However, the moment of potential liberation for oppressed Iranians was met with predictable hand-wringing from the far-Left. Actress Jane Fonda took to social media to attack the Trump-led strike, labeling it &#8220;dangerous and insane&#8221; and claiming to be deeply concerned that the conflict would &#8220;risk the lives of many, including U.S. servicepeople.&#8221;
Panahi was quick to expose Fonda’s posturing, firing back: &#8220;This b*tch. Again. If the liberation of genuinely oppressed women fills you with dread then you may be a witch.&#8221;

Panahi’s outrage highlights the staggering hypocrisy of Fonda’s sudden concern for American troops. Fonda’s history reveals a woman who did not merely oppose a war, but actively collaborated with an enemy that was killing and torturing American servicemen. In 1972, Fonda traveled to Hanoi, famously posing on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun used to shoot down American pilots. She didn&#8217;t stop at photo ops; she recorded ten propaganda broadcasts over Radio Hanoi to demoralize U.S. troops, the <a href="https://archive.seattletimes.com/archive/19900724/1083990/fondas-1972-journey-to-north-vietnam-continues-to-haunt-her----plainly-jane#:~:text=Jane%20shrugged%20off%20as%20%60%60,men%20who've%20been%20brainwashed.">Seattle Times</a> reported. At the &#8220;Hanoi Hilton,&#8221; these broadcasts were played on a loop to torture the psychological state of American POWs.
The depth of Fonda’s betrayal was most evident in her treatment of those prisoners. When POWs were beaten and tortured into appearing at a press conference with her, she reportedly chose not to notice their robotic delivery or broken limbs, the Seattle Times stated. Upon their return to the U.S., she branded these broken men &#8220;hypocrites and liars,&#8221; infamously claiming, &#8220;I think that one of the only ways that we are going to redeem ourselves as a country for what we have done there is not to hail the POWs as heroes, because they are hypocrites and liars. History will judge them severely.&#8221; She told an audience of 3,000 people at UCLA, &#8220;We should recognize that there is considerable room for doubting these charges of torture, at the very least. We should remain skeptical. We have no reason to believe that U.S. Air Force officers tell the truth. They are professional killers&#8230;&#8221;
For Fonda to now cloak her anti-Trump rhetoric in &#8220;concern&#8221; for the safety of the U.S. military is a masterclass in historical revisionism. As Panahi’s response suggests, Fonda’s track record shows she is far more comfortable siding with despotic regimes than standing with the American soldiers she once slandered or the Iranian women currently yearning for freedom.

Actress and activist Jane Fonda has coined a new slogan for her Hollywood &#8220;resistance&#8221; group — and it just so happens to share its initials with cable news giant CNN.
Fonda joined CNN anchor Dana Bash on Thursday to promote the newly relaunched Committee for the First Amendment — a group that was first formed in the 1940s as a backstop against McCarthy-era blacklists in the entertainment industry. Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda&#8217;s late father, was one of the group&#8217;s original members.
&#8220;No president has ever sent troops into the Democratic cities across the country saying full force,&#8221; Fonda said. &#8220;No president, as far as I know, has tried to control the Federal Reserve, the central bank. He is amassing power in a way that will destroy our democracy. And so we‘re going to stand up. We‘re creatives. We‘re storytellers. We can do it creatively. We can have a good time while we do it.&#8221;

The actress confirmed that she had bigger plans in the works, saying that she also planned to create a PAC and encourage like-minded candidates to run for office.
&#8220;We‘re going to have a good group, and we‘re going to have fun doing it,&#8221; Fonda said. &#8220;But I also have a PAC, a climate PAC that elects people all over the country because I don‘t feel that our leaders are doing what they need to do. And if you can‘t change the people, change the people. That‘s what we‘re doing,&#8221; she said.
The group, according to its <a href="https://www.committeeforthefirstamendment.com">website</a>, has already ballooned into the hundreds — from show-runners and directors to A-list actors and musicians — all of whom who are ready to &#8220;stand together in defense of our constitutional rights.&#8221;

Activist and actress Jane Fonda is trying to rebrand the word “woke,” insisting it’s not a negative descriptor. 
The 87-year-old made her plea during her speech at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night after being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
&#8220;This means the world to me,&#8221; Fonda said. &#8220;And your enthusiasm makes it seem less like a late twilight of my life and more like a &#8216;Go, girl. Kick ass,&#8217; which is good because I&#8217;m not done.&#8221;
After discussing her love of acting, the leftist, sometimes called “Hanoi Jane” referencing her 1972 visit to North Vietnam, started spouting off her opinions on current events, saying at one point, “Make no mistake, empathy is not weak or &#8216;woke.&#8217; And by the way, &#8216;woke&#8217; just means you give a damn about other people. Back to empathy.”
Critics on social media hit back, saying Fonda, of all people, should think about her words. “Hey Hanoi Jane, did you &#8216;give a damn&#8217; about the American servicemen you betrayed in Vietnam? Woke is just communist propaganda, so I&#8217;m not surprised that Jane proudly identifies with it,” one person <a href="https://x.com/scarlett4kids/status/1893888851627651238">wrote</a>. 
&#8220;I&#8217;m a big believer in unions. They have our backs,&#8221; the star said during her lengthy <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/movies/2025/02/23/jane-fonda-sag-awards-speech-trump/79899116007/">speech</a>. &#8220;Community means power, and this is really important right now when workers&#8217; power is being attacked, and community is being weakened.&#8221;
“But SAG-AFTRA is different than most other unions because us the workers, we actors, we don&#8217;t manufacture anything tangible. What we create is empathy. Our job is to understand another human being so profoundly that we can touch their souls. We know why they do what they do. We feel their joy and their pain.”
Fonda continued by criticizing President Donald Trump without saying his name. 
“And I&#8217;m sure many of you guys have played bullies and misogynists, and you can pretty much know that probably their father bullied them and called men that he felt were weak &#8216;losers&#8217; … And while you may hate the behavior of your character, you have to understand and empathize with the traumatized person you&#8217;re playing, right? I&#8217;m thinking Sebastian Stan in &#8216;The Apprentice,&#8217;” she said, referring to the actor who played Donald Trump in the 2024 movie. 
“I made my first movie in 1958. It was at the tail end of McCarthyism, when so many careers were destroyed,” Fonda went on. “Today, it’s helpful to remember, though, that Hollywood resisted.”
She then asked the crowd: “Have any of you ever watched a documentary of one of the great social movements — apartheid or civil rights or Stonewall — and ask yourself, would you have been brave enough to walk the bridge? We don’t have to wonder anymore. We are in our documentary moment. This is it, and it’s not a rehearsal!”
Fonda concluded her speech by telling the audience, “There will still be love, there will still be beauty, and there will be an ocean of truth for us to swim in.”

No! He’s fine, not frozen! He’s just auditioning for the Tin Man role next week.
Most stars kept on the sidelines, likely aware of Biden’s cognitive decline. Now, they’re rushing to the nearest microphone or Zoom camera to sing Harris’ praises.
She’s black! She’s a woman! She’s Indian! She’s not orange! She doesn’t have to call it a day at 4:00 pm! Did we mention she’s a woman?

Not to be outdone, Hanoi Jane highlighted an Elders for Kamala fundraising event. Here’s far-Left actress Jane Fonda, taking time out from her <a href="https://time.com/6958813/earth-awards-2024-jane-fonda/">Climate Change fire drill shtick</a>, <a href="https://variety.com/2024/digital/news/comics-elders-kamala-harris-fundraiser-nick-offerman-jane-fonda-1236096484/">promoting Harris.</a>

She’s so smart and fierce she refuses to be interviewed by a fawning press landscape. Even more courage.
Fonda connects to a previous celebrity age, given her traitorous Vietnam War activism. The recent celebrity cringe tracks back to the rise of Obama. After the former community activist became the nation’s first black president celebrities groveled to serve him.
“I pledge to be a servant to our president,” Demi Moore said with then beau Ashton Kutcher by her side. “… and all mankind.” Kutcher finished. To be fair, that’s more creepy than cringe.
Expect more of the same in the coming weeks. And this is all before the Harris/Walz ticket makes its late-night TV debut. That cringe may be visible from space. And you thought Stephen Colbert’s dancing COVID-19 vaccine syringes were embarrassing.

Celebrities have been cutting “get out the vote” videos for some time. The tropes are instantly recognizable. The line repetition. The stars eschewing makeup to look “serious.” The progressive talking points.
The worst might have been when <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38340115">Martin Sheen, Debra Messing</a>, Bob Odenkirk, Noah Wyle and others begged Republican electors to block Donald Trump’s rise to the White House. It’s the rare time Hollywood stars stopped calling Republicans monsters and white nationalists.
So much for democracy.
The creaky celebrity video trend got so bad some funny conservatives mocked it with their own <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95HMg1l13EM&amp;t=1s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">faux election year video.</a>
These tony cringe-fests aren’t relegated to election season. Recall how “Saturday Night Live” sang a <a href="https://www.billboard.com/culture/tv-film/snl-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-mueller-8487684/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christmas-themed song</a> tied to Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his infamous “report?”
“I just want to sleep at night. Please make sure your case is tight.”
Spoiler alert. It wasn’t.
“SNL” previously beclowned itself by singing a somber cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” when Hillary Clinton lost to Trump in 2016. Was it worse than asking “SNL” regulars to serenade departing President Obama with “To Sir, with Love.”
This is a political comedy show, remember. So how did the show’s staff and crew forget?
Easy. When it comes to electing Democrats, Hollywood stars will do or say anything. Literally.

Actress Jane Fonda, whose leftist views have engendered harsh criticism over the decades, added to her radical resume over the weekend, holding white men responsible for the “climate crisis” and demanding their imprisonment.
Fonda made her remarks at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday.
“This is serious,” Fonda charged, according to <a href="https://www.outkick.com/jane-fonda-says-climate-change-caused-by-men-and-racism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Outkick.</a> “We’ve got about seven, eight years to cut ourselves in half of what we use of fossil fuels. &#8230; Unfortunately, the people that have the least responsibility for it are hit the hardest — Global South, people on islands, poor people of color. It is a tragedy that we have to absolutely stop. We have to arrest and jail those men — they’re all men [behind this].&#8221;
“It’s good for us all to realize there would be no climate crisis if there was no racism,” she continued. “There would be no climate crisis if there was no patriarchy. A mindset that sees things in a hierarchical way. White men are the things that matter and then everything else [is] at the bottom.”
“You can take anything, racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, whatever, the war; if you really get into it and study it, and learn about it and the history of it, everything’s connected. There’d be no climate crisis if it wasn’t for racism,” she posited.
Fonda’s long history of leftist activism has included slamming some returning Vietnam War POWs as “hypocrites and liars.” As <a href="https://patriotpost.us/pages/80" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Patriot Post</a> reported of her actions during the Vietnam War, Fonda stated, “These were not men who had been tortured. These were not men who had been starved. These were not men who had been brainwashed. &#8230; Pilots were saying it was the policy of the Vietnamese and that it was systematic. I believe that&#8217;s a lie.”
In 2019, Fonda, who infamously posed with the North Vietnamese Viet Cong during the Vietnam War, said “climate criminals” should be treated like Nazi war criminals who were given a Nuremberg-style trial.
As Karen Townsend of <a href="https://hotair.com/archives/karen-townsend/2019/11/12/jane-fonda-nuremberg-trials-war-criminals-fossil-fuel-executives/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hot Air reported,</a> in an interview with Michael Moynihan on Viceland’s “The Impeachment Show,” Fonda asserted that oil executives and enabling politicians “should all be tried for crimes against humanity and nature,” prompting Moynihan to ask, “So, you want to see sort of a Nuremberg trial for climate criminals?” Fonda replied, “Yeah, I would.”
Moynihan asked, “You said Congress is bought off by the fossil fuel industry. If that is true, and that is true of the man in the White House is the same, what do we do? Where do we go from here?”
“Well, we get rid of them,” Fonda responded.
“How do we do that?” Moynihan queried.
“It’s too late now for moderation,” Fonda answered. “Because of the fossil fuel industry, we have to elect people who are very brave because what they have to do, what we have to do, what we have to make them do is unprecedented. &#8230; I think that democracy is teetering on the edge of collapse … that’s why we need to go into the streets. Our government is being ruled by fossil fuel. That’s a fact that can be proven. The war are being fought for oil. Our men and women are being killed and maimed, wounded psychologically and physically because of oil. I mean, they should all be tried for crimes against humanity and nature.”
“Who, in particular?” Moynihan asked.
“The people who run the fossil fuel industry,” Fonda answered. “And I might add, the politicians that they bought off who haven’t got the gumption to stand up to it.”
“So you want to see a sort of Nuremberg trial for climate criminals,” Moynihan suggested.
“Yeah, I would,” Fonda concluded.

Fonda is the daughter of Oscar-nominated actor Peter Fonda and Susan Brewer, the niece of two-time Oscar-winning actress <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/jane-fonda/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jane Fonda</a> (who was nominated an additional five times), and the granddaughter of two-time Oscar-winning actor <a href="https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0000020/awards/?ref_=nm_awd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Henry Fonda</a>. And although she made her screen debut at age 5 — an uncredited role in 1969&#8217;s &#8220;Easy Rider&#8221; — she says civilian life is more her speed.
The retired actress, who has only been seen in public a few times since she left the Hollywood scene in 2002, was spotted on Monday at the Los Angeles International Airport with her 18-year-old son, Oliver Elfman.
Asked by a paparazzo whether she planned to make another movie, she simply replied, &#8220;No.&#8221; When pressed further, she added, &#8220;I don’t think [there’s any chance]. It’s too nice being a civilian.&#8221;

Wayne State University professor Steven Shaviro <a href="https://www.fox2detroit.com/news/wayne-state-professor-suspended-after-advocating-for-killing-right-wing-speakers-on-campuses" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has been suspended</a> over a now-deleted Facebook post in which he suggested it was &#8220;more admirable&#8221; to kill conservative speakers than to engage with them.
In the post, Shaviro argued that protests and attempts to disrupt or shout down conservative speakers would only play into their hands and ultimately make the protesters look like the villains. Given that, he said that shouting down &#8220;bigots&#8221; would only strengthen them.

In the post, Shaviro wrote:
<blockquote>So here is what I think about free speech on campus. Although I do not advocate violating federal and state criminal codes, I think it is far more admirable to kill a racist, homophobic, or transphobic speaker than it is to shout them down.
When right-wing groups invite such speakers to campus, it is precisely because they want to provoke an incident that discredits the left, and gives more publicity and validation to these reprehensible views than they could otherwise attain. The protesters get blamed instead of the bigoted speaker; the university administration finds a perfect excuse to side publicly with the racists or phobes; the national and international press has a field day saying that bigots are the ones being oppressed, rather than the people those bigots actually hate being the victims of oppression.
In short, every time protestors shout down a racist or transphobic speaker, they are indulging their own moral sense of validity at the expense of actually strengthening the very bigots against whom they are protesting.
The exemplary historical figure in this regard is Sholem Schwarzbard, who assassinated the anti-Semitic butcher Symon Petliura, rather than trying to shout him down. Remember that Schwarzbard was acquitted by a jury, which found his action justified.</blockquote>
Wayne State President M. Roy Wilson sent out a <a href="https://www.thesouthend.wayne.edu/article_8fa6a4d6-ccc4-11ed-9312-0337d9f0f401.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">campus-wide email</a> on Monday confirming that Shaviro had been suspended with pay and his Facebook post had been forwarded to law enforcement for further investigation.
&#8220;We have on many occasions defended the right of free speech, but we feel this post far exceeds the bounds of reasonable or protected speech,&#8221; Wilson explained.
Ph.D. candidate Shelby Cadwell, who has worked with Shaviro for several years, complained that the university was actually perpetuating the problem by suspending the professor. She went on to suggest that objections to his post amounted to anti-Semitic attacks directed at him.
&#8220;His social media post … was drawing attention to the very problem that Wayne State is ironically perpetuating by suspending him. The problem is that fascists use the ‘free speech’ values of universities to provoke and incite protest, sometimes even violence, and then automatically find themselves on the right side of the issue,&#8221; Cadwell argued. &#8220;The university administration&#8217;s kneejerk response to this targeted campaign against an elderly, Jewish, and utterly harmless human being is the truly morally reprehensible act.&#8221;

Whoopi Goldberg complained Tuesday about a joke told by former Vice President Mike Pence about Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg — less than a week after her co-hosts laughed off a <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/obviously-made-in-jest-jane-fonda-scrambles-to-walk-back-suggestion-that-shed-murder-pro-lifers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jane Fonda</a> &#8220;joke&#8221; about murdering pro-lifers.
Pence <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/spare-america-the-faux-outrage-pences-team-fires-back-at-white-house-demanding-apology/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">made the wisecrack</a> at the annual Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, D.C., saying of Buttigieg, &#8220;He took two months ‘maternity’ leave whereupon thousands of travelers were stranded in airports, the air traffic system shut down, and airplanes nearly collided on our runways. Pete is the only person in human history to have a child and everyone else gets postpartum depression.&#8221;
The former vice president&#8217;s remarks prompted an immediate demand from the White House for an apology — to which Pence&#8217;s team replied, &#8220;Spare America the faux outrage&#8221; — and Goldberg picked up on that, claiming on Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;The View&#8221; that she was outraged.

Whoopi began by repeating the joke — prompting a smattering of laughter from the audience before she pointedly informed them the joke was not funny.
&#8220;Now, I will point out that this joke wasn&#8217;t funny when Tucker Carlson did it, it wasn&#8217;t funny when Lauren Boebert did it, it&#8217;s just not funny. It&#8217;s just not a funny joke,&#8221; she insisted, going on to claim that she was mostly outraged because Pence didn&#8217;t come up with a more original joke. &#8220;It was sloppy and very lazy.&#8221;
Goldberg was out the day that Jane Fonda joined &#8220;The View,&#8221; but her co-hosts had all <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/jane-fonda-suggests-murder-in-response-to-overturning-of-roe-v-wade/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">laughed it off</a> when the actress suggested &#8220;murder&#8221; as a viable next step if protests and rallies did not bring about a return to abortion on demand.
&#8220;We have experienced many decades now of having agency over our body, of being able to determine when and how many children to have,&#8221; Fonda said in response to the recent reversal of the landmark abortion case Roe v Wade. &#8220;We know what that feels like, we know what that’s done for our lives. We’re not going back; I don’t care what the laws are. We’re not going back.&#8221;
Joy Behar pressed Fonda a bit there, asking what she intended to do if marching and protesting were not enough to bring about change.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve thought of murder,&#8221; Fonda replied, glaring at Behar when she informed the audience it was a joke.

As her words quickly sparked backlash, Fonda claimed — in a <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/jane-fonda-walks-back-murder-comment-about-pro-lifers-after-getting-torched-online" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> released later that same day — that the comments she&#8217;d made on the ABC midday talk show had been &#8220;in jest.&#8221; She then pivoted to accuse her critics of focusing more on jokes than on &#8220;the actual problem at hand.&#8221;
&#8220;While women’s reproductive rights are a very serious issue and extremely important to me, my comment on The View was obviously made in jest. My body language and tone made it clear to those in the room — and to anyone watching — that I was using hyperbole to make a point,&#8221; Fonda said in a public statement.
&#8220;Women across the country are facing real threats when it comes to our bodies, and people lose faith in our mission to protect women when others choose to focus on tangential issues and passing jokes instead of the actual problem at hand,&#8221; she added.
Friday&#8217;s <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/jane-fonda-suggests-murder-in-response-to-overturning-of-roe-v-wade/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">conversation</a> began with Fonda&#8217;s claim that, after decades of women in America having access to abortion on demand, she didn&#8217;t care what laws were passed or what rulings were overturned: &#8220;We’re not going back, I don’t care what the laws are. We&#8217;re not going back.&#8221;
Co-host Sunny Hostin, who has often <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/proud-roman-catholic-sunny-hostin-thanks-the-view-for-teaching-her-she-was-wrong-to-tell-other-people-not-to-abort-their-babies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed to be pro-life</a> herself, dismissed Fonda&#8217;s comment as proof that she was an activist at heart. &#8220;That&#8217;s the activist speaking, and she probably will get a Nobel Prize.&#8221;
&#8220;The View&#8221; host Joy Behar pressed Fonda on that point, asking what she thought could be done in addition to simply staging protests on the issue.

But despite Fonda&#8217;s later claim that it was &#8220;clear to those in the room&#8221; that her suggestion had not been serious, Behar immediately stepped in to inform the audience that it was a joke — a move which prompted a glare from Fonda and laughter from everyone else at the table.
But her critics were not so sure that it was a joke.
&#8220;Not sure why the outrage over this. I applaud Jane Fonda for her honesty. They all feel this way. At least she had the balls to say it. S. Supreme Court that overturned <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/roe-v-wade" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Roe v. Wade</a> as a result of Dobbs v. Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization. &#8220;Well, I&#8217;ve thought of murder,&#8221; Fonda explained, before her &#8220;Grace and Frankie&#8221; co-star Lily Tomlin asked her to repeat that.
&#8220;Murder,&#8221; the &#8220;9 to 5&#8221; star explained once more, as the audience and co-hosts broke into laughter.
Behar replied that Fonda was &#8220;just kidding. Wait a second. … They&#8217;ll pick up on that and just run with it. She&#8217;s just kidding.&#8221;
The camera did a close-up on Tomlin, who genuinely looked surprised as she waited for Fonda to admit she was joking. However, when the camera panned over to the actress, she just gave a long stare, leaving audience members and viewers wondering if she was kidding or not.
Hostin then directed the conversation toward the Hollywood star&#8217;s well-known activism and the panel just moved on.

And you were photographed sitting on an anti-aircraft gun,&#8221; <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/jane-fonda-hanoi-jane-photo-chris-wallace/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wallace began</a>, adding, &#8220;Critics, and there were millions of them, called you a Hanoi Jane and said you were a traitor. And the question I have is 50 years later, how do you look back on that particular chapter?&#8221;
&#8220;It was a terrible mistake. I mean, the reality is, there were 24,000 American troops on the ground in South Vietnam. That’s all the ground troops were going home. The war was being fought by the air during during the Nixon administration,&#8221; Fonda replied, saying that she had spent years talking to American soldiers who felt that the war had been &#8220;wrong&#8221; and that Americans were not wanted there.
&#8220;They realized that the war was wrong, that we weren’t wanted there. And that we probably couldn’t win it, not because they weren’t a(sic) fabulous soldiers. But because of the nature of Vietnam,&#8221; she said.
&#8220;So when you say it was a terrible mistake &#8230;&#8221; Wallace prompted again.
&#8220;It was a mistake to go, I never wanted to go to any military installations. It was the last day of my two week time there. And I was like a limp noodle, what I had experienced and what I had seen, I just I wasn’t able to resist, they said we’re gonna take you out here today,&#8221; Fonda continued.
Fonda went on to say that the photos showing her smiling were taken after someone had sung a song that made her laugh, not because she was mocking the situation.
&#8220;And you know, maybe I was set up, but I was an adult, it’s I’m gonna take responsibility for it,&#8221; she said. &#8220;If I was Vietnamese, I probably would have tried to do the same thing, you know, but I should not have gone.&#8221;
The &#8220;80 for Brady&#8221; actress pointed out the fact that she had not been the first or only one to visit North Vietnam — she had just been the only movie star, and she had made the choice to go because she hoped it would draw more attention.
&#8220;And that’s what it did,&#8221; she said. &#8220;So I feel that, well if what I did was good, except that I shouldn’t have gone out to a military place.&#8221;
&#8220;When you got that nickname Hanoi Jane, how did you feel at the time?&#8221; Wallace pressed again.
Fonda admitted that she had not liked hearing that name, but that she stood by her decision to protest the war.
&#8220;When you know why you did something, and you’re willing to admit the mistakes that you made, but stand up for the things that you did that that mattered? You’re gonna come through it, okay,&#8221; she explained to Wallace. &#8220;And I refused to have them scare me away from being actively against the Vietnam War. And, you know, I think they thought, oh, she’s this white privilege rich, famous daughter of all of that stuff. You know, we can we can scare her, and boy did they try? And the more they tried, the more I —&#8221;
&#8220;The more you what?&#8221; Wallace asked.
&#8220;I dug in my heels,&#8221; she said.
Another segment of the lengthy interview <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/chris-wallace-segment-with-jane-fonda-gets-awkward-in-a-hurry-are-you-married-are-you-interested/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">took an awkward turn</a> when Fonda, who lamented being inept at small talk at cocktail parties, asked whether Wallace was married and might accompany her to parties so that she&#8217;d have someone interesting to talk to.
