In the final minutes of his presidency, Joe Biden shocked the political world by issuing preemptive pardons for several of his own family members. The move has sparked outrage on both sides of the aisle – and sparked renewed calls for investigations into Biden family corruption. Morning Wire sat down with bestselling author Peter Schweizer to discuss the unprecedented Biden family pardons – and Republicans’ plans to follow the money.
JOHN: Joining us now is Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute and bestselling author of multiple books that address allegations of Biden family corruption. Peter, always great to talk with you, thanks for coming on.
PETER: Of course. Happy to be with you.
JOHN: We witnessed something this week that Joe Biden repeatedly told the American people he would never do – he preemptively pardoned members of his own family. Five of them. This comes after he did something else he swore he wouldn’t do, pardoned his son Hunter. So first, we hear the term “unprecedented” thrown around a lot. Is this unprecedented?
PETER: Yeah, there&#8217;s no example in American history of a family member of a sitting president being pardoned – no less five members of the family, or six if you include Hunter. Also, these sort of preemptive pardons are really unprecedented, and they will probably be tested in court.
JOHN: I would assume so. Now we’ve covered the Hunter pardon at length here – in fact, we had you on to talk about it at one point. We now have five more members of the Biden family. And again, like you said, these are preemptive pardons so different in kind. First, who exactly did he grant this blanket immunity to?
PETER: These are essentially his siblings and their spouses, and his son and his daughter. And what&#8217;s significant is all six of these people are individuals who are connected to LLCs, these limited liability companies that the family had multiple listings of. These are all entities that received money from foreign entities. It&#8217;s also important to point out, John, that each one of these pardons, whether it&#8217;s Hunter or the other five family members, the pardon specifically mentions any crimes that occurred beginning after January 1, 2014. That&#8217;s significant because all of the foreign deals – those involving China, Ukraine, and Russia – all started happening in early 2014, so they clearly seem to be dated and designed to cover the transfers of those foreign deals.
JOHN: Yeah, pretty revealing. Had the names of these particular members come up in investigations or claims by members of Congress?
PETER: Yes, in fact they had. James Comer (R-KY) mentioned all of them, I think. Comer actually has <a href="https://www.amazon.com/All-Presidents-Money-Investigating-Foreign/dp/0063420015">a new book</a> out, which is quite good by the way, where he mentions all of them. And I think there is a connection there. I think the fact that these are in the sights of congressional investigators is probably one of the things that prompted Joe Biden to issue this action. Keep in mind that this also, in a way, provides some protection of Joe Biden , because if you do believe this was an influence-peddling scheme, Joe Biden was certainly involved. And by pardoning his spouses and his children, it provides a guardrail of protection for him as well. So this is self-serving, not just something beneficial to his family.

JOHN: You&#8217;ve been documenting for years the allegations of Biden family corruption. What is some of the more compelling evidence against them?
PETER: Well, I think the most compelling evidence is that they have collected tens of millions of dollars, some $31 million from these foreign entities, and there&#8217;s no evidence of them giving anything legitimate in return. In the case of China, for example, we know that they got $5 million from a Chinese businessman named Mr Zhao. There&#8217;s no evidence that anything was given to him in return of a business nature – and people generally don&#8217;t pass around $5 million without expecting something in return. That has always been the mystery. And the fact that the Bidens have A) denied that there was any money transference, and of course there was. And then B) they denied that Joe Biden was aware of this or involved. We now know that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/america-first-legal-new-photos-allegedly-prove-biden-muddied-vp-duties-and-hunters-business-deals">he met with several of these people</a>, which makes it very clear that they were trying to cover something up. What Joe Biden did specifically in return for those funds, we don&#8217;t know. But that&#8217;s why I think we need to have continued congressional investigations. It&#8217;s not about looking in the past and trying to punish a political opponent. It&#8217;s about trying to unpack exactly what was done for this money, so we can deter it from happening in the future with other political figures.

JOHN: Right, you bring up investigations. First of all, are Biden’s family members now truly immune from all charges that have any connection to this? And can Congress still investigate them? Does this block actual thorough investigations?
PETER: Those are great questions. Well, it&#8217;s going to be challenged in court. A lot of people question whether you can grant pardon for a crime that may or may not have been committed that you haven&#8217;t been charged for. That has never been done before, and there are a lot of legal scholars who say this just simply is too broad because you could essentially, under this construct, provide blanket immunity for a murder that was not discovered until later on, and that seems overly broad. As far as congressional investigations are concerned, absolutely they can continue to investigate. Jim Comer (R-KY), I talked to him a couple of days ago, and he told me he has advised the incoming Attorney General, Pam Bondi, that he believes that the Department of Justice needs to investigate this. You can do a criminal investigation, even if you&#8217;re not targeting the specific family member. I think Congress needs to investigate it because, again, it&#8217;s not just about what the Bidens did. One of the true things about Washington DC is, if people in power figure out a way to make money for their family, and they&#8217;re not going to be caught, they&#8217;re not going to be held liable, it will be imitated. So this notion of getting foreign entities to enrich your family when you&#8217;re a decision maker in a position to help or hurt them could become widespread, and I don&#8217;t think anybody wants that.
JOHN: There&#8217;s been a lot made of Trump coming in with retribution on his mind, but the argument that we are maybe exposed to national security risks from foreign entities that might have their hands in the pockets of people who have a lot of power – I would think that argument would win the day. You&#8217;ve mentioned maybe that these preemptive pardons might just collapse legally. Is there any other way to override or work around a presidential pardon of this nature?
PETER: Well, some people, like professor Alan Dershowitz – a Professor of Law, Emeritus, at Harvard – has said that these pardons actually create problems for the Biden family, because now when you are asked questions by a congressional committee or by Department of Justice lawyers, you cannot plead the Fifth Amendment – because, of course, the Fifth Amendment prevents you from self-incrimination. Now, if you are exempt from being prosecuted for these crimes, you presumably cannot plead the Fifth Amendment. So it may actually make things harder for the family in terms of actually having to answer questions. But the key thing is those questions have to be asked. The Department of Justice, under Pam Bondi, who I think is going to be confirmed, and by the Congressional Oversight Committees, need to proceed. This is not about retribution; it&#8217;s not about being vindictive. That certainly seems to be what people have accused Trump of doing. But if you look at his first term as president, he certainly did not prosecute Hillary Clinton or anyone else. And there&#8217;s no reason to believe that that would be taking place here. It&#8217;s simply trying to get clarification and facts of what actually transpired and what these Chinese, Russian, and Ukrainian entities actually got in exchange for sending millions of dollars to Joe Biden&#8217;s family.

JOHN: You bring up Pam Bondi. Judging by the Cabinet picks so far from Trump, what is the sense you get about the priority he&#8217;s laid out of weeding out government corruption. Do you feel that they&#8217;re fully invested in this project?
PETER: I think that&#8217;s going to be the central question, John, going forward, because you have these large institutions – the Department of Defense, for example, or the CIA – there&#8217;s a reason people call them “the deep state” because they&#8217;re deeply embedded within those bureaucracies. So you&#8217;re going to have somebody who is confirmed as the SECDEF or as the CIA director who&#8217;s going to be having to deal with bureaucracies that are trying to counteract what you&#8217;re doing. It&#8217;s very hard to fight that kind of trench warfare at the same time you&#8217;re carrying out policies to deal with, say, the threat from China, the threat from Russia. So, that is going to be the defining issue. But I think it is the battle that has to be fought because it comes down to the question of: Are we actually governed by the people we elect, that we have chosen to represent us? Or are government decisions being made by unelected bureaucrats? And are those unelected bureaucrats involved at some level in corruption? And I think the history of our country demonstrates that absolutely they are. So, to me, this is the marquee issue, and it&#8217;s a reflection of this broader concern that I have of what I call “the globalization of corruption.” When we think of corruption, we think of the guy who&#8217;s got a paving business back in some congressional district who wants some federal highway dollars steered his way by the congressman. What we&#8217;re talking about now are foreign governments, in some cases those that are hostile to the United States, giving money to our elected officials and getting something in return. So, this is not just rank and file corruption, which is bad enough. This is globalized corruption – and it&#8217;s only going to get worse, not better, unless we actually do something about it.
JOHN: I think you’re right. What do you expect to see in the coming weeks and months from the White House and the Republican-led Congress related to Biden family corruption and other sort of government level corruption issues?
PETER: Well, I think on Capitol Hill, the House Oversight Committee’s Jim Comer I think has done an excellent job. He&#8217;s fact-based, he&#8217;s driven, and he&#8217;s prepared to name names, which is the key in the investigation. So I expect a lot of activities in the House of Representatives. And I think in the Department of Justice, in the next several weeks, you&#8217;re going to see a series of reviews done by senior attorneys at DOJ under Pam Bondi making decisions about some of the very controversial things that have happened with regard to, say, Tony Fauci, who apparently lied before Congressional committees when he testified. What is the legal standard for lying before Congress? Did he cross that line? And is there a reason to open an investigation and to bring him in to ask him questions about that? So, I think there&#8217;s going to be a little bit of quiet before the storm because, again, when you&#8217;re dealing with these legal matters, you want to make sure that you are crossing all the T&#8217;s and dotting the I&#8217;s – because what gets you into trouble is when you don&#8217;t do the prep work, and Bondi certainly has a reputation for doing her prep work.

JOHN: Yes, I think there’s no arguing that she’s someone who comes prepared. Final question: What do you expect from the Biden family? Will they withdraw from public life or try to stay politically relevant?
PETER: Well, I think one of the unanswered questions about the Biden family, and again, if you look at the pardons that were issued to Hunter Biden and the family, they run up specifically through December of last year. So any crimes that would have been committed in 2024 would be covered as well. And you wonder, well, what does that mean? Well, that could be the Hunter Biden art deals that were very controversial. But I also think it&#8217;s worth looking at this period when Joe Biden had that disastrous debate performance with Donald Trump, and he spent about four or five weeks refusing to get out of the race, and Hunter Biden moved into the White House. I believe – I don&#8217;t have evidence to confirm this – I believe that the Biden family negotiated financial deals to secure his exit from that race. Whether that crosses the legal line and is illegal, I don&#8217;t know, but I think that is worth looking into as well. It certainly fits their pattern of monetizing things. It certainly makes sense that Hunter Biden was at the center of it – that&#8217;s where a lot of this money would flow through. And that would of course raise questions about what they might be doing in the post-presidential years and the money they might be living off of in this case.
JOHN: Intriguing questions – and hopefully we do get some answers and Congress does pursue what I think the American people deserve to know has actually happened here. Peter, thank you so much for joining us.

President Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter for his involvement in shady business deals, but the president’s own brother, Jim, was involved in many of those same deals.
Joe pardoned Hunter on Sunday for any crimes “he has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014, through December 1, 2024, including but not limited to all offenses charged or prosecuted (including any that have resulted in convictions).”
The pardon dates back to 2014 – when Joe Biden was vice president of the United States – which might lead one to question whether there is another Biden family member who could be in legal jeopardy.
In April 2014, Hunter was appointed to the board of a Ukrainian energy company despite having no qualifications. Even before that, however, Hunter was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/joe-bidens-son-partnered-some-interesting-people-ashe-schow" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> involved in business dealings with China. In 2017, Hunter and Joe’s brother James were pursuing a deal with a Chinese energy company, CEFC China Energy, along with a business associate, Tony Bobulinski.

James was referred for criminal prosecution over his alleged lying about his involvement in this deal, The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-and-james-biden-referred-by-congress-for-criminal-prosecution-over-provably-false-statements" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. James was interviewed during an impeachment inquiry and reportedly lied to investigators, according to the House Republican’s referral.
“With respect to James Biden, he stated unequivocally during his transcribed interview that Joe Biden did not meet with Mr. Tony Bobulinski, a business associate of James and Hunter Biden, in 2017 while pursuing a deal with a Chinese entity, CEFC China Energy,” the referral letter said. “Specifically, James Biden stated he did not attend a meeting with Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and Tony Bobulinski on May 2, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. These statements were contradicted not only by Mr. Bobulinski, but Hunter Biden. Mr. Bobulinski also produced text messages that establish the events leading up to and immediately following his meeting with Joe Biden on May 2, 2017.”
In 2022, it was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-son-brother-had-150-transactions-involving-global-business-flagged-as-concerning-by-u-s-banks-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Hunter and James had more than 150 transactions involving their global business dealings that were flagged as concerning by U.S. banks. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) <a href="https://x.com/C__Herridge/status/1511849541783683075?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1511849541783683075%7Ctwgr%5Ed9539c4668a0b967ecf3986e5e237107c901c3fb%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2Fbiden-son-brother-had-150-transactions-involving-global-business-flagged-as-concerning-by-u-s-banks-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> CBS News at the time that he believed James was heavily involved in Hunter’s business ventures in China, telling the outlet, “I think James Biden was very much a part of this.”
Though Grassley wouldn’t say that the Bidens had committed any crimes by receiving millions of dollars from China, he did find it “very concerning.”
“We have people with the Biden name, dealing with Chinese business people that have a relationship to the Communist Party,” Grassley said at the time.
The bank records were part of a years-long investigation into Hunter and James’ business records – an investigation that began in 2014.
Hunter is set to be sentenced for federal gun crimes, which is likely why he was pardoned on Sunday by his father. James Biden isn’t facing imminent prosecution or sentencing, so President Biden could wait before issuing a similar pardon for his brother.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/house-republicans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Republicans</a> referred two members of President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a>&#8216;s family — his son <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hunter-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hunter Biden</a> and brother <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/james-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Biden</a> — for criminal prosecution on Wednesday over allegations that they lied while testifying as part of the corruption-focused <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/impeachment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">impeachment</a> inquiry into the commander in chief.
A <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2024/06/Criminal-Referral-6.5.24.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> sent to Attorney General <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/merrick-garland" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Merrick Garland</a> and special counsel David Weiss recommended that both Biden family members be charged with making false statements and Hunter Biden also get charged with perjury. Hunter Biden and James Biden &#8220;made provably false statements &#8230; about key aspects of the impeachment inquiry, in what appears to be a conscious effort to hinder the investigation’s focus on President Joe Biden,&#8221; wrote Oversight Chairman <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/james-comer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Comer</a> (R-KY), who was joined by Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO).
Millions of dollars made by Biden family members and their companies have spurred concerns about potential influence-peddling schemes involving Joe Biden dating back to when he served as vice president. As part of the impeachment inquiry, the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees conducted a transcribed interview with James Biden on February 21. Hunter Biden, who like James Biden was subpoenaed to testify, appeared on February 28 for a deposition in which he testified under oath. Both men, who had counsel with them, have denied President Biden benefited from their work.
It remains to be seen whether either Biden gets charged for their testimony. A criminal referral from Congress does not compel federal prosecutors to open a case. After Smith <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-house-republican-accuses-hunter-biden-of-lying-to-congress" target="_blank" rel="noopener">publicly accused</a> Hunter Biden of lying to Congress last month, Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell responded, &#8220;Here they go again, grasping at straws and twisting Hunter’s testimony to try to revive an impeachment inquiry that was a complete and utter failure.&#8221;
The letter from the impeachment leaders to Department of Justice officials on Wednesday describes three instances, two involving Hunter Biden and one focused on James Biden, in which the lawmakers have centered their claims that the witnesses were less than truthful during their testimony.
&#8220;Specifically, Hunter Biden falsely distanced himself from a corporate entity — Rosemont Seneca Bohai, LLC — and its bank account (Rosemont Seneca Bohai Bank Account) that was the recipient of millions of dollars from foreign individuals and foreign entities who met with then-Vice President Biden before and after transmitting money to the Rosemont Seneca Bohai Bank Account that then transferred funds to Hunter Biden,&#8221; the letter stated.
&#8220;Hunter Biden made additional false statements as to whether he held positions at Rosemont Seneca Bohai, LLC,&#8221; the letter added. &#8220;After deposing Hunter Biden, the Committees obtained documents showing Hunter Biden represented that he was the corporate secretary. Additionally, Hunter Biden during his testimony relayed an entirely fictitious account about threatening text messages he sent to his Chinese business partner while invoking his father’s presence with him as he wrote the messages. Hunter Biden told the Oversight Committee and the Judiciary Committee he had transmitted this threat to an unrelated individual with the same surname. However, documents released by the Committee on Ways and Means demonstrate conclusively that Hunter Biden made this threat to the intended individual, and bank records prove Hunter Biden’s Chinese business partners wired millions of dollars to him after his threat. A portion of the proceeds has been traced to Joe Biden’s bank account.&#8221;
The letter provides an explanation of the alleged false statements by James Biden in relation to his dealings with Tony Bobulinski, who also testified for the impeachment inquiry. Bobulinski made a public hearing appearance in March <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/impeachment-witness-tony-bobulinski-claims-hunter-and-james-biden-perjured-themselves" target="_blank" rel="noopener">during which he accused</a> Hunter Biden and James Biden of perjuring themselves. Hunter Biden has said that he did not find Bobulinski to be &#8220;credible.&#8221; Jim Biden said in his interview that he was not “fond” of Bobulinski and responded “yes” when asked if he would describe Bobulinski as a “bully” during an exchange about their ill-fated team-up.

&#8220;With respect to James Biden, he stated unequivocally during his transcribed interview that Joe Biden did not meet with Mr. Tony Bobulinski, a business associate of James and Hunter Biden, in 2017 while pursuing a deal with a Chinese entity, CEFC China Energy,&#8221; said the letter from the impeachment investigators. &#8220;Specifically, James Biden stated he did not attend a meeting with Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and Tony Bobulinski on May 2, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. These statements were contradicted not only by Mr. Bobulinski, but Hunter Biden. Mr. Bobulinski also produced text messages that establish the events leading up to and immediately following his meeting with Joe Biden on May 2, 2017.&#8221;
Hunter Biden is already facing two criminal cases led by Weiss that could result in prison time. The first son has pleaded not guilty to gun charges in a case set in Delaware and tax charges in California. In a sign of life for the corruption-focused <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/impeachment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">impeachment</a> inquiry, a top House Republican investigator said on Thursday that he issued a new subpoena that seeks bank records tied to members of President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a>&#8216;s family.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY), who is leading the probe, announced the development in an interview on <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/comer-announces-new-subpoena-biden-family-probe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox Business</a> but declined to share the target of the subpoena.
&#8220;This morning, I issued a subpoena, for targeted financial information from a certain financial institution related to Jim Biden, Sarah Biden and Hunter Biden,&#8221; Comer said.
&#8220;This is a result of, many of the documents that Devin Archer turned over,&#8221; Comer continued, referring to a Biden family business partner who told congressional investigators how the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/intimidated-biden-brand-helped-ukrainian-company-survive-hunters-ex-associate-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden &#8220;brand&#8221;</a> helped the president&#8217;s family do business abroad.
Jim Biden, who also goes by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/james-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Biden</a>, is the younger brother of the president. He recently came up in a POLITICO report that alleged he was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-gop-raises-alarm-over-biden-familys-alleged-business-with-qatari-officials" target="_blank" rel="noopener">doing business with</a> Qatari officials.
Sarah Biden is the wife of Jim Biden, and Hunter Biden is the adult son of President Biden. He is facing two criminal trials over gun and tax charges and is also receiving congressional scrutiny over his foreign business dealings.
In a <a href="https://x.com/RepJamesComer/status/1791077463952384179" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posts</a> to X sharing a clip of the interview, Comer added, &#8220;We know the Biden family set up over 20 shell companies &amp; raked in over $24 million from China, Russia, and other foreign adversaries.&#8221;
He also said, &#8220;Today&#8217;s subpoena will help further expose the Biden family&#8217;s influence peddling schemes, the intentionally complicated web of LLCs formed by the Bidens to enrich themselves, &amp; the central role Joe Biden played in the business dealings.&#8221;

Concluding his comments, published in bold font, Comer <a href="https://x.com/RepJamesComer/status/1791077539965784290" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>: &#8220;Bank records don&#8217;t lie.&#8221;
President Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-declines-invite-to-testify-for-impeachment-inquiry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">turned down</a> an invitation from Comer in April to give testimony for the impeachment inquiry. His special counsel, Richard Sauber, claimed the probe was &#8220;over&#8221; and insisted the oversight panel turned up evidence showing that Biden &#8220;has done nothing wrong.&#8221;
Comer told anchor Maria Bartiromo on Thursday that &#8220;hopefully we can prepare to close this investigation and present our findings to the American people,&#8221; adding that the impeachment inquiry is in its &#8220;final stages.&#8221;

The lead impeachment investigator, Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY), appeared with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6347624091112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">on &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221;</a> for an interview with Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo to provide an update on the corruption-focused impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
Although James Biden <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/21/us/politics/james-biden-business-deals.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denied in his opening statement</a> that Joe Biden had any involvement in his business activities, Comer said two witnesses with business ties to the Biden family, Devon Archer and Tony Bobulinski, and other associates have made claims that clash with what James Biden testified.
&#8220;They all say the same thing, that the Biden family capitalized off of Joe Biden. And with Jim Biden, he said some things that aren&#8217;t consistent with other people who we have interviewed, with other amounts of evidence that we have in the form of text messages and e-mails,&#8221; Comer said. &#8220;And, right now, as we speak, Maria, our staff is going over, reviewing all that to determine whether or not Jim Biden, in fact, told the truth in his transcribed interview.&#8221;
Jordan said his &#8220;big takeaway&#8221; from the deposition with Jim Biden was &#8220;who are you going to believe? Jim Biden, who multiple times has changed his story, Jim Biden, who had multiple business ventures that failed, Jim Biden, who had multiple people he still owes hundreds of thousands of dollars to, or Tony Bobulinski, whose story has not changed, who&#8217;s been a successful business guy, and who came forward and said certain things that Jim Biden just totally disagreed with?&#8221;
He added that Jim Biden said his brother Joe Biden &#8220;never met with Tony Bobulinski. Tony Bobulinski has said that for four years and been forward about that. So I don&#8217;t think Jim Biden was necessarily square with us in this interview. And, as Chairman Comer mentioned, that&#8217;s why the staff is going back through the transcript and figuring out exactly what he said and where that disagrees with what we know to be true.&#8221;

James was questioned for eight hours as part of the impeachment inquiry into whether President Biden was involved in efforts to benefit from his power and influence around the world. The president has repeatedly denied any involvement in his family&#8217;s business dealings, though Republicans have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-biden-threatened-chinese-business-partner-for-payment-i-am-sitting-here-with-my-father" target="_blank" rel="noopener">presented evidence</a> challenging those statements.
&#8220;I have had a 50-year career in a variety of business ventures. Joe Biden has never had any involvement or any direct or indirect financial interest in those activities,&#8221; James <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/02/21/congress/james-biden-interview-00142454" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;None. I never asked my brother to take any official action on behalf of me, my business associates, or anyone else.”
Republicans said that aspects of James’s testimony were contradicted by the evidence presented.
&#8220;Let me say this. So there are a lot of things that Mr. Biden is saying that are directly contradicted by documents,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/james-biden-contradicted-himself-testimony-brothers-involvement-family-business-gop-lawmakers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. 
House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) said he didn’t think James was telling the whole story when denying business ties between the Biden family. 
&#8220;He&#8217;s certainly said some things that make me wonder if he&#8217;s &#8230; maybe conveniently forgetting something? I don&#8217;t know, but some of his answers just don&#8217;t make a whole lot of sense,” Jordan said.

James reportedly said he was not involved in a deal with Hunter and associates Rob Walker, Tony Bobulinski, and James Gilliar. However, a source told Fox News that he was then shown a document showing an agreement he had signed with them, which he claimed he didn’t remember. 
During the interview, James disputed <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/02/18/the-biden-name-how-the-presidents-brother-became-embroiled-in-a-hospital-fiasco-00141868" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> showing that he focused on his relationship with his brother when applying to work for the hospital chain Americore. He <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/02/21/congress/james-biden-interview-00142454" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> his brother “played no role, was not involved with, and received no benefits from my work with Americore.” 
Just days before, POLITICO reported that James had told Americore executives in 2017 that his brother would promote the company during a presidential campaign if the company could successfully expand rural health care. He also reportedly said he wanted to give Joe Biden equity in the company.

House Oversight Committee Chairman <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/james-comer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Comer</a> (R-KY) outlined where the Committee&#8217;s investigations into the Biden family currently stand during an interview this week, saying that they have subpoenaed bank records from President Joe Biden&#8217;s brother, James Biden.
Comer made the remarks during an interview with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast when asked by co-host Ben Ferguson to speak about Biden&#8217;s brother.
Comer said that he believes Biden&#8217;s brother has &#8220;probably committed just as many crimes as Hunter Biden&#8221; and that the only reason there are not more headlines about him is because he didn&#8217;t leave a laptop full of alleged evidence like Hunter Biden did.
&#8220;We&#8217;ve been able to subpoena his bank records,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I can tell you, there&#8217;s a lot of questions we have for James Biden. That&#8217;s why he received a subpoena.&#8221;
Comer said he thinks that James Biden could have potentially committed &#8220;securities fraud&#8221; with his <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/james-biden-settles-loan-lawsuit-tied-to-rural-hospitals-bankruptcy-11664236240" target="_blank" rel="noopener">role</a> at Americore Health LLC.
&#8220;We know from court records, this Americore Health is in federal bankruptcy court,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They obviously have accused Jim Biden of a lot of things so this is all public record. And it shows that it wasn&#8217;t just Hunter Biden, this was the whole Biden family.&#8221;
Comer spoke about all the shell companies that congressional investigators have uncovered that have alleged ties to the Biden family, saying that banks filed suspicious activity reports (SAR) because they recognized that the Biden family was a powerful political family and that &#8220;they&#8217;re getting wires from our enemies around the world.&#8221;
&#8220;So, shell companies, they&#8217;re not real businesses,&#8221; Cruz noted. &#8220;This is not a dry cleaner. This is not a gas station. They&#8217;re no employees, they&#8217;re no paychecks. They&#8217;re not a business in any sense. This is a legal entity, and it&#8217;s a legal entity created to send money to, and it&#8217;s what is often used for money laundering. It&#8217;s what&#8217;s often used to hide the source of the money.&#8221;

Comer said that the Biden family has had &#8220;170 suspicious activity reports&#8221; filed against them, which he called &#8220;unprecedented.&#8221;
&#8220;I was the director of a bank for over a decade, never has anyone received more than one or two that was affiliated with my bank,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And the fact that this family got 170, from six different banks, on dozens of different accounts showed that there&#8217;s something bad going on here, because the banks are notifying the Treasury [that they] believe the vice president&#8217;s family are involved in some type of fraud.&#8221;
Comer then talked about an email that the Committee released last week that &#8220;showed the thought process&#8221; behind a SAR from a bank examiner&#8217;s perspective involving the Biden family.
&#8220;The bank examiner said, wait a minute, you [said] this account is pretty much dormant,&#8221; Comer said. &#8220;We don&#8217;t know what this company is, all we know is that the president&#8217;s son owns it. He got a $5 million wire from China.&#8221;
Apparently the Bidens said that the money was a loan, which the bank found suspicious.
&#8220;No one would loan anyone $5 million without having some type of loan documentation,&#8221; Comer said. &#8220;So, then he said, we fear this could be a bribe, because we know China influences politicians through vulnerable family members. And we&#8217;ve seen in the news where his ex-wife said he was on drugs, he was in financial trouble. We believe this could be a real national security threat. So that&#8217;s as serious of an email I&#8217;ve ever seen from a major bank examiner.&#8221;

By 2008, in the months before Joe Biden was elected vice president, Scruggs and his associates <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/03/business/03scruggs.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pleaded guilty</a> to charges in a scheme to pay a $40,000 bribe to a state judge and they served prison time.
Neither Joe Biden nor James Biden ever faced accusations of wrongdoing or charges in the case, emphasized the report, which relied on interviews, court records, and materials collected by &#8220;<a href="https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/190714/the-fall-of-the-house-of-zeus-by-curtis-wilkie/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Fall of the House of Zeus&#8221;</a> author Curtis Wilkie. The ties between Scruggs and the Bidens stretch back several years, per the Washington Post report, including a boat trip with James Biden and flying Joe Biden on his private plane to a fundraiser. Scruggs paid a firm run by James Biden and his wife Sara $100,000 in 1998 for advice on passing a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/1998/06/18/us/tobacco-bill-overview-senate-drops-tobacco-bill-with-98-revival-unlikely-clinton.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tobacco bill</a>. Though Joe Biden, then a U.S. senator from Delaware, threw his support behind the legislation, it <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/1998/06/18/us/tobacco-bill-overview-senate-drops-tobacco-bill-with-98-revival-unlikely-clinton.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">did not pass</a> through Congress.
Paul Fishman, a lawyer for James and Sara Biden, told the news outlet, &#8220;Jim Biden’s consulting work has never involved speaking with or providing access to his brother for this or any other client.&#8221; Scruggs reportedly claimed he did not know whether James Biden discussed the tobacco legislation with his brother. &#8220;But I hope he did,&#8221; he added. And though Scruggs insisted Jim Biden was &#8220;never untoward about his influence,&#8221; Scruggs conceded he &#8220;probably wouldn’t have hired him if he wasn’t the senator’s brother.&#8221;

According to Comer, a $40,000 check written to Biden by his sister-in-law Sara originated from Northern International Capital, a Chinese company affiliated with Chinese conglomerate CEFC. Eventually, it made its way to James and Sara Biden after going through a series of Hunter Biden-linked entities. James and his wife, Sara, then sent Joe Biden a $40,000 check as a “loan repayment.”
Comer and House Republicans have questioned the nature of the reported $40,000 check and another $200,000 check also referred to as a loan repayment. 
Democrats <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/31/politics/fact-check-evidence-supports-democrats-case-that-joe-biden-made-a-personal-loan-to-his-brother/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have argued</a> that the loans were just between James and Joe Biden, while Republicans have said that the money used to pay the president back originally came from China.

&#8220;This is when my problems started,&#8221; Stevenson told Kelly during Wednesday&#8217;s broadcast. &#8220;In 1982, they lost the house, and Jill had to come to the lawyer&#8217;s office and sign off the deed of a house in downtown Newark [Delaware].&#8221;
Stevenson <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/07/27/jill-bidens-ex-husband-slams-biden-crime-family/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">explained</a> that it had not been the house where they lived together or a beach house that he co-owned with friends, but that it had been worth around $35,000 &#8211; $40,000 at the time and had since gone up dramatically in value.
&#8220;Here is where the problem was,&#8221; Stevenson continued. &#8220;Frankie Biden of the Biden crime family comes up to me and he goes, &#8216;Give her the house, or you&#8217;re going to have serious problems.&#8217; I looked at Frankie, and I said, &#8216;What, are you threatening me?'&#8221;
But a short time later, Stevenson said that he believed the Bidens made good on that threat. &#8220;Needless to say, about two months later, my brother and I were indicted for that tax charge for $8,200. [I] could not believe the power of Joe Biden and the Department of Justice. I couldn’t believe it.&#8221;
Kelly mentioned President Joe Biden&#8217;s embattled son Hunter Biden then, noting that he was facing only two misdemeanor charges over $2 million in unpaid taxes and comparing that to the two felony charges leveraged against Stevenson and his brother for a bill under $9,000.
&#8220;I was on the wrong side of them and they have literally come after me for 35 years in a row. One little thing after another,&#8221; Stevenson said.

This is the only reason I’ve come forward. It’s like I said, nothing about the divorce, no bitterness, but Jimmy, Frankie, and President Biden are very dangerous, and it’s tragic. I can’t let them do what they did to me to President Trump. I can’t do it.&#8221;

Secretary of State <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/antony-blinken" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Antony Blinken</a>&#8216;s links to members of President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a>&#8216;s immediate family go beyond just <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hunter-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hunter Biden</a>, but he denied their business dealings came up in conversation.
<a href="https://twitter.com/paulsperry_/status/1655965367867691008" target="_blank" rel="noopener">As pointed out</a> by RealClearInvestigations reporter Paul Sperry on Tuesday, Blinken estimated during a December 2020 interview with Senate investigators that he met with James Biden, one of the president&#8217;s brothers, several times over the past couple decades.
&#8220;Oh, over the course of the, roughly, 20 years that I&#8217;ve worked for the president-elect, hard to say. A dozen,&#8221; Blinken said, according to a <a href="https://www.hsgac.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/imo/media/doc/2020-12-22-Blinken%20Interview%20with%20Exhibits%20-%20updated%20-%20reduced.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently released transcript</a>.
Like Hunter Biden, James Biden has come under scrutiny over the years due to lucrative financial dealings across the globe, as was explored in a <a href="https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/08/02/joe-biden-investigation-hunter-brother-hedge-fund-money-2020-campaign-227407/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2019 POLITICO Magazine article</a> titled &#8220;Biden Inc.&#8221; looking into how Joe Biden&#8217;s &#8220;family fortunes have closely tracked his political career.&#8221;
When asked about Joe Biden&#8217;s brother, Blinken said his discussions with James Biden did not touch on Hunter Biden&#8217;s business dealings. He also denied talking about James Biden&#8217;s business dealings in the same line of questioning.
Republican lawmakers have already begun to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republicans-start-calling-for-blinken-to-resign-over-hunter-biden-laptop-story" target="_blank" rel="noopener">express doubt</a> about Blinken&#8217;s level of honesty during that interview focused largely on a time when Joe Biden was vice president. This is because Blinken said he did not have email communications with Hunter Biden while serving as deputy secretary of state during the Obama-Biden administration, but Fox News reported Blinken did use a personal email account to correspond with Hunter Biden about <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/blinken-wife-emailed-frequently-hunter-biden-raising-questions-role-laptop-cover-story" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scheduling a meeting</a> in 2015 when the then-vice president&#8217;s son was on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings.
Blinken said he was not aware of Hunter Biden&#8217;s association with Burisma at the time and claimed the only topic he could remember discussing with Hunter Biden when they ended up meeting at the State Department in July of 2015 was how the death of Hunter Biden&#8217;s brother Beau Biden due to brain cancer was affecting the Biden family.
Several members of the Biden family are likely to get mentioned during a press conference House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) plans to hold on Wednesday. Comer urged the Justice Department over the weekend <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/comer-urges-feds-not-to-indict-hunter-biden-before-wednesday" target="_blank" rel="noopener">not to indict Hunter Biden</a>, who may soon be charged with tax- and gun-related crimes, until Republicans have a chance to present evidence showing how a &#8220;web&#8221; of LLCs is being used by foreign adversaries to improperly pay members of the Biden family in exchange for favors.
Earlier this year, Comer announced that subpoenaed financial records dating back to Joe Biden&#8217;s time as vice president showed <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/16/politics/house-gop-memo-biden-family/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$1 million in indirect payments</a> from a Chinese energy company to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republicans-start-calling-for-blinken-to-resign-over-hunter-biden-laptop-story" target="_blank" rel="noopener">his son Hunter Biden</a>, James Biden, daughter-in-law Hallie Biden, and an unknown “Biden,&#8221; adding fuel to concerns about influence peddling and business schemes.

A spokesperson for Hunter Biden pushed back on the &#8220;baseless right-wing conspiracy,&#8221; <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/16/politics/house-gop-memo-biden-family/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">telling CNN</a> that the president&#8217;s son &#8220;received his portion of good faith seed funds&#8221; as part of a joint venture and then shared this money &#8220;with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved with at the time, and sharing expenses.” President Biden, who has sought to distance himself from the business dealings of his family members, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-denies-1m-payments-family-hunter-associate-despite-bank-records-not-true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rejected the GOP&#8217;s findings</a>, too.
Blinken, who served as an adviser to Joe Biden&#8217;s 2020 presidential campaign, has also denied soliciting what became a letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials suggesting the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hunter-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hunter Biden</a> laptop story could be part of a Russian disinformation operation just weeks before the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/2020-election" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2020 election</a> after former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell said a conversation they had prompted the effort.
&#8220;With regard to that letter, I didn&#8217;t — it wasn&#8217;t my idea, didn&#8217;t ask for it, didn&#8217;t solicit it,&#8221; Blinken said during an <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/secretary-state-blinken-denies-role-hunter-biden-russian-disinfo-letter-wasnt-my-idea" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview last week with Fox News</a>. Asked if he accepts that the Hunter Biden laptop story was not Russian disinformation, Blinken said he would not be <a class="c-link" href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/secretary-state-blinken-denies-role-hunter-biden-russian-disinfo-letter-wasnt-my-idea" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-stringify-link="https://www.foxnews.com/media/secretary-state-blinken-denies-role-hunter-biden-russian-disinfo-letter-wasnt-my-idea" data-sk="tooltip_parent">&#8220;engaging in politics&#8221;</a> while focused on the job of being the nation&#8217;s top diplomat.

Blinken Says He Met With James Biden ‘A Dozen’ Times, Denies Business Talk

House Republicans pushed a <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Bank-Records-Memo-3.16.23.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">memo</a> Wednesday alleging an energy company linked to the Chinese Communist Party previously funneled more than $1 million in payments to at least three family members of President Joe Biden.
Investigations from the House Oversight Committee claim a recent subpoena of bank records from John Robinson Walker, a Biden family associate, and his company Robinson Walker, LLC used his business to transfer money from the Chinese State Energy HK Limited, a firm affiliated with CEFC China Energy, to Biden family members, including the Hunter Biden (son), James Biden (brother), Hallie Biden (daughter-in-law), and a fourth “unknown Biden” from 2015 to 2017.
According to the New York Post bombshell <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/03/16/comer-reveals-new-biden-family-member-who-got-china-cash-prez-dined-with-her-friday/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> on Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop, he and the president&#8217;s brother James earned at least $4.8 million from the CEFC China Energy between 2017 and 2018.
“The Committee is concerned about the national security implications of a President’s or Vice President’s immediate family members receiving millions of dollars from foreign nationals or companies without any oversight,” the memo reads from the office of committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY). “Current financial disclosure laws and regulations do not require non-dependent family members to provide any information to the public.”
Comer’s office published the memo amid the chairman making rounds in the media circuit, saying the new evidence of influence peddling runs deep into President Biden’s family tree.
“At the end of this, I think we’re gonna see there are probably six or seven Biden family members that were involved in various business schemes around the world,” Comer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/comer-believes-6-or-7-biden-family-members-involved-in-foreign-business-schemes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Wednesday night.
According to the memo, less than two months after then-Vice President Biden left office under the Obama administration in 2017, the Chinese state energy company wired $3 million to Robinson Walker, LLC. However, Walker’s business allegedly only had a balance of $159,000 at the time of the transfer.
Following the wire, the committee memo says Walker’s company transferred on March 1, 2017, $1,065,000 to European Energy and Infrastructure Group (EEIG) in Abu Dhabi, which is affiliated with James Gilliar, a business partner of Hunter Biden that has been previously involved in other foreign transactions dealing with the Biden family. Gilliar’s affiliated company allegedly received roughly the same $1,065,000 on March 2, 2017.

Less than a week later, Biden family members and their companies began receiving incremental payments over a period of approximately three months, the memo claims.
On November 5, 2015, the memo says that Walker’s LLC received nearly $180,000 from an unknown company with an overseas bank account. It adds that Walker transferred $59,900 from the business account to his personal checking account the next day, which went to a bank account for “Robert Biden” three days later.
Committee members say the new evidence involving Walker’s company and Biden family financial records raises concerns about the timing of the Chinese energy company wiring $3 million after Biden left office in 2017.
It is unclear if Biden family members provided services to the Chinese energy company, however, the questions of why an unknown holder for the “Biden” bank account received $70 million in payments or Hallie Biden received nearly $25,000 from the LLC while she worked as a school counselor remains.
Hallie Biden is the widow of the president&#8217;s late son Beau Biden, who died of brain cancer in 2015. She began dating Hunter Biden from around 2016 to 2019.
“The American people deserve transparency into the extent of the Biden family’s influence peddling, and we intend to deliver legislation that will preclude family members from capitalizing on their relatives’ public office,” the memo reads.

White House spokesman Ian Sams dismissed the committee&#8217;s findings as an &#8220;attack&#8221; on the president&#8217;s family members.
“After a disgusting attack lamenting that the President’s deceased son Beau was never prosecuted while he was alive, Congressman Comer has now decided to go after Beau’s widow,” Sams said, according to The New York Post. “Instead of bizarrely attacking the President’s family, perhaps House Republicans should focus on working with the President to deliver results for American families on important priorities like lowering costs and strengthening health care.”
President Biden has denied having involvement in the business dealings of his son Hunter and brother James. Federal prosecutors are investigating Hunter Biden over his foreign business dealings in countries such as China and Ukraine, tax affairs, and more.
Though Hunter Biden has said he expects to be cleared of wrongdoing, Republicans have raised concerns about influence peddling, especially any that may include the president, spurred in part by findings on an abandoned laptop.
“What we’re finding out . . . is this Biden family business scheme involved a lot of members of the Biden family, none of whom had any experience in Chinese energy or Ukrainian energy deals,” Comer told Fox Business on Thursday morning.
Comer said he is so far familiar with about 12 or 13 transactions, and his team plans to request more bank records. “We’re making a lot of progress in this investigation, and it doesn’t look good for the Biden family,” he added.
Hunter Biden&#8217;s legal team defended the pay-outs in a statement to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0WDSaX-uSA">Fox News</a>.
&#8220;Hunter Biden, a private citizen with every right to pursue his own business endeavors, joined several business partners in seeking a joint venture with a privately-owned, legitimate energy company in China,&#8221; a spokesperson for Biden&#8217;s legal team said.
