Fans of the popular YouTube content creator MrBeast (real name Jimmy Donaldson) who paid for an “immersive” experience in Las Vegas are demanding their money back, saying they didn’t get anything close to what was advertised.
The event at Resorts World Las Vegas was advertised as an &#8220;immersive&#8221; and &#8220;unforgettable.&#8221; It was supposed to include exclusive games, a MrBeast-themed menu, and mystery bags filled with limited-edition merchandise. There was also supposed to be at least one bag containing a $10,000 gift voucher.
All of these details were meant to justify the $1,000 per-ticket price tag for the three-day event, which took place from April 13 to April 15.
“It should have been like mini-games, meet and greets, photo ops, special drinks, and things,” participant Theresa Metta <a href="https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local-news/mrbeast-fans-seek-refunds-after-las-vegas-event/">told</a> Vegas-based outlet 8NewsNow. “Unfortunately, we didn’t get any of that.”
&#8220;I was told to wait in my room for two days for a package to come, so I legit spent two days in my room for a package to come, and it was a box of chocolates,&#8221; she continued.
&#8220;They said there would be mystery bags or boxes, and that one person would win $10,000, and then there would be a limited edition merchandise inside the boxes,&#8221; another guest, Jamie Yacksyzn, told <a href="https://people.com/mrbeast-fans-seek-refunds-for-usd1k-per-ticket-las-vegas-event-after-disappointing-experience-11716907">People</a>. 
&#8220;They also said the contents of the boxes are secret and not to be found out until you get the box,” she added. “So it alluded to the fact that there was going to be more special surprises in the box, and that there would be immersive experiences throughout the hotel floor and restaurants and activations.&#8221;
Yacksyzn continued, &#8220;I had seen things about the experience reported on MrBeast pages. Knowing how MrBeast is, and he does secret surprises and things, the hotel had also mentioned that it would be aligned with MrBeast&#8217;s reputation for being generous and his generosity.&#8221;
One guest posted a complaint on X with similar gripes about the lack of “experience” and the special merchandise being nothing more than “leftover shirts that cost $9.”
This prompted Donaldson to <a href="https://x.com/MrBeast/status/1912299963838509240">reply</a> from the MrBeast X account, saying, &#8220;Hey! This definitely isn&#8217;t the experience we hoped they&#8217;d deliver. My team&#8217;s already on it–I&#8217;d love to personally make it up to you and anyone else by inviting everybody affected to tour my actual studio! Can&#8217;t wait to meet you all and my team is reaching out to everyone :D.&#8221;
Resorts World took responsibility for the ordeal, admitting that &#8220;expectations were not met during the MrBeast experience.&#8221; The hotel said in an email that customers would be refunded in the next three to five days.

Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox signed a law on Tuesday that will increase protections for the children of online content creators. This move was inspired by the child abuse conviction of Ruby Franke, a popular YouTube personality who was found guilty of severely abusing her children.
The new law says that online creators who make more than $150,000 a year from content featuring children will be required to set aside 15% of those earnings into a trust fund that the kids can then access when they turn 18. This will also be the rule for parents of child actors appearing in TV or film projects, per the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/ruby-franke-child-influencer-protections-utah-d9702b22c9ea7adba6e15003971493ce#">Associated Press</a>.
“Children cannot give informed consent to be filmed on social media, period,” Ruby’s ex-husband Kevin Franke said. “Vlogging my family, putting my children into public social media, was wrong, and I regret it every day.”
The Frankes became famous after starting the “8 Passengers” YouTube channel in 2015. The series followed their day-to-day lives as a Mormon family in Springville, Utah. The Franke children were included in the videos Ruby posted up to five times a week, the outlet noted. Their content became popular, attracting 2.5 million subscribers by 2020. 
In 2012, Ruby changed track and started creating parenting content with therapist Jodi Hildebrandt. At Hildebrandt’s insistence, Ruby became estranged from her husband and moved into the therapist’s home with her two youngest children. Viewers became increasingly alarmed by Ruby’s disciplinary suggestions.
The women were taken into custody on child abuse charges after Ruby Franke’s severely underweight 12-year-old son, Russell, climbed out of a window and ran to a neighbor for help. The neighbor called 911 after noticing that the teen’s ankles were wrapped in bloody duct tape. Responding officers discovered the youngest Franke child, 9-year-old Eve, with her head shaved and sitting cross-legged in a dark closet.
A search of the home uncovered handwritten journals where Ruby claimed that her son was possessed by the devil. In the journals, she detailed abuse including starvation and making her children work outside in the heat without protection or nourishment. 
Both Ruby and Hildebrandt received prison sentences of up to 30 years. The Hulu documentary “Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke” led to national attention.
The youngest Franke daughter, Eve, wrote a statement regarding the new law. “I’m not saying YouTube is a bad thing. Sometimes it brings us together,” she said. “But kids deserve to be loved, not used by the ones that are supposed to love them the most.”
The content creation industry is largely unregulated, AP noted, but several states have started adding protections. Illinois, California, and Minnesota all have laws that protect the earnings of young creators.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender">Trans-identifying</a> TikTok influencer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dylan-mulvaney">Dylan Mulvaney</a> was named to Forbes’ list of “30 Under 30 Social Media,” the publication announced this week.
Forbes stated in the <a href="https://www.forbes.com/30-under-30/2024/">article</a> that the list was compiled &#8220;with the help of nominations from the public – as well as expertise from Forbes tech journalists and judges from all corners of creatordom.” The outlet added that it includes “young founders, industry leaders and online stars transforming the creator economy and future of the internet.&#8221; Forbes described the “creator economy” as a &#8220;$250 billion industry estimated to roughly double over the next five years.&#8221;
Others on the list include comedians Alan Chikin Chow and Steven He, fashion influencer Alix Earle, and disabled content creator Molly Burke. 
Mulvaney, 26, became popular on TikTok for the creator’s “Days of Girlhood” series, which documented the process of Mulvaney&#8217;s so-called gender transition. The social media star made headlines after doing a promotional campaign with Bud Light, which led to massive brand boycotts costing parent company Anheuser-Busch millions in lost revenue.

Forbes’ description for Mulvaney mentioned the “Days of Girlhood” series, saying it attracted “more than 1 billion views.” 
The article also included a quote from Mulvaney which said, &#8220;Whether somebody&#8217;s trans or not, I just hope they can watch my videos and feel inspired to unlock a new part of themselves.&#8221;
Mulvaney shared the digital cover on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C0M-svlP5Pv/?img_index=1">Instagram</a>, writing in the caption, “Businesswoman special!!! This was my dream, I couldn&#8217;t be more grateful. And buckle up, we&#8217;re just getting started.”
“I now realize that when I work with a brand, they will forever be a part of my story, going forward,” Mulvaney told Forbes, referencing the Bud Light controversy. &#8220;And I want there to be a mutual respect &#8211; and not only for me, but also for my community.”
“I think I am becoming a bit of a businesswoman,” the influencer added. “As much as I love the creative side, I love getting smarter: I want to know everything, and how it all works. Of course being in front of the camera, but I love the idea of producing and I think, why not learn it all.”

It looks like spending a little time in the slammer has self-proclaimed Philadelphia-area influencer &#8220;Meatball&#8221; regretting her decision to livestream looting and other mayhem that occurred in the City of Brotherly Love earlier this week. That decision has left her grandmother &#8220;ashamed&#8221; of her granddaughter, whose real name is Dayjia Blackwell, but maintains that Meatball has a certain business acumen that can be used for good.
On Thursday, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/social-media-influencer-who-livestreamed-philadelphia-looting-arrested-charged-with-6-felonies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Meatball was arrested during her livestream of the looting as large groups of mostly teenagers damaged and robbed multiple stores in Philadelphia. The 21-year-old Blackwell was hit with six felony counts as well as two misdemeanors and was seen crying in her mugshot.
During the stream, Meatball boasted, &#8220;Tell the police they’re either gonna lock me up tonight, or it’s gonna get lit, it’s gonna be a movie.&#8221;

Well, they did lock her up and it turned into a bit of a nightmare for the budding social media star.
Blackwell&#8217;s mother bailed her out of jail, and Meatball told <a href="https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/social-media-influencer-talks-livestreaming-looting-arrest/3656311/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC 10</a> that the experience scared her straight.
&#8220;I just prefer, you know, never loot again, stay out of trouble, never go to jail,&#8221; she told the outlet.

Indeed, the girl&#8217;s grandmother hopes that Meatball becomes a force for good in the world.
Vashti Fields, Meatball&#8217;s grandmother, told Fox 29, &#8220;What goes through my mind, as a grandmother, is I’m very ashamed. I’m very ashamed to see my child there, at that time. Number one, she could have gotten hurt.&#8221;
Fields has bigger dreams for Meatball.
&#8220;I want her to start a business and, most of all, I want her to be a positive influencer,&#8221; Fields said.
Indeed, she added, that Meatball is a &#8220;loving, kind, caring, business minded go-getter.&#8221;
Of course, part of Meatball&#8217;s business includes having an Only Fans account which is nothing but smut and akin to a virtual form of the oldest profession in the world.
It&#8217;s unclear what her family thinks of that career choice.
Meatball&#8217;s mother chose instead to honk her car horn repeatedly when approached by reporters and refused to speak to the press.
Perhaps the real lesson here is that jail can work in steering ne&#8217;er-do-wells on the straight and narrow — contrary to what justice reform advocates state.

Transgender activist and influencer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dylan-mulvaney">Dylan Mulvaney</a> received an award over the weekend and appeared to reference the Bud Light controversy during the acceptance speech.
The TikTok star won Breakout Creator at the 2023 Streamy Awards, which are said to be “the foremost recognition within the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/influencer">creator</a> community.”
“My life has been changed for the better,” Mulvaney said during the Sunday night speech. “But also there’s been an extreme amount of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender">transphobia</a> and hate, and I know that my community is feeling it, and I know that even our allies are feeling it.”
The 26-year-old influencer thanked “allies that have platforms” for their support and implored them to do more.
“You need to support trans people publicly and proudly,” Mulvaney insisted, per <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/08/28/dylan-mulvaney-wins-breakout-creator-at-streamy-awards-calls-out-transphobia-and-hate-during-speech/">The New York Post</a>.
“I think the trans community and the creator community actually have something in common. It’s that people often underestimate us,” Mulvaney went on before jokingly concluding with, “I’m gonna go have a beer and… I love ya.” 
The beer reference was likely about Mulvaney&#8217;s brand partnership with Bud Light, which inspired effective boycotts. 
It came from the company sending Mulvaney a custom Bud Light can, which inspired the influencer to create video ads touting the beer brand. Critics saw this move as Bud Light openly advocating for the trans agenda.
Anheuser-Busch InBev sales have plummeted since the partnership with Mulvaney first went public in April. Marketing executives for the company were placed on leave shortly after the Mulvaney partnership, and AB InBev and laid off 380 employees “across every corporate function” after Bud Light’s U.S. sales plummeted 26.5% in July, as The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-mulvaney-effect-anheuser-busch-laying-off-hundreds-of-employees">reported</a>. 
Anheuser-Busch Chief Executive Brendan Whitworth addressed the reactions in June but did not outright say he regretted the partnership with Mulvaney.

“Bud Light has supported LGBTQ since 1998, so that’s 25 years,” he said. “And as we’ve said from the beginning, we’ll continue to support the communities and organizations that we’ve supported for decades.”
He went on to indicate that the brand would stay out of charged social issues in the future. 
“As we move forward, we want to focus on what we do best, which is brewing great beer for everyone, listening to our consumers, being humble in listening to them, making sure we do right by our employees, take care and support our partners, and ultimately make an impact in the communities that we serve,” he noted.

&#8220;We are beyond thrilled to share that your loving prayers for Jackie have been working!&#8221; the family wrote. &#8220;Jackie is awake and was recently transferred to one of the best neurological rehabilitation hospitals in the country.&#8221;

The social media post concluded with a message that out of respect for the influencer&#8217;s privacy, it will be James alone who will &#8220;share any further updates&#8221; about her condition going forward &#8220;in her own unique way, if and when she is ready.&#8221;
A month ago, James was at home just a week away from giving birth, when she <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/Support-Jackies-Long-Road-to-Recovery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suffered an aneurysm rupture</a> that led to severe brain bleeding and injury. Her husband found her and rushed her to the hospital.
James was placed in a medically induced coma and gave birth via an emergency C-Section to their daughter. The little girl was hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit for 12 days before going home. In the family&#8217;s update, they shared that Jame&#8217;s daughter is continuing to &#8220;grow into a happy, healthy, and animated little angel.&#8221;

In another video, Cutler posted a long discussion with her grandmother in which they discussed the euthanasia.
“What are your thoughts as you like move closer to the date?” she asked.
“It’s like the light at the end of the tunnel,” her grandmother replied.
“What are some of the precursors?” Cutler wanted to know. “Like the questions they asked to make sure you’re doing it for the right reason.”
“Your diagnosis is if it’s fatal, how many more months you have; they give you time to consider. They keep stressing the fact that you can always change your mind,” her grandmother explained.
“What is the actual day like?” Cutler queried.
“Like they said, an appointment,” her grandmother said. “Initial injection putting you to sleep. And the big pain is a prick in the hand to provide for the little valves, and then once you’re in a deep sleep, there are two other injections. At that point you don&#8217;t know, so it’s painless.”
When Cutler asked whether her grandmother would prefer to die at home, her grandmother said she preferred the hospital, adding, “I came in quietly; I’d like to go out quietly.”
Cutler asked if she was nervous or excited; her grandmother said she was “looking forward to just putting it in, to being dependent, no control.”
“As the day approaches, is it something you’re thinking about every day?” Cutler asked.
“No,” her grandmother answered.  “Just it’s gonna happen when it happens. When I’ll be ready I’ll know. I’ve always made my own decisions for myself. In living I trust; I will in death. I do believe my husband is there saying it’s about time. And I’ll say, ‘Hi, Arn. I’m here.’ That’s it.”

A California Instagram &#8220;mommy influencer&#8221; has been found guilty of making a false police report after claiming in 2020 that a couple tried to abduct her children.
Kathleen “Katie” Sorensen, 31, was found guilty on one of three misdemeanor counts last week after a jury deliberated for an entire day, the Sonoma County District Attorney’s office announced in <a href="https://da.sonomacounty.ca.gov/woman-convicted-of-knowingly-making-a-false-report-of-attempted-kidnap" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a press release</a>. She faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail.
“This verdict will enable us to hold Ms. Sorensen accountable for her crime, while at the same time helping to exonerate the couple that was falsely accused of having attempted to kidnap two young children. The case is also important in that it illustrates the importance of using social media responsibly,” District Attorney Carla Rodriguez said.
Sorensen <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-instagram-influencer-charged-with-lying-after-accusing-latino-couple-of-trying-to-kidnap-her-children" target="_blank" rel="noopener">went viral</a> on social media in December 2020 when she accused a Latino couple of following her around a Michael’s craft store and attempting to kidnap her children. The accused couple, Eduardo and Sadie Martinez, insisted at the time of Sorenson’s allegations that race played a role.
“Great news for us all but mostly for my cousin, Sadie Vega-Martinez and her husband Eddie,” a family member <a href="https://www.facebook.com/erikamgarcia/posts/10226027985949358" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote on Facebook</a> after Sorensen was charged in May 2021. “They were falsely accused by this ‘influencer’ of trying to kidnap her kids at a local Michaels store. A major allegation! She obviously didn’t know who she was messing with… my cousin. Prima, I’m so glad you persisted! There absolutely need[s] to be consequences for attention seeking ‘influencers’ that make up drama for likes and views on social… Can you imagine this happening to YOU? It totally could. And it’s unreal.”
Sorenson claimed in an Instagram post that her “children were the targets of attempted kidnap.”
Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-police-mom-influencer-kidnap-latino" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Sorensen accused the Martinezes of trying to kidnap her children from the craft store. Sorensen regularly posts on social media about her kids, and her allegations ended up pushing her number of followers on Instagram from 6,000 to more than 80,000.
Sorensen reportedly told police the couple followed her as she pushed her children in a stroller in the parking lot heading toward her car. She reportedly said the couple made comments about her children’s appearances and stood near her vehicle as she put her children inside.

Sorensen posted a video on social media a week after the alleged incident where she “included information that had not been initially presented” to police, the Petaluma Police Department said.
Sorensen also <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-police-mom-influencer-kidnap-latino" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spoke</a> to KTVU-TV about the alleged incident.
“I saw these people, they didn’t look necessarily clean-cut,” she told the outlet. “I felt uncomfortable around them, and instead of making them uncomfortable with my discomfort, I chose to remain in my discomfort.”
She claimed the man had looked at her when she was outside the store and that he and his wife followed her around the store and described her children to someone while on the phone.
“I heard them talking about the features of my children, but I was totally paralyzed with fear,” Sorensen told the outlet. “I just couldn’t bring myself to say anything.”
She claimed the couple followed her around the store and stood behind her in line even though they didn’t buy anything, and then followed her through the parking lot to her SUV. She said a white van was parked next to her vehicle, which was far from the store. She claimed the couple took a few steps toward her but then stepped back, saying the only explanation for this was that they “were just building the courage” for the kidnapping.
Sorensen claimed the man reached for the stroller, but an older man was nearby, “saw what was going on, and I just yelled for help.”
She then said the couple drove off in a car, but another person came up behind her, possibly getting out of that white van.
The Martinez family said they went to Michael’s to buy decorations for a Nativity scene and “fully cooperated” with police. At the time, police said, “The investigation has produced no evidence or witnesses corroborating the account provided by the reporting party.”
“Evidence gathered has served to support the account provided by the couple from the store,” the police department added.
The couple spoke to reporters about the incident.
“I couldn’t believe it. It’s like we’re literally guilty of being brown while shopping,” Sadie said. “One of my kids wanted to go there to buy stuff to make hot chocolate balls and I just don’t feel comfortable. I feel like I have a target on my back, now that our image is out on the internet. Who’s to say some crazy person is not gonna come for us?”
Police eventually cleared the couple, noting the “inconsistencies” in Sorensen’s story, such as her claim the couple didn’t buy anything even though surveillance footage shows that to be false.

Pro-Trump influencer Lynette &#8220;Diamond&#8221; Hardaway&#8217;s cause of death has been revealed as a result of heart disease.
Hardaway, of the social media sister duo Diamond and Silk, died on January 8. She was 51.
Despite speculation on the internet that &#8220;Diamond&#8221; died from COVID, a death certificate obtained by The <a href="https://apnews.com/article/health-donald-trump-covid-heart-disease-02a4169cefd96576e76e49789ea1aa2e">Associated Press</a> on Monday confirmed she died of heart disease brought on by chronic high blood pressure.
Her sister, Rochelle Richardson, a.k.a. As soon as the news broke that Ineitha Lynnette Hardaway — Diamond of the pro-Trump influencers Diamond and Silk — had <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/breaking-pro-trump-influencer-diamond-of-diamond-and-silk-dies-at-51/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed away suddenly</a> on Monday, liberal critics began claiming that she had died of COVID after speaking out against the vaccines.
Diamond had previously been hospitalized in November — and despite rumors suggesting that she had been <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/totally-unexpected-diamond-maga-duo-024903250.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fighting COVID then</a>, she returned to her show in December to call those reports &#8220;fake news.&#8221;
Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill was among those criticizing Diamond — and perpetuating the claim that she had died of complications from COVID.

The Daily Beast political reporter Will Sommer urged caution, however, noting that Diamond&#8217;s official cause of death had not yet been revealed – and adding that the original article claiming that her November hospital visit had been the result of COVID did not appear to have any reliable source.

&#8220;Really bad news for Republicans and frankly, ALL Americans,&#8221; Trump said in a post on social media. &#8220;Our beautiful Diamond, of Diamond and Silk, has just passed away at her home in the State she loved so much, North Carolina.&#8221;
&#8220;Silk was with her all the way, and at her passing,&#8221; the message continued. &#8220;There was no better TEAM anywhere, or at any time! Diamond’s death was totally unexpected, probably her big and precious HEART just plain gave out. Rest In Peace our Magnificent Diamond, you will be greatly missed!&#8221;
No cause of death was given.
The Diamond and Silk Twitter account shared a link for people to donate to her funeral. The funds will be received by her sister Herneitha Rochelle Hardaway Richardson, also known as &#8220;Silk.&#8221;

The duo were conservative activists who posted live-stream videos talking about politics. The two occasionally appeared on conservative news shows and regularly attended rallies for the former president.
&#8220;Diamond and Silk found social media fame before the 2016 election for their videos supporting Trump’s first White House bid,&#8221; Mediaite <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/news/trump-announces-diamond-of-diamond-and-silk-has-died-her-big-and-precious-heart-just-plain-gave-out/">reported</a>. &#8220;Neither wavered in their support of him during his term in office or in the two years since President Joe Biden was elected.&#8221;
They both endorsed Trump when he announced his third campaign for the White House late last year. “President Trump has our full and complete endorsement!” stated on Twitter.

Johnson <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fitness-guru-liver-king-comes-clean-about-steroid-use-i-lied-and-i-misled-a-lot-of-people" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admitted</a> earlier this week that he lied about taking steroids, saying that he was &#8220;embarrassed and ashamed&#8230; I lied and I misled a lot of people.&#8221;
&#8220;I wasn&#8217;t surprised at all. It completely make sense,&#8221; Rogan said on one of his podcast episodes this week. &#8220;There&#8217;s no way you can look like that in your 40s, that jacked, he&#8217;s preposterously jacked. Now that we know that he&#8217;s full of s***. We&#8217;re talking about the Liver King, by the way, ladies and gentlemen, a lot of people, like, what are they saying? There&#8217;s a guy, if you don&#8217;t know who the Liver King is, the guy who calls himself the &#8216;Liver King,&#8217; and he&#8217;s this guy who walks around everywhere with no shirt on. Rogan then played the Liver King&#8217;s apology video and repeatedly mocked and laughed at his attempts to explain why he lied about taking steroids.
&#8220;You know what the problem is?&#8221; Rogan said after watching the apology video. &#8220;Sometimes people don&#8217;t hang out with people that are smarter than them. And you think you&#8217;re the smartest person or maybe because he&#8217;s running this company, people have to listen to him. So he&#8217;s got this distorted perception of his ability to communicate, and his ability to convince people, like, that was so theatrical and so corny.&#8221;
&#8220;This is dumb, man. This is a f***ing, you ran a con game and you got busted,&#8221; Rogan continued. &#8220;And it&#8217;s unfortunate that you feel terrible. I&#8217;m sorry, you feel bad because that&#8217;s just what happens when you get caught lying. But you didn&#8217;t have to lie.&#8221;
