President Donald Trump promised Sunday night to restore order in Los Angeles after riots broke out over the weekend with protesters burning cars and attacking federal officers in response to immigration enforcement operations. 
Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114649780431129598" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> on Truth Social that he had directed his administration to take all necessary steps to end the “Migrant riots” and continue the deportations of illegal immigrants. Earlier on Sunday, Trump sent the National Guard <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/national-guard-rolls-into-los-angeles-after-days-of-anti-ice-riots?author=Tim+Pearce&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=National+Guard+Rolls+Into+Los+Angeles+After+Days+Of+Anti-ICE+Riots">into</a> Los Angeles to help quell the unrest that began on Friday after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal agencies conducted several immigration raids, <a href="https://www.foxla.com/news/dhs-crackdown-la-westlake-home-depot">including</a> outside of a Home Depot. 
“A once great American City, Los Angeles, has been invaded and occupied by Illegal Aliens and Criminals. Now violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to try and stop our deportation operations — But these lawless riots only strengthen our resolve,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“I am directing Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, in coordination with all other relevant Departments and Agencies, to take all such action necessary to liberate Los Angeles from the Migrant Invasion, and put an end to these Migrant riots,” Trump added. “Order will be restored, the Illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
In another Truth Social post, Trump ripped into California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Democratic Mayor Karen Bass for their handling of the unrest. 
“Governor Gavin Newscum and ‘Mayor’ Bass should apologize to the people of Los Angeles for the absolutely horrible job that they have done, and this now includes the ongoing L.A. riots,” Trump wrote. “These are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists. Remember, NO MASKS!”
Newsom has <a href="https://x.com/GavinNewsom/status/1931932116172104009" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blamed</a> Trump for the riots, claiming that he escalated the situation by sending in the National Guard to &#8220;manufacture chaos and violence.”  
The violence <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/national-guard-troops-los-angeles-immigration-protests/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">continued</a> on Sunday afternoon as rioters continued to commit vandalism, throw objects and concrete at law enforcement, set vehicles and dumpsters on fire, and <a href="https://ktla.com/news/local-news/that-can-kill-you-l-a-police-attacked-with-fireworks-rocks-molotov-cocktails/">shoot</a> &#8220;commercial grade fireworks&#8221; at law enforcement. 
&#8220;That can kill you,&#8221; said LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell.

The FBI has <a href="https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/seeking-info/assault-on-a-federal-officer-and-damage-to-government-property" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offered</a> a $50,000 reward for a man who threw rocks at law enforcement, injuring a federal officer and damaging federal property.
Law enforcement has arrested dozens of people, and many face assault and vandalism-related charges. LAPD declared an unlawful assembly in downtown L.A. on Sunday night.

Topline: President Trump sends the National Guard to Los Angeles amid violent anti-ICE riots.
Chaos erupted over the weekend in the Los Angeles area as some anti-ICE protesters turned violent after false claims that ICE had conducted a “raid” on a Home Depot in the city of Paramount had circulated after a Home Depot in L.A. had been raided on Friday. To quell the riots, President Trump mobilized and deployed some 2000 members of the National Guard.
By Sunday, things spiraled even further out of control, with hordes of protesters blocking interstates, burning cars, and injuring law enforcement officers. In response, Northern Command said it was ready to send in 500 Marines to help keep the peace. But LA’s Democratic Mayor Karen Bass said federal authorities are making things worse – and that Trump is responsible for the widespread unrest.
“What we&#8217;re seeing in Los Angeles is chaos that is provoked by the administration,” Bass said. “When you raid Home Depot and workplaces, when you tear parents and children apart, and when you run armored caravans through our streets, you cause fear and you cause panic. And deploying federalized troops is a dangerous escalation… I call on all Angelenos to continue expressing your right, your anger, your outrage. But to do it peacefully.”
Dozens of people have been detained throughout the protests, and at least two law enforcement officers have been injured, according to a report from <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/national-guard-troops-los-angeles-immigration-protests/">CBS</a>.
“There were times when things were out of control in this situation and the local law enforcement didn&#8217;t have a total handle on what was going on,” Elex Michaelson, an anchor at FOX News&#8217;s L.A. affiliate, told The Daily Wire on Sunday. “My own colleague on Fox 11, Matthew Seedorf and his photographer, Sam Dubin, were out reporting in Paramount and their vehicle, their news vehicle was destroyed with people punching out the windows – spray-painting “F*** ICE” on it, slashing the tires, stealing stuff from their vehicle – as they were out doing their job. So that&#8217;s an example of criminals taking advantage of a situation and creating chaos.”

Topline: After their public falling out last week, Trump is warning Elon Musk to stay out of the midterm elections as the president pushes forward on the passage of his signature budget bill. 
Elon Musk, who once said he “loved Trump as much as a straight man can love another man,” continued to slam the president over the weekend. While he has deleted some of his most inflammatory remarks on X, including an allegation that Trump was covering up Jeffrey Epstein’s client list to protect himself, he has put out new statements that have drawn more attention to the rift. Musk tweeted Friday that he would “apologize profusely as soon as there is a full dump of the Epstein files.”
Trump responded by calling Musk “the man who has lost his mind” — according to a report from <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/06/politics/musk-alleged-drug-use-trump">CNN</a> the president asked his aides if the outburst could be related to alleged drug use on Musk’s part, although publicly he has said, “I don’t want to comment on his drug use. I don’t know.. [<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/us/elon-musk-drugs-children-trump.html">The New York Times report</a> on the subject] sounded very unfair.”
Apart from personal digs, Musk could pose a more substantial risk to Trump’s electoral prospects. Writing on X, the billionaire asked his followers if it was &#8220;time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle.&#8221; After his audience responded favorably, Musk said it was “fate” and that he would name it the “America Party.” Musk spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars during the 2024 election cycle, and third-party candidates with his backing could potentially act as spoilers in key races, jeopardizing the Republicans&#8217; narrow majority.
That has gotten Trump’s attention. Speaking to ABC News, the president said Elon will “have to pay very serious consequences” if he funds challenges against Republicans in 2026. 
Allies of both men have publicly and privately called on them to reconcile, but as of now, they remain at odds. President Trump said there was “no reason to” repair the relationship, which he “assumed” was over. However, stranger things have happened – Trump’s current vice president, JD Vance, was <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/jd-vance-once-compared-trump-hitler-now-they-are-running-mates-2024-07-15/">once</a> a “never Trumper” who compared the president to Adolf Hitler years before he became one of his supporters.

Topline: An online debate has erupted between Olympic gymnast Simone Biles and former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines over the question of transgender-identifying athletes competing in women’s sports.
The controversy began when Gaines, a vocal critic of transgender-identifying male athletes competing against women and girls, commented on a social media post from the Minnesota State High School League. The post celebrated Champlin Park High School’s girls’ softball state championship win. However, the team’s star pitcher is a boy who identifies as a girl – and he pitched a shutout in the 6-0 victory. Gaines noted that the team turned its comments off, posting on social media: “To be expected when your star player is a boy.”
Biles weighed in by calling Gaines “truly sick” and a “sore loser,” and she accused Gaines of bullying. But then, despite being known for supporting the “body positivity” movement, she mocked Gaines’ physique, telling Gaines to “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.” Gaines is 5’5&#8243;, around average height for a woman.
Interestingly, though, some X users dug up an old<a href="https://x.com/Simone_Biles/status/918328165478666240"> post</a> from Biles in which she acknowledged men’s innate physical advantages over women. In 2017, she wrote, “Good thing guys don&#8217;t compete against girls or he&#8217;d take all the gold medals!!” Gaines also noted Biles and other gymnasts suffered under Larry Nassar, suggesting that the same system that failed them then is now negatively impacting female athletes by putting them in vulnerable positions, like allowing men in their locker rooms.
Both women have received their fair share of support online. With the support for Gaines, there’s a building outcry now for brands like Athleta to drop Biles as an ambassador for female athletes. On the flip side, legacy media and many left-wing pundits voice their support for Biles. There were a number of op-eds, including one from USA Today, cheering her as a hero.
Politically, however, this issue puts Democrats between a rock and a hard place. Many of those fervent and vocal supporters, including celebrities like Biles, are deeply committed to gender ideology and allowing trans-identifying men into women’s sports and women’s spaces. The overwhelming majority disagree – a February 2025 New York Times/Ipsos poll, for example, found that about 80% of respondents believe biological males should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports, including 67% of Democrats and 64% of independents.

Democrats and media talking heads spent Sunday morning attempting to downplay the violence and vandalism on display in Los Angeles, forcing Republican guests to defend President Donald Trump&#8217;s decision to call in the National Guard.
For those who don&#8217;t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week&#8217;s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
After Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents attempted to carry out several raids across the greater Los Angeles area — and were met with two days of protests and violence — President Trump invoked the Insurrection Act of 1807 and activated the National Guard to help get the situation under control. Even as the National Guardsmen arrived in Los Angeles, Democrats on the Sunday talk shows tried to paint the ongoing riots as &#8220;mostly peaceful&#8221; and Trump&#8217;s actions as excessive.
On ABC News&#8217; &#8220;This Week,&#8221; it was noted that the National Guard typically would deploy at the direction of the governor of a particular state — and that Trump&#8217;s move to deploy them over the objections of Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) was something that had only happened a handful of times in the past.

On CBS News&#8217; &#8220;Face the Nation,&#8221; anchor Margaret Brennan pressed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on President Trump&#8217;s order saying that protesters would not be permitted to wear masks, noting that many ICE agents continued to cover their faces. Noem was not clear on how Trump&#8217;s order banning masks for protesters might be enforced, but she pointed out that the agents wearing masks were doing so because their lives and families had already been threatened.

<blockquote>By direction of Secretary of Defense and in coordination with U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), approximately 2,000 California Army National Guard soldiers have been placed under federal command and control in a Title 10 status to support the protection of federal personnel and federal property in the greater Los Angeles area.
As USNORTHCOM’s land component command, U.S. Army North stood up Task Force 51, with a two-star general, as the ground command and control element over the Title 10 forces. At this time, there are approximately 300 members of the California Army National Guard’s 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team deployed at the following locations in the greater Los Angeles area: Los Angeles, Paramount, and Compton, California.
Additionally, approximately 500 Marines from 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines at Twentynine Palms, California, are in a prepared to deploy status should they be necessary to augment and support the DoD’s protection of federal property and personnel efforts.
USNORTHCOM will provide more information as units are identified and deployed.</blockquote>
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had already warned on Saturday that he had placed a number of active duty Marines on high alert at nearby Camp Pendleton, preparing them for the possibility that they might be needed if the situation worsened.
Sortor shared a series of photos and videos showing just how bad things were getting on the streets of Los Angeles. Protesters carrying foreign flags turned on officers who attempted to clear the freeway, throwing objects at them and forcing them to retreat.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) hit the streets alongside anti-ICE protesters in Los Angeles on Sunday, taunting and harassing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents before she attempted to enter the Los Angeles Federal building to check on a union boss who had been arrested.
Waters was captured on video shouting at the National Guard troops — ordered in by President Donald Trump after two days of protesters rioting and attacking ICE agents as they attempted to enforce federal immigration laws.
&#8220;Why do you have guns? What are you going to do, you going to shoot some kid who&#8217;s afraid of you and runs?&#8221; she asked. &#8220;You going to shoot an elected official? If you shoot me, you better shoot straight. I don&#8217;t know why you&#8217;re in my city. The governor was not contacted. This is Trump, and his outrageous attempt to not only target our sanctuary city but to frighten us and intimidate us. This is wrong, and I hope that none of you will use those guns to shoot anybody. The anti-ICE demonstrations in and around Los Angeles have been “peaceful,&#8221; Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) claimed on Sunday, despite clear evidence of violent clashes with federal authorities.
Booker seemed to take a page out of CNN&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-mocked-for-fiery-but-mostly-peaceful-protests-tv-chyron-shown-in-front-of-kenosha-fire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;mostly peaceful&#8221;</a> playbook from 2020 after President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tom-homan-says-national-guard-moving-into-la-to-shut-down-anti-ice-riots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deployed</a> the National Guard to Los Angeles over the weekend. Sharing a clip of Booker&#8217;s comments, the White House’s “Rapid Response” account on X <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1931704892407562276" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fired back</a>.
Booker “thinks the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles — in which criminal illegals and violent mobs are hurling concrete projectiles at vehicles, lighting fires, and attacking federal law enforcement — are ‘peaceful,’” the account said.
Republican lawmakers who hit the talk show circuit on Sunday also dismissed the notion that the protests in Los Angeles should be characterized as nonviolent.
On CNN’s &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1931711731354448072" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the demonstrators were &#8220;not just peaceful protesters,&#8221; contending the &#8220;riot&#8221; in Los Angeles was &#8220;not under control&#8221; as protesters were &#8220;throwing all types of objects at law enforcement.&#8221;
Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX), a military veteran, <a href="https://x.com/RepTonyGonzales/status/1931746619201827272" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voiced</a> support for Trump’s actions during a &#8220;Face the Nation&#8221; interview on CBS.
&#8220;It’s tragic to see what’s happening in LA,&#8221; Gonzales said. &#8220;I fought to give people the freedom to protest whatever the hell they want to, but what we’re seeing in LA are not advocates. We’re seeing anarchists, and the President of the United States should absolutely put down the mob as soon as possible. But this is just the tip of the iceberg.&#8221;
During his NBC appearance, Booker took a swipe at Trump, quipping that the president &#8220;talking to anybody right now about responsive law enforcement to protect people is hypocritical at best&#8221; because of matters related to January 6. He also warned that Trump&#8217;s decision to deploy the National Guard without a request from Newsom would &#8220;only incite the situation and make things worse.&#8221;
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, speaking on &#8220;Face the Nation,&#8221; <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIzS-RfqICI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defended</a> the National Guard’s deployment to &#8220;provide security for operations and to make sure that we have peaceful protests.&#8221;

The clashes between protesters and ICE agents got so chaotic that President Donald Trump invoked the Insurrection Act of 1807, deploying National Guard troops to assist in keeping order. National Guard troops will be deployed into Los Angeles County to aid immigration enforcement as protests in the area escalate into attacks on federal immigration officers.
White House border czar Tom Homan appeared on Fox News on Saturday evening to hit back at local officials who have criticized federal immigration operations in the city. Homan said that National Guard troops would be in Los Angeles County by Saturday night to aid immigration enforcement and tamp down unrest.
“This is about enforcing the law and, again, we&#8217;re not going to apologize for doing it. We&#8217;re stepping up,” Homan said. “We’re already ahead of the game. We&#8217;re already mobilizing. We&#8217;re going to bring National Guard in tonight. We&#8217;re going to continue doing our job. We&#8217;re going to push back on these people, and we&#8217;re going to enforce the law.”

“We are currently seeking information regarding the identity of the person(s) throwing rocks at vehicles conducting critical law enforcement operations. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino weighed in after Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids at several locations across the greater Los Angeles area erupted into clashes — some of them violent — between federal agents and protesters.
After the FBI had to be called in on at least one such confrontation on Friday, Bongino made it clear in a post on X that federal agents would not be deterred from doing their jobs — and he promised that anyone who attempted to interfere with them doing their jobs would face consequences.
&#8220;The Right to assemble and protest does not include a license to attack law enforcement officers, or to impede and obstruct our lawful immigration operations,&#8221; Bongino said. &#8220;We are thoroughly reviewing the evidence from yesterday’s incident in Los Angeles and we are working with the US Attorney’s Office to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. The days of chaos ruling the streets are over. Either obey the law, or go to jail, there’s no third option.&#8221;

Protesters clashed with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and FBI agents as multiple raids played out in Los Angeles on Friday, and local authorities appeared to side mainly with the illegal aliens.
The raids were undertaken in several locations — including two Home Depot stores and the headquarters of Ambient Apparel in the fashion district — ranging from downtown Los Angeles to Westlake, Cypress Park, and the area known as Skid Row.
As the raids began, Mayor Karen Bass (D-LA) spoke out, condemning the federal agents for enforcing federal immigration laws and issuing a statement via X: &#8220;This morning, we received reports of federal immigration enforcement actions in multiple locations in Los Angeles. As mayor of a proud city of immigrants, who contribute to our city in so many ways, I am deeply angered by what has taken place.&#8221;

As the raids were carried out, however, protesters making good on Bass&#8217; words reportedly trapped ICE agents inside a local building and surrounded them. The FBI had to be called to resolve the situation.

Protesters also surrounded federal agents and their vehicles as they attempted to leave the area, running in the street alongside and even in front of moving SUVs. The end result was as ugly as it was predictable, and at least one protester was caught on camera as he was struck by one of the vehicles.

Multiple reports have confirmed that a number of illegal aliens were taken into custody during the raids, but the exact number has not been revealed.
According to <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jun/06/los-angeles-ice-raids-immigration">one report</a> from The Guardian, Angelica Salas, executive director for the Coalition of Humane Immigrant Rights, claimed that at least 45 people had been taken into custody without warrants.
&#8220;Our community is under attack and is being terrorized. These are workers, these are fathers, these are mothers, and this has to stop. Immigration enforcement that is terrorizing our families throughout this country and picking up our people that we love must stop now,&#8221; she said.
