<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/infowars" target="_blank" rel="noopener">InfoWars</a> host Owen Shroyer received a 60-day sentence in prison on Tuesday for his role in the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6 that prosecutors claim he &#8220;helped create.&#8221;
&#8220;In the months prior to January 6, Shroyer spread election disinformation paired with violent rhetoric to hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of viewers,&#8221; prosecutors wrote in <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.234903/gov.uscourts.dcd.234903.49.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">court filings</a>.
Shroyer, the 34-year-old host of &#8220;The War Room With Owen Shroyer&#8221; on Alex Jones&#8217; media platform, never entered the federal building on that infamous day, but was still punished by prosecutors because he previously signed a deferred prosecution agreement after interrupting a House Judiciary Committee hearing for then-President Trump&#8217;s impeachment proceedings hearing in 2019.
As part of the agreement, Shroyer consented not to &#8220;utter loud, threatening, or abusive language or engage in any disorderly or disruptive conduct&#8221; anywhere on the United States Capitol Grounds or within any of the Capitol Buildings.
But according to court filings, Shroyer warned in November 2020 that if Joe Biden became president, &#8220;it&#8217;s not going to be a million peaceful marchers in D.C.&#8221; Then, on January 6, the media personality took to a megaphone before leading a crowd to the Capitol.
&#8220;The Democrats are posing as communists, but we know what they really are,&#8221; Shroyer said on a bullhorn, according to court filings. &#8220;They&#8217;re just tyrants, they&#8217;re tyrants. And so today, on January 6, we declare death to tyranny! Death to tyrants!&#8221;
According to <a href="https://apnews.com/article/owen-shroyer-infowars-capitol-riot-sentencing-11cb087e9716061591fd46b6861c4c1c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Associated Press</a>, Shroyer pleaded guilty in June to illegally entering a restricted area, a misdemeanor punishable by a maximum sentence of one year behind bars.
During Tuesday&#8217;s sentencing hearing, NBC <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/infowars-host-owen-shroyer-sentenced-jan-6-case-rcna104378" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Shroyer told the court, &#8220;I was not a part of any larger plan for illegal activity or violence that day.&#8221;

&#8220;It was to get the attention and draw the crowds away,&#8221; he said, according to The Associated Press.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly, who just last week handed down a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/enrique-tarrio-sentenced-to-decades-behind-bars-the-longest-j6-sentence-to-date" target="_blank" rel="noopener">22-year sentence</a> in federal prison to Proud Boys founder Enrique Tarrio for his role in the Capitol breach, told the InfoWars host that he &#8220;amped up&#8221; the crowd on the Capitol steps.
&#8220;Context is everything,&#8221; the judge said. &#8220;I do not believe that you were trying to distract the crowd or turn the crowd away from the Capitol.&#8221;
Prosecutors asked the court to sentence Shroyer to 120 days in prison, including 12 months of supervised release, 60 hours of community service, and $500 in restitution.
&#8220;Such a sentence protects the community, promotes respect for the law, and deters future crime by imposing restrictions on his liberty as a consequence of his behavior, while recognizing his acceptance of responsibility for his crime,&#8221; the prosecution wrote.
Shroyer&#8217;s defense team requested in <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.234903/gov.uscourts.dcd.234903.46.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">court filings</a> on Sunday that the judge spare him incarceration, saying the case had been &#8220;characterized by a cooperative spirit between the defense and the Government,&#8221; adding their client complied with federal inspectors to search his cell phone without a warrant.
&#8220;But when Mr. Shroyer appeared at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, he wore two hats: one was that of outraged citizen who believed that an election had been rigged, the other as full-time journalist and commentator who sought a front-row seat at an historic event,&#8221; the defense wrote.
Defense attorney Norm Pattis for Shroyer said he planned to appeal the sentence and has repeatedly accused prosecutors of infringing on his client&#8217;s First Amendment rights.
&#8220;Mr. Shroyer, and every person capable of speaking in the United States, has a right to utter the speech Mr. Shroyer used. That the Government would suggest otherwise is a frightening commentary on our times,&#8221; Pattis wrote in a court filing on Sunday.
But prosecutors argue the charges against Shroyer do not infringe on his free speech rights.
&#8220;Shroyer cannot light a fire near a can of gasoline, and then express concern or disbelief when it explodes,&#8221; they wrote.
A date was not immediately set for Shroyer to report to prison.
The Associated Press reported that Shroyer joins more than 1,100 people charged with Capitol breach-related federal crimes, of which over 650 have pleaded guilty, more than 600 were sentenced, and half received terms ranging from three days to 22 years.

The conspiracy theorist filed the Chapter 11 documents with the Southern District of Texas months after Free Speech Systems, the parent company of Infowars, also folded over the summer, according to a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/02/us/politics/alex-jones-bankruptcy.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from The New York Times. Jones had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/alex-jones-gets-assets-frozen-now-has-to-pay-almost-1-5-billion-to-sandy-hook-families" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asserted</a> for years that the 2012 attack, in which the shooter murdered 26 people, including 20 children, was a false flag operation meant to help the government confiscate citizens’ firearms. He was ordered last month to fork over $473 million on top of the $965 million he had already been ordered to pay.
Jones owns between $1 million and $10 million in assets, but owes between $1 billion and $10 billion in liabilities, according to a <a href="https://www.axios.com/2022/12/02/alex-jones-bankrupt-infowars-chapter-11-bankruptcy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from Axios. The commentator owes money to between 50 and 99 parties.
News of the bankruptcy broke one day after Jones <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kanye-ye-west-i-like-hitler-i-see-good-things-about-hitler-stop-dissing-the-nazis-he-didnt-kill-6-million" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hosted</a> rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes on his show. During the program, Ye praised Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler in his latest tirade against Jewish people, leading Twitter CEO Elon Musk to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/elon-musk-suspends-kanye-ye-west-from-twitter-issues-1-word-statement-after-his-decision" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suspend</a> the former husband of Kim Kardashian from the platform.
The bankruptcy further decreases the likelihood that Jones will be able to make the payments to the Sandy Hook families, who he accused of working as crisis actors for the federal government. Christopher Mattei, a lawyer representing the Sandy Hook families, had celebrated the most recent decision mandating that Jones reimburse the parents in an <a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisMatteiCT/status/1590778197834010624" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcement</a> posted to social media. “Justice requires that he pay every penny,” he said.
Connecticut Judge Barbara Bellis said in a ruling that Jones’ actions were “cruel” and “persistent” over an extended period of time, establishing “the highest degree of reprehensibility and blameworthiness.” A separate order prohibited Jones from moving assets out of the country.
“The record clearly supports the plaintiffs’ argument that the defendants’ conduct was intentional and malicious, and certain to cause harm by virtue of their infrastructure, ability to spread content, and massive audience including the ‘infowarriors,’” Bellis wrote. “The record also establishes that the defendants repeated the conduct and attacks on the plaintiffs for nearly a decade, including during the trial, wanton, malicious, and heinous conduct that caused harm to the plaintiffs.”

A separate jury in Texas ordered Jones to pay $4.1 million in compensatory damages and $45.2 million in punitive damages, a figure that may be reduced as a result of state laws capping the size of the penalty. Families of the Sandy Hook victims began taking legal action against Jones, as well as Free Speech Systems, the parent company of Infowars, four years ago.

Jones had asserted for years that the 2012 attack, in which the shooter murdered 26 people, including 20 children, was a hoax meant to help the federal government confiscate citizens’ firearms. The conspiracy theorist must pay a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-alex-jones-ordered-to-pay-nearly-1-billion-to-families-of-sandy-hook-victims" target="_blank" rel="noopener">combined</a> $1.44 billion to the victims’ families.
“The record clearly supports the plaintiffs’ argument that the defendants’ conduct was intentional and malicious, and certain to cause harm by virtue of their infrastructure, ability to spread content, and massive audience including the ‘infowarriors,’” Connecticut Judge Barbara Bellis wrote in her ruling. “The record also establishes that the defendants repeated the conduct and attacks on the plaintiffs for nearly a decade, including during the trial, wanton, malicious, and heinous conduct that caused harm to the plaintiffs. This depravity, and cruel, persistent course of conduct by the defendants establishes the highest degree of reprehensibility and blameworthiness.”
Christopher Mattei, a lawyer representing the Sandy Hook families, celebrated the decision in an <a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisMatteiCT/status/1590778197834010624" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcement</a> posted to social media. Jones had claimed that the parents of the slaughtered children were crisis actors. “Justice requires that he pay every penny,” he said.
A separate one-page order prohibited Jones from relocating assets out of the country. “With the exception of ordinary living expenses, the defendant Alex Jones is not to transfer, encumber, dispose, or move his assets out of the United States, until further order of the court,” Bellis said.
The latest verdict also follows a ruling from a separate jury in Texas, which ordered Jones to pay $4.1 million in compensatory damages and $45.2 million in punitive damages, a figure that may be reduced due to state laws capping the size of the penalty. Families of the Sandy Hook victims began taking legal action against Jones, as well as Free Speech Systems, the parent company of Infowars, four years ago.
Prosecutors in the Connecticut lawsuit argued that the sanction was derived from the number of impressions Jones had garnered online for his claims. “You may say that is astronomical. It is,” Mattei told jurors. “It’s exactly what Alex Jones set himself up to do. That’s what he built. He built a lie machine that could push this stuff out. You reap what you sow.”

Parents of children killed in the mass shooting at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/sandy-hook" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sandy Hook Elementary School</a> in 2012 have asked a federal bankruptcy court Thursday to order Infowars host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alex-jones" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alex Jones</a> to surrender control over his media company.
According to a <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/25/us/politics/alex-jones-lawsuits-bankruptcy.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> by The New York Times, Sandy Hook victims have accused Jones of funneling millions of dollars to himself and family members while claiming his pockets are empty.
“Alex Jones is not financially bankrupt; he is morally bankrupt, which is becoming more and more clear as we discover his plots to hide money and evade responsibility,” Kyle Farrar, a lawyer for the families, said, according to The New York Times. “He used lies to amass a fortune, and now he is using lies and fiction to shield his money.”
According to <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://ecf.txsb.uscourts.gov/doc1/178148499722?pdf_header=&amp;magic_num=90489165&amp;de_seq_num=363&amp;caseid=457706&amp;att_num=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filings</a> in the Houston bankruptcy court, nine Sandy Hook victims&#8217; families have urged a trustee to take control of Infowar&#8217;s parent company, Free Speech Systems, which owes $54 million to PQPR Holdings, which has ties to Jones and his parents.
The families&#8217; lawyers called the debt “a centerpiece of Jones&#8217;s plan to avoid compensating the Sandy Hook families.”
Holdings has “no services, has no employees and has no warehouse,” the Sandy Hook lawyers claimed, adding that “money that Free Speech Systems pays PQPR ends up in Alex Jones&#8217;s pockets.”
Jones allegedly transferred approximately $62 million from his company to several accounts linked to himself and family members when the Sandy Hook families filed the lawsuit against him in 2018.
R.J. Shannon, a lawyer for Jones, said the team would file a response “soon,” with no further comment, according to The New York Times.
Earlier this month, a Texas jury <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-jury-orders-alex-jones-to-pay-tens-of-millions-to-parents-of-sandy-hook-victim">ordered</a> Jones to pay $45.2 million in punitive damages to the parents of a 6-year-old child killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting.
The hefty charge comes on top of another $4.1 million compensatory charge that the jury <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-alex-jones-fined-4-1-million-in-sandy-hook-defamation-trial">directed</a> Jones to pay to Scarlett Lewis and Neil Heslin, the parents of 6-year-old Jesse, who was killed at Sandy Hook alongside 19 other children and six educators. The trial is the first of three over conspiratorial comments Jones allegedly made following the Sandy Hook tragedy, denying it had happened.
Jones will sit for two more trials next month, one more in Texas and another in Delaware, and face the families of more victims of the Sandy Hook massacre. The families allege that Jones defamed them in the aftermath of the tragedy.
During the trial, Jones testified that the media and his critics had never allowed him to take back his comments, despite his retractions and admissions that he was wrong.
Heslin said that “the negligence and recklessness of Alex Jones” had made his life a “living hell.”

Infowars founder Alex Jones on Sunday filed for voluntary Chapter 11 after losing lawsuits filed by parents of children killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, according to reports.
The conspiracy website filed for bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/alex-jones-infowars-files-bankruptcy-us-court-2022-04-18/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/alex-jones-infowars-files-bankruptcy-us-court-2022-04-18/">according</a> to Reuters. If the request is approved, the website can continue to operate while it sets up a plan to reorganize. The move would also suspend further civil litigation.
On his radio show, as well as Infowars.com, Jones claimed the December 14, 2012, shooting at the elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut &#8212; which killed 20 first graders and six educators &#8212; was a “hoax” staged by &#8220;crisis actors.&#8221; He said their intent was to spur more opposition to the Second Amendment.
Over the last year, the far-right host was found liable for damages in at least three defamation cases brought by families of the victims, and several other suits are pending.
Jones offered to settle the lawsuits by paying $120,000 to each plaintiff, but the families rejected the proposal, The Hill <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/wire/600305-sandy-hook-families-reject-alex-jones-settlement-offer/">reported</a>. No damages have yet been assessed, but a trial to set them is scheduled to begin in August.
Last month, Jones was fined $75,000 when he did not appear for a deposition in a defamation case, but a judge refunded the money when Jones appeared.
&#8220;Alex Jones is just delaying the inevitable: a public trial in which he will be held accountable for his profit-driven campaign of lies against the Sandy Hook families who have brought this lawsuit,” Christopher Mattei, who represents the families in a Connecticut lawsuit against Jones, said at the time, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/alex-jones-infowars-bankruptcy-filing-1a3b51946cb06c5f90c341d3118947cf">according</a> to the Associated Press.
&#8220;Another newly filed <a class="" href="https://apnews.com/article/business-alex-jones-austin-texas-lawsuits-00b6df5205d733e31bfc1e4377edcd26">lawsuit</a> accuses Jones of hiding millions of dollars in assets, but an attorney for Jones has called that allegation &#8216;ridiculous.'&#8221; the AP reported.
That lawsuit claims Jones is hiding money and that he drew $18 million from Infowars over the last three years.
“After Alex Jones was sued for claiming the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary was a hoax, the infamous conspiracy theorist conspired to divert his assets to shell companies owned by insiders like his parents, his children, and himself,” says the lawsuit, which was filed in Austin, Texas, by more families of the Sandy Hook victims.
&#8220;According to the lawsuit, Jones is accused of drawing about $18 million from his Infowars company over three years, starting in 2018 when the defamation lawsuits were filed. Jones is also accused of claiming a &#8216;dubious&#8217; $54 million debt around that time to another company, which the lawsuit alleges is indirectly or directly owned by Jones.&#8221;
The wire service cited Norm Pattis, an attorney for Jones, who said no one is hiding assets. &#8220;The suggestion is ridiculous. We look forward to litigating these issues,” Pattis said.

Alex Jones’ Infowars Files For Bankruptcy Over Sandy Hook Defamation Lawsuits

On Sunday, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) had Inforwars reporter Kaitlin Bennett booted from an event described by Team Sanders as open to the public. While the removal of Bennett is troubling on its face, since the 23-year-old is part of the media, it was ironically argued that Bennett, who did nothing disruptive at all, had to go because the event was paid for by the socialist hero and they have the freedom to associate with whomever they so choose without coercion.
This seems rather inconsistent with Sanders&#8217; ideology, to put it mildly.
&#8220;I am a conservative journalist and was just ejected from a [Bernie Sanders] rally for expressing my 1st amendment. I was just sitting there and was told I had to leave, with no reason given except that his campaign didn&#8217;t want me there. THIS is actual fascism,&#8221; Bennett protested via Twitter, captioning a video of her encounter with a man who was seemingly a rep for Sanders&#8217; team.
In the corresponding video, Bennett is seen sitting down at the event when she is approached by a male rep from Team Sanders informing her that she must leave the premises. In response, the reporter contends that the event is open to the public per Sanders&#8217; website and asks for reasoning concerning her ejection.
&#8220;So, I&#8217;m being ejected from a public event?&#8221; Bennett asks for clarification.
Ironically, the Sanders rep tells Bennett that it is an event that they paid for and can have her kicked out if they want to.
&#8220;Ma&#8217;am, this is an event that we paid, this is an event we&#8217;ve bought the space for.&#8221;
In a follow-up tweet captioning an encounter the 23-year-old had with security manning the event, Bennett wrote, &#8220;The police officer agreed with me that I did nothing wrong, but booted me anyway. On my way out, the private security officer told me he supports me but has to do his job.&#8221;
&#8220;Thank you [Bernie Sanders] for exposing how intolerant the left really is towards dissenting opinions,&#8221; she added.

She&#8217;s since been criticized for displaying antagonizing behavior in on-the-street reporting segments for Infowars. But, again, the Sanders team booted Bennett without even offering an explanation.
Journalist Andy Ngo protested Bennett&#8217;s ejection, writing via Twitter: &#8220;It&#8217;s wrong to preemptively remove someone from your public event for their political views, [Bernie Sanders]. [Fox 8 News], you reported this was a free &amp; public event. Did the Sanders campaign ever dispute this?&#8221;

According to multiple reports, Special Counsel Robert Mueller is about to hand down another indictment, and once again it doesn&#8217;t have much to do with Donald Trump. But it does relate to everyone&#8217;s favorite social media-banned, red-faced, shirtless conspiracy theorist extraordinaire, Alex Jones.
Harvard-educated bestselling author and former Infowars Washington bureau chief Jerome Corsi says he&#8217;s been having a lot of discussions with Mueller&#8217;s team over the last two months, and he fully expects to be indicted anytime now. The whole experience, he told <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/special-counsel-witness-expects-charged-mueller-probe/story?id=59148352">ABC News</a>, has been &#8220;a horror show,&#8221; a true &#8220;nightmare.&#8221;
&#8220;I don&#8217;t know what they&#8217;re going to charge me with,&#8221; Corsi told ABC in an interview Monday. &#8220;I think my only crime was that I support Donald Trump. That&#8217;s my crime, and now I&#8217;m going to go to prison for the rest of my life for cooperating with them.&#8221;
ABC notes that Corsi is one of more than a dozen individuals connected to Roger Stone, a longtime associate of President Trump who Mueller&#8217;s team has been investigating concerning their role in the 2016 election, particularly in connection to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
Reports indicate that Mueller suspects that Stone was in communications with Assange and gained prior knowledge about his release of the leaked Clinton campaign emails that helped undermine her ultimately failed run in the last few weeks leading up to the election.
&#8220;The witnesses, many of whom have appeared before the grand jury impaneled by Mueller&#8217;s team, have told ABC News they were asked about Stone&#8217;s dealings during the 2016 election and what if any contact he may have had with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange through an intermediary, which Stone denies,&#8221; ABC reports.
Corsi said that after 40 hours of talking with Mueller&#8217;s team, it had &#8220;<a href="https://www.politico.com/story/2018/11/12/roger-stone-ally-indictment-mueller-984950">all blown up</a>,&#8221; leaving him expecting an indictment soon. The charges, he said, would be the result of a &#8220;perjury trap&#8221; set by Mueller.
The special counsel&#8217;s handling of the case, he underscored, was out of control, &#8220;an inquisition worthy of the KGB or the Gestapo.&#8221;
&#8220;I feel like I&#8217;ve been through an interrogation session in North Korea in the Korean war,&#8221; said Corsi.
Corsi began working for Infowars in 2017 as their Washington bureau chief, but has since left. Prior to his time with Jones and co., he worked for WolrdNetDaily and Human Events. After earning his PhD in political science from Harvard in 1972, Corsi eventually became a bestselling author for his books &#8220;Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry&#8221; (2004) and &#8220;The Obama Nation&#8221; (2008).

Twitter permanently banned the accounts of Alex Jones and Infowars from the platform on Thursday after Jones aggressively confronted a CNN reporter yesterday who led the push for social media companies to ban Jones from their platforms.
&#8220;The ban appears to be related to a heated exchange between Jones and a CNN reporter Wednesday, which Jones live streamed on the Twitter-owned video service Periscope,&#8221; <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/06/twitter-permanently-bans-alex-jones-and-infowars-accounts.html">CNBC</a> reported. &#8220;Jones ranted at the reporter, as well as Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, following back-to-back congressional hearings where Dorsey addressed online election meddling, as well as accusations of political bias and conservative censorship on the platform.&#8221;
&#8220;We took this action based on new reports of Tweets and videos posted yesterday that violate our abusive behavior policy, in addition to the accounts&#8217; past violations,&#8221; Twitter said in a statement.

The ban comes after Jones went after CNN reporter Oliver Darcy, accusing him of leading the way in trying to get companies to ban Infowars from using their platforms.
Jones specifically accused Darcy of &#8220;lobbying to get media taken down,&#8221; &#8220;lobbying to shut people down,&#8221; and &#8220;asking people why they aren&#8217;t shut down.&#8221;
Darcy claimed that none of those statements by Jones were true.

Twitter Permanently Bans Alex Jones, Infowars Day After Congressional Testimony

In just 48 hours after the purging of his site Infowars from major platforms like Facebook and Youtube, Alex Jones claims he has gained a staggering 5.6 million more subscribers. Speaking with the <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6039753/Alex-Jones-says-5-6-million-people-subscribed-Infowars-Apple-ban.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Daily Mail</a> on Wednesday, Jones said that the purging of his site only increased traffic, concluding that it ultimately backfired on his enemies.
&#8220;The good news is Infowars has had the highest traffic it&#8217;s ever had &#8211; 5.6 million new subscribers in the past 48 hours &#8211; and so has my radio show,&#8221; he said. &#8220;De-platforming doesn&#8217;t do anything, we already have the subscribers, it doesn&#8217;t do very much.&#8221;
Jones continued: &#8220;The loss we&#8217;ve had &#8230; on various platforms, has been way compensated by millions of new subscribers and visitors to our website, the mobile app, to our free podcast. We&#8217;ve never had this much people signing up for our news letter, podcast, video feeds, they&#8217;re all hitting subscribe, subscribe, subscribe.&#8221;
The only way that Big Tech could completely shut Jones out would be forcing internet providers to shut down his servers. Not even Apple, which kicked Jones off iTunes, will <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2018/08/09/apple-defends-decision-not-to-remove-infowars-app/">remove the Infowars app</a>.
&#8220;Even if I was ever defeated, from other places around the world victory is going to come, this fight for human liberty is unstoppable,&#8221; Jones said. &#8220;People understand what&#8217;s happening and we&#8217;re gonna go on to the end whatever the cost is. We&#8217;re gonna never surrender.&#8221;
Jones argued that the purging of his platform was a sign of future purging for other platforms, explaining, &#8220;It&#8217;s very dangerous for everybody else, but for me, who has been chosen as the sacrificial lamb, there&#8217;s a big effect. Democrats are trying to demonize free speech, set the precedent to try to restrict free speech and so it&#8217;s a very villainous overall program. &#8230; They&#8217;ve got mainline Democratic senators saying they ought to restrict Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Matt Drudge, the President himself.&#8221;
Following the Infowars purge, Democrat Chris Murphy called for Big Tech to begin <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/34171/backlash-democrat-chris-murphys-push-censorship-ryan-saavedra">purging sites altogether</a> in the name of defending eemocracy.

Alex Jones Claims 5.6 Million New Subscribers Following Purge: ‘Never Had This Much People’

Apple seems to have &#8212; at least partly &#8212; reversed its position on Infowars. Just days after the tech giant banned Infowars host Alex Jones from its iTunes podcast platform, it announced that it plans to leave the InfoWars app in its iTunes store in the interest of tolerance and diversity.
<a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2018/08/08/apple-allows-infowars-in-app-store.html">CNBC reports that</a> Apple, which touched off a social media deluge over the weekend by banning Jones and four of his co-hosts, whom they claim violated iTunes&#8217;s guidelines, will not bow to critics and remove the Infowars app from the App Store because Apple &#8220;strongly supports&#8221; all points of view being represented on its sales platforms.
To add to the confusion, the company also released a statement.

According to CNBC, Apple justified their distinction by saying that content on the app is &#8220;ephemeral,&#8221; and that some controversial videos disappear after they&#8217;ve been viewed, or when new content appears. The podcasts, however, remain searchable on Apple&#8217;s site.
Some of the content, however, appears to be the same as content Apple described last week as &#8220;hate speech,&#8221; when it told Infowars that &#8220;we have clear guidelines that creators and developers must follow to ensure we provide a safe environment for all of our users.&#8221;
Apple&#8217;s CEO, Tim Cook, made the decision to ban Jones over the weekend, touching off a domino effect on social media. Google and Facebook both followed Apple&#8217;s lead and suspended Jones&#8217;s profiles (Twitter, however, has allowed Jones to stay). The decision prompted discussions about how to define hate speech across the affected platforms, but it also pushed Jones&#8217;s Infowars app to #3 in the App Store and #5 on Google Play.

At least one Big Tech company has not joined in on the coordinated purge of Alex Jones and Infowars over the vague (largely leftist) definition of &#8220;hate speech.&#8221; Despite calls from a left-wing mob to ban the conspiracy theorist, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is holding the line.
Speaking to his four million followers on Wednesday, Dorsey said that while Alex Jones indeed spreads false information, Twitter will not be banning him since he has violated no rules.
&#8220;Accounts like Jones&#8217; can often sensationalize issues and spread unsubstantiated rumors,&#8221; Dorsey acknowledged, adding that &#8220;it&#8217;s critical journalists document, validate, and refute such information.&#8221;
&#8220;Truth is, we&#8217;ve been terrible at explaining our decisions in the past,&#8221; the exec tweeted. &#8220;We&#8217;re fixing that. We&#8217;re going to hold Jones to the same standard we hold to every account, not taking one-off actions to make us feel good in the short term, and adding fuel to new conspiracy theories.&#8221;
A spokesman for Twitter further confirmed to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/twitter-ceo-jack-dorsey-explains-move-not-ban-infowars-alex-jones-1133066">The Hollywood Reporter</a> on Monday that Jones did not violate any rules and would not be banned.
For whatever reason, Dorsey now feels that mobs should not dictate whether or not an account stays on the social media platform, even going as far to say &#8220;that&#8217;s not us.&#8221;
Dorsey tweeted: &#8220;If we succumb and simply react to outside pressure, rather than straightforward principles we enforce (and evolve) impartially regardless of political viewpoints, we become a service that&#8217;s constructed by our personal views that can swing in any direction. That&#8217;s not us.&#8221;
A blog Dorsey linked to featured Twitter VP trust and safety Del Harvey arguing that &#8220;offensive&#8221; perspectives should be allowed on the platform. &#8220;Twitter is reflective of real conversations happening in the world and that sometimes includes perspectives that may be offensive, controversial, and/or bigoted.&#8221;

Big Tech&#8217;s coordinated purge of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and Infowars got another kick on Tuesday when the email marketing service provider MailChimp announced it would be banning the platforms from their service for &#8220;hate speech&#8221; &#8212; that vague and nebulous phrase social media companies have yet to fully define.
The Soros-funded <a href="https://www.mediamatters.org/blog/2018/08/07/alex-jones-shows-document-saying-hes-also-been-removed-mailchimp/220922">Media Matters for America</a> confirmed the Infowars purging from MailChimp just one day after Facebook, Youtube, and Apple issued a similar purge for spreading &#8220;hate speech.&#8221;
&#8220;The progressive group said MailChimp confirmed its action on Tuesday, a day after the Infowars founder displayed a document from the company during a livestream broadcast,&#8221; reports <a href="http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/400755-mailchimp-removes-accounts-for-alex-jones-and-infowars">The Hill</a>. &#8220;The document referenced in Jones&#8217;s show reportedly said MailChimp had removed his account for violating the company&#8217;s terms of use.&#8221;
In their statement to Media Matters, MailChimp said they will no longer allow people onto their platform to &#8220;disseminate hateful content.&#8221;
