Illinois Democratic Governor JB Pritzker is getting hammered after posting a video promoting walking in Chicago, days after an 18-year-old woman was allegedly fatally shot by an illegal immigrant while out for a walk.
Sheridan Gorman, a Loyola University freshman, was killed March 19 while walking with friends, according to reports. Authorities say a 25-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rare-reason-keeps-illegal-alien-suspect-in-loyola-student-slaying-from-facing-court?author=Jennie+Taer&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Rare+Reason+Keeps+Illegal+Alien+Suspect+In+Loyola+Student+Slaying+From+Facing+Court">Venezuelan national</a> who was in the United States unlawfully approached her and shot her as she tried to run away.
The suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, crossed the southern border illegally in May 2023 and was later released into the United States. He then turned up in Chicago, where he was accused of shoplifting from a Macy’s weeks later, <a href="https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/03/21/loyola-chicago-shooting-suspect/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Chicago Tribune. He never showed up for his court date, resulting in a warrant for his arrest, the outlet reported.
Days after Gorman&#8217;s killing, Pritzker posted a video promoting &#8220;National Walking Day,&#8221; describing the sanctuary state of Illinois as &#8220;the best place to walk.&#8221;
And the governor walked into an onslaught of criticism.

Gorman&#8217;s family has criticized Pritzker&#8217;s response to the tragic slaying. Four days after the killing, Pritzker&#8217;s office released a statement on the &#8220;senseless murder.&#8221;
“Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and Loyola University community grieving the senseless murder of Sheridan Gorman,&#8221; Pritzker&#8217;s office told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Violent crime has no place in our streets, and we expect the alleged perpetrator to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.&#8221;
Pritzker&#8217;s office placed blame on &#8220;the Trump administration,&#8221; saying it needs &#8220;to stop politicizing heinous tragedies and instead focus on real solutions, like reinstating federal funds to prevent violence that support our public safety efforts.&#8221;
In a social media <a href="https://www.facebook.com/GovPritzker/posts/sheridan-gormans-murder-is-a-tragedy-and-the-person-responsible-must-be-held-acc/1488447859304935/?utm_source=chatgpt.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a>, Pritzker called Gorman&#8217;s killing &#8220;a tragedy,&#8221; adding that &#8220;the person responsible must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.&#8221;
Gorman&#8217;s family <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/gorman-family-calls-out-johnson-pritzker-following-college-students-killing-chicago">pushed back</a> on the governor&#8217;s response, saying her “death cannot be reduced to a general ‘tragedy,’ nor can it be explained away by broad references to failures somewhere else.&#8221;
“We are not interested in political arguments or in watching responsibility shift from one place to another,&#8221; the family continued. &#8220;If there were failures — as the Governor himself has acknowledged—then every one of them must be identified, examined, and addressed directly. The location of those failures matters less than the willingness to confront them honestly.”
“Our daughter is not a policy debate. She is a life that was taken, and that demands accountability,” they added.

The family of Sheridan Gorman, the college student who was fatally shot by an illegal immigrant in Chicago, are slamming the sanctuary-policy-supporting leaders in Illinois for their response to her killing.
Jose Medina-Medina, 25, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rare-reason-keeps-illegal-alien-suspect-in-loyola-student-slaying-from-facing-court?author=Jennie+Taer&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Rare+Reason+Keeps+Illegal+Alien+Suspect+In+Loyola+Student+Slaying+From+Facing+Court">an illegal immigrant from Venezuela</a>, allegedly approached the college freshman wearing a black mask around 1 a.m. on March 19, and shot her as she tried to run. The 18-year-old Loyola University freshman was walking with friends to see the Northern Lights when she was fatally shot, her family said.
After former President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration released Medina at the border in May 2023, he wound up in Chicago, where he allegedly shoplifted from a local Macy&#8217;s that June, according to the Chicago Tribune. Medina failed to show up for his hearing in the case before a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Democratic Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson responded nearly a week after the killing, calling it an act of &#8220;senseless violence&#8221; and a &#8220;tragedy.&#8221;
&#8220;As I prepare to send my oldest son off to college this fall, I can&#8217;t stop thinking about the Gorman family as they bear the unimaginable loss of their daughter Sheridan. What I want for my child is what I want for every single child and every single person in this city. That is to be safe and to live out their purpose without fear. Disturbing acts of violence like this set us back as a city,&#8221; Johnson said. &#8220;We will not tolerate those who break the law and put the lives of others in danger.&#8221;
&#8220;I believe that we&#8217;re all grieving the loss of Sheridan and other folks who have lost their lives because of senseless violence.&#8221;
Gorman&#8217;s family hit back at Johnson, calling for accountability in the case.
&#8220;What happened to Sheridan cannot be reduced to a ‘senseless tragedy,’ nor can it be explained in general terms about public safety. Sheridan was our daughter. She was 18 years old. She was doing something entirely normal — walking near her campus with friends. She should be here,&#8221; the Gorman family said, according to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/gorman-family-calls-out-johnson-pritzker-following-college-students-killing-chicago" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a>.
&#8220;Calling this ‘senseless’ is not enough. There must be a clear and honest accounting of what went wrong,&#8221; the family said. &#8220;We will not allow Sheridan’s life to be reduced to a talking point or a generalization. We expect leadership that is willing to confront hard truths and ensure that what happened to her does not happen again.&#8221;
Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker&#8217;s office released its first statement on Gorman’s killing Tuesday afternoon.
“Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and Loyola University community grieving the senseless murder of Sheridan Gorman. Violent crime has no place in our streets, and we expect the alleged perpetrator to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” a spokesperson for Pritzker told The Daily Wire.
“The Trump Administration needs to stop politicizing heinous tragedies and instead focus on real solutions, like reinstating federal funds to prevent violence that support our public safety efforts,” the spokesperson added.
Gorman&#8217;s family also hit back at Pritzker over his statement.
&#8220;Sheridan’s death cannot be reduced to a general &#8216;tragedy,&#8217; nor can it be explained away by broad references to failures somewhere else. Sheridan was a daughter, a sister, and a young woman whose life was taken in a way that should never have been possible,&#8221; the family said, according to Fox News. &#8220;We are not interested in political arguments or in watching responsibility shift from one place to another. If there were failures — as the Governor himself has acknowledged—then every one of them must be identified, examined, and addressed directly. The location of those failures matters less than the willingness to confront them honestly.&#8221;

Medina was charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder in the first degree, three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and one count of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, according to the Tribune. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer with local authorities, but it is not likely to force any action due to sanctuary laws.
His initial court appearance was delayed after he was hospitalized with tuberculosis. He is due in court Friday.

It&#8217;s time to ask some serious questions.
When you get to the airport next week, a record 171 million of us will get on a plane this spring. Will you be safe?
When you look at the southern border or when you read about Sheridan Gorman, 18 years old, shot in the head while going out for a walk with friends to see the Northern Lights, do you feel safe?
You may even be reading this in line at an airport right now, probably waiting for hours if you are. That is because Democrats decided to shut down funding for the Department of Homeland Security in order to punish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — which is a part of DHS — for enforcing the law.
It doesn&#8217;t matter that ICE&#8217;s legal authority has not changed for decades. 
It doesn&#8217;t matter that under President Trump, they&#8217;re simply doing their job for the first time in decades. DHS must be closed down because ICE is doing their job.

Prosecutors said, as Gorman and her friends were walking toward the lighthouse at the end of the pier shortly after 1 a.m., Gorman told her friends she saw someone hiding behind the lighthouse. When Medina came out from behind the lighthouse, Gorman and her friends ran away, and Medina shot Gorman in the back. The bullet exited her neck.</blockquote>
The alleged murderer was a Venezuelan national in the United States illegally, according to the New York Times. Medina was released into the United States by the Biden administration in May 2023 after he had contact with Border Patrol agents. According to federal officials, Medina was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting in Chicago in June 2023, and then released. 
Gigantic shock.
You might ask yourself: If someone is arrested for shoplifting and they are an illegal immigrant, why are they still here?
The answer, of course, is that Chicago is a sanctuary city. That means that the city and state of Illinois, a Democratic state, prevent local officials from cooperating with federal law enforcement. That is why Medina was free to allegedly commit a cold-blooded murder.
If local law enforcement had notified ICE that they&#8217;d arrested an illegal immigrant and then held him until ICE arrived, Gorman would probably still be alive. Republicans up to and including President Trump have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-doesnt-hold-back-when-daily-wire-asks-about-loyola-murder-suspect-and-biden-era-link?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=44&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=Trump+Doesn%E2%80%99t+Hold+Back+When+Daily+Wire+Asks+About+Loyola+Murder+Suspect+And+Biden-Era+Link">pointed out</a> that simple fact.
Senator Ted Cruz correctly <a href="https://x.com/SenTedCruz/status/2036194371318731131">pointed out</a>, “Gorman&#8217;s killer was an illegal alien who should never have been in our country. Joe Biden&#8217;s open border policies and Governor Pritzker&#8217;s refusal to accept President Trump&#8217;s help are the reasons why she is not with us today.”
Correct.

These people were let in by Biden. We&#8217;re getting them out. We&#8217;re getting them out fast. That&#8217;s why ICE is so important. They&#8217;re doing such a good job. This &#8230; this animal — I saw the whole thing last night, they gave me a briefing — came in through Joe Biden with his open door policy and his border czar Kamala, who never saw the border.”
Democrats, however, are still making excuses. A Chicago alderman named Maria Hadden actually speculated it might have been Gorman&#8217;s fault.
You see, when you get shot in the back of the head by an illegal immigrant who was hiding while you were out seeing the Northern Lights, it&#8217;s possible that it&#8217;s your fault for startling that illegal immigrant. It’s like walking into an endangered species arena at the zoo or something. It&#8217;s your fault if something bad happens to you.
She <a href="https://x.com/EndWokeness/status/2036134913921937785">said</a>: “Then they go out on the pier, they walk around. So the kids were out doing normal, normal things people do in the neighborhood. And it sounds like this might have been a wrong place, wrong time, running into a person who had a gun. They might have startled this person at the end of the pier, unintentionally.”
Other Democrats, of course, are claiming that this is all happening because we incarcerate too many criminals.
This is the big Democratic move: It&#8217;s been true for decades. The idea is that criminality happens because too many criminals are in jail. It’s sort of like the argument that if you kill too many terrorists, you&#8217;re just creating new terrorists.
Which is weird because when you kill terrorists, then they&#8217;re dead. The same thing is true of people who are in jail: When they&#8217;re in jail, you know what they&#8217;re not doing?
They&#8217;re not on the streets shooting people.
And yet, this is the typical Democratic take. It is idiotic.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson <a href="https://x.com/nayibbukele/status/1993419780108550293">said back in</a> November 2025, “We cannot incarcerate our way out of violence. We&#8217;ve already tried that, and we&#8217;ve ended up with the largest prison population in the world without solving the problems of crime and violence, the addiction on jails and incarceration in this country. We have moved past that. It is racist. It is immoral. It is unholy, and it is not the way to drive violence down.”
I beg to differ. I think it&#8217;s a great way to drive violence down. Keeping criminals in jail is a great way for them not to commit crimes against people on the streets, because they&#8217;re in jail.
Governor J.B. Pritzker’s office issued this statement: “Our thoughts are with the family, friends and Loyola University community grieving the senseless murder of Sheridan Gorman. Violent crime has no place in our streets. We expect the alleged perpetrator to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. The Trump administration needs to stop politicizing heinous tragedies and instead focus on real solutions, like reinstating federal funds to prevent violence that support our public safety efforts.”
That&#8217;s crazy. Politicizing heinous tragedies instead of focusing on real solutions? It is not politicization to point to the specific policy that could have stopped this murder in the first place. In fact, it is playing politics to ignore that policy for political reasons.
But Democrats are addicted to playing politics on illegal immigration. They&#8217;ve decided that illegal immigrants are the finest among us and deserve our undying sympathy, and that we ought to defund the agency that houses ICE in order to facilitate illegal immigration.
Meanwhile, the partial DHS shutdown has had the effect not just of defunding ICE, but defunding the TSA — in the middle of a war. This initially led to gigantic lines around the country at airports. In response, the administration said that it will deploy ICE officers to man the TSA lines because ICE actually has some leftover funding from the last round of funding.
Now, even CNN is saying ICE is helping with wait times.
If safety is your number one issue, I don’t see how you can vote Democrat.

Joe Abraham, an Illinois father whose 20-year-old daughter Katie was killed by an illegal immigrant in a 2025 hit-and-run crash, is criticizing Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker over what he describes as a lack of acknowledgment from state leaders.
Abraham’s outcry comes after Pritzker&#8217;s office finally broke its silence regarding the recent murder of Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman — allegedly at the hands of a Venezuelan national released into the country by the Biden administration — only to use the moment to pivot to political attacks against the Trump administration.
In January 2025, Abraham&#8217;s daughter was killed in Urbana in a high-speed, drunk-driving hit-and-run. The suspect, Julio Cucul-Bol, is a Guatemalan national who had previously been deported and was living under an alias, according to law enforcement. While the Department of Homeland Security eventually launched &#8220;Operation Midway Blitz&#8221; in Katie&#8217;s honor, Pritzker has reportedly remained conspicuously silent.
In a powerful social media post, Abraham highlighted the governor&#8217;s hypocrisy, contrasting Pritzker&#8217;s public response to other tragedies with what he says has been silence in his daughter&#8217;s case.
&#8220;@GovPritzker, I saw your post honoring lives lost in Minnesota — standing publicly, naming Alex Pretti and Renee Good, and laying flowers in their memory,&#8221; Abraham wrote. &#8220;But where was that same compassion on January 19, 2025? That is the day my 20-year-old daughter, Katie Abraham, was killed here in Illinois.&#8221;
Abraham emphasized that his daughter was &#8220;simply living her life&#8221; and was not involved in any dangerous activity when she was killed.
He said he had reached out privately to the governor, seeking only &#8220;clarity&#8221; and &#8220;understanding,&#8221; but was met with total silence.
&#8220;You have never said her name. You have never come to where she died&#8230; And beyond that — you have never even responded to me,&#8221; Abraham stated.

Dem Governor Blasted For Who Made His Tribute List And Who Didn’t

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz ended his campaign for re-election, a stunning reversal and likely the end of the political career of a man who many pundits projected would be the Democratic nominee for president as early as 2028.
But if a once-popular governor can be toppled by widespread welfare fraud, where does that leave other Democratic presidential hopefuls?
The revelations of staggering levels of fraud in Minnesota — and Walz’s preemptive exit from the big stage — should send a chill down the spines of Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro, and JB Pritzker, who are likely sitting on powder kegs of fraud themselves. What are the odds that Tim Walz is an outlier among blue-state governors with the exact same political philosophy and ideology? Unlikely.
Federal prosecutors allege more than <a href="https://minnesotareformer.com/2025/12/18/u-s-attorney-fraud-likely-exceeds-9-billion-in-minnesota-run-medicaid-services/">$9 billion</a> in Minnesota Medicaid dollars were stolen by scammers primarily from the state’s Somali community, an enormous sum, equivalent to roughly three-quarters of <a href="https://nbs.gov.so/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Somalia-GDP-2024-release-text-v3-2025.pdf">Somalia’s GDP</a>. Investigations are ongoing, and the real total loss may be even higher.
Welfare programs are an enormous money pot that inevitably attracts scammers. And the bigger the pot, the bigger the potential payoff for thieves. With state budgets the size of those in California, Illinois, and New York, not to mention Democrats’ general posture toward welfare expansion, it would be truly shocking if there were less fraud in those larger states.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins requested data from the states on who is receiving food stamps early last year, including identifying information like Social Security numbers and, importantly, immigration status. The Trump administration has previously discovered that more than one million people were illegally receiving <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/press-room/cms-doge-identify-wasteful-duplicate-medicaid-enrollments.html">Medicaid in multiple states</a> — and it’s likely the same with food stamps and SNAP benefits. Individual states are not able to detect this kind of fraud: only the federal government can find it by comparing recipients across the states.
But Democrats have refused to help the Trump administration find fraud. In fact, <a href="https://oag.ca.gov/news/press-releases/attorney-general-bonta-sues-trump-administration-over-illegal-demands-states">in July</a>, 22 blue states sued to block the Trump administration from requiring the data. Democrats want the federal government to pay for food stamps without knowing who is receiving them.
Tim Walz and the other 21 governors have all seen the information they are currently hiding from the feds. In the absence of transparency from these elected officials, federal investigators, journalists, and citizens of goodwill all need to keep digging until the American people get the truth and law enforcement can bring fraudsters to justice.
Food stamp fraud is a known fact. According to the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office (GAO), more than <a href="https://www.gao.gov/assets/gao-25-107753.pdf">$10 billion</a> in the food stamp program is wasted every year — <a href="https://www.ers.usda.gov/topics/food-nutrition-assistance/supplemental-nutrition-assistance-program-snap/key-statistics-and-research">more than 10%</a> of the program. Some blue states have even higher error rates: Massachusetts and D.C. overpay by an average of more than <a href="https://fns-prod.azureedge.us/sites/default/files/resource-files/snap-fy24QC-PER.pdf">13%</a> — and New York and New Jersey aren’t far behind at more than 12%. That means that one out of every eight dollars in these states is wasted — and this is just the waste, fraud, and abuse that we know about.
Nearly <a href="https://thefga.org/research/categorical-eligibility-in-food-stamps-is-fraud-by-design/">every Democrat-run state</a> in America also uses an accounting gimmick called Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility, or BBCE, to hide its own erroneous payments from the federal government. BBCE means that if someone receives a non-monetary TANF benefit, like a brochure or the number to a welfare agency hotline, the state assumes that they qualify for food stamps, too, without bothering to check their assets to see if they are actually eligible. The result is an explosion in the welfare state, costing taxpayers more than <a href="https://thefga.org/solution/promoting-work-over-welfare/bbce/">$11 billion per year</a>, with the benefits going to people with liquid assets well above the limits set in federal law.
The good news is that, thanks to a new law signed by President Trump, states with high error rates can no longer waste federal tax dollars with impunity. States with food stamp payment error rates over <a href="https://www.sas.com/en_us/news/press-releases/2025/november/payment-integrity-food-assistance.html">six percent</a> are now legally required to start paying back a small part of the cost of the program. Left-wing Massachusetts could owe more than <a href="https://www.wwlp.com/news/massachusetts/understaffed-dta-faces-steep-snap-penalty-risks/">$250 million per year</a>. Deep-blue Maryland may be on the hook for more than <a href="https://marylandmatters.org/2025/12/03/maryland-may-face-more-than-300-million-in-new-snap-costs-due-to-high-payment-error/">$300 million</a>. This is a great first step, and not only will it help repay federal taxpayers, but it will also encourage states to finally get their act together and stop wasting money.
As the old story goes, criminals rob banks “because that’s where the money is.” And there are no bigger pots of money than the federal treasury and the bloated budgets of blue states. Attorney General Bondi and investigators across the country are beginning to look at where the real money is — and the fallout could bring down the entire top-tier slate of 2028 Democratic presidential nominees.

Trump and Pritzker are at odds over the governor&#8217;s opposition to the president demanding crime be cleaned up in Chicago specifically, and illegal immigrants in the city be deported.
Pritzker has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/still-no-response-from-jb-pritzker-after-insane-stretch-of-deadly-violence-in-chicago?author=Brecca+Stoll&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=Still+No+Response+From+JB+Pritzker+After+Insane+Stretch+Of+Deadly+Violence+In+Chicago">refused to address</a> the growing crime issues in Chicago, including after the recent brutal public transit attack in which a 26-year-old woman was set on fire by a career criminal with more than 70 arrests.
After a shooting last week, Trump again offered to send in the National Guard. The president <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115595274389789024">wrote</a> on Truth Social, “The people are chanting, BRING IN TRUMP!!!”
“Pritzker needs help badly, just doesn’t know it yet,&#8221; Trump said back in September. &#8220;I will solve the crime problem fast, just like I did in DC. Chicago will be safe again.&#8221;

Pritzker has also done nothing to stop the attacks and assaults on federal immigration officers in his state, instead staunchly opposing Immigration and Customs Enforcement&#8217;s (ICE) efforts.
“Our message to JB Pritzker: Get out of your mansion and see Chicago,” Assistant Department of Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/10/06/dhs-debunks-governor-pritzkers-harmful-lies-about-operation-midway-blitz-chicago">said</a> in October. “If J.B. Pritzker actually walked the streets of his own city, he would see domestic terrorists and violent rioters attacking police officers and the scourge of violent crime as a direct result of his own policies.”

Trump Says He Won’t Call JB Pritzker A ‘Fat Slob’

Recently, the Illinois legislature approved a bill that would legalize so-called physician-assisted suicide in the state. The bill now rests on Governor JB Pritzker’s desk, and he has until November 30 to decide whether to sign it into law.
He shouldn&#8217;t. In fact, he should veto it.
No matter how much advocates attempt to paint euthanasia as “compassionate,” the truth stands: Euthanasia, no matter what form it takes, creates a culture of death, jeopardizing — not protecting — the most vulnerable in society.
Look at Illinois’s bill, for example. If passed, it would allow physician-assisted suicides for individuals who are suffering from a terminal illness and have been given less than six months to live. As a result, advocates have painted it as a way for the already dying — and only the already dying — to secure “death with dignity.” 
Yet the bill limits do nothing to make it more ethical than legislation that allows for euthanasia of anyone at any time.  
Every human life has value, no matter how much time that life has left. Ending a life, no matter what stage that life is at, does not give it dignity — it devalues it, treating it as worthless and disposable. 
Even if that weren’t true, allowing assisted suicide in any circumstances lays the first stone in creating a “culture of death” that spreads throughout society. 
Look at Canada. While their assisted suicide program allegedly began to help people in extreme circumstances secure death with dignity, it’s now expanded so much that it allows for same-day suicide for a broad range of conditions, including mental illness. As a result, rates of suicide have grown exponentially, increasing 13-fold between 2016 and 2022 and totaling a <a href="https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/publications/health-system-services/annual-report-medical-assistance-dying-2023.html">shocking 15,343 in 2023</a>.  
Physician-assisted suicide has reached such a point in the U.K. that (former) Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn9dn42xqg4o">said last year</a> that he “worried people would feel compelled to ask to die if they felt like a burden.” 
Any legalization of assisted dying “opens the way to it broadening out,” Welby said, causing people who aren’t terminally ill to ask for it or feel “pressured to ask for it.” 
That hurts the entire society — but it’s especially harmful to the most vulnerable, including those, like my daughter, with disabilities. In a society that treats life as meaningless and treats imposing a burden on someone else as a reason to die, those with disabilities and mental illnesses are sure to fall prey. 
In Canada, they already are — a fact highlighted in stories like that of Alan Nichols, a 61-year-old who was involuntarily committed and then euthanized within a month. Such stories paint a grim picture of a society that treats patients not as people, but as objects to be discarded; the second caring for them would require effort.  
Those with disabilities should know they don’t have to throw their life away simply because of the challenges their disability poses. Their lives have value. 
Ending a human life, any life, is wrong — regardless of whether that life belongs to someone close to death, to someone with a disability or mental illness, or to someone who simply feels isolated or lonely. Governor Pritzker should veto Illinois’ dangerous legislation and reaffirm the American principle that every human — no matter who they are — has a right to life.

The Trump administration is seeking to capture an illegal immigrant accused of raping a woman he knocked unconscious in the sanctuary city of Chicago, The Daily Wire has learned.
Nicaraguan illegal immigrant Leyter Jeferson Arauz-Medina was waved across the border by the Biden administration in 2024, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told The Daily Wire. He received a deportation order just weeks before he allegedly brutally raped a 54-year-old woman on August 31, 2025. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) immediately lodged an arrest detainer with local authorities in Chicago for Arauz-Medina following the sexual assault.
Arauz-Medina allegedly dragged the screaming woman across a street and into an alley, where he threw her to the ground, strangled her, and stripped her naked, authorities said. The illegal immigrant then repeatedly slammed the woman&#8217;s head into the concrete, causing her to lose consciousness.
The woman eventually regained consciousness and began fighting back while Arauz-Medina continued to sexually assault her, according to DHS.
Arauz-Medina was eventually spooked by a passing motorist and fled the scene. The naked victim ran down the street before she came across a worker at a nearby food truck who came to her aid.
“A real-life nightmare: This criminal, who JB Pritzker continues to protect, VICIOUSLY ATTACKED an innocent woman who was walking the streets of Chicago,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement shared with The Daily Wire.
“This monster was released into our country by the Biden Administration. Governor Pritzker and his sanctuary policies protect criminal illegal alien rapists over American citizens. We will do everything in our power to ensure this wicked criminal NEVER walks our streets again,&#8221; she added.
The Trump administration will now face an uphill battle in trying to force local authorities hamstrung by sanctuary laws in Chicago to honor the detainer and hand over Arauz-Medina upon his eventual release. Since September, DHS has flooded Illinois with additional ICE and Border Patrol agents to carry out &#8220;Operation Midway Blitz,&#8221; which has resulted in the arrests of hundreds of illegal immigrants.
Violent rioters have taken to the streets to block the feds, who are facing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mexican-cartels-place-bounties-on-federal-agents-in-chicago">bounty</a> threats from the Mexican cartels operating in Chicago and increased assaults. President Donald Trump has sought to send in the National Guard to restore peace, but the deployment has been held up by a judge amid an ongoing lawsuit from the state of Illinois.
Democratic Illinois Gov. JB <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-to-send-texas-national-guard-troops-to-quell-anti-ice-attacks-in-chicago">Pritzker</a> has labeled the troop deployment as “Trump’s invasion.”

Federal immigration agents arrested an illegal immigrant who was working as a police officer in the sanctuary state of Illinois.
Radule Bojovic, an illegal immigrant from Montenegro, overstayed a B2 tourist visa that required him to leave the United States on March 31, 2015, the Department of Homeland Security <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/10/16/governor-jb-pritzkers-illinois-illegal-alien-working-sworn-police-office-badge-gun" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Thursday. Despite his immigration status, Bojovic was working as an officer with the Hanover Park Police Department.
Bojovic was approved by the Pension Fund Board of Trustees in January 2025 and was eligible to receive a starting salary of $78,955.70, according to DHS. His 2025 earnings were $205,707, including $9,276 for FICA/Medicare taxes.
DHS placed the blame on Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker for permitting the employment of an illegal immigrant as a police officer in his state.
“Governor J.B. Pritzker doesn’t just allow violent illegal aliens to terrorize Illinois’s communities, he allows illegal aliens to work as sworn police officers. Radule Bojovic violated our nation’s laws and was living ILLEGALLY in the United States for 10 years — what kind of police department gives criminal illegal aliens badges and guns? It’s a felony for aliens to even possess a firearm. A so-called law enforcement officer who is actively breaking the law,” Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.
“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem ICE is restoring law and order. Criminal illegal aliens have NO PLACE in our communities, especially on our police forces,” McLaughlin added.
Bojovic <a href="https://x.com/BenBergquam/status/1978879958698332249" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Real America’s Voice reporter Ben Bergquam that he was authorized to carry a firearm while on duty. He also claimed that he had a permit to work in the U.S.

The Trump administration has set its sights on Illinois with its “Operation Midway Blitz” immigration raids.
The presence of federal immigration agents in Illinois, however, has drawn many anti-ICE agitators who have tried to block the operation, unleash violence, and carry out hits on the officers.
In an effort to quell the attacks, President Donald Trump attempted to deploy hundreds of troops to the region. A judge later paused the deployment. The case is ongoing after the state sued the Trump administration.

Illinois Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker, eyeing a third term and potentially a run for the White House, revealed in a partial tax disclosure that he and his wife pulled in more than $10.3 million in 2024 — including $1.425 million from gambling, the Chicago Tribune reported.
In a single year, Pritzker <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/jb-pritzker-won-14-million-vegas-playing-blackjack-rcna237961">reaped</a> more than a million dollars playing blackjack at a casino in Las Vegas. Those casino winnings don’t even capture the full picture — in prior years, his income was far lower (around $3.2 million in 2023, $2.3 million in 2022) — making 2024’s eight-figure haul all the more eyebrow‑raising.
As a billionaire heir to the Hyatt Hotels legacy, Pritzker has long had the means to bankroll his own political ambitions and fund Democratic causes across the nation. But with this gambling windfall laid bare just months before a critical Democratic primary, questions are bound to swirl about the optics — and ethics — of a governor who aggressively expanded the gambling sector while quietly profiting from the industry himself.
Pritzker was a driving force behind Illinois’ sweeping gambling reforms in 2019. Shortly after taking office, he <a href="https://www.nprillinois.org/statehouse/2019-06-28/pritzker-signs-45-billion-infrastructure-plan-legalizes-sports-betting">pushed through</a> a massive infrastructure bill (roughly $45 billion) that included major gaming expansions: legalization of sports betting, six new casinos, and casino/racetrack gaming at many venues.
That legislation was framed as a fiscal lifeline — a way to reclaim gambling dollars leaving the state, create jobs, and pad public revenue. Pritzker toured racetracks, made public pitches at venues like Fairmount Park, and positioned the law as a mechanism to rescue struggling horse racing communities. The promise: legal gaming would help reenergize industries fading under competition. And to many observers, he sold it as a necessary modernization of Illinois’ revenue base.

While Pritzker doesn’t collect a salary as governor, he’s shown that his personal income — bolstered by trusts and investments — eclipses that of most public servants. The disclosure notes $4.5 million in state taxes and $30.2 million in federal taxes were paid by the trusts benefiting him, an arrangement he says is intended to shelter against conflicts of interest. He passed his investment control to an independent trustee in 2018, calling it a “blind trust,” though critics argue it isn’t fully opaque given disclosure rules.
All of this raises a central tension: a governor who actively promoted gambling expansion now reports massive earnings from gambling. In an election year, with the records partially exposed, Pritzker’s dual role as promoter and participant in the industry is bound to draw skepticism. His political future may hinge on whether voters view him as having crossed the line between promotion and profiteering.

While the case is ongoing, the latest decision will allow the feds to send 200 Texas National Guard soldiers to quell anti-ICE violence across the sanctuary city. The next hearing in the case is set for Thursday, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10/06/us/national-guard-trump-oregon-chicago" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the New York Times.
Troops are expected to arrive in the Windy City Tuesday or Wednesday, according to the report.
After announcing the state’s lawsuit against the deployment Monday, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker indicated that he wouldn’t back down.

“The state of Illinois is going to use every lever at our disposal to resist this power grab and get [Kristi] Noem’s thugs the hell out of Chicago,” Pritzker said in an afternoon press conference.
The decision to send troops to Chicago comes after Border Patrol agents were ambushed Saturday when two agitators allegedly rammed the agents’ vehicle in a convoy of cars.
The trapped agents encountered one of the alleged attackers, who was later <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/10/04/update-dhs-deploys-special-operations-after-multiple-violent-attacks-federal-law" target="_blank" rel="noopener">identified</a> as Marimar Martinez, and determined that she was “armed with a semi-automatic weapon,” forcing them to “fire defensive shots at an unarmed U.S. citizen,” according to the Department of Homeland Security.
When the agents called Chicago police for reinforcements as a mob of rioters gathered around the scene, the local police were <a href="https://x.com/RedWave_Press/status/1975231794858340415" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> to stand down.

“The order establishes ICE-free zones. That means that city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as staging grounds for these raids,” Johnson said.
Like Illinois, the State of Oregon has taken legal steps to stop the Trump administration from sending soldiers from other states to assist ICE. As of publication, Texas troops are blocked from deploying to Portland.
