given after he did not show up for a deposition with the January 6 Committee in February 2022.
District Judge Amit Mehta told Navarro, who was convicted last year by a D.C. jury on two counts of contempt of Congress, to report to a prison in Miami on March 19. Navarro had hoped to avoid prison time while his case went through the appeals process. 
The 74-year-old former Trump economic advisor was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-advisor-will-spend-4-months-in-prison-for-doing-exactly-what-hunter-biden-did" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sentenced</a> and ordered to pay a fine of $9,500  in January after his conviction in September 2023. Navarro has maintained that he did nothing wrong and was not obligated to meet with lawmakers on the January 6 Committee, which was disbanded after Republicans took control of the House in January 2023. 
“Dr. Navarro has now been ordered to report to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons, FCI Miami, on or before 2:00PM EDT on March 19, 2024,” Navarro’s lawyer <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/03/11/peter-navarro-prison-march-19-00146225" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a filing on Sunday. “Accordingly, Dr. Navarro respectfully reiterates his request for an administrative stay … Should this Court deny Dr. Navarro’s motion, he respectfully requests an administrative stay so as to permit the Supreme Court review of this Court’s denial.”
Throughout the process, Navarro has maintained that executive privilege should shield him from being forced to meet with the January 6 Committee. His arguments have so far been rejected, with Mehta not allowing him to use executive privilege as his defense during trial. 
“For the first time in history, a senior presidential advisor has been convicted of contempt of Congress after asserting executive privilege over a congressional subpoena,” Navarro&#8217;s lawyer <a href="https://www.theepochtimes.com/us/peter-navarro-ordered-to-report-to-miami-prison-on-march-19-post-5605026?ea_src=frontpage&amp;ea_med=lead-special-courts-medium-0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “Dr. Navarro has appealed and will raise a number of issues on appeal that he contends are likely to result in the reversal of his conviction, or a new trial.”
The Department of Justice charged Navarro after Congress voted to hold him in contempt after they subpoenaed him to meet with House lawmakers and produce certain documents that they had requested.

The House also previously voted, mostly along party lines, to recommend other Trump aides &#8211; including Steve Bannon, Dan Scavino, and Mark Meadows – to the Justice Department for contempt of Congress charges. Bannon, who was also convicted of contempt of Congress charges, was sentenced to four months in prison but has yet to serve any time as his case goes through the appeals process.
After he was indicted, Navarro <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trying-to-intimidate-me-peter-navarro-rips-january-6-committee-doj-after-indictment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that the January 6 Committee was trying to intimidate him.
“Congress has weaponized the investigatory powers of congress in a way which is unconstitutional,” Navarro said in June 2022 after a court hearing on the indictment. “The people of America need to understand, Congress has the right to investigate, but only for non-punitive, legislative purposes. What that committee is doing is investigating for punitive purposes.”
“They intercepted me getting on the plane and they put me in handcuffs, they bring me here, they put me in leg irons, they stick me in a cell,” he said. “They just came with the full force of the federal government and put the hammer down trying to intimidate me.”

A key advisor to former President Donald Trump was sentenced Thursday to serve four months in prison for doing exactly what President Joe Biden&#8217;s son Hunter did just a few weeks ago.
Peter Navarro, who advised Trump on matters of trade and manufacturing, was subpoenaed to appear before the January 6th Committee for a deposition in March of 2022 and was ordered to provide documents to the committee one month prior — neither of which he did.
The Justice Department charged Navarro as a private citizen several months later, on June 2, 2022.
In addition to his <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-white-house-official-peter-navarro-learns-sentenced-months-defying-jan-6-subpoena" target="_blank" rel="noopener">four-month sentence</a>, Navarro was ordered to pay a fine of $9,500 — reduced by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta from the six months and $200,000 the Justice Department had requested. As the DOJ noted in the request, every individual count of contempt of Congress can carry 30 days to one year in jail, and a fine of up to $100,000.

A similar situation — absent the Justice Department taking action — has played out with President Biden&#8217;s embattled son in recent weeks.
Hunter Biden <a href="https://apnews.com/article/hunter-biden-congress-investigation-impeachment-0226bb1041d7b5c10bc8c33e5d98b5e0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defied a subpoena</a> to appear before the House Oversight Committee for a closed-door deposition. Instead, the younger Biden claimed repeatedly that he would testify publicly and even staged a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-biden-shows-up-to-capitol-defies-subpoena-for-house-deposition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press conference</a> on the opposite side of the Capitol from where he had been ordered to appear.

A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/u-s-house-of-representatives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House</a> panel has recovered more than 100 &#8220;deleted&#8221; and encrypted files from the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6-committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 6 Committee</a>, a GOP investigator announced on Monday.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), chairman of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, affirmed the retrieval as part of a counter-inquiry into the January 6 Committee that <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/jan-6-panel-shutting-down-after-concluding-18-month-investigation#:~:text=WASHINGTON%20(AP)%20%E2%80%94%20The%20House,prosecuting%20former%20President%20Donald%20Trump." target="_blank" rel="noopener">shut down</a> at the beginning of 2023.
&#8220;The former J6 Select Committee went to great lengths to prevent Americans from seeing all the evidence produced in their investigation,&#8221; Loudermilk <a href="https://twitter.com/RepLoudermilk/status/1749487685972971608" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a post to X. &#8220;Our Subcommittee has recovered over 100 deleted &amp; encrypted files. What else were they trying to hide?&#8221;
Loudermilk was responding to a Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/house-committee-jan-6-deleted-encrypted-117-files-was-required-share-house-gop-sources" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> that said he wrote to Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who chaired the January 6 Committee, demanding a list of passwords that would allow his forensic team to gain access to the locked files. Thompson replied with a letter that <a href="https://twitter.com/BennieGThompson/status/1749912931913933006" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed he had &#8220;no idea&#8221;</a> what Loudermilk was talking about when it came to encrypted, password-protected files.
The pair have traded a number of letters over the past year in which Loudermilk <a href="https://static.foxnews.com/foxnews.com/content/uploads/2023/08/Loudermilk-Letter-to-Thompson-6.26.23.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> concerns about the January 6 Committee not properly archiving video recordings of interviews and depositions in the House as well as transcripts mentioned in a letter to the Homeland Security Department that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/january-6-panel-alerts-white-house-about-anonymous-witnesses" target="_blank" rel="noopener">referenced</a> &#8220;important information&#8221; gained &#8220;from an unnamed Secret Service witness.&#8221;
Thompson has <a href="https://static.foxnews.com/foxnews.com/content/uploads/2023/08/Thompson-letter-to-Loudermilk-7.7.23.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">insisted</a> the January 6 Committee was &#8220;was not obligated&#8221; to archive all video recordings of transcribed interviews or depositions, but he conceded the panel &#8220;did not have the opportunity to properly archive&#8221; certain sensitive materials because it was dissolved before the completion of an executive branch review of information that could be damaging to witnesses if released.
In his newest letter, Loudermilk said one of the recovered files &#8220;disclosed the identity of an individual whose testimony was not archived by the Select Committee.&#8221; He added that the &#8220;hard drives archived by the Select Committee with the Clerk of the House contain less than 3- terabytes of data,&#8221; suggesting some data may be missing as Thompson had touted a 4-terabyte digital archive.
Loudermilk also wrote to the White House and DHS general counsels seeking &#8220;unedited and unredacted transcripts&#8221; of testimony given to the January 6 Committee by the White House and DHS, per Fox News. He set a January 24 deadline for those requests.

Whatever information may be in the protected files remains a mystery, though the <a href="https://twitter.com/KerryPicket/status/1749810781540245782" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington Times noted</a> that Loudermilk said the missing documents include information shared with the Department of Justice and Fulton County District Attorney. Former President Donald Trump, who is being prosecuted in January 6-related cases, said the records <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/111800280605939981" target="_blank" rel="noopener">would have &#8220;exonerated&#8221;</a> him.
The January 6 Committee was bipartisan, with then-Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) as members, but many Republicans have criticized the endeavor. Loudermilk himself accused the panel of spreading false allegations about him giving a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/target-of-reconnaissance-tour-story-fires-back-at-january-6-committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;reconnaissance tour&#8221;</a> a day before the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6, 2021. Now, there are obstruction claims.

To <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/podcasts/morning-wire/justice-and-january-6th-family-members-speak-out-saturday-extra" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mark the third anniversary</a> of the U.S. Capitol riot, The Daily Wire spoke with Micki Witthoeft, the mother of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ashli-babbitt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ashli Babbitt</a>, an Air Force veteran who was fatally shot in the halls of Congress that day, as Witthoeft participated in a nightly vigil last week outside the Washington, D.C. jail where many <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 6</a> defendants are being held. The interview, as published below, has been lightly edited for length and clarity and contains some notes in brackets with further information.
DW: Why are you here this evening?
Witthoeft: I&#8217;m here because the government murdered my daughter three years ago. I think she deserves an investigation into her death. And I think the men inside deserve fair and accurate sentences and not the overreach we’re seeing. 
DW: So it&#8217;s not just one person. It&#8217;s about everybody who&#8217;s been incarcerated?
Witthoeft: It is about the unfair treatment and the violation of people&#8217;s constitutional rights. I very much think Ashli&#8217;s rights were violated. She served this country four times in the Middle East, she was deployed four times to come home and go to a &#8220;Stop the Steal&#8221; rally and to come home in a box is completely unacceptable. And then to have your government throw you away like you&#8217;re a disposable human — completely unacceptable.
DW: How many nights have you been here at the vigil outside the D.C. jail?
Witthoeft: Probably about 520 now.
DW: How aware do you think the guys on the inside are of what you&#8217;re doing out here? And do you think that the demonstrations that you&#8217;re doing every night, and speaking with them, of course, gives them hope? Or how does it make them feel?
Witthoeft: It gives them a voice to the outside. When we first got here, they didn&#8217;t have visitation, they were being horribly treated by some of the guards and their treatment has improved.  They do have visitation now. And some of these people on &#8220;Freedom Corner&#8221; [at the vigil] will be their visitors on Friday. Some of them have family that can&#8217;t make it all the way across the country, especially not every week. So, we go sit in a big room across from each other and fill up the visitation room. So I think that&#8217;s been a blessing. There&#8217;s a constant in and out of people here because they come here before they go to trial. And then they stay here until they&#8217;re sentenced, then they leave and then there&#8217;s a constant flow of people — because people continue to get arrested to this day behind the events of January 6.
While <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2023/03/29/us-attorneys-office-charges-declined-dc-police/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">67% of crimes</a> in this city go unprosecuted while they continue to hunt down &#8220;MAGA&#8221; meemaws and grandmas. They let everything else slide so they can continue to persecute January 6 detainees. … Speedy trial rights went out the window a long time ago. And you can see when you go into these courtrooms that the people are very much judged by the day on the calendar and not their behavior that day. Like I said, it&#8217;s excessive sentencing.
Some people in this movement think there should be blanket pardons and I don&#8217;t believe that. I believe everybody should be held accountable — and saying that everybody should be held accountable, I mean, [former House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi, I mean Michael Byrd [the Capitol Police officer who shot Babbitt], [Rep.] Adam Schiff, [Senate Majority Leader Chuck] Schumer all of them. And the American patriots that got out of control that day.

DW: What kind of reforms are you looking for moving forward? 
Witthoeft: Well, I think what has become clear to mainstream America, and shame on us for not realizing it sooner, but we have a lot of these guys — it&#8217;s their first bout with the law. Not all of them, but most of them. This is mainstream America you have behind the walls of this jail. So I think a lot of us have become aware of the need for prison reform in this country all around.

DW: You mentioned blanket pardons wouldn&#8217;t work.
Witthoeft: I don&#8217;t think so. I mean, there are some people in this movement that are for them. But I think it would deter a proper investigation into the events of that day. I think if you blanket pardoned people and then their problem goes away, there&#8217;ll be less people pushing forward to find out exactly what happened that day.
DW: It would be too easy an answer?
Witthoeft: Well, I think it would allow the government to just shelve it.
DW: Do you think, under the current administration, that might happen? Are you hoping that now that it&#8217;s an election year, whoever gets elected — because it is ultimately the Justice Department that&#8217;s in charge — do you hope that whoever comes in or if President Joe Biden himself [gets a second term], hears your message and institutes the kind of changing and looking for?
Witthoeft: Biden himself is never going to listen to my message. I think, not disrespectfully to Biden — although I don&#8217;t have any respect for Biden — but what I say is not out of disrespect, it&#8217;s out of what I see from him. I don&#8217;t think he&#8217;s competent to run this country. I think he&#8217;s very much addle-minded and in his senior decline. I mean, you know it&#8217;s just human fact that at a certain point, you&#8217;re at your peak and then you&#8217;re not anymore. And I think he&#8217;s very much not anymore. I don&#8217;t think he has the capacity for the intricate situations that arise in this country. I don&#8217;t think he&#8217;s a good leader at this point.
I go back to sitting in the courtrooms. And some of the judges say, “What an embarrassment January 6 was to this nation.” I don&#8217;t find it to be so. I think, you know, the end result was reprehensible. But I don&#8217;t think that that was the American citizens as much as it was our government and the assault under color of authority. My daughter&#8217;s murder — people are quick to say, “Well, she should have complied, she should have complied.” But she was not given an order to comply to. She didn&#8217;t see that man until he killed her, he was very much hiding. And, you know, Ashli was part of the security forces in the Air Force, well versed in the use of force continuum. And the first one would be to identify yourself — identify yourself as a police officer. Give a verbal command. He did none of those things. The Capitol Police operate with impunity. And I think that in any other police force in this country, Byrd&#8217;s conduct would have caused him to be fired, not promoted.

Byrd <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/officer-who-shot-ashli-babbitt-during-capitol-riot-breaks-silence-n1277736">claimed to NBC News</a> that pulling the trigger was a “last resort.” He insisted the “failure” of people to “comply required me to take the appropriate action to save the lives of members of Congress and myself and my fellow officers.” In August of last year, <a href="https://rollcall.com/2023/08/24/capitol-police-promotes-officers-who-got-jan-6-attack-spotlight/">CQ Roll Call reported</a> that Byrd was poised to be promoted to captain.]
DW: What do you think your daughter would say at this point in time, if she were here? 
Witthoeft: Well, she would be very upset at the state of this country as I think many Americans are. My daughter was brave and bold. And the reason I&#8217;m here is because I believe she would be here. So that&#8217;s my feeling that I believe she would be right here pushing for justice and the reinstatement of people&#8217;s Constitutional rights. And the thing about January 6 is, not only did they kill my child, but they took away my belief and some of the things I held true … about this country, like equitable justice and fairness, and, just some things you hold to be true and are not.
Because now, I now believe, without putting on a tinfoil hat, the corruption goes to the top. I absolutely do. And I believe we&#8217;re in the beginnings of a police state. When you have cameras watching your every move, when you have people tracking your phone, you have the Patriot Act, you have the 702 [<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-admin-asks-congress-to-reauthorize-fisa-surveillance-powers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Section 702</a> of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act]. Now, they need even less permission to infringe on American rights. I think that that&#8217;s a problem.
DW: What do you want to be done now? We&#8217;re almost three years to the day? What would you like to see?
Witthoeft: I think, you know, the release of some of the footage is going to be semi-helpful, but it&#8217;s also slow rolled and watered down and mediocre.
DW: Is that because they&#8217;re blurring the faces or there just isn&#8217;t enough of it? [As part of the<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-speaker-says-gop-lawmakers-blurred-out-faces-in-j6-tapes-to-prevent-retaliation" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> rolling disclosure by the GOP-led House</a>.]
Witthoeft: They&#8217;re just not releasing enough of it, quick enough. And I don&#8217;t think anybody&#8217;s face should be blurred out. I really don&#8217;t. I think if we&#8217;re gonna hold people accountable, let&#8217;s hold people accountable. And I think that you went in such an unprecedented event where you have so many people charged from the same day for a lot of the same crimes, to have the people that were charged be the ones saying, “Release the video, let&#8217;s see it, let&#8217;s see it,” which we have been doing for three years, and the government is the entity that doesn&#8217;t want it released. I think that should tell us all we need to know, as American citizens, that the government has something to hide. I think that&#8217;s pretty, pretty obvious.
DW: Is there anything else you&#8217;d like to see?
Witthoeft: I would like to see an investigation into the entire day. I want to know who did what &#8230; I think if we&#8217;re gonna hold our American people accountable, we need to hold everybody accountable.
DW: By what mechanism do you think that would need to be done? Because you&#8217;ve had the January 6 Committee. You&#8217;ve had some Republicans do their own counter-investigation.
Witthoeft: Well, that&#8217;s a good question and I wish I had those answers. You know, all I know to do is to continue pounding on doors. To continue contacting your local representatives. To show up to vote even if you don&#8217;t have full faith in the system, to not sit back and wait for Donald Trump to ride in and save the day because he&#8217;s one man. I think American citizens need to be their own heroes, speak up, stand up, say something, run for local offices, and seriously take the pride back in this country that it once used to have.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said on Tuesday that Republicans are blurring out the faces of individuals seen in the January 6 U.S. Capitol breach security camera footage — a move his office clarified would protect Americans from being identified by non-governmental investigators and private citizens.
&#8220;We have to blur some of the faces of persons who participated in the events of that day because we don&#8217;t want them to be retaliated against and to be charged by the DOJ and to have other, you know, concerns and problems,&#8221; Johnson told reporters during a <a href="https://www.c-span.org/video/?532220-1/house-republican-agenda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Republican Agenda</a> briefing.
Johnson <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/speaker-johnson-announces-public-release-of-january-6-footage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> last month that the GOP-led House would begin rolling out the disclosure of more than 40,000 hours of footage to a website, except a small portion that may contain sensitive security information or information that could lead to retaliation against private citizens.
The decision to release the footage, he <a href="https://www.speaker.gov/speaker-johnson-statement-on-january-6-2021-u-s-capitol-security-tapes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> at the time, would allow the American people, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media to witness for themselves what happened on that infamous day rather than relying upon &#8220;a small group of government officials.&#8221; His remarks come as <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2023/09/19/public-trust-in-government-1958-2023/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">public trust in the U.S. government</a> continues to sink to an all-time low.
&#8220;The release of the January 6 tapes is a critical, important exercise — we want transparency,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We trust — House Republicans trust — the American people to draw their own conclusions. They should not be dictated by some narrative and accept that as fact so they can review the tapes themselves.&#8221;
Although blurring out faces could prevent non-governmental investigators from using facial recognition software to help federal authorities track down those seen on the nation&#8217;s capital property, the Department of Justice accessed the footage almost immediately after the crowds were cleared.
&#8220;Faces are to be blurred from public viewing room footage to prevent all forms of retaliation against private citizens from any non-governmental actors,&#8221; Raj Shah, deputy chief of staff for communications in the Speaker&#8217;s office, told The Daily Wire in an emailed statement. &#8220;The Department of Justice already has access to raw footage from January 6, 2021.&#8221;
The footage has allowed prosecutors to bring roughly 1,200 criminal cases in connection to the breach.
The Daily Wire reached out to the Department of Justice for comment.
Some Republican lawmakers and others have long pressed for releasing security footage of the day when a crowd of people entered the U.S. Capitol, disrupting lawmakers&#8217; meeting to certify President Joe Biden&#8217;s 2020 election victory.
House Republicans, including Johnson, have long criticized the January 6 Committee, which investigated the national capitol&#8217;s breach for over a year and a half.
In the final report <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/read-the-jan-6-committees-summary-of-its-final-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">summary</a>, the committee, made up of seven Democrats and two Republicans, recommended criminal charges against former President Donald Trump for his role in the events that day — marking a historical moment in U.S. history as no former president has ever been the subject of a criminal referral from Congress.
Johnson called the committee a &#8220;partisan exercise.&#8221;
&#8220;They claimed that it was bipartisan, but I think we all recognize that the two &#8216;Republican&#8217; members that served on that committee had another agenda,&#8221; Johnson said. &#8220;I think that what we got was a biased report. I think they hid some of the important evidence, and, look, we want the American people to draw their own conclusions.&#8221;
&#8220;I don&#8217;t think partisan elected officials in Washington should present a narrative and expect that it should be seen as the ultimate truth when we know that they hid certain elements,&#8221; he added.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) alleged in a Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/j6-committee-failed-to-preserve-records-has-no-data-on-capitol-hill-security-failures-gop-charges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> in August that the committee failed to preserve some documents, data, and video depositions.
But Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), the committee chairman on the nine-member panel, denied the allegations.
&#8220;The Select Committee did not archive temporary committee records that were not elevated by the Committee&#8217;s actions, such as use in hearings or official publications, or those that did not further its investigative activities,&#8221; Thompson <a href="https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4329843-judge-blocks-trump-subpoena-jan-6/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> in August, according to The Hill. &#8220;Accordingly, and contrary to your letter&#8217;s implication, the Select Committee was not obligated to archive all video recordings of transcribed interviews or depositions.&#8221;

Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kevin-mccarthy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kevin McCathy</a> (R-CA) praised his successor in the role of House speaker, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mike-johnson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mike Johnson</a> (R-LA), on Sunday for overseeing the long-awaited release of more <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 6</a> footage to the public.
In an interview on Fox News&#8217; &#8220;<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6341442240112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sunday Morning Futures</a>,&#8221; McCarthy said, &#8220;Johnson&#8217;s doing a tremendous job with that, adding more and more&#8221; after the new speaker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/speaker-johnson-announces-public-release-of-january-6-footage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced the rolling online disclosure</a> of tens of thousands of hours of video on Friday.
Before he was ousted as speaker last month, McCarthy kickstarted the process of releasing U.S. Capitol security tapes, which began to show the public an unvarnished look at the scenes of the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6, 2021, in contrast to the images shown during hearings led by the January 6 Committee when Democrats ran the House.
McCarthy shared access with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/speaker-mccarthy-releases-41000-hours-of-exclusive-jan-6-footage-to-tucker-carlson-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson</a>, who aired footage that included video showing police officers appearing to stand by passively as people poured into the Capitol. Also during his speakership, the House had begun to grant <a href="https://rollcall.com/2023/09/01/media-defendants-to-get-access-to-capitol-video-from-jan-6-attack/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">restricted access</a> to other members of the media and January 6 defendants.
&#8220;The one thing I had found is, we wanted transparency. So, when we took the majority, [the] first thing I did was make sure those tapes became under the responsibility of House Administration. What we found was, [the] January 6 Committee had lied to us, that there were thousands of more hours of tape,&#8221; McCarthy said.
&#8220;And the first thing I wanted to make sure is, anybody who was in jail, had the right to a defense was able to see those tapes. So that was the priority,&#8221; he added. &#8220;The defense was able to go through those. We started bringing press in to be able to see it. We were building a portal where every time the press looked at something and they went through it, the public was able to get it.&#8221;
One particular area in which the video footage made a difference, as noted by McCarthy, was to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/target-of-reconnaissance-tour-story-fires-back-at-january-6-committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">counter allegations</a> about Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) — who is now working to process the footage for public release on a rolling basis as chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight for the Committee on House Administration — giving a “reconnaissance tour” a day before January 6.
&#8220;Barry Loudermilk has done a tremendous job, congressman from Georgia walking through this,&#8221; McCarthy said, adding, &#8220;Remember, he got — they accused him of something that&#8217;s not true, the January 6 Committee, and the tapes actually proved that it was not true, that he wasn&#8217;t giving tours inside. And that&#8217;s really what drove this.&#8221;

Former Proud Boys chairman Enrique Tarrio was sentenced this week to more than two decades behind bars in connection to the breach of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, marking the harshest sentence to date in the Biden DOJ’s handling of January 6. 
Along with Tarrio — who was not even in D.C. on the day of the breach — his co-defendants, fellow Proud Boys, racked up huge sentences, too.
Before Tarrio, Ethan Nordean was tied for having the longest sentence at 18 years. Joe Biggs, a <a href="https://www.military.com/daily-news/2022/06/07/veterans-make-most-of-proud-boys-members-indicted-sedition-jan-6-violence.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">purple heart recipient,</a> was handed down a 17-year sentence, and Zachary Rehl, a U.S. Marine veteran, was hit with a 15-year sentence. 
All four of the men — not a single one even accused of assault — were convicted of seditious conspiracy. Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump appointee who sentenced each young man, agreed with the government that all four of them be hit with a “terrorism sentencing enhancement.” Meaning each sentence will be over ten years at a minimum. 
First, let&#8217;s look at what they were convicted of (among other lesser charges): seditious conspiracy. This is significant. The seditious conspiracy law was enacted after the Civil War to arrest Southerners who might try to keep fighting the U.S. government. It’s extremely rare in its application, and hard to prove – but it’s been used by the Biden DOJ about a dozen times now in connection to the Capitol breach, and so far, rather successfully. 
Save Tarrio, who was not at the Capitol, the other three young men were accused of trespassing and damage to government property. In Biggs&#8217; case, for example, he helped remove a fence outside the Capitol.
These are minor infractions, so the DOJ took on that rare seditious conspiracy charge, which they had to try to prove with speech, and mostly private speech. The government sifted through tens of thousands of private and some public messages from the men to build their flimsy, yet successful, cases.
In one message used by the prosecution, Tarrio <a href="https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/sedition-trial-for-miami-ex-proud-boys-leader-4-others-begins-2-years-after-jan-6-riot/2948854/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> after the breach, &#8220;Make no mistake … we did this.&#8221; The government also highlighted a document outlining a Capital takeover that was sent to Tarrio on social media platform Telegram called “<a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/26/proud-boys-leader-verdict-jan-6-00093891">1776 Returns</a>.” Tarrio did not directly respond to the sent document and claims he never even saw it, let alone open it.
The government told the court Tarrio, who is the son of Cuban immigrants, was &#8220;intelligent, charming, creative, and articulate” and argued that he used those talents to “inflame and radicalize an untold number of followers.”
Defense lawyers maintained throughout the trail that there was not a single shred of written evidence to show that the men conspired to stop the certification of the 2020 election, though they might have boasted and talked &#8220;s***&#8221; to each other, privately. 
Tarrio himself actually spoke about this glaring speech issue during the trial, from inside a jail cell. He suggested the trial concerned free speech, and said that the government is trying to “manipulate” how people speak to each other privately. Here’s what Tarrio said in a Twitter Spaces event, which was hosted on April 25th: 
<blockquote>“What they’re trying to do, what people are trying to do – and this is in general, I’m speaking in general – is manipulate how we talk to each other in the locker room,&#8221; Tarrio <a href="https://twitter.com/gatewaypundit/status/1651006027209342977" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;And it’s not fair &#8230; It’s just not right. It’s not the Justice system that you grew up in civics class learning about.” </blockquote>
Notably, the DOJ has had near-perfect success in prosecuting J6 defendants before D.C. juries – this is a very liberal city, where, in 2020, Biden secured a stunning <a href="https://www.politico.com/2020-election/results/washington-dc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">93%</a> of the vote. That likely emboldened the government to go forward with these extreme charges, knowing they could win. 
It also seems Donald Trump is a key factor in the DOJ going so hard after the Proud Boys: it could help their pursuit of the former president. Trump notably said on television in September of 2020, “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by.” This was breathlessly reported by those in legacy media, the clip was shown by prosecution in this Proud Boys trial, and you can bet it will be a focus at Trump’s coming J6 trial. 
Reporter Julie Kelly, who’s been covering these J6 cases from the very beginning, believes just that. 
<blockquote>“There is no case for seditious conspiracy – certainly they could be charged with trespassing, or, ya know, vandalizing property – no one is accused of assaulting a police officer,&#8221; Kelly <a href="https://rumble.com/v2krcrc-tucker-speaks-again-atf-attacks-americans-proud-boys-on-trial-rep.-nehls-bi.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> months ago on Real America&#8217;s Voice. &#8220;The reason why the outcome of this trial matters, is because the government is going to use this – any convictions – special counsel Jack Smith – to indict Donald Trump on the very same offenses.”</blockquote>
Trump has since been <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/01/us/politics/trump-indictment-charges-jan-6.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged</a> with conspiracy to violate civil rights, conspiracy to defraud the government, the corrupt obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy to carry out such obstruction.
While the DOJ has continued this harsh pursuit, the American people have taken notice. Polling by Rasmussen from about 10 months after January 6 showed that <a href="https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/september_2021/are_capitol_rioters_political_prisoners_many_voters_say_yes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nearly half</a> of all Americans thought J6 defendants were “political prisoners.” And polling from this year by Quinnipiac showed that <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/articles/polls-show-americans-are-divided-on-the-significance-of-january-6/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">about half the country</a> is ready to move on from J6, finding it less significant an event than it’s being portrayed.
Some GOP lawmakers have weighed in on this, too, saying these defendants are being treated poorly and far more harshly than any BLM protester or rioter has been treated. Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley (R), for example, has called out the DOJ for this disparity. 
In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland last year, Hawley wrote:
<blockquote> “While you treat persons charged with petty offenses from the January 6 riot as hardened criminals, now even the most heinous offenses can be treated leniently, as long as the perpetrator is of the correct race and the crime can be connected to some progressive cause.” </blockquote>
One case highlighted was over a BLM protester named Montez Terriel Lee, Jr. who was convicted of arson to a pawn shop that resulted in the death of a 30-year-old man. The DOJ, citing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to defend Lee, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/prosecutors-win-light-sentence-for-man-who-set-deadly-fire-during-floyd-riots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">argued</a> for a lighter sentence for the man. Lee was sentenced to ten years – that’s less than half of Tarrio’s sentence – and, again, Tarrio wasn&#8217;t present at the riot. 
Lawmakers have also <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/republicans-treated-jan-6-inmates-celebrities-jail-visit-1234703702/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised objections</a> about how long some of these defendants have been <a href="https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/verify/why-capitol-riot-defendants-being-held-without-bond-before-trial-january-6-congress/65-1e4d4dd6-eded-4187-85f1-d4dfcc3a9519" target="_blank" rel="noopener">held in jail</a> without bond awaiting their trials, arguing that their due process rights have been violated. Tarrio, for example, was locked up since March 2022 &#8211; long before his trial even started. 
To date, more than 1,100 Americans have been charged in connection to the Capitol breach, and more than 300 people have already been sentenced to prison time. And it doesn&#8217;t appear the DOJ is slowing down.

House Republicans announced on Friday that members of the media and other qualified individuals will have access to view security footage from the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6, 2021.
“House Republicans are continuing to deliver on our promise to bring transparency and accountability to the People’s House by increasing access to security footage of the U.S. Capitol from January 5th and 6th, 2021,” Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) <a href="https://www.courthousenews.com/congress-to-grant-limited-access-to-jan-6-security-footage-house-gop-says/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> said in a statement.
GOP lawmakers first <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/marjorie-taylor-greene-announces-new-round-of-journalists-receive-unfettered-access-to-j6-tapes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> earlier this year they would begin to slowly roll out to individual news agencies more than 40,000 hours of security footage from the Capitol breach to networks to counter the “politicization” fostered by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the January 6th Committee.
The Committee on House Administration published a set of guidelines that would allow members of the U.S. media, government-focused nonprofit organizations, and attorneys for defendants facing charges related to the January 6 to submit requests to view the footage.
“This announcement stands in stark contrast to the previous Democrat leadership, who blocked access to the footage and only showed carefully edited clips to the public,” Loudermilk, who chairs the administration committee’s oversight subpanel, added.
According to program rules, those seeking access to the security tapes would need to set an appointment that limits them to watch the footage for three hours at a time, once a week. Spectators are prohibited from recording the tapes from secured terminals inside the Capitol building and may only be given portions of the footage at the committee’s discretion.

For more than two years, U.S. citizens have called on lawmakers to release the footage to the public, expressing concerns over how media outlets curate the timeline of events.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) announced in May that three news media outlets received footage from the Capitol breach to bring the American people more transparency about what happened that day.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) released “unfettered access” of the Capitol security footage to investigative journalist and Just the News founder John Solomon, senior writer for American Greatness Julie Kelly, and an unidentified third news outlet.
McCarthy first gave the exclusive surveillance footage to former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who reported on several tapes showing two Capitol police officers escorting Jacob Chansley, known as the “QAnon Shaman,” throughout the building.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called from the Senate floor for Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch to pull Carlson off the air, and reporters from several sites hounded McCarthy for giving Carlson’s team access to the video.
Schumer accused McCarthy in a February letter to his colleagues of potentially causing another “attack” on the Capitol by releasing the security footage from January 6, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/3870181-schumer-blasts-mccarthy-for-giving-jan-6-footage-to-fox-news/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The Hill.
“The speaker is needlessly exposing the Capitol complex to one of the worst security risks since 9/11,” Schumer said in a letter to Senate Democrats. “The footage Speaker McCarthy is making available to Fox News is a treasure trove of closely held information about how the Capitol complex is protected and its public release would compromise the safety of the Legislative Branch and allow those who want to commit another attack to learn how Congress is safeguarded.”

Republican Rep. Barry Loudermilk of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/georgia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Georgia</a> is demanding that the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/white-house" target="_blank" rel="noopener">White House</a> turn over a number of transcripts of interviews with the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6-committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Select Committee on January 6</a>.
Loudermilk heads the House Administration Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and is leading an audit of the disbanded January 6 committee’s investigation into the Capitol riot. Loudermilk revealed earlier this month that the January 6 committee did not keep all of its records, and that some are being held by the White House and Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
“[T]he White House is in possession of records that are the property of the U.S. House of Representatives, including testimony provided to the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol,” Loudermilk wrote in a Friday <a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/23927253-82523-rep-loudermilk-letter-to-sauber62" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to the White House obtained by <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/house-republican-demands-unredacted-jan-6-panel-transcripts-white-hous-rcna101807" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a>. “These records must be returned immediately in their original form without alteration or redaction.”
The Georgia Republican said that the White House appears to be holding the transcripts of interviews of “multiple Secret Service agents or employees who were assigned to former President Trump on January 6, 2021.” Loudermilk said that the interviews of the Secret Service employees were referenced in November 2022 letters between the White House and DHS.
“[N]o Congressional committee, prior to the Democrat-controlled Select Committee, had ever sought to compel the testimony of a Secret Service agent about activities they observed while performing protective functions,” he wrote. “Despite this, you wrote that President Biden would not assert executive privilege with respect to testimony to be provided by these individuals to the Select Committee.”

Earlier this month, Loudermilk accused the committee of manipulating evidence to create an anti-Trump “narrative” while failing to investigate key aspects of the Capitol riot, such as the actions of security officials at the U.S. Capitol that day.
“Basically, all they did after spending $18.5 million was come out with a manifesto against [former President Donald Trump], trying to tie Donald Trump to the attack on the Capitol,” Loudermilk said in an interview with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/investigate-the-investigators-j6-committee-ignored-manipulated-evidence-for-narrative-gop-rep-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a>. “That was their narrative. Everything that they did appears to be to just come up with that narrative.”

The January 6 committee “blue team” was tasked with investigating Capitol security, but Loudermilk said that after reviewing the committee’s underlying research, his team found next to no documentation showing the blue team ever investigated.
“That’s a set of documents that we don’t have. Now our question is: did these documents ever exist?” he said. “It’s more than likely,” Loudermilk said, that the blue team did investigate, but found something that “somebody didn’t want them to,” so “they suppressed the records.”

GOP Rep Investigating J6 Demands Unredacted Records From White House

A Republican congressman auditing the Democrat-driven investigation into <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 6</a> says the now-disbanded <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/u-s-house-of-representatives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House</a> select committee manipulated its findings to craft a political narrative.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight for the Committee on House Administration, received a request from House Speaker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kevin-mccarthy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kevin McCarthy</a> to audit the January 6 committee’s findings. After gathering the piles of evidence – documents, depositions, videos, and other information – uncovered by the January 6 Committee, Loudermilk says there are conspicuous gaps in the records.

The Georgia Republican requested all of the January 6 committee records from its former chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS). What Loudermilk received showed how the January 6 committee omitted key facts about the riot in its final report, he said.
The most shocking discovery that Loudermilk made, he said, was evidence that showed “there were some plain-clothes law enforcement officers” among the rioters “who were encouraging people to go into the Capitol.”
He said the January 6 committee also manipulated evidence and made false claims, in one instance targeting him. The report says Loudermilk gave a tour of the U.S. Capitol to a man later accused of joining the riot. The man “took a tour of the Capitol with Representative Barry Loudermilk, during which he took pictures of hallways and staircases,” the <a href="https://www.jan-6.com/_files/ugd/acac13_ffa28ed6c2694272a265860e447122c7.pdf?gclid=Cj0KCQjwldKmBhCCARIsAP-0rfz2KznjL2iAGt2_CakMqdwXLHYukr_NvfAs5yF0JsGe6we6pp5EE0MaAu-kEALw_wcB" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> says.
The Georgia congressman says that is false. Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/jan-6-panel-releases-new-surveillance-video-tour-eve-riot-rcna33713" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the committee that, while Loudermilk did lead a tour of several people around some of the Capitol Hill offices and hallways, they never entered the Capitol building.
In addition, Loudermilk says he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/j6-committee-records-white-house-correspondence-missing-gop-lawmaker" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> little about the security around the Capitol building that day. The committee investigated it; it assigned its “blue team” to cover that part of the investigation into the riot. But Loudermilk says that little evidence from the blue team’s research was included in the files he received.

Notably not included in the boxes of evidence, Loudermilk found a letter Thompson sent to the White House and the Department of Homeland Security appearing to show a manifest of records the committee received from both as part of its investigation. Thompson’s letter catalogued what it was returning as the committee was shutting down. Loudermilk said those records never should have been returned, and is now attempting to retrieve them.
“We need to get to the truth of what really happened and look into the conduct of the January 6 committee,” Loudermilk said. After all of his discoveries, one of his primary concerns now is working out “how much more of this report is just made up narrative.”

Investigate The Investigators: J6 Committee Ignored, Manipulated Evidence For ‘Narrative,’ GOP Rep Says

The House committee assembled to investigate the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 6</a>, 2021, riot at the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/us-capitol" target="_blank" rel="noopener">U.S. Capitol</a> did not properly document and save its communications or records it collected.
Republican Rep. Barry Loudermilk of Georgia, chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight for the Committee on House Administration, is heading a GOP effort to audit the January 6 committee’s findings but says his probe has been hampered because of a lack of documentation, according to Fox News. Numerous documents and recordings, as well as the January 6 committee’s communications with the White House, appear to be missing from the stores of information and data left for Loudermilk to sort through.
“It took us a long time going through it and one thing I started realizing is we don’t have anything much at all from the Blue Team,” Loudermilk told <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/j6-committee-failed-to-preserve-records-has-no-data-on-capitol-hill-security-failures-gop-charges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a>, referencing a subgroup on the January 6 committee tasked with probing security failures. “We’ve got lots of depositions, we’ve got lots of subpoenas, we’ve got video and other documents provided through subpoenas by individuals. But we’re not seeing anything from the Blue Team as far as reports on the investigation they did looking into the actual breach itself.”
Loudermilk said, based on people he spoke with, the select committee on January 6 intentionally did not investigate security failures that contributed to the riot in order to focus blame on former President Donald Trump. Former January 6 committee chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) said last month that he believes his committee’s work “put significant pressure” on the Department of Justice to indict Trump over January 6.
“I think up until that point of the hearings, it could have gone either way. But I think the compelling argument that we made as a committee for millions of Americans as to how close we came to losing our democracy, [the Justice Department] really didn’t … have a choice,” Thompson <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4127211-bennie-thompson-says-jan-6-hearings-helped-pressure-doj/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “And when the special prosecutor was put forth, I think we helped make his case.”
The gaps in the January 6 committee records came to light after defense attorneys representing clients charged over the riot began requesting documents and other evidence from Loudermilk for their cases. The congressman said some of what he was asked for, he did not have.
Loudermilk relayed his concerns to Thompson, who said that his committee turned over all that was required of it, totaling four terabytes of information. Loudermilk contested that claim, saying he had only received 2.5 terabytes of data. He also said that Thompson’s committee violated federal law and admitted as much in a footnote of a letter Thompson sent Loudermilk on July 7. Thompson has denied the accusation.
The footnote said in part: “Consistent with guidance from the Office of the Clerk and other authorities, the Select Committee did not archive temporary committee records that were not elevated by the Committee’s actions, such as use in hearings or official publications, or those that did not further its investigative activities. Accordingly, and contrary to your letter’s implication, the Select Committee was not obligated to archive all video recordings of transcribed interviews or depositions.”
Loudermilk told Fox News: “It was clear in law they had to especially and, I mean if there was any question, the fact that they used the videos in the hearings would dictate that it had to be preserved. The more we go in the more we&#8217;re realizing that there&#8217;s things that we don&#8217;t have. We don’t have anything about security failures at the Capitol, we don’t have the videos of the depositions.”

The Georgia Republican also discovered that missing from the January 6 files are an unknown number of communications sent between the committee and the White House. Loudermilk made the discovery when he obtained a letter sent from Thompson to the White House and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that was not included in the committee’s files.
&#8220;No version of the letter to Mr. Sauber — either redacted or unredacted — or the letter to the DHS General Counsel was archived by the Select Committee or provided to this Committee,&#8221; Loudermilk wrote in a letter to Thompson.
The January 6 committee was largely a Democratic effort, except for former Republican Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, who joined the committee after Republican leader Kevin McCarthy refused to countenance the committee over restrictions on which Republicans could join.
