<p>An Indian illegal immigrant behind the wheel of a semi-truck allegedly caused a fatal accident on an Indiana road on Wednesday.</p>
<p>Sukhdeep Singh allegedly ran a red light before striking 64-year-old Terry Schultz in his pickup truck in Hendricks County, according to reports. Schultz died at the scene.</p>
<p>Federal law enforcement sources told The Daily Wire that Singh crossed the border illegally in 2018 and was released into the country because he was a minor at the time.</p>
<p>Singh had a valid work permit at the time of the crash and, <a href="https://noticias.foxnews.com/us/illegal-immigrant-truck-driver-accused-killing-indiana-man-after-running-red-light" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Fox News, an Indiana commercial driver&#8217;s license.</p>
<p>The Indian national is currently in ICE custody, where he will be held without bond, per a Trump administration policy.</p>
<p>Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement Thursday that deadly collisions involving illegal immigrants are becoming all too common.</p>
<p>“This tragedy comes less than two weeks after another illegal alien driving a semi-truck killed four innocent people in Indiana. It is incredibly dangerous for illegal aliens, who often don’t know our traffic laws or even English, to be operating semi-trucks on America’s roads. These tragedies are 100% preventable and we pray for the family and victim,&#8221; McLaughlin said.</p>
<p>“Thanks to ICE and our state and local partners in law enforcement, this criminal illegal alien is now off our roads,&#8221; she added.</p>

<p>Singh already had previous traffic violations on his record, <a href="https://fox59.com/news/driver-responsible-for-fatal-crash-in-hendricks-county-detained-by-ice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Fox59. That included a ticket for lacking insurance after a car crash in January.</p>
<p>He also had three speeding tickets and a citation for no registration, the outlet reported.</p>
<p>One witness, Kate Breedlove, went to comfort Schultz as he took his last breaths, according to Fox59.</p>
<p>“I think there was a lot of chaos going on and I made it my job to be calming to him,” Breedlove recalled.</p>
<p>“I was just telling him everything was going to be okay. He was unresponsive, but at some point, I think he definitely took his last breath,” she said.</p>
<p>Republican Indiana Senator Jim Banks recently created a hotline &#8220;for truckers and those in the trucking industry to report concerns about carriers employing or contracting with drivers who are in the country illegally.&#8221;</p>

<p>The storied Chicago Bears NFL franchise has been playing in the Windy City since 1921, but on Thursday, the team shocked the sports world and Illinois leaders by taking a &#8220;meaningful step&#8221; toward building a new stadium across state lines in Hammond, Indiana.</p>
<p>After the Indiana House of Representatives unanimously passed a proposed amendment to make Indiana the Bears&#8217; new home, the team said it is &#8220;committed to finishing&#8221; the process &#8220;to build a world-class stadium near the Wolf Lake area in Hammond, Indiana,&#8221; Chicago-based news outlet WGN 9 <a href="https://wgntv.com/northwest-indiana/indiana-lawmakers-to-meet-thursday-morning-to-review-proposal-for-bears-to-build-new-stadium-in-northwest-indiana/">reported</a>. <p>While a relocation to Hammond would keep the Bears in the Chicago metro area, it would mark a major loss for Illinois Democratic leaders, including Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. The Bears had planned to move to Arlington Heights, a village in Illinois northwest of downtown Chicago, but the plan has stalled in the Democrat-controlled state legislature.</p>
<p>A spokesman for Governor Pritzker <a href="https://x.com/thematthill/status/2024502208885080324">said</a> that state lawmakers had planned to hold a hearing on moving forward with the Bears&#8217; Arlington Heights plans, but the franchise requested the meeting be called off at the last minute. The hearing, scheduled to be held by the Illinois Revenue and Finance Committee, was set to look into a proposal to provide up to $850 million in infrastructure support, according to WGN 9.</p>
<p>&#8220;This morning, we were surprised to see a statement lauding Indiana and ignoring Illinois,&#8221; Pritzker&#8217;s spokesman, Matt Hill, added.</p>
<p>Local property taxes in Illinois also remain a major issue. Illinois Republican state Rep. Mark Batinick published a document detailing how the 7% property tax rate in Arlington Heights would require the Bears to pay around $210 million annually, the Purdue Exponent <a href="https://www.purdueexponent.org/city_state/general_news/chicago-bears-hammond-indiana/article_46293472-6987-4fe8-b4be-6a69f7280fb1.html">reported</a>.</p>
<p>Indiana Republican Governor Mike Braun released a statement on Thursday touting the state&#8217;s &#8220;pro-growth environment&#8221; that &#8220;continues to attract major opportunities like this partnership with the Chicago Bears.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;The State of Indiana moves at the speed of business, and we&#8217;ve demonstrated that through our quick coordination between state agencies, local government, and the legislature to set the stage for a huge win for all Hoosiers,&#8221; Braun added. &#8220;We have built a strong relationship with the Bears organization that will serve as the foundation for a public-private partnership, leading to the construction of a world-class stadium and a win for taxpayers.&#8221;</p>
<p>Illinois businesses, especially businesses in Arlington Heights, could take the biggest losses if the proposal to move the Bears to Indiana goes through. Business owners and residents in Arlington Heights have largely supported bringing the NFL team to the village, as it would come with increased business and tourism opportunities.</p>
<p>A move to Republican-led Indiana, however, could ease the tax burdens of the franchise and its players. Indiana&#8217;s income tax currently sits at 2.95% and will be <a href="https://www.indianahouserepublicans.com/blog/general/new-tax-cuts-for-hoosiers-in-2026/">lowered</a> to 2.9% beginning in 2027. The state&#8217;s <a href="https://taxfoundation.org/location/indiana/">corporate</a> income tax rate is 4.9%. Illinois&#8217; <a href="https://tax.illinois.gov/research/taxrates/income.html">income tax</a>, meanwhile, is 4.95% and its corporate tax sits at 7%.</p>
<p>The potential relocation to Indiana comes as the Bears have once again become a top contender in the NFC following an NFC North division title and playoff run last season with star quarterback Caleb Williams and new head coach Ben Johnson.</p>
<p>The Bears could be the second NFL team to move across state lines, as the Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to build a new stadium on the Kansas side of the border after playing in Missouri for decades. Last year, Missouri Republicans <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-tale-of-two-kansas-cities-chiefs-and-royals-spark-political-battle-with-potential-stadium-moves">disagreed</a> over whether they should try to keep the Chiefs in the state, with Republican Governor Mike Kehoe arguing that the team brings business and state revenue for Missouri. <p>Two illegal immigrant truckers from India were arrested Saturday for allegedly hauling 309 pounds of cocaine inside a semi-truck they were driving through Putnam County, Indiana, The Daily Wire has learned.</p>
<p>Gurpreet Singh, 25, and Jasveer Singh, 30, were driving from Joplin, Missouri, when they were pulled over by Indiana State Troopers, who observed that their truck was drifting, <a href="https://x.com/angelaganote/status/2008194673597124716" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to FOX59. The troopers brought in a drug-sniffing K9, who helped them locate 140-kilogram packages containing approximately 309 pounds of cocaine that were concealed in the truck&#8217;s sleeper berth.</p>
<p>The cache of drugs is worth an estimated $7 million, according to reports.</p>
<p>During the traffic stop, the illegal immigrant pair presented the troopers with their California-issued commercial driver&#8217;s licenses.</p>
<p>In a statement shared with The Daily Wire, the Department of Homeland Security blamed Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the alleged drug smuggling attempt.</p>
<p>“Thanks to Gavin Newsom’s reckless policies, these two criminal illegal aliens were granted commercial licenses by the state of California and were arrested for trafficking a whopping 300 pounds of cocaine inside a semi-truck,” Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement shared with The Daily Wire.</p>

<p class="m_-1687227618768408762paragraph"><span class="m_-1687227618768408762normaltextrun">Jasveer Singh crossed the border illegally on March 21, 2017, near Otay Mesa, California. He was arrested in December 2025 in San Bernardino for allegedly receiving stolen property, but was released after sanctuary authorities in California refused to honor a federal immigration detainer.</span></p>
<p>Immigration and Customs Enforcement has since filed detainers with local authorities to ensure that they&#8217;re handed over for deportation rather than eventually released onto the streets after their latest alleged crimes, according to DHS.</p>
<p>During his latest encounter with police, Jasveer said he was employed as a truck driver, but that he hitched a ride with a different carrier for the latest trip, according to FOX59. He said he was instructed to haul an empty tractor-trailer to an Indian restaurant near Richmond, Indiana, to eat food and wait for his cargo load to arrive.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Gurpreet said he hitched a ride from California to Joplin in a different truck before he met up with Jasveer as they headed to the same Indian restaurant, the outlet reported.</p>
<p>Jasveer also said that the truck lacked the required Electronic Logging Device that ensures drivers aren&#8217;t on the roads for longer than what is considered safe, according to FOX59.</p>
<p>The Trump administration has heavily scrutinized Newsom as it investigates the issuance of commercial driver&#8217;s licenses across the country to illegal immigrants following a string of fatal collisions.</p>
<p>California recently announced that it would delay its effort to cancel thousands of commercial driver&#8217;s licenses issued to foreign drivers.</p>
<p>The Trump administration instructed California to get it done by Jan. 5, threatening to withhold $160 million in federal funding if the state failed to make the deadline.</p>
<p>Newsom responded, saying their delay was a result of &#8220;federal mismanagement.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;YOUR staff told CA DMV they were open to an extension 8 days ago. In fact, FMCSA agreed an extension made logistical sense and was reasonable (in a meeting on Dec. 18)! DMV relied on that guidance and acted accordingly,&#8221; Newsom wrote in a Dec. 31 X post.</p>

<p>Federal authorities have accused another Chinese researcher of smuggling biological materials into the United States, as the FBI cautions American universities about growing threats from the communist nation.</p>
<p>FBI Director Kash Patel announced Friday that Chinese national Youhuang Xiang was arrested for allegedly smuggling genetic material from E. coli bacteria into the United States while working as a researcher at Indiana University. According to court documents, Xiang entered the country in 2023 on an educational exchange visa to secure a postdoctoral position at the school.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“This is yet another example of a researcher from China — given the privilege to work at a U.S. university — who then allegedly chose to take part in a scheme to circumvent U.S. laws and receive biological materials hidden in a package originating from China,” Patel posted on X. “The</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">[FBI] and our CBP partners are committed to enforcing U.S. laws put in place to protect against this global threat to our economy and food supply. If not properly controlled, E. coli and other biological materials could inflict devastating disease to U.S. crops and cause significant financial loss to the U.S. economy.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiang has been charged with conspiracy to commit smuggling, smuggling, and making false statements. He could face up to 20 years in prison and fines totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars if convicted. </span>James Tunick, Xiang&#8217;s lawyer, disputed the allegations.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Youhuang Xiang was legally working in the United States on a J-1 visa with a professor from the Biology Department at Indiana University to better wheat crop production in the United States,&#8221; Tunick told The Daily Wire. &#8220;The allegation that Youhuang smuggled E. coli into the United States is completely false and is not even charged by the United States Department of Justice.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiang, whose </span><a href="https://biology.indiana.edu/about/research-associates/index.html"><span style="font-weight: 400;">bio</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> says he specializes in “recognition specificity in host-pathogen interactions and engineering crop resistance to pathogen,” was first arrested on November 25. Information about the case was unsealed this week. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In March 2024, Xiang requested that a person in China referred to as “Individual A” ship plasmid DNA from E. coli bacteria to his home in Bloomington, Indiana, according to the indictment. The material was shipped to him shortly after, concealed in a package of clothing items that &#8220;Individual A&#8221; declared included a men&#8217;s vest and women&#8217;s underwear, investigators said. The package allegedly came from Guangzhou Sci Tech Innovation Trading.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">More than a year later, on November 23, 2025, Xiang landed in Chicago after returning from a trip to London, where agents with Customs and Border Protection questioned him. During that interview, he allegedly lied to them about the package he had sent to his home and about his ties to the Chinese government. </span></p>
<p>Xiang was scheduled to remain at Indiana University through 2027 and was leading a research program focused on genome editing in wheat plants to increase resistance to fungal diseases.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The FBI was made aware of the shipment by CBP as part of an investigation into biological materials being smuggled into the United States from China, which is why he was questioned on November 23. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Information provided to the FBI by CBP included information about the history of </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">shipments from China to certain individuals at IU conducting research into wheat pathogen </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Resistance,” the criminal complaint said. “That information indicated that XIANG was associated with that research and that XIANG received a shipment from China at his residence on March 28, 2024.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The FBI also thought it was “odd” that Xiang purchased and shipped “women’s </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">underwear from China, and further assessed it as peculiar that a company by the name </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">‘Guangzhou Sci Tech Innovation Trading’ would sell underwear or clothing,” according to the complaint. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A <a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1674205219301625">paper</a> written by Xiang also listed his affiliation with the National Key Laboratory of Plant Molecular Genetics in Shanghai, which raised flags for investigators. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I know from my training and experience that the PRC ‘Key Laboratories’ are overseen by the Chinese Government and have a history of concerning actions including technology transfer and theft of intellectual property,” the FBI agent who investigated the case wrote in the criminal complaint. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Over the last few months, other Chinese researchers at American universities have been arrested for smuggling biological materials into the country. Multiple arrests have been made at the University of Michigan, where <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/feds-makes-more-arrests-as-alarming-pattern-of-chinese-smuggling-continues">investigators said</a> that shipments of concealed biological materials related to roundworms were smuggled into the United States. </span></p>
<p>President Donald Trump has faced criticism over the presence of Chinese students at American universities. While some critics have called for reducing the number of Chinese nationals admitted to U.S. schools, Trump has argued that their enrollment helps provide funding for American institutions.</p>

<p>Braun, a former U.S. senator who is serving his first term as governor, <a href="https://x.com/GovBraun/status/1999234066680512867?s=20">accused</a> &#8220;a small group&#8221; of Republicans of working with Democrats to stop a new Congressional map that would have likely flipped two more House seats to the GOP in the 2026 midterm elections.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am very disappointed that a small group of misguided State Senators have partnered with Democrats to reject this opportunity to protect Hoosiers with fair maps and to reject the leadership of President Trump,&#8221; Braun said. &#8220;Ultimately, decisions like this carry political consequences. I will be working with the President to challenge these people who do not represent the best interests of Hoosiers.&#8221;</p>
<p>While Braun claimed it was &#8220;a small group&#8221; of Republicans who rejected the redistricting effort, the Congressional map was opposed by the majority of GOP state senators. Braun&#8217;s statement on X was hit with a community note to add that context.</p>
<p>The Daily Wire reached out to Braun&#8217;s office for comment.</p>
<p>The redistricting proposal failed in a 19-31 vote on Thursday, which included 21 of the 40 Republican state senators opposing the Congressional map that aimed to flip two Democratic House seats to Republican control. Senator Sue Glick, who voted against the map, said, &#8220;You have to know Hoosiers, we can’t be bullied.&#8221; Senator Greg Walker argued that the map was &#8220;unconstitutional.&#8221;</p>

<p>In a fiery floor <a href="https://x.com/Indy_reporter_/status/1999224442237714806">speech</a> before the vote, Republican Majority Floor Leader Chris Garten urged his colleagues to support the new map, arguing, &#8220;Some will say these maps are political. Let me be clear, you&#8217;re damn right they are! Political policy is political. Safe streets are political. Look at Indianapolis. Affordable electricity is political. A drug-free Indiana is political. Peace in the Middle East is political.&#8221;</p>
<p>Following the vote, Trump ripped Senate Pro Tempore Rodric Bray, who voted against the GOP-favored map.</p>
<p>&#8220;He’ll probably lose his next primary, whenever that is. I hope he does, because he’s done a tremendous disservice,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/watch-trump-criticizes-indiana-senate-republicans-rejection-of-redistricting-effort">said</a> of Bray. &#8220;I&#8217;ll certainly support anyone who wants to go against him.&#8221;</p>
<p>Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he could have done more to support the redistricting effort in Indiana, which would have added two seats for Republicans in next year&#8217;s elections.</p>
<p>&#8220;I won Indiana all three times by a landslide,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;And I wasn&#8217;t working on it very hard. It would&#8217;ve been nice. I think we would&#8217;ve picked up two seats if we did that.&#8221;</p>
<p>Vice President JD Vance traveled to Indiana in recent months to meet with Governor Braun and help kickstart the redistricting plan, as Trump called on red states to pass new Congressional maps. On Thursday, Vance accused Bray of telling the White House that he wouldn’t fight the redistricting effort “while simultaneously whipping his members against it.” Bray denied the accusations leveled against him by the vice president, saying, “Typically my style is to let people vote like they want. They could come with a yes or come with a no. It’s exactly what I did this time.”</p>
<p>Republican-led states, including Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina, have all passed new Congressional maps that will likely help Republicans, while California voters approved a new map that could help Democrats.</p>

<p>The Republican-led Indiana Senate voted against a proposal backed by President Donald Trump to change the state&#8217;s Congressional map, which would have likely flipped two Democratic seats ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.</p>
<p>The effort to pass a new map failed in a 19-31 vote despite Trump&#8217;s public pressure on Indiana Republicans to follow in the steps of red states such as Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina and give the GOP a better advantage in next year&#8217;s pivotal elections. The Republican-favored proposal passed the Indiana House last week by a <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/indiana-house-passes-new-republican-drawn-congressional-map-rcna246750">vote</a> of 57-41, but ran into Republican opposition in the state Senate.</p>
<p>On Wednesday, Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115698333420423237">warned</a> that any Republican who voted against the redistricting proposal would be met with a &#8220;MAGA primary,&#8221; adding, &#8220;If Republicans will not do what is necessary to save our Country, they will eventually lose everything to the Democrats.&#8221;</p>
<p>Last month, Trump blasted Indiana state senators who pushed back on his redistricting calls, saying that he was &#8220;very disappointed in Indiana State Senate Republicans, led by RINO Senators Rod Bray and Greg Goode, for not wanting to redistrict their State, allowing the United States Congress to perhaps gain two more Republican seats.&#8221;</p>

<p>“The Democrats have done redistricting for years, often illegally, and all other appropriate Republican States have done it,&#8221; Trump added. &#8220;Because of these two politically correct type ‘gentlemen,’ and a few others, they could be depriving Republicans of a Majority in the House, A VERY BIG DEAL!”</p>

<p>After Indiana Republican Governor Mike Braun called for state lawmakers to reconvene for a special session on redistricting, Bray warned that there wasn&#8217;t enough support among GOP state senators to pass a new map.</p>
<p>&#8220;Over the last several months, Senate Republicans have given very serious and thoughtful consideration to the concept of redrawing our state&#8217;s congressional maps. I&#8217;m announcing there are not enough votes to move that idea forward, and the Senate will not reconvene in December,&#8221; Bray <a href="https://www.indianasenaterepublicans.com/statement-from-senate-president-pro-tem-rodric-bray-regarding-possibility-of-redrawing-indiana-s-congressional-maps">said</a> in a statement on November 14.</p>
<p>Trump said on Wednesday that if the redistricting vote failed, &#8220;Rod Bray and his friends won’t be in Politics for long, and I will do everything within my power to make sure that they will not hurt the Republican Party, and our Country, again.&#8221;</p>
<p>The redistricting effort is just one of several around the country, with the Supreme Court ordering that Texas’ map with five additional Republican-favored districts could go forward. California passed Prop. 50 in November, which would allow five more Democrat-favored districts in the Golden State, and it is facing an ongoing lawsuit from the Justice Department. Florida, Virginia, and Louisiana are among the states with active redistricting battles, but it could end up leading to similar numbers favoring both parties overall, according to Cook Political Report’s Dave Wasserman.</p>
<p>The battle comes amid tight margins in the House ahead of 2026, with Republicans currently holding 220 seats compared with Democrats, who hold 213 seats. Two seats are currently vacant.</p>

<p>In the last two months, the lives of four Indiana residents were taken, and eight others were seriously injured in collisions with illegal immigrants behind the wheel of cars and heavy trucks. Banks sent Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem a letter on Wednesday, pushing her to deport the illegal immigrant drivers.</p>
<p>The first in the series of crashes occurred five days before Thanksgiving, when an illegal immigrant with a fraudulent green card allegedly killed a 76-year-old man in a hit-and-run in Bluffton, Indiana, <a href="https://news-banner.com/2025/11/1-dead-3-injured-in-bluffton-crash-driver-arrested-after-fleeing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to local reports. The next day, an intoxicated illegal immigrant driver in Owen County allegedly struck the parents of two young children who were on their way to pick up their kids from their grandparents’ house, <a href="https://fox59.com/news/indycrime/court-docs-man-charged-in-owen-county-crash-had-been-drinking-lacked-drivers-license/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Fox 59.</p>

<p>In October, an illegal immigrant driving a semi-truck collided head-on with a 54-year-old man in Northwest Indiana, who was killed almost instantly, <a href="https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/ice-detainer-placed-on-illinois-truck-driver-after-fatal-indiana-crash-police" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Fox 32. The truck driver was using a suspended Illinois Commercial Driver’s License that belonged to a relative.</p>
<p>It was also later revealed that the driver’s trucking companies had received $36,082 in COVID-19 relief loans, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/trucking-company-owned-illegal-immigrant-raked-money-from-taxpayers-before-fatal-crash-records" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Fox News.</p>

The vast majority of illegal aliens commit further crimes once they are in the United States. Most illegal aliens commit Social Security or document fraud; many steal government benefits, assault our citizens, and terrorize our communities. Many also unlawfully procure driver’s licenses and trucking licenses — or simply drive without them — resulting in fatal accidents. We must deport every one of them.”</p>

<p>Footage has emerged from the moments after former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was involved in a stabbing incident in Indianapolis, early Saturday morning.</p>
<p>Sanchez, who suffered serious injuries, was subsequently arrested and charged with battery for his role in the incident.</p>
<p>According to the footage, which was <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/10/06/sports/bloody-mark-sanchez-seen-stumbling-down-indianapolis-sidewalk-after-being-stabbed-in-fight-with-grease-truck-driver/">obtained</a> by the New York Post, Sanchez appears bloodied and stumbling along a sidewalk and clutching the right side of his lower chest.</p>
<p>The former QB reportedly stumbled from an alleyway into a nearby bar, where paramedics were called. He was treated for stab wounds that initially left him in critical condition. By Saturday, it was confirmed by Fox Sports that Sanchez was in stable condition and recovering.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After initial reports indicated Sanchez could be the victim of a random stabbing incident, subsequent reporting revealed that he allegedly punched a 69-year-old truck driver outside of a bar, which led to a bloody escalation. The altercation was apparently sparked over a parking dispute.</span></p>
<p>Sanchez was arrested and charged in the incident, and is now <a href="https://fox59.com/news/indycrime/former-nfl-qb-mark-sanchez-charged-after-surveillance-video-shows-alleged-fight-in-downtown-indy-alley/">facing</a> misdemeanor criminal charges of Battery Resulting in Injury, Public Intoxication, and Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Witnesses say Sanchez’s behavior was erratic and that he seemed intoxicated prior to the incident. In apparent self-defense, the victim stabbed Sanchez. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The truck driver was hospitalized with severe facial wounds, but is now stable, according to a statement from his family.</span></p>

<p>Indianapolis police initially <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/plot-twist-nfl-star-mark-sanchez-charged-with-battery-after-being-stabbed">indicated</a> on Saturday that two men were in a “physical disturbance” in downtown Indianapolis around 12:30 a.m., with one man suffering stab wounds and the other cuts.</p>
<p>Police said in the statement that the fight was “an isolated incident between the two men and not a random act of violence.”</p>
<p>On Saturday afternoon, Fox Sports released a statement confirming that Sanchez was recovering and “in stable condition.” Sanchez currently works as a Fox Sports analyst.</p>
<p>“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” the statement said. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. <p>Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita and 22 other states filed an <a href="https://image.subscription.in.gov/lib/fe2e11747364047b721071/m/1/e5f8c381-d0e3-4279-8119-87188632cab2.pdf">amicus brief</a> on Friday, asking the U.S. Supreme Court to allow a South Carolina school to maintain its policy of separate bathrooms and locker rooms for boys and girls.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The amicus brief notes that the Fourth Circuit has been “mandating policies that deprive schoolchildren of privacy during vulnerable moments. In <em>Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board, </em>a sharply divided panel of the Fourth Circuit required a school to let a girl access a multi-occupancy restroom reserved for the opposite sex because the student, though female, identified as a boy. And the Fourth Circuit has since expanded <em>Grimm</em>, wielding its logic to invalidate regulations on gender-transition procedures and providing for sex-separated sports teams.”</p>

Skrmetti</em>, this Court rejected <span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><em>Grimm’</em>s</span> view that any rule referencing sex-related concepts contains a sex-based classification, even if the rule applies equally to all children. In <em>Department of Education v. Louisiana</em>, this Court let stand injunctions that blocked the federal government from forcing States to adopt the very type of bathroom-access policies that <em>Grimm </em>requires schools to adopt. And, of course, this Court recently granted certiorari to review another Fourth Circuit decision adopting <span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><em>Grimm</em>’s</span> logic. <p style="font-weight: 400;">“No child should fear for their safety or privacy when using a bathroom, changing in the locker room, or showering after sports,” Rokita stated. “Forcing schools to mix boys and girls in these types of spaces shouldn’t be allowed or tolerated, and we’re going to continue fighting to stop it.”</p>
<p>“Under the Equal Protection Clause, this should be a simple case,” the amicus brief contends. “The Fourth Circuit agrees that schools can maintain separate bathrooms for boys and girls. It thus follows that schools can enforce policies providing for single-sex bathrooms against students who would prefer to use a bathroom designated for the opposite sex.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“The Fourth Circuit claims that enforcing such policies against all students offends heightened scrutiny. As this Court’s decision in <em>Skrmetti </em>explains, however, a policy that applies to boys and girls alike does not classify on sex or transgender identity. South Carolina did not draw any impermissible lines when it decided that no one should be able to use a bathroom designated for the opposite sex,” the amicus brief concludes.</p>

<p>Jim Irsay, the longtime owner of the Indianapolis Colts, died on Wednesday afternoon. He was 65.</p>
<p>According to the team, Irsay &#8220;passed away peacefully in his sleep.&#8221; He was one of the most recognized team owners in the NFL, taking over the Colts franchise in 1997 after the death of his father, Robert Irsay.</p>
<p>&#8220;We are devastated to announce our beloved Owner &amp; CEO, Jim Irsay, passed away peacefully in his sleep this afternoon,&#8221; said Colts chief operating officer Pete Ward, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45259729/indianapolis-colts-owner-ceo-jim-irsay-dies-65" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ESPN</a>. &#8220;Jim&#8217;s dedication and passion for the Indianapolis Colts in addition to his generosity, commitment to the community, and most importantly, his love for his family were unsurpassed.&#8221;</p>
<p>No cause of death was provided. Irsay is survived by his three daughters and 10 grandchildren.</p>
<p>After taking over in 1997 and selecting legendary quarterback Peyton Manning in the 1998 draft, Irsay built the Colts into one of the best teams in the NFL, winning the Super Bowl in 2007 and the AFC championship in 2009. Irsay made the difficult decision to release Manning in 2012 after the then-35-year-old star quarterback underwent neck surgery. Manning went on to lead the Denver Broncos to two Super Bowls, winning one of them.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am heartbroken to hear about Jim Irsay&#8217;s passing,&#8221; Manning wrote in a post on Instagram. &#8220;He was an incredibly generous and passionate owner and I will always be indebted to him for giving me my start in the NFL. His love for the Colts and the city of Indy was unmatched. His impact on the players who played for him will not be forgotten. <p>Along with owning the Colts, Irsay was also known for his philanthropic work and his huge Rock &amp; Roll <a href="https://www.jimirsaycollection.com/about" target="_blank" rel="noopener">collection</a>, which includes instruments and items owned by Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, and many others. Irsay also purchased the original handwritten scroll of Jack Kerouac&#8217;s &#8220;On the Road&#8221; in 2001. The Colts owner often loaned some of his collection to museums, nonprofits, and other organizations to display or research.</p>
<p>Irsay struggled with prescription drug abuse, an issue that the Colts owner said almost killed him. In 2014, Irsay was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was suspended by the NFL, and then in 2023, he was found unresponsive in his bedroom from a suspected overdose. Shortly after the incident, the team said Irsay was recovering from a &#8220;severe respiratory illness.&#8221; Irsay made few public appearances in the months leading up to his death.</p>
<p>Ownership of the team will likely transfer to his daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson. His oldest daughter, Irsay-Gordon, will &#8220;primarily take charge of the football side of the franchise,&#8221; The Indianapolis Star <a href="https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2025/05/21/carlie-irsay-gordon-colts-jim-irsay/72274815007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Irsay-Gordon previously took over for her father when he was suspended during the 2014 season and during his treatment at rehabilitation centers.</p>

<p>General Motors is planning to ramp up its production of light-duty trucks in the United States after President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-touts-businesses-coming-back-with-new-plan-for-25-tariffs-on-vehicles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">imposed</a> a 25% tariff on auto imports, Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/gm-increase-us-truck-production-following-trumps-tariffs-2025-04-03/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on Thursday.</p>
<p>In a message sent to employees, GM said it will increase the truck production at its assembly plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The auto company based in Detroit said in a statement that it &#8220;will be making operational adjustments at Fort Wayne Assembly, including hiring temporary employees, to support current manufacturing and business needs,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/general-motors/2025/04/03/gm-increasing-truck-production-fort-wayne-indiana-tariffs-donald-trump/82794018007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Detroit News</a>.</p>
<p>Plant Director Dennys Pimenta told employees that the change could add more overtime days to the schedule for workers, and a company source told Reuters that hundreds of temporary workers could get hired at the plant, which currently employs around 4,150 workers. GM&#8217;s plants in Canada and Mexico that also focus on making light-duty and full-size trucks will not see any changes to production schedules, a source told The Detroit News.</p>
<p>Trump&#8217;s tariff on auto imports kicked in on Thursday after he announced it in the Oval Office last week.</p>
<p>“What we’re going to be doing is a 25% tariff on all cars that are not made in the United States. If they are made in the United States, there is absolutely no tariff,” Trump said.</p>
<p>The tariff will likely affect Canada and Mexico the most as U.S. car manufacturers have outsourced production of their vehicles to each of those countries. Canada&#8217;s second largest export is vehicles, and around 125,000 Canadians work directly in the automotive industry, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/canada-prime-minister-trump-trade-war-autos-d15ae5b0bab873450b86ca524afda3ca" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. On Thursday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney vowed to match the United States&#8217; 25% auto tariff.</p>
<p>“We take these measures reluctantly. And we take them in ways that is intended and will cause maximum impact in the United States and minimum impact in Canada,” Carney said.</p>
<p>Trump recently credited tariffs for bringing manufacturing jobs to the United States after South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai announced a $21 billion <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tariffs-very-strongly-work-trump-announces-21-billion-hyundai-investment-in-u-s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investment</a> in the country over the next four years.</p>
<p>“This investment is a clear demonstration that tariffs very strongly work,” Trump said. “And I hope other things also, but the tariffs are bringing them in at levels that have not been witnessed.”</p>
