Federal authorities said Friday that they thwarted an ISIS-inspired terrorist attack that was planned for New Year&#8217;s Eve at a grocery store and fast food restaurant in Mint Hill, North Carolina.
United States citizen Christian Sturdivant, 18, allegedly planned to massacre Americans using &#8220;knives and hammers&#8221; in the Charlotte suburb after he became radicalized online, federal authorities revealed during a press conference Friday. He planned to become a &#8220;martyr&#8221; in the attack.
&#8220;He was preparing for Jihad and innocent people were going to die,&#8221; Russ Ferguson, the United States Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, opened Friday&#8217;s presser.
&#8220;He was targeting Jews, Christians and LGBTQ individuals,&#8221; Ferguson said.
Sturdivant, who worked at a local Burger King, was previously on law enforcement&#8217;s radar in January 2022, when he was just 14-years-old and communicating on social media with an overseas ISIS member who instructed him to dress in all black, knock on people&#8217;s doors and attack them with a hammer, James Barnacle, FBI Special Agent in Charge in Charlotte, said Friday. He was stopped from carrying out the attack by his own family, Barnacle added. Sturdivant then underwent psychological care and did not face charges.
At the time, the FBI was told that Sturdivant &#8220;no longer had access to social media,&#8221; which they learned &#8220;wasn&#8217;t true&#8221; on Dec. 18, according to Barnacle.

Sturdivant began reading ISIS websites, making TikToks before he reached out to an individual he believed was a member of the terrorist organization who turned out to be an undercover agent with the NYPD, with whom he &#8220;pledged his allegiance to ISIS&#8221; and &#8220;disclosed his plans to &#8216;do jihad soon,'&#8221; authorities said.
He later communicated with an undercover FBI agent, whom he believed was an ISIS operative, and shared &#8220;very specific&#8221; plans about where he planned to commit the attack and how he planned to do so.
He also asked the person for help obtaining firearms to execute his plans.
The FBI then executed a search warrant at the suspect&#8217;s residence, where they found hammers and knives that were hidden under his bed and notes showing his plans. His family previously hid knives from him in the home.
The alleged terrorist was arrested on New Year&#8217;s Eve as he was being released from a medical facility. He is charged with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.
&#8220;Without the swift action of the FBI, joint terrorism, task force, New York City, police department, the Mint Hill Police Department and our partners at the United States attorney&#8217;s office for the western district North Carolina, we could be announcing national tragedy. Instead, a terrorist attack was thwarted,&#8221; Barnacle said.
The planned attack comes just one year after Shamsud-Din Jabbar plowed through a crowd celebrating the new year on New Orleans&#8217; Bourbon Street while displaying an ISIS flag on his vehicle. He killed 14 people and injured 57 others before local police took him out.
Din-Jabbar also placed bombs in the area, which failed to detonate.

The U.S. military said Tuesday that it killed or captured nearly 25 ISIS operatives during a nine-day counterterrorism operation in Syria following an attack earlier this month that left two American troops dead.
U.S. Central Command said seven terrorists were killed and more than a dozen more were captured during 11 missions in Syria from December 20-29. “We will not relent,” said Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of Central Command. “We are steadfast in commitment to working with regional partners to root out the ISIS threat posed to U.S. and regional security.”
In addition to taking out the ISIS operatives, American and partner forces destroyed four ISIS weapons caches, Central Command said. The strikes conducted on December 19 by fighter jets, attack helicopters, and artillery targeted ISIS infrastructure and weapons sites in central Syria. 
“Continuing to hunt down terrorist operatives, eliminate ISIS networks, and work with partners to prevent an ISIS resurgence makes America, the region, and the world safer,” said Cooper.
The strikes were launched in retaliation for an ISIS attack on December 13 that killed 29-year-old Sgt. Nate Howard and 25-year-old Sgt. Edgar Torres-Tovar. An American interpreter named Ayad Mansoor Sakat was also killed in the attack. Both Howard and Torres were members of the Iowa National Guard. 
“As we said directly following the savage attack, if you target Americans — anywhere in the world — you will spend the rest of your brief, anxious life knowing the United States will hunt you, find you, and ruthlessly kill you,” War Secretary Pete Hegseth said, announcing the strikes.

According to Central Command, ISIS inspired at least 11 plots or attacks in the United States in 2025. Over the course of the year, American and partner forces have killed more than 20 terrorists and detained more than 300 in Syria.
On Monday, the Justice Department unsealed records showing that a 21-year-old man named John Michael Garza had been charged in Texas for providing bomb components and money to individuals he believed were affiliated with ISIS. Garza allegedly told law enforcement he believed in ISIS ideology and made several cryptocurrency payments he believed were going to fund weapons for the terrorist group.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said Thursday that the United States had conducted strikes against ISIS targets in Syria in response to an attack last weekend that left two American troops dead. 
Hegseth said that the strikes were not about starting a new war, but enacting “vengeance” for an ISIS attack targeting American forces last Saturday. 
“Earlier today, U.S. forces commenced OPERATION HAWKEYE STRIKE in Syria to eliminate ISIS fighters, infrastructure, and weapons sites in direct response to the attack on U.S. forces that occurred on December 13th in Palmyra, Syria,” Hegseth posted on X. “This is not the beginning of a war — it is a declaration of vengeance. The United States of America, under President Trump’s leadership, will never hesitate and never relent to defend our people.”
“As we said directly following the savage attack, if you target Americans — anywhere in the world — you will spend the rest of your brief, anxious life knowing the United States will hunt you, find you, and ruthlessly kill you,” he added. “Today, we hunted and we killed our enemies. Lots of them. And we will continue.”
Citing an American official, the New York Times said that the strikes targeted dozens of ISIS sites throughout central Syria. The operation is set to be a “a massive attack,” the official said.

The attacks last week killed two troops identified as 29-year-old Nate Howard and 25-year-old Edgar Torres. An American interpreter named Ayad Mansoor Sakat was also killed in the attack. Both Howard and Torres were members of the Iowa National Guard. 
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump and Hegseth attended a dignified transfer of the soldier’s remains at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
After the attacks last weekend, Trump said that the United States would retaliate. 
“I can tell you in Syria there will be a lot of damage done to the people that did it, that they got the person, the individual person, but there’ll be big damage done,” Trump said on Sunday.

The attack was also carried out by 50-year-old Sajid Akram, who was killed by law enforcement. Naveed Akram was hospitalized after suffering critical injuries during the attack.
He was also charged with 40 counts of wounding/grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder, discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, public display of a prohibited terrorist organization symbol, and placing explosives in/near buildings with intent to cause harm.

Two ISIS flags reportedly discovered in a vehicle belong to Naveed and Sajid. Investigators also say that the pair traveled to the Philippines between November 1 and November 28, where there is a strong Islamist presence. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation <a href="https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-12-16/bondi-gunmen-went-to-philippines-for-military-style-training/106148662">reported</a> that sources said the two received &#8220;military-style training&#8221; while in the Philippines.  
Naveed Akram was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bondi-beach-terrorist-was-previously-investigated-for-ties-to-isis">previously investigated</a> by authorities over ties to an Islamic State terror cell six years ago. Those killed during the attack range between the ages of 10 and 87, though some are still being identified. Forty-one people were initially hospitalized after the attack, and 20 are still receiving treatment.

One of the shooters of the antisemitic terror attack at Bondi Beach in Australia on Sunday was previously investigated by authorities for his ties to an Islamic State terror cell.
Naveed Akram, who killed 15 people with his 50-year-old father Sajid Akram at a “Chanukah by the Sea” event Sunday, was investigated by Australia’s domestic intelligence agency, ASIO, six years ago, according to Australian media.
Police say the attack was inspired by the pair’s allegiance to ISIS, with two ISIS flags reportedly discovered in their vehicle, <a href="https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-12-15/bondi-beach-attack-gunmen-father-and-son/106142630">according to ABC Australia.</a> 
Police reportedly first took an interest in the 24-year-old terrorist after they foiled an ISIS attack that was planned by a man who declared himself the Australian commander of an ISIS cell in Australia. He was under investigation for six months before being deemed to pose no ongoing threat.
ASIO director-general Mike Burgess confirmed on Sunday that one of the terrorists was known to law enforcement.
&#8220;One of these individuals was known to us, but not in an immediate-threat perspective, so we need to look into what happened here,&#8221; he said.
The younger Akram is in critical condition at a hospital where he is under police guard. His father was shot dead by officers at the scene. 
“Based on his medical condition, it is likely that this person may face criminal charges,” Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon of the New South Wales Police said.
Police raided the Akram home in Bonnyrigg, as well as an Airbnb they were staying at in Campsie.
The older terrorist was a lawful gun owner who legally possessed six firearms. Commissioner Lanyon noted that, despite Australia’s strict gun laws, he was able to legally own the weapons because he was a member of a gun club and held a recreational hunting license. Six firearms were recovered from the scene, along with two active improvised explosive devices.
Fifteen individuals are confirmed dead during the roughly 20-minute-long terrorist attack at the Jewish event, where about 1,000 were in attendance. Another 40 people were taken to the hospital, including two police officers and four children.

According to Israel’s Channel 12, Schlanger directly addressed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese — who has frequently criticized Israel — in a letter urging him not to betray the Jewish people.
“As a rabbi in Sydney, I beg you not to betray the Jewish people and not God Himself,” Schlanger wrote. “Jews have been torn from their land again and again by leaders who are now remembered with contempt in the pages of history.”

The letter came after Australia recognized a Palestinian state, and the United Nations General Assembly voted to recognize Palestinian statehood.

President Donald Trump praised a 43-year-old man who disarmed the gunman who opened fire at a Jewish event in Australia on Sunday, saying the man “saved a lot of lives.”
Trump made the unscheduled comments during a Christmas reception at the White House, where he commented on a number of deadly attacks domestically and internationally over the weekend. At least 15 people were killed Sunday as terrorists attacked a Hanukkah celebration being held at Australia’s Bondi Beach, a popular beach in Sydney. Dozens more have been hospitalized after the attack.
“In Australia, you probably read … a very, very brave person, actually, who went and attacked frontally one of the shooters and saved a lot of lives &#8230; very brave person who&#8217;s right now in the hospital. Pretty seriously wounded. So, I have great respect to that man that did that,” Trump said.
Trump was referring to the actions of a man identified as Ahmed al-Ahmad, a father of two and fruit shop owner, who can be seen on video charging one of the terrorists, tackling him to the ground, and ripping a weapon from his hands.

The president&#8217;s response came after Pentagon spokesman and Army Ranger veteran Sean Parnell shared a few details about the attack — holding back the identities of those killed in order to allow for their loved ones to be notified.
&#8220;Today in Palmyra, Syria, two United States Army soldiers and one civilian U.S. interpreter were killed, and three were wounded. The attack occurred as the soldiers were conducting a key leader engagement,&#8221; Parnell posted via X. &#8220;Their mission was in support of on-going counter-ISIS / counter-terrorism operations in the region.&#8221;
&#8220;The soldiers’ names, as well as identifying information about their units, are being withheld until 24 hours after the next of kin notification. This attack is currently under active investigation,&#8221; he added.
War Secretary Pete Hegseth responded as well, warning as Trump had that the United States would ensure that the guilty party had already faced lethal consequences for the attack.
&#8220;The savage who perpetrated this attack was killed by partner forces,&#8221; Hegseth declared in a follow-up post. &#8220;Let it be known, if you target Americans — anywhere in the world — you will spend the rest of your brief, anxious life knowing the United States will hunt you, find you, and ruthlessly kill you.&#8221;

Trump Promises To Retaliate After U.S. Troops Killed By ISIS In Syria

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, President Trump went into high gear talking about the necessity of deporting all third-world migrants and of stopping further third-world migration into the United States.
This has been a long time coming — Trump has been saying this for roughly a decade. One of the very first things he did during his first administration was attempt a migration moratorium on a series of countries where vetting was very, very difficult.
All of this is now coming to a head. On Thursday, President Trump said he would permanently pause all immigration from what he called third-world countries.

This happened in the aftermath of a dual set of stories, one of them being an Afghan national shooting two members of the National Guard, killing one, and the other the unbelievable story of Somali welfare fraud in the state of Minnesota.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem <a href="https://grabien.com/story?id=558818">stated</a>, “The President is absolutely determined to stop all processes at this point in time from third-world countries until we can have a thorough opportunity to go through these individuals, know that they&#8217;re here for the right intentions, and that they even should be in our country to begin with. He&#8217;s putting Americans first, their safety first.”
The State Department then immediately announced it would pause visa issuance for individuals traveling on Afghan passports, stating, “The department is taking all necessary steps to protect U.S. national security and public safety again.”
Noem said the shooting suspect, who was let in the country by the Biden administration, was later radicalized through connections already in the country, which is significantly more dangerous than just bringing people in from cultures that are non-communicative and non-coalescing with Western civilization.

If there are people being brought in who are initially somewhat friendly to the United States and then become radicalized in the United States, you have to start asking some pretty serious questions about which organizations in the United States are actually radicalizing people.
The real concern then becomes an Islamization problem inside the United States, which would fit with lone wolf attacks, ISIS-inspired attacks, or ISIS-connected attacks. Those range from the Fort Hood shooting in 2009 all the way through to the 2025 New Orleans truck attack, in which an ISIS-inspired person killed 14 people.
It&#8217;s amazing how terrorist attacks like the latter can completely be memory-holed. It happened at the beginning of this year. 14 people were killed, and we&#8217;ve already forgotten about it because the way the media works is this: If someone is inspired by ISIS or a radical Islamic group and they commit a terror attack in the United States, we simply memory-hole it.
The same thing happened in 2016 with the Orlando nightclub shooting, the deadliest mass shooting in American history at that time, in which a shooter killed 49 people. The shooter in that case pledged allegiance to ISIS.
What did we get? A national debate about whether Christians were too intolerant toward gay people, even though it was an Islamic terror attack.
There was also the 2015 San Bernardino terror attack, in which a couple of people who communicated with ISIS via encrypted messages killed 14 people and injured 22 others.
So radicalization in the United States is a massive problem that requires the FBI and the DOJ to actually follow through on what they are supposed to do: Track down the groups doing the radicalizing, follow them around, and monitor the places where the radicalization is occurring.
That is a significantly harder problem to solve than shutting the borders, which is what President Trump is attempting to do. They are not mutually exclusive. You can shut the borders to immigration and mass migration from third-world countries. We should also track down the groups doing the radicalizing.
In the National Guard case, it seems that the shooter became radicalized after he came to the United States.
The New York Post reports that a leading national refugee agency was warned multiple times about him. Apparently, the shooter&#8217;s behavior was so disturbing that a local community advocate reached out to a refugee organization for help.
This connects with another gigantic story that broke over the course of last week, the amount of Somali welfare fraud in Minnesota. Between 1990 and 2025, the United States has seen significant Somali immigration, with estimates suggesting between 140,000 and 167,000 Somali immigrants settling here.
The fraud scandal in Minnesota is staggering. Over $1 billion in taxpayers’ money was reputedly stolen, more than Minnesota spends annually to run its entire Department of Corrections. The reality is that importing gigantic waves of Somali immigrants into Minnesota, of all places, might create some culture clash.
Reports say that when the allegations were first made about welfare fraud in Minnesota, the first response was, “We can&#8217;t look into this. It&#8217;s racist.”
So President Trump has responded to all of this by doubling down on his suggestion that third-world migration be reversed.
Douglas Murray has a great <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/11/27/opinion/afghan-terror-and-somalia-fraud-shows-why-trump-is-right-on-migrants/">column</a> over in the New York Post in which he states:

You cannot just leave borders open, or allow in large numbers of people with totally different value systems from your own. That is the mistake many European countries have committed in recent years. They have opened their homes up to people from almost every part of the world where there is civil strife, war or just a lower standard of living.
The results can be seen everywhere. It is the reason why a country like Sweden — that used to be such a placid, decent place — has become one of the most violent countries in the world not actually at war. Grenade attacks, gang-warfare: these things were recently alien to Sweden. Not anymore. It is the same here in the United States — though here the effects are more dispersed, so the problem can be covered up for longer.</blockquote>
He writes that all of this begs the question: Why should a group of people be given sanctuary in the United States, who presumably say they were fleeing from terror, only to use their time in the United States committing fraud to send money to terrorists?
The president of the United States is right about this particular issue.
Democrats, of course, are freaking out about it.
It&#8217;s all coming to a head now, and not just because of the recent shooting of National Guard members in Washington, D.C., or what&#8217;s happening in Minnesota.
It’s happening all over the West because the West has finally decided to wake up to the reality that — through our niceness, kindness, and civility — we should never have allowed our nations to be eaten from within by people who enter and then take advantage of all the benefits, only to fight and destroy that same civilization.

Two privileged young men from Montclair, New Jersey, one the child of a United Nations diplomat and one the child of a professor at Queens College, now stand at the center of a hate-fueled terror plot that shattered the illusion of safety in suburban New Jersey.
Nineteen-year-old Milo Sedarat, whose father, Roger, is a poet and professor at Queens College, <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/11/06/us-news/accused-nj-jihadi-yuppie-teen-spewed-vile-antisemitic-hate-wanted-to-murder-moms-jewish-friends-feds/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dubbed himself</a> “the biggest antisemite in America.” His home — a million-dollar Victorian on a tree-lined street — became the backdrop for his vicious selfies: clad in black, sword and knife in hand, dreaming of killing Jews. Court filings allege that Sedarat glorified genocide in online messages, while saying, “Line up like 500 Jews and execute them in front of their wives and family. Then take all their wives [as] slaves. Imma have like 10 yahood (Jewish) slave girls inshallah.”
Prosecutors say he even told his mother her Jewish friends “deserve to die” before she confiscated his swords.
The second suspect, Tomas Kaan Jimenez-Guzel, also 19, is the son of a United Nations diplomat focused on women’s entrepreneurship. He, too, reveled in violence, boasting about wanting to stage a Boston Marathon–style bombing that would make him infamous enough for a Wikipedia page. Jimenez-Guzel allegedly offered to lead beheadings for propaganda videos, declaring, “I’ll do it, bro.”
According to federal agents, he was arrested at Newark Airport en route to Turkey, trying to join ISIS forces in Syria.

Investigators say their online chats tied them to a wider ISIS-linked network; five others have been detained across New Jersey, Michigan, and Washington in connection with plans to massacre Jews and LGBT clubgoers. Rabbi Yaacov Leaf of Chabad of Montclair voiced the community’s disbelief: “It’s so shocking to see how such a radical ideology can be living in your backyard. It’s frightening to realize this type of hate has seeped into our suburban liberal community … It’s a diverse community where we are open to every type of human being and every type of belief system. To see that hate has found its way into the community is very frightening.”
Acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba echoed the alarm, saying that radicalization now spares no zip code. “We can never believe this can’t touch us,” she warned. “We run down every lead, no matter where it starts.”

Rich New Jersey Teen Plotted ISIS-Inspired Terror While Living Large

Federal law enforcement arrested three more Islamic terror suspects linked to an ISIS-inspired plot to attack bars and nightclubs in Detroit on Halloween, the FBI announced Wednesday. 
Last week, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/michigan-terror-suspects-plotted-to-target-bars-nightclubs-during-halloween-celebrations-fbi-says?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=7&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Michigan+Terror+Suspects+Plotted+To+Target+Bars%2C+Nightclubs+During+Halloween+Celebrations%2C+FBI+Says">the FBI said agents arrested</a> four suspects accused of plotting an attack they hoped would mimic the 2015 Paris terrorist massacre that left 130 people dead. On Wednesday, three more men, two in New Jersey and one in Michigan, were hit with charges. 
The two New Jersey suspects are Milo Sedarat and Tomas Kaan Jimenez-Guzel, both from Montclair. Jimenez-Guzel was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport on his way to travel to Syria to join ISIS fighters, a law enforcement official <a href="https://www.wsj.com/us-news/more-arrests-are-made-in-alleged-isis-pumpkin-terrorist-plot-6fe5e4d6?gaa_at=eafs&amp;gaa_n=AWEtsqfzLC43UvlROLGVKWI6hHud_-UTTKntEYZCGUkC4NKLla1JGlpKm7CYL98meVM%3D&amp;gaa_ts=690c9a87&amp;gaa_sig=bA3S8rI0TsYbEpPSJ1ELJNSb3VfMnBcubWzfYfqmdj-FNYgBKa2Zxz18AlpN8A4p0KXmFfQGEG9mz0xQp04Shg%3D%3D">told</a> The Wall Street Journal. 
Jimenez-Guzel has been charged with conspiring to provide material support to a designated terrorist organization. Acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba <a href="https://x.com/USAttyHabba/status/1986190944903803305">said</a> that law enforcement obtained a photo of Jimenez-Guzel posing in front of an ISIS flag with a knife. 
A law enforcement official told the Journal that Jimenez-Guzel was aware of the plans for the Halloween attack in Detroit and had previously visited the suspects planning that attack. Those suspects were named as Mohmed Ali and Majed Mahmoud. Two juveniles have also been charged but have not been named. 
Sedarat has been charged with transmitting threats to interstate and foreign commerce. 
The complaint against him “describes a pattern of antisemitic messages advocating violence, along with images and purchases consistent with preparation for attack, including a knife and sword collection, tactical gear, and images of him practicing at a gun range,” Habba said. 
Habba added that both men had “pledged themselves to ISIS, and were plotting acts of terrorism in our country,” according to the criminal complaint. 
“Protecting the District of New Jersey and the United States, its people, its neighborhoods and its institutions is the core mission of our office. With our partners at the FBI and main Justice, we will continue to move swiftly and decisively whenever terrorism or hate threatens our communities,” she said. 
After the announcement of the New Jersey arrests, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said that another suspect had been arrested on Wednesday. 
“Today [FBI Detroit] and partners arrested a third additional suspect in connection to the alleged foiled terrorist attack in Michigan last week. Our investigation suggests this individual had been providing material support in preparation for the attack, inspired by ISIS,” he wrote on X. “They are now in custody. More to come. Thank you to the men and women who continue to work this case diligently.”
That suspect was identified as 19-year-old Ayob Nasser of Dearborn, Michigan. Nasser has been charged with conspiring to provide material support to ISIS and having firearms that would be used to commit an act of terrorism on behalf of ISIS. 
According to law enforcement, the suspects were all in a Signal chat together where they discussed ways to support ISIS.
“We will not stop. We will follow the tentacles where they lead. We will continue to stand guard with the FBI against terrorism,” said U.S. Attorney Jerome Gorgon, Jr.

FBI Nabs Three More Men Tied To ISIS-Inspired Halloween Terror Plot

When the president announced that we might soon be taking &#8220;sweet&#8221; military action inside Nigeria, as he put it — in addition to cutting off all foreign aid to the country — he raised a lot of very urgent questions that need to be answered. The first question, of course, is what exactly this &#8220;sweet&#8221; military action will look like. Nigeria doesn&#8217;t have much in the way of anti-air technology, nor is its military capable of defeating LSU&#8217;s football team, much less the U.S. Army. So the options are pretty much limitless on this front — especially if you&#8217;re not a fan of the mercy rule or playing remotely fair. We could film the next Top Gun movie over West Africa in the next few weeks if we wanted to. And whatever you think of those movies, no serious person contests the fact that they featured some pretty sweet scenes.
The other important question that&#8217;s raised by Trump&#8217;s remarks is: Why are we sending any foreign aid to Nigeria to begin with? Why is there any foreign aid to suspend? When I asked that question yesterday, I genuinely had no idea what the answer was. I was aware of statistics showing that, since 2021, we&#8217;ve been sending roughly a billion dollars — yes, a billion dollars — every single year to Nigeria. And for the decade before that, we were giving them a half-billion dollars every year. Most of that money is supposedly earmarked for &#8220;humanitarian&#8221; and &#8220;economic&#8221; purposes.

And yet, if you look at the current state of Nigeria, it&#8217;s not doing so well, despite receiving all of that money from your checking account. It <a href="https://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/news/78" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/news/78&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1762364623124000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1LjBmIOUR6XmcQuhn_ZinR">turns out</a> that, according to the latest estimates from the United Nations Development Program, &#8220;63% of persons living within Nigeria (133 million people) are multidimensionally poor.&#8221;
Yes, you read that correctly. Sixty-three percent of Nigerians are &#8220;multidimensionally poor.&#8221; This is not, despite what you may think, a situation where Nigerians are so poor that they&#8217;ve entered another dimension. Apparently, according to the United Nations, being &#8220;multidimensionally poor&#8221; means that, in addition to having no money, you also have poor health, poor education, poor living standards, poor sanitation, poor housing, and poor access to electricity. In other words, being &#8220;multidimensionally poor&#8221; means you&#8217;re poor. And apparently, it also means that you&#8217;re entitled to billions of dollars from American taxpayers.
And that&#8217;s not all they&#8217;ve been receiving. Whether they exist in this dimension or not, Nigerians have also been receiving a very different kind of aid from the United States. It&#8217;s not all &#8220;humanitarian aid.&#8221; They&#8217;ve also been receiving very expensive planes.

In 2017, the first Trump administration <a href="https://qz.com/africa/1064752/boko-haram-nigeria-has-purchased-593-million-worth-of-military-gear-from-the-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://qz.com/africa/1064752/boko-haram-nigeria-has-purchased-593-million-worth-of-military-gear-from-the-us&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1762364623124000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1RolYFIgQtkWHke0jpQ0RB">sold a dozen</a> A-29 &#8220;Super Tucano&#8221; aircraft to Nigeria for $600 million, on the theory that they&#8217;d be useful in the Nigerian government&#8217;s fight against Boko Haram, the Islamist militant group. These &#8220;Super Tucanos&#8221; are turboprop aircraft that are mainly used for close-air support.
At the time, the Trump administration thought it would be a good idea to equip Nigeria&#8217;s air force with these fighters because Boko Haram (and other militant jihadi groups) had been slaughtering Christians and burning down churches since 2009. And Nigeria&#8217;s government clearly needed more firepower to deal with the insurgency.
To be clear, though, it wasn&#8217;t an idea that originated with the Trump administration. In 2016, a year before the Trump administration completed the sale of the fighters, the Obama administration had indicated that it was going to send these aircraft to Nigeria. But they backed out after Nigeria&#8217;s military bombed a civilian refugee camp by mistake, killing 90 people. Then, a few months later, the Trump administration took over, and they completed the transaction.
In the end, though, Boko Haram wasn&#8217;t defeated. Neither were other major Islamic militant groups in Nigeria. Several years after they obtained the planes from the U.S. military, the mass murder of Christians didn&#8217;t stop in Nigeria. In fact, it intensified. By some estimates — and I stress that these are very rough estimates — well over 24,000 Christians were killed in Nigeria from 2021 to 2025, while around 10,000 Christians were killed from 2017 to 2020. Every year, according to conservative estimates, at least 4,000 Christians are <a href="https://globalchristianrelief.org/resources/countries/nigeria/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://globalchristianrelief.org/resources/countries/nigeria/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1762364623124000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0GghmYY57ndyaI1J_Hcnr5">killed</a> because of their faith in Nigeria — more than in every other country in the world, combined. Many of these Islamist attacks take place in churches, farms, and villages.

TERRIFYING: Christians are being hunted like animals in Nigeria.
An Islamist group invaded a Christian village and started shooting everyone in sight.
They are killing Christians on Eid and offering them as human sacrifices.
The media remains silent.

In response to footage like this, and the massacres of Christians, here&#8217;s the framing you&#8217;ll see in the mainstream press. This is from the AP. See if you can spot the hole in the logic <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nigeria-christian-killings-claims-ted-cruz-insecurity-e9d2fb7ae02bd3169194fb60872bb3d4">here</a>:
<blockquote>While Christians are among those targeted, analysts say the majority of victims of armed groups are Muslims in Nigeria’s Muslim-majority north, where most attacks occur&#8230;. Analysts say Nigeria’s complex security dynamics do not meet the legal definition of a genocide.</blockquote>
Then there&#8217;s this analysis from an esteemed professor at NYU in the same piece:
<blockquote>If anything, what we are witnessing is mass killings, which are not targeted against a specific group,” said Olajumoke Ayandele, an assistant professor at New York University’s Center for Global Affairs who specializes in conflict studies. &#8216;The drumming-up of genocide might worsen the situation because everyone is going to be on alert.&#8217;</blockquote>
In other words, according to the AP and this professor at NYU, Christians aren&#8217;t being targeted for extermination by Muslims, because both Christians and Muslims are being killed in large numbers by extremist groups. That&#8217;s the logic. It&#8217;s not just Christians who are dying. Therefore, Christians aren&#8217;t being massacred. It&#8217;s a bit like saying innocent people aren&#8217;t being targeted by the Joker, because the Joker also kills some of his henchmen when they make him angry.
The problem, of course, is that in both cases that the AP is talking about, the Muslims are the ones who are doing the killing. Christians aren&#8217;t raiding Muslim farms and mosques and massacring everyone. Christians aren&#8217;t lining up Muslims and shooting them in the head because they won&#8217;t convert.
Muslims are committing those atrocities against Christians. And yes, they&#8217;re also killing moderate Muslims. They&#8217;re killing Muslims they disagree with. And on top of that, they&#8217;re also killing Christians, as part of their explicit goal of religious conquest and worldwide jihad. There&#8217;s an ISIS affiliate that&#8217;s active in northeast Nigeria right now, called Islamic State – West Africa Province, or ISWAP, and they&#8217;re currently in the process of murdering and enslaving Christian men, women, and children on their way to establishing a new caliphate. They&#8217;re one of the most powerful ISIS groups anywhere in the world. That&#8217;s the part of the story the AP would rather skip over, as they attempt to &#8220;both sides&#8221; this ongoing slaughter.
But you can&#8217;t skip over that part of the story because it&#8217;s clearly relevant to how the United States should respond. Think about the rise of ISIS in Iraq a decade ago. Obama declared that they weren&#8217;t a big threat. He called ISIS the &#8220;JV team.&#8221; Then, just six months later, ISIS took over huge swaths of Syria and Iraq and said they were going to start a new caliphate. And it wasn&#8217;t until Donald Trump took office and dramatically intensified the Pentagon&#8217;s attacks on ISIS in 2017 that they were finally defeated in both Iraq and Syria.
This is an example of a targeted American military intervention overseas that had a clear, tangible positive result for Americans — by eliminating an organization that was committed to conducting acts of terrorism on our soil — while also saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of Christians. And make no mistake about it: Keeping Christians alive, wherever they may be, is clearly in the best interests of the United States. To that end, Donald Trump did not wage an endless war in the Middle East. It was a campaign that every reasonable person in the country thought was appropriate and justified.
What Trump is proposing to do now — as he says we&#8217;re going to carry out a &#8220;sweet&#8221; attack in Nigeria, going in &#8220;guns blazing&#8221; — is to follow the exact same strategy he used to great effect in his first administration. We have precedent showing that ISIS (and other Islamic militant groups) can be shut down, and very quickly. So why are Democrats opposing Trump&#8217;s apparent plan to attack Islamic terrorists in Nigeria?
One reason, of course, is that Democrats aren&#8217;t bothered by the persecution of Christians. They welcome it. After all, they persecute Christians within the borders of this country. Why would they care about Christians who are being slaughtered 5,000 miles away?
But there&#8217;s also something to be said for how Nigeria, in the eyes of Democrats, is a big success story for &#8220;democracy.&#8221; And they&#8217;re willing to cling to this mythology at all costs, no matter how many Christians need to die as a result. Every other month, the Biden administration would put out <a href="https://bidenwhitehouse.archives.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/05/29/statement-from-president-joe-biden-sending-warm-wishes-on-the-occasion-of-president-tinubus-inauguration-in-nigeria/#:~:text=As%20Africa's%20largest%20democracy%20and,can%20deliver%20for%20their%20needs." target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://bidenwhitehouse.archives.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/05/29/statement-from-president-joe-biden-sending-warm-wishes-on-the-occasion-of-president-tinubus-inauguration-in-nigeria/%23:~:text%3DAs%2520Africa's%2520largest%2520democracy%2520and,can%2520deliver%2520for%2520their%2520needs.&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1762364623124000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1ZW0h5TzIG7rcf0Lg_xDad">statements</a> about how Nigeria is &#8220;Africa&#8217;s largest democracy.&#8221; Go to the archived version of the White House website, and you&#8217;ll find about a dozen of them. And Nigeria&#8217;s president at the time, Muhammadu Buhari, returned the favor.
Buhari was one of the first world leaders to <a href="https://x.com/MBuhari/status/1325174546496811009">declare</a> that Joe Biden had won the 2020 election:
<blockquote>Congratulations to US President-Elect Joe Biden on his election at a time of uncertainty and fear in world affairs. His election is a reminder that democracy is the best form of government because it offers the people the opportunity to change their government by peaceful means.</blockquote>
So the messaging is pretty clear, from both sides. &#8220;Democracy,&#8221; as we all remember, was the Democrats&#8217; top buzzword for the past few years. They couldn&#8217;t stop throwing the word around. They said the United States is a democracy. They said Nigeria is a democracy. They said your local dentist&#8217;s office is a democracy. And in every single case, Democrats were using the word &#8220;democracy&#8221; to describe some of the most undemocratic practices imaginable. Of course, in this country, they went on about the importance of &#8220;democracy&#8221; as they attempted to imprison (and murder) the leading presidential candidate, along with everyone who ever worked for him. In Nigeria, they pontificated about democracy even as the state lost its monopoly on the use of force, and as Islamist terrorist groups seized control of large portions of the country.
But Nigeria isn&#8217;t really a democracy. It&#8217;s a failed state where Christians are being hunted en masse. And you have to ask yourself: If the entire corporate media and the Democratic Party are willing to lie to you about what&#8217;s happening in Nigeria, why wouldn&#8217;t they excuse the same type of massacre in this country? It would be one thing if they tried to claim that foreign entanglements are inherently risky, or that we don&#8217;t want to risk the lives of U.S. servicemembers, or that we can solve all of Nigeria&#8217;s problems — all of their &#8220;multidimensional poverty&#8221; — by sending them a little more money.
But they&#8217;re not doing any of that. They&#8217;re telling you that Christians aren&#8217;t actually being gunned down, even though it&#8217;s happening on camera. Whatever Donald Trump chooses to do in Nigeria, Christians in this country — and all over the world — should never forget that. The people who want you dead aren&#8217;t just in Boko Haram, ISWAP, or ISIS. They&#8217;re not 5,000 miles away. They&#8217;re trying to return to power. They&#8217;re running in several major elections today, in fact. If that sounds like an overstatement — ask yourself, how are Christians <a href="https://persecution.org/2024/04/08/six-christians-killed-on-good-friday-in-somalia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://persecution.org/2024/04/08/six-christians-killed-on-good-friday-in-somalia/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1762364623124000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2FPHN6xZxnbEdkXEZx05_g">treated</a> in Somalia? It&#8217;s one of the most dangerous countries in the world for Christians. They&#8217;re murdered (and beheaded) for their faith all the time. Last Good Friday, Islamist militants shot six Christians in the shop where they worked, before torching the shop. What do you think happens when major cities in this country become indistinguishable from Somalia?
If they win today&#8217;s elections, with the help of millions of imported foreign voters, in Democrats&#8217; eyes, it&#8217;ll be a major victory for &#8220;democracy.&#8221; What they won&#8217;t tell you is that their ideal version of democracy isn&#8217;t anything Ben Franklin or Thomas Jefferson had in mind. It&#8217;s Nigeria and Somalia&#8217;s definition of &#8220;democracy.&#8221; And one election in New York or Minneapolis at a time, we&#8217;re on our way to getting just that.
