A leftist professor was hit with felony charges for her alleged participation in violent anti-ICE riots in Illinois Friday.
University of Chicago assistant <a href="https://humdev.uchicago.edu/directory/eman-abdelhadi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">professor</a> Eman Abdelhadi, who teaches in the department of comparative human development, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a government employee, a Class 3 felony, and two counts of resisting/obstructing peace, a Class A misdemeanor, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office told The Daily Wire.
She was released on Saturday.
Abdelhadi posted a photo of Illinois state police outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview, Illinois, on X the day of her arrest with the caption: “Here’s a picture of Illinois state tax dollars going to enforcing Trump’s agenda of terrorizing our community with abductions.”

She was seen at an anti-ICE demonstration shouting in officers’ faces while <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DPWnbkBDe5I/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">donning</a> a shirt reading “FREE PALESTINE” in a video posted to her Instagram.
Abdelhadi <a href="https://organizingmythoughts.org/holding-the-line-through-tear-gas-and-censorship/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared</a> on “Movement Memos” the day before her arrest, where she shared her experiences participating in anti-ICE protests in Illinois.
“These people are terrorizing our communities and they’re setting up shop. I mean, in Broadview, ICE has been setting up shop in our backyard. Just brazenly taking up community resources to terrorize this very same community,” Abdelhadi said. “And so it felt really important to join protesters out there to say, not in our city, not in our name, not in our backyard. This will not go by unnoticed. This will not go by without resistance.”
“At this point, you are either on the side of protecting our neighbors and protecting our community, or you’re on the side of this administration. There is no neutral ground in this moment. There’s no center left. You’re either resisting or you’re complicit,” she added.
Abdelhadi was <a href="https://news.uchicago.edu/media/statement/update-faculty-members-recent-comments" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigated</a> by the University of Chicago after she called the school “evil” and “a colonial landlord” at an annual socialism conference on July 5.
The anti-Israel professor also <a href="https://www.adl.org/resources/article/some-us-professors-praise-hamass-october-7-terror-attacks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> “Morning Freedom” with a Palestinian flag emoji on the day of the October 7 attack.

The University of Chicago did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding Abdelhadi’s latest arrest.
The Trump administration has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-to-send-texas-national-guard-troops-to-quell-anti-ice-attacks-in-chicago">deployed</a> 200 Texas National Guard soldiers to Illinois amid an uptick in anti-ICE assaults.
On Saturday, Border Patrol agents in the Chicago area were boxed in by a convoy of vehicles. Agents opened fire on one of the alleged attackers after it was determined that she was armed with a semi-automatic weapon.

A leader of the Latin Kings gang allegedly placed a bounty on the chief of the Trump administration’s deportation raids in Illinois amid a surge in violent attacks against federal immigration officers.
Federal law enforcement officers arrested illegal immigrant gangbanger Juan Espinoza Martinez after he allegedly attempted to orchestrate a murder-for-hire scheme to take out Commander at Large of the U.S. Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino.
Martinez, who goes by the nickname “Monkey,” allegedly sent a message to fellow gang members on Snapchat that pictured Bovino and offered a $10,000 reward to “take him down,” according to a screenshot <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/10/06/latin-kings-gang-member-arrested-illinois-after-placing-hit-commander-large-border">shared</a> by the Department of Homeland Security. The message also offered “$2,000 on information when you get him.”
“It’s a war zone out there,” Bovino <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6382156307112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fox News host Sean Hannity Monday night in response to the latest threat.
He added: “That’s something out of a third-world country, is this America?”

The gang leader also “instructed Latin Kings members to acquire firearms and hang out in the area” after a convoy of vehicles rammed into Border Patrol agents driving in the Chicago area Saturday, <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndil/media/1415976/dl?inline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to court documents.
One of the alleged attackers was armed with a semiautomatic weapon, prompting agents to fire shots, striking the individual.
When agents called for backup from the Chicago Police Department as rioters formed a mob in response to the shooting, the local officers were instructed to stand down.
“Placing a bounty on a federal officer’s head is cowardly and an act of war on the rule of law,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche <a href="https://x.com/DAGToddBlanche/status/1975297505974767640" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement Monday. “This case shows what Take Back America means: reclaiming our neighborhoods from violent thugs and criminal gangs.”
“We will hunt anyone who targets those who protect our borders, streets, and communities. Rest assured &#8211; threaten law enforcement and the full weight of the U.S. government will come for you,” he said.

The decision to send troops to Chicago comes after Border Patrol agents were ambushed Saturday when two agitators allegedly rammed the agents’ vehicle in a convoy of cars.
The trapped agents encountered one of the alleged attackers, who was later <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/10/04/update-dhs-deploys-special-operations-after-multiple-violent-attacks-federal-law" target="_blank" rel="noopener">identified</a> as Marimar Martinez, and determined that she was “armed with a semi-automatic weapon,” forcing them to “fire defensive shots at an unarmed U.S. citizen,” according to the Department of Homeland Security.
When the agents called Chicago police for reinforcements as a mob of rioters gathered around the scene, the local police were <a href="https://x.com/RedWave_Press/status/1975231794858340415" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> to stand down.
Martinez was identified in a federal law enforcement intelligence bulletin that circulated last week after she was allegedly “doxing agents and posting online ‘Hey to all my gang let’s f*** those motherf****ers up, don’t let them take anyone.’”
In response to the Trump administration’s efforts to restore peace, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chicago-mayor-brandon-johnson-signs-executive-order-establishing-ice-free-zones?author=Jennie+Taer&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Chicago+Mayor+Brandon+Johnson+Signs+Executive+Order+Establishing+%E2%80%98ICE+Free+Zones%E2%80%99">signed</a> an executive order Monday to create “ICE free zones” across the city.
“The order establishes ICE-free zones. That means that city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as staging grounds for these raids,” Johnson said.
Like Illinois, the State of Oregon has taken legal steps to stop the Trump administration from sending soldiers from other states to assist ICE. As of publication, Texas troops are blocked from deploying to Portland.

Topline: Israel’s two-year war in Gaza may be nearing an end after a U.S.-backed peace proposal won widespread backing across the Middle East.
Negotiators are meeting in Egypt this week to hammer out the details of the peace framework presented by President Trump. Already, there are splits. Hamas has agreed to release all hostages, but it hasn’t agreed to the three-day timeline, nor has it agreed to demilitarize or swear off any future involvement in Gaza’s governance.
President Trump is optimistic, however. He’s seemingly viewed Hamas’ willingness to have a discussion as a win.
A look back: In 2023, Saudi Arabia was on the verge of joining the Abraham Accords and normalizing relations with Israel. To Hamas, that would have been a disaster – it needs Israel isolated. At the same time, Israel was roiled by judicial reform – there were massive protests in the streets. Israeli society seemed to be torn apart.

Hamas sensed weakness, and it needed to break up Arab-Israeli relations, so it attacked. As an Iranian proxy, it received help from Iran and its massive network of terror groups. Hezbollah in Lebanon had tens of thousands of rockets and missiles. In Israel, Hamas was viewed as a threat, but the threat from Hezbollah was considered potentially existential.
The Houthis in Yemen threatened Israel and international shipping. Then there was Iran itself. Tehran is the largest state-sponsor of terrorism in the world, and prior to October 7, it had used its web of terror groups to surround Israel.
October 7, two years later: That web now has serious holes. Israel is in a much stronger position in the Middle East. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made that point in an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ben-interviews-netanyahu?elementPosition=3&amp;row=2&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+Episodes&amp;rowType=Horizontal+Show+Episodes+Carousel">interview</a> with The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro on Monday:

Israel&#8217;s support slipping: Support for Israel is fading in the West. Canada, the U.K., and France have all recently recognized the nonexistent state of Palestine, which Trump has described as a reward for terrorism.
Polling in the United States suggests some bad trends for Israel. According to a Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/10/06/jewish-americans-israel-poll-gaza/">poll</a> conducted last month, support among American Jews has taken some hits. The share who believe the United States supports Israel too much has risen to 32%—a 10-point increase since 2020 and a 21-point increase since 2013. Within the Democratic Party, support for the Palestinian cause has become something of a litmus test among progressives. Meanwhile, some voices on the Republican side question whether strong backing for Israel aligns with an “America First” philosophy.

Topline: Violent assaults against federal immigration authorities continue in Illinois, and the Trump administration has responded by sending hundreds of Texas National Guard troops to Chicago. 
Much of Trump’s effort to activate National Guard troops to protect federal immigration enforcement is in legal limbo. 
Homeland Security officials told The Daily Wire that they&#8217;re not going to let up on the mass deportation effort amid the ongoing assaults against immigration officers. 
Since Trump has taken office, there has been a 1,000% increase in assaults on ICE agents. Around Chicago in particular, leftist agitators have made a number of egregious assaults on the ICE detention center in Broadview, Illinois, and on ICE and Border Patrol agents who have been deployed to assist in these efforts.
Illinois against ICE: The state of Illinois has sued over the deployment of National Guard troops to the state. It says that the move by the Trump administration is unconstitutional and an invasion.
Chicago Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson is creating “ICE-free zones” in city buildings where he says that ICE and Border Patrol cannot go. He has also called on local businesses to participate, as well, to shield illegal aliens who are roaming the streets.
At the same time, there are more places for illegal aliens to run and hide, ICE and federal law enforcement sources tell The Daily Wire.
ICE ambushed: Over the weekend, several vehicles allegedly rammed into and boxed in federal immigration agents in Chicago during a protest confrontation.
A U.S. citizen woman, who authorities say was armed with a semi-automatic weapon and previously accused of doxxing agents, was shot by Border Patrol after agents said they were boxed in.
Trump administration officials have characterized the incident as part of a broader pattern, arguing that National Guard deployments may be necessary in cities where local enforcement is perceived as unwilling to protect federal agents.
Deportation operation: The Trump administration&#8217;s operations, and the surrounding areas of Chicago, have already yielded 1,000 arrests since early September. In the case of “ICE-free zones,” officials may pursue Chicago and Mayor Johnson for violations of federal law in harboring illegal aliens.

Topline: A political firestorm is raging in Virginia over text messages that show Democratic attorney general nominee Jay Jones fantasizing about killing a GOP colleague. 
The controversy centers on messages sent in August 2022 from then-former Delegate Jay Jones to Republican Delegate Carrie Coyner. In those messages, first obtained by National Review, Jones fantasized about murdering then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert, a Republican:

Jones has now apologized, saying, “Reading back those words made him sick to his stomach.” He insists he’s staying in the race and has blamed “Trump-controlled media” for turning the text messages into a story.
Republicans react: There’s been a chorus of voices demanding that Jones exit the race. Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, who is running for governor, and Attorney General Jason Miyares, Jones’ opponent, say the texts are disqualifying. President Trump also said he needs to go. And Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin described the comments as “demented.” 
Democrats react: But while some Democrats are condemning the remarks, we’re not yet hearing any calls for Jones to drop out. Jones’ running mate, Abigail Spanberger, said she spoke “frankly” with him and expressed her “disgust,” but won&#8217;t call for him to quit. 
Political fallout: Coming in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, political analysts are saying Jones&#8217; messages are likely to be a significant liability. Early voting has increased by 20% this week, according to state data. Internal GOP tracking shows the race tightening to a dead heat, with undecideds – about 39% of voters who barely know Jones – swinging hard against him.

As President Donald Trump deploys the National Guard to crime-ridden cities like Memphis and Portland, Republican lawmakers across the country say they would like the president to send troops into their cities next.
Two cities that could be the next targets for Trump’s crime crackdown are the notoriously violent Midwest cities of St. Louis and Chicago. These Democrat-controlled cities have been crippled by crime for decades and have been ground zero for the implementation of soft-on-crime policies from leftist prosecutors.
“It is dystopian. You can&#8217;t even believe you&#8217;re in an American city in some parts of it. You cannot even believe it,” Missouri state Rep. Justin Sparks told The Daily Wire of St. Louis. “Like the streets are crumbling. The infrastructure is crumbling. Electricity, trash, piles of trash in alleys, like animals running freely.”
St. Louis consistently <a href="https://usafacts.org/articles/which-cities-have-the-highest-murder-rates/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ranks</a> as one of the worst cities in America for murders, and prosecution in the blue city was recently led by leftist Kim Gardner, who was bankrolled by George Soros. Gardner resigned in 2023 amid pressure from Republicans.
Still, state lawmakers tell The Daily Wire that the city has a massive crime problem.
“You cannot take your families to a ballgame or to a sporting event … because the drug problem is so bad and they don’t do anything about it,” Republican Rep. Holly Jones told The Daily Wire.
Republican State Senator Nick Schroer said that Trump should work with Governor Mike Kehoe to clean up the city.
“If Trump is able to work with the Kehoe administration and get some troops in there to kind of clean it up, we could expedite this thing. and be on the right course within two to three years,” he said.
Schroer said that a recently passed <a href="https://house.mo.gov/Bill.aspx?bill=HB495&amp;year=2025&amp;code=R" target="_blank" rel="noopener">crime bill</a>, which shifts control of police out of the hands of Democratic officials in cities like St. Louis and Kansas City, should help address the problem, but that more aid from the Trump administration would be welcome.
The lawmakers said the best way to fight crime was to surge law enforcement, including federal troops, to crime-ridden cities.
“That’s what will work at every urban decaying hellhole in our country, flood the zone, and take the bad guys and actually charge them with crimes and hold them down,” Sparks said.

On Sunday, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker (D) stated that Trump was about to deploy 400 National Guard troops to Chicago. Pritzker, who has long downplayed the Windy City’s crime problem, claimed the mobilization would be an “invasion.”
Prior to Pritzker’s latest lament, Illinois state lawmakers told The Daily Wire that they would support Trump sending the National Guard to Chicago.
“I think it would restore order. I think just the threat of the National Guard has the radical left scared and they&#8217;re probably going to let the police do a little bit better of a job,” Republican Rep. Adam Niemerg said.
Rep. Chris Miller, the husband of Congresswoman Mary Miller, said he would “absolutely” support the National Guard being sent into Chicago.
“When I look at what’s going on with JB Pritzker and [Chicago Mayor] Brandon Johnson, they are missing a golden opportunity to be heroes in the state of Illinois. If they would cooperate with ICE, if they would cooperate with President Trump, Illinois could begin to enjoy the Golden Age of America that everybody else is enjoying, that are embracing the policies and what Trump’s trying to do.”
Miller said that Pritzker needed an “ICR” — inner-cranial rectal removal — saying that the governor and Johnson needed “to get their head out of their ass.”
The Illinois Republican said that they should look at the template of Trump’s Washington, D.C., crime crackdown and get Chicago under control in a couple of weeks.

President Donald Trump’s latest move to confront rising lawlessness and attacks on federal immigration agents in Chicago is the deployment of 300 Illinois National Guard troops, prompting Democrat Governor JB Pritzker to hyperventilate over “Trump’s Invasion.”
“We must now start calling this what it is: Trump’s Invasion,” Pritzker stated, according to the <a href="https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/10/05/president-trump-calling-up-300-illinois-national-guard-immediately-to-protect-ice-buildings-for-60-days/?lctg=B4845491D5F64499A4E4B513EB&amp;utm_email=B4845491D5F64499A4E4B513EB&amp;utm_source=listrak&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=https%3a%2f%2fwww.chicagotribune.com%2f2025%2f10%2f05%2fpresident-trump-calling-up-300-illinois-national-guard-immediately-to-protect-ice-buildings-for-60-days%2f&amp;utm_campaign=trib-chicago_tribune-breaking_news-nl&amp;utm_content=alert">Chicago Tribune</a>, which reported that War Secretary Pete Hegseth sent a memo instructing Illinois National Guard leadership to deploy the troops to the Chicago region for at least 60 days. “It started with federal agents, it will soon include deploying federalized members of the Illinois National Guard against our wishes, and it will now involve sending in another state’s military troops,” Pritzker declared.
The White House has stated that the National Guard troops will protect federal personnel and property—like ICE facilities—where violent demonstrations are either happening or expected. The memo calls for protecting federal law enforcement officials who are “performing Federal functions.”
Meanwhile, the Texas Guard is preparing to deploy hundreds more National Guard troops to Illinois.
Trump has been blunt about the situation in the Chicago area, saying, “Everybody knows Chicago is a hellhole right now.” The city is drowning in violent crime, and federal ICE agents have been under attack. In September, rioters surrounded ICE vehicles in Broadview, Illinois, threw tear gas, and even slashed tires in a protest against ICE. The Trump administration rolled out “Operation Midway Blitz,” which scooped up hundreds of illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds—gang members, murderers, and sex offenders.

Pritzker said over the weekend that he would refuse to deploy the state’s National Guard, stating that a federal deployment would be illegal, and has threatened to file a lawsuit to stop it, citing the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878.
Trump’s justification to federalize the National Guard comes from the U.S. Code, specifically 10 U.S.C. § 12406, which states:” “Whenever (1) the United States, or any of the Commonwealths or possessions, is invaded or is in danger of invasion by a foreign nation; (2) there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States; or (3) the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States; then the President may call into Federal service members and units of the National Guard of any State in such numbers as he considers necessary to repel the invasion, suppress the rebellion, or execute those laws.”
On Sunday, Trump said, “I believe the politicians are under threat, because there’s no way somebody can say that things are wonderful in Chicago. There’s no city in the world like that. We’re going to straighten it out. And I think that Pritzker, he’s not a stupid person. I think that Pritzker is afraid for his life,” hinting that Pritzker was beholden to organizations the Trump administration believes support the protests over increased immigration enforcement.
In Oregon, a federal judge blocked President Trump’s effort to deploy California National Guard troops to Portland after previously issuing a restraining order halting the Oregon Guard deployment. Trump fired back, calling the judge “shameful” and insisting that cities like Portland and Chicago are “burning” and in desperate need of federal assistance.

Trump Deploys National Guard To Chicago As Pritzker Melts Down Over ‘Invasion’

In just the latest attack on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, officers in Chicago were targeted in an apparently coordinated strike on Saturday morning.
According to Assistant Secretary Dept. of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin, officers were &#8220;rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars&#8221; and agents were forced to exit their vehicles on foot.
&#8220;One of the drivers who rammed the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon,&#8221; McLaughlin explained. &#8220;Law enforcement was forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots at an armed U.S. citizen who drove herself to the hospital to get care for wounds.&#8221;
The armed woman in question was already on Border Patrol&#8217;s radar after she recently doxxed agents and posted online, &#8220;Hey to all my gang let’s f*** those mother f***ers up, don’t let them take anyone,&#8221; according to the assistant secretary.
McLaughlin said &#8220;no law enforcement officers were seriously injured&#8221; in the attack, while noting that the Chicago Police Department refused to assist ICE to secure the area.
&#8220;[Democrat Gov. JB] Pritzker&#8217;s Chicago Police Department is leaving the shooting scene and refuses to assist us in securing the area,&#8221; she posted to X. &#8220;There is a growing crowd and we are deploying special operations to control the scene.&#8221;

Notably, a day before Saturday&#8217;s attack, ICE agents were blocked by protesters and one man tossed a tear gas canister toward officers.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem tagged along with federal authorities Friday in Broadview, Illinois, where she said she was &#8220;blocked from accessing the Village of Broadview Municipal Building in Illinois.&#8221;
&#8220;We were stopping for a quick bathroom break. This is a public building. The Village of Broadview receives at least $1 million in federal funding every year,&#8221; Noem <a href="https://x.com/Sec_Noem/status/1974189838849987022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> on X, sharing a video of the encounter.
&#8220;This is how JB Pritzker and his cronies treat our law enforcement. Absolutely shameful,&#8221; she added, referencing the Illinois Democratic governor and rumored 2028 presidential candidate.

Snipers were also <a href="https://x.com/bennyjohnson/status/1974165474830397860" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stationed</a> on the roof of the ICE facility.
Pritzker has responded by condemning the effort.
“The Trump Administration’s DHS officers appear to be carrying large weapons around downtown Chicago in camouflage and masks. This is not making anybody safer — it’s a show of intimidation, instilling fear in our communities and hurting our businesses,” Pritzker <a href="https://x.com/GovPritzker/status/1972398797688127984">wrote</a> on X Sunday.

The Trump administration is freezing $2.1 billion in funding for Chicago infrastructure projects over accusations of “race-based contracting” as the government shutdown continues. 
Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought announced the move Friday morning, saying that the freeze would impact construction to modernize the city’s public transit system. It comes just two days after the Department of Transportation <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-freezes-18-billion-for-nyc-infrastructure-over-unconstitutional-dei-principles?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Freezes+%2418+Billion+For+NYC+Infrastructure+Over+%E2%80%98Unconstitutional+DEI+Principles%E2%80%99">froze</a> $18 billion for New York City infrastructure projects over “unconstitutional” diversity, equity, and inclusion “principles.”
“$2.1 billion in Chicago infrastructure projects — specifically the Red Line Extension and the Red and Purple Modernization Project — have been put on hold to ensure funding is not flowing via race-based contracting,” Vought wrote on X. 
Shortly after Vought’s announcement, the Department of Transportation <a href="https://www.transportation.gov/briefing-room/us-department-transportation-statement-review-chicagos-discriminatory">confirmed</a> the freeze and suggested that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) were to blame for leading the Democrats’ resistance to a temporary government funding bill. 
The department said that it was “committed to conducting these reviews as fast as possible so reimbursements can move forward. Unfortunately, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries’ decision to shut down the government has negatively affected the Department’s staffing resources for carrying out this important analysis.”
“We urge Democrats in Congress to stop holding the federal government’s budget hostage so USDOT can get back to the important work of the American people,” the department added.

It sent letters on Friday to the Chicago Transit Authority, stating that it had initiated an administrative review of two ongoing projects to modernize the city’s rail system, and added that it was concerned about preferential treatment in construction contracting based on race. 
“Together, these critical reviews are intended to ensure no additional federal dollars go towards discriminatory, illegal, and wasteful contracting practices,” the department said. “The American people don’t care what race or gender construction workers, pipefitters, or electricians are. They just want these massive projects finally built quickly and efficiently.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were targeted in two separate car attacks during enforcement operations in the Chicago area on Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told The Daily Wire. 
Illegal aliens “weaponized their vehicles in deliberate attempts to ram and injure” agents making arrests in Bensenville and Norridge, Illinois, DHS said Thursday. The attacks occurred as ICE continues to carry out &#8220;Operation Midway Blitz,&#8221; a massive illegal alien crackdown targeting the Chicago area that has yielded over <a href="https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/operation-midway-blitz-surpasses-900-arrests-illinois-dhs-says">900 arrests</a>. 
“Thankfully, none of our law enforcement was killed because of these deranged criminals&#8217; attacks on law enforcement. This is exactly what happens when Governor Pritzker, Mayor Johnson, and other sanctuary politicians demonize ICE and encourage illegal aliens to resist law enforcement,” Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told The Daily Wire. 
In the first instance, Miguel Escareno De Loera, an illegal alien from Mexico, rammed his car into an ICE vehicle twice before jumping a curb and crashing into a stop, according to DHS.  It is unknown when Escareno De Loera entered the United States, as he was not stopped at the border.

In the second attack, Widman Osberto Lopez-Funes, an illegal alien from Guatemala, slammed his vehicle into ICE agents during an enforcement operation before running on foot to his home in Bensenville, DHS said. He was later taken into custody.  It is also unknown when Lopez-Funes illegally crossed into the United States.

 Both men are expected to face criminal charges for assaulting federal law enforcement and will remain in ICE custody as they face deportation. 
“Our ICE law enforcement is facing a more than 1000% increase in assaults—including cars being used as weapons against them. Secretary Noem has been clear: anyone who assaults law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” McLaughlin said. 
The Trump administration has faced backlash from leftist protesters as they carry out operations around Chicago. Democrats, including Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, continue to voice their opposition to the efforts to clean up the city.

The DEI-obsessed medical school dean who called President Donald Trump’s efforts to define male and female an “attack on women” is stepping down from his position as his institution continues to promote radical ideologies.
Jerry Kruse, the dean of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, recently <a href="https://www.siumed.edu/news/dr-jerry-kruse-retire-siu-dean-provost-2026" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that he would be leaving his position as head of the school in August 2026 after over four decades working at the institution. Over the last few months, Kruse has faced <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/unearthed-footage-exposes-medical-school-administrators-pledging-resist-trump-executive-orders" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scrutiny</a> over comments pledging to resist the Trump administration’s DEI crackdown and revelations that the school has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/med-school-caught-rejecting-white-and-asian-applicants-with-better-scores-than-minorities-it-accepts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">continued to reject</a> white and Asian applicants with higher test scores in favor of minority candidates.
Kruse, who has been with the school since 1984, <a href="https://www.siumed.edu/news/dr-jerry-kruse-retire-siu-dean-provost-2026" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that he was “deeply proud of what we have accomplished together and confident that SIU Medicine will continue to grow and innovate.&#8221;
&#8220;Our triple aim has always been to provide health care that is effective, efficient and equitable, and I am looking forward to ending with excellence,&#8221; he added.
His departure was welcomed by Ian Kingsbury, the director of research for the medical watchdog Do No Harm.
“After aggressively steering Southern Illinois University School of Medicine toward an embrace of a radical woke agenda, it is welcome news that Dean Kruse is stepping down,” Kingsbury said. “From promoting discriminatory scholarships and practicing race-based admissions to publicly flouting President Trump&#8217;s executive orders, the school has practically begged for a federal investigation.”
“Hopefully, the former dean’s successor has the courage to clean up the mess of identity politics he will inherit and restore the institution&#8217;s integrity. Do No Harm will be watching,” he added.
Back in May, Do No Harm obtained footage of Kruse giving a speech to SIU staff where he laid out the school’s opposition to Trump’s executive orders on DEI and gender. Specifically, he took aim at Trump’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal-government/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a> cracking down on radical gender ideology.

“While the order allegedly attempts to protect women and girls, what it really does is threaten any woman or girl who doesn&#8217;t conform to sex based stereotypes and opens them up to invasion of privacy. This is an attack on women, on gender identity, on sexual orientation, and on basic human rights,” Kruse <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/siy9ewmyoo7rrwnyqq3ar/SIU-News-and-Views-with-Dr.-Kruse-0325.mp4?rlkey=80pp1ok0lj1etr5g9ik42vokn&amp;e=1&amp;st=43sm5lq3&amp;dl=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, according to the footage.
Kruse also promised to fight the Trump administration and wait for the directives to play out in court.
&#8220;We will resist obeying in advance. We won&#8217;t do any anticipatory obedience,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The existing laws have not changed, no court directives will require any change in compliance at this time.&#8221;
The Southern Illinois University School of Medicine has been <a href="https://taggs.hhs.gov/Detail/RecipDetail?arg_EntityId=PlNjsfJ%2FhuFyRnIQqjoNjQ%3D%3D" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> over $5 million in federal funds this year and received another $6.4 million in 2024.
Currently on its website, SIU promotes multiple <a href="https://archive.ph/9EHhD" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scholarship</a> opportunities that are only available on the basis of race or sex. For example, the “Underrepresented Students in Medicine” scholarship is only available for those who are African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, or from mainland Puerto Rico. There is also the “American Dissertation Scholarship,” which is only available to women.
The school’s office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion also <a href="https://www.siumed.edu/studentaffairs/affinity-groups" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offers</a> multiple gender and racially-based affinity groups, and the school proudly <a href="https://www.siumed.edu/diversity/minority-faculty-recruitment-plan.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advertises</a> its “minority faculty recruitment plan.”
The University of Illinois System, which oversees the school of medicine, has embedded DEI into its <a href="https://siusystem.edu/about/strategic-plan/index.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noopener">strategic plan</a>.

&#8220;We will be a national model of anti-racism and anti-oppression that promotes diversity, inclusion, and equitable access and opportunity for all individuals,” the system says.
The system was awarded the Leadership in DEI Award at the 2025 Keystone Awards by a Norwegian-based education company.
The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/med-school-caught-rejecting-white-and-asian-applicants-with-better-scores-than-minorities-it-accepts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that the school admits black and Hispanic students with lower average MCAT scores and GPAs than the average scores of white and Asian students it rejects despite the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn affirmative action. That report led to a <a href="https://dehayf5mhw1h7.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/1515/2025/06/05072346/jacobs-siu-school-of-medicine-admissions-policy-letter-6-2-25.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> from local lawmakers to the school demanding transparency about its admissions processes.
The school also <a href="https://www.siumed.edu/centers-family-medicine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">owns</a> and <a href="https://www.siumed.org/treatment/gender-equity-and-transgender-clinic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">operates</a> a Gender Equity and Transgender Clinic, which offers “gender affirming hormone therapy” and provides referrals for the surgical removal of breasts and other genital surgeries. The clinic’s website inaccurately claims that puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones can be reversed.
