Democrat strategist James Carville told young Democrats to get over themselves in response to a leftist contestant on a reality TV show who broke things off with her partner because he was not progressive enough for her.
Carville responded to a scene from Netflix&#8217;s reality dating show &#8220;Love is Blind&#8221; where contestant Sara Carton broke off her relationship with Ben Mezzenga because of his politics.
“I remember I asked him about Black Lives Matter,” Carton said. “And I’m no expert. But when I asked him about it, he’s like, ‘I guess I never really thought too much about it.’ That affected me!”
Carville responded in an interview with Fox News: &#8220;Get over your preening and your moral superiority.&#8221;
&#8220;And the more pragmatic in how you approach life, you&#8217;ll end up being a lot happier, and you&#8217;ll actually win an election,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And therefore, you can actually do things, and you could do some of the things that you want, because if you lose, it doesn&#8217;t do any good. It&#8217;s about nothing. That&#8217;s what I would tell them.&#8221;

Carville cracked some light humor while talking about his experiences dating.

Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville predicted on Monday that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk  — because of the work he is doing with the blessing of President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration — would drive more Democrat voters to the polls than even former President Barack Obama did.
Carville joined NewsNation host Chris Cuomo to discuss his recent prediction about the Trump administration — made during an interview with Mediaite founder Dan Abrams —  namely, that it was on the brink of collapse and things would begin to fall apart in the next four to six weeks.

Carville began with the economy, arguing that persistent inflation and the coming budget fight would sour voters on Trump.
&#8220;Literally every Western democracy government has failed because of inflation. So I place a lot of stock on that. The trend is going the wrong way. But the real thing here, Chris, is the calendar,&#8221; Carville said. &#8220;And what I’m asking Democrats to do is remember, I think it was Harold Macmillan, might have been Harold Wilson said, ‘Events, my dear boy, events.’ So they have to produce a budget by March the 14th. They have to go through reconciliation. They can’t not do it. They have to extend the debt limit.&#8221;
&#8220;Let the ball come to you. Then throw it. The ball is coming to us,&#8221; Carville continued. &#8220;And the other thing I place a lot of stock in are these organic town halls. These are not being organized by Democratic interest groups. These are not being organized by the DNC. These are just people coming up and saying, we don’t like this at all. And you’re seeing it and as you point out, very smartly in Georgia and Wisconsin and Oregon, I saw something even in Idaho, you know, when you start to lose Idaho, you got some problems.&#8221;
Carville then turned to address Musk — and the efforts being made by the Department Of Government Efficiency project — and said that people angry about what Musk and DOGE were doing would come out in force at the next election.
&#8220;So I think we just have to play possum for a little while. Just let them keep coming. And Musk will turn out, if they keep him, he will be the greatest generator — let me say this very specifically — the greatest generator of Democratic turnout ever, more than Barack Obama. Musk will turn out more Democrats than Obama,&#8221; Carville predicted.

Joy Reid is apparently losing her show at MSNBC and leaving the network completely.
But MSNBC insists they are going to continue with their leftist views. They are not going to move toward the center. Genius-level ideas from the leadership over at MSNBC.
They are reportedly going to move Jen Psaki, former White House press secretary to Joe Biden, to anchor one of the primetime hours during the week. She could be named anchor of MSNBC&#8217;s 9 p.m. hour, where Rachel Maddow is currently holding court. Joy Reid is apparently going to be replaced by Symone Sanders-Townsend, who was a press secretary for Bernie Sanders before being a press secretary for Kamala Harris; Michael Steele, the former RNC chairman who has moved far to the Left; and Alicia Menendez. The leadership over at MSNBC suggests they are going to add Politico&#8217;s Eugene Daniels and NYU law professor Melissa Murray to the network&#8217;s lineup as well.
So they are continuing to move over to the Left. This reflects a serious problem in the Democratic Party: They do not know which way to move. They are stuck because of identity politics and, largely, because of immigration. They are now stuck in a rut of their own making, and it is very difficult to break out of that rut.
As a result, Democrats are thrashing against the box of reality. Former Bill Clinton pollster Mark Penn points out the Democratic Party is more unpopular than they&#8217;ve been any time in his lifetime, <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/former-clinton-pollster-tells-fox-news-democratic-party-support-is-at-record-low-and-falling-off-a-cliff/">saying</a>, “I have never seen anything like this. This is a record low for the Democratic Party in terms of favorability.”
Democrats are trying to figure out exactly to whom they should turn in the wake of Donald Trump&#8217;s victory and the fact that he&#8217;s now steamrolling through his agenda. Do they turn back to the supposedly moderate types, the Joe Biden types? Or should they double down on Kamala Harris, who is still wandering the landscape.
Democrats themselves are torn as to how to approach the Trump administration. On the one hand, they want to go back to resistance-style anger. They want to just scream at the wind — a lot. The problem for them is that they can&#8217;t find a point of consolidation because much of what Trump is doing right now is quite popular.

So, they&#8217;re stuck in a weird in-between. On the one hand, they want to preach that Trump is non-empathetic and more empathy is needed.
But people don&#8217;t see the Democrats as empathetic.
At a town hall event in Roswell, Georgia, a Democrat woman went on a rant over the weekend that got a lot of attention from the Left. She <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/news/town-hall-erupts-at-blistering-anti-trump-rant-torching-tyranny-gets-standing-ovation-in-trump-district/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blustered</a>:
<blockquote>It&#8217;s clear from all the writings of our founding fathers that our great republic was never meant to be ruled by a dictator nor a king. It’s clear from all the writings of our Founding Fathers that our great Republic was never meant to be ruled by a dictator, nor a king. … So you can imagine my shock and pure horror when I woke up to find that our president had given himself unprecedented executive powers, and then, within a few days, named himself King to his followers. … Tyranny is rising in the white House, and a man has declared himself our king. So I would like to know. Rather the people would like to know what you, congressman, and your fellow congressman are going to do to rein in the megalomaniac in the White House.</blockquote>
All of this rings hollow. It is sound and fury signifying almost nothing at this point because the Democratic Party does not know what it stands for. On the one hand, they want to say they are for everyone. On the other hand, they want to push identity politics. On the one hand, they want to talk about no dictatorship. On the other hand, they want government to control every part of Americans’ lives. On the one hand, they want to rave that Trump is breaking down foreign policy. On the other hand, they want to surrender almost everywhere.
So which is it?
In the end, the answer is that, for Democrats, their future hinges on one thing: Trump&#8217;s failure. If Trump fails, they win.
It&#8217;s that simple. They don&#8217;t have anything else. Their only point of consolidation is if Trump and his administration fail at making America succeed. That is the only way that they have a pathway back to power.
Democrats are betting that it&#8217;s all going to fall apart for President Trump. And massive collapse doesn&#8217;t appear to be on the horizon — unless there is some sort of serious economic problem. And that is why the central focus of the Trump administration right now must be on bringing down inflation; it must be on economic growth. That&#8217;s what the central focus has to be.
Yes, we want to see President Trump keep all of his promises — and he will with regard to immigration. Sure, we would like to see President Trump bring an end to the war in Ukraine in a reasonable fashion.
But the thing that Americans care most about — and this is always true — is their economic well-being. We have a real estate bubble because fewer people are selling their homes and demand has remained. We have a stock market bubble which is likely to break at some point. These are the worries the Trump administration has to deal with.
Inflation is driving both of those things because the currency was wildly inflated over the course of Biden&#8217;s tenure. Inflation remains at 3% right now, which is 50% higher than the Federal Reserve generally prefers. That means interest rates are unlikely to come down, which means it will be tough to get a loan. At the same time, someone who has a loan will not want to spend their money on inflated assets.
This is a bit of a sticky patch for the American economy. Productivity gains will help; more competition, less regulation, more investment in newer things will help.
But DOGE alone is not going to solve these fiscal problems.
It&#8217;s very good to talk about waste, fraud, and abuse, but those three elements amount to a negligible percentage of actual federal spending.
To unshackle the economy and see productivity gains, business growth, and an economic boom, the kinds of programs that no one is politically willing to target must be targeted.
The single most important op-ed of the last five years was <a href="https://www.wsj.com/opinion/welfare-is-whats-eating-the-budget-10c9d093?mod=e2two" target="_blank" rel="noopener">penned</a> by House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington and former U.S. Senator Phil Gramm in September of last year. In it, they discussed what is actually driving America&#8217;s systemic national debt. The actual systemic drivers of the debt, as Arrington and Phil Gramm pointed out, are in the means-tested social welfare spending programs — precisely the things that neither party actually wants to touch, such as Medicaid, food stamps, refundable tax credits, Supplemental Security Income, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, federal housing subsidies, and almost 100 other programs.
What&#8217;s actually to bring long-lasting success is not going to be cutting around the edges. It&#8217;s not going to be posturing. What&#8217;s actually to bring long-lasting success is what is most politically difficult.
But if nobody&#8217;s willing to do it, then basically we&#8217;re just going to end up in a leftist populist horseshoe where, despite all the talk about innovation, government just continues to grow and gobble up an increasing portion of Americans’ earnings and savings where a smaller and smaller percentage of the population is actually working while the government continues to spiral out of control in terms of growth. And productivity does not actually outpace all of the spending of government and the taxation of government.
That is the problem President Trump is facing.
The easy route for Democrats to take when things fall down because of all these giant programs that they themselves have enshrined is just to claim that capitalism failed.
At some point, Congress, particularly, is going to have to stand up and President Trump is going to have to start pushing for some real systemic change on the regulatory side.
He&#8217;s going to have to push for some real systemic change when it comes to these means-tested welfare programs.
If the premise of the current American political moment is that we are in a moment of scarcity with scarce resources, that we are in danger of being out-produced by countries like China, that the American budget is too large, that our tax burden is too high, and that we&#8217;re spending too much money, then we have to look at the right places. Looking at the wrong places does not lead to solving the problem, and then things will go from bad to worse.
And that’s the only hope Democrats have.

Abrams began the conversation, noting that Democrats had been playing into the hands of conservative media outlets by reacting to every appointment, every executive order, as though they would be the end of democracy as Americans know it.
&#8220;So you got a lot of Democrats who have been sort of yelling and screaming about a lot of these nominations, and in some cases, I think rightly so. And in other cases, I think it’s a little bit been a bit overwrought,&#8221; Abrams said. &#8220;But, you know, it seems that the angrier Democrats get, the more it feeds into exactly what Donald Trump and Elon Musk and some of these other folks want – meaning Fox News plays sound bites of Democrats heads exploding as sort of sport.&#8221;
Carville said the obvious solution was for Democrats to back off: &#8220;What I have said very publicly is that Democrats need to play possum. This whole thing is collapsing. It doesn’t need Elizabeth Warren and somebody screaming to pacify some progressive advocacy groups in Washington, which, by the way, I wish these people were just useless. They’re actually worse than useless, that they’re detrimental. And they never, ever learn to shut up.&#8221;
&#8220;And so then this is what I believe. I believe that this administration, in less than 30 days is in the midst of a massive collapse and particularly a collapse in public opinion,&#8221; Carville said, adding that for Democrats, it would be &#8220;easy pickings here in six weeks. Just lay back.&#8221;
Abrams pressed Carville on the matter, and he doubled down, arguing that in a month or so, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) would be looking across the aisle for support from Democrats because Trump&#8217;s agenda had lost the support of his own party.
&#8220;We’re in the midst of a collapse. It’s over,&#8221; Carville assured him.

Hunt said that he &#8220;really has no role to play in the national dialogue,&#8221; and would be better served to simply step back from the spotlight and focus on raising money to build a library.
Carville took that a step further, saying that if Biden did insist on playing a role in public politics moving forward, that it would be a negative role.

“The resistance is going to have trouble raising money. These fundraisers are burnt,” Carville said during his podcast “Politics War Room”.

He said that he has heard from his sources that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) will be conducting stricter audits to tighten down on wasteful spending.
“I have people that are contacting me to run for DNC chair — promise you I’m not going to to get in the middle of that … But I would say the policy, number one, is we’re going to audit everything,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We’re going to audit the campaign. We’re going to audit Future Forward. We’re going to audit the DNC so people can know.&#8221;
Carville said that the Harris campaign raised $1.5 billion and the super PAC backing her, Future Forward, had raised nearly a billion.
&#8220;That’s two and a half freaking billion dollars,&#8221; he said. “I promise you this: the amount of money and the amount of lobbyists that were involved in this campaign is staggering.&#8221;

Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville absolutely unloaded on his party after the news broke that Republicans had managed to retain control of a majority of seats in the House of Representatives, securing a trifecta in the 2024 general election.
In a video made for broadcast at Politicon, Carville told Democrats that they needed to account for their failures in 2024 — and explain to constituents and donors what they would do differently going forward — if they wanted to be taken seriously.

He concluded by labeling the Democratic Party&#8217;s current phase of development as &#8220;the entire era of Jacka**ery.&#8221;

Democratic strategist James Carville said that he has descended into a &#8220;very, very dark tunnel&#8221; in the aftermath of Tuesday&#8217;s presidential election, suggesting that the American people were, at best, too gullible — and at worst, too stupid — to see through the &#8220;s***&#8221; and vote against former President Donald Trump.
Carville made the comments in a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMZSDOAtNX8">video</a> published for Politicon on Thursday, and he argued that Vice President Kamala Harris had &#8220;every advantage&#8221; — from campaign cash and celebrity endorsements to vocal support from popular former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton — but that at the end of the day, it had simply not been enough to get her across the finish line.

Carville went on to suggest that the American people had weighed the costs and ultimately decided it was worth voting for a &#8220;felonious bigot&#8221; if the trade-off gave them something they wanted: namely, order.
&#8220;We had every advantage, but we had the perception of disorder on every kind of level, border policy, foreign policy, economic policy. At the end of the day, it seems to me that the operative word here is that people want order and will pay anything to have order,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;I’ll snap out of it, but I’m in a very, very dark tunnel right now,&#8221; Carville added.

Carville argued that because Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler had given a speech in 1939 — just months prior to his September 1939 invasion of Poland — that meant that Trump could not possibly be holding a rally at the same location prior to the election for any reason other than to telegraph to his supporters that he planned to &#8220;institute a fascist regime&#8221; in the United States.
&#8220;They&#8217;re telling you, &#8216;We&#8217;re going to institute a fascist regime&#8217; and the press and all the Alan Dershowitz wannabes out there say, &#8216;But James. she should have gone to the Al Smith dinner,'&#8221; Carville complained. &#8220;Or, &#8216;really, she doesn&#8217;t do enough long-form interviews.&#8217; I&#8217;m so sick of these people, the entire Constitution is in jeopardy.&#8221;
He concluded by claiming that because of its ruling on presidential immunity, the Supreme Court — specifically Justice Clarence Thomas — had &#8220;green-lighted&#8221; Trump&#8217;s alleged plan to <a href="https://x.com/InsideWithPsaki/status/1845507680539926595" target="_blank" rel="noopener">round people up</a> and use the military to do it. He even went so far as to suggest that Trump would target young black men and round them up first.

Democratic strategist James Carville said on Wednesday night that he&#8217;s &#8220;scared to death&#8221; about Election Day, warning that Vice President Kamala Harris is running out of time to &#8220;get a message out.&#8221;
Carville appeared on Ari Melber&#8217;s MSNBC show to discuss the state of the 2024 race with less than four weeks remaining. The former Bill Clinton adviser said the Harris campaign has &#8220;under 20 days&#8221; to &#8220;really get a message out,&#8221; adding that he&#8217;s &#8220;very, very concerned&#8221; as Harris heads into the final stretch of the campaign, Mediaite <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/james-carville-scared-to-death-about-election-day-kamala-harris-needs-to-get-aggressive/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Asked by Melber what he thinks Harris needs to do in the campaign&#8217;s final month, Carville replied, &#8220;She doesn’t have a month left. We’ve got 26 days. Today is gone. You’re going to lose four to the hurricane. Just subtract that. We’re going to get blank — you’re not going to get much out for the next four days. And everything, kind of, shuts down the Saturday before the election, so you’re really probably under 20 days that you have to really get a message out.”
“They need to be sharp. They need to be aggressive. They need to stop answering questions and start asking questions,&#8221; Carville added. &#8220;They’re doing all this and sitting down with &#8217;60 Minutes&#8217; and sitting down with [Stephen] Colbert &#8230; no matter what, if I come on your show, you will ask me the questions. If I have a press conference, I get to ask the questions.”
The Democratic strategist also said he&#8217;s frustrated with what he sees as a missed opportunity for the Harris campaign to challenge the Trump running mate JD Vance&#8217;s argument that the former president &#8220;saved Obamacare.&#8221;
&#8220;I would put President Obama out to make that [challenge]. &#8230; He only is the author, the father of 23 million people having insurance,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I would have President Clinton going on these local TV stations talking about how tariffs are going to destroy the economy of Wisconsin or Michigan.&#8221;

&#8220;But we’re just letting that go,&#8221; Carville said. &#8220;And I think she and the whole campaign need to be much more aggressive and much less passive than they are.&#8221;
Trump has recently started to pull ahead of Harris in the polls in vital battleground states, leading the Democrat in five out of the seven battleground states as of Thursday morning, according to <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/elections/president/2024/battleground-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RealClearPolitics</a>.
Harris, meanwhile, has been blasted for comments she made during interviews earlier this week with &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; and &#8220;The View.&#8221; During her interview with &#8220;60 Minutes,&#8221; Harris <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-repeatedly-refuses-to-say-it-was-a-mistake-to-allow-illegal-aliens-to-flood-into-u-s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dodged</a> answering questions on the border crisis that has skyrocketed under the Biden-Harris administration. Harris was also slammed after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-view-tees-kamala-up-to-explain-how-shell-be-different-from-biden-and-she-still-fails" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a> on &#8220;The View&#8221; that &#8220;nothing comes to mind&#8221; when she was asked about what she would have done anything differently than President Biden.

Democrat strategist James Carville, who served as the top political adviser for former President Bill Clinton&#8217;s 1992 campaign, said this week that President Joe Biden needs to &#8220;get out the way&#8221; and let someone else be the party&#8217;s nominee this fall.
Carville made the remarks during a Monday interview with CNN&#8217;s Jake Tapper while discussing Biden&#8217;s disastrous debate performance last week against former President Donald Trump.
&#8220;We have a country that 72 percent want something different,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If the Democratic Party can&#8217;t produce something different that 72 percent of people want, then why do we exist? What are we here for? I mean, the country is clamoring for change and what are we going to offer them? The same stuff? It doesn&#8217;t make any sense.&#8221;
&#8220;I don&#8217;t take any pleasure in this,&#8221; he added. &#8220;I&#8217;m going to be 80 in October. You can&#8217;t fight this stuff. It&#8217;s just there.&#8221;
When asked what Democrats should do, Carville responded: &#8220;Something different. I don&#8217;t know. It&#8217;ll be messy. It&#8217;ll be &#8212; it&#8217;ll be a mess. You know, that&#8217;s where change is. But if the Democratic Party is so committed to the status quo, and so committed to sticking with something that three-quarters of the country doesn&#8217;t want, then we have to say, &#8216;why do we exist? What are we here for?'&#8221;
&#8220;If we can&#8217;t bring something that people want, I have to doubt our rationale for being here,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I really do.&#8221;
He said Democrats should not be fighting the &#8220;inevitable desire&#8221; to replace Biden on the ticket: &#8220;Get out the way and let a thousand flowers bloom.&#8221;
He said all the excuses Biden&#8217;s team made for his poor debate performance were &#8220;nonsense.&#8221;
